Objective: We conducted a prospective randomized clinical trial to compare the efficacy of low‐ and high‐dose radioiodine for remnant ablation in patients with low‐risk differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) in China. The first‐stage results showed equivalence was observed between the two groups. Here, we report recurrence and survival at 3–5 and 6–10 years and biochemical parameters. Design, Patients and Methods: Between January 2013 and December 2014, adult patients with DTC were enroled. Patients had undergone total or near‐total thyroidectomy, with or without cervical lymph node dissection, with tumour stages T1–T3 with or without lymph node metastasis, but without distant metastasis. Patients were randomly assigned to the low‐dose (1850 MBq) or high‐dose (3700 MBq) radioiodine group. They were then followed up for 3–5 and 6–10 years. Data on biochemical abnormalities, recurrence and survival were analysed using Kolmogorov–Smirnov and χ2 tests. Results: The data of 228 patients (mean age = 42 years; 70.6% women) were analysed, with 117 patients in the low‐dose group and 111 in the high‐dose group. There were no significant differences in biochemical abnormalities, recurrence, or survival rates at the 6–10‐year follow‐up (all p >.05). Nine patients experienced recurrence in the low‐dose group (8.7%), while eight patients experienced recurrence in the high‐dose group (8.2%). The survival rates were 100% and 98.2% in the low‐ and high‐dose groups, respectively. Conclusions: The long‐term effectiveness and safety of low‐dose (1850 MBq) radioiodine are the same as those of high‐dose (3700 MBq) radioiodine for thyroid remnant ablation in Chinese patients with low‐risk DTC. In this study, we investigated reversible intermolecular proton shifting (IPS) coupled with spin transition (ST) in a novel FeII complex. The host FeII complex and the guest carboxylic acid anion were connected by intermolecular hydrogen bonds (IHBs). We extended the intramolecular proton transfer coupled ST phenomenon to the intermolecular system. The dynamic phenomenon was confirmed by variable‐temperature single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, neutron crystallography, and infrared spectroscopy. The mechanism of IPS was further validated using density functional theory calculations. The discovery of IPS‐coupled ST in crystalline molecular materials provides good insights into fundamental processes and promotes the design of novel multifunctional materials with tunable properties for various applications, such as optoelectronics, information storage, and molecular devices. Pathological myocardial remodelling is the initial factor of chronic heart failure (CHF) and is induced by multiple factors. We previously demonstrated that histone acetylation is involved in CHF in transverse aortic constriction (TAC) mice, a model for pressure overload‐induced heart failure. In this study, we investigated whether the histone deacetylase Sirtuin 6 (SIRT6), which mediates deacetylation of histone 3 acetylated at lysine 9 (H3K9ac), is involved pathological myocardial remodelling by regulating myocardial energy metabolism and explored the underlying mechanisms. We generated a TAC mouse model by partial thoracic aortic banding. TAC mice were injected with the SIRT6 agonist MDL‐800 at a dose of 65 mg/kg for 8 weeks. At 4, 8 and 12 weeks after TAC, the level of H3K9ac increased gradually, while the expression of SIRT6 and vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA) decreased gradually. MDL‐800 reversed the effects of SIRT6 on H3K9ac in TAC mice and promoted the expression of VEGFA in the hearts of TAC mice. MDL‐800 also attenuated mitochondria damage and improved mitochondrial respiratory function through upregulating SIRT6 in the hearts of TAC mice. These results revealed a novel mechanism in which SIRT6‐mediated H3K9ac level is involved pathological myocardial remodelling in TAC mice through regulating myocardial energy metabolism. The crystallization of a complex having electron transfer properties in a polar space group can induce the polarization switching of a crystal in a specific direction, which is attractive for the development of sensors, memory devices, and capacitors. Unfortunately, the probability of crystallization in a polar space group is usually low. Noticing that enantiopure compounds crystallize in Sohncke space groups, this paper reports a strategy for the molecular design of non‐ferroelectric polarization switching crystals based on the use of intramolecular electron transfer and chirality. In addition, this paper describes the synthesis of a mononuclear valence tautomeric (VT) cobalt complex bearing an enantiopure ligand. The introduction of enantiomer enables the crystallization of the complex in the polar space group (P21). The polarization of the crystals along the b‐axis direction is not canceled out and the VT transition is accompanied by a change in the macroscopic polarization of the polar crystal. A proton–electron coupling system, exhibiting unique bistability or multistability of the protonated state, is an attractive target for developing new switchable materials based on proton dynamics. Herein, we present an iron(II) hydrazone crystalline compound, which displays the stepwise transition and bistability of proton transfer at the crystal level. These phenomena are realized through the coupling with spin transition. Although the multi‐step transition with hysteresis has been observed in various systems, the corresponding behavior of proton transfer has not been reported in crystalline systems; thus, the described iron(II) complex is the first example. Furthermore, because proton transfer occurs only in one of the two ligands and π electrons redistribute in it, the dipole moment of the iron(II) complexes changes with the proton transfer, wherein the total dipole moment in the crystal was canceled out owing to the antiferroelectric‐like arrangement. Plant invasion initiates with the establishment of an alien species population that begins interacting with the existing community in the invaded habitat. Competitive ability may confer advantage to invasive species during establishment. Autopolyploidy has been shown to significantly contribute to successful invasion of China by Solidago canadensis that is native to North America. But how polyploidization improves competitive ability and determines the dominance of invasive species when competing with a plant community in the introduced range remains unclear. Here, we manipulated the initial plant composition of plowed land and subsequently allowed natural colonization by S. canadensis in a five‐year common garden experiment. Diploid, tetraploid and hexaploid populations collected in North America (native range) and East Asia (introduced range) were separately planted and allowed to compete with associated weeds in individual plots. The diversity and compositional variation of the plant communities and the growth characteristics of S. canadensis were investigated in summer and autumn each year. Based on how the community assembled, three outcomes were found: 1) S. canadensis outcompeted local vegetation: tetraploids and hexaploids from the introduced range outcompeted associated weeds and were dominant at equilibrium; 2) S. canadensis coexisted with local vegetation: hexaploids from the native range were competitive but ultimately could not outcompete the local vegetation; and 3) S. canadensis became extinct: diploids from both the native and introduced ranges and tetraploids from the native range went extinct. Concomitantly, diversity was low in the first group and high in the second and third. Therefore, polyploidization contributes to the pre differentiation of competitive ability among native S. canadensis populations, facilitatating the invasion of China by this species. The competitive ability of polyploids was enhanced through possible rapid post introduction evolution after their introduction into China, which could be the crucial factor for successful invasion by S. canadensis. Some cyanide‐bridged complexes are known for exhibiting slow magnetic relaxation behavior in a light‐induced metastable state. Herein, an unexpected reverse effect is observed for the first time in the S=1/2 {FeIILS‐CoIIILS‐FeIIILS} (HS=high spin, LS=low spin) ground state of a novel V‐shaped trinuclear cyanide‐bridged {Fe2Co} complex. In this complex, light‐switchable iron‐cobalt charge transfer with repeatable off/on switching of slow magnetic relaxation is discovered upon alternating laser irradiation at 785 and 560 nm. An important characteristic of the present compound is that the S=1/2 ground state exhibits slow magnetic relaxation before irradiation, whereas this is accelerated after irradiation. This is different from the typical behavior, where the light‐induced metastable state exhibits slow magnetic relaxation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
