Aim: Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder that makes self-care challenging for T1DM individuals and their caregivers. This qualitative study aimed to explore the perceived benefits of the Back to Basics-Diabesties (B2B) session among T1DM individuals and their caregivers in India. Materials and Methods: The B2B session is a structured intervention provided through telephonic peer counseling, aimed at enhancing the understanding of T1DM that provides practical knowledge of diabetes management, insulin administration, blood glucose monitoring, diet, exercise, and psychosocial aspects of living with T1DM. Overall, more than 1560 participants (T1DM/caregivers/family/friends) have opted for B2B session. A qualitative telephonic interview was conducted (n = 96) using a semistructured open-ended questionnaire to collect data on the perceived benefits of B2B session. The information obtained was then coded, and grouped to form themes. Results: According to T1DM individuals, B2B sessions enhanced diabetes knowledge and confidence, self-management abilities, increased sense of community and peer support, and easy accessibility. Caregivers reported that the B2B session provided emotional support, disease knowledge, shared experiences, practical ideas, and coping strategies. Most widely appreciated salient feature of B2B session was the peer counselors were themselves with T1DM or caregivers of T1DM, which created unbreakable trust among the study participants. Context: Internet addiction (IA) is a rising issue, particularly among university students. The presence of comorbid psychiatric distress can worsen the impact of IA on academic and social functioning. Alexithymia, difficulty recognizing and expressing emotions may play a role in this relationship. Aims: This study aimed to assess the severity and association of IA, psychological distress, and alexithymia among undergraduate medical students in India. Settings and Design: This was a cross-sectional study of 380 undergraduate medical students following convenience sampling, studying in Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMCRI), Mysuru. Background: Health-care workers (HCWs) in India have been heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, facing significant psychological distress due to their challenging work, exposure to the virus, and isolation. This study examines the emotional states and coping strategies of HCWs and the potential effects of religious coping mechanisms on their mental health. Aim: To explore the emotional state, coping strategies, and impact of religious beliefs on the mental health of junior doctors in a COVID-19-designated tertiary care hospital in Mysore. Methods: The cross-sectional survey-based observational study included residents and house surgeons working in COVID-19 wards. Sociodemographic data along with their emotional state and coping strategies were assessed using Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21), Brief COPE Inventory, and the Brief Religion COPE. Chi-square test and Pearson’s correlation were used to evaluate the relationship between variables. Results: Majority (57.2%) of the participants were between 21 and 25 years and of male gender (61.6%), with Hinduism being the most prevalent religious affiliation (88.4%). Most (71.7%) tested positive for COVID-19. A significant prevalence of stress, anxiety, and depression among HCWs. Significant associations were found between stress, anxiety, and factors such as living alone, working in emergency care, substance use, and associations between religious coping and emotional status. Conclusion: The study highlighted the psychological distress faced by HCWs during the COVID-19 pandemic and proposes that religious coping techniques may help their mental health amid emergencies. Promoting an integrated strategy that incorporates psychological and religious coping mechanisms may improve health-care personnel’s overall resilience and mental well-being in the face of future challenges.

Cerebral palsy is a neuromuscular disorder in which patients deal with dysfunction in motor coordination in addition to other problems like epilepsy. Due to disrupted motor functions, the oromotor coordination is also affected, leading to higher incidence of dental caries, which is also due to increased consumption of medications. This case report deals with the oral rehabilitation of a quadriplegic 14-year-old child with cerebral palsy, suffering from severe dental pain and who was treated under general anesthesia.

Complete edentulism is one of the most common problems encountered by geriatric individuals. With advanced aging, despite attempts made to retain natural dentition, loss of entire teeth is yet observed. For precise denture fabrication, a digital sensor device was used during the making procedure. The use of sensor device aided in better appreciation and more retentiveness of denture.

Purpose: To assess the long-term outcomes of choroidal detachments (CDs) in eyes following trabeculectomy. Methods: Retrospective comparative case series. Data of patients with CDs following trabeculectomy (5-year period) with or without cataract surgery with a minimum of 3 months of follow-up were included. Results: In total, 45 patients with CDs following trabeculectomy were included. The mean age was 63.27 ± 8.68 years, (M:F = 2:1); 29 of 45 eyes (64.4%) had a baseline IOP of >24 mm Hg. Patients had a median follow-up of 22.2 (IQR: 16.2–30.5) months. Further, 10 of 45 eyes (22.2%) had CDs following suture lysis. The median onset of choroidal detachment from the time of surgery was 16.0 (IQR: 11–36) days. The mean BCVA improved from 0.62 ± 0.28 to 0.24 ± 0.27 (P < 0.001) and mean IOP increased from 4.07 ± 2.66 to 11.20 ± 5.31 (P < 0.001) at last visit. The cumulative success rates were 76.4% (95% CI: 48.4–90.5) in POAG eyes and 79.3% (95% CI: 62.8–89.1) in PACG eyes (P = 0.547). Medical management was the mainstay in all patients. Four of 45 (8.88%) patients underwent subsequent choroidal drainage. Conclusion: Choroidal detachment following modern-day trabeculectomy has favorable long-term visual acuity and IOP outcomes. There was no difference in the long-term surgical success of trabeculectomy with choroidal detachments in primary angle-closure and open-angle glaucoma eyes. Long-term follow-up is essential to prevent chronic hypotony and trabeculectomy failure.

We report the early outcomes and describe an ab interno 21-G needle technique of sulcus placement of the Aurolab aqueous drainage implant (AADI) tube in nine pseudophakic eyes. IOP reduced from a preoperative mean (SD) of 28.33 (9.80) to 11.56 (2.65) mm Hg and the mean (SD) number of preoperative medications reduced from 3.0 (0.7) to 0.4 (0.9) at 3 months. There were no intraoperative complications noted. This technique of sulcus placement of the AADI tube is a precise technique of tube insertion. It may be an alternative to existing ab externo procedures of tube sulcus placement, limiting multiple blind entries.
