The hydrogen-induced stress corrosion cracking (HISCC) behavior of SUS301L-MT stainless steel laser-arc hybrid welding (LAHW) joints was investigated using slow strain rate tensile (SSRT) method in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution under different cathodic potentials. With the negative shift of applied potentials from open circle potential (OCP) to −1400 mV SCE , the HISCC susceptibility index ( I SSRT ) decreased from 0.15 (OCP) to 0.06 (−400 mV SCE ), then increased to 0.28 (−1400 mV SCE ). The specimens tested in air and under OCP to −800 mV ruptured in weld metal zone with ductile features of dimples. While with the potential turned more negative, the specimens ruptured in base metal zone with brittle features of transgranular cleave in martensite, intergranular failure and secondary cracks [Chen et al., Int. The stress corrosion cracking (SCC) behaviors at slow strain rate tensile (SSRT) test of AISI301L stainless steel laser-MIG welded joints in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution at 20C, 40C and 60C were investigated. The results showed that the weld metal composed of as-cast with -Fe and austenite. The base metal (BM) and heat affected zone (HAZ) contained strain-induced M phase. The stress and strain decreased with the increasing temperature. The SCC cracks are initiated by anodic dissolution at 20C. Besides the anodic dissolution mechanism, hydrogen-induced SCC mechanism had appeared in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution at 40C and 60C. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The doping effects of low melting-point nonmagnetic 3+ ions on the microstructure and electromagnetic properties of Mn-Zn ferrites were studied. All the samples were prepared by traditional ceramic technique. According to the investigation on the microstructure, it was found that all the samples consisted of ferrite phases with typical spinel cubic structure, and with increasing doping content of 3+ ions, the lattice constant of the ferrites decreased but the grain size increased; the elemental analysis taken on the ferrite grain and grain boundary indicated that a portion of 3+ ions entered into the ferrite lattice. Through the measurement of magnetic properties, it was revealed that, the saturation magnetization and initial permeability of the samples rose with small doping content of 3+ ions but decreased with additional 3+ doping; the Curie temperature decreased monotonously with 3+ doping; and the coercivity rose with increasing doping content of 3+ ions. The analysis of dielectric properties indicated that the dielectric constant of the doped - ferrites increased with increasing doping content of 3+ ions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Al3+-doped Ni-Zn ferrites with composition of Ni0.5Zn0.5(Fe1-xAlx)2 O4 (where x = 0, 0.012, 0.023, 0.035 and 0.045) were prepared by a method named "one-step synthesis." The magnetic and dielectric properties of the as-prepared Ni-Zn ferrites were investigated. X-ray diffraction data indicated that all the ferrite samples had a single-phase spinel structure. The addition of Al3+ resulted in a reduction of the grain size, lattice constant, density, shrinkage and saturation magnetization of the as-prepared samples. The Curie temperatures, however, raised first and reduced later with increasing contents of Al3+ in the samples, but still kept high values. Both the real and imaginary parts of permeability of ferrites decreased with increasing amount of Al3+ doped before they reached peak value. As the applied frequency increased to higher than about 10 MHz, the real part of permeability of non-doped ferrite had already become lower than those of ferrites doped with Al3+. Moreover, the doping of Al3+ made their utility of magnetic permeability move to much higher frequency. The observed decreases in dielectric constants and dielectric loss tangent could be attributed to the decreased electron conductivity by substituting Fe3+ with Al3+ in the samples. The as-prepared high-performance soft magnetic materials prepared using such a simple and low-cost method will be much promising in high-frequency applications and industrialization. It has been demonstrated that aqueous extract of Radix Hedysari Prescription and modified Radix Hedysari Prescription could improve the regeneration of injured peripheral nerve. Radix Hedysari is a main component in these two formulas. We hypothesized that Hedysari polysaccharides (HPS), a main active ingredient, could also enhance peripheral nerve regeneration after nerve injury in adult animals. In the present study, we examined the effects of HPS on sciatic nerve regeneration for 6 weeks following clamping in rats (administrated orally of 2 ml HPS liquid daily, 0.25 g/ml). The results showed that HPS was able to enhance sciatic function index (SFI) value, tibial function index (TFI) value, peroneal nerve function index (PFI) value, conduction velocity, and the number of regenerated myelinated nerve fibers, suggesting the potential clinical application of HPS for the treatment of peripheral nerve injury in humans. To determine the susceptibilities of Mycoplasma homonis (M. hominis) to Chinese medicinal herbs in vitro, 30 clinical strains of M. hominis were isolated and identified from the clinical specimen. The susceptibilities of M. hominis to 19 herbs were determined by serial dilution methods in vitro. The results showed that M. hominis was susceptible to Radix Isatidis, Radix Angelicae Dahuricae, Cortex Phellodendri, Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, Fructus Kochiae and Herba Houttuyniae. The emission properties of ZnO films deposited on Si substrates by reactive dc sputtering have been studied using synchrotron radiation (SR). The integrated luminescence spectra as well as the spectra at a fast time window from about 4 ns to 8 ns and a slow time window from about 20 ns to 160 ns were measured simultaneously, at a temperature range from several K to 300 K. Apart from the bound-exciton radiation recombination (peaked at 369.5 nm) and ultraviolet emission band (peaked at 380 nm), a new emission band peaked at 290 nm was found for the first time under SR vacuum ultraviolet excitation.
