With a current electrification rate of60% (2022), Senegal government plans to achieve policy goals for Universal Electricity Access by 2035. And this passes through the development of electrification projects particulary for the rural areas. This presentation is about rural electrification planning for Senegalby using the open source and interactive platform : Energy Access Explorer. By using the EAE platform, scenarios were investigated to get high priority areas where the solar minigrids should be expanded. By matching supply to the growing demand, the aim is to identify the high priority rural areas for off-grids electrification with solar technologyand visualise how electricity demand is distributed with priority accorded to health access. The scenarios combined 2 datasets in demand (demographics and social productives uses like healthcare facilities) and 3 datasets in supply (solar resources, grid network and existing mini-grids) These scenarios were runfor learning purposes at the Joint Summer School on Modelling Tools for Sustainable Development 2023 (#SDSummerSchool), held from 3to 13 July 2023 atTrieste(Italy) through an ICTP Hybrid Meeting. The track was focusing on EAE tool : "Energy Access Explorer: A Data-driven, Integrated and Inclusive Approach to Planning for Achieving Universal Access to Energy for Equitable Development". Data are now valued as the new oil that powers the world economy. Globally, Big data technologies have intensified the need for Sustainable Data Governance (SDG). Significant empirical evidence from literature revealed that about 2.7 zettabytes of data now in the digital universe are being threatened by cybercrime incidents that are on the rise globally. Despite the importance of SDG and cyber security, only 67% of organizations globally deployed data governance or data intelligence solutions, while 46% including Nigeria had no formal governance strategy in place. This study highlights strategies to leverage good security measures for SDG. The authors adopted the Data Management Association (DAMA) International Guide to the Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK) (DAMA-DMBOK) as a conceptual framework for this study. The narrative review methodology was adopted, where related research findings from peer-reviewed articles are used to draw holistic findings that revealed significant information on strategies for leveraging excellent security practices within SDG for economic empowerment. Results show that data governance, a fundamental part of cyber security, ensures that the right people have the right access, while Information Security ensures that Enterprise Data is safe and locked down. Cyber security is at the core of ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability of organizations’ data and leveraging data governance program that ensures that safe data is accessible across the organization in a controlled manner. The result of this study may increase understanding, and awareness of the need for information security to leverage SDG required for economic empowerment.

The main objective of this study is to understand the connection between the SDGs and development cooperation policies ofthe Spanish autonomous communities, analysing the impact of the 2030 Agenda in relation to the functions of these policies, as well as the relationship between development cooperation and other public policies. The study examines in a comparative manner, through different experiences, how the SDGs are integrated into the different stages of the development policy cycle – planning, monitoring and assessment; how they affect the different instruments and modalities of development cooperation; their impact on the generation of new partnerships, and the extent to which they modify the place of development cooperation in the policy arrangements in each autonomous community for the general implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

To fulfil the goals of SDGs, “Skill Development programs” are essential for Bangladesh. These programs are working as a trump card to develop the features of SDG. As Japan is a good friend of Bangladesh, they are helping us to achieve the goals of SDGs through their various projects of skill development programs like MEXT, PEDP, B-JET, TTC and JDS etc.

In recent years, the scale of the impact of climate change and its related side effects has become ever more massive and devastating. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoted by United Nations, aim to front issues related to climate change, among others. In particular, the project CROWD4SDG focuses on a bunch of SDGs, since it promotes environmental activities and climate-related issues. In this context, we developed a prototype of an application, under advanced development considering web design, that focuses on SDG 13 (SDG on climate action) by providing users with useful instruments to face environmental crises and climate-related disasters. Our prototype is thought and structured for both web and mobile development. The main goal of the application, POLI4SDG, is to help users to get through emergency services. To this extent, an organized overview and classification prove to be very effective and helpful to people in need. A careful analysis of data related to environmental crises prompted us to integrate the user contribution, i.e. exploiting a core principle of Citizen Science, into the realization of a public catalog, available for consulting and organized according to typology and specific features. In addition, gender equality and opportunity features are considered in the prototype, in order to allow women, often the most vulnerable category, to have direct support. The overall description of the application functionalities is detailed. Moreover, implementation features and properties of the prototype are discussed.

The MENA Regional Division of IFLA andMohammedSekkat University Library (Hassan II University of Casablanca) are organizing a meeting with researchers and librarians about the topic: "Libraries advocates for the sustainable development goals" The objective of the event is to exchange ideas on sustainable development goals and focus on the role that information and documentation services play in their implementation in the arab societies.

In the context of urban policies, the circular economy can represent a virtuous model of sustainable and efficient management of resources and services for citizens, generating value for the community. Local policymakers play a central role in accelerating the circular economy transition, given that they organize and manage services that can significantly contribute to urban resilience. For policies to be properly designed, tools aimed at supporting territorial planning are needed to direct local policy towards choices that favor the circular economy and the resilience of cities. Among these urban planning tools, it is particularly important to have dashboards of comparative data on the degree of implementation of the circular economy. This paper provides a circularity mapping framework to map the degree of circularity and identify cities' strengths and weaknesses to design policies accordingly using a data-driven approach. Using a circular economy model based on 5 circular economy pillars, we identified 28 variables and assigned them to each of the pillars according to the variable's scope: sustainable inputs, social sharing, Product as a service, environmental policies, and resource efficiency. Both partial scores based on the five circular economy pillars, and a circularity index are provided for benchmarking and positioning analysis. Since urban life's environmental, economic, and social aspects are intertwined, only an integrated strategy can result in successful urban sustainable development. The paper supports policymakers in creating the conditions for efficient production and consumption markets and resource management systems while designing incentives and communications to citizens to support bottom-up initiatives and encourage virtuous behavior.

De gemeente Utrecht en andere overheden streven ernaar voor 2030 de zeventien duurzame ontwikkelingsdoelen (SDGs) te bereiken. De medewerking van zowel rijkere als armere burgers is hiervoor nodig. In Duurzaam Utrecht 2030 vragen we mensen met een smalle beurs hoe ze zelf duurzaam willen leven en betrekken politici, ambtenaren, onderwijsinstellingen, sociale partners en burgers bij oplossingen om deze wensen mogelijk te maken. Dit rapport richt de focus op de activiteiten in Duurzaam Utrecht 2030 in het najaar van 2022. Tussen 9 oktober 2021 en 11 november 2022 zijn 42 ontmoetingen georganiseerd op 30 locaties verspreid over de stad Utrecht, met 500 mensen. Hierbij zijn ongeveer 150 vrijwilligers betrokken, 19 studenten en 2 scholieren. De bijbehorende mediacampagne bereikte ongeveer 1 miljoen mensen via kranten, radio, stadstv en eigen media van partners. Dankzij subsidie van de gemeente Utrecht (Initiatievenfonds), Kerk en Wereld en Katholieke Caritas Utrecht en bijdragen in natura van tientallen organisaties is inhoudelijk voortgang geboekt op het gebied van samen tuinieren, subsidie op biologische boodschappen, en energieadvies in huis. Duurzaam Utrecht 2030 won de derde prijs van de Mantel van Sint Maarten 2022. Dit vormt een goede basis voor vervolginitiatieven in 2023.

The deliverable makes a thorough analysis of the EO domain, related semantics, and projects and implements an EIFFEL ontology (EIFF-O) in a modular way by combining various aspects: The ECV taxonomy focuses on the Essential Climate Variables (ECVs) specified by the GCOS (Global Climate Observing System) community. The SDG taxonomy focuses on the Sustainable Development Goals as defined by the United Nations (UN). The EO taxonomy mainly focuses on the two different EO perspectives: (i) the market perspective as perceived by users, and: (i) the thematic perspective as perceived by the (data) providers. The EIFF-O ontology acts as a wrapper from the previous ontologies and provides a way of defining and discovering EO applications, datasets providers, and documents to users.

For an economy to attain overall greatness and steady growth there has to be strategies planned and implemented. An achieving and stable economy should offer quality education, good health facilities and services, little or no poverty, job opportunities and fence gender inequality as these are the building blocks of humans and the society at large. This paper offers a conceptual business model for a Malaysian University-of-the-Future (UotF) with the value proposition of enhancing the societal wellbeing of B40 youth in Nigeria through digital platform and university international community engagement (UICE) activities with focus on balanced entrepreneurship education. Enhancing societal wellbeing include balanced education, reduced poverty, decent work and economic growth, good health and gender fairness. The conceptual business model is developed through understanding the needs of B40 youth in Nigeria by using business modeling tools i.e. Business Model Canvas (BMC) and Value Proposition Design Canvas (VPC). The approach involves carrying out a literature review and interviews to identify key issues of Customer Segments, formulating and devising an initial business model – in the form of BMC and VPC, and value proposition that helps to enhance the wellbeing of B40 youth in Nigeria. The contribution of this paper is a conceptual business model of the Malaysian UotF which includes a digital platform and university international community engagement (UICE) activities with focus on balanced entrepreneurship education. The UotF business model proposed in this paper will aid communities and the general society in Nigeria to acquire the relevant skills, knowledge, values, and platform needed to furnish the societal wellbeing. People across society should be able to find and access research publications. However, increased open access does not necessarily mean that publications are easy to access. Outside academia people may have issues finding relevant research and locating open versions, for example due to lack of support, time, or access to search tools. Sustainability research is an area where this issue is particularly pertinent, as varied societal actors want to support sustainable transitions and practices. In 2020 we published a bibliometric study comparing mappings of research connected to the SDGs (Armitage et al. 2020). Taking inspiration from portals such as swedishscience, this has been developed into a project focusing on societal access, where we are building a portal for Norwegian sustainability research (supported by the National Library of Norway; project website). During development we aim to address some of the issues highlighted by our bibliometric study, including: Target-level mapping More complete coverage of subjects and Norwegian-language publications by combining multiple data sources (such as Norway’s CRIS and National Infrastructure for Bibliometrics) Implementing plural mappings, allowing users to view sets with different “relevance” to sustainability Making it easier for users outside academia, with a focus on open science In this poster presentation, we present our current solutions, including technical, user-input and communication aspects. L’esigenza delle pubbliche amministrazioni di volgere verso economie ambientali e sociali emerge dai principali stakeholders nazionali e internazionali. Non a caso l’Unione Europea o le Nazioni Unite hanno da sempre sostenuto la necessita cogente di un cambio di paradigma glocale. Tuttavia, nonostante numerosi studi e ricerche applicative, gli ambiti di sostenibilità risultano sempre più spesso studiati a livello nazionale, regionale o a livello di grandi città faro. La presente ricerca ha l’obiettivo di mappare ed analizzare gli indicatori di sostenibilità, cd. “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” all’interno del contesto di un comune – azienda pubblica – di piccole-medie dimensioni. Dopo un approfondito studio teorico della letteratura basato sul metodo bibliometrico, un caso studio è stato presentato e applicato per l’esplorazione empirica dei risultati. Lo studio dimostra come ci siano ancora numerose criticità attribuibili sia alle metriche di analisi, sia rispetto alle tipologie di indicatori adottabili nelle municipalità di piccola-media dimensione. Ciò è dovuto, in larga parte, all’assenza di indicatori aggiornati e disponibili che possano essere fattivamente mappati.

This paper is about the practical usage of distributed ledger technology to promote the application of big data to development, bringing benefits to the relationship between society, media, technology, e-commerce and political power. The main ideas of the work are that there is a subtle limit between the ethical social use of data, fair competition and the privacy right; the data protection regulations are difficult to be traced and possibly insufficient; the use of distributed ledger technology can bring more security, accountability and data protection. This subject is especially important to track the effectiveness of voluntary sustainability standard in a global value chain production economy because there is a wide range of performance, quality and credibility difference among the various standards that have been used. The complexity lies in identifying those that are really relevant to economic, social and environmental development, that do not constitute mere greenwash or unjustifiable excessive demands just to harm the competition. This plan can be used for sustainability of education. We don’t need uncertain time to start adapting this model, rather, initiate and keep this backup plan for future use. Throughout phases proposed by Dr. Munir, interconnectedness, continuous reflection, risk management, quality participation, socio-emotional learning, mental hygiene, capacity building through self-empowerment skills, ethical leadership, humanism rather than economic development, continuous learning, and amalgamation of pedagogies and heutagogies must be taken into consideration. This model is recognized during UNESCO's World Higher Education Conference.

This white paper summarises findings from a joint project between Springer Nature, the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) and the Dutch University Libraries and the National Library consortium (UKB), exploring how research content is being used outside of academia. It draws together findings from a bibliometric analysis of nearly 360,000 documents published in 2017 (book chapters, journal documents and proceedings), and a survey of nearly 6,000 readers on Springer Nature websites, putting a spotlight on the potential impact of immediate Gold OA publishing on societal impact: who uses research content where this relates to the SDGs, and for what purpose? Our results show a strong OA advantage, with a high volume of readers from non-academic communities.

While the body of knowledge about WHAT is learned through participation in online Citizen Science projects has grown over the past years (Aristeidou & Herodotou, 2020), the research field also shifts focus to better understand HOW task-sharing and learning happen in Citizen Science (CS). Technology-enhanced and online citizen science projects allow for analytical tools to be applied directly to digital traces (e.g. Herodotou et al. 2020, August et al., 2020). Even in the absence of explicit (inter-)action logs from project activities, we can rely on accumulated “knowledge artefacts” as data sources, for instance in the form of forum postings or blog entries. Question-answer or request-reply structures in such user-generated knowledge bases can be extracted and transformed into social network graphs that represent the structure of the underlying interactions. Centrality measures such as Eigenvector centrality or “Page Rank” allow for identifying influential users in such contexts (cf. Franceschet, 2011; Tang & Yang, 2010). The distribution of these measures of influence between citizen scientists (volunteers), assigned community moderators and professional scientists reflects the roles of these different groups in a project community. Increasing individual centrality values over time indicate a growing influence of a participant and enable us to map individual learning trajectories. In the context of the EU project CS Track, we have applied this methodology to the popular Zooniverse project Chimp&See, which is based on the analysis of wildlife camera recordings especially of chimpanzees across Africa. The project has an explicit conservation goal (SDG 15 - Life on land) and has involved more than 5500 volunteers. We analysed the communication between volunteers, scientists and moderators in the public discussion forum using techniques of social network analysis. The findings show that moderators play a crucial role in mediating and coordinating citizen science activities. Using this example, we demonstrate the potential of network analysis methods to help in the design, facilitation and assessment of participation, decision-making and knowledge-building in such online communities. This article aims to describe how the community service benefits young generations, especially students of high school in responding the trash problem in Pekanbaru. The fact that society including students did not possess enough awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) regarding thrash problem was the main reason for the community service event. The community service was conducted in the form of training and empowerment which emphasized the participants’ active engagement. The event has shown some positive outputs such as the participants’ understanding on trash problem and the SDGs’ goals as well as their awareness of role and contribution in creating free-trash environments. These are expected to meet two of the SDGs’ goals; sustainable cities and communities; and responsible consumption and production from non-governmental community side.&nbsp
