Objective. The number of cancer survivors is increasing, and the high prevalence of frailty not only reduces quality of life but also affects the treatment of cancer patients. This study aimed to identify the prevalence and risk factors of frailty in cancer patients and to construct a nomogram to predict the probability of frailty. Methods. Nine hundred fifty‐eight cancer patients were included in this retrospective study, randomly divided into a development set (n = 680) and a validation set (n = 278). Frailty was assessed using the Tilburg frailty indicator (TFI). Social support, medical coping styles, and psychological distress were assessed by the Social Support Self‐Rating Scale (SSRS), Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire (MCMQ), and distress thermometer (DT), respectively. Results. The prevalence of frailty in cancer patients was 45.93%. Cancer patients who exercised regularly, ate a balanced diet, and actively coped with diseases were less likely to become frail. The risk factors for frailty identified by a multivariate analysis were parenteral nutrition, advanced TNM staging, vegetarian diet, unemployment, psychological distress ≥4, low physical activity, and negative coping styles. These risk factors were used to construct a nomogram, and the C‐index, calibration curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to assess the performance of the nomogram. The C‐index was 0.762, and the calibration curve showed satisfactory coherence. The net benefit of the nomogram was better between threshold probabilities of 17%–96% in DCA. Conclusion. Special focus needs to be placed on frail cancer patients due to their high prevalence and severe outcomes. Aim: To construct evidence-based sensitive quality indicators for patients' rapid rehabilitation care after combined pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) and to provide a reference for clinical nursing professionals to scientifically evaluate the quality of patients' rehabilitation post-PD. Background: Since PD is associated with higher surgical risk and anastomotic complications, it leads to higher complication rates and longer postoperative recovery cycles. This reiterates the need for rapid recovery of patients after PD; however, the evaluation of sensitive nursing care indicators regarding rapid recovery post-PD has not yet been established to date. Methods: Based on the Donabedian structure-process-result theory model, we used available literature, semi-structured interviews, the Delphi method, and hierarchical analysis to establish a sensitive indicator system for patients' rapid rehabilitation after PD and evaluate the importance of such indicators. Results: There were two rounds of expert correspondence, and the effective recovery rate of the questionnaires of these rounds was 100%. The expert authority coefficients, as well as the Kendall coordination coefficients of the expert opinions, were 0.859 and 0.872 as well as 0.423 and 0.431, with statistically significant differences (p < 0.05), respectively. Consequently, we developed a sensitive quality index system for patients' rapid rehabilitation care after combined PD, including 3 first-level, 12 s-level, and 23 third-level indexes, respectively. Conclusion: The constructed sensitive quality index system developed for patients' rapid rehabilitation nursing care after combined PD is standardized, practical, and aligned with the specialty characteristics. Furthermore, this might help greatly in improving the quality and safety of patients' rapid rehabilitation nursing care after combined PD, standardizing nursing management skills, and enhancing nursing quality. Background: Work-family enrichment refers to the extent to which experiences in one role improve the quality of life in another role, and the bidirectionality indicates that benefits derived from work can be applied to family and vice versa. Parent nurses, that is, female nurses who are raising preschool children, play a major role at work and in the family. Thus, work-family enrichment is significant for them. The Work-Family Enrichment Scale cannot be generalized to parent nurses. This study was aimed at developing and psychometrically validating a draft Work-Family Enrichment Scale for Parent Nurses. Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted among 1,090 parent nurses who were randomly sampled from hospitals with more than 200 beds in Japan. The survey evaluated (1) a draft Work-Family Enrichment Scale for Parent Nurses, (2) the Japanese version of the Work-Family Enrichment Scale, and (3) the Positive Spillover Scale. The scales were psychometrically evaluated for internal consistency, construct validity, and criterion-related validity. Results: Data from 503 participants (age, mean ± standard deviation [range] 35.5 ± 4.96 [23–47] years) were analyzed. Results of exploratory factor analysis, the work to family enrichment direction yielded five factors for 23 items: "emotional fulfillment," "efficiency," "ability to lead," "displaying industriousness," and "self-growth." Cronbach's alpha coefficients ranged from 0.862 to 0.914. In the family-to-work enrichment direction, there were five factors for 28 items: "help-seeking," "receptiveness," "expansion of one's horizon," "efficiency," and "emotional fulfillment." Cronbach's alpha coefficients ranged from 0.790 to 0.907. Additionally, the correlation coefficients reporting criterion-related validity were 0.685 and 0.619 with regard to the Japanese version of the Work-Family Enrichment Scale and 0.596 and 0.534 with the Positive Spillover Scale for the Work-to-Family Enrichment Scale and the Family-to-Work Enrichment Scale for Parent Nurses, respectively. Conclusions: The Work-Family Enrichment Scale for Parent Nurses has adequate reliability and validity and can be used as an effective measure to assess the positive aspects of work and family roles among female parent nurses. Background: The mandibular retromolar space (RMS) has not been extensively studied in relation to various sagittal skeletal classes and patterns of third-molar eruption. The objective of this study was to test the null hypothesis that there is no difference in the mandibular RMS among normodivergent subjects with different skeletal classes and patterns of mandibular third-molar eruption, using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Method: A total of 105 normodivergent patients (20–40 years) were included in this study. Participants were categorized into Class I, II and III groups based on ANB and further impacted and erupted groups based on the eruption patterns of the mandibular third molars. Measurements of the mandibular RMS were taken at four planes parallel to the occlusal plane, along the cusp line. Comparative analyses were conducted among the three sagittal groups and between the impacted and erupted groups. Results: The Class II group exhibited a statistically smaller RMS (P < 0.05). RMS was found to be larger in third-molar erupted group (P < 0.05). The rates of root contact and third-molar impaction was significantly higher in Class II group. (P < 0.05) Conclusions: The null hypothesis was rejected. Patients with Skeletal Class II tend to have a smaller mandibular RMS and a higher prevalence of root contact and third-molar impaction. Background: Limbic structures have recently garnered increased attention in Parkinson's disease (PD) research. This study aims to explore changes at the whole-brain level in the structural network, specifically the white matter fibres connecting the thalamus and limbic system, and their correlation with the clinical characteristics of patients with PD. Methods: Between December 2020 and November 2021, we prospectively enrolled 42 patients with PD and healthy controls at the movement disorder centre. All participants underwent diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), 3D T1- weighted imaging (3D-T1WI), and routine brain magnetic resonance imaging on a 3.0 T MR scanner. We employed the tract-based spatial statistical (TBSS) analytic approach, examined structural network properties, and conducted probabilistic fibre tractography to identify alterations in white matter pathways and the topological organisation associated with PD. Results: In patients with PD, significant changes were observed in the fibrous tracts of the prefrontal lobe, corpus callosum, and thalamus. Notably, the fibrous tracts in the prefrontal lobe and corpus callosum showed a moderate negative correlation with the Freezing of Gait Questionnaire (FOG-Q) scores (r = -0.423, p = 0.011). The hippocampus and orbitofrontal gyrus exhibited more fibre bundle parameter changes than other limbic structures. The mean streamline length between the thalamus and the orbitofrontal gyrus demonstrated a moderate negative correlation with Movement Disorder Society Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) III (r = -0.435, p = 0.006). Topological parameters, including characteristic path length (Lp), global efficiency (Eg), normalised shortest path length (λ) and nodal local efficiency (Nle), correlated moderately with the MDS-UPDRS, HAMA, MoCA, PDQ-39, and FOG-Q, respectively. Conclusion: DTI is a valuable tool for detecting changes in water molecule dispersion and the topological structure of the brain in patients with PD. Background: Primary health-care workers (PHWs) managed increased workloads and pressure during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study conducted a national survey examining burnout among PHWs at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, and identifies related factors. By doing so, it addresses the gap in understanding the burnout situation among PHWs at a national level, taking into account urban-rural disparities. Methods: We conducted a nationwide cross-sectional survey of PHWs in China from May to October 2022, covering 31 provinces. The MBI-HSS was used to measure overall burnout and emotional exhaustion (EE), depersonalization (DP), and reduced personal accomplishment (PA). We used multivariable logistic regression to identify risk factors, and subgroup analyses to identify differences between rural and urban areas. Results: 3769 PHWs from 44 primary health-care institutions completed the survey. Overall, 16.6% reported overall burnout, and the prevalence of EE, DP, and reduced PA was 29.7%, 28.0%, and 62.9%, respectively. The prevalence of overall burnout (17.6% vs. 13.7%, P = 0.004) and EE (31.5% vs. 24.8%, P < 0.001) was higher in urban than rural areas (AOR = 1.285; 95%CI, 1.021–1.617). Job satisfaction was a protective factor against burnout in both settings. The protective factors of overall burnout, EE and DP vary between urban and rural areas. Conclusions: The Mental Health Status Questionnaire-Short Form (MSQ-SF) score functioned as a protective factor against burnout across both rural and urban locales, highlighting the intrinsic link between job satisfaction and burnout. Other influencing factors differed between urban and rural areas, so interventions should be tailored to local conditions. Rural married PHWs experienced the lower prevalence of burnout indicates the support structure may play a significant role. Background: The interrelation between infections, subjective cognitive decline (SCD), and dementia development is recognized, but not fully understood. This study explored the combined effect of specific infections and SCD on the risk of dementia. Objectives: To assess the influence of Helicobacter pylori, herpes simplex virus, varicella-zoster virus, and human papillomavirus on dementia risk in individuals with varying cognitive statuses, especially focusing on those with and without SCD. Methods: A cohort of 1,100,540 participants aged 66 years from the Korean National Health Insurance Service was divided into cognitively preserved (CP, n = 825,405) and SCD (n = 275,135) groups. This study analyzed the effects of single, dual, and triple infections on the risk of overall dementia, Alzheimer's disease (AD), and vascular dementia (VaD) using incidence rates and hazard ratios. Results: The SCD group consistently showed a doubled risk of dementia, particularly AD, regardless of the number of infections. In the initial data, both the presence and number of infections, especially in the CP group, were associated with an increased dementia incidence and risk; however, this correlation disappeared after adjusting for covariates, hinting at a possible protective effect. Conclusion: Our findings emphasize that, while SCD is a steadfast risk factor for dementia, the role of infections is layered, subject to various influences, and requires more comprehensive exploration to fully understand their impact on dementia development. The increased funding provided for Community Health Worker (CHW) hiring and training as part of the COVID‐19 pandemic response was to increase their impact in alleviating the effects of negative social determinants of health in the lives of the most vulnerable individuals and communities. This enhanced use of CHW in vulnerable populations can also be used to improve access to such populations for applied research to study ways to improve health outcomes for low‐income minority populations. We carried out a feasibility study using the State CHW association as partners to reach CHWs working with low‐income minority population. Three hundred and three (303) clients of CHWs were interviewed on various demographic, health access, and employment information and both univariate and multivariate analyses was used to determine factors associated with being unvaccinated against COVID‐19 and chi‐squared used to determine if employment was associated with having health insurance. About half of the clients self‐identified as Black/African American and half as Hispanic. Two‐thirds were women and 52.1% were unemployed and 55.1% had no health insurance. There was no association between employment status and having health insurance. Majority (71.6%) had received one dose of a type of COVID‐19 vaccine and being younger and being African American were associated with not getting a dose of COVID‐19 vaccine, as well as being unemployed and not having health insurance. Most of the clients came to see the CHW about a Health/Healthcare issue of the five social determinants of health (SDOH). There were 38 different job titles provided by the clients and the job titles were mainly blue collar jobs and jobs in health and personal care. Our results indicate that CHWs reach the most vulnerable population who have limited health access and high unemployment and that CHWs can effectively be used for linkage to low‐income minority population for applied research. Our analyses found that in this low‐income population, being younger, being African American, being unemployed, and not having health insurance are each associated with not getting vaccinated against COVID‐19, and employment is not associated with having health insurance. We have shown that partnership with CHWs to access their clients as research subjects leads to elucidating new information on the population that can be used in addressing public health programming. Background: Poly-victimization (PV) not only threatens physical and mental health but also causes a range of social problems. Left-behind children in rural areas are more likely to experience PV problems. However, there have been fewer studies on PV among rural children, and even fewer intervention studies. Objective: The difference-in-differences method was employed to analyze the impact of intervention measures, based on the theory of planned behavior, on PV among left-behind children in rural areas. Methods: The study subjects were left-behind children from six middle schools in two cities in southern China, who completed the baseline survey from 2020 to 2021. They were divided into a control group and an intervention group, each consisting of 228 cases, based on their schools. Before and after the intervention, the Self-made victimization-related knowledge, attitude, and practice questionnaire, Poly-victimization scale, and Middle school students' coping style scale were used to evaluate the victimization-related KAP(knowledge, attitude, and practice), victimization occurrence, and coping styles of left-behind children, respectively. Stata 15.0 was used to establish a difference-in-differences regression model to analyze the impact of the intervention measures on poly-victimization and coping styles. Results: Mixed Anova revealed that after the intervention, the KAP scores of the intervention group were significantly higher than those of the control group (p < 0.05). After the intervention, the incidence of child victimization in the intervention group dropped to 9.60% (n = 22), lower than in the baseline survey, with a statistically significant difference (p < 0.01). The incidence of PV among children in the intervention group was lower than that in the control group, with the difference being statistically significant (p < 0.01). The net reduction in the incidence of PV among children was 21.20%. After the intervention, the protection rate for preventing PV among children was 73.33%, and the effect index was 3.75. The intervention improved children's coping styles, problem-solving, and help-seeking, while reducing negative coping styles such as avoidance and venting, with the differences being statistically significant (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Intervention measures based on the theory of planned behavior reduce the occurrence of PV among left-behind children, and the intervention effects on different types of victimization are also different. Background: Despite efforts to promote guideline use, guideline adoption is often suboptimal due to failure to identify and address relevant barriers. Barriers vary not only between guidelines but also between settings, intended users, and targeted patients. Multi-professional guidelines are often used in child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), making the implementation process more difficult. Despite this, there is a lack of knowledge about which barriers to consider or if barriers vary by profession. The aim of this study was to address these gaps by examining barriers to adopting a multi-professional depression guideline in the context of a nationwide implementation study. Methods: 440 CAMHS clinicians across Sweden (52%) completed the Barriers and Facilitators Assessment Instrument (BFAI) ahead of an implementation endeavour. BFAI is a widely used and validated measure of guideline implementation on four scales: Innovation, Provider, Context, and Patient. Barriers were calculated at scale and at item levels. ANOVA and chi-square tests were used to analyse differences by profession and effect sizes were calculated. Results: Overall, clinicians were optimistic about guideline uptake, particularly about guideline characteristics and their own adoption ability. Barriers were related to the patient and the context domains, as well as to individual clinician knowledge and training. Perceptions differed across professions; psychiatrists were most, and counsellors were least positive about guideline embeddedness. Conclusion: This large-scale quantitative study suggests that CAMHS clinicians have an overall favourable attitude towards guideline adoption but highlights the need for adaptations to certain patient groups. Strategies to improve guideline use should primarily address these patient issues while securing proper support to the implementation. Implementation efforts, particularly those targeting staff knowledge, training, and involvement, may benefit from being tailored to different professional needs. Background: A positive work environment can enhance nursing safety and patient satisfaction while alleviating nurse stress. Conversely, a poor work environment can harm nurses' physical and mental health and compromise the quality of care, particularly in the high-intensity and shift-based setting of the ICU. Objectives: Based on the Job demands-resources (JD-R) model, this study examined the effects of job demands and job resources in the work environment, as well as personal resources, on the night-shift alertness of ICU shift nurses. Methods: This cross-sectional correlational exploratory study, conducted from July to September 2022, recruited 291 ICU shift nurses from a hospital in Beijing, China. The Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ), the Self-resilience scale, the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), and the Psychomotor Vigilance Task (PVT) were used to subjectively and objectively measure the job demands, job resources, personal resources, and night-shift alertness. SPSS 26.0 and Mplus 8.3 were used to analyze the data and construct the structural equation model. Results: The night-shift reaction time was 251.0 ms (Median), indicating a relatively high level of alertness. Job demands were negatively correlated with both job resources (r=-0.570, P < 0.001) and personal resources (r=-0.462, P < 0.001), while a positive correlation existed between job resources and personal resources (r = 0.554, P < 0.001). The results show that increased job demands can lead to higher levels of nurse strain (β = 0.955, P < 0.001), whereas job resources were found that it can decrease strain (β=-0.477, P = 0.047). Adequate job resources can enhance motivation directly (β = 0.874, P < 0.001), subsequently reducing reaction time (β=-0.148, P = 0.044) and improving night-shift alertness among ICU shift nurses. Conclusion: Enhancing ICU shift nurses' work motivation through bolstering job resources can boost night-shift alertness. However, it is noteworthy that, in this study, neither strain nor individual resources significantly influenced nurses' night-shift alertness. This may be attributed to the complexity of the ICU environment and individual differences. Future research should explore the relationship between these factors and nurses' work alertness. Background: The overlapping clinical manifestations in parkinsonian variant of multiple system atrophy (MSA-P) and Parkinson's Disease (PD) can complicate clinical diagnostic accuracy, particularly in the early stage. The study aims to uncover the patterns of brain function in the initial phase of the two conditions. Methods: We recruited 24 MSA-P patients, 34 PD patients and 27 healthy controls (HC). Voxel-wise fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (fALFF) was compared to characterize regional brain function, followed by seedbased functional connectivity (FC) analysis. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses were used to examine the diagnostic accuracy of fALFF. Results: Compared to HC, decreased fALFF was observed in the bilateral basal ganglia (BG) of MSA-P patients, while decreased fALFF was identified in the left BG of PD patients. Additionally, elevated fALFF was found in the superior cerebellum for MSA-P patients and the temporo-occipital cortex for PD patients. Furthermore, PD patients exhibited increased FC in the cortico-striatal loop compared to MSA-P patients. The fALFF of the left caudate distinguished MSA-P from HC with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.838 (p < 0.001) and from PD with an AUC of 0.772 (p < 0.001). The fALFF of the left putamen distinguished PD from HC with an AUC of 0.736 (p = 0.002). Conclusion: Our findings indicated common and distinct abnormalities in spontaneous brain activity within BG, cerebellum, and cortices in early-stage MSA-P and PD patients. Background: Stable mild cognitive impairment (sMCI) and progressive mild cognitive impairment (pMCI) represent two distinct subtypes of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Early and effective diagnosis and accurate differentiation between sMCI and pMCI are crucial for administering targeted early intervention and preventing cognitive decline. This study investigated the intrinsic dysconnectivity patterns in sMCI and pMCI based on degree centrality (DC) and effective connectivity (EC) analyses, with the goal of uncovering shared and distinct neuroimaging mechanisms between subtypes. Methods: Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging combined with DC analysis was used to explore the functional connectivity density in 42 patients with sMCI, 31 patients with pMCI, and 82 healthy control (HC) participants. Granger causality analysis was used to assess changes in EC based on the significant clusters found in DC. Furthermore, correlation analysis was conducted to examine the associations between altered DC/EC values and cognitive function. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was performed to determine the accuracy of abnormal DC and EC values in distinguishing sMCI from pMCI. Results: Compared with the HC group, both pMCI and sMCI groups exhibited increased DC in the left inferior temporal gyrus (ITG), left posterior cerebellum lobe (CPL), and right cerebellum anterior lobe (CAL), along with decreased DC in the left medial frontal gyrus. Moreover, the sMCI group displayed reduced EC from the right CAL to bilateral CPL, left superior temporal gyrus, and bilateral caudate compared with HC. pMCI demonstrated elevated EC from the right CAL to left ITG, which was linked to episodic memory and executive function. Notably, the EC from the right CAL to the right ITG effectively distinguished sMCI from pMCI, with sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of 0.5806, 0.9512, and 0.828, respectively. Conclusion: This study uncovered shared and distinct alterations in DC and EC between sMCI and pMCI, highlighting their involvement in cognitive function. Of particular significance are the unidirectional EC disruptions from the cerebellum to the temporal lobe, which serve as a discriminating factor between sMCI and pMCI and provide a new perspective for understanding the temporal-cerebellum. Objective: To investigate the current situation of innovative behavior and organizational structure authorization of ophthalmic specialty nurses in China, and analyze the influencing factors of innovative behavior. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was carried out among 301 ophthalmic specialty nurses in China, representing Representing 82 hospitals in 25 provinces, using a general data questionnaire, Innovative Behavior Scale(IBS), and conditions of work effectiveness questionnaire(CWEQ-II). Results: The mean total score for innovative behavior among Chinese ophthalmic specialty nurses was (4.73 ± 1.14), and the mean total score for organizational structure authorization was (61.65 ± 14.69). The logistic regression analysis revealed that organizational structure authorization, hospital grade, and ophthalmic specialty nurses primarily engaged in clinical care and clinical research had statistically significant impacts on the level of innovative behavior (P < 0.05). The higher the organizational structure authorization score, the higher the innovative behavior level of ophthalmic specialty nurses, the level of innovation behavior of grade-B tertiary hospitals is higher than that of grade-A tertiary hospitals. The main positions are low level of innovative behavior in clinical care and high level of innovative behavior in clinical research. Conclusions: The innovative behavior and organizational structure authorization of Chinese ophthalmic specialty nurses are at a medium level, the innovative behavior of ophthalmic specialty nurses is influenced by factors such as organizational structure empowerment level, hospital grade, and main job position. Nursing managers are advised to develop tailored training programs based on the influencing factors of innovative behavior among Chinese ophthalmic specialty nurses, in order to enhance their level of innovation and improve the quality of nursing services provided by Chinese ophthalmic specialty nurses. Background: Narrative nursing is a novel approach according with humanistic care, which has been shown to be effective in improving health outcomes for both patients and nurses. Nevertheless, few studies have investigated the status of narrative nursing practice among nurses, and a comprehensive understanding of factors influencing this practice remains elusive. Design: This was an observational, cross-sectional study using convenience sampling method. Methods: After obtaining the informed consent, a total of 931 registered nurses from three hospitals in China were investigated. Data were collected using the Social Support Rating Scale, the General Self-efficacy Scale, and the Knowledge-Attitude-Practice Survey of Clinical Nurses on Narrative Nursing. All the scales were validated in the Chinese population. The questionnaire results were verified by an independent investigator. Factors influencing narrative nursing practice were determined through a series of analyses, including independent sample t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlations. Subsequently, path analysis was performed and a structural equation model was established. Results: The score of narrative nursing practice in this study was 30.26 ± 5.32. The structural equation model showed a good fit, with a Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) of 0.007 (90%CI: 0.000, 0.047). Both social support and narrative nursing attitude could directly affect narrative nursing practice (βsocial support = 0.08, P < 0.001; βattitude = 0.54, P < 0.001) and indirectly influence it via self-efficacy (βsocial support = 0.04, P < 0.001; βattitude = 0.06, P < 0.001). In addition, narrative nursing knowledge (β = 0.08, P < 0.001) and the nurses' growth environment (β=-0.06, P < 0.001) also affected the practice of narrative nursing. Conclusion: Narrative nursing in China is at a medium level and could be influenced by several personal and environmental factors. Objectives: Financial strain has important consequences for patients, providers, and health care systems. However, there is currently no gold standard measure to screen for financial strain. This study compared the performance of 3 single-item screeners using a composite measure of financial strain as a "gold standard." Methods: We conducted a secondary analysis of unweighted data from a 2021 survey of Kaiser Permanente Northern California health plan members comparing the percentages of adults who experienced financial strain based on 3 general single-item screeners, a screener specific to medical and dental health care use, and a composite financial strain measure. The study sample was comprised of 2734 non-Medicaid insured adults who answered all financial strain questions. Kappa statistics evaluating agreement of the 3 general screeners with the composite measure were calculated for the sample overall, by age group, and within age group, by 4 levels of income and 4 racial/ethnic subgroups. Results: Among 947 adults aged 35 to 65, 30.7% had just enough money or not enough money to make ends meet, 23.3% had a somewhat hard or hard time paying for basics, 18.8% had trouble paying for ≥1 type of expense, 20.5% had delayed/used less medical/dental care, and 41.5% had experienced financial strain based on the composite measure. Among 1787 adults aged 66 to 85, the percentages who screened positive on these measures were 22.7%, 19.4%, 12.9%, 19.8%, and 34.4%, respectively. Across the sample, by income categories and racial/ethnic groups, the making ends meet screener identified higher percentages of adults experiencing financial strain and performed better when compared with the composite measure than the hard to pay for the very basics and trouble paying for expenses screeners. Overall, substantial decreases in the percentages of adults who screened positive on the financial strain measures were seen as level of income increased. Within income categories, middle-aged adults were more likely than older adults to have experienced financial strain based on the composite and general single-item screeners. Conclusions: As social risk screening becomes part of the standard of care, it will be important to assess how well different brief screeners for financial strain perform with diverse patient populations. Background: Child maltreatment (CM) can have devastating and potentially lifelong effects for those affected and is a major contributor to mental health problems. To tackle public health problems it is crucial to have reliable data on CM. The aim of this study is to assess the prevalence and predictors of CM in a nationwide sample of the German population of young adults. Methods: The study population (young adults aged 18 to 31 years) stems from the KiGGS Cohort study, the longitudinal branch of the German Health Interview and Examination Survey for children and adolescents. This sample meets the criteria of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicator 16.2.3. The data was collected between 2014 and 2017. CM were assessed with the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) in. In addition, socio-demographic variables and other known risk factors for CM were assessed. A total of 6433 (47.8% female) participants were included in the analyses. Binary logistic regression analyses were used to investigate predictors of maltreatment subtypes. Ordinal regression was used to examine their association with experience of multiple forms of CM. Results: Overall, 18.4% (f: 20.9%, m: 16.1%) of the participants reported having experienced at least one type of CM; 6.7% (f: 8.8%, m: 4.8%) reported experiences of emotional abuse, 3.7% (f: 3.9%, m: 3.5%) physical abuse, 3.5% (f: 5.3%, m: 1.7%) sexual abuse, 9.0% (f: 9.9%, m: 8.2%) emotional neglect and 8.6% (f: 8.5%, m: 8.7%) physical neglect. Gender, subjective social status, education and household dysfunction (e.g. living with an individual who is using substances) emerged as significant predictors for different types of CM. Additionally, all these factors were significant risk factors for experiencing cumulative CM. Conclusions: CM is common in the German population, with almost one in five people experiencing at least one type of CM. The results reveal important risk factors for the occurrence of CM. In particular, people with lower social status and those who grew up in dysfunctional households are at higher risk of CM. Background: Breast cancer is one of the most common diseases globally that may have side effects on liver and renal function. Pharmacological treatments to reduce adverse liver and renal effects are still limited. It has been proposed that silymarin may possess hepatoprotective and anti-inflammatory properties. The present trial aims to assess the hepatorenal protective efficacy of silymarin supplementation in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy in an outpatient setting. Method: This is a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial that recruited female breast cancer patients. Participants were randomly assigned to one placebo group and two intervention groups. The control group received 140 mg of placebo daily, while the two intervention groups received 140 mg silymarin daily. Follow-up assessments were conducted at baseline, 3 weeks, and 6 weeks. At the beginning of the study, the patients were subjected to a computed tomography (CT) scan, and the liver and renal parameters such as alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), bilirubin, Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and Creatinine (Cr) were examined through laboratory tests. Results: Despite two deaths and three dropouts, 100 patients completed the study. Silymarin showed significant effects on liver enzymes in the levels of ALP and bilirubin (P < 0.05), with no significant impact on renal function in the levels of Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and Creatinine (Cr) (P > 0.05). The medication was well-tolerated, with minimal reported side effects (P > 0.05). Discussion: The study suggests that silymarin may have hepato-renal protective potential in breast cancer patients and improve patient tolerance to chemotherapy. The data presented on the efficacy and safety of silymarin may provide stronger foundation for further trials and for a possible use in clinical practice. Purpose: Susceptibility map weighted imaging (SMWI), based on quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM), allows accurate nigrosome-1 (N1) evaluation and has been used to develop Parkinson’s disease (PD) deep learning (DL) classification algorithms. Neuromelanin-sensitive (NMS) MRI could improve automated quantitative N1 analysis by revealing neuromelanin content. This study aimed to compare classification performance of four approaches to PD diagnosis: (1) N1 quantitative “QSM-NMS” composite marker, (2) DL model for N1 morphological abnormality using SMWI (“Heuron IPD”), (3) DL model for N1 volume using SMWI (“Heuron NI”), and (4) N1 SMWI neuroradiological evaluation. Method: PD patients (n = 82; aged 65 ± 9 years; 68% male) and healthy-controls (n = 107; 66 ± 7 years; 48% male) underwent 3 T midbrain MRI with T2*-SWI multi-echo-GRE (for QSM and SMWI), and NMS-MRI. AUC was used to compare diagnostic performance. We tested for correlation of each imaging measure with clinical parameters (severity, duration and levodopa dosing) by Spearman-Rho or Kendall-Tao-Beta correlation. Results: Classification performance was excellent for the QSM-NMS composite marker (AUC = 0.94), N1 SMWI abnormality (AUC = 0.92), N1 SMWI volume (AUC = 0.90), and neuroradiologist (AUC = 0.98). Reasons for misclassification were right–left asymmetry, through-plane re-slicing, pulsation artefacts, and thin N1. In the two DL models, all 18/189 (9.5%) cases misclassified by Heuron IPD were controls with normal N1 volumes. We found significant correlation of the SN QSM-NMS composite measure with levodopa dosing (rho = −0.303, p = 0.006). Conclusion: Our data demonstrate excellent performance of a quantitative QSM-NMS marker and automated DL PD classification algorithms based on midbrain MRI, while suggesting potential further improvements. Simple Summary: This pilot study aims to identify the physical, mental, social, psychological, and health needs encountered by cancer survivors in order to propose and facilitate appropriate and tailored responses. To the best of our knowledge, this is one of the first multidimensional studies investigating this topic in Italy. Data show that the quality of life of cancer survivors is affected by cancer and its treatment, reporting more frailties than the general population, especially those over 65 years old. These findings could help develop multidisciplinary planning of survivorship care for the transition of patients from oncological management to primary healthcare. In Italy, dedicated studies are lacking, so we aimed to investigate the physical, mental, social, and health difficulties encountered by these patients. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study on breast or colorectal cancer survivors (people 5+ years free from it and its treatments) using an ad hoc survey including validated questionnaires (Grauer–Palombi, SF-36, PREDIMED). Participants were recruited within the Oncology Unit of the "Policlinico Tor Vergata", Italy. Results: A total of 62 patients (80.6% females; years range: 37–87) agreed to be interviewed. A profile of cancer survivors was drafted: an overaged person with multiple co-morbidities, not well-nourished, adhering to the Mediterranean diet, reporting critical conditions as for physical and functional status. The mean number of co-morbidities was 3.6 ± 2.4 SD, with a statistically significant difference between age groups (under and over 65). Compared to the general population, the sample showed more frailties, especially when >65. The risk of having multimorbidity (four or more co-morbidities) significantly increased in those over 65 (OR: 4.72; CI: 1.43–15.59). Conclusion: There is an urgent need for survivorship care planning for the patient-centered continuum of care. Introduction: It has been suggested that inhibin B (InhB), Anti-Müllerian hormone (Müllerian-inhibiting substance, AMH) levels, and 2D/4D finger length ratios are related to sex differences in neurodevelopmental disorders. The aim of this study is to investigate the role of InhB, AMH levels, and 2D/4D finger length ratios in male children with specific learning disorder (SLD). Methods: The study included 38 male children diagnosed with SLD and 38 males of similar ages without SLD as the control group. Tests used in the evaluation were the Kiddie Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School-Age Children-Present and Lifetime version, Specific learning disorder clinical observation battery, Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R), and Conners' Parent Rating Scale-Revised: Short Form. Serum AMH, InhB, and Testosterone levels were measured using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: Male children diagnosed with SLD demonstrated significantly higher levels of serum InhB compared to controls (t= 2.59 p=0.009); both groups had similar levels of serum testosterone and AMH. The 2D/4D finger ratios in the SLD group were found to be lower than those in the control group (t= 2.92 p= 0.005). Serum InhB levels were positively correlated with WISC-R verbal scores (p= 0.003). Conclusion: Our findings suggest that serum InhB levels and the 2D/4D ratio, which is an indicator of prenatal testosterone exposure, may play a role in the male predominance of SLD. Background: Considering that few studies have investigated the differences in clinical, laboratory, and imaging symptoms of patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during different peaks of the disease in Iran, the present study compares the patients who were admitted to the COVID-19 departments of Imam Reza Hospital during the first, second, and third peaks of the disease. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, data were collected by reviewing the files of patients with a definite diagnosis of COVID- 19 based on the RT-PCR test in Imam Reza Hospital in Mashhad. The patients were divided into three groups based on the time of admission: The first peak from March 2020 to June 2020, the second peak from July to September 2020, and the third peak from October to December 2020. The variables evaluated in this study included demographic information, clinical signs and symptoms, and laboratory and radiological findings. Descriptive qualitative data were reported using frequency tables, while quantitative descriptive data were reported using measures of central tendency and dispersion. A comparison of qualitative data among the three peaks was conducted using the chi-square test, while for quantitative data, the ANOVA test was used followed by appropriate post-hoc tests. Results: A total of 561 patients with an average age of 58.90 ± 16.80 years were included in the study, of which 336 (59.9%) were male. Regarding underlying diseases, significant differences were found in age (P < 0.001), smoking (P < 0.001), diabetes (P = 0.003), high blood pressure (P < 0.001), asthma (P = 0.025), and ischemic heart disease (P < 0.001). For vital signs, significant differences were observed in heart rate (P < 0.001), respiration rate (P < 0.001), diastolic blood pressure (P = 0.010), and SPO2 (P < 0.001). In clinical characteristics, significant differences were found in fever (P < 0.001), nausea (P = 0.011), vomiting (P = 0.031), headache (P < 0.001), weakness (P < 0.001), and sore throat (P < 0.001). In laboratory characteristics, significant differences were observed in white blood cell (WBC) count (P = 0.024), neutrophil percentage (P < 0.001), lymphocyte percentage (P < 0.001), and C-reactive protein (CRP) (P = 0.001). The CT score values of the patients were significantly different between the three peaks. Patient mortality was significantly different across the three peaks. Less than 15% of hospitalized patients died in the first peak, while over 24% died in the second peak and nearly 40% of inpatients died in the third peak. In our study, the first and third surges and the second and third surges had different mortalities. Conclusions: The third and first peaks had the highest and lowest mortality rates, respectively. Underlying diseases and unstable vital signs were more common in the second and third peaks. Patients in the second peak had significantly higher CT scores compared to the other peaks. Climate change threatens environmental stability and human health, with limited research on younger children's perceptions. This study examines Italian primary school children's views on climate change to guide educational and policy strategies. Surveying 973 children (5–11 years) from different regions, findings showed high awareness (93%) and concern (63%) about climate change. Regional differences indicated greater concern in the south. Gender disparities revealed females were more concerned and experienced more sleep difficulties. Younger children had stronger emotional responses, while older ones showed increased pro-environmental behaviors. Despite moderate self-confidence in effecting change, a strong sense of responsibility and trust in adults was prevalent. These results highlight the need for early, continuous climate education tailored to regional, age, and gender-specific needs. Addressing children's views on climate change can help educators and policymakers foster resilience and proactive attitudes, supporting the development of informed and engaged future stewards of the planet. Background: Food impaction can contribute to a variety of oral health problems. However, the prevalence of food impaction in the population and patient awareness of these issues are poorly reported on. Methods: A questionnaire about food impaction was designed and uploaded to an online platform (Sojump) which was then circulated among the study participants using various social media platforms. Participants were asked to anonymously respond to the questionnaire regarding the prevalence of food impaction, its influence on their quality of life, their consultation rates and their oral cleaning methods. The survey was conducted through an online survey portal. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS and GraphPad. The Chi-Square test, Bonferroni test and the Kruskal–Wallis H test were used to measure categorical variables from the survey. Results: The results showed that the prevalence of food impaction in non-dental professional participants was 86.9%. Among these patients, 12,157 pairs/cases of proximal contacts were affected. The number of food impaction cases in posterior teeth was significantly higher than in anterior teeth. Approximately 81.9% of patients believed that food impaction could affect their lives. However, the consultation rate for these patients was only 17.7%. Conclusions: This study revealed that food impaction continued to have a high rate of incidence and a low rate of consultation, potentially due to a lack of awareness regarding its influence on oral health. Informal caregivers of older people face demanding responsibilities that can negatively affect their wellbeing, highlighting the relevance of interventions that address their specific needs. This study aimed to assess the effects of a group music therapy program based on different songwriting approaches applied to informal caregivers of older adults with dependency. A sample of 113 caregivers participated, being assigned either to the intervention (n = 60) or the control group (n = 53). The intervention group caregivers received 10 weekly sessions of the songwriting program, while the control group continued with their usual care service. Psychological symptoms and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) were assessed at baseline and follow-up using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, Beck Depression Inventory-II, Zarit Burden Interview, and SF-36. Group × Time interactions revealed significant improvements in the intervention group compared to the control one in trait anxiety (p = 0.022), social functioning (p = 0.013), role limitations due to physical problems (p = 0.020), and physical component summary (p = 0.022). These findings provided valuable evidence on this novel intervention, showing positive effects for caregivers' wellbeing. Introduction: Chronic graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is associated with poor health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and functional status. However, few studies have evaluated chronic GVHD–related disability and specific activity limitations from a patient perspective. The objective of this analysis was to assess physical, cognitive, and work disability, and describe factors predictive of disability in patients with chronic GVHD in the potentially employable general workforce. Methods: The cross-sectional, online, Living With Chronic GVHD Patient Survey was administered in 2020 to adult US patients who reported an active chronic GVHD diagnosis (i.e., within the previous 5 years) following HSCT. Data included demographics, diagnosis, work status, chronic GVHD symptoms per the Lee Symptom Scale (LSS), and effects on daily living activities. Descriptive and correlational analyses informed composite disability definitions: (1) severe cognitive disability, (2) severe physical disability, and (3) work disability. Results: Of 137 respondents with GVHD included in this analysis, 47.0% reported severe cognitive disability, and approximately two-thirds each reported severe physical disability (67.4%) and work disability (62.8%). Chronic GVHD severity/duration, symptoms (Lee Symptom Scale), and number of transplant specialists consulted were associated with all types of disability (univariable analyses). Severe cognitive disability was associated with the number of transplant specialists consulted, severe physical disability with female sex, and work disability with nonwhite race. Conclusions: In this analysis, we found that the presence of specific symptoms and the number of transplant specialists consulted were associated with all types of severe disability; female sex was predictive of severe physical disability and nonwhite race of work disability. These findings add to the understanding of chronic GVHD-associated disability, suggest a need for improved social support for patients, and highlight potential indicators for those most in need. Symptoms of chronic GVHD can be severe and can affect quality of life. To better understand exactly how chronic GVHD affects quality of life, we asked adults in the USA with chronic GVHD to fill out a survey. The objective of this research was to find out how chronic GVHD affects daily activities and work. The survey asked about physical activities including personal hygiene, eating, shopping, and ability to use the restroom, and the survey asked about mental tasks including managing personal finances and interactions with other people. The survey also asked questions about work, such as the need to take disability leave or to leave a job due to chronic GVHD. Many people with chronic GVHD who completed the survey said they had severe difficulty with mental and/or physical tasks, and many had work-related disability. People with more severe chronic GVHD who had met with many transplant specialists were more likely to have difficulty with mental and physical tasks and also to have work disability. Women who completed the survey were more likely to report severe physical disability than men, and nonwhite participants were more likely to report work disability. Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) poses one of the most serious workplace health risks facing healthcare workers, especially nurses, due to occupational exposure. The HBV vaccination coverage among healthcare workers in Ethiopia ranged from 5.4 to 21.9%. However, little is known about HBV vaccination coverage and associated factors among nurses in Ethiopia. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess HBV vaccination coverage and associated factors among nurses working in health centers in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 2023. Methods: An institutional-based cross-sectional study was conducted from March 2 to March 31, 2023, among 428 nurses working in 32 health centers in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Data were entered into Epi-Info version 7.2.5.0 and then exported to SPSS version 27 for analysis. Descriptive statistics (frequencies and proportions) were used to summarize the data on the study variables. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were conducted to determine the strength of the association, and the statistical significance of associations between the variables was determined using adjusted odds ratio with a 95% CI and p values < 0.05. Results: HBV-full vaccination coverage among 428 nurses in health centers in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, was 36.9%. Male nurses [AOR = 1.78, 95% CI: 1.08, 2.95], taking training on infection prevention [AOR = 1.73, 95% CI: 1.08, 2.78], having good knowledge about HBV vaccine [AOR = 1.98, 95% CI: 1.28, 3.04], and testing for HBV [AOR = 1.98, 95% CI: 1.08, 3.64] were more likely to have HBV full vaccination coverage, whereas monthly salary ≤ 7,071 Ethiopian Birr was 54% less likely to have HBV full vaccination coverage [AOR = 0.46, 95% CI: 0.25, 0.85] at p-value < 0.05. Conclusion: This study revealed that the full HBV vaccination coverage of nurses working in health centers in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, was low (36.9%), and consequently, the majority of nurses are at a high risk of being infected with HBV. Therefore, the Ministry of Health and health centers should promote awareness, implement prevention programs, provide diagnostic, treatment, and care services, enhance information generation and utilization, and strengthen the health system to increase vaccination coverage among nurses. Background: Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) studies have indicated that the imbalance between gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and glutamate/glutamine (Glx) levels was the potential cause of migraine development. However, the changes in the GABA and Glx levels in patients with New daily persistent headache (NDPH) remain unclear. This study aimed to investigate the changes in GABA and Glx levels in the periaqueductal gray (PAG) and dentate nucleus (DN) in patients with NDPH using the MEGA-PRESS sequence. Methods: Twenty-one NDPH patients and 22 age- and sex-matched healthy controls (HCs) were included and underwent a 3.0T MRI examination, using the MEGA-PRESS sequence to analyze GABA and Glx levels of PAG and DN. The correlations between these neurotransmitter levels and clinical characteristics were also analyzed. Results: There were no significant differences in the GABA+/Water, GABA+/Cr, Glx/Water, and Glx/Cr levels in both PAG and DN between the two groups (all p > 0.05). Moderate-severe NDPH patients had lower levels of Glx/Water (p = 0.034) and Glx/Cr (p = 0.012) in DN than minimal-mild NDPH patients. In patients with NDPH, higher Glx/Water levels in the PAG (r=-0.471, p = 0.031, n = 21) and DN (r=-0.501, p = 0.021, n = 21) and higher Glx/Cr levels in DN (r=-0.483, p = 0.026, n = 21) were found to be correlated with lower Visual Analogue Scale scores. Additionally, a positive correlation was observed between the GABA+/Cr levels in the DN and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 scores (r = 0.519, p = 0.039, n = 16). Conclusions: The results of this study indicated that the GABA and Glx levels in the PAG and DN may not be the primary contributor to the development of NDPH. Background: Obesity and sarcopenia are both viewed as pathological body composition issues and indicators of compromised nutritional status. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of sarcopenic obesity on short- and long-term clinical outcomes. Methods: The clinical data of patients who underwent radical gastrectomy between 2013 and 2019 were prospectively collected. Sarcopenia is defined by European Working Group on Sarcopenia in Older People (EWGSOP2) and obesity is defined by the body mass index (BMI). To identify the independent predictors of postoperative complications and overall survival, we performed univariate and multivariate logistic and Cox regression analyses. Results: In a total of 508 cases, 372 (73.2%) cases were diagnosed with non-sarcopenia, 112 (22.0%) with non-obese sarcopenia, and 24 (4.7%) with sarcopenic obesity. In the multivariate logistic regression, both of non-obese sarcopenia (OR = 2.305, 95% CI = 1.444–3.679, P < 0.001) and sarcopenic obesity (OR = 2.589, 95% CI = 1.088–6.156, P = 0.031) were independent risk factors for postoperative complications. In the multivariate Cox analysis, only non-obese sarcopenia (HR = 2.614, 95% CI = 1.882–3.631, P < 0.001) was independent risk factor for overall survival. Background: This study compared the concentrations of interleukin (IL)-6, IL-17, and IL-35 in the gingival crevicular fluid of periodontally healthy participants with individuals who had stage III and IV periodontitis. Methods: In total, 60 participants with stage III grade B-C (n = 12)—stage IV grade C (n = 18) periodontitis and 30 healthy controls were included in this cross-sectional study. Full-mouth clinical periodontal measurements were performed. Concentrations of IL-6, IL-17, and IL-35 were determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. Parametric/nonparametric methods, Pearson's/Spearman's correlation, and logistic regression methods were used for data analyses. Results: The periodontitis group exhibited significantly higher levels of IL-6, IL-17, and IL-35 compared with the healthy group (p < 0.001). IL-17 levels had a positive correlation with pocket depth (PD) (r = 0.395; p = 0.031) in the periodontitis group. IL-6, IL-17, and IL-35 levels were associated with periodontitis (odds ratio [OR] = 1.344, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.159–1.56; OR = 1.063, 95% CI = 1.025–1.102; OR = 1.261, 95% CI = 1.110–1.434, respectively) (p < 0.001, p = 0.001, p < 0.001, respectively). Full-mouth and sampling sites PD and clinical attachment loss (CAL) values were significantly higher in the periodontitis group than in the healthy group (p < 0.001). Conclusions: This study revealed upregulated levels of IL-6, IL-17, and IL-35 in periodontitis patients compared to healthy individuals. IL-17 shows a correlation with increased PD. These findings suggest a potential association between these cytokines and severe and advanced periodontitis. This study aimed to identify differences among body mass index (BMI) categories of older family caregivers (=60 years) and their care recipients (=65 years). Secondly, this study aimed to examine group differences and factors associated with weight change during a nutrition and oral health intervention. This secondary analysis of a randomized controlled trial (ClinicalTrial.gov (NCT04003493)) involved individually tailored nutritional guidance from a clinical nutritionist and oral health guidance from a dental hygienist. Baseline BMI differences were analyzed, followed by further analyses of group differences and associated factors of weight change over a 6-month period using generalized estimating equations. Among the participants (113 family caregivers and 107 care recipients), 36.3% and 35.1% were overweight (BMI >29 kg/m²), while 18.6% and 21.6% were underweight (BMI <24 kg/m²) at baseline, respectively. For family caregivers differences in BMI categories included age, mid-arm and calf circumferences, and plasma prealbumin concentration. For care recipients differences were observed in medication use, mid-arm and calf circumferences, Mini Nutritional Assessment scores, physical function, and number of teeth. During the 6-month intervention, there were no differences in weight change between intervention and control groups for both caregivers and care recipients. Factors significantly associated (p < 0.05) with weight loss included female sex for both caregivers and care recipients, and frailty for caregivers. Family caregivers' characteristics were not significantly associated with weight change in their care recipients. In conclusion, being overweight is a prevalent among older family caregivers and care recipients. Factors such as age, medication use, physical function, number of teeth, and Mini Nutritional Assessment scores varied across BMI categories. Female sex was associated with weight loss in both older family caregivers and care recipients, and frailty was associated with weight loss in caregivers. Background: Evidence from animal and human studies suggests glutamatergic dysfunction in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The purpose of this study was to investigate glutamate abnormalities in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLFPC) of individuals with PTSD using 7T MRS, which has better spectral resolution and signal-to-noise ratio than lower field strengths, thus allowing for better spectral quality and higher sensitivity. We hypothesized that individuals with PTSD would have lower glutamate levels compared to trauma-exposed individuals without PTSD and individuals without trauma exposure. Additionally, we explored potential alterations in other neurometabolites and the relationship between glutamate and psychiatric symptoms. Methods: Individuals with PTSD (n = 27), trauma-exposed individuals without PTSD (n = 27), and individuals without trauma exposure (n = 26) underwent 7T MRS to measure glutamate and other neurometabolites in the left DLPFC. The severities of PTSD, depression, anxiety, and dissociation symptoms were assessed. Results: We found that glutamate was lower in the PTSD and trauma-exposed groups compared to the group without trauma exposure. Furthermore, N -acetylaspartate (NAA) was lower and lactate was higher in the PTSD group compared to the group without trauma exposure. Glutamate was negatively correlated with depression symptom severity in the PTSD group. Glutamate was not correlated with PTSD symptom severity. Conclusion: In this first 7T MRS study of PTSD, we observed altered concentrations of glutamate, NAA, and lactate. Our findings provide evidence for multiple possible pathological processes in individuals with PTSD. High-field MRS offers insight into the neurometabolic alterations associated with PTSD and is a powerful tool to probe trauma- and stress-related neurotransmission and metabolism in vivo. Background: Obstetric ultrasound is considered important for determining gestational age, identifying single or multiple pregnancies, locating the placenta and fetal anomalies and monitoring fetal growth and pregnancy-related complications in order to improve patient management. Objectives: To explore health professionals' perspectives on different aspects of obstetric ultrasound in Tanzania regarding self-reported skills in performing ultrasound examinations and what could improve access to and utilization of obstetric ultrasound in the clinical setting. Design: Cross-sectional study. Material and Methods: Data was collected between November and December 2017 using a questionnaire based on previous qualitative research results from the CROss Country UltraSound Study (CROCUS Study). Seventeen healthcare facilities in 5 urban and semiurban municipalities in the Dar-es-Salaam region were included, with 636 health professionals participating (physicians, n = 307 and midwives/nurses, n = 329). Results: Most health professionals (82% physicians, 81% midwives/nurses) believed that obstetric ultrasound was decisive in the clinical management of pregnancy. Results indicate proficiency gaps across disciplines: 51% of physicians and 48.8% of midwives/nurses reported no or low-level skills in assessing cervical length. Similarly, deficiencies were observed in evaluating the four-chamber view of the fetal heart (physicians: 51%, midwives/nurses: 61%), aorta, pulmonary artery (physicians: 60.5%, midwives/nurses: 65%) and Doppler assessments (umbilical artery: physicians 60.6%, midwives/nurses 56.1%). Compared to midwives/nurses, physicians were significantly more likely to agree or strongly agree that utilization would improve with more ultrasound machines (odds ratio (OR) 2.13; 95% confidence intervals (CI) 1.26–3.61), better quality of ultrasound machines (OR 2.27; 95% CI 1.10–4.69), more training for health professionals currently performing ultrasound (OR 2.11; 95% CI 1.08–4.17) and more physicians trained in ultrasound (OR 2.51; 95% CI 1.30–4.87). Conclusions: Improving the provision of obstetric ultrasound examinations in Tanzania requires more and better-quality ultrasound machines, enhanced training for health professionals and an increased number of physicians trained in ultrasound use. Background: Effective information transfer during nursing shift handover is a crucial component of safe care in the emergency department (ED). Examining nursing handover models shows that they are frequently associated with errors. Disadvantages of the SBAR handover model include uncertainty of nursing staff regarding transfer of responsibility and non-confidentiality of patient information. To increase reliability of handover, written forms and templates can be used in addition to oral handover by the bedside. Aims: The purpose of this study is to compare the 'Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation (SBAR) method and modified handover model on the handover quality and nurse perception of shift handover in the ED. Methods: This research was designed as a semi-experimental study, with census survey method used for sampling. In order to collect data, Nurse Perception of Hanover Questionnaire (NPHQ) and Handover Quality Rating Tool (HQRT) were used after translating and confirming validity and reliability used to direct/collect data. A total of 31 nurses working in the ED received training on the modified shift handover model in a one-hour theory session and three hands-on bedside training sessions. This model was implemented by the nurses for one month. Data was analyzed with SPSS (version 26) using paired t-tests and analysis of covariance. Results: Results indicated significant difference between the modified handover model and SBAR in components of information transfer (P < 0.001), shared understanding (P < 0.001), working atmosphere (P = 0.004), handover quality (P < 0.001), and nurse perception of handover (P < 0.001). The univariate covariance test did not show demographic variables to be significantly correlated with handover perception or handover quality in SBAR and modified methods (P > 0.05). Conclusions: The results of this study can be presented to nursing managers as a guide in improving the quality of nursing care via implementing and applying the modified handover model in the nursing handover. The resistance of nurses against executing a new handover method was one of the limitations of the research, which was resolved by explanation of the plan and goals, as well as the cooperation of the hospital matron, and the ward supervisor. Background: A long-term assessment of stroke outcomes from the perspectives of patients and their caregivers is important for optimising long-term post-stroke care. The extended effects of stroke caregiving, particularly caregiver burden beyond 5 years since stroke, remain to be determined. Hence, this study aimed to determine caregiver burden at 10 years after stroke, compare the burden severity at 10 years with its levels at 5 years and 6 months after stroke, and identify predictors of the burden severity at 10 years post-stroke. Methods: A longitudinal follow-up study including a group of first-ever stroke patients/informal continuous caregivers pairs was followed for 10 years and interviewed face-to face at their home setting. Caregiver burden was evaluated with the Caregiver Burden Scale. Potential predictors were examined using standardised measures and identified by applying the Classification and Regression Tree. Results: A total of 40 caregiver/patient pairs participated in the study. At 10 years, 47.5% of the caregivers experienced a considerable burden. This was more than after 5 years (17.5%) and comparable to that after 6 months (37.5%), p < 0.003. Longer time spent caregiving, caregivers' weaker sense of coherence, more severe stroke, and caregivers' anxiety were the independent predictors of considerable burden 10 years after stroke. Conclusions: Caregivers' burden in the late chronic post-stroke phase is a significant problem, as nearly half of the caregivers experience a substantial burden. This problem mainly concerns individuals who spend at least 7 h daily caregiving and have a lower Sense of Coherence. The long-term evaluation of stroke consequences reported by stroke patients and their caregivers can be an important source of information for healthcare professionals in order to optimise the care and support they provide at various stages of life after stroke. Background: Nursing educators play a critical role in training future nurses, and high turnover can disrupt the training quality and process. This study identified the institutional and personal factors influencing Canadian nursing educators' job satisfaction and turnover intention. Methods: This cross-sectional study used an online survey to obtain the levels of job satisfaction, turnover intention, role description, and institutional and personal/demographic characteristics of nursing faculty across Canadian institutions. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, chi-square, bivariate linear regression, and hierarchical linear regression. Results: A total of 645 participants, with a mean ± SD age of 48.82 ± 10.11 years, returned a completed questionnaire. The average/maximum job satisfaction and turnover intention scores were 12.59/20 ± 3.96 and 6.50/15 ± 3.05, respectively. Higher job satisfaction was significantly associated with lower turnover intention (β=-0.559, p < 0.001). The multivariate analysis showed that having a partner or being married (β = 0.086, p = 0.031), working ≤ 40 h weekly (β=-0.235, p < 0.001), teaching ≤ 4 courses annually (β=-0.115, p = 0.007), and having higher than bachelor's degree qualification (β=-0.091, p = 0.042) predicted high job satisfaction, while high turnover intention was associated with faculty in the Prairie region (β = 0.135, p = 0.006) and working ≥ 41 h weekly (β = 0.151, p = 0.001). Conclusion: Having a partner, manageable workload, and advanced qualifications positively influenced job satisfaction, while high turnover intention was associated with high workloads. Institutions may benefit from ensuring proportionate faculty workloads, fostering career advancement, and providing robust support systems that can stabilise the workforce and preserve the quality of nursing education. Introduction: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is highly heterogeneous, with substantial individual variabilities in clinical progression and neurobiology. Amyloid deposition has been thought to drive cognitive decline and thus a major contributor to the variations in cognitive deterioration in AD. However, the clinical heterogeneity of patients with early symptomatic AD (mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia due to AD) already with evidence of amyloid abnormality in the brain is still unknown. Methods: Participants with a baseline diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia, a positive amyloid-PET scan, and more than one follow-up Alzheimer’s Disease Assessment Scale-Cognitive Subscale-13 (ADAS-Cog-13) administration within a period of 5-year follow-up were selected from the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative database (n = 421; age = 73±7; years of education = 16 ± 3; percentage of female gender = 43%; distribution of APOE4 carriers = 68%). A nonparametric k-means longitudinal clustering analysis in the context of the ADASCog-13 data was performed to identify cognitive subtypes. Results: We found a highly variable profile of cognitive decline among patients with early AD and identified 4 clusters characterized by distinct rates of cognitive progression. Among the groups there were significant differences in the magnitude of rates of changes in other cognitive and functional outcomes, clinical progression from mild cognitive impairment to dementia, and changes in markers presumed to reflect neurodegeneration and neuronal injury. A nomogram based on a simplified logistic regression model predicted steep cognitive trajectory with an AUC of 0.912 (95% CI: 0.88 – 0.94). Simulation of clinical trials suggested that the incorporation of the nomogram into enrichment strategies would reduce the required sample sizes from 926.8 (95% CI: 822.6 – 1057.5) to 400.9 (95% CI: 306.9 – 516.8). Background: There is a lack of further exploration of the epileptogenic network of specific types of epilepsy, such as unilateral hippocampal sclerosis (HS), and there is an urgent need to find exact evidence to confirm the consistency of its brain network changes. Methods: We enrolled 22 mesial temporal lobe epilepsy with hippocampal sclerosis (mTLE-HS) patients to compare the differences in brain activity between 22 healthy controls (HCs) and them. Resting-state electroencephalography (EEG) was also measured. Then, we calculated the power spectral density and phase locking values in and between these electrodes. Results: The results showed the increased theta power was related to the high severity of epilepsy in the temporal, parietal, and central regions in mTLE-HS patients, and there were positive correlations between theta power in the contralateral temporal region and seizure frequency. Theta power in the ipsilateral parietal lobe is positively correlated with the number of anti-seizure medications (ASMs), but not with the usage of third-generation ASMs. Meanwhile, the temporal lobe of mTLE-HS patients had more connectivity with parietal lobe and central region. Conclusions: Theta power is an important EEG indicator of mTLE-HS, positively correlates with epilepsy severity and seizure frequency, and has network properties that can be observed outside the lesion. Moreover, the usage of third-generation ASMs did not affect the risk of increased theta power. Lastly, the temporoparietal and temporal-central networks are likely to be causative pathways in epilepsy patients with cognitive impairment. Background: The goal of the research was to examine the value of peripheral blood indicators in forecasting survival and recurrence among people suffering central‐type non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) undergoing sleeve lobectomy (SL). Methods: Clinical information was gathered from 146 individuals suffering from NSCLC who had SL at our facility between January 2014 and May 2023. Peripheral blood neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and platelet lymphocyte ratio (PLR) levels were determined by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve to establish the threshold points. Kaplan–Meier survival analysis was employed to evaluate the prognostic value of different groupings, and both univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards model (referred to as COX) were performed. Results: The disease‐free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) cutoff values were carried out via ROC analysis. Kaplan–Meier survival analysis revealed notable differences in OS for NLR (≥2.196 vs. <2.196, p = 0.0009), MLR (≥0.2763 vs. <0.2763, p = 0.0018), and PLR (≥126.11 vs. <126.11, p = 0.0354). Similarly, significant differences in DFS were observed for NLR (≥3.010 vs. <3.010, p = 0.0005), MLR (≥0.2708 vs. <0.2708, p = 0.0046), and PLR (≥126.11 vs. <126.11, p = 0.0028). Univariate Cox analysis showed that NLR (hazard ratio [HR]: 2.469; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.416–4.306, p < 0.001), MLR (HR: 2.192, 95% CI: 1.319–3.643, p = 0.002) and PLR (HR: 1.696, 95% CI: 1.029–2.795, p = 0.038) were correlated alongside OS. Multivariate Cox analysis showed that NLR (HR: 2.036, 95% CI: 1.072–3.864, p = 0.030) was a separate OS risk variable. Additionally, the pN stage (HR: 3.163, 95% CI: 1.660–6.027, p < 0.001), NLR (HR: 2.530, 95% CI: 1.468–4.360, p < 0.001), MLR (HR: 2.229, 95% CI: 1.260–3.944, p = 0.006) and PLR (HR: 2.249, 95% CI: 1.300–3.889, p = 0.004) were connected to DFS. Multivariate Cox analysis showed that pN stage (HR: 3.098, 95% CI: 1.619–5.928, p < 0.001) was a separate DFS risk variable. Conclusion: The study demonstrates that NLR, MLR, and PLR play a convenient and cost‐effective role in predicting survival and recurrence among individuals alongside central‐type NSCLC having SL. Background: A combination of prone positioning (PP) and venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO) is safe, feasible, and associated with potentially improved survival for severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). However, whether ARDS patients, especially non-COVID-19 patients, placed in PP before VV-ECMO should continue PP after a VV-ECMO connection is unknown. This study aimed to test the hypothesis that early use of PP during VV-ECMO could increase the proportion of patients successfully weaned from ECMO support in severe ARDS patients who received PP before ECMO. Methods: In this prospective observational study, patients with severe ARDS who were treated with VV-ECMO were divided into two groups: the prone group and the supine group, based on whether early PP was combined with VV-ECMO. The proportion of patients successfully weaned from VV-ECMO and 60-day mortality were analyzed before and after propensity score matching. Results: A total of 165 patients were enrolled, 50 in the prone and 115 in the supine group. Thirty-two (64%) and 61 (53%) patients were successfully weaned from ECMO in the prone and the supine groups, respectively. The proportion of patients successfully weaned from VV-ECMO in the prone group tended to be higher, albeit not statistically significant. During PP, there was a significant increase in partial pressure of arterial oxygen (PaO2) without a change in ventilator or ECMO settings. Tidal impedance shifted significantly to the dorsal region, and lung ultrasound scores significantly decreased in the anterior and posterior regions. Forty-five propensity score-matched patients were included in each group. In this matched sample, the prone group had a higher proportion of patients successfully weaned from VV-ECMO (64.4% vs. 42.2%; P = 0.035) and lower 60-day mortality (37.8% vs. 60.0%; P = 0.035). Conclusions: Patients with severe ARDS placed in PP before VV-ECMO should continue PP after VV-ECMO support. This approach could increase the probability of successful weaning from VV-ECMO. Objective: The cingulate sulcus sign (CSS) has been observed in patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH), suggesting potential disruptions in cerebrospinal fluid circulation and compromised glymphatic system. Although there are similarities in the underlying mechanisms between cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) and iNPH, the relationship between CSS and CSVD remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and potential mechanisms of CSS in patients with CSVD. Methods: Data from patients diagnosed with CSVD at Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University between January 2020 and October 2022 were retrospectively collected, including general information, global cognitive function [assessed by measuring Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE)], and four CSVD magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) markers [(white matter hyperintensity (WMH), cerebral microbleeds (CMBs), lacunes, and enlarged perivascular spaces (EPVS)], CSS and the Evan's index (EI). Results: A total of 308 patients were included, and CSS was detected in 80 patients (26%). Univariate analysis revealed that MMSE scores in the CSS group were significantly lower compared to the non-CSS group (p < 0.001). Multivariable analysis showed an independent correlation between CSS and the presence of lacunes (odds ratio [OR] 0.358, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.193-0.663, p = 0.001), presence of lobar dominant CMBs (OR 2.683, 95%CI 1.385-5.195, p = 0.003), periventricular WMH Fazekas score (OR 1.693, 95% CI 1.133-2.529, p = 0.01), and EI (OR 1.276, 95% CI 1.146-1.420, p < 0.001). Conclusion: This preliminary study showed that CSS can be observed in some patients with CSVD. Background: Within the NICU, there is a delicate equilibrium between providing assistance to parents by nurses and prioritising family-centred care (FCC). The FCC assumes the role of a mediator, effectively conveying compassion. The intricate dynamics between FCC, parental nurse support, and parental stress in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) necessitate comprehensive investigation. Objective: This study examines the mediating effect of FCC on the relationship between parental nurse support and parental stress in NICUs. Methods: This cross-sectional observational study used convenience sampling to select 223 parents (202 mothers) from Mansoura City hospitals in Egypt. Data were collected using the Nurse Parent Support Tool (NPST), Family-Centered Care Self-Assessment Tool (FCCS-NICU), and the Parental Stressor Scale: NICU (PSS: NICU). Mediation analysis was used to examine the relationships between variables. Results: Nurse support was positively associated with FCC (β = 0.81, p < 0.001) and negatively related to parental stress (β=-1.156, p < 0.001). FCC was found to reduce parental stress (β=-0.18, p < 0.001). Mediation analysis confirmed that FCC partially mediated the relationship between nurse support and parental stress (indirect effect β = 0.145, 95% CI: 0.055–1.007). Conclusions: This study highlights a significant association in the mediating role of FCC between nurse support and parental stress. Strengthening FCC practices can be an effective strategy for nurses to support parents and alleviate their stress in NICU settings. Implications to practice: NICUs should implement FCC-oriented training for nurses, foster a culture that supports FCC principles, and develop policies to establish FCC as a cornerstone of neonatal care. Background: The present study is to evaluate the clinical characteristics of patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Methods: A total of 3362 TMD patients were included. Each participant had complete medical records according to the diagnostic criteria for temporomandibular disorders (DC/TMD). The clinical characteristics including symptoms and signs in relation to age and gender were analyzed. Results: The mean age of the patients seeking care was 29.89 ± 13.73Y, and 68.6% of patients were aged 16–35 years. The female-to-male ratio of patients was 2.2: 1, and the average age of males was significantly lower than that of females. The prevalence of clicking symptoms decreased with age, while the prevalence of pain symptoms and limitations in jaw movement increased with age. Females were more likely to have limitations in jaw movement than males. Among the patients with pain, the average visual analogue scale (VAS) was 2.96 ± 1.23. The average VAS score of acute TMD patients (≤ 3 months) was significantly higher than that of chronic TMD patients (> 3 months). Conclusions: The majority of TMD patients seeking care were young people. The number and average age of female patients was higher than the males. Objective: To explore the main factors affecting early dental caries among preschool children aged 3–6 years in Xingtai City to formulate effective preventive measures. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 570 preschool children aged 3–6 years in Xingtai City through questionnaire surveys and oral examinations to understand their dental caries situation. Multifactorial logistic regression analysis was used to analyse the main influencing factors for the occurrence of dental caries in preschool children. Results: Univariate analysis showed statistically significant differences in age (χ2 = 2.636, p = 0.008), father's education level (χ2 = 4.207, p < 0.001), mother's education level (χ2 = 4.217, p < 0.001), daily tooth brushing frequency (χ2 = 3.160, p = 0.002), age of starting tooth brushing (χ2 = 8.756, p < 0.001), mouth rinsing after meals (χ2 = 89.401, p < 0.001), Streptococcus mutans positivity (χ2 = 133.503, p < 0.001), non-sweet snack consumption frequency (χ2 = 5.962, p < 0.001), snack flavour preference (χ2 = 116.119, p < 0.001), use of fluoridated toothpaste (χ2 = 75.639, p < 0.001), regular oral examinations (χ2 = 98.711, p < 0.001), sugary drink consumption frequency (χ2 = 10.370, p < 0.001) and sweet food consumption frequency (χ2 = 9.261, p < 0.001) between the caries and non-caries groups. Multifactorial analysis revealed that older age (odds ratio [OR] = 5.342, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.434–6.631), later initiation of tooth brushing (OR = 3.244, 95% CI: 2.413–5.424), S. mutans positivity (OR = 5.357, 95% CI: 4.529–8.563), high snack consumption frequency (OR = 3.452, 95% CI: 2.634–5.442), high sugary drink consumption frequency (OR = 4.414, 95% CI: 2.534–6.451) and high sweet food consumption frequency (OR = 4.531, 95% CI: 3.421–6.354) were risk factors for dental caries. Higher father's educational level (OR = 0.724, 95% CI: 0.564–0.891), higher mother's educational level (OR = 0.641, 95% CI: 0.601–0.813), high daily tooth brushing frequency (OR = 0.572, 95% CI: 0.423–0.864), mouth rinsing after meals (OR = 0.743, 95% CI: 0.643–0.813), use of fluoridated toothpaste (OR = 0.657, 95% CI: 0.553–0.931) and regular oral examinations (OR = 0.443, 95% CI: 0.352–0.747) were protective factors against dental caries (all p < 0.05). Conclusion: Multiple factors result in early dental caries in preschool children aged 3–6 years; however, the most influential factors are older age and high snack consumption, as well as high sugary and sweet food/drink consumption. Background: Previous studies examined the association of Helicobacter pylori infection (H. pylori) with complications of diabetes, but the results have been inconsistent. The aim of this study of patients with type-2 diabetes (T2D) was to determine the association of H. pylori infection with the major complications of diabetes. Methods: This single-center retrospective study examined patients with T2D who received H. pylori testing between January 2016 and December 2021. Logistic regression analyses were used to evaluate the association of H. pylori infection with four major complications of diabetes. Results: We examined 960 patients with T2D, and 481 of them (50.1%) were positive for H. pylori. H. pylori infection was significantly associated with diabetic nephropathy (odds ratio [OR] = 1.462; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.006,2.126; P = 0.046). In addition, the co-occurrence of H. pylori positivity with hypertension (OR = 4.451; 95% CI: 2.351,8.427; P < 0.001), with glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) of at least 8% (OR = 2.925; 95% CI: 1.544,5.541; P = 0.001), and with diabetes duration of at least 9 years (OR = 3.305; 95% CI:1.823,5.993; P < 0.001) further increased the risk of diabetic nephropathy. There was no evidence of an association of H. pylori infection with retinopathy, neuropathy, or peripheral vascular disease. Conclusions: Our study of T2D patients indicated that those with H. pylori infections had an increased risk of nephropathy, and this risk was greater in patients who also had hypertension, an HbA1c level of 8% or more, and diabetes duration of 9 years or more. Simple Summary: Many patients undergoing major abdominal surgery experience changes in their albumin levels, but the impact of this on their recovery is not well understood. Our research focused on patients who had cytoreductive surgery and a special chemotherapy treatment during surgery. We looked at how albumin levels changed from the time of surgery until three days after surgery and whether these changes were linked to major complications. We found that patients whose albumin levels dropped significantly during surgery were more likely to have serious complications. By tracking albumin levels, we might better predict and manage complications after this type of surgery. Our findings suggest that monitoring albumin could improve patient outcomes in the future. The clinical consequences of perioperative albumin extravasation accompanying major abdominal surgery remain underexplored. We retrospectively reviewed the data of patients who underwent cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraoperative peritoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). Parameters of albumin kinetics, including serum albumin concentration decrease (∆Alb) and extravasated albumin level (Albshift), were assessed from surgery until postoperative day (POD) 3. Logistic regression analysis identified factors associated with major complications. The association of albumin kinetics with major complications was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. Serum albumin levels decreased during surgery and subsequently increased. Of the 121 analyzed patients, 25 (21%) developed major complications. The ∆Alb and Albshift during surgery and on POD 3 were greater in patients who developed major complications than in those who did not (12 ± 12 vs. 6 ± 14, p = 0.032, and 127.5 (71.9) vs. 48.5 (44.9), p < 0.001, respectively). Perioperative ∆Alb and Albshift were associated with major complications. The areas under the ROC curve of Albshift during the 3 days post-surgery and Albshift on POD 3 were 0.843 and 0.910, respectively. Albshift during the 3 days post-surgery and Albshift on POD 3 were correlated with complications (p < 0.05). Background: This study investigates the effectiveness of a self-developed intelligent monitoring system for home-based knee rehabilitation following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Methods: In this randomized controlled trial, 120 patients undergoing TKA were divided using random digit allocation. Preoperative and one-month postoperative assessments of knee function, quality of life, and isometric knee extension strength were conducted with the Intelligent Monitoring System. Patients received group-specific rehabilitation instructions pre-discharge and performed exercises for one month. Results: Changes in isometric knee extensor strength on the affected side within one month post-surgery for the brace-monitored rehabilitation group showed a significant decrease three days after surgery compared to one day before surgery. Subsequent measurements taken at postoperative days 5, 7, 14, and 21 indicated a gradual increase in strength, although these increases did not reach statistical significance when compared with previous measurements. One month post-surgery, all groups demonstrated significant improvements in knee joint function and mobility compared to pre-surgery levels. Notably, the brace-monitored group showed statistically significant improvements in 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) scores over the conventional rehabilitation group. Conclusions: The Intelligent Monitoring System provides effective real-time monitoring and guidance for home-based knee rehabilitation post-TKA. It significantly enhances knee joint function, isometric knee extension strength, and quality of life shortly after surgery compared to traditional rehabilitation methods. This system offers a promising approach for improving postoperative recovery in TKA patients. (1) Background: Physical activity is known to promote health and psychological well-being in older adults, yet global inactivity rates in this population remain high. Among the factors associated with physical activity, self-efficacy for exercise represents a key predictor for developing effective interventions in older adults. This study aimed to validate the Self-Efficacy for Exercise Scale (SEE) in individuals over 65. (2) Methods: A sample of 726 older adults from the USA and Italy (51.1% females; age range = 65–95 years; Mage = 72.57, SDage = 6.49) completed the SEE, along with the Godin–Shepard Leisure-Time Physical Activity Questionnaire (GSLTPAQ), the Big Five Inventory 2—Extra Short Form (BFI-2-XS), and the 12-item Short Form Health Survey (SF-12). (3) Results: The SEE showed a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.88 and a Composite Reliability of 0.89. Moreover, it demonstrated a unidimensional factor structure and good fit indices. Full measurement invariance was achieved across gender and age, while partial scalar invariance was found across countries, suggesting minor cultural differences. Correlation with the GSLTPAQ, the BFI-2-XS, and the SF-12 support the convergent and nomological validity of the SEE. (4) Conclusions: These findings provide evidence that the SEE is a reliable and valid measure of self-efficacy for exercise among older adults and that the items are interpreted similarly across different ages, genders, and cultures. Depression is one of the most prevalent mental disorders worldwide. This study examined the effect of a spiritual connectivity intervention on individuals with depression in a randomized waitlist-controlled trial. Fifty-seven participants with mild or moderate depressive symptoms were randomly assigned to either the intervention group (n = 28) or the waitlist control group (n = 29). The intervention comprised eight weekly sessions focusing on divine connection, forgiveness and freedom, suffering and transcendence, hope, gratitude, and relapse prevention. The outcome measures included depressive symptoms, anxiety, hope, meaning in life, self-esteem, and social support. Participants completed self-administered questionnaires at baseline (week 0), post-intervention (week 8), and 3-month follow-up (week 20). Repeated-measures ANOVA and one-way ANCOVA were used to compare the within-group and between-group differences in the changes in outcome variables. Participants in the intervention group showed significant improvements in depression, anxiety, spiritual experience, hope, self-esteem, and perceived social support after the intervention. Effect size statistics showed small to large differences (Cohen's d, 0.308 to −1.452). Moreover, 85.71% of participants in the intervention group also experienced clinically significant reductions in PHQ-9 scores from baseline to immediate post-intervention. Optimal seatbelt practices for pregnant women with twins at different gestational ages remain uncertain. To offer recommendations for a comfortable seatbelt system, this cross-sectional observational study explored seatbelt usage and driving habits among women with twins across various pregnancy stages through an online survey that explored driving conditions and comfortable seatbelts at different stages of pregnancy. Women who drove daily before their pregnancy with twins decreased their driving frequency as the pregnancy progressed. Correct seatbelt usage was lower and no seatbelt usage was higher among pregnant women with twins than those with singleton pregnancies. They adapted their seatbelt-wearing techniques to minimise pressure on the chest in the first and third trimesters and the abdomen from the second trimester onwards. The comfortable seatbelts were those that could alleviate belt pressure, featuring waist belts to reduce pressure, wider belts to avoid localised pressure, and shoulder belts resembling a backpack type. When wearing a seatbelt, avoiding pressure on the thorax and abdomen is key for pregnant women with twins. This study suggests that the suitability of driving for pregnant women with twins in their last trimester and the reliability of seatbelts designed for such women should be further examined and validated.
