Background: Vitamin B12 deficiency is widely prevalent in all age groups which is of major concern. However, there is no valid Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) for dietary vitamin B12 estimation. Hence, we aimed to develop and validate an FFQ for the estimation of dietary intake of Vitamin B12. Materials and Methods: Commonly consumed B12-rich food items were selected from literature and filtered using a market survey. For concordant and discriminant validation, B12 and homocysteine levels were estimated. To establish convergent validity, the Cobalamin Intake in North Indians by Food Frequency Questionnaire (COIN-FFQ) and 72-hour dietary recall (72HrDR) were both administered to the same subjects. The COIN-FFQ was readministered after initial administration for test-retest reliability. Internal consistency of the FFQ was then tested using Cronbach's alpha. Results: We enrolled 115 adults with a mean age and weight of 31.9 ± 8.7 years and 66.0 ± 11.8 kg, respectively. In total, 19.1% were vegetarian. The dietary B12 using COIN-FFQ (n = 60; mean = 4.3 ± 1.8 µg/d) was significantly correlated (r = 0.255; P = 0.049) with serum levels (mean = 120.1 ± 62.6 pmol/L) establishing concordant validity. A significant difference was noted between the dietary, serum B12, and homocysteine levels of vegetarians versus nonvegetarians establishing discriminant validity (mean diff 1.4 (0.5-2.4), P = 0.004; Z-statistic -2.182, P value 0.029, and Z-statistic -2.438; P value 0.015), respectively. FFQ was strongly correlated with 72HrDR and test--retest FFQ (n = 27; r = 0.814, P < 0.001 and r = 0.869, P < 0.001, respectively) establishing convergent validity and test--retest reliability. The internal consistency with Cronbach's alpha was in the acceptable range, 0.631 (n = 115). Conclusion: The newly developed COIN-FFQ is valid and reliable in estimating dietary B12 intake. Background and Aims: The quality of recovery (QoR)-40 score has been used worldwide and validated in many surgical cohorts to assess global patient recovery. We aim to translate and culturally adapt the QoR-40 score into Hindi and test the validity and reliability of the translated version in patients undergoing cancer surgery. Methods: The translation of the QoR-40 questionnaire was based on the forward and backward translation methods. Patients filled out the translated version of the QoR-40 preoperatively, on the third postoperative day in the morning (POD3) and the evening. The reliability of the translated questionnaire was checked for internal consistency, test-retest reliability and split-half reliability. Construct validity was assessed with a correlation coefficient value between the total QoR-40 score, visual analogue scale (VAS) for pain and total length of hospital stay. Content validity was evaluated for feasibility and understanding. Results: The questionnaire was completed by 350 patients. The correlation coefficient r for repeatability was 0.21, the split-half test was 0.92, and Cronbach's alpha was 0.82. The correlation between QoR-40 on POD3 with VAS score and length of stay was-0.35 and -0.67, respectively. The average time to complete the questionnaire was 3.8 minutes; 90% of the respondents found the translated questionnaire easy to understand, and 92% of the patients related the questions to their recovery. Conclusion: The Hindi translation of the QoR-40 questionnaire is a valid and reliable version of the original questionnaire in English to assess the QoR in Hindi-speaking patients after cancer surgery. Background: Ojus in Ayurveda refers to the unique functioning state of bodily tissues favoring survival and homeostasis. Functional decline in ojus (ojak?aya) is recognized in Ayurveda as a candidate causative factor for the incidence and progression of major psychiatric conditions (manasroga). Assessing the functional status of ojus shall predict the prognosis and its monitoring while intervention shall favor clinical decision-making across timelines. The characteristics of ojokshaya are reasonably detectable in current psychiatric clinical settings. However, the data collection strategies on ojus vary remarkably among physicians owing to its weightage for patient-reported subjective expressions. Subjective health status assessment-related data handling requires clinical expertise and validated tools. Aims: Thus, this study is committed to developing and validating a tool assessing the functional status of ojus in manasroga. The tool constructs are fairly developed based on patient-reported outcomes and need to be evaluated for their reliability and validity. Settings and Design: The work was conducted within the institute. The mixed methods study design was used. Subjects, Methods and Statistical Analysis: In phase one, the questionnaire was developed through literature review, expert evaluation, data from previous research works, focus group discussion for final consensus, and pretesting. The construct validity was established through principal component analysis/regression analysis. In phase two, the validity of the questionnaire after distinguished phases of the face (100 participants), content (six experts evaluation), and criterion (Pearson's correlation coefficient) sets; was obtained by conducting a cross-sectional survey on 82 participants. Cronbach's alpha value was used to assess the reliability of the questionnaire. Results: The 28-item questionnaire to assess ojus in manasaroga, named SOMA-Q, was developed. The results satisfied the tests for validity and reliability. Factor analysis was performed. The Cronbach's alpha value of the questionnaire was 0.897, suggesting a reasonable internal consistency. In split-half reliability testing, a significant decrease in reliability was noted for every item, and hence, no items were deleted from the questionnaire. Background and Aims: Obstetric quality of recovery score-11 (ObsQoR-11) was developed in English to evaluate the quality of recovery in the caesarean section. We aimed to validate the Hindi version of ObsQoR-11 (ObsQoR-11H) for Hindi-speaking patients to evaluate the quality of recovery following the elective caesarean section. Methods: The ObsQoR-11 was translated into Hindi and assessed for validity, acceptability and feasibility. The questionnaire was administered postoperatively at 24 and 48 hours, and the Global Health Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) was used to evaluate recovery. Results: The mean (standard deviation [SD]) (95% confidence interval [CI]) ObsQoR-11 H was 75.94 (4.09)(95% CI 75.1, 76.7) and 80.25 (4.08)(95% CI 79.5, 81) at 24 and 48 hours, respectively. The mean (SD) (95%CI) Global Health NRS scores were 71.22 (5.97)(95% CI 70, 72.4) and 77.37 (5.79)(95% CI 76.2, 78.5) at 24 and 48 hours, respectively. Convergent validity showed a strong correlation between ObsQoR-11H and Global Health NRS (Spearman's correlation coefficient [rs] >0.8 and 0.78) scores at 24 and 48 hours, respectively. Discriminant validity was significant in appreciating the difference between good and poor recovery (P < 0.001). Split-half coefficient of 0.69 and 0.65 and Cronbach's alpha (α) of 0.91 and 0.82 at 24 and 48 hours suggested good score reliability. The acceptability and feasibility of the score were also good. Conclusion: The ObsQoR-11H discriminated well between 'good' and 'poor' recovery and correlated strongly with Global Health NRS scores. Background: Since the establishment of the International Health Promotion Hospitals (HPH) in 2006, standards have been designed to evaluate this network. Based on the request of the General Assembly of HPH, the new standards have been revised in 2020 to be in harmony with the new global strategy of HPH for the years 2021-2025. The present study was conducted to translate the original version of the self-evaluation form of HPH and to determine its validity and reliability in Iranian society. Methods: The standard process of forward and backward translation was followed after that to determine the face validity of the Persian version of HPH standards, fifteen experts from ten hospitals in five major cities in Iran (Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan, Shiraz and Hamadan) gave their opinions about 86 standard statements based on a five-point Likert scale, and the impact score was calculated. For determining content validity, both the content validity ratio (CVR) and content validity index (CVI) were used. Results: All 86 standard statements of the five main standards had an impact score higher than 1.5. Also, regarding CVR, all 86 standard statements had a score higher than 0.49 (the minimum plausible score based on Lawshe's table). Finally, after calculating the CVI, all the standard statements had a CVI higher than 0.8, which indicated a very good content validity index for all the items. Introduction: In 2019, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) introduced the New Drugs and Clinical Trials Rules 2019 (NDCTR), which separated the research guidelines for "Clinical Trials" and "Biomedical and Health Research." As a result, guidelines issued by Indian Council of Medical Research were stated to apply to academic clinical trials (ACTs). This change is important because academic studies are crucial for scientific advancement and repurposing of approved drugs in health-care industry. However, conducting an ACT can pose challenges. We assessed the level of awareness, knowledge, and challenges faced by investigators. Our aim is to overcome some of these challenges and encourage more academic studies for the betterment of healthcare and scientific knowledge in India. Methodology: The study was conducted in two phases after obtaining approval from the Institutional Ethics Committee (EC) of three tertiary care hospitals in Mumbai. In the first phase, the number of ACTs was assessed from the clinical trial registry India website, while the number of registered and re-registered ECs were assessed from the CDSCO website. The second phase involved assessing investigator awareness and knowledge about ACTs using a prevalidated questionnaire with a content validity index score of 0.93. Results: In 2020, the highest numbers of studies were registered, with the highest numbers of registered and re-registered ECs from Maharashtra. All participants completed the questionnaire and were aware of the need to follow guidelines for clinical trials. Sixty-seven percent of participants knew that the guidelines for ACTs differed from those of sponsored clinical trials, but only 58% were aware of the exact definition of an ACT as per NDCTR, 2019. Eighty-five percent of participants knew who could initiate an ACT, but only 27% knew about the applicability of results of an ACT and 33% had in-depth knowledge about the required approvals, while only 10% knew the archival period. Although 71% of participants had knowledge about serious adverse event reporting, few answered in-depth questions correctly. Only 31 participants reported facing varied challenges. Background: Tobacco usage has been identified as a leading preventable cause of mortality and is responsible for six million fatalities per year globally. India had enacted COTPA in 2003. Tobacco vendors are one of the key stakeholders for Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) implementation. Objective: To assess the knowledge gap on COTPA and to explore the perceived factors influencing implementation of COTPA among tobacco vendors in Puducherry. Materials and Methods: A mixed-method study was conducted among tobacco vendors from Point of Sale (PoS) around 230 educational institutions (schools and degree colleges) in Puducherry for three months. Simple random sampling was applied to select educational institutions and the tobacco vendors from PoS located around these institutions were included. Data capture was done using a pretested, face-validated questionnaire incorporated in Epicollect software 5 and data analysis by SPSSv24. Purposive sampling was employed to conduct in-depth interviews among tobacco vendors till the point of saturation and manual content analysis performed. Written informed consents were sought. Institutional Ethical Committee approval was obtained. Results: Majority (95.7%) reported that they were aware of tobacco control legislation, but only one person had heard of COTPA. Awareness about the display of signage boards at PoS was observed in 75.7% vendors. Around 41.7% reported that they should not advertise any kind of tobacco products. Three major themes were identified: facilitators, barriers, and suggested measures for COTPA implementation. Conclusion: Tobacco vendors in Puducherry were aware of tobacco control legislations but not familiar with the COTPA and its provisions. Background: Students are a significant source of data for the evaluation of clinical instructors' performance. This study was undertaken with the aim of adaptation and validation of the Persian version of the Maastricht Clinical Teaching Questionnaire (MCTQ). The main objective of the researchers in this study was to evaluation the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Maastricht Clinical Training Questionnaire (P MCTQ) in Iran, considering cultural and social differences. Materials and Methods: This methodological study was conducted from 2019 to 2021 at four teaching hospitals affiliated with Sabzevar University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Qualitative and quantitative face and content validity, and construct validity methods were used for the validity evaluation. Stability and internal consistency methods were used, respectively, for the reliability evaluation of the questionnaire. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) stage, 264 students studying in the fields of nursing, midwifery, anesthesiology, operating room, emergency medicine, and laboratory sciences completed the P MCTQ. Results: The value of scale content validity index (0.92) is indicative of the overall content validity of the questionnaire. EFA extracted a single factor structure that could explain the overall variance of the clinical education structure at about 76.61%. The alfa and intraclass correlation values were equal to 0.98 and 0.82, respectively, indicating the excellent internal consistency and high overall stability of the questionnaire. Background: Organizational ethics focuses on the importance of how organizations behave when faced with specific situations and decisions. This study aims to identify and prioritize organizational ethics indicators in Imam Khomeini Hospital Complex (IKHC) in Iran. Materials and Methods: This was a mixed method research project. To recognize hospital ethics indicators, 18 semistructured interviews were conducted and 38 indicators were identified through thematic analysis. In the next stage, a quantitative approach was adopted to use the importance performance matrix for data analysis. This part was a descriptive survey with a statistical population consisting of nurses, medical, clinical, and administrative staff. The questionnaire was distributed using the random sampling method, and a total of 349 samples were collected. Results: Based on the interviews and open coding, 73 themes were identified for organizational ethics indicators and classified into two main groups: "ethics drivers in hospital" and "personal ethics." After measuring content validity, 35 indicators of organizational ethics in IKHC were examined in terms of importance and performance. The results showed that nine indicators had high importance and poor performance, 11 had high importance and performance, nine had low importance and performance, and finally six indicators had low importance and high performance, and according to these findings, practical suggestions were put forward. Conclusions: Based on the identified indices and by applying importance performance analysis, it is recommended to continually assess the status of ethics in hospitals and offer strategies for improving organizational ethics. Background: Disordered eating behaviors (DEBs) among persons with schizophrenia (PwS) have been reported widely in the literature, with very few studies in India. Robust tools to assess DEB are needed in the vernacular language to capture symptoms of disordered eating accurately. No such tools are available in the Tamil language. Globally, the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26) is widely used to assess DEB among PwS. Aim: This study aimed to translate and study the factor structure and reliability of EAT-26 among Tamil-speaking PwS. Materials and Methods: EAT-26 was translated into Tamil following the Oxford linguistic validation process. Experts evaluated its face validity and content validity. One hundred and fifty PwS, aged between 18 and 65 years, who attended the outpatient department of a psychiatric facility, and consented to participate, completed the Tamil version of EAT-26. Test-retest reliability of EAT-26 was assessed by readministering the tool to 30 PwS after two weeks. Data were analyzed using Stata 16.1. Internal consistency and test-retest reliability were computed using Cronbach's alpha and intraclass coefficients, respectively. The factor structure of EAT-26 was explored using principal component analysis (PCA). Spearman's rho was calculated to understand the correlation between the factors. Results: EAT-26 had an internal consistency of 0.71 and test-retest reliability of 0.896. Factor analysis revealed nine latent factors consisting of 21 of the original 26 items on EAT-26. These 21 items could explain a variance of 63.63%. Conclusions: The Tamil version of the EAT-26 is a reliable tool to assess DEB among Tamil-speaking PwS. Objective: The present study is an effort to standardize and establish the validity and reliability of objective structured practical examination (OSPE) as a formative assessment tool in biochemistry. Materials and Methods: After institutional ethical clearance, brainstorming was done to plan the logistics necessary for the standardization of OSPE in biochemistry at undergraduate level. An assessment blueprint was established, structured checklists for individual procedure stations along with the student's and examiners' instruction manuals were designed. Review and revision of the planned OSPE stations were done and the validity and reliability of the tool were established. The internal reliability of the OSPE stations was determined by calculating Cronbach's alpha from the mean scores obtained by the students in each station during the formative assessments. A pilot study was conducted on a group of 14 volunteer students to establish the homogeneity of the study. The content validity index (CVI) and the coefficient of reliability of the feedback questionnaire for faculty and students were calculated. Feedback taken from students and faculty was analyzed through the Satisfaction Index for 5-point Likert Scale questions and thematic analysis for open-ended questions. Results: Cronbach's alpha of the OSPE questions, during the four formative assessments in sessional examinations, showed high internal consistency of 0.832, 0.861, 0.796, and 0.845. Homogeneity was determined by a split-half estimate of pilot OSPE with Cronbach's alpha value of 0.9. The S-CVI/Ave scores for the students and faculty questionnaire were 0.86 and 0.91 respectively with the internal consistency of 0.83 and 0.89. Conclusions: OSPE is a valid and reliable assessment tool after standardization that provides a structured approach to assessment and can be used for formative assessments of medical undergraduate students in biochemistry. Background: The estimated prevalence of mental health disorders in children and adolescents is between 10% and 20%. Furthermore, a quarter of very premature infants exhibit socioemotional delays in infancy and childhood. The objective of this study was to determine the validity and reliability of Greenspan social-emotional growth chart (GSEGC) in Persian children aged 1-42 months. Materials and Methods: After translation procedures, the face validity, content validity, construct validity, test-retest reliability, and internal consistency of the GSEGC questionnaire were evaluated. The quality of translating items was obtained using the suggestions of the research group. The face validity of the GSEGC was performed by interviewing with 10 mothers in the target group. To evaluate content validity quantitatively, content validity ratio (CVR) and content validity index (CVI) were used after reviewing the face and content validity and pilot study, 264 parents of children aged 1-42 months completed the GSEGC questionnaire to assess the construct validity and internal consistency. In order to determine the test-retest reliability, after 2 weeks, 18 parents completed the questionnaire again. Results: Eleven questions were changed according to the interviews (questions 1-6, 9-11, and 15-16). The lowest CVR was related to items 30 and 20 (0.636), and other items had an acceptable CVR. The lowest CVI value was related to item 1 of clarity and simplicity (0.818), and other items had an acceptable CVI. Intra-class correlation coefficient was 0.988 for all items of questionnaire. Furthermore, Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.952 for all items. In factor analysis, two factors were extracted from the items in questionnaire. Conclusion: The Persian version of GSEGC questionnaire has acceptable face, content and, constructs validity, test-retest reliability and high internal consistency in the target population. Objective: This study was planned to examine the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Male Andropause Symptoms Self-Assessment Questionnaire (MASS-Q). Materials and Methods: One hundred and twenty-five men with a mean age of 54.24 ± 6.51 years participated in the study. First, participants' demographic data were recorded. Then, the MASS-Q was adapted to Turkish. The assess the reliability and validity of the Turkish MASS-Q, internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and criterion validity analyses were administered. For the reliability test, the scale was readministered 1 week later. Test-retest reliability was examined with the intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs). Internal consistency was defined by Cronbach's alpha. Regarding the validity analysis, content validity was determined according to expert opinions. For criterion validity, the Aging Male Symptoms-Questionnaire (AMS-Q) was used. Results: According to the results of the analysis, the ICC values between the test--retest scores of the total and subdimensions (sexual, somatic, psychic, and behavior) of the MASS-Q were found to be 0.987, 0.939, 0.973, 0.951, and 0.887, respectively (P < 0.05). Cronbach's alpha values of the total and subdimensions (sexual, somatic, psychic, and behavior) of the MASS-Q were calculated as 0.924, 0.870, 0.747, 0.865, and 0.667, respectively. According to the ICC values obtained, it was found that the MASS-Q had a high degree of reliability. According to the internal consistency results, the sexual and psychic subdimensions were found to be quite reliable, whereas the somatic and behavioral subdimensions were found to be sufficiently reliable. According to the criterion validity results, a very high and high correlations were found between the AMS-Q scores and the MASS-Q scores (r = 0.636--0.938, P = 0.001). Background: Disrespect and abuse during childbirth is regarded as harassment of women and a violation of their rights. The aim of this study was to assess the psychometric properties of the disrespect and abuse questionnaire in Iranian parturient women. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 265 postpartum women in both private and public hospitals in Tabriz, Iran. The scale was translated from English into Farsi. In the quantitative face validity, the impact score was determined for each item. Moreover, in the quantitative content validity, the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and Content Validity Index (CVI) were assessed based on the comments of experts on the relevance, clarity, and simplicity of items (CVI) and the necessity of items (CVR). Construct validity was assessed through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Results: In the face validity assessment, all items received a minimum impact score of 1.5. In assessing the content validity, all the items attained the minimum acceptable value of CVR (>0.69) and CVI (>0.79). According to the exploratory factor analysis, the Disrespect and Abuse Questionnaire has 23 items and five factors, including abandoning the mother, improper care, mother's immobility, not talking to the mother, and mother's deprivation. The construct validity of the scale was confirmed by the confirmatory factor analysis, in which X2/df <5 and root mean square error of approximation <0.08. Conclusions: The Farsi version of the disrespect and abuse questionnaire can be used as a valid tool for assessing instances of lack of respectful maternity care in the postpartum period. Background: National legislation (COTPA) in India has focused on school children with dedicated section (6a and 6b) for tobacco control at Educational Institutions. Innovative mediums like Comic offer unique and engaging medium for dissemination of health information. However, its true potential remains unexplored in tobacco control. The study was conducted to develop and validate Comic for promotion of tobacco control laws in school settings. Materials and Methods: The present cross-sectional study was conducted among school teachers in Delhi in three phases: (1) need assessment, (2) development of Comic, and (3) validation (face/content validity by experts in public health/tobacco control, and construct validity by school teachers). Ethical clearance was obtained from Institutional Ethical Review Board. Prevalidated, structured, close-ended, and self-administered Questionnaire was used for the data collection. SPSS version 21 was used for descriptive and inferential results. Results: Phase 1 showed, out of 150 school teachers, 121 participated (80.66%). Mean age and teaching experience was 41.85 ± 9.76 years and 10.35 ± 6.53 years, respectively. Overall awareness about COTPA was 47.9% (n = 58) and COTPA sections 4 and 6 were 37.2% (n = 45). Majority 59.5% (n = 72) reported lack of access to training material. Phase 2 and 3 showed overall content validity index (CVI) score of 0.84. Construct validity evaluation from pre–postintervention yield mean ± SD scores of 3.94 ± 0.99 and 7.97 ± 1.17, respectively, (P < 0.001). Conclusion: Comic was developed on sound theoretical basis with satisfactory face, content and construct validity, to raise awareness about tobacco control among school children, and teachers to promote tobacco-free school. Background: According to the importance of physical activity in the child's physical and mental development and cognitive health, developing a valid, reliable, and comprehensive assessment tool for children's physical activity is mandated. The purpose of this study is the translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and validation of the Persian version of the Thailand Physical Activity Children Survey questionnaire to measure the level of physical activity in children aged between 6-9 years in Iran. Methods: This study consisted of three stages, first, the questionnaire translation into Persian language and modification of the sections according to the Iranian culture, then the evaluation of the questionnaire via a pilot study, and finally, assessing the reliability and validity of the tool. Participants of the pilot study were 250 healthy children, aged 6 to 9 years, meeting eligibility criteria, recruited through a stratified cluster sampling method from schools across Tehran. Results: The Persian version of the questionnaire demonstrated an acceptable content validity (Content Validity Index between 0.88-1). The test-retest reliability reported the Intra-Class Correlation coefficient in the acceptable range in all sections (between 0.71-1). Cronbach's alpha was reported 0.993, which indicated excellent internal consistency. Conclusions: According to the acceptable validity and reliability of the Persian version of the Thailand Physical Activity Children Survey for children aged 6-9 years, it is recommended in research and surveillance studies to determine the level of physical activity of children of that age group in Iran. Background: Road traffic injuries are among the main causes of mortality in adolescents. The aim of this study was to determine the psychometric properties of an adjusted adolescent pedestrian behavior questionnaire (APBQ). Materials and Methods: Using the 29-item self-report pedestrian behavior questionnaire designed by Sadeghi-Bazargani et al. for all age groups as the framework, some of the items were removed depending on the type of behaviors among adolescents and some new questions were added. Eventually, the primary questionnaire was developed with 26 items, including 19 questions from Sadeghi-Bazargani et al.'s questionnaire and seven new questions. The tool was adjusted for adolescents and the psychometric properties were determined among a randomly selected group of 300 Junior high school students in Rasht City, Iran. After determining face validity, content validity and construct validity of the tool by experts, the reliability of the tool was examined based on explorative factor analysis (EFA) with Promax rotation and confirmatory factor analysis in AMOS. Eventually, a self-report questionnaire with 14 items was developed to assess the self-report behavior of adolescent pedestrians. Results: The mean age of the participants was 13.59 (±0.92) years. The Kasier-Meyer-Olkin value was 0.828, which confirmed the EFA. The analysis by the maximum likelihood method with Promax rotation identified four factors with eigenvalues >1 and factor loading =0.5. Therefore, pedestrian behaviors were categorized into four groups (unsafe road crossing behavior, distraction, positive behavior, and playing on the road). Introduction: The Menopause-specific Quality of Life (MENQOL) questionnaire was developed in 1996 to assess the health-related quality of life (QOL) in the menopausal transition and it addresses the degree to which menopausal symptoms had bothered women. The objective of this study was to translate the MENQOL questionnaire in the Odia- regional language of India and validate it for usage in the Odia-speaking menopausal women. Methods: The original English questionnaire MENQOL with 1-month recall period was translated by the researchers. According to instructions by Mapi Research Trust, the questionnaire was forward and backward translated, followed by participant testing and proofreading. Validity and reliability were evaluated by the following tests: internal consistency (reliability), stability (test-retest reliability) with Cronbach's alpha correlations, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and content validity index. Results: A total of 80 postmenopausal women participated in the study. The ICC score and Cronbach's alpha value of all the four domains such as vasomotor, psychosocial, physical, and sexual of both MENQOL English and Odia (MENQOL-E and MENQOL-O) versions recommended excellent homogeneity. The internal consistency using the Cronbach's alpha showed high reliability (0.993) between the MENQOL-E and MENQOL-O questionnaires. Conclusion: The MENQOL-O questionnaire will be used at the individual to community health-care settings to measure QOL and those identified with lower menopause-related QOL, they may get support and care. Introduction: Irony comprehension (IC) has been described as a schizophrenia (SCZ) disease marker. High variability exists in the measurement of IC. We aimed to assess content and “known-groups” validity of an Indian, comic-based, computerized-IC task. Methods: A 15-story IC task was prepared. Content validity of the IC task stimuli was assessed by experts in mental health. Performance on the IC task was compared between 15 SCZ patients and 15 healthy controls (HC). Known-groups validity was assessed using discriminant function analysis. Results: Content validity of the IC task was optimum. Lower number of correct responses and longer reaction times for irony stimuli were seen in SCZ patients, compared to HC. Both these measures showed 100% accuracy in discriminating SCZ from HC, therefore, implying excellent “known-groups” validity. Introduction: Simulations are useful and can mirror the situations needed for skills development. They can have significant impacts on patient safety and help physicians gain proficiency in complex procedures with a short learning curve. They have been validated as an assessment tool and can utilize innovative machines or platforms. Here, we evaluate the construct validity and the performance of residents with different levels using UroLift (NeoTract) simulation. Methods: This was a prospective observational study. Two groups of trainees were distributed according to their training level: junior residents and senior residents. Each had to finish three cases of varying difficulties. The data were first tested with the Shapiro–Wilk normality test. Construct validity used an independent sample t-test; P < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: Significant differences were seen in performance among junior residents and senior residents in the following skills: proximal centering, mucosal abrasion, and implants in proximal zones. However, insignificant results were seen for number of deployments, successful deployments, lateral suture centering, and implants in the distal zones. Conclusion: UroLift simulations are useful for training as a practicing tool. Objective: To develop and validate a comprehensive questionnaire to evaluate risk factors, perceptions, and practices for weight management in women at menopausal transition and early menopause stage. Methodology: A mixed-method study was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, the questionnaire was developed by literature review and focused group discussions with the target population and experts. In the second phase, content and face validity were established by expert evaluation and cognitive interviews with the target population. The developed questionnaire was crosssectionally administered in 215 women and responses were used to determine the construct validity by factor analysis and reliability by evaluating internal consistency. Results: The finalized questionnaire consisted of two sections; section A included sociodemographic characteristics, anthropometric measures, and menopausal status with symptom severity, while section B contained 32-items focusing on readiness to initiate weight loss, perceptions and practices related to lifestyle behaviors, built environment, and social support. The Cronbach's α value of the questionnaire is 0.79 with good internal consistency. Conclusion: The developed questionnaire is a valid and reliable tool to assess weight-related risk factors, perceptions, and practices in middle-aged women, which can potentially be used by doctors and other healthcare practitioners to customize weight management advice in women at menopausal transition and early menopause. Context: COVID-19 has led to a spate of rhino-orbital-cerebral mucormycosis cases in India, the epidemiology of which was least understood before. Only a few case series and case reports discuss the symptomatology of mucormycosis. Aims: The primary objective of our study was to estimate the prevalence of pain in patients with mucormycosis. The secondary objectives include the type, regional distribution, characteristics and determinants of pain in patients with mucormycosis. Settings and Design: A cross-sectional study was conducted on consecutive adult patients with mucormycosis in our hospital. Materials and Methods: Following recruitment, a preplanned written questionnaire that was tested for validity with peers, with closed-ended queries was filled on a sole visit by an anesthesia postgraduate based on the response by the patient. Statistical analysis used: Categorical variables were summarized as proportion and percentage. To compare quantitative variables, Chi-square test was used. Results: A total of 69 out of the 80 patients recruited complained of pain (P value = 0.468). A total of 76.8% of patients had pain in the supraorbital region with 84% of the patients complaining of throbbing pain and 98.6% needing analgesics. Gender, pre-existing diabetes mellitus, organs affected due to mucormycosis, prior steroid usage, prior COVID illness, surgical intervention, and previous experience of pain in the same region had no influence on the presence or severity of pain. Conclusions: Pain is one of the presenting symptoms in patients with mucormycosis which is usually in the supraorbital and maxillary region, nociceptive type and throbbing in nature, and moderate to severe in intensity usually managed with simple analgesics. Objective: The need to assess oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) has grown increasingly in the healthcare sector over the past few decades. The Dental Impact on Daily Living (DIDL) assessment is a tool created to measure OHRQoL. The aim of this study was to complete a cross-cultural adaptation of the DIDL to yield a valid and reliable Indonesian version for use as an official instrument to assist in further OHRQoL research in Indonesia. Materials and Methods: The original English version of the DIDL was translated and validated. Content validity and face validity were considered. Psychometric testing for test–retest reliability was analyzed among 32 subjects, while internal consistency using Cronbach's alpha and clinical oral health status using the DMF-T index to obtain convergent validity of the questionnaire were checked among 278 subjects. Results: The study subjects showed a good understanding of how to complete the Indonesian language version of the DIDL questionnaire, and conceptual and semantic equivalence (content and face validity) were noted. Further, test–retest reliability was noted (intraclass correlation coefficient range: 0.975–1 and Cronbach's alpha: 0.942), whereas convergent validity suggested a correlation between DMF-T and DIDL questionnaire of −0.502 with significance at alpha of 5% (P = 0.00), which means that decreasing the DMF-T outcome will increase the satisfaction using the DIDL among research subjects. Conclusion: Cross-cultural adaptation of the DIDL yielded a valid and reliable Indonesian version. Aims: Given the dearth of research about middle-aged people's ability to seek online health information in developing countries, this study was conducted to develop the Online Health Information-Seeking Skill Scale (OHI-SSS) and evaluate its psychometric properties. Materials and Methods: This is a methodological study in which a scale was developed within three factors and was validated by face validity, content validity, and structural validity methods. Four hundred and twenty middle-aged individuals completed the questionnaires. Internal consistency and test–retest were used to evaluate the reliability of the scale. Finding: The initial scale, consisting of 38 items on a 5-point Likert scale, was reduced to a 26-item scale following face and content validity measurement. The exploratory factor analysis extracted three subscales in OHIO-SSS that includes "information reception," "provide and exchange information, and "identification and trust." Internal consistency of the scale was confirmed by Cronbach's alpha coefficient (0.93). Cronbach's alpha coefficient for subscales was 0.87, 0.795, and 0.74, respectively. Reliability analysis with test–retest revealed an acceptable estimate for the total score (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.92). Conclusion: The 20-item OHI-SSS has acceptable validity and reliability. Introduction: Ayurveda has a unique way of understanding the body, health, and diseases. Various determinants, including biological, ecological, medical, psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, and metaphysical factors, which depend on each other, have their role in determining health in Ayurveda. Currently, no validated health assessment scale, based on the principles of Ayurveda is available. This article, for the first time, reports the development, validation, and reliability testing of the Swasthya assessment scale ‑ a health assessment tool developed in Ayurveda. Materials and methods: A thorough literature search and expert consultations were done to draft the items encompassing the concept of health in Ayurveda. A group of experts assessed the content validity of the drafted items. Cognitive de‑briefing and pretesting were performed to modify the language and the content again. Reliability testing was done with an inter‑observer agreement in a sample of 183 individuals. Results: The content validity index for items and the scale‑level content validity index (S‑CVI) were calculated. S‑CVI forscale was excellent, with 85% agreement. The S‑CVI/universal agreement was 0.45, and S‑CVI/Average was 0.95. In inter‑rater reliability, the percentage agreement was 73.7%. Pearson correlation coefficient was 0.808 showing a strong correlation. Conclusion: Following appropriate validation, the scale can be widely used in clinical practice to assess the patient’s health status, guide the treatment plans, and monitor the progress of the health. Background: There is no validated measurement tool to assess vaginal symptoms (VS), sexual matter (SS), and quality of life (QOL) among Persian-speaking women. This study aimed at translating and assessing the validity and reliability of the Persian version of the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire for Vaginal Symptoms (PICIQ-VS). Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, after obtaining permission from the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire (ICIQ) Advisory Board, the English version of ICIQ-VS was translated into Persian per a standard translate and back translate process, and the validity and reliability were studied. Two hundred women with and without pelvic organ prolapse were asked to complete the PICIQ-VS (mean age: 52.1, range: 22-84 years). A panel of 10 experts evaluated the content and face validity of the questionnaire. Cronbach's alpha examined the internal consistency reliability of the measure. To evaluate the test-retest reliability, we redistributed the questionnaire among 30 patients 2 weeks after their initial visit using intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC). Results: Content and face validity of the questionnaire was confirmed after some light modification (content validity ratio ranged from 0.69 to 1.00, and content validity index ranged from 0.79 to 1.00). PICIQ-VS showed an acceptable internal consistency and stability reliability (VS: α = 0.64, ICC = 0.84; SM: α = 0.69, ICC = 0.88; and total scale: α = 0.72, ICC = 0.91, respectively). Significant differences were observed between the asymptomatic and symptomatic groups for VS and the total score (P < 0.05). Conclusion: In the light of the results, interestingly, PICIQ-VS could be utilized as a valid and reliable tool to assess the VS among Persian-speaking women, both in research and clinical practice. Introduction: Sri Guru Granth Sahib (SGGS) or Adi Granth is the main Sikh scripture. The SGGS promote principles of liberty and impartiality to pursue the way to the Guru following the path of peace and prosperity. The Sikh code of conduct is known as Sikh Rehat Maryada. The code is an outline of the mandates of daily routine followed by every Sikh. It stipulates philosophy and mandates, according to the teachings of Sikhism's 10 gurus. The studies show the relationship between SGGS and Yoga. In SGGS the first phrase, the Mool mantra, starts with the idiom, Ek Onkar (AUM). The primary goal of SGGS is to achieve union with God by constantly remembering God's name. Practice is oriented around three "golden rules." Guru Nanak also hinted in his hymns about these chakras. Guru had talked about the Naval Lotus. In the heart (with the blooming of lotus), he has seen the Lord whose knowledge is spoken of as unfathomable. The way of the blooming of this lotus is described by Guru Nanak by saying that when with the help of "Guru-Sabad," the heart lotus blooms and fills with nectar which makes one contented. The need of the conceptual frame arises due to lack of scientific understanding of SGGS. Methodology: Scale development is a systematic process that is carried out at different stages of analysis. Following recommendations of DeVellis RF and Pasqual Lscale development for the present study was accomplished in three stages namely item generation, theoretical analysis, and psychometric analysis the 30 items developed after content validity testing and cognitive interviews with select respondents. Background: No instrument specifically designed to investigate the caring self-efficacy of nurses in pediatric wards was found. The aim of the present study was therefore to develop a scale to evaluate pediatric wards nurse's caring self-efficacy. Materials and Methods: In this study, an exploratory, sequential, mixed method was used in 2015 in Iran. Data collected from 27 semi-structured interviews with nurses in pediatric wards were analyzed using conventional content analysis. The initial version of the scale was obtained with 65 items. Face validity was determined using impact score and content validity using the Content Validity Index (CVI) and Content Validity Ratio (CVR). The construct validity of the scale was investigated using exploratory factor analysis with 305 nurses in pediatric wards. The concurrent validity of the scale was acquired using the General Self-Efficacy Scale. Internal consistency and test--retest reliability were also examined. Results: The scale-CVI (S-CVI) (average) was 0.85. The 14 items with a CVR and CVI of less than 0.51 and 0.70, respectively, were deleted and the final 51-item scale was approved. All 51 items had good impact score (>1.50). In the final scale, four subscales were extracted using construct validity. The concurrent validity of the scale was also obtained (r = 0.77, p < 0.001). The total Cronbach-s α correlation coefficient of the scale was 0.96 and test--retest reliability was 0.98. Conclusions: The Pediatric Ward Nurses' Caring Self-Efficacy (PWNCSE) scale developed in this study is a practical, reliable, and valid scale to evaluate pediatric ward nurses' caring self-efficacy. Background and Aims: Regional anaesthesia techniques are a part of perioperative medicine that affects both perioperative and long-term outcomes. We have a paucity of the data on the usage and practices of plexus and peripheral nerve blocks (PNBs). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first effort to validate a survey for plexus and PNBs. Subsequently, this questionnaire could be used for the survey to look for the trends and disparities in PNB practices and further to develop a national registry in the future. Methods: Thirty questions were prepared after evidence-based search and reviewed by experts for suggestions. Changes were done and the questionnaire with the grading sheet was sent to 19 experts. The responses were analysed to calculate the content validity index (CVI) item-wise (I-CVI), scale-wise (S-CVI), and modified kappa statistics. The I-CVI of 0.78 and an S-CVI/average of 0.90 was taken as acceptable with more than six experts. Results: Fourteen experts out of 19 assessed and graded the questions as per the provided sheet and submitted suggestions through the mail. Question reframing, option reconsideration, and change from single to multiple choices were incorporated as per the suggestions of the experts. Mean I-CVI for relevance, simplicity, clarity, and ambiguity was 0.99, 0.98, 0.98, and 0.99, respectively. S-CVI/average was 0.98, 0.97, 0.98, and 0.99 for relevance, simplicity, clarity, and ambiguity, respectively. Background: Anticoagulation management is a complex process that is managed through careful monitoring, and patient satisfaction has a significant impact. Given the lack of a valid and reliable tool in Arabic to examine patient satisfaction, the present study aimed to translate and examine some of the psychometric properties of the Anti-Clot Treatment Scale (ACTS) among Saudi patients. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional, methodological study conducted among patients receiving warfarin. The questionnaire was subjected to translation by using a multistep method. The final Arabic translated version of the ACTS underwent face and content validity assessments by independent experts to ensure its conceptual equivalence to the original English version. Subsequently, pilot testing of convergent, discriminant, and criterion validities were examined. Results: Overall, 136 patients participated in the study. All patients were asked to complete the generic Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire for Medication (TSQM) alongside the ACTS tool. Convergent validity analyses revealed statistically significant positive correlations (p < 0.01) between the ACTS subscales and the four TSQM subdomains, as reflected by the Spearman correlation coefficient (r). Interestingly, the strongest correlations were observed between ACTS Burdens and the TSQM convenience domain (r = 0.61) and between ACTS Benefits and the TSQM effectiveness satisfaction score (r = 0.58). Similarly, discriminant validity was evidenced by moderate to high significant loading of all 12 items on each of their corresponding ACTS subscales. Conclusion: These findings of adequate validity support the use of the ACTS in Saudi patients receiving anticoagulant medications to measure their specific satisfaction levels with this type of therapy. Backgrounds: Fear of compassion is one of the psychological variables in the nursing profession that can be a barrier to providing appropriate services to patients. This research was done in order to assess psychometric properties, construct validity, reliability of fear of compassion scales and to introduce suitable measures for experts and researchers in the healthcare-related fields. Materials and Methods: In this study, 216 nurses (117 males and 99 females) were chosen with a multistage cluster sampling method between June 2016 and Feb 2017. Lisrel-8 and SSPS-18 were used for data analysis. The construct validity of the fear of compassion scales was assessed using confirmatory factor analysis. To assess the divergent and convergent validity of the fear of compassion scales, the compassion for others, depression, anxiety, stress, burnout, and cognitive emotion regulation questionnaires were used. Results: The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed that the single-factor model of fear of compassion scales (for others, from others, and for self) is a better fit to the data. Furthermore, these three scales had a positive and significant correlation with anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, and unhealthy cognitive-emotion regulation strategies, and negative and significant correlation with compassion for others and healthy cognitive-emotion regulation strategies. In addition, the Cronbach's alpha coefficient for fear of expressing compassion to others was 0.85, and 0.95 and 0.96 for fear of responding to compassion from others and fear of self-compassion, respectively. Background: This study was carried out to design and validate a questionnaire to measure the majority of factors influencing food choices among adults in Iran. Methods: A sequential exploratory mixed-method approach was applied to develop the initial item pool of the Food Choice Determinants Questionnaire (FCDQ) starting with a qualitative study to explore the food choice dimensions and its components. Designing the initial questionnaire using these dimensions and the 36-item Food Choice Questionnaire (FCQ) was then performed. The face, content, and construct validity were also assessed. The construct validity of the questionnaire was assessed using the exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Cronbach's alpha was applied for each main theme to examine the internal consistency. Results: After content and face validity process, a 60-item FCDQ was developed with total items' content validity index (CVI) of 0.69 indicating a reasonable level. The Cronbach's alpha coefficients for each of the six constructs in the scale have shown satisfactory internal consistency. Background: The precise measurement of childbirth satisfaction demands a reliable tool specifically designed for maternal care and birth satisfaction. It was designed to measure the degree of women's satisfaction with childbirth. The purpose of the present study was to translate and analyze the psychometric properties of the Birth Satisfaction Scale-Revised (BSS-R) in Iranian women. Materials and Methods: This is a methodological cross-sectional study. Five health centers in various regions of Kashan were affiliated to Kashan University of Medical Sciences, Kashan, Iran. Two hundred and twelve mothers who were referred to the health centers and had childbirth during the last year were included. The face and content validity were obtained after backward-forward translation of the Iranian version of BSS-R by 12 faculty board members in midwifery and reproductive health fields. The construct validity of the tool was determined using confirmatory factor analysis on 212 women in the postpartum period. The internal consistency and reliability of the tool was evaluated by Cronbach's alpha coefficient and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). The collected data were analyzed in SPSS (version 16.0) and EQS 6.1. Results: The result of face and content validity was minor modifications in some words. Confirmatory analysis results indicated that there was an acceptable fit with a three-factor model. Cronbach's alpha was estimated for the whole tool 0.74, and the alpha of the three subscales ranged from 0.698 to 0.801. ICC for determining reliability was 0.77. Background: There are no proper tools for measuring pregnancy-specific stress in Iranian population. The aim of this study was psychometric evaluation of the Persian version of Revised Prenatal Distress Questionnaire (NuPDQ) for the first time in Iranian society. Materials and Methods: In a descriptive-analytic study, 269 pregnant women completed the NUPDQ at Obstetrics clinics of Mazanderan Province, Iran. The reliability of the 12-item NuPDQ and 17-item NuPDQ was reevaluated using Cronbach's alpha and internal consistency. Concurrent validity was assessed using the Spielberger state-anxiety Inventory. Moreover, exploratory factor analysis was used to assess the structural factors of the questionnaire. Results: Factor analysis revealed that the 12-item NuPDQ consisted of four areas in the second trimester including medical and financial problem, physical symptoms, infant health, and parenting with the explained variance of 64.15%. The Persian version of 17-item NuPDQ consisted of 5 areas in the third trimester, including medical and financial problems, physical symptoms, infant health, parenting, and labor and delivery with an explained variance of 61.94%. In addition, interclass correlation coefficient in all 4 areas and overall scale score exceeded 0.90. Finally, the reliability was high based on Cronbach's alpha of 0.78 for 12-item NuPDQ and 0.79 for 17-item NuPDQ. Conclusions: The Persian version of 12-item NuPDQ in the second trimester and 17-item NuPDQ in the third trimester, as well as all the extracted subscales, had a good validity and reliability for assessing pregnancy specific stress in Iranian society and can be used in clinical practice. Background and Aim: The current trend for determining the effectiveness of new treatment or services provided for diabetes mellitus (DM) patients is based on assessing the improvement in both glycemic control and the patient quality of life. Many scales have been developed to assess quality of life among DM patients, but unfortunately, no one can be considered as gold standard. Therefore, this study aimed to develop and validate a brief and specific scale to assess quality of life among Iraqi type 2 DM patients. Methods: An extensive literature review was done using Google-Scholar and PubMed to find out scales that utilized to assess quality of life among DM patients. Four relevant scales, three diabetes specific and one general, were selected. The selected scales were carefully evaluated to find out domains that are commonly used to assess quality of life and then the items within the selected domains were reviewed to choose relevant and comprehensive items for Iraqi type 2 DM patients. Ten items were selected to formulate the quality of life scale for Iraqi DM patients (QOLSID). The content validity of QOLSID was established via an expert panel. For concurrent validity QOLSID was compared to glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1C). For psychometric evaluation, a cross sectional study for 103 type 2 DM patients was conducted at the National Diabetes Center, Iraq. Test-retest reliability was measured by re-administering QOLSID to 20 patients 2-4 weeks later. Results: The internal consistency of the QOLSID was 0.727. All items had a corrected total-item correlation above 0.2. There was a negative significant correlation between QOLSID score and the HbA1C level (-0.518, P = 0.000). A significant positive correlation was obtained after re-testing (0.967, P = 0.000). Conclusion: The QOLSID is a reliable and valid instrument that can be used for assessing quality of life among Iraqi type 2 DM patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

OBJECTIVES: This study was carried out as a methodological study to adapt the stressor scale for emergency nurses to Turkish and to test its validity and reliability. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Data were collected between April 2019 and December 2019 from 250 emergency nurses working in the emergency department of two different universities and two state hospitals. The scale was reapplied to 40 emergency nurses from the sample group 3 weeks after the first application. For the validity studies of the scale, language validity, content validity, and construct validity studies were used, and for the reliability studies, internal consistency and test-retest reliability methods were used. RESULTS: It was found that the content validity index of the final form was determined as 0.92 (0.78-1.00) according to expert opinions, the scale explained 69.19% of the total variance in four subdimensions, the Cronbach's alpha value was 0.90, and the test-retest intraclass correlation coefficient value was 0.97. Background: Designing cancer prevention programs needs information on knowledge, attitude, and practice of the community. Unfortunately, this information is not available in Iran. Materials and Methods: We developed a questionnaire (NUTCANKAPQ) to assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice of Iranian women regarding cancer prevention dietary habits. We recruited women who had referred to public health-care centers in Tehran, Iran. To assess validity, we applied face, content, and construct validity methods. We performed test--retest approaches to assess reliability, and internal consistency of the questionnaire was assessed through Cronbach's alpha and intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs). Results: Qualitative content validity was carried out by an expert panel, and internal consistency was deemed satisfactory (Cronbach's alpha, >0.6). We also observed high reliability in the questionnaire (ICC = 0.85). The mean (± standard deviation) scores for knowledge, attitude, and practice of study participants were 28.3 (±14.1), 67.1 (±18.9), and 53.7 (±8.3), respectively. The result of exploratory factor analysis, Kaiser--Meyer--Olkin (KMO), implied that the model was reasonably fit (KMO > 0.6). The final questionnaire included seventy items. Conclusion: NUTCANKAPQ is a valid and reliable tool for the assessment of cancer-related nutrition knowledge, attitude, and practice among the Iranian population. Background: Risk assessment (RA) for mass gathering events is crucial to identify potential health hazards. It aids in planning and response activities specific to the event but is often overlooked by the event organizers. This paper reports the content validity process of a newly developed tool called Mass Gathering Risk Assessment Tool (MGRAT), which intends to assess the risks associated with religious mass gathering events in Indian settings. Methods: Qualitative approach was followed to identify the risks associated with mass gathering events and to identify the domains and items to be included in the RA tool. The draft tool was shared with six experts who were selected by the convenient method; selected experts were requested to assess the tool and give their comments about the domains, items, relevant responses, and overall presentation of the tool using content validity questionnaire. Content validity index and Fleiss kappa statistics were calculated to assess the agreement between multiple raters. Results: Agreement proportion expressed as scale-level content validity index (S-CVI) calculated by the averaging method is 0.92. S-CVI; calculated by universal agreement is 0.78. Fleiss kappa statistics to measure the agreement between multiple experts after adjusting the component of the chance agreement is 0.522 (95% CI: 0.417, 0.628, P value: 0.001). Conclusion: MGRAT is a valid tool, which has an appropriate level of content validity. As the number of raters increases, there will be difficulty in achieving consensus among all the items, which is the reason for lower Content Validity Index/Universal Average (CVI/UA) when compared with Content Validity Index/Average (CVI/Ave). Background: This study is to evaluate swallowing problems (dysphasia) in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients; the importance of using tools that are durable and appropriate is well understood. One of the most trusted tools is the dysphagia in multiple sclerosis (DYMUS) test. The aim of this study was to prepare a Persian version and to evaluate the validity and reliability of the test. Materials and Methods: This methodological study was conducted on 236 MS patients in Southeast of Iran from August 2015 to February 2016. After translation and cultural adaptation of the test in Persian, the validity of this test was determined using expert opinions accordance with the International Quality of Life Assessment Project. In addition, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was performed with varimax rotation. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted and the goodness of fit indices was calculated. Moreover, to test the reliability, Cronbach's alpha coefficient and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) were used. Results: In total, 236 MS patients were included in the study (81 males and 155 females). All the questions in the test's Persian version obtained an acceptable face and content validity (content validity ratio = 1, Scale content validity index/Ave = 1). EFA revealed that the scale has two factors (solid-liquid) with 67.5% cumulative variance. CFA indicated a good fit to the intended two-factor structure, and the ratio of Chi-square to the degree of freedom was 1.79, and the root mean square error of approximation was 0.058. The internal consistency of total test indicated the appropriate level (Cronbach's alpha coefficient = 0.775), and test-retest reliability total questionnaire was found to be ICC = 0.985, indicating its high reliability. Background and Aims: Perioperative fasting guidelines have been published and updated to standardise practices. Hence, Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists decided to conduct a survey to assess the fasting practices and the food habits across India, which would be subsequently used for developing preoperative fasting guidelines for the Indian population. We detail and discuss herewith the content validity of the questionnaire developed for the survey. Methods: Thirty-six questions related to perioperative fasting practices were framed based on the collected evidence and relevance to regional diet and concerns. Subsequently, an information sheet was prepared and sent to 10 experts to grade each question. The responses were tabulated, and item-wise content validity index (I-CVI), scale-wise content validity index (S-CVI) and modified kappa statistic were calculated in Microsoft Excel™ sheet. Results: Seven of the 10 experts completed the assessment and grading as per the instructions provided and submitted a completed proforma. S-CVI for relevance, simplicity, clarity and ambiguity was 0.72, 0.86, 0.72 and 0.72, respectively. S-CVI/average or average congruency percentagewas 0.95, 0.97, 0.95 and 0.95 for relevance, simplicity, clarity and ambiguity, respectively. Question 2 received an I-CVI of 0.71 in terms of clarity and question 23 received an I-CVI of 0.71. They were modified as persuggestions of the experts. Conclusion: We conclude that our questionnaire designed to ascertain the preoperative fasting practices for a surveymet the content validity criteria both by qualitative and quantitative analyses. Background: Fatigue is a common symptom in office workers. The purpose of this study was to assess the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Multidimensional Assessment of Fatigue (P-MAF) scale and its association with productivity among Iranian office workers. Methods: In order to validate the MAF scale, using "forward-backward" translation, cognitive debriefing, and cultural adaptation procedure, the English version of the MAF was translated into Farsi. A total of 129 Iranian office workers with at least 1-year job experience were included in the study. The Persian version of the Health and Work Questionnaire was used for assessment of the productivity in the participants. Results: Internal consistency for all subscales of the P-MAF scale was acceptable (α ≥ 0.854). The correlation of convergent validity and the correlation of discriminant validity for all subscales ranged from 0.466 to 0.948 and 0.121 to 0.5, respectively. Internal consistency of each subscale of P-MAF for sex, marital status, job tenure, and daily working hours was high (0.810-0.952). Factor analysis of the P-MAF scale revealed that its items were related to severity, distress, timing of fatigue, interference with activity at home, and interference with activity away from home. The results showed significant correlations between the score of fatigue and some subscales of P-MAF, including concentration/focus (r = 0.649, P < 0.001) and impatience/irritability (r = 0.334, P = 0.001). Conclusions: The P-MAF had appropriate structural characteristics, was a valid and reliable instrument, and could be used for measuring fatigue among Iranian office workers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Caregiver burden is always a neglected domain, and assessment of burden with available instruments developed in one country is neither reliable nor valid because of different cultural, ethical, religious, and other personal values. This study is an attempt to develop an appropriate instrument which can assess the burden on caregivers from the Indian subcontinent and other Asian countries. This work is an attempt to develop and standardization of CBS-IP using content and construct validity. Methods: The study was conducted with a total of 125 (55 - initial interview + 25 - pilot study + 45 - construct validity) caregivers of individual with chronic neurologically ill patients. Content and construct validation was performed as follows: (1) search of relevant electronic databanks and use of experts and caregivers' opinions to prepare appropriate content, review, and correction of the content through discussions with experts. (2) Content validity has been established by computing content validity index (CVI). (3) Construct validity has been established by correlating (Pearson's-r) with another standardized instrument (Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Revised) using multitrait procedure. Results: Using CVI procedure, scale-level CVI (S-CVI) universal agreement is 0.889; S-CVI average is 0.898. The item-level CVI is 0.90. The Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient (r) was obtained by comparing caregiver burden scale-Indian population (CBS-IP) total with extraversion, r = -0.440, n = 45, P = 0.002; CBS-IP total with neuroticism, r = 0.228, n = 45, P = 0.132; and CBS-IP total with psychoticism, r = -0.011, n = 45, P = 0.942. Conclusions: We believe that the new tool CBS-IP is a good empirical instrument for evaluating stressors on informal caregivers in India and possibly in some other countries in Asia. Background: This study aimed to design and execute a reliable checklist for evaluating midwifery students' clinical skills. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 8 checklists were designed and validated for midwifery procedures. The students' performances were compared using this method and two other evaluation methods. Results: The face and content validity of all questions were approved (content validity ratio and content validity index >0.80, inter-rater reliability >0.50, and Cronbach's alpha >0.70). The rate of the students' satisfaction was 19%, 14%, and 76% with the nonchecklist method, the general checklist, and the designed checklist, respectively. Furthermore, both students (F2,60 = 107.07, p < 0.004) and evaluators (F2,9 = 152.23, p < 0.001) gained significantly higher attitude scores towards the new checklist compared to the two other methods. Introduction: Simulation-based training in laparoscopic urology is essential, as these surgeries require a different skill set. We validated a chicken model for laparoscopic left modified Lich Gregoir type of ureteric reimplantation. Materials and Methods: Prospective observational study was conducted from August 2016 till February 2017. Thirty novice surgeons and 20 trained laparoscopic surgeons were included in the study. The relevant chicken anatomy and surgical steps were described to all the surgeons. The surgeons were asked to fill an eight-point questionnaire after finishing the procedure and score it on a scale of 1–5. The trainee's performance was also recorded by an investigator on a proforma. The investigator recorded dissection time, suturing time, quality of dissection, quality of suturing, and integrity of anastomosis on a scale of 1–5. Results: All the participants in the study gave a mean score of 3 or more to all the questions asked, except for one question pertaining to tissue feel. Both the groups rated the usefulness of the model very highly with a mean score of 4.20 and 4.15, respectively. Difference in the time taken for dissection and suturing along with the quality of suturing was statistically significant in favor of the expert group. Conclusions: The chicken model for laparoscopic left modified Lich Gregoir type of ureteric reimplantation is a useful, effective, cognitive training tool. Background: The aim of the present study was to develop a dental caries risk assessment tool for Iranian preschoolers. Methods: In a validation and cross-sectional study, a random sample of 150 preschool children was involved. This study was conducted in three phases: questionnaire design (expert panel and peer evaluation), questionnaire testing (pilot evaluation and field testing), and validation study. The initial assessments include interview, dental examination, and laboratory investigations. Validity and reliability indices, content validity index (CVI), content validity ratio (CVR), impact score, and test-retest and Cronbach's alpha were measured. Decayed, missing, filled teeth (dmft) scores were calculated according to the WHO guidelines. Results: The Iranian version of caries risk assessment (CRA) questionnaire contained 17 items. Cronbach's alpha coefficient (0.86) indicated a suitable internal consistency. The mean scores for the CVI and the CVR were 0.87 and 0.78, respectively. The prevalence rate of dental caries in the study group was 69.3%, and the mean dmft was 4.57 (range 0-19). Conclusions: The Persian version of CRA questionnaire was adapted to the Iranian population. The findings demonstrated overall acceptable validity and also reliability in the application of test-retest. The results of the present study provide initial evidence that the designed CRA form could be a useful tool for CRA in the Iranian preschoolers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: There is not a valid Persian tool for measuring the decision-making competency of patients. The aim of this study is to evaluate the face and content validity of the MacArthur Competence Assessment Tool for the treatment of Iranian Persian-speaking patients. Methods: To assess the validity of the Persian version of the tool, a self-administrated questionnaire was designed. The Lawshe method was also used for assessing each item. Content validity ratio (CVR) and content validity index (CVI) were used to assess the content validity quantitatively. According to the experts' judgment, questions with a CVR =0.62 and CVR <0.62 were maintainable and unmaintainable, respectively. Results: The questions were designed in a manner to achieve the desirable result (CVR =0.62). The CVI scale (S-CVI) and CVI (S-CVI/Ave) were 0.94 (higher than 0.79). Thus, the content validity was confirmed. Conclusions: Since capacity assessments are usually based on physician's subjective judgment, they are likely to bias and therefore, with this suitably validated tool, we can improve judgment of physicians and health-care providers in out- and in-patient cases. Introduction: The Neuropathic Pain Questionnaire-Short Form (NPQ-SF) is the shortest diagnostic tool for the assessment of neuropathic pain, designed with the goal to differentiate between neuropathic and nonneuropathic pain. The aim of this study was to translate, culturally adapt, and validate the NPQ-SF questionnaire in Arabic. Methods: A systematic translation process was used to translate the original English NPQ-SF into Arabic. After the pilot study, the Arabic version was validated among patients with chronic pain in two tertiary care centers. Reliability of the translated version was examined using internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). We examined the validity of the Arabic NPQ-SF via construct validity, concurrent validity (associations with the numeric pain scale, Brief Pain Inventory, and Self-completed Leeds Assessment of Neuropathic Symptoms and Signs [S-LANSS]), face validity, and diagnostic validity. To investigate the responsiveness, the translated NPQ-SF questionnaire was administered twice among the same group of patients. Results: A total of 142 subjects (68 men, 74 women) were included in the study. Cronbach's α were 0.45 (95% CI: 0.29, 0.61) and 0.48 (95% CI: 0.33, 0.63), and the ICC was 0.78 (95% CI: 0.72, 0.85). The NPQ-SF was moderately to strongly associated with the S-LANSS questionnaire. Results showed our Arabic NPQ-SF to have good diagnostic accuracy, with area under the curve of 0.76 (95% CI: 0.67, 0.84). Results from the receiver operating characteristic analysis identified a cut-off score of =0.52 as the best score to distinguish between patients with or without neuropathic pain, which was higher than the recommended cut-off score (=0) in the original study. With both sensitivity and specificity of 71%. Most patients found the NPQ-SF questionnaire to be clear and easy to understand. Conclusion: Our translated version of NPQ-SF is reliable and valid for use, thus providing physicians a new tool with which to evaluate and diagnose neuropathic pain among Arabic-speaking patients. Introduction: The Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ) is a widely used tool for qualitative and quantitative pain assessment. Our aim was to translate, culturally adapt, and validate the SF-MPQ in Arabic. Methods: A systematic translation process was used to translate the original English SF-MPQ into Arabic. After the pilot study, we validated our version in patients with chronic pain at two tertiary care centers. We tested the reliability of our version using internal consistency and test-retest reliability. We examined the validity by assessing construct validity, concurrent validity (by investigating the associations between SF-MPQ, Brief Pain Inventory [BPI], and Self-completed Leeds Assessment of Neuropathic Symptoms and Signs [S-LANSS]), and face validity. The questionnaire was administered twice to examine responsiveness. Results: A total of 142 participants (68 men and 74 women) were included in this study. Cronbach's a was 0.85 (95% confidence interval: 0.81 - 0.89), and interclass correlation coefficients were 0.71 (0.62-0.79) for the whole scale. SF-MPQ was moderately associated with patients' present pain (r = 0.55, P < 0.001) and the numerical rating scale (r = 0.42, P < 0.001). The total pain score was moderately correlated with pain severity and interference assessed with the BPI (rs = 0.39 to 0.49, all Ps < 0.001). SF-MPQ total pain score was weakly associated with neuropathic pain assessed with S-LANSS (r = 0.26, P < 0.01). Most patients found the SF-MPQ questions to be clear and easy to understand and thought the questionnaire items covered all their problem areas regarding their pain. Conclusion: Our translated version of SF-MPQ was reliable and valid for use among Arabic-speaking patients.
