For a class of full‐states constraints nonlinear system with actuator failure, an adaptive fuzzy disturbance observer tracking design is carried out by using Lyapunov function and the dynamic surface method. The integral explosion problem is avoided by using the dynamic surface design method. Because the disturbance of the system is unknown, a nonlinear fuzzy disturbance observer is designed to estimate the unknown disturbance. And the unknown nonlinear function is approximated fuzzy logic systems. Based on the Lyapunov function method and backstepping approach, the stability of considered systems are analysed. And the proposed method can guarantee that all the signals in the closed‐loop system are bounded and the system output can track the desired signal to the small neighbourhood range. In addition, the fuzzy disturbance observer can estimate the unknown disturbance state well. Finally, several sets of simulation examples are given and compared with other method, and the experimental results are quantitatively analysed. BACKGROUND: Dry cultivation of rice is a water‐saving, emission reduction and labor‐saving rice farming method. However, the development of rice under dry cultivation is hampered by the limitations of dry cultivation on rice yield and rice quality. We hypothesized that additional silicon (Si) would be a measure to address these limitations or challenges. RESULTS: In the present study, we set up field trials with three treatments: flooded cultivation (W), dry cultivation (D) and dry cultivation plus Si. Yield and quality were reduced under D treatment compared to W treatment. The addition of Si promoted root development, increased plant height and leaf area, increased photosynthetic enzyme activity, net photosynthetic rate and SPAD values, and increased biomass under dry crop conditions. Under the drought conditions, silica up‐regulated the expression of AGPSI, SBEI, SBEIIb, SSI and SSII‐1 genes and the activities of ADP‐glucose pyrophosphorylase (AGPase), soluble starch synthetase (SSS) and starch branching enzyme (SBE) enzymes, which reduced protein, amylose, chalkiness percentage and chalkiness degree, increased brown rice rate, milled rice rate and head milled rice rate, and also improved rice quality. In addition, the increase of AGPase, SSS and SBE enzyme activities promoted the filling rate and the number of spikes was guaranteed, whereas the yield was improved by promoting the seed setting rate and 1000‐grain weight. CONCLUSION: The results of the present study indicate that adding appropriate amounts of Si fertilizer can improve the yield and quality of rice under dry cultivation by regulating source supply capacity and grain starch synthesis. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry. The conflict between rice production and water scarcity is becoming more pronounced. Therefore, the advancement of water‐saving rice cultivation is crucial in guaranteeing both food and ecological security. This study provides a summary of the development and characteristics of various water‐saving cultivation techniques for rice, including alternate wetting and drying irrigation, wet irrigation, controlled irrigation, the system of rice intensification, direct seeding rice, and dry cultivation of rice (DCR). We also introduce the varietal characteristics of upland rice, aerobic rice, water‐saving and drought‐resistant rice, and DCR. We summarize the impact of different water‐saving cultivation models on yield and quality and regulatory measures, and propose challenges and strategies for the development of water‐saving cultivation of rice in the future. We hope to provide a reference for promoting the development of rice water‐saving cultivation and dry farming agriculture. In this study, biogas and biogas slurry were simultaneously treated using two symbiotic systems: Chlorella vulgaris‐Ganoderma lucidum‐S395‐2 (endophytic bacteria) and Scenedesmus obliquus‐G. lucidum‐S395‐2. The influence of different mixed illumination (red and blue) intensity ratios on the algal symbionts' extracellular carbonic anhydrase activities was investigated, as well as the rates of microalgal growth and photosynthesis. The treatment performance was simultaneously assessed in terms of the efficiency of organic matter or nutrient removal and the level of CO2 absorption. The results indicated that red‐blue light combinations with an intensity ratio of 5:5 were optimal. When comparing the performance of the two symbiotic systems, the C. vulgaris‐G. lucidum‐S395‐2 symbiont co‐culture system achieved significantly improved photosynthetic rates, biomass growth, and treatment effects. Under the optimal treatment conditions, the organic matter and nutrient removal rates were 81.06% ± 7.06% for chemical oxygen demand, 82.32% ± 7.18% for total nitrogen, and 82.98% ± 7.26% for total phosphorus. In addition, the rate of CO2 removal from biogas was 63.38% ± 5.35%. Practitioner Points: The red and blue light intensity ratio of 5:5 showed the best removal performance.C. vulgaris‐G. lucidum‐S395‐2 system obtained the best photosynthetic performance.The carbonic anhydrase activity had positive effects on CO2 removal performance. Summary: In this paper, the adaptive fuzzy controller design problem is investigated for a class of switched nonlinear systems in nonstrict feedback form, in which the unknown functions are considered and are approximated. Moreover, the system states are constrained in corresponding compact. By using Barrier Lypunov function method and backstepping technique, the adaptive fuzzy controller is designed such that all the signals in the closed‐loop system are bounded, the system output can track the desired signal to small compact, and all the system states satisfy the constraint conditions. Contradictory reports on the effects of diabetes and hyperglycemia on myocardial infarction range from cytotoxicity to cytoprotection. The study was designed to investigate acute effects of high glucose-driven changes in mitochondrial metabolism and osmolarity on adaptive mechanisms and resistance to oxidative stress of isolated rat cardiomyocytes. We examined the effects of high glucose on several parameters of mitochondrial bioenergetics, including changes in oxygen consumption, mitochondrial membrane potential, and NAD(P)H fluorometry. Effects of high glucose on the endogenous cytoprotective mechanisms elicited by anesthetic preconditioning (APC) and the mediators of cell injury were also tested. These experiments included real-time measurements of reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) opening in single cells by laser scanning fluorescence confocal microscopy, and cell survival assay. High glucose rapidly enhanced mitochondrial energy metabolism, observed by increase in NAD(P)H fluorescence intensity, oxygen consumption, and mitochondrial membrane potential. This substantially elevated production of ROS, accelerated opening of the mPTP, and decreased survival of cells exposed to oxidative stress. Abrogation of high glucose-induced mitochondrial hyperpolarization with 2,4 dinitrophenol (DNP) significantly, but not completely, attenuated ROS production to a level similar to hyperosmotic mannitol control. DNP treatment reversed high glucose-induced cytotoxicity to cytoprotection. Hyperosmotic mannitol treatment also induced cytoprotection. High glucose abrogated APC-induced mitochondrial depolarization, delay in mPTP opening and cytoprotection. In conclusion, high glucose-induced mitochondrial hyperpolarization abolishes APC and augments cell injury. The aFGF (acidic fibroblast growth factor) plays an important role in morphogenesis, angiogenesis and wound healing and is therefore of potential medical interest. A DNA fragment encoding haFGF (human aFGF) has been cloned into the PVX (potato virus X)-based binary vector (pgR107) and transiently expressed in Nicotiana benthamiana (a wild Australian tobacco) by agroinfection. Approx. 1 week after agroinfection, the recombinant haFGF accumulated in the agroinfected plants reached up to 1% of the total soluble protein. haFGF was then purified on heparin-Sepharose CL-6B. The purified haFGF could stimulate the growth of NIH 3T3 cells, suggesting that the recombinant haFGF expressed via PVX viral vector in N. benthamiana was active biologically.
