Objective Methods Results Conclusion Dyspareunia can severely impact the quality of life of patients with endometriosis. This symptom is often linked to a specific form of deep infiltrating endometriosis, such as rectovaginal septum endometriosis. Despite the radicality of surgery, persistence and recurrence of symptoms post‐surgery are not uncommon. The aim of the present study was to determine whether adenomyosis contributes to the failure of surgical interventions for dyspareunia in these patients.A retrospective single‐cohort study was conducted at the at tertiary care gynecologic center of the University Federico II of Naples, using medical records from January 2020 to July 2023. The study included patients who underwent surgery for dyspareunia associated with rectovaginal endometriosis and had a definitive histologic diagnosis. Pain and sexual quality of life were assessed using the visual analog scale (VAS) and the sexual quality of life‐female (SQoL‐F) questionnaire, both before and 6 months after surgery. Patients with isolated rectovaginal endometriosis were compared to those with concurrent adenomyosis.A total of 94 patients were included: thirty‐five in group A (endometriosis with adenomyosis) and 59 in group B (isolated rectovaginal endometriosis). Histology confirmed deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) in all patients. Clinical characteristics such as age, BMI, abnormal uterine bleeding, and infertility, showed no significant differences between the groups. Multiparity was more common in group A (20%) compared to group B (5.1%) (P < 0.001). Pain VAS scores decreased significantly in both groups: from 7.11 to 5.40 in group A and from 7.34 to 3.31 in group B (both P < 0.001). Sexual quality of life (SQoL) scores improved significantly: from 42 to 57 in group A and from 41 to 66 in group B (both P < 0.001). Patients in group B showed a more significant improvement. Adjusted linear regression showed no significant association between parity and the severity of dyspareunia or sexual quality of life.Adenomyosis appears to reduce the effectiveness of surgical treatment for dyspareunia in patients with rectovaginal septum endometriosis. Comprehensive preoperative screening for adenomyosis is recommended to improve surgical outcomes and provide appropriate counseling. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the impact of vNOTES on postoperative sexual dysfunction in patients undergoing adnexal procedures. Methods: We analyzed data from patients who underwent vNOTES adnexal surgeries for benign conditions between May 2020 and May 2023. The primary outcome was the presence of new postoperative deep dyspareunia (DD) or other sexual dysfunctions, which were assessed through a phone survey conducted 6 to 24 months after surgery. Secondary outcomes included surgical feasibility, operative times, complications rate, and postoperative pain evaluation. Results: We included 103 patients for primary and secondary outcomes and 111 patients for secondary outcomes analysis only. Newly postoperative DD was reported by three patients (2.9%), remained present at 12 postoperative months in one case (1.0%), and spontaneously disappeared in two cases (1.9%) after four and 10 postoperative months, respectively. In the remaining 100 patients (97.1%), no new DD or other sexual function disorders were reported after surgery. vNOTES procedures were successfully performed in all cases, with a mean operative time of 38.2 ± 19.6 min and a conversion rate to conventional laparoscopy of 0.9%. No significant complication was observed. Conclusion: This study suggests a very limited risk of developing postoperative sexual dysfunction after vNOTES benign adnexal procedures. Introduction: Sexual function of patients with endometriosis should be assessed by patient‐reported outcome measures (PROMs) that present high reliability and validity. The objective was to study the PROMs used to assess sexual function for patients with endometriosis to improve their selection for research and clinical practice. Material and methods: We performed a systematic literature review from January 2000 to September 2023. All studies including women with confirmed endometriosis and assessing sexual quality of life or sexual function or sexual distress were retrieved. Different properties of PROMs used for sexual dysfunction were assessed according to the COnsensus‐based Standards for the selection of health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) recommendations. Properties evaluated were: structural validity, internal consistency, cross‐cultural validity, reliability, measurement error, criterion validity, construct validity, and responsiveness. This literature review was registered on Prospero as 2018 CRD42018102278. Results: Seventy‐four articles with evaluation of sexual function were included. Of the 25 PROMs assessing sexual function, the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) was the most frequently used (34/74 [45.9%] items), followed by the Female Sexual Distress Scale (9/74 [12.2%] items) and the Sexual Activity Questionnaire (SAQ) (8/74 [10.8%] items). The most commonly used measurement properties were "hypothesis testing" and "responsiveness". The PROMs with a high level of evidence for these two measurement properties were the FSFI, the SAQ, the Short Sexual Functioning Scale, the Sexual Satisfaction Scale for Women, Sexual Quality of Life‐Female, the Brief Profile of Female Sexual Function, and the Sexual Health Outcomes in Women Questionnaire. The FSFI questionnaire appeared to be more relevant for evaluating medical treatment, and the SAQ for evaluating surgical treatment. Only one instrument was specific to endometriosis (the Subjective Impact of Dyspareunia Inventory [SIDI]). Conclusions: In this systematic literature review of sexual function assessment questionnaires in endometriosis, the FSFI and the SAQ questionnaires emerged as having the best measurement properties according to the COSMIN criteria. The FSFI questionnaire appears to be suited for evaluating medical treatment, and the SAQ for surgical treatment. Background: Gynecological cancers among women were both chronic and vitally health problems. The increasing prevalence of women with surviving gynecological cancers and the receiving treatments of cancer negatively affected the sexual quality of life. Aim: The study was conducted to determine the sexual quality of life of healthy women and women with gynecological cancer and to determine the predictors of sexual quality of life in women with gynecological cancer. Methods: The research is a hospital‐based case–control study was conducted. The study was carried out with 65 patients with histologically confirmed gynecological cancer were compared with 75 controls, who were admitted to the different departments of the same hospital in the Izmir, in western Türkiye. Results: The Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire score (SQOL) of cases was 60.12 ± 9.01 and controls was 78.92 ± 7.08. SQOL scores of cases were significantly lower than controls (p < 0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis results showed that age (B = −0.295, p = 0.072), working (B = 4.981, p = 0.016), smoking (B = −4.590, p = 0.035), diagnosed with cervical cancer (B = −4.214, p = 0.045), and receiving chemotherapy (B = −4.722, p = 0.028) were associated with sexual quality of life in women with gynecological cancer (p < 0.05, R2: 0.40). Conclusion: Women with gynecological cancer had lower quality of sex life compared with healthy women. Gynecological cancers negatively affect women's sexual quality of life. Health professionals (especially nurses) should be aware of the potential problems that women with gynecological cancer may experience with their sexual lives. Objective: To evaluate the effect of a sex education program on sexual function and sexual quality of life in women with endometriosis. Methods: In a quasi‐experimental study, women with endometriosis who had undergone laparoscopic surgery were assigned to an intervention group (n = 36) or a control group (n = 36). The intervention group received a sex education program consisting of two sessions a week (90 min each) for two consecutive weeks; the control group received none. Both groups were followed for 12 weeks. Sexual function and sexual quality of life were assessed on the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) and the Sexual Quality of life‐Female (SQOL‐F) questionnaire before the intervention, as well as 8 and 12 weeks after the intervention. Outcomes were analyzed using Student t test, the χ2 test, Fisher exact test, and repeated measures analysis of variance. Results: The mean age of the study participants was 36.9 ± 5.7 years. The two groups did not differ significantly in terms of demographics and pre‐intervention clinical characteristics. At the end of the study, sex education reduced female sexual dysfunction by 58.1% in the intervention group. The mean FSFI score increased significantly in the intervention group from pre‐intervention to 8 and 12 weeks post‐intervention compared with the scores in the control group (P < 0.001). Conclusions: Sex education appears to be a promising intervention for reducing sexual dysfunction and improving sexual function and sexual quality of life in women with endometriosis. Future studies should encompass longer periods of follow up to obtain further data on the efficacy of sex education in this setting. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: To determine the prevalence of depression, review some variables that are believed to be associated and assess the relationships between depression and sexual quality of life in postmenopausal women. Design and Methods: This is a cross‐sectional study conducted on postmenopausal women in Ankara, Turkey from February to June 2020. The study group consisted of 242 postmenopausal women. The Beck Depression Inventory and Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire were used to assess the level of depression and sex life, respectively. Online questionnaire forms (Google Form) prepared by using the literature in line with the study objective were completed by the women online. Independent t‐test, analysis of variance, Tukey's test, and Pearson's correlation analysis were used for statistical analyses. Statistical significance was accepted as p ≤ 0.05. Findings: The of women was found to be 52.64 (±6.245) years and the average menopause age was found to be 47.81 (±4.039) years in this study. The mean score obtained by the women from the Beck Depression Inventory was 13.04 (±7.82). It was determined that the women showed "mild depressive symptoms" mostly. As for the women's sexual quality of life, the mean score obtained from the Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire was 61.32 (±14.70). A statistically significant and moderate negative correlation was detected between the mean scores obtained by the women from the Beck Depression Inventory and the Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire (r = −0.305; p < 0.01). Practice Implications: It was determined in the study that sexual quality of life is affected by menopause negatively and the women had mild depressive symptoms. Depression among postmenopausal women is an important women's health problem that should be addressed. A negative correlation was found between depression and sexual quality of life. Early diagnosis and treatment of menopause as well as activities for raising awareness among postmenopausal women will be effective in improving quality of life. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: To evaluate the sexual quality of life and self‐esteem of obese women and the relationship between them. Design and Methods: This is a descriptive and cross‐sectional study. A descriptive questionnaire, Rosenberg Self‐Esteem Scale, and Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire were used to collect the data. Findings: Participants had a moderate level of self‐esteem. The mean scores of the participants were 50.45 + 10.23 for Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire. A positive correlation was found between self‐esteem and sexual quality of life. Practice Implications: High self‐esteem is positively correlated with quality of sexual life in obese woman. Physical activity increases self‐esteem and sexual quality of life. Background: Couple distress is a crucial point in premature ejaculation (PE). PE has been associated with significant bother, interpersonal problems, and dissatisfaction with sexual intercourse for both men and their partners. Objectives: The primary objective of this study was to assess the effect of PE on female sexuality in female partners of men affected from PE. Secondary objectives were to assess the impact of PE on female sexual quality of life, to assess the presence of sexual problems of the male partner, and to evaluate the prevalence and characteristics of comorbidities. Materials and methods: Adult women aged 18 to 80 years old, sexually active, were randomly sampled from the patient lists of General Practitioners in Italy and were included in this observational, non‐interventional, cross‐sectional epidemiological study. Subjects were asked to fill: a general questionnaire regarding anthropometric data, lifestyle, marital status, education, occupation, economic conditions, general health status, comorbidities, and sexual habits; the Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire‐Female (SQoL‐F); the Female Sexual Distress Scale (FSDS‐R‐PE); the Self‐rating Depression Scale (SDS); and Self‐rating Anxiety Scale (SAS). In addition, females reported about their partner's ejaculation time and the presence of sexual dysfunctions. Results: A total of 3,104 women were included. Mean age was 45.1 years. Woman with PE partners presented a higher percentage of sexual dysfunction and reported more anxiety compared with female partners of men not affected from PE (42.69% vs. 20.56% and 30.95% vs. 15,34%, respectively). In addition, they referred more sexual dysfunction in their partners. Hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, arthritis, heart diseases, thyroid disease, a history of menopause, or hysterectomy resulted in significantly more prevalence in women with PE partners. Discussion and conclusions: Female partners of PE patients present an increased prevalence of sexual distress, a reduced quality of sexual life, and an increased anxiety score when compared to women whose partners are not affected from PE. ABSTRACT Urinary incontinence (UI) is a symptom of an underlying disorder with a high prevalence, constituting an important public health problem due to its physical, psychological and social consequences. The impact it has on the individuals' quality of life is revealed in their daily activities, self-perception, socialization, emotional health and in their sexual life. The objective of this study is to analyse the impact of incontinence on the sexual quality of life, identifying the role of the variables: gender, duration and severity of incontinence, impact of incontinence on the quality of life and type of incontinence. The sample was composed by 55 patients (54·05% male and 45·5% female) from health facilities, in Lisbon, with a mean age of 55 years, who answered a set of questionnaires, which included: the Incontinence Impact Questionnaire ( IIQ-7); the Urogenital Distress Inventory ( UDI-6); the Questionnaire on Sexual Quality of Life, male and female versions ( SQoL-F/ SQoL-M) and a sociodemographic questionnaire. The results indicate that UI has a negative impact on the sexual quality of life in general, especially if the incontinence symptoms endure for a long period of time; also the impact of UI on social relationships, and the stress UI has a significant and negative impact on the sexual quality of life. In this study, UI has a negative impact on sexual life compounded by restrictions and other negative consequences of living with urinary leakage. The authors conclude that further research is required to ascertain the full impact of UI on sexual quality of life. Finally, implications for nurses are also discussed: in addressing the sexual health of their patients, nurses have an important contribution in assuring that experiencing UI should not necessarily translate into negative sexual quality of life. Objective To investigate the sexual quality of life of women who have undergone female genital mutilation (FGM) and compare them with a similar group who has not undergone FGM. Design Case-control study. Setting A large central London teaching hospital. Population A total of 73 women who had undergone FGM and 37 control women, who had not undergone FGM but were from a similar cultural background where FGM is practiced. Methods The women completed a questionnaire containing the Sexual Quality of Life-Female (SQOL-F) questionnaire. Main outcome measures SQOL-F score. Results Women who have undergone FGM of any type have a significantly lower ( P < 0.001) overall SQOL-F score than control women (mean = 62.44, SD = 27.93 versus mean = 88.84, SD = 13.73). Women who were sexually active and had undergone FGM type III differed the most from sexually active controls ( P < 0.05) in their SQOL-F score. Women who were sexually inactive but who had undergone FGM reported significantly lower overall SQOL-F scores ( P = 0.015) than sexually inactive controls, but were not differentiated by type of FGM.
