Acute inflammation has the potential for the recruitment of immune cells, inhibiting tumor angiogenesis, metastasis, and drug resistance thereby overcoming the tumor immunosuppressive microenvironment caused by chronic inflammation. Here, an acute inflammation inducer using bacteria outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) loaded in thermal‐sensitive hydrogel (named OMVs‐gel) for localized and controlled release of OMVs in tumor sites is proposed. OMVs trigger neutrophil recruitment and amplify acute inflammation inside tumor tissues. The hydrogel ensures drastic inflammation is confined within the tumor, addressing biosafety concerns that the direct administration of free OMVs may cause fatal effects. This strategy eradicated solid tumors safely and rapidly. The study further elucidates one of the possible immune mechanisms of OMVs‐gel therapy, which involves the assembly of antitumor neutrophils and elastase release for selective tumor killing. Additionally, tumor vascular destruction induced by OMVs‐gel results in tumor darkening, allowing for combinational photothermal therapy. The findings suggest that the use of OMVs‐gel can safely induce acute inflammation and enhance antitumor immunity, representing a promising strategy to promote acute inflammation application in tumor immunotherapy. SiO2‐TiO2 aerogel composites were synthesized by co‐gelation of a titanium tetrachloride in an aqueous silicic acid solution. As‐prepared hydrogels were hydrophobized by trimethylchlorosilane and then dried at 150 °C and ambient pressure condition. The resulting gel composites are typical 'pearl‐necklace' aggregate silica structure which is intertwined at the nanometer level with titania, yielding a three‐dimensional hydrophobic SiO2‐TiO2 interpenetrating network with an improved pore structure, BET surface area, and photocatalytic performance when compared to their calcined hydrophilic gels. A hydrophobic aerogel composite which is optimized in an L9(34) orthogonal array features a fast removal (<30 mins) of organic compounds (> 89% removal of methyl orange and humic acid) in a 10 mg/L solution under UV light exposure, in which ethanol‐water was used as co‐solvent. In comparison, the calcined hydrophilic xerogel shows 10‐fold longer degradation time (∼ 300 mins) to remove the same concentration waste from the water streams. A high and fast degradation for organic pollutants is reached by using hydrophobic aerogel composites with assistance of organic co‐solvent to eliminate the interface between gel surface and pollutant solution. Electric propulsion is widely used in ship propulsion systems, and multiphase machines are gaining increasing popularity because of their fault‐tolerant ability, high power density, and reduced torque ripple. This study concentrates on the tandem ship propulsion configuration with two 15‐phase induction machines (IMs) fixed on the same shaft. Based on field‐oriented control and reconfiguration fault‐tolerant control for the single 15‐phase IM, the master–slave coordinated control strategy is designed for the tandem motors, which can not only achieve power allocation between two motors during normal operation, but also minimise the total stator copper loss of the two motors and maximise the propulsion output power ability during fault‐tolerant operation. Coal gangue, one of the main hazardous emissions of purifying coal from coalmine industry, is rich in silica and alumina. However, the recycling of the waste is normally restricted by less efficient techniques and low attractive output; the utilization of such waste is still staying lower than 15%. In this work, the silica aerogel materials were synthesized by using a precursor extracted from recycled silicon-rich coal gangue, followed by a single-step surface silylation and ambient pressure drying. A low density (~0.19 g/cm3) nanostructured aerogel with a 3D open porous microstructure and high surface area (~690 m2/g) was synthesized, which presents a superior thermal insulation performance (~26.5 mW·m−1·K−1 of a plane packed of 4-5 mm granules which was confirmed by transient hot-wire method). This study offers a new facile route to the synthesis of insulating aerogel material by recycling solid waste coal gangue and presents a potential cost reduction of industrial production of silica aerogels. Structure and properties of complexes (energies and charge transfer) of complexes BrF-HX (X = F, Cl, Br, I) have been investigated at the MP2/aug-cc-pVDZ (aug-cc-pVDZ-pp basis sets for I) level. Two types of geometries (hydrogen-bonded and halogen-bonded) are observed. The calculated interaction energies show that the halogen bonded structures are more stable than the corresponding hydrogen-bonded structures. To study the nature of the intermolecular interactions, symmetry-adapted perturbation theory (SAPT) energy decomposition analysis reveals that the BrF-HX complexes are dominantly electrostatic in nature. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
