Context: Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of mortality and disability in the world and its prevalence is increasing. Aim: The aim of the study was to determine the effect of educational program on self-care behaviors of candidates for coronary artery angiography. Setting and Design: This study was a quasi-experimental interventional study conducted at Imam Hossein Hospital in Mehran/Ilam in 2018. Materials and Methods: One hundred and twenty-six candidates for coronary artery angiography were randomly divided into two groups of intervention and control and completed the Cardiac Patients Learning Needs Inventory. The intervention group was trained with cardiovascular care educational program after angiography. After 2 weeks, the questionnaire was completed again by both groups. Statistical Analysis Used: Data were analyzed using Kolmogorov–Smirnov test, t-test, and paired t-test using SPSS software version 18. Results: The educational needs of the subjects were measured in eight areas of self-care (introduction to the cardiac intensive care unit, anatomy and physiology, psychological factors, risk factors, pharmaceutical information, nutritional information, physical activity, and other information). Most of the samples had moderate-to-high educational need (intervention group = 3.46) and (control group = 3.86), and the educational need in intervention group reached 1.62, which was significant (P < 0.001), but there was no significant change (P = 0.871) in the control group (3.31). Conclusion: Promoting self-care behaviors in patients undergoing coronary angiography using educational interventions is important and necessary. The curriculum that is designed and used in this study is recommended as a sample.

Context: Given increasing number of older adults and the burden of care costs of them, improving the quality of life (QOL) of these people is one of the main targets of researchers in this field. Aims: This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of aerobic exercise on the dimensions of QOL among elderly females. Setting and Design: This semi experimental research with re-post test design conducted in Rehabilitation and Daily Care Center of Iran-Tabriz 2018. Materials and Methods: Sixty elderly females were selected based on criteria and divided via blocks randomization into intervention (N = 30) and control groups (N = 30). The intervention group participated in aerobic training for 8 weeks (24 sessions). Both groups were evaluated before and after intervention with QOL questionnaire (SF36). Statistical Analysis Used: Data were analyzed using SPSS-20 software through descriptive, Chi-Square, one-way, and multivariate covariance methods. Results: The QOL of majority of elderly women was low (78%). The mean score of QOL in the intervention group before intervention was 43.99 ± 4.4 and after intervention was 55.46 ± 4.62 (P = 0.001). In the control group, the mean score of QOL was 44.70 ± 4.51 before and 47.31 ± 4.37 after intervention (P = 0.41). Conclusion: Aerobic exercises have improved the QOL in all mental and physical aspects of women aged 60–70 years. Therefore, this easy and cost-effective intervention is beneficial for aged woman to promote QOL dimensions. It can be used as intervention to enhance QOL of aged peopled.

Background: Many causes can lead to childhood rickets. We aimed to investigate the biochemical symptoms of childhood rickets with systematic review and meta-analysis. Materials and Methods: Seven articles published from 1975 to 2018 were recruited. The literature search was performed in the Scientific Information Database, Google Scholar, PubMed, and Elsevier databases using related keywords. For meta-analysis, the results of the studies were pooled using the random-effects model. The heterogeneity between the studies was checked using Q test and I2 index. Results: The total sample population consisted of 933 children with biochemical symptoms of rickets (133 participants per article). According to our findings, the mean serum levels of PO4, Ca, and alkaline phosphatase in children with rickets were 4.18 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 3.75–4.61, I2 = 98.3%, P < 0.001), 9.23 (95% CI: 8.78–9.68, I2 = 99.6%, P < 0.001), and 1.33 (95% CI: 1.23–1.44, I2 = 95.6%, P < 0.001), respectively. Conclusion: Characterizing the biochemical symptoms of rickets in children can help to early diagnose and prevent the disease in children. Furthermore, educating parents about biochemical symptoms can lead to early diagnosis and successful treatment of rickets in children.
