In the continuous casting process, the heat transfer effect of secondary cooling plays an important role in the quality of the slab. The cooling intensity and cooling uniformity of the secondary cooling nozzle need more efficient spray cooling to achieve. Herein, the cold characteristics of different types of nozzles were compared. It is found that the second type of air mist nozzles have more uniform water density and striking force. On this basis, high‐temperature heat transfer experiments for casting billets were carried out to study the heat transfer coefficients of different air mist nozzles in the secondary cooling zone of continuous casting. It is found that the heat transfer coefficient increases as the distance of the temperature measurement point from the nozzle directly below increases. The heat transfer coefficients of the casting billet in both the jet and non‐jet zones are decreasing to varying degrees. When the temperature drops to 600 °C, the second type of air mist nozzle shows a faster temperature drop at the point of measurement, a smaller difference in time taken for temperature drop between jet and non‐jet zones, and faster and more uniform spraying, leading to a more significant trend of increasing heat transfer coefficient. Compositional complex alloys, including high and medium‐entropy alloys (HEAs/MEAs) have displayed significant potential as efficient electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), but their structure‐activity relationship remains unclear. In particular, the basic question of which crystal facets are more active, especially considering the surface reconstructions, has yet to be answered. This study demonstrates that the lowest index {100} facets of FeCoNiCr MEAs exhibit the highest activity. The underlying mechanism associated with the {100} facet's low in‐plane density, making it easier to surface reconstruction and form amorphous structures containing the true active species is uncovered. These results are validated by experiments on single crystals and polycrystal MEAs, as well as DFT calculations. Solar‐driven photocatalytic oxygen reduction is a promising pathway for sustainable hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) production. However, limited O2 diffusion and low selectivity in the two‐electron oxygen reduction reaction hinder its practical application. Here, a novel conjugated organic polymer material (conjugated triazine‐thiophene polymer, CTTP) based on triazine and thiophene, integrating a favorable mass transfer structure with competent catalytic centers is presented for the first time. Remarkably, under the gas–liquid–solid triphase condition, the self‐floating CTTP can rapidly capture gaseous oxygen, reducing it to superoxide radicals and transferring them to the reaction interface, drastically enhancing H2O2 yield. An excellent H2O2 concentration of 1.85 mm g−1 h−1 is achieved in a triphase system, representing a remarkable 14‐fold improvement compared to the liquid and solid phase reaction. Interestingly, the triphase system based on CTTP demonstrates the potential for large‐scale H2O2 production under 8 h of sunlight irradiation, reaching 293 ppm day−1 m−2. Objective Method Results Conclusions The efficacy of psychological interventions for bipolar disorder (BD) is well established, but much remains unknown about how change occurs. The primary objective of this exploratory study was to audit what is known about active components and mechanisms of action of psychological interventions for BD.We conducted a systematic review (PROSPERO CRD42022323276). Two independent reviewers screened references from four databases and extracted data from eligible studies.We included four component studies, six studies with mediation analyses and 26 studies presenting subjective experiences of how psychological interventions bring change. Ten mediators were examined across six studies, with only one putative mediator, medication adherence, tested in more than one study. Some initial support for mediation of varied outcomes by control over thoughts, positive non‐verbal behaviour, self‐esteem, post‐trauma growth and medication adherence. Some preliminary support was found in two components, human support and IPT. Studies exploring participant experiences of therapeutic change enumerated a range of potential active components, mechanisms of action and contextual factors potentially warranting investigation in future research. However, the evidence base for active components and mechanisms of action in psychological interventions for BD is unsatisfactory. Findings were inconsistent, studies homogenous with significant methodological limitations and statistical approaches failed to meet quality criteria.Preliminary identification of potential components and mechanisms via qualitative analyses and the insights emerging from this review will inform future research aimed at investigating how psychological interventions work in BD. Organic supermolecules have shown great promise for photocatalytic hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) production. However, the limitation of intramolecular charge separation efficiency is still a crucial scientific problem. In this study, a novel acceptor–donor–acceptor (A–D–A) type naphthalenediimide supramolecule (SA‐NDI) is successfully designed for overcoming fundamental issues in organic supermolecule. Composed of one electron‐rich core (naphthalenediimide) and two electron‐poor units (aminopyridine), the supramolecule possesses strong intramolecular charge transfer ability. Meanwhile, the SA‐NDI has an obviously stronger internal electric field, which is 2.83 times higher than that of D–A type supramolecule. The A–D–A type SA‐NDI efficiently accelerates charge separation, so that the intramolecular electron quickly migrates to the acceptor for a two‐electron oxygen reduction reaction. The SA‐NDI supramolecule shows excellent H2O2 accumulation ability (13.7 mm) and stable cyclic time above 120 h. Meanwhile, the catalyst exhibits a superior solar‐to‐chemical conversion efficiency of 1.03% under simulated solar irradiation. The poor prognosis observed in elderly individuals infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) remains a serious clinical burden and the underlying mechanism is unclear, which necessities detailed investigation of disease characteristics and research for efficient countermeasures. To simulate lethal coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) in senescent human patients, 80‐week‐old male hamsters are intranasally inoculated with different doses of SARS‐CoV‐2 Omicron BA.5 variant. Exposure to a low dose of the Omicron BA.5 variant results in early activation of the innate immune response, followed by rapid viral clearance and minimal lung damage. However, a high dose of BA.5 results in impaired interferon signaling, cytokine storm, uncontrolled viral replication, and severe lung injury. To decrease viral load and reverse the deterioration of COVID‐19, a new bio‐mimic decoy called CoVR‐MV is used as a preventive or therapeutic agent. Administration of CoVR‐MV as a preventive or therapeutic intervention in the early stages of infection can effectively suppress viral load, regulate the immune response, and rescue animals from death and critical illness. These findings underscore the risk associated with SARS‐CoV‐2 Omicron BA.5 exposure in senescent hamsters and highlight the importance of early intervention to prevent disease progression. Introduction: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is one of the major histopathological types of non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), including solid, acinar, lepidic, papillary and micropapillary subtypes. Increasing evidence has shown that micropapillary LUAD is positively associated with a higher percentage of driver gene mutations, a higher incidence of metastasis and a poorer prognosis, while lepidic LUAD has a relatively better prognosis. However, the novel genetic change and its underlying mechanism in the progression of micropapillary LUAD have not been exactly determined. Methods: A total of 181 patients with LUAD who underwent surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Huzhou University from January 2020 to December 2022 were enrolled. Three predominant lepidic and three predominant micropapillary LUAD tissue samples were carried out using whole‐exome sequencing. Comprehensive analysis of genomic variations and the difference between lepidic and micropapillary LUAD was performed. In addition, the TMEM229A Q200del mutation was verified using our cohort and TCGA‐LUAD datasets. The correlations between the TMEM229A Q200del mutation and the clinicopathological characteristics of patients with LUAD were further analyzed. The functions and mechanisms of TMEM229A Q200del on NSCLC cell proliferation and migration were also determined. Results: The frequency of genomic changes in patients with micropapillary LUAD was higher than that in patients with lepidic LUAD. Mutations in EGFR, ATXN2, C14orf180, MUC12, NOTCH1, and PKD1L2 were concomitantly detected in three predominant micropapillary and three predominant lepidic LUAD cases. The TMEM229A Q200del mutation was only mutated in lepidic LUAD. Additionally, the TMEM229A Q200del mutation had occurred in 16 (8.8%) patients, and not found TMEM229A R76H and M346T mutations in our cohort, while TMEM229A mutations (R76H, M346T, and Q200del) occurred only in 1.0% of the TCGA‐LUAD cohort. Further correlation analysis between the TMEM229A Q200del mutation and clinicopathological characteristics suggested that a lower frequency of the Q200del mutation was significantly associated with positive lymph node metastasis, advanced TNM stage, positive cancer thrombus, and pathological features. Finally, overexpression of TMEM229A Q200del suppressed NSCLC cell proliferation and migration in vitro. Mechanistically, overexpression of TMEM229A and TMEM229A Q200del both reduced the expression level of phosphorylated (p)‐ERK and p‐AKT (Ser473), and the reduced protein level of p‐ERK in the TMEM229A Q200del group was more pronounced compared to the TMEM229A group. Conclusion: Our results demonstrated that the TMEM229A Q200del mutant may play a protective role in the progression of LUAD via inactivating ERK pathway, providing a potential therapeutic target in LUAD. In this study, a silica boron modified phenolic resin foam (SiBPF) is prepared in a reactor under specific pressure and temperature and using supercritical CO2 (scCO2) as a physical foaming agent, to improve phenolic foam (PF) brittle and friable properties and avoid environmental pollution caused by conventional physical foaming. To determine the partially curing degree for foaming, the influence of partially curing time at partially curing degrees between 39.88% and 53.17% was studied. Further, through an orthogonal experimental method, the optimized foaming process parameters—partially curing time of 6 h, adsorption time of 9 h, foaming pressure of 1 MPa, and foaming temperature of 130°C—were determined. The SiBPF, thus prepared under the optimized conditions, exhibited a density of 0.2356 g/cm3, an average cell size of 86.66 μm, and a cell density of 7.10 × 106 cells/cm3. Its compressive strength was found to be 7.28 MPa, with a specific compressive strength of 30.90 MPa/g·cm−3. At 800°C, the carbon residue rate, thermal decomposition temperature T5%, and Tmax reached 77.61%, 355.21, and 702.70°C, respectively. The thermal conductivity of SiBPF was measured to be 0.0644 W/mK, with the rear temperature stabilizing at 60°C on a hot platform of 100°C. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The Affordable Care Act expanded Medicaid coverage for people with low income in the United States. Expanded insurance coverage could promote more timely access to cancer treatment, which could improve overall survival (OS), yet the long‐term effects of Medicaid expansion (ME) remain unknown. We evaluated whether ME was associated with improved timely treatment initiation (TTI) and 3‐year OS among patients with breast, cervical, colon, and lung cancers who were affected by the policy. Methods: Medicaid‐insured or uninsured patients aged 40–64 with stage I–III breast, cervical, colon, or non‐small cell lung cancer within the National Cancer Database (NCDB). A difference‐in‐differences (DID) approach was used to compare changes in TTI (within 60 days) and 3‐year OS between patients in ME states versus nonexpansion (NE) states before (2010–2013) and after (2015–2018) ME. Adjusted DID estimates for TTI and 3‐year OS were calculated using multivariable linear regression and Cox proportional hazards regression models, respectively. Results: ME was associated with a relative increase in TTI within 60 days for breast (DID = 4.6; p < 0.001), cervical (DID = 5.0 p = 0.013), and colon (DID = 4.0, p = 0.008), but not lung cancer (p = 0.505). In Cox regression analysis, ME was associated with improved 3‐year OS for breast (DID hazard ratio [HR] = 0.82, p = 0.009), cervical (DID‐HR = 0.81, p = 0.048), and lung (DID‐HR = 0.87, p = 0.003). Changes in 3‐year OS for colon cancer were not statistically different between ME and NE states (DID‐HR, 0.77; p = 0.075). Conclusions: Findings suggest that expanded insurance coverage can improve treatment and survival outcomes among low income and uninsured patients with cancer. As the debate surrounding ME continues nationwide, our findings serve as valuable insights to inform the development of policies aimed at fostering accessible and affordable healthcare for all. Diabetes mellitus is a major cause of blindness and chronic ulcers in the working‐age population worldwide. Wound healing is deeply dependent on neovascularization to restore blood flow. Former research has found that differentially expressed circular RNAs (circRNAs) are associated with hyperglycaemia‐induced endothelial cell damage, and hypoxia‐pretreated adipose‐derived stem cells (ADSCs)‐extracellular vesicle (HEV) transplants have a more therapeutic effect to enhance wound healing in diabetic mice by delivery circRNA. The current investigation employed high‐throughput sequencing to identify circRNAs that are abnormally expressed between EV and HEV. The regulatory mechanism and predicted targets of one differentially expressed circRNA, circ‐IGF1R, were investigated utilizing bioinformatics analyses, luciferase reporter assays, angiogenic differentiation assays, flow cytometric apoptosis analysis and RT‐qPCR. Circ‐IGF1R expression increased in HEV, and downregulation of circ‐IGF1R suppressed and reversed the promotion effect of HEV on angiogenesis in ulcerated tissue. Bioinformatics analyses and luciferase reporter assays confirmed that miR‐503‐5p was the downstream target of circ‐IGF1R, and inhibiting miR‐503‐5p restored the promotion effect of HEV on angiogenesis after circ‐IGF1R silence. The study also found that miR‐503‐5p can interact with 3'‐UTR of both HK2 and VEGFA. Overexpression of HK2 or VEGFA restored the promotion effect of HExo on angiogenesis after circ‐IGF1R silence. Overexpression miR‐503‐5p or silence HK2/VEGFA reversed the protective effect of circ‐IGF1R to MLMECs angiogenic differentiation. Overexpression of circ‐IGF1R increased the protective effect of HEV on the promotion of wound healing in mice with diabetes. Circ‐IGF1R promotes HIF‐1α expression through miR‐503‐5p sponging. The aim of this work is to fabricate a novel electrospun poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/silk fibroin (SF) nanofibrous membrane containing astaxanthin (ASTA) and silver (Ag) nanoparticles as potential wound dressing. Since ASTA is typically liposoluble, the bioavailability could be greatly enhanced by improving its hydrophilicity. The antioxidant performance of eletrospun membrane is verified by ABTS radical scavenging assays. The beadless fibers could be fabricated at 16 kV when PVA (12, wt%) is blended with SF (6, wt%). In addition, the membrane is carefully chemically crosslinked by comparing the efforts (i.e., mechanical strength and water resistance) of glutaraldehyde dipping and vapor treatment. The morphology of the electrospun membrane is observed by scanning electron microscopy and optical microscope. The formation of Ag nanoparticles, which provides the membranes antibacterial properties, is also confirmed by energy dispersive spectroscopy and inhibition zone test. Meanwhile, the PVA/SF/ASTA/Ag compound membrane is characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, x‐ray diffraction, thermo gravimetric analysis, differential thermal analysis, and water contact angle. The releasing of ASTA is also measured, and kinetic data are adjusted by Higuchi models. Finally, the biocompatibility is confirmed by in vitro cell staining experiments and in vivo rat models. Simple, sensitive, and accurate molecular diagnostics are critical for preventing rapid spread of infection and initiating early treatment of diseases. However, current molecular detection methods typically rely on extensive nucleic acid sample preparation and expensive instrumentation. Here, a simple, fully integrated, lab‐in‐a‐magnetofluidic tube (LIAMT) platform is presented for "sample‐to‐result" molecular detection of virus. By leveraging magnetofluidic transport of micro/nano magnetic beads, the LIAMT device integrates viral lysis, nucleic acid extraction, isothermal amplification, and CRISPR detection within a single engineered microcentrifuge tube. To enable point‐of‐care molecular diagnostics, a palm‐sized processor is developed for magnetofluidic separation, nucleic acid amplification, and visual fluorescence detection. The LIAMT platform is applied to detect SARS‐CoV‐2 and HIV viruses, achieving a detection sensitivity of 73.4 and 63.9 copies µL−1, respectively. Its clinical utility is further demonstrated by detecting SARS‐CoV‐2 and HIV in clinical samples. A hybrid of halloysite nanotubes decorated with titanium dioxide nanoparticles (HNTs@TiO2) was synthesized by the sol–gel method and then mixed with ultra‐high molecular polyethylene (UHMWPE) by melt compounding to enhance its wear resistance properties. The incorporation of HNTs@TiO2 increased the crystallinity as well as the hardness of UHMWPE nanocomposites, which benefited less prone to plastic deformation during the friction process. In addition, the UHMWPE/HNTs@TiO2 maintained a high ductility character with a slight decrease in tensile strength compared to pure UHMWPE. With the addition of 3 wt% HNTs@TiO2, the UHMWPE nanocomposite achieved a remarkably low friction coefficient of 0.073 and a reduced wear rate of 6.67 × 10−6 mm3/N·m. These values represented a 32.4% decrease in friction coefficient and a 43.9% decrease in wear rate compared to pure UHMWPE. The improvement in wear resistance was due to the dislodged TiO2 and HNTs had good synergistic rolling effects at the counterface. Furthermore, the wear scan morphology observation revealed that the transferred HNTs@TiO2‐based materials could help to improve the quality of the tribofilms, which alleviated the abrasive wear from the metallic counterpart. This work offers a feasible way to enhance the wear resistance of UHMWPE nanocomposite without sacrificing the high ductility for expanding its engineering applications. Strain sensors which are embeded in AMOLED are introduced and studied in this paper. High accuray strain sensing are achieved, resolution of the sensors are about 0.05%. By combing the strain sensors in the panel, mechanical behaviors can be monitored and studied in real time. The snesors are used to conduct the foldable AMOLED mechanical and reliability study. Dynamic and static strains and related mechanism are introduced and discussed. Finite element simulation models considering the mechanical properties of materials including hyperelasticity, viscoelasticity and creep are established. Finally, the strain sensors and finite element anlysis are combined to study the mechanical response of AMOLED under dynamic folding, static folding, and different temperature and humidity environments. Objective: Biologic disease‐modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) are immunosuppressants, and there have been concerns that they might impact tumor immunity in patients with cancer with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The purpose of this study was to describe the utilization trends of bDMARD in patients with RA after breast cancer (BC) diagnosis. Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study of adults with RA and BC (2008 onward) from Optum's de‐identified Clinformatics® Data Mart Database (CDM); the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) Medicare; and the Texas Cancer Registry (TCR) Medicare databases. We evaluated bDMARD utilization trends during the first three years after BC. We conducted multivariable logistic regression to evaluate the association of utilization with patient characteristics. Results: A total 1,412 patients were identified in CDM and 1,439 patients in SEER/TCR‐Medicare. During the three months before BC diagnosis, 28.2% (CDM) and 26.9% (SEER/TCR‐Medicare) patients had received bDMARDs. Within the first three years after diagnosis, 24.1% (CDM) and 26.4% (SEER/TCR‐Medicare) were receiving bDMARDs. About 70% of the patients in the two cohorts received glucocorticoids with no significant time trend increases. The largest predictor of bDMARD utilization was prior use before BC (CDM: odds ratio [OR] 27.15, 95% confidence interval [CI] 19.29–38.19; SEER/TCR: OR 18.98, 95% CI 13.72–26.26). Regional and distant BC compared to in situ or localized were also associated with lower bDMARDs utilization in SEER/TCR‐Medicare (OR 0.54, 95% CI 0.36–0.82; OR 0.31, 95% CI 0.13–0.77, respectively). Conclusion: The utilization of tumor necrosis factor inhibitors and other bDMARDs in patients with RA and recent BC has not increased since 2008. Glucocorticoids utilization remained high. Investigating the catalytic behavior of the liquid fuels on well‐defined dual sites is crucial in understanding electrocatalytic reactions. Herein, concept holding bidirectional electronegativity dominant d‐band center regulation on Pt‐Rh dual sites is proposed to tailor the catalytic behaviors toward methanol oxidation reaction (MOR). The Pt‐Rh dual sites are engineered by introducing the low‐electronegativity Ga/Ni and high‐electronegativity W elements in PtRhGaNiW high‐entropy alloy (HEA), which can drive the electron cloud of Pt‐Rh dual sites redispersing over a wide orbit window. The optimized Pt‐Rh dual sites in PtRhGaNiW HEA nanowire achieve a high current density of 5.61 mA cm−2 toward MOR, which is 3.38 and 9.75 times than that of PtRh alloy (1.66 mA cm−2) and Pt/C (0.57 mA cm−2), as well as remarkably stability and COads poisonous resistance. The theoretical calculations further disclose that the redistribution of surface localized electron around Pt‐Rh dual sites can promote direct oxidation of ─OH, and accelerate the COads oxidation/removal. Organic photosensitizer with both large two‐photon absorption (σ) and efficient intersystem crossing (ISC) offers incomparable advantages in precise two‐photon photodynamic therapy. However, the current design strategy cannot achieve efficient ISC without compromising σ. Here, very efficient ISC and ultrahigh σ in organic photosensitizer (PFBT) for precise cerebrovascular two‐photon photodynamic therapy is simultaneously achieved. A hybridized local and charge‐transfer (1HLCT) excited state in PFBT, formed by incorporating benzothiadiazole into a typical polyfluorene (PF), is the key to initiating efficient ISC while bringing substantial σ enhancement (25 000 GM vs 10 000 GM) compared to PF. Mechanism studies identify that 1HLCT produces large spin‐orbit coupling and tiny singlet‐triplet energy gaps, together generating efficient ISC. These properties afford PFBT nanophotosensitizer a ≈2000‐fold increase in two‐photon photodynamic therapy efficiency than clinically‐used Photofrin, enabling in vivo deep‐brain cerebrovascular imaging and closure with unprecedented precision. Fascin actin‐bundling protein 1 (Fascin) is highly expressed in a variety of cancers, including esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), working as an important oncogenic protein and promoting the migration and invasion of cancer cells by bundling F‐actin to facilitate the formation of filopodia and invadopodia. However, it is not clear how exactly the function of Fascin is regulated by acetylation in cancer cells. Here, in ESCC cells, the histone acetyltransferase KAT8 catalyzed Fascin lysine 41 (K41) acetylation, to inhibit Fascin‐mediated F‐actin bundling and the formation of filopodia and invadopodia. Furthermore, NAD‐dependent protein deacetylase sirtuin (SIRT) 7‐mediated deacetylation of Fascin‐K41 enhances the formation of filopodia and invadopodia, which promotes the migration and invasion of ESCC cells. Clinically, the analysis of cancer and adjacent tissue samples from patients with ESCC showed that Fascin‐K41 acetylation was lower in the cancer tissue of patients with lymph node metastasis than in that of patients without lymph node metastasis, and low levels of Fascin‐K41 acetylation were associated with a poorer prognosis in patients with ESCC. Importantly, K41 acetylation significantly blocked NP‐G2‐044, one of the Fascin inhibitors currently being clinically evaluated, suggesting that NP‐G2‐044 may be more suitable for patients with low levels of Fascin‐K41 acetylation, but not suitable for patients with high levels of Fascin‐K41 acetylation. © 2024 The Pathological Society of Great Britain and Ireland. In order to identify rutin hydrolysis genes, a 200 genotypes mini‐core Tartary buckwheat germplasm resource was re‐sequenced with 30‐fold coverage depth. By combining the content of the intermediate metabolites of rutin metabolism with genome resequencing data, metabolite genome‐wide association analyses (GWAS) eventually identified a glycosyl hydrolase gene FtGH1, which could hydrolyse rutin to quercetin. This function was validated both in Tartary buckwheat overexpression hairy roots and in vitro enzyme activity assays. Mutation of the two key active sites, which were determined by molecular docking and experimentally verified via overexpression in hairy roots and transient expression in tobacco leaves, exhibited abnormal subcellular localization, suggesting functional changes. Sequence analysis revealed that mutation of the FtGH1 promoter in accessions of two haplotypes might be necessary for enzymatic activity. Co‐expression analysis and GWAS revealed that FtbHLH165 not only repressed FtGH1 expression, but also increased seed length. This work reveals a potential mechanism behind rutin metabolism, which should provide both theoretical support in the study of flavonoid metabolism and in the molecular breeding of Tartary buckwheat. Metal‐loaded biochar (BC) catalytic systems are widely used for the removal of organic pollutants. However, there is still a lack of relevant research on the impact of different preparation conditions on the performance of synthetic materials. In the present research, CuO and Fe2O3 were loaded on the surface of Ginkgo biloba BC by a hydrothermal method and a chemical co‐precipitation method to prepare carbon‐based metal catalytic materials. Bisphenol A (BPA) was selected as the target pollutant to study the activation effect of the metal‐loaded BC to persulfate (PS). The results showed that the catalytic performance of the CuO/BC materials was better than that of Fe2O3/BC and Fe2O3/CuO/BC. By exploring the influence of the preparation process on the catalytic performance, it can be obtained that the optimal calcination temperature was 350°C and the optimal loading ratio was 2.5:1(w/w) for CuO/BC materials. The CuO/BC prepared under this condition could remove 81.5% of BPA within 60 min. Background: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 disease (COVID‐19) has caused a worldwide challenging and threatening pandemic. We aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of the COVID‐19 vaccines in Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) patients. Methods: Patient self‐reported adverse events related to vaccines were recorded by follow‐up through a uniform questionnaire. Survival analysis was performed by Kaplan–Meier method. A multivariate analysis was performed by the Cox proportional hazard regression model to determine the effect of each variable on the survival of lung cancer patients. Results: A total of 860 patients with NSCLC on treatment were enrolled. Mean age was 57 years in patients with early stage group and 62 years in advanced stage group. The vaccination rate was 71.11% for early‐stage patients and 19.48% for advanced‐stage patients; most of them (86.5%) received the COVID‐19 inactivated virus (Vero cell) vaccine (Coronavac; Sinovac). The most common systemic adverse reaction was weakness. The main reason for vaccine refusal in those unvaccinated patients was concern about the safety of vaccination in the presence of a tumor and undergoing treatment (56.9% and 53.4%). The 1‐year disease‐free survival (DFS) rate was 100% for vaccinated and 97.4% for unvaccinated early‐stage patients. Then we compared the progression‐free survival (PFS) of vaccinated (median PFS 9.0 months) and unvaccinated (median PFS 7.0 months) advanced stage patients (p = 0.815). Advanced NSCLC patients continued to be divided into groups receiving radio‐chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy, with no statistical difference in PFS between the groups (p > 0.05). The median overall survival (OS) of vaccinated patients was 20.5 months, and that of unvaccinated patients was 19.0 months (p = 0.478) in advanced NSCLC patients. Conclusions: COVID‐19 vaccination is safe for Chinese NSCLC patients actively receiving different antitumor treatments without increasing the incidence of adverse reactions, and vaccination does not affect cancer patient survival. Aim: The three‐phase enriched environment (EE) intervention paradigm has been shown to improve learning and memory function after cerebral ischemia, but the neuronal mechanisms are still unclear. This study aimed to investigate the hippocampal–cortical connectivity and the metabolic interactions between neurons and astrocytes to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of EE‐induced memory improvement after stroke. Methods: Rats were subjected to permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (pMCAO) or sham surgery and housed in standard environment or EE for 30 days. Memory function was examined by Morris water maze (MWM) test. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was conducted to detect the structural and functional changes. [18F]‐fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) was conducted to detect brain energy metabolism. PET‐based brain connectivity and network analysis was performed to study the changes of hippocampal–cortical connectivity. Astrocyte‐neuron metabolic coupling, including gap junction protein connexin 43 (Cx43), glucose transporters (GLUTs), and monocarboxylate transporters (MCTs), was detected by histological studies. Results: Our results showed EE promoted memory function improvement, protected structure integrity, and benefited energy metabolism after stroke. More importantly, EE intervention significantly increased functional connectivity between the hippocampus and peri‐hippocampal cortical regions, and specifically regulated the level of Cx43, GLUTs and MCTs in the hippocampus and cortex. Conclusions: Our results revealed the three‐phase enriched environment paradigm enhanced hippocampal–cortical connectivity plasticity and ameliorated post‐stroke memory deficits. Background: Radiofrequency ablation has been applied for the treatment of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM). The two known procedures are percutaneous intramyocardial septal radiofrequency ablation (PIMSRA) and endocardial radiofrequency septal ablation (ERSA). Methods: This study presents a retrospective analysis of the PIMSRA and ERSA procedures in patients with drug‐refractory HOCM. A total of 28 patients participated in the study, with 12 receiving PIMSRA and 16 receiving ERSA. The objective of our study was to compare the short‐term effects of these two radiofrequency ablation procedures. Results: At the 30‐day follow‐up, the PIMSRA group demonstrated a greater reduction in left ventricular outflow tract peak gradient at rest compared to the ERSA group (22.25 [16.72] mmHg versus 47.75 [21.94] mmHg) (p <.01). The values for the PIMSRA group decreased from 99.33 (32.00) mmHg to 22.25 (16.72) mmHg (p <.01), while the ERSA group decreased from 97.75 (30.24) mmHg to 47.75 (21.94) mmHg (p <.01). Only the PIMSRA group exhibited a decrease in mitral regurgitation (MR). The area of MR decreased from 10.13 (4.12) mm2 to 3.65 (2.80) mm2 in the PIMSRA group (p <.01). Additionally, the PIMSRA group experienced reductions in left atrial diameter (LAD) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF)%. The values for LAD changed from 43.58 (7.53) mm to 37.08 (6.92) mm (p =.03), and the values for LVEF% decreased from 65.75 (6.12) pg/mL to 60.83 (4.06) pg/mL (p =.03). Conclusion: In terms of the two types of radiofrequency ablation methods used in HOCM, it has been observed that PIMSRA demonstrates a more favorable early treatment effect compared to ERSA. The dorsoventral gradient of BMP signaling plays an essential role in embryonic patterning. Zinc Finger SWIM-Type Containing 4 (zswim4) is expressed in the Spemann-Mangold organizer at the onset of Xenopus gastrulation and is then enriched in the developing neuroectoderm at the mid-gastrula stages. Knockdown or knockout of zswim4 causes ventralization. Overexpression of zswim4 decreases, whereas knockdown of zswim4 increases the expression levels of ventrolateral mesoderm marker genes. Mechanistically, ZSWIM4 attenuates the BMP signal by reducing the protein stability of SMAD1 in the nucleus. Stable isotope labeling by amino acids in cell culture (SILAC) identifies Elongin B (ELOB) and Elongin C (ELOC) as the interaction partners of ZSWIM4. Accordingly, ZSWIM4 forms a complex with the Cul2-RING ubiquitin ligase and ELOB and ELOC, promoting the ubiquitination and degradation of SMAD1 in the nucleus. Our study identifies a novel mechanism that restricts BMP signaling in the nucleus. BACKGROUND: Rice taste is closely associated with endosperm composition, which varies among different rice layers. Although clarifying the relationship between this difference and nutritional taste can guide rice breeding and cultivation practices, research on this topic is limited. RESULTS: Here, typical rice varieties having excellent and poor taste characteristics were selected to analyze the distribution characteristics and differences of their components. The varieties with excellent taste exhibited lower apparent amylose content (AAC) and protein content (PC), lesser short‐chain (Fa) and long‐chain (Fb3) amylopectin (AP) and more medium‐chain (Fb1+2) AP, higher long‐to‐short chain ratio (Fa:Fb3), and higher nitrogen (N), magnesium (Mg) and calcium (Ca) content in layer 1 (L1) than the varieties with poor taste. Layer 2 (L2) played a key role in AAC and PC regulation in the varieties with excellent taste by reducing AAC and appropriately increasing PC, consequently improving rice taste. AP structure in layer 3 (L3) substantially affected the taste of the two types of varieties. The mineral content was the highest in L1, and increased potassium (K), Ca, and Mg content improved taste in all varieties. CONCLUSION: AAC in each layer contributes to rice taste. PC and minerals primarily act on L1 and L2, whereas AP acts on L2 and L3. Therefore, the endosperm formation process should be exploited for improving rice taste. We performed a meta‐analysis to compare the effect of preoperative and postoperative radiotherapy on wound complications after resection of extremity soft tissue sarcoma (ESTS). A comprehensive computerised search of the PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, EMBASE, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), VIP, and Wanfang databases was conducted from their inception to August 2023 to identify studies comparing the effect of preoperative and postoperative radiotherapy on wound complications after ESTS resection. Two investigators independently screened the literature, extracted the data, and assessed the quality of the articles. The meta‐analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4 software. Nine studies with 1271 patients were included, with 631 and 640 patients in the preoperative and postoperative radiotherapy groups, respectively. The results showed that the incidence of postoperative wound complications after ESTS resection was significantly higher with preoperative radiotherapy than with postoperative radiotherapy (27.26% vs. 12.03%, odds ratio [OR]: 2.88, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.12–3.91, p < 0.001). However, the rate of local recurrence of ESTS was significantly lower with preoperative radiotherapy than with postoperative radiotherapy (8.75% vs. 14.81%, OR: 0.57, 95% CI: 0.36–0.91, p = 0.02), and the 3‐year overall survival was significantly higher in the preoperative radiotherapy group than in the postoperative radiotherapy group (82.24% vs. 70.04%, OR: 1.97, 95% CI: 1.05–3.71, p = 0.03). This pooled analysis suggests that although preoperative radiotherapy increases the rate of wound complications in ESTS compared with postoperative radiotherapy, it significantly reduces the rate of local recurrence after ESTS resection and improves the overall survival of patients. Owing to the limitations in the number and quality of the included studies, additional prospective cohort studies or randomised controlled trials are required to confirm these findings. Background: While the GRIPHON study and others have confirmed the efficacy and safety of selexipag with single, dual, and initial triple combination therapy for patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), multicenters studies concerning diverse triple oral combination therapies based on selexipag are limited. Hypothesis: This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of various sequential triple oral combination therapies on PAH outcomes. Methods: A retrospective study was carried out involving 192 patients from 10 centers, who were receiving sequential triple oral combination therapy consisting of an endothelin receptor antagonist (ERA), a phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor (PDE5i)/riociguat and selexipag. Clinical parameters, event‐free survival, and all‐cause survival were assessed and analyzed at baseline and posttreatment. Results: Among the 192 patients, 37 were treated with ERA + riociguat + selexipag, and 155 patients received ERA + PDE5i + selexipag. Both sequential triple oral combination therapies improved the World Health Organization functional class and raised the count of low‐risk parameters. As a result of the larger patients' population in the ERA + PDE5i + selexipag group, these individuals exhibited significant increases in 6‐minute walking distance (6MWD), pulmonary arterial systolic pressure, pulmonary arterial pressure, right ventricle, and eccentricity index, and significant decreases in N‐terminal probrain natriuretic peptide after 6 months of treatment. Nevertheless, both sequential triple oral combination therapy groups demonstrated similar shifts in these clinical parameters between baseline and 6 months. Baseline 6MWD and mean pulmonary arterial pressure were independent predictors of survival in patients undergoing ERA + PDE5i + selexipag therapy. Importantly, no significant differences were found in 6‐month event‐free survival and all‐cause survival between two groups. Background: Surface‐guided radiation therapy (SGRT) systems have been widely installed and utilized on linear accelerators. However, the use of SGRT with proton therapy is still a newly developing field, and published reports are currently very limited. Purpose: To assess the clinical application and alignment agreement of SGRT with CT‐on‐rails (CTOR) and kV‐2D image‐guided radiation therapy (IGRT) for breast treatment using proton therapy. Methods: Four patients receiving breast or chest wall treatment with proton therapy were the subjects of this study. Patient #1′s IGRT modalities were a combination of kV‐2D and CTOR. CTOR was the only imaging modality for patients #2 and #3, and kV‐2D was the only imaging modality for patient #4. The patients' respiratory motions were assessed using a 2‐min surface position recorded by the SGRT system during treatment. SGRT offsets reported after IGRT shifts were recorded for each fraction of treatment. The agreement between SGRT and either kV‐2D or CTOR was evaluated. Results: The respiratory motion amplitude was <4 mm in translation and <2.0° in rotation for all patients. The mean and maximum amplitude of SGRT offsets after application of IGRT shifts were ≤(2.6 mm, 1.6°) and (6.8 mm, 4.5°) relative to kV‐2D‐based IGRT; ≤(3.0 mm, 2.6°) and (5.0 mm, 4.7°) relative to CTOR‐based IGRT without breast tissue inflammation. For patient #3, breast inflammation was observed for the last three fractions of treatment, and the maximum SGRT offsets post CTOR shifts were up to (14.0 mm, 5.2°). Conclusions: Due to the overall agreement between SGRT and IGRT within reasonable tolerance, SGRT has the potential to serve as a valuable auxiliary IGRT tool for proton breast treatment and may improve the efficiency of proton breast treatment. Spark plasma sintering (SPS) tests were designed using the Taguchi method to create high‐performance composites consisting of 60 wt% TiB2, 30 wt% TiC, and 10 wt% Ti. The effects of SPS parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties of TiB2‐TiC‐TiB composites were systematically investigated. Additionally, the evolution of phase and microstructure during the densification of the composites was analyzed in detail. It has been demonstrated that composites can achieve a high relative density of 99.8%, a hardness of 22.2 GPa, a strength of 739 MPa, and a fracture toughness of 7.07 MPa m1/2, as well as a dense structure and small grain size. These properties can be obtained by sintering at a temperature of 1500°C, a pressure of 50 MPa, and a holding time of 5 min. Sintering temperature is the primary factor that promotes the densification of the composite and influences its relative density, grain size, and morphology. Bladder cancer is the 10th most prevalent cancer worldwide, with men having a lifetime risk of 1.1% and women 27%. The molecular mechanisms underlying the progression of bladder cancer from non-muscle invasive to muscle invasive are not well understood. This study used high-throughput RNA sequencing to identify differential gene expressions between the two types of bladder cancer. The researchers found that the upregulation of the PHB gene in muscle invasive bladder cancer tissues was associated with increased binding of the NADSYN1 mRNA to the PHB protein. Further experiments demonstrated that the interaction between PHB and NADSYN1 promoted bladder cancer progression. The study also identified Snai2 as a transcription factor that regulates the expression of NADSYN1, and its inhibition was associated with improved survival in bladder cancer patients. Facial soft tissue injuries, often resulting in scarring, pose a challenge in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery due to the need for functional and aesthetic restoration. This study evaluates the efficacy of recombinant human growth factors (rhGFs) in scar remodelling for such injuries. A retrospective evaluation was conducted from January 2020 to January 2023, involving 100 patients with facial soft tissue injuries. Participants were divided equally into a control group, receiving standard cosmetic surgical repair, and an observation group, treated with rhGFs supplemented cosmetic surgery. The study assessed scar characteristics (pigmentation, pliability, vascularity, height), hospital stay duration, tissue healing time, complication rates and patient satisfaction. The observation group demonstrated significant improvements in all scar characteristics, with notably better pigmentation, pliability, vascularity and height compared with the control group. The rhGF treatment also resulted in reduced hospital stay duration and faster tissue healing. Notably, the total complication rate was significantly lower in the observation group (10%) compared with the control group (34%). Additionally, patient satisfaction levels were higher in the observation group, with 98% combined satisfaction compared with 76% in the control group. The application of rhGFs in treating facial soft tissue injuries significantly enhances scar remodelling, expedites healing, reduces complications and improves patient satisfaction. These findings establish rhGFs as a valuable tool in the management of facial soft tissue injuries, highlighting their potential in improving both functional and aesthetic outcomes. Averaged over 4000 m in elevation, Tibetan Plateau (TP) functions as an important ecological security barrier in China. Alpine ecosystems present a trend of overall improvement under the influence of climate change and human activities, yet there are localized deteriorations. To improve the ecological function of the TP, large‐scale ecological restoration projects (ERPs) have been carried out over the past 30 years, which could be classified into three stages, that is, Exploration (1989–2003), Rapid Growth (2004–2014), and Comprehensive Development Stage (2015−present). With a total area of 850,000 km2, the ERPs include forest protection and construction, grassland protection and construction, water and soil erosion control, and desertification land management. The positive effect at the local scale has been widely verified, but the responses of productivity and species diversity were inconsistent. The positive effect at the regional scale gradually emerges, yet the spatial heterogeneity is significant, and the quantification of driving forces is an important prerequisite. There is a significant increase of rare wild animals in natural reserves, though it failed to curb the loss of animal and plant diversity in artificially planted areas. The long‐term effects of various ERPs on biodiversity should be taken into account so as to optimize the ecological measures and build a sustainable management model after project restoration. By summarizing the above achievements and problems of ERPs, we proposed a stepwise ecological restoration and adaptive management scheme by different restoration goals and reference modes, that is, "Environmental treatment—Ecological restoration projects—Adaptive management." Objective: We investigated correlations among clinical features, degree of inner ear endolymphatic hydrops (EH), and hippocampal volume (HV) in different stages of Meniere's disease (MD). Methods: From February 2021 to April 2022, clinical data were collected from 99 patients (39 males, 60 females, mean age: 50.4 ± 10.0 [range: 26–69] years) with unilateral MD admitted to the Department of Vertigo Disease of Shandong ENT Hospital. The left and right ears were affected in 64 and 35 patients, respectively. There were 50 and 49 cases in early (Stages 1, 2) and late stages (Stages 3, 4), respectively. Fifty healthy participants were included as controls. Audiovestibular function test results, EH grading using gadolinium‐enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and HV determined on MRI were analyzed for patients at different stages of MD. Results: Between‐group comparisons of early and late MD revealed significant differences in the disease course, vestibular function (VF), degree of EH, and HV. There were no significant between‐group differences based on age, sex, affected side, subjective degree of dizziness, hospital anxiety, or depression. Mean HV in patients with early‐stage MD was correlated with the canal paresis value of the caloric test and pure tone hearing threshold, HV in late‐stage patients was correlated with vestibular EH. Conclusion: Patients with late‐stage MD exhibited severe auditory and VF impairments, increased EH, and atrophy of the HV. Biomineralization is a universal biological phenomenon in which organisms use inorganic minerals to form their own structures. Inspired by the discovery of mineralized phages in nature, the concept of artificial biomimetic viral mineralization is proposed and it is validated using a large panel of viruses. Different viruses can be mineralized under different conditions, and the same virus can be completely mineralized using different inorganic minerals. The biomineralized viruses with unique physical and chemical properties display biological phenotypes distinct from those of their native counterparts during the subsequent infection process. These new features are largely due to the inorganic minerals chosen. Calcium is the most frequently used material for viral mineralization, and other inorganic ions, including silicon, aluminum, and ferrum, have also been utilized. In this review, recent advances in the artificial biomimetic mineralization of viruses are summarized while highlighting the potential applications and challenges in biomedicine. Background and Purpose: To identify anatomic prognostic factors and their potential roles in refining M1 classification for de novo metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (M1‐NPC). Materials and Methods: All M1‐NPC treated with chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy between 2010 and 2019 from two centers (training and validation cohort) were included. The prognostic value of metastatic disease extent and involved organs for overall survival (OS) were assessed by several multivariable analyses (MVA) models. A new M1 classification was proposed and validated in a separate cohort who received immuno‐chemotherapy. Results: A total of 197 M1‐NPC in the training and 307 in the validation cohorts were included for M1 subdivision study with median follow‐up of 46 and 57 months. MVA model with "≤2 organs/≤5 lesions" as the definition of oligometastasis had the highest C‐index (0.623) versus others (0.606–0.621). Patients with oligometastasis had better OS versus polymetastasis (hazard ratio [HR] 0.47/0.63) while liver metastases carried worse OS (HR 1.57/1.45) in MVA in the training/validation cohorts, respectively. We proposed to divide M1‐NPC into M1a (oligometastasis without liver metastases) and M1b (liver metastases or polymetastasis) with 3‐year OS of 66.5%/31.7% and 64.9%/35.0% in the training/validation cohorts, respectively. M1a subset had a better median progress‐free survival (not reach vs. 17 months, p < 0.001) in the immuno‐chemotherapy cohort (n = 163). Conclusion: Oligometastasis (≤2 organs/≤5 lesions) and liver metastasis are prognostic for M1‐NPC. Subdivision of M1‐NPC into M1a (oligometastasis without liver metastasis) and M1b (liver metastasis or polymetastasis) depicts the prognosis well in M1‐NPC patients who received immuno‐chemotherapy. Marine isoprene plays a crucial role in the formation of secondary organic aerosol within the remote marine boundary layer. Due to scarce field measurements of oceanic isoprene and limited laboratory‐based studies of isoprene production, assessing the importance of marine isoprene on atmospheric chemistry and climate is challenging. Calculating in‐field isoprene production rates is a crucial step to predict marine isoprene concentrations and the subsequent emissions to the atmosphere. The distribution, sources, and dominant environmental factors of isoprene were determined in the Northwest Pacific Ocean in 2019. The nutrient enrichment in the Kuroshio Oyashio Extension (KOE) surface seawater, driven by the upwelling and atmospheric deposition, promoted the growth of phytoplankton and elevated the isoprene concentration. This was confirmed by observed responses of isoprene to nutrients and aerosol dust additions in a ship‐based incubation experiment, where the isoprene concentrations increased by 70% (t = 4.417, p < 0.001) and 35% (t = 2.387, p < 0.05), respectively. Biogenic isoprene production rates in the deck incubation experiments were positively related to chlorophyll a, temperature, and solar radiation, with an average production of 7.33 ± 4.27 pmol L−1 day−1. Photochemical degradation of dissolved organic matter was likely an abiotic source of isoprene, contributing to approximately 14% of the total production. Driven by high isoprene production and extreme physical disturbance, the KOE showed very high emissions of isoprene of 46.0 ± 13.0 nmol m−2 day−1, which led to a significant influence on the oxidative capacity of the local atmosphere. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‑CoV‑2) variants continue to emerge and cocirculate in humans and wild animals. The factors driving the emergence and replacement of novel variants and recombinants remain incompletely understood. Herein, we comprehensively characterized the competitive fitness of SARS‐CoV‐2 wild type (WT) and three variants of concern (VOCs), Alpha, Beta and Delta, by coinfection and serial passaging assays in different susceptible cells. Deep sequencing analyses revealed cell‐specific competitive fitness: the Beta variant showed enhanced replication fitness during serial passage in Caco‐2 cells, whereas the WT and Alpha variant showed elevated fitness in Vero E6 cells. Interestingly, a high level of neutralizing antibody sped up competition and completely reshaped the fitness advantages of different variants. More importantly, single clone purification identified a significant proportion of homologous recombinants that emerged during the passage history, and immune pressure reduced the frequency of recombination. Interestingly, a recombination hot region located between nucleotide sites 22,995 and 28,866 of the viral genomes could be identified in most of the detected recombinants. Our study not only profiled the variable competitive fitness of SARS‐CoV‐2 under different conditions, but also provided direct experimental evidence of homologous recombination between SARS‐CoV‐2 viruses, as well as a model for investigating SARS‐CoV‐2 recombination. Although there is a huge literature on feature selection for the Cox model, none of the existing approaches can control the false discovery rate (FDR) unless the sample size tends to infinity. In addition, there is no formal power analysis of the knockoffs framework for survival data in the literature. To address those issues, in this paper, we propose a novel controlled feature selection approach using knockoffs for the Cox model. We establish that the proposed method enjoys the FDR control in finite samples regardless of the number of covariates. Moreover, under mild regularity conditions, we also show that the power of our method is asymptotically one as sample size tends to infinity. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first formal theoretical result on the power for the knockoffs procedure in the survival setting. Simulation studies confirm that our method has appealing finite‐sample performance with desired FDR control and high power. Biomimetic viral mineralization improves viral vaccine stability and immunogenicity using inorganic metals such as Ca, Al, or Fe. Mn is a metal found in high concentrations in mammalian tissues; however, under natural or laboratory conditions, Mn mineralization by medical viruses has yet to be established. Herein, a single IAV particle is successfully encapsulated with manganese phosphate (MnP) under specific conditions using the human influenza A virus (IAV). MnP‐mineralized IAVs (IAV@Mn) exhibited physiochemical and in vitro properties similar to Ca‐mineralized IAVs. In animal models, IAV@Mn shows limited replication in immune‐competent cells and a significant attenuation compared to naïve cells. Moreover, a single‐dose vaccination with IAV@Mn induced robust humoral and cellular immune responses and conferred significant protection against a wild‐type IAV challenge in mice. Thus, Mn mineralization in pathogenic viruses provides a rapid and universal strategy for generating an emergency vaccine in response to emerging viruses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The reaction of N‐arylpropynamides with the commercially available trifluoromethanesulfanamide in the presence of BiCl3 was found to afford quinolin‐2‐ones in a selective manner via electrophilic trifluoromethylthiolation enabled by the in‐situ generated CF3S−Cl and the followed intramolecular cyclization. Differing from the existing analogous cyclization route that solely produces spiro[4,5]trienones, this alternative approach exclusively affords the biologically interesting quinolin‐2‐ones as the major products. Polylactic acid (PLA), a biodegradable polymer, has become a major raw material in the field of 3D printing. However, some defects such as high brittleness and average bioactivity limit its application. In this study, a novel 3D printing composite of animal bone powder/polyethylene glycol/polylactic acid was prepared and investigated. The structures and properties of bHA/PEG/PLA composites were compared with commercial micron‐sized hydroxyapatite (mHA) and nano hydroxyapatite (nHA) composites. The study results show that the bHA has the same chemical structure as mHA and nHA, but its average particle size is 390 nm, which is quite different from mHA and nHA. When the PEG content is 14%, the toughness of the PEG/PLA blends is good, and its elongation at break reaches 96.23%. The bending strength, tensile strength, and elongation at break of bHA/PEG/PLA composites reach 25.1 MPa, 16.3 MPa, and 11.32%, respectively, which are all higher than those of mHA/PEG/PLA and similar to those of nHA/PEG/PLA. The bHA/PEG/PLA biological scaffolds prepared by 3D printing show good biocompatibility in cytotoxicity experiments and have good application prospects in bone tissue engineering. The potential energy surface (PES) for the reaction of ozone with dimethyl sulfide (DMS) was calculated at the CCSD(T)/6‐311++G(3df,2pd)//M06‐2X/6‐311++G(d,p) levels of theory. Result shows that on the singlet PES the addition–elimination mechanism is dominant, and H‐abstraction mechanism is less competitive. The major channel starts from the addition of ozone and DMS leading to a weak intermediate IM1, which decomposes subsequently to DMSO and 1O2 via a barrier around 38.8 kJ/mol. With a barrier of 64.0 kJ/mol, the formation of HO3 + CH3SCH2 via H‐abstraction mechanism is subdominant. Besides, DMSO + 1O2 can take place further reactions to produce several products. The substitution mechanism was located on the triplet PES, however, with a rather high barrier it is negligible. Furthermore, the rate constants for the two channels leading to DMSO + 1O2 and HO3 + CH3SCH2 were calculated from 200 to 1000 K. The total rate constant is 1.13 × 10‐20 cm3·molecule‐1·s‐1 at 298 K and 1 atm, in good agreement with previous experimental data. Trans‐1,4‐polyisoprene (TPI) is a typical polymorphic polymer with two crystal modifications. The transition between two crystal modifications (α to β) occurs during stretching. The underlying mechanism is still under debate. In this work, the effects of crosslinking and strain rates on the crystal transition are studied. The TPI, which mainly contains α crystal (α−TPI), is crosslinked by γ‐ray radiation. The results show that crystalline morphology does not change after radiation. The melting temperature and yield stress of crosslinked α−TPI decrease with the irradiation dose. The structural evolution is studied by in situ wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction and small‐angle X‐ray scattering. During stretching, the content of β crystal (Xβ) of crosslinked α−TPI increases in the strain‐hardening region. The Xβ is lower in the sample with a higher radiation dose under the same strain. On the other hand, with increasing strain rate, the Xβ of the crosslinked sample exhibits a non‐monotonic variation. A parallel mechanical model consisting of amorphous and crystal fibrils is proposed to explain the experimental observations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
