The transboundary Mekong River spans China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, and provides critical ecosystem services that support millions of people across the river basin. However, the exploitation of its water resources for state‐led development, especially in the realm of hydropower development, not only threatens the livelihoods and food security of communities across the river basin, but also reveal the challenges of governing the Mekong River as a transboundary commons. In focusing on how environmental injustice is produced through hydropower development and the power dynamics within hybrid governance arrangements in the Mekong River Basin, this paper seeks to examine how a grounded perspective of environmental justice may be understood in this context by linkages between the principles of environmental justice and the Mekong literature in three ways. First, the production of, and challenges against distributive injustice in the Mekong River Basin must engage with a strong tradition of scalar analysis in the field of transboundary water governance, particularly in understanding how a politics of scale underlies contestations around the Mekong River. Second, the principle of justice as recognition can be situated within a body of literature that interrogates the politics of knowledge that runs through Mekong water governance, although the co‐production of knowledge types must be acknowledged. Finally, a recent body of literature questioning the legality of dam‐building and public participation around Mekong hydropower dams are closely tied to issues of procedural justice, and reveal the importance of recognizing plurality in ideas around transparency and accountability. Rice blast caused by Pyricularia oryzae is one of the most destructive rice diseases worldwide. In this study, 224 isolates were isolated from neck blast samples from nine districts in Jiangsu. We analysed the resistance frequency of 24 resistance (R) genes using 32 monogenic rice lines from the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), including Pii, Pik‐h, Pi5, Piz‐5, and Piz, which exhibit high resistance frequencies. PAC (pathogenicity association coefficients) and VAC (virulence association coefficients) analyses identified three combinations of R genes, Piz/Pii, Piz/Piz‐5, and Piz/Pi5, as being suitable for use in Jiangsu. Mating‐type analysis of P. oryzae isolates indicated that sexual reproduction occurred less frequently in northern Jiangsu than in other areas, which may affect genetic diversity and dissemination. Pot2‐TIR analysis indicated that the genetic diversity of P. oryzae in Xuzhou was mainly due to the insertion of transposable elements, while that of Nanjing was due to both the insertion of transposable elements and sexual recombination. Therefore, some R genes or gene combinations were suitable for resistance breeding in Jiangsu, and repetitive‐PCR (rep‐PCR) is a cost‐effective tool for genetically differentiating distinct cultivar‐specific populations or lineages with well‐defined virulence patterns, because of the close correspondence between rep‐PCR based clusters and pathotypes of inbred lines. In Northern Thailand's Chiang Khong district, which lies along the banks of the Mekong River and the Thai‐Lao border, an community‐based environmental movement under the leadership of the Rak Chiang Khong conservation group emerged in response to processes that have appropriated territories traditionally used by locals for state‐led economic exploitation. The Rak Chiang Khong has put up fierce opposition to large‐scale development projects such as the China‐led navigation project, which planned to blast ecologically and culturally significant rapids, and hydropower dam development along the Mekong River. As a result, local‐level governance arrangements of the transboundary commons in Chiang Khong have shifted to counter threats both within and beyond the borders of Thailand. Through adapting fishing arrangements, engaging in community‐led research and establishing village conservation zones, overlapping forms of territorialisation have emerged in response to socio‐ecological changes to the river. These new forms of territorialisation are produced by complex configurations of political, cultural, and ecological histories, politicaleconomic changes, and transboundary dynamics. These territorial strategies have been key towards reclaiming the transboundary commons of the Mekong River for riparian communities, and providing a deeper understanding of the values that drive community involvement in the transboundary environmental governance of the Mekong River. Rice false smut, caused by the fungal pathogen Villosiclava virens, is one of the most important rice diseases in the world. Previous studies reported that the pathogen has less number of cell wall-degraded genes and attacks dominantly rice stamen filaments and extends intercellularly. To reveal why the fungus infects plant stamen filaments, inoculation test on barley was carried out with the similar protocol to rice. The experimental results showed that the fungus could penetrate quickly into barley stamen filaments and extends both intracellularly and intercellularly, usually resulting in severe damage of the stamen filament tissues. It also attacked young barley lodicules and grew intercellularly by chance. The light microscopic observations found that the epidermal and cortex cells in barley stamen filaments arranged loosely with very thick cell walls and large cell gaps. Cellulose microfibrils in barley stamen filament cell walls arranged very sparsely so that the cell walls looked like transparent. The cell walls were very soft and flexible, and often folded. However, V. virens extended dominantly in the noncellulose regions and seemed never to degrade microfibrils in barley and rice cell walls. This suggested that the unique structures of rice and barley stamen filaments should be fit for their function of elongation in anthesis, and also endow with the susceptibility to the fungus, V. virens. On the basis of similar structure of solution for a second-order linear differential equation's boundary value problem, and our analysis of the relationship between this similar structure and its kernel function, the differential equation, and the boundary conditions, we propose a new simple solution--similar constructive method of solution (SCMS)--and sum up its detailed steps. We set up a porous media model under three kinds of outer boundary conditions (infinite, constant pressure, and closed), in which the influences of fractal dimension, spherical flow, skin effect, and storage are taken into consideration. And then we use SCMS to solve it. The SCMS is a straightforward method for differential equation's boundary value problems with complex boundary conditions, especially for solving the reservoir models in petroleum engineering.
