Transferring and replicating predictive algorithms across healthcare systems constitutes a unique yet crucial challenge that needs to be addressed to enable the widespread adoption of machine learning in healthcare. In this study, we explored the impact of important differences across healthcare systems and the associated Electronic Health Records (EHRs) on machine-learning algorithms to predict mental health crises, up to 28 days in advance. We evaluated both the transferability and replicability of such machine learning models, and for this purpose, we trained six models using features and methods developed on EHR data from the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust in the UK. These machine learning models were then used to predict the mental health crises of 2907 patients seen at the Rush University System for Health in the US between 2018 and 2020. The best one was trained on a combination of US-specific structured features and frequency features from anonymized patient notes and achieved an AUROC of 0.837. A model with comparable performance, originally trained using UK structured data, was transferred and then tuned using US data, achieving an AUROC of 0.826. The application of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) provides promising age prediction models. We explored whether the gap between the pre-procedural AI-ECG age and chronological age can predict atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence after catheter ablation. We validated a pre-trained residual network-based model for age prediction on four multinational datasets. Then we estimated AI-ECG age using a pre-procedural sinus rhythm ECG among individuals on anti-arrhythmic drugs who underwent de-novo AF catheter ablation from two independent AF ablation cohorts. We categorized the AI-ECG age gap based on the mean absolute error of the AI-ECG age gap obtained from four model validation datasets; aged-ECG (≥10 years) and normal ECG age (<10 years) groups. In the two AF ablation cohorts, aged-ECG was associated with a significantly increased risk of AF recurrence compared to the normal ECG age group. These associations were independent of chronological age or left atrial diameter. In summary, a pre-procedural AI-ECG age has a prognostic value for AF recurrence after catheter ablation. Background: Lacunes, a characteristic feature of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD), are critical public health concerns, especially in the aging population. Traditional neuroimaging techniques often fall short in early lacune detection, prompting the need for more precise predictive models. Methods: In this retrospective study, 587 patients from the Neurology Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University who underwent cranial MRI were assessed. A nomogram for predicting lacune incidence was developed using LASSO regression and binary logistic regression analysis for variable selection. The nomogram's performance was quantitatively assessed using AUC-ROC, calibration plots, and decision curve analysis (DCA) in both training (n = 412) and testing (n = 175) cohorts. Results: Independent predictors identified included age, gender, history of stroke, carotid atherosclerosis, hypertension, creatinine, and homocysteine levels. The nomogram showed an AUC-ROC of 0.814 (95% CI: 0.791-0.870) for the training set and 0.805 (95% CI: 0.782-0.843) for the testing set. Calibration and DCA corroborated the model's clinical value. Conclusion: This study introduces a clinically useful nomogram, derived from binary logistic regression, that significantly enhances the prediction of lacunes in patients undergoing brain MRI for various indications, potentially advancing early diagnosis and intervention. Backgrounds: Although allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is a potentially curative therapy for hematological malignancies, it can be associated with relevant post-transplant complications. Several reports have shown that polymorphisms in immune system genes are correlated with the development of post-transplant complications. Within this context, this work focuses on identifying novel polymorphisms in cytokine genes and developing predictive models to anticipate the risk of developing graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), transplantation-related mortality (TRM), relapse and overall survival (OS). Methods: Our group developed a 132-cytokine gene panel which was tested in 90 patients who underwent an HLA-identical sibling-donor allo-HSCT. Bayesian logistic regression (BLR) models were used to select the most relevant variables. Based on the cut-off points selected for each model, patients were classified as being at high or low-risk for each of the post-transplant complications (aGVHD II-IV, aGVHD III-IV, cGVHD, mod-sev cGVHD, TRM, relapse and OS). Results: A total of 737 polymorphisms were selected from the custom panel genes. Of these, 41 polymorphisms were included in the predictive models in 30 cytokine genes were selected (17 interleukins and 13 chemokines). Of these polymorphisms, 5 (12.2%) were located in coding regions, and 36 (87.8%) in noncoding regions. All models had a statistical significance of p<0.0001. Conclusion: Overall, genomic polymorphisms in cytokine genes make it possible to anticipate the development all complications studied following allo-HSCT and, consequently, to optimize the clinical management of patients. Objectives: Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) have a relatively high prevalence among university students. This study aimed to identify independent risk factors for TMD in university students and develop an effective risk prediction model. Methods: This study included 1,122 university students from four universities in Changchun City, Jilin Province, as subjects. Predictive factors were screened by using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression and the machine learning Boruta algorithm in the training cohort. A multifactorial logistic regression analysis was used to construct a TMD risk prediction model. Internal validation of the model was conducted via bootstrap resampling, and an external validation cohort comprised 205 university students undergoing oral examinations at the Stomatological Hospital of Jilin University. Results: The prevalence of TMD among university students was 44.30%. Ten predictive factors were included in the model, comprising gender, facial cold stimulation, unilateral chewing, biting hard or resilient foods, clenching teeth, grinding teeth, excessive mouth opening, malocclusion, stress, and anxiety. The model demonstrated good predictive ability with area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) values of 0.853, 0.838, and 0.821 in the training cohort, internal validation cohort, and external validation cohort, respectively. The calibration curves demonstrated that the predicted results were consistent with the actual results, and the decision curve analysis (DCA) indicated the model's high clinical utility. Conclusions: An online nomogram of TMD in university students with good predictive performance was constructed, which can effectively predict the risk of TMD in university students. The model provides a useful tool for the early identification and treatment of TMDs in university students, helping clinicians to predict the probability of TMDs in each patient, thus providing more personalized and accurate treatment decisions for patients. While genome-wide association studies are valuable in identifying CRC survival predictors, the benefit of adding blood DNA methylation (blood-DNAm) to clinical features, including the TNM system, remains unclear. In a multi-site population-based patient cohort study of 2116 CRC patients with baseline blood-DNAm, we analyzed survival predictions using eXtreme Gradient Boosting with a 5-fold nested leave-sites-out cross-validation across four groups: traditional and comprehensive clinical features, blood-DNAm, and their combination. Model performance was assessed using time-dependent ROC curves and calibrations. During a median follow-up of 10.3 years, 1166 patients died. Although blood-DNAm-based predictive signatures achieved moderate performances, predictive signatures based on clinical features outperformed blood-DNAm signatures. The inclusion of blood-DNAm did not improve survival prediction over clinical features. M1 stage, age at blood collection, and N2 stage were the top contributors. Despite some prognostic value, incorporating blood DNA methylation did not enhance survival prediction of CRC patients beyond clinical features. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Parkinson's disease (PD) presents diverse symptoms and comorbidities, complicating its diagnosis and management. The primary objective of this cross-sectional, monocentric study was to assess digital gait sensor data's utility for monitoring and diagnosis of motor and gait impairment in PD. As a secondary objective, for the more challenging tasks of detecting comorbidities, non-motor outcomes, and disease progression subgroups, we evaluated for the first time the integration of digital markers with metabolomics and clinical data. Using shoe-attached digital sensors, we collected gait measurements from 162 patients and 129 controls in a single visit. Machine learning models showed significant diagnostic power, with AUC scores of 83–92% for PD vs. control and up to 75% for motor severity classification. Integrating gait data with metabolomics and clinical data improved predictions for challenging-to-detect comorbidities such as hallucinations. CRISPR is a precise and effective genome editing technology; but despite several advancements during the last decade, our ability to computationally design gRNAs remains limited. Most predictive models have relatively low predictive power and utilize only the sequence of the target site as input. Here we suggest a new category of features, which incorporate the target site genomic position and the presence of genes close to it. We calculate four features based on gene expression and codon usage bias indices. We show, on CRISPR datasets taken from 3 different cell types, that such features perform comparably with 425 state-of-the-art predictive features, ranking in the top 2–12% of features. We trained new predictive models, showing that adding expression features to them significantly improves their r2 by up to 0.04 (relative increase of 39%), achieving average correlations of up to 0.38 on their validation sets; and that these features are deemed important by different feature importance metrics. We believe that incorporating the target site's position, in addition to its sequence, in features such as we have generated here will improve our ability to predict, design and understand CRISPR experiments going forward. Background: While home is frequently expressed as the favorite place of death (PoD) among terminally ill cancer patients, various factors affect the fulfillment of this wish. The determinants of the PoD of cancer patients in countries without healthcare system-integrated palliative and supportive care have not been studied before. This study aimed at identifying the predictors of the PoD of patients who suffer from advanced cancer by developing a reliable predictive model among who received home-based palliative care in Iran as a representative of the countries with isolated provision of palliative care services. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, electronic records of 4083 advanced cancer patients enrolled in the Iranian Cancer Control Center (MACSA) palliative homecare program, who died between February 2018 and February 2020 were retrieved. Multivariable binary logistic regression analysis as well as subgroup analyses (location, sex, marital status, and tumor topography) was performed to identify the predictors of PoD. Results: Of the 2398 cases included (mean age (SD) = 64.17 (14.45) year, 1269 (%52.9) male), 1216 (50.7%) patients died at home. Older age, presence and intensity of medical homecare in the last two weeks and registration in the Tehran site of the program were associated with dying at home (P < 0.05). Gynecological or hematological cancers, presence and intensity of the calls received from the remote palliative care unit in the last two weeks were predictors of death at the hospital (p < 0.05). The model was internally and externally validated (AUC = 0.723 (95% CI = 0.702–0.745; P < 0.001) and AUC = 0.697 (95% CI = 0.631–0.763; P < 0.001) respectively). Conclusion: Our model highlights the demographic, illness-related and environmental determinants of the PoD in communities with patchy provision of palliative care. It also urges policymakers and service providers to identify and take the local determinant of the place of death into account to match the goals of palliative and supportive services with the patient preferences. Background: Predictive modeling based on multi-omics data, which incorporates several types of omics data for the same patients, has shown potential to outperform single-omics predictive modeling. Most research in this domain focuses on incorporating numerous data types, despite the complexity and cost of acquiring them. The prevailing assumption is that increasing the number of data types necessarily improves predictive performance. However, the integration of less informative or redundant data types could potentially hinder this performance. Therefore, identifying the most effective combinations of omics data types that enhance predictive performance is critical for cost-effective and accurate predictions. Methods: In this study, we systematically evaluated the predictive performance of all 31 possible combinations including at least one of five genomic data types (mRNA, miRNA, methylation, DNAseq, and copy number variation) using 14 cancer datasets with right-censored survival outcomes, publicly available from the TCGA database. We employed various prediction methods and up-weighted clinical data in every model to leverage their predictive importance. Harrell's C-index and the integrated Brier Score were used as performance measures. To assess the robustness of our findings, we performed a bootstrap analysis at the level of the included datasets. Statistical testing was conducted for key results, limiting the number of tests to ensure a low risk of false positives. Results: Contrary to expectations, we found that using only mRNA data or a combination of mRNA and miRNA data was sufficient for most cancer types. For some cancer types, the additional inclusion of methylation data led to improved prediction results. Far from enhancing performance, the introduction of more data types most often resulted in a decline in performance, which varied between the two performance measures. Conclusions: Our findings challenge the prevailing notion that combining multiple omics data types in multi-omics survival prediction improves predictive performance. Thus, the widespread approach in multi-omics prediction of incorporating as many data types as possible should be reconsidered to avoid suboptimal prediction results and unnecessary expenditure. Background: Severe trauma is the leading cause of disability and mortality in the patients under 35 years of age. Surgical site infections (SSI) represent a significant complication in this patient population. However, they are often inadequately investigated, potentially impacting the quality of patient outcomes. The aim of this study was to investigate the epidemiology of SSI and risk factors in severe trauma patients. Methods: We conducted a multicenter retrospective cohort study screening the severe trauma patients (STP) admitted to two intensive care units of an academic institution in Marseille between years2018 and 2019. Those who underwent orthopedic or spinal surgery within 5 days after admission were included and classified into two groups according to the occurrence of SSI (defined by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) international diagnostic criteria) or not. Our secondary goal was to evaluate STP survival at 48 months, risk factors for SSI and microbiological features of SSI. Results: Forty-seven (23%) out of 207 STP developed an SSI. Mortality at 48-months did not differ between SSI and non-SSI patients (12.7% vs. 10.0%; p = 0.59). The fractures of 22 (47%) severe trauma patients with SSI were classified as Cauchoix 3 grade and 18 (38%) SSI were associated with the need for external fixators. Thirty (64%) severe trauma patients with SSI had polymicrobial infection, including 34 (72%) due to Gram-positive cocci. Empirical antibiotic therapy was effective in 31 (66%) cases. Multivariate analysis revealed that risk factors such as low hemoglobin, arterial oxygenation levels, hyperlactatemia, high serum creatinine and glycemia, and Cauchoix 3 grade on the day of surgery were associated with SSI in severe trauma patients. The generated predictive model showed a good prognosis performance with an AUC of 0.80 [0.73–0.88] and a high NPV of 95.9 [88.6–98.5] %. Conclusions: Our study found a high rate of SSI in severe trauma patients, although SSI was not associated with 48-month mortality. Background: Machine learning (ML) is extensively employed for forecasting the outcome of various illnesses. The objective of the study was to develop ML based classifiers using a stacking ensemble strategy to predict the Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA) recovery rate for patients with degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM). Methods: A total of 672 patients with DCM were included in the study and labeled with JOA recovery rate by 1-year follow-up. All data were collected during 2012–2023 and were randomly divided into training and testing (8:2) sub-datasets. A total of 91 initial ML classifiers were developed, and the top 3 initial classifiers with the best performance were further stacked into an ensemble classifier with a supported vector machine (SVM) classifier. The area under the curve (AUC) was the main indicator to assess the prediction performance of all classifiers. The primary predicted outcome was the JOA recovery rate. Results: By applying an ensemble learning strategy (e.g., stacking), the accuracy of the ML classifier improved following combining three widely used ML models (e.g., RFE-SVM, EmbeddingLR-LR, and RFE-AdaBoost). Decision curve analysis showed the merits of the ensemble classifiers, as the curves of the top 3 initial classifiers varied a lot in predicting JOA recovery rate in DCM patients. Conclusions: The ensemble classifiers successfully predict the JOA recovery rate in DCM patients, which showed a high potential for assisting physicians in managing DCM patients and making full use of medical resources. This study focuses on predicting the prognosis of acute ischemic stroke patients with focal neurologic symptoms using a combination of diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI) and clinical information. The primary outcome is a poor functional outcome defined by a modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score of 3–6 after 3 months of stroke. Employing nnUnet for DWI lesion segmentation, the study utilizes both multi-task and multi-modality methodologies, integrating DWI and clinical data for prognosis prediction. Integrating the two modalities was shown to improve performance by 0.04 compared to using DWI only. The model achieves notable performance metrics, with a dice score of 0.7375 for lesion segmentation and an area under the curve of 0.8080 for mRS prediction. These results surpass existing scoring systems, showing a 0.16 improvement over the Totaled Health Risks in Vascular Events score. The study further employs grad-class activation maps to identify critical brain regions influencing mRS scores. Analysis of the feature map reveals the efficacy of the multi-tasking nnUnet in predicting poor outcomes, providing insights into the interplay between DWI and clinical data. Shear strength (SS) parameters are essential for understanding the mechanical behavior of materials, particularly in geotechnical engineering and rock mechanics. This study proposes a novel hierarchical ensemble model (HEM) to predict SS parameters: cohesion (C ) and angle of internal friction (φ ). The HEM addresses the limitations of traditional machine learning models. Its performance was validated using leave-one-out cross-validation (LOOCV) and out-of-bag (OOB) evaluation methods. The model's accuracy was assessed with R-squared correlation (R2), absolute average relative error percentage (AAREP), Taylor diagrams, and quantile–quantile plots. The computational results demonstrated that the proposed HEM outperforms previous studies using the same database. The model predicted φ and C with R2 values of 0.93 and 0.979, respectively. The AAREP values were 1.96% for φ and 4.7% for C . These results indicate that the HEM significantly improves the prediction quality of φ and C , and exhibits strong generalization capability. Sensitivity analysis revealed that σ_3maxσ3max (maximum principal stress) had the greatest impact on modeling both φ and C . Objective: The aim of this study was to compare hematological parameters preand early post-chemotherapy, and evaluate their values for predicting febrile neutropenia (FN). Methods: Patients diagnosed with malignant solid tumors receiving chemotherapy were included. Blood cell counts peri-chemotherapy and clinical information were retrieved from the hospital information system. We used the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) method for variable selection and fitted selected variables to a logistic model. We assessed the performance of the prediction model by the area under the ROC curve. Results: The study population consisted of 4,130 patients with common solid tumors receiving a three-week chemotherapy regimen in Sichuan Cancer Hospital from February 2019 to March 2022. In the FN group, change percentage of neutrophil count decreased less (-0.02, CI: -0.88 to 3.48 vs. -0.04, CI: -0.83 to 2.24). Among hematological parameters, lower postchemotherapy lymphocyte count (OR 0.942, CI: 0.934-0.949), change percentage of platelet (OR 0.965, CI: 0.955-0.975) and higher change percentage of post-chemotherapy neutrophil count (OR 1.015, CI: 1.011- 1.018), and pre-chemotherapy NLR (OR 1.002, CI: 1.002-1.002) predicted an increased risk of FN. These factors improved the predicting model based on clinical factors alone. The AUC of the combination model was 0.8275. Objectives: This study modelled diabetes risk for population groups in Canada defined by socioeconomic and lifestyle characteristics and investigated inequities in diabetes risk using a validated population risk prediction algorithm. Methods: We defined population groups, informed by determinants of health frameworks. We applied the Diabetes Population Risk Tool (DPoRT) to 2017/2018 Canadian Community Health Survey data to predict 10-year diabetes risk and cases across population groups. We modelled a preventive intervention scenario to estimate reductions in diabetes for population groups and impacts on the inequity in diabetes risk across income and education. Results: The population group with at least one lifestyle and at least one socioeconomic/ structural risk factor had the highest estimated 10-year diabetes risk and number of new cases. When an intervention with a 5% relative risk reduction was modelled for this population group, diabetes risk decreased by 0.5% (females) and 0.7% (males) and the inequity in diabetes risk across income and education levels was reduced. Background: Chromosomal 1q gains and amplifications (+1q21) are frequently observed in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM). However, the interpretation of the high‐risk (HR) prognostic implications stemming from 1q21 abnormalities remain challenging to implement effectively. Methods: In a comprehensive analysis of 367 consecutive patients with symptomatic MM, we assessed the prognostic significance of +1q21 using FISH with a threshold of 7.4%. The patient cohort was randomly divided into a training set (66.5%, n = 244) and a validation set (33.5%, n = 133). A multivariate Cox regression analysis was conducted to identify significant prognostic factors associated with PFS. Weight scores were assigned to each risk factor based on the β‐value of the corresponding regression coefficient. A predictive risk‐scoring model involving +1q21 was then developed, utilizing the total score derived from these weight scores. The model's discriminative ability was evaluated using the AUC in both the training and validation sets. Finally, we compared the performance of the +1q21‐involved risk with the established R‐ISS and R2‐ISS models. Results: Upon initial diagnosis, 159 patients (43.32%) exhibited +1q21, with 94 (59.11%) having three copies, referred to as Gain(1q21), and 65 (40.89%) possessing four or more copies, referred to as Amp (1q21). Both were significantly linked to a reduced PFS in myeloma (p < 0.05), which could be effectively mitigated by ASCT. The +1q21‐involved risk model, with an AUC of 0.697 in the training set and 0.725 in the validation set, was constructed including Gain(1q21), Amp(1q21), no‐ASCT, and TP53 deletion. This model, termed the ultra‐high‐risk (UHR) model, demonstrated superior performance in predicting shorter PFS compared to the R‐ISS stage 3 and R2‐ISS stage 4. Conclusion: The UHR model, which integrates the presence of +1q21 with no‐ASCT and TP53 deletion, is designed to identify the early relapse subgroup among patients with +1q21 in NDMM. In this work, we present a study about the application of bi-temporal, large interval aerial laser scans for constructing of tree growth models and estimating site index quality based on the measured increments from the laser scans. We compared two LiDAR scans with 14 years of difference in the national park area, where most areas are unmanaged. We derived the increment curve based on the Chapman-Richard growth formula. We used site index estimates from forest management plans from the national scale as the ground truth (both absolute and relative). We constructed three predictive models for site index estimates from bi-temporal scans, in modalities with and without stand age. Including the stand age improved all models, but even without the age, the models performed relatively well for differentiation between better and worse sites. At this moment, it is not directly possible to estimate age from remotely sensed data, but consistent monitoring, with laser scanning or photogrammetry, undoubtedly detects the harvest or dieback, so in the future, age can be considered as a variable easily estimated from remotely sensed data and so remote sensed material are viable source for understanding of forest growth and production. In many practical problems, there is interest in the estimation of mixed effect projections for new data that are outside the range of the training data. Examples include predicting extreme small area means for rare populations or making treatment decisions for patients who do not fit typical risk profiles. Standard methods have long been known to struggle with such problems since the training data may not provide enough information about potential model changes for these new data values (extrapolation bias). We propose a new framework called Prediction Using Random-effect Extrapolation (PURE) which involves constructing a generalized independent variable hull (gIVH) to isolate a minority training set which is "close" to the prediction space, followed by a regrouping of the minority data according to the response variable which results in a new (but misspecified) random effect distribution. This misspecification reflects "extrapolated random effects" which prove vital to capture information that is needed for accurate model projections. Projections are then made using classified mixed model prediction (CMMP) (?) with the regrouped minority data. Comprehensive simulation studies and analysis of data from the National Longitudinal Mortality Study (NLMS) demonstrate superior predictive performance in these very challenging paradigms. A predictive model utilizing near-infrared spectroscopy was developed to estimate the loss on drying, total contents of crocin I and crocin II, and picrocrocin content of saffron. Initially, the LD values were determined using a moisture-ash analyzer, while HPLC was employed for measuring the total contents of crocin I, crocin II, and picrocrocin. The near-infrared spectra of 928 saffron samples were collected and preprocessed using first derivative, standard normal variable transformation, detrended correction, multivariate scattering correction, Savitzky–Golay smoothing, and mean centering methods. Leveraging the partial least squares method, regression models were constructed, with parameters optimized through a selective combination of the above six preprocessing methods. Subsequently, prediction models for loss on drying, total contents of crocin I and crocin II, and picrocrocin content were established, and the prediction accuracy of the models was verified. Background: The term "super responder" identifies a group of patients who exhibit a rapid and optimal response to biological treatment compared to the overall treated population. The primary objective of our study is to characterize this subgroup of patients to enable the early identification of those who will respond most effectively to the proposed treatment while also evaluating clinical efficacy. Methods: This retrospective study evaluated 232 patients treated with guselkumab in monotherapy for at least 20 weeks between November 2018 and November 2023. Patients were divided into two groups: those who achieved complete clear skin (PASI = 0) during the first 20 weeks of treatment were defined as super responders (SRe) and non-super responders (nSRe) were the remaining patients. PASI was assessed at weeks 0, 4, and subsequently every eight weeks. Predictors of the SRe status were evaluated by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Results: The univariate analyses showed that patients with psoriatic arthritis at the baseline, bio-naïve patients, or those who had not received an interleukin (IL) 17 inhibitor as their last therapy before guselkumab administration were more likely to be super responders to the proposed treatment. Multivariate logistic analysis models suggested that the combination of psoriatic arthritis at the baseline and the bio-naïve condition was the strongest predictive model for the SRe status. At week 204, the main difference between the two groups concerned the achievement of PASI100, maintained by 86.8 of SRe compared to 62.8% of nSRe. Conclusions: The efficacy and safety of guselkumab are confirmed in our real-life experience. Background: Bipolar disorder (BD) involves significant mood and energy shifts reflected in speech patterns. Detecting these patterns is crucial for diagnosis and monitoring, currently assessed subjectively. Advances in natural language processing offer opportunities to objectively analyze them. Aims: To (i) correlate speech features with manic-depressive symptom severity in BD, (ii) develop predictive models for diagnostic and treatment outcomes, and (iii) determine the most relevant speech features and tasks for these analyses. Methods: This naturalistic, observational study involved longitudinal audio recordings of BD patients at euthymia, during acute manic/depressive phases, and after-response. Patients participated in clinical evaluations, cognitive tasks, standard text readings, and storytelling. After automatic diarization and transcription, speech features, including acoustics, content, formal aspects, and emotionality, will be extracted. Statistical analyses will (i) correlate speech features with clinical scales, (ii) use lasso logistic regression to develop predictive models, and (iii) identify relevant speech features. Results: Audio recordings from 76 patients (24 manic, 21 depressed, 31 euthymic) were collected. The mean age was 46.0 ± 14.4 years, with 63.2% female. The mean YMRS score for manic patients was 22.9 ± 7.1, reducing to 5.3 ± 5.3 post-response. Depressed patients had a mean HDRS-17 score of 17.1 ± 4.4, decreasing to 3.3 ± 2.8 post-response. Euthymic patients had mean YMRS and HDRS-17 scores of 0.97 ± 1.4 and 3.9 ± 2.9, respectively. Following data pre-processing, including noise reduction and feature extraction, comprehensive statistical analyses will be conducted to explore correlations and develop predictive models. Outliers are a common problem in applied statistics, together with multicollinearity. In this paper, robust Liu estimators are introduced into a partially linear model to combat the presence of multicollinearity and outlier challenges when the error terms are not independent and some linear constraints are assumed to hold in the parameter space. The Liu estimator is used to address the multicollinearity, while robust methods are used to handle the outlier problem. In the literature on the Liu methodology, obtaining the best value for the biased parameter plays an important role in model prediction and is still an unsolved problem. In this regard, some robust estimators of the biased parameter are proposed based on the least trimmed squares (LTS) technique and its extensions using a semidefinite programming approach. Based on a set of observations with a sample size of n, and the integer trimming parameter h ≤ n, the LTS estimator computes the hyperplane that minimizes the sum of the lowest h squared residuals. Even though the LTS estimator is statistically more effective than the widely used least median squares (LMS) estimate, it is less complicated computationally than LMS. It is shown that the proposed robust extended Liu estimators perform better than classical estimators. As part of our proposal, using Monte Carlo simulation schemes and a real data example, the performance of robust Liu estimators is compared with that of classical ones in restricted partially linear models. Time-series data are prevalent across various fields and present unique challenges for deep learning models due to irregular time intervals and missing records, which hinder the ability to capture temporal information effectively. This study proposes ChronoVectors, a novel temporal representation method that addresses these challenges by enabling a more specialized encoding of temporal relationships through the use of learnable parameters tailored to the dataset's dynamics while maintaining consistent time intervals post-scaling. The theoretical demonstration shows that ChronoVectors allow the transformed encoding tensors to map moments in time to continuous spaces, accommodating potentially infinite extensions of the sequence and preserving temporal consistency. In recent years, the ability to accurately predict age and gender from facial images has gained significant traction across various fields such as personalized marketing, human–computer interaction, and security surveillance. However, the high computational cost of the current models limits their practicality for real-time applications on resource-constrained devices. This study addressed this challenge by leveraging knowledge distillation to develop lightweight age and gender prediction models that maintain a high accuracy. We propose a knowledge distillation method using teacher bounds for the efficient learning of small models for age and gender. This method allows the student model to selectively receive the teacher model's knowledge, preventing it from unconditionally learning from the teacher in challenging age/gender prediction tasks involving factors like illusions and makeup. Our experiments used MobileNetV3 and EfficientFormer as the student models and Vision Outlooker (VOLO)-D1 as the teacher model, resulting in substantial efficiency improvements. MobileNetV3-Small, one of the student models we experimented with, achieved a 94.27% reduction in parameters and a 99.17% reduction in Giga Floating Point Operations per Second (GFLOPs). Furthermore, the distilled MobileNetV3-Small model improved gender prediction accuracy from 88.11% to 90.78%. Our findings confirm that knowledge distillation can effectively enhance model performance across diverse demographic groups while ensuring efficiency for deployment on embedded devices. Existing control strategies, such as Real-time Optimization (RTO), Dynamic Real-time Optimization (DRTO), and Economic Model Predictive Control (EMPC) cannot enable optimal operation and control behavior in an optimal fashion. This work proposes a novel control strategy, named the efficiency-oriented model predictive control (MPC), which can fully realize the potential of the optimization margin to improve the global process performance of the whole system. The ideas of optimization margin and optimization efficiency are first proposed to measure the superiority of the control strategy. Our new efficiency-oriented MPC innovatively uses a nested optimization structure to optimize the optimization margin directly online. To realize the computation, a Periodic Approximation technique is proposed, and an Efficiency-Oriented MPC Type I is constructed based on the Periodic Approximation. In order to alleviate the strict constraint of Efficiency-Oriented MPC Type I, the zone-control-based optimization concept is used to construct an Efficiency-Oriented MPC Type II. These two well-designed efficiency-oriented controllers were compared with other control strategies over a Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) application. The simulation results show that the proposed control strategy can generate superior closed-loop process performance, for example, and the Efficiency-Oriented MPC Type I can obtain 7.11% higher profits than those of other control strategies; the effectiveness of the efficiency-oriented MPC was, thereby, demonstrated. Surface electromyography (sEMG) offers a novel method in human–machine interactions (HMIs) since it is a distinct physiological electrical signal that conceals human movement intention and muscle information. Unfortunately, the nonlinear and non-smooth features of sEMG signals often make joint angle estimation difficult. This paper proposes a joint angle prediction model for the continuous estimation of wrist motion angle changes based on sEMG signals. The proposed model combines a temporal convolutional network (TCN) with a long short-term memory (LSTM) network, where the TCN can sense local information and mine the deeper information of the sEMG signals, while LSTM, with its excellent temporal memory capability, can make up for the lack of the ability of the TCN to capture the long-term dependence of the sEMG signals, resulting in a better prediction. We validated the proposed method in the publicly available Ninapro DB1 dataset by selecting the first eight subjects and picking three types of wrist-dependent movements: wrist flexion (WF), wrist ulnar deviation (WUD), and wrist extension and closed hand (WECH). Finally, the proposed TCN-LSTM model was compared with the TCN and LSTM models. The proposed TCN-LSTM outperformed the TCN and LSTM models in terms of the root mean square error (RMSE) and average coefficient of determination (R2). The TCN-LSTM model achieved an average RMSE of 0.064, representing a 41% reduction compared to the TCN model and a 52% reduction compared to the LSTM model. Combining medical IoT and artificial intelligence technology is an effective approach to achieve the intelligence of medical equipment. This integration can address issues such as low image quality caused by fluctuations in power quality and potential equipment damage, and this study proposes a predictive model, ISSA-TCN-BiLSTM, based on a bi-directional long short-term memory network (BiLSTM). Firstly, power quality data and other data from MRI and CT equipment within a 6-month period are collected using current fingerprint technology. The key factors affecting the active power of medical equipment are explored using the Pearson coefficient method. Subsequently, a Temporal Convolutional Network (TCN) is employed to conduct multi-layer convolution operations on the input temporal feature sequences, enabling the learning of global temporal feature information while minimizing the interference of redundant data. Additionally, bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) is integrated to model the intermediate active power features, facilitating accurate prediction of medical equipment power quality. Additionally, an improved Sparrow Search Algorithm (ISSA) is utilized for hyperparameter optimization of the TCN-BiLSTM model, enabling optimization of the active power of different medical equipment. Experimental results demonstrate that the ISSA-TCN-BiLSTM model outperforms other comparative models in terms of RMSE, MSE, and R2, with values of 0.1143, 0.1157, 0.0873, 0.0817, 0.95, and 0.96, respectively, for MRI and CT equipment. The purpose of this study was to identify predictive factors for the occurrence of preoperative and postoperative seizures. The data of patients with resection of histologically confirmed meningioma at University Hospital Leipzig from 2009 to 2018 were retrospectively examined. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses of different factors influencing seizure outcome were performed. The male gender was identified as an independent positive predictor for preoperative seizures (odds ratio [OR] 1.917 [95% confidence interval {CI} 1.044–3.521], p = 0.036), whereas headache (OR 0.230 [95% CI 0.091–0.582], p = 0.002) and neurological deficits (OR 0.223; [95% CI 0.121–0.410], p < 0.001) were demonstrated to be negative predictive factors. However, given the non-linear dependencies between patient- and tumor-related risk factors contributing to cumulative surgical risk, machine learning (ML) may evolve as a novel and more integrated approach for mortality prediction. We evaluated the IESG risk model and compared its performance to ML models. Multiple classifiers were trained and validated on 552 patients from two independent centers undergoing oncologic esophagectomies. The discrimination performance of each model was assessed utilizing the area under the receiver operating characteristics curve (AUROC), the area under the precision–recall curve (AUPRC), and the Matthews correlation coefficient (MCC). The 90-day mortality rate was 5.8%. We found that IESG categorization allowed for adequate group-based risk prediction. However, ML models provided better discrimination performance, reaching superior AUROCs (0.64 [0.63–0.65] vs. 0.44 [0.32–0.56]), AUPRCs (0.25 [0.24–0.27] vs. 0.11 [0.05–0.21]), and MCCs (0.27 ([0.25–0.28] vs. 0.15 [0.03–0.27]). However, PI-RADS has its limitations, such as inter- and intra-radiologist variability and the potential for imperceptible features. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a machine learning model based on radiomics analysis of MRI T2-weighted (T2w) images for predicting PCa in prebiopsy cases. Method: A retrospective analysis was conducted using 820 lesions (363 cases, 457 controls) from The Cancer Imaging Archive (TCIA) Database for model development and validation. An additional 83 lesions (30 cases, 53 controls) from Hong Kong Queen Mary Hospital were used for independent external validation. The MRI T2w images were preprocessed, and radiomic features were extracted. Feature selection was performed using Cross Validation Least Angle Regression (CV-LARS). Using three different machine learning algorithms, a total of 18 prediction models and 3 shape control models were developed. The performance of the models, including the area under the curve (AUC) and diagnostic values such as sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV), were compared to the PI-RADS scoring system for both internal and external validation. Results: All the models showed significant differences compared to the shape control model (all p < 0.001, except SVM model PI-RADS+2 Features p = 0.004, SVM model PI-RADS+3 Features p = 0.002). In internal validation, the best model, based on the LR algorithm, incorporated 3 radiomic features (AUC = 0.838, sensitivity = 76.85%, specificity = 77.36%). In external validation, the LR (3 features) model outperformed PI-RADS in predictive value with AUC 0.870 vs. 0.658, sensitivity 56.67% vs. 46.67%, specificity 92.45% vs. 84.91%, PPV 80.95% vs. 63.64%, and NPV 79.03% vs. 73.77%. In this paper, a consensus-based model predictive control (Cb-MPC) scheme is proposed to control the active power and voltage at all nodes in grid-connected active distribution networks (ADNs) with multiple distributed energy resources (DERs). The proposed design methodology is based on a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) model of an ADN which accounts for both the internal and external interactions among the control loops of the DERs. To achieve the control objective, each DER unit is equipped with a controller–observer system. In particular, the observer implements the consensus algorithm to estimate the collective system state by exchanging data only with its neighbors. The scope of the controller is to solve the MPC optimal problem based on its collective state estimate, and, due to the presence of an integral term in the control action, it is robust against any unknown scenarios of the ADN, which are represented by uncertainty in the model parameters. To improve the performance of the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor control system, a Markov decision model predictive current control strategy based on a lumped disturbances sliding mode disturbance observer is proposed in this paper. A fast terminal sliding mode disturbance observer based on a recursive integral sliding surface is designed to observe and compensate the unideal factors in the motor control system unified as lumped disturbances. Then, according to the characteristic of model predictive control where only the first vector in the optimal control sequence is selected and applied to the system during rolling optimization, the discounted cost criterion based on the Markov decision process is introduced to enhance the control performance of the system. The compensation of lumped disturbances can eliminate the impact of unideal factors, enhance the dynamic performance of the speed loop, and eliminate the static errors in the current loop. The introduction of the discounted cost criterion can reduce the fluctuations in system states without affecting the system's dynamic performance. Forecasting the electricity market, even in the short term, is a difficult task, due to the nature of this commodity, the lack of storage capacity, and the multiplicity and volatility of factors that influence its price. The sensitivity of the market results in the appearance of anomalies in the market, during which forecasting models often break down. The aim of this paper is to present the possibility of using hybrid machine learning models to forecast the price of electricity, especially when such events occur. It includes the automatic detection of anomalies using three different switch types and two independent forecasting models, one for use during periods of stable markets and the other during periods of anomalies. The results of empirical tests conducted on data from the Polish energy market showed that the proposed solution improves the overall quality of prediction compared to using each model separately and significantly improves the quality of prediction during anomaly periods. To enhance the stability of photovoltaic power grid integration and improve power prediction accuracy, a photovoltaic power prediction method based on an improved snow ablation optimization algorithm (Good Point and Vibration Snow Ablation Optimizer, GVSAO) and Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) network is proposed. Weather data is divided into three typical categories using K-means clustering, and data normalization is performed using the minmax method. A prediction model is constructed based on GVSAO-Bi-LSTM, and typical test functions are selected to analyze and evaluate the improved model. When using point-by-point data input with former series models for wind power prediction, the prediction accuracy decreases due to data distribution shifts and the inability to extract local information. To address these issues, this paper proposes an ultra-short-term wind power prediction model based on the Z-score (ZS), Dish-TS (DT), and Patch time series Transformer (PatchTST). Firstly, to reduce the impact of data distribution shift on prediction accuracy, ZS standardization is applied to both training and testing datasets. Additionally, the DT algorithm, which can self-learn the mean and variance, is introduced for window data standardization. Secondly, the PatchTST model is employed to convert point input data into local-level input data. Feature extraction is then performed using the multi-head attention mechanism in the Encoder layer and a feed-forward network composed of one-dimensional convolution to obtain the prediction results. These results are subsequently de-standardized using DT and ZS to restore the original data amplitude. Finally, experimental analysis is conducted, comparing the proposed ZS-DT-PatchTST model with various prediction models. In urban building management, accurate prediction of building energy consumption is significant in realizing energy conservation and improving energy efficiency. Due to the complexity and variability of energy consumption data, existing prediction models face the challenge of difficult parameter selection, which directly affects their accuracy and application. To solve this problem, this study proposes an improved particle swarm algorithm (IPSO) for optimizing the parameters of the least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) and constructing an energy consumption prediction model based on IPSO-LSSVM. The model fully combines the advantages of LSSVM in terms of nonlinear fitting and generalization ability and uses the IPSO algorithm to adjust the parameters precisely. By analyzing the sample data characteristics and validating them on two different types of building energy consumption datasets, the results of the study show that, compared with traditional baseline models such as back-propagation neural networks (BP) and support vector regression (SVR), the model proposed in this study is more accurate and efficient in parameter selection and significantly reduces the prediction error rate. The forecast of the optimal placement of a charging station (CS) according to the real-time consumption of electric vehicles is a subject of urgency in this new era. The demand of a charging station in an area based on the trend of consumption can be predicted by means of interpolation and the extrapolation of historical data using a linear function of prediction model. The proposed model uses Distributional Homogeneity Feature Optimization (DHFO) using artificial intelligence (AI) to categorize and forecast the charging station from the database. The prediction performance of this model is improved more than the conventional classification model by filtering the apt features from all the electric vehicular and charging station attributes in the database. The Enhanced Cladistic Neural Network (ECNN) is used to improve the pattern learning model and increase learning accuracy. Floating photovoltaic (FPV) systems are gaining popularity as a valuable means of harnessing solar energy on unused water surfaces. However, a significant gap persists in our comprehension of their thermal dynamics and the purported cooling benefits they provide. The lack of comprehensive monitoring data across different climatic regions and topographies aggravates this uncertainty. This paper reviews the applicability of established module temperature prediction models, originally developed for land-based PV systems, to FPVs. It then details the refinement of these models using FPV-specific data and their subsequent validation through large-scale, ongoing FPV projects. The result is a significant improvement in the accuracy of temperature predictions, as evidenced by the reduced Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and improved R-squared ( R 2 ) after parameter optimisation. This reduction means that the tailored models better reflect the distinct environmental influences and cooling processes characteristic of FPV systems. The results not only confirm the success of the proposed method in refining the accuracy of current models, but also indicate significant post-tuning changes in the parameters representing wind and convective effects. These adjustments highlight the increased responsiveness of FPVs to convective actions, especially when compared to ground-based systems, possibly due to the evaporative cooling effect of bodies of water. High-quality short-term forecasts of electrical energy generation in solar power plants are crucial in the dynamically developing sector of renewable power generation. This article addresses the issue of selecting appropriate (preferred) methods for forecasting energy generation from a solar power plant within a 15 min time horizon. The effectiveness of various machine learning methods was verified. Additionally, the effectiveness of proprietary ensemble and hybrid methods was proposed and examined. The research also aimed to determine the appropriate sets of input variables for the predictive models. To enhance the performance of the predictive models, proprietary additional input variables (feature engineering) were constructed. The significance of individual input variables was examined depending on the predictive model used. Ceramic slurry is the raw material used in stereolithography, and its performance determines the printing quality. Rheological behavior, one of the most important physical factors in stereolithography, is critical in ceramic printing, significantly affecting the flow, spreading, and printing processes. The rheological behavior of SiO2 slurry used in stereolithography technology is investigated in the current research using different powder diameters and temperatures. The results present the apparent non-Newtonian behavior. The yielding characteristics occur in all cases. For single-powder cases, the viscosity decreases when the powder diameter is increased. When the nano-sized and micro-sized powders are mixed in different proportions, a more significant proportion of micron-sized powders will decrease the viscosity. With an increase in the nano-sized powders, the slurry exhibits the shear thinning behavior; otherwise, the shear thickening behavior is observed. Thus, the prediction model is built based on the use of the pelican optimization algorithm-deep extreme learning machine (POA-DELM), and the model in then compared with the fitted and traditional models to validate the effectiveness of the method. The transmission of high-frequency signals over long distances depends on the ionosphere's reflective properties, with the selection of operating frequencies being closely tied to variations in the ionosphere. The accurate prediction of ionospheric critical frequency foF2 and other parameters in low latitudes is of great significance for understanding ionospheric changes in high-frequency communications. Currently, deep learning algorithms demonstrate significant advantages in capturing characteristics of the ionosphere. In this paper, a state-of-the-art hybrid neural network is utilized in conjunction with a temporal pattern attention mechanism for predicting variations in the foF2 parameter during high- and low-solar activity years. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM), which is capable of extracting spatiotemporal features of ionospheric variations, are incorporated into a hybrid neural network. The foF2 data used for training and testing come from three observatories in Brisbane (27°53′S, 152°92′E), Darwin (12°45′S, 130°95′E) and Townsville (19°63′S, 146°85′E) in 2000, 2008, 2009 and 2014 (the peak or trough years of solar activity in solar cycles 23 and 24), using the advanced Australian Digital Ionospheric Sounder. The results show that the proposed model accurately captures the changes in ionospheric foF2 characteristics and outperforms International Reference Ionosphere 2020 (IRI-2020) and BiLSTM ionospheric prediction models. In recent years, research on adversarial attack techniques for remote sensing object detection (RSOD) has made great progress. Still, most of the research nowadays is on end-to-end attacks, which mainly design adversarial perturbations based on the prediction information of the object detectors (ODs) to achieve the attack. These methods do not discover the common vulnerabilities of the ODs and, thus, the transferability is weak. Based on this, this paper proposes a foreground feature approximation (FFA) method to generate adversarial examples (AEs) that discover the common vulnerabilities of the ODs by changing the feature information carried by the image itself to implement the attack. Specifically, firstly, the high-quality predictions are filtered as attacked objects using the detector, after which a hybrid image without any target is made, and the hybrid foreground is created based on the attacked targets. The images' shallow features are extracted using the backbone network, and the features of the input foreground are approximated towards the hybrid foreground to implement the attack. In contrast, the model predictions are used to assist in realizing the attack. In addition, we have found the effectiveness of FFA for targeted attacks, and replacing the hybrid foreground with the targeted foreground can realize targeted attacks. Extensive experiments are conducted on the remote sensing target detection datasets DOTA and UCAS-AOD with seven rotating target detectors. The results show that the mAP of FFA under the IoU threshold of 0.5 untargeted attack is 3.4% lower than that of the advanced method, and the mAP of FFA under targeted attack is 1.9% lower than that of the advanced process. Simple Summary: This study introduces a deep learning model designed to predict the 5-year recurrence risk of lung adenocarcinoma based on histopathology images. Traditionally, microscopic evaluation of tumor grading in resected specimens is a standard pathologic practice that informs subsequent therapy and patient management. However, this approach is labor-intensive and subject to inter-observer variability. To address the challenge of accurately predicting recurrence, we propose a deep learning-based model to predict the 5-year recurrence of LUAD in patients following surgical resection. In our model, we introduce an innovative dual-attention architecture that significantly enhances computational efficiency. Our model demonstrates excellent performance in recurrent risk stratification, achieving a hazard ratio of 2.29 (95% CI: 1.69–3.09, p < 0.005), which outperforms several existing deep learning methods. In light of instances in which the medical research community has often evolved some unrealistic expectations regarding the advances in AI and its potential use for medical purposes, implementing standard procedures for AI-based cancer models is critical. Specifically, models would have to meet some general parameters for standardization, transparency of their logistic modules, and avoidance of algorithm biases. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge about AI-based prognostic methods and describe how they may be used in the future for predicting antibody-drug conjugate efficacy in cancer patients. This study addresses the pressing need for improved stock price prediction models in the financial markets, focusing on the Indonesian stock market. It introduces an innovative approach that utilizes the custom activation function RunReLU within a concave long short-term memory (LSTM) framework. The primary objective is to enhance prediction accuracy, ultimately assisting investors and market participants in making more informed decisions. The research methodology used historical stock price data from ten prominent companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, covering the period from July 6, 2015, to October 14, 2021. Evaluation metrics such as RMSE, MAE, MAPE, and R2 were employed to assess model performance. The results consistently favored the RunReLUbased model over the ReLU-based model, showcasing lower RMSE and MAE values, higher R2 values, and notably reduced MAPE values. The physiological activities within cells are mainly regulated through protein–protein interactions (PPI). Therefore, studying protein interactions has become an essential part of researching protein function and mechanisms. Traditional biological experiments required for PPI prediction are expensive and time consuming. For this reason, many methods based on predicting PPI from protein sequences have been proposed in recent years. However, existing computational methods usually require the combination of evolutionary feature information of proteins to predict PPI docking situations. Because different relevant features of selected proteins are chosen, there may be differences in the predicted results for PPI. This article proposes a PPI prediction method based on the pretrained protein sequence model ProtBert, combined with the Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Unit (BiGRU) and attention mechanism. Only using protein sequence information and leveraging ProtBert's powerful ability to capture amino acid feature information, BiGRU is used for further feature extraction of the amino acid vectors output by ProtBert. The attention mechanism is then applied to enhance the focus on different amino acid features and improve the expression ability of protein sequence features, ultimately obtaining binary classification results for protein interactions. Experimental results show that our proposed ProtBert-BiGRU-Attention model has good predictive performance for PPI. Through relevant comparative experiments, it has been proven that our model performs well in protein binary prediction. Objective: To compare the Guy’s, S.T.O.N.E, and CROES nomograms for predicting stone-free status in patients who underwent percutaneous nephrolithotomy for renal stones. Materials and Methods: The data of 1114 patients who underwent percutaneous nephrolithotomy for renal calculi between 11/2008 and 08/2018 in our clinic were retrospectively reviewed. Various parameters evaluated by preoperative computed tomography and the scoring systems of the patients and postoperative stone-free status were compared. Results: Out of 1000 patients who met the study criteria. Gender, body mass index, and stone density were not statistically different between the group with residual stones and the stone-free group. However, stone size, number of renal accesses, duration of fluoroscopy usage, duration of operation, number of stones, and complication rate were significantly higher in the group with residual stones than in the stone-free group. A statistically significant correlation was found between the postoperative stone-free rate and scoring systems. The applicability and preoperative prediction ability of all three systems were evaluated by receiver operating characteristic analysis. The area under the curve (AUC) was detected in the Guy’s, CROES, and S.T.O.N.E scoring system (AUC: 0.642, 0.665, 0.592 respectively). The six‐minute walking test (6MWT) is commonly used to measure functional capacity in field settings, primarily through the distance covered. This study aims to establish reference curves for the six‐minute walking distance (6MWD) and peak heart rate (PHR) and develop a predictive equation for cardiovascular capacity in Tunisian children and adolescents. A total of 1501 participants (706 boys and 795 girls), aged 10–18 years, were recruited from schools in Tunisia. The Lambda (L), Mu (M), and Sigma (S) methods (LMS method) were employed to develop smoothed percentile curves for 6MWD and PHR. Multivariate linear regression was utilized to formulate a prediction equation for 6MWD. Smoothed percentiles (3rd, 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 90th, and 97th) for 6MWD and PHR were presented with age. All variables showed a strong positive correlation (p < 0.001) with a six‐minute walking distance (r ranged from 0.227 to 0.558 for girls and from 0.309 to 0.610 for boys), except resting heart rate, which showed a strong negative correlation (girls: r = −0.136; boys: r = −0.201; p < 0.001). Additionally, PHR showed a weak correlation (p > 0.05). The prediction equations, based on age as the primary variable, were established for both genders. For boys: 6MWD = 66.181 + 38.142 × Age (years) (R2 = 0.372; Standard Error of Estimate (SEE) = 122.13), and for girls: 6MWD = 105.535 + 28.390 × Age (years) (R2 = 0.312; SEE = 103.66). The study provides normative values and predictive equations for 6MWD and PHR in Tunisian children and adolescents. These findings offer essential tools for identifying, monitoring, and interpreting cardiovascular functional deficits in clinical and research settings.
