Achieving emission peaks in the near‐infrared II regions (NIR II) and tunable near‐infrared (NIR) emission is still a huge challenge in the development of NIR phosphors. Here, a series of LiSc1‐yGayW2O8:Cr3+ phosphors are reported based on crystal engineering, whose luminescence can be tuned from NIR‐II to NIR I. LiScW2O8:Cr3+ possesses an ultra‐wide emission in the range of 850–1400 nm with peak at 1069 nm and a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 225 nm and the main emission light is located in the NIR‐II region. Introducing Ga3+ into LiScW2O8:Cr3+ to form LiSc1‐yGayW2O8:Cr3+, the emission spectrum is blueshifted, which better aligns with the characteristic absorption lines of most functional groups. Additionally, the intensity of emission and thermal stability are also improved. The NIR phosphor‐converted light‐emitting diodes (pc‐LED) device is prepared by using the optimized LiSc0.5Ga0.5W2O8:0.12Cr3+ phosphor and green chip, and different characteristic absorptions are detected by measuring the NIR absorption of water and ethanol with the prepared pc‐LED as a radiation source. SUMMARY: The sex of dioecious plants is mainly determined by genetic factors, but it can also be converted by environmental cues such as exogenous phytohormones. Gibberellic acids (GAs) are well‐known inducers of flowering and sexual development, yet the pathway of gibberellin‐induced sex conversion in dioecious spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) remains elusive. Based on sex detection before and after GA3 application using T11A and SSR19 molecular markers, we confirmed and elevated the masculinization effect of GA on a single female plant through exogenous applications of GA3, showing complete conversion and functional stamens. Silencing of GIBBERELLIC ACID INSENSITIVE (SpGAI), a single DELLA family protein that is a central GA signaling repressor, results in similar masculinization. We also show that SpGAI can physically interact with the spinach KNOX transcription factor SHOOT MERISTEMLESS (SpSTM), which is a homolog of the flower meristem identity regulator STM in Arabidopsis. The silencing of SpSTM also masculinized female flowers in spinach. Furthermore, SpSTM could directly bind the intron of SpPI to repress SpPI expression in developing female flowers. Overall, our results suggest that GA induces a female masculinization process through the SpGAI‐SpSTM‐SpPI regulatory module in spinach. These insights may help to clarify the molecular mechanism underlying the sex conversion system in dioecious plants while also elucidating the physiological basis for the generation of unisexual flowers so as to establish dioecy in plants. Significance Statement: Using environmental factors such as hormones to induce sex conversion is an important approach to studying dioecy sex differentiation, which is a special character closely related to flowering, reproduction, and fruiting. In our research, exogenous GA3 can induce functional masculinization of individual spinach, and the GA‐regulating pathway was established: GA‐SpGAI‐SpSTM‐SpPI. Crystal‐field engineering can obtain targeted emission more effectively, compared with the laborious experimental screening of new hosts. However, there still lack of paradigms for obtaining Ce3+‐doped cyan phosphors by crystal‐field engineering, and the correlation between the emission and the local structure of the Ce3+ ions has rarely been disclosed. Herein, through substituting the K+ in K3‐yRbyGdSi2O7:Ce3+ with Rb+, the emission color changes from yellow‐green to cyan and finally to blue. In addition, the emission intensity and thermal stability greatly improve, as the internal quantum efficiency increases from 39.4% (y = 0) to 83.6% (y = 1.2), and the thermal activation energy increases from 0.25 eV (y = 0) to 0.36 eV (y = 1.2). The optimized luminescent properties have been interpretated from the change in energy level splitting and configuration coordinate of Ce3+, both of which originate from the elongated Ce3+─O2− bonds. Finally, the cyan‐emitting phosphor K1.8R1.2GSO:Ce3+ is applied to bridge the cyan gap in a fabricated white light‐emitting diodes, and the color rendering index is improved from 90.8 to 93.4. A series of LaCaGaO4:xBi3+,yEu3+ (x = 0.002–0.04, y = 0.02–0.45) phosphors with adjustable emission colors were synthesized by high‐temperature solid‐state reaction. The samples were identified as pure phases by X‐ray diffraction and Rietveld refinement, and the crystal structures were analyzed in detail. The LaCaGaO4:xBi3+ phosphor shows an intense blue emission under near‐ultraviolet excitation, originating from the 3P1 → 1S0 transition. The spectrum analysis reveals that the Bi3+ ions occupy two luminescence centers in the LaCaGaO4 host and that energy transfer can occur. A model of the energy transfer between the Bi3+ and Eu3+ ions was also created and studied in detail. As the Eu3+‐concentration increased, the emission color of the LaCaGaO4:0.005Bi3+,yEu3+ phosphor changed from blue to pink to red. In addition, the fluorescence lifetime, quantum yield, thermal stability, and other properties of the phosphors were characterized and analyzed. Finally, two white light‐emitting diode devices with Ra values of 96.6 and 95 and correlated color temperatures of 4578 and 3324 K were fabricated, indicating the potential of phosphors for warm white lighting applications. Golden pompano (Trachinotus ovatus) and hybrid grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus × Epinephelus fuscoguttatus) has widely been distributed in China and Southeast Asian countries with great commercial importance. In this study, the nutritional profiles, chemical and physical parameters of back and abdomen muscles were determined. Significantly different (p <.05) proximate compositions were found in two fish muscles. The contents of water‐soluble protein, salt‐soluble protein, and non‐nitrogenous protein were higher in the golden pompano while salt‐insoluble proteins were higher in the hybrid grouper. The main minerals found were K (3700.56–4495.57 μg/g) followed by P > Na > Mg > and Ca, respectively. Fatty acids contents consisted of polyunsaturated fatty acids ranging from 29.40% to 43.09% and saturated fatty acids 28.33% to 39.61%. The muscles were rich in n‐3 PUFAs with n‐6/n‐3 ratio of 1.36%–2.96% in the back and abdomen. On the other hand, total amino acid and non‐essential amino acid contents were found higher in the hybrid grouper while essential amino acid and delicious amino acid contents were higher in the golden pompano. Glutamic acid was the most predominant amino acid. The amino acid scores (AAS) of six amino acids were close to 1.00, whereas lysine showed the highest AAS while tryptophan was the most limited essential amino acid in all muscles, respectively. Phase change materials (PCMs) are key to the development of artificial intelligence technologies such as high‐density memories and neuromorphic computing, thanks to their ability for multi‐level data storage through stepwise resistive encoding. Individual resistance levels are realized by adjusting the crystalline and amorphous volume fraction of the memory cell. However, the amorphous phase exhibits a drift in resistance over time that has so far hindered the commercial implementation of multi‐level storage schemes. In this study, the underlying physical process of resistance drift with the goal of modeling is elucidated that will help minimize and potentially overcome drift in PCM memory devices. Clear evidence is provided that the resistance drift is dominated by glass dynamics. Resistivity convergence and drift inversion for the amorphous chalcogenide Ge15Te85 and the PCM Ge3Sb6Te5 are experimentally demonstrated and these changes are successfully predicted with a glass dynamics model. Chalcogenide phase‐change materials combine a remarkable set of properties that makes them promising candidates for future non‐volatile memory applications. Binary data storage exploits the high contrast in electrical and optical properties between the covalent amorphous and metavalent crystalline phase. Here the authors perform an analysis of the liquid phase kinetics of the phase‐change material Ge3Sb6Te5, which is the key to ultrafast switching speeds. By employing four experimental techniques, the viscosity is measured over sixteen orders of magnitude despite its propensity for fast crystallization. These measurements reveal that the liquid undergoes a transition in viscosity–temperature dependence associated with a liquid–liquid phase transition. The system exhibits a shallow viscosity change with temperature near the glass transition which stabilizes the memory cells in the amorphous state and which limits the severity of relaxation processes. Meanwhile, when heated during the writing process, the fragility increases to more than double, causing the viscosity to drop rapidly enabling a nanosecond crystallization speed. This change in viscosity–temperature dependence is highly unusual among glass forming liquids and is reminiscent of the behavior of water. In order to explore the influence of different lengths of hydrophobic carbon chains on the diffusion characteristics of surfactants on the surface of anthracite, six linear alkyl benzene sulfonates with different hydrophobic carbon chain lengths were selected (mC, m = 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18; m represents the numbers of carbon atoms in the hydrophobic carbon chain), and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were adopted. Models of surfactant-anthracite, surfactant-graphite layer, and water-surfactant-anthracite were constructed. After analyzing a series of properties such as adsorption energy, diffusion coefficient, radial distribution function (RDF), and hydrophobic tail order parameters, it was found that 12C had the highest adsorption strength on the surface of anthracite; the reason was that 12C had the highest degree of aggregation near the oxygen-containing functional groups on the surface of anthracite. Further studies had found that the hydrophobic tail chain of 12C had the strongest isotropy. The study fills the gap in the systematic study of the diffusion characteristics of linear alkylbenzene sulfonates (LAS) with different chain lengths on the surface of anthracite, enriches and develops the basic theory of coal wettability, and also provides technical ideas for the design of new surfactants and new dust suppression agents. The three‐dimensional (3D) printing properties of pure shrimp surimi are poor and require improvement via the addition of other materials. The effects of the different amounts of potato starch, corn starch, tapioca starch, and cross‐linked starch (CLS) (0%, 3%, 6%, or 9%, respectively) on the 3D printing properties and material properties of white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) surimi were evaluated in the present study. The results showed that the apparent viscosity, G′, and G'' of the samples were increased by adding 6% CLS, making it easy to extrude the sample from the nozzle and resulting in an improvement in the printing accuracy. In addition, after adding 6% CLS, the hardness, adhesiveness, and springiness of the sample were increased, which assist with maintaining the shape of the printed material and improve the printing stability of the sample. Moreover, the water holding capacity of shrimp surimi increased as a result of the addition of 6% CLS. Like many phase‐change materials, GeTe crystallizes upon heating at a conventional rate before the calorimetric glass transition is reached. This has so far prevented an unambiguous determination of its glass transition temperature Tg. Herein, a new approach is realized to estimate the glass transition temperature Tg for GeTe through progressive crystallization of Ge15Te85. Selective crystallization of pure tellurium during sub‐Tg annealing leads to a gradual change in the composition of the amorphous surrounding toward that of GeTe. Direct immobilization of versatile 9‐amino(9‐deoxy)epi‐cinchona alkaloids without molecule modification to achieve heterogeneous organocatalysis is of interest in the low‐cost production of optically active compounds. In this paper, an exquisite "ship‐in‐a‐bottle" strategy for direct and simple immobilization of 9‐amino‐(9‐deoxy)epi‐quinine (QNNH2) into hollow polystyrene nano‐bowl with imprinted free space around −SO3H was developed via acid‐base reaction and radical polymerization. The heterogeneous organocatalyst with 0.44 mmol g−1 of QNNH2 and 0.48 mmol g−1 of residual −SO3H possessed fast mass transfer due to the characteristic architectural features, such as thin shell thickness, free space around catalytic site, and hollow interior. In heterogeneous acetal hydrolysis/asymmetric aldol tandem reaction, good to excellent catalytic performances (90–95 % yields, anti/syn=88/12–96/4, and 97–99 % ee anti) for acetals bearing electron‐withdrawing substituents (R=o, m, p‐NO2, Cl) were achieved. While it is broadly known that solid compounds may exist in distinct crystalline arrangements (polymorphs), the notion that some liquids may also adopt distinct phases with dissimilar structures and densities is much less widespread. One of the reasons is that these liquid‐liquid (L‐L) transitions often occur in the supercooled equilibrium regime below the melting line and can be challenging to observe experimentally. Glass‐forming liquids that supercool over significant temperature ranges can therefore constitute useful systems for investigating these transitions. In this paper we review experimental evidence for L‐L transitions in chalcogenide systems. In that respect, L‐L transitions are found to be associated with transitions from fragile to strong viscous behavior in these glass‐forming liquids. Moreover, they are signaled by extrema in multiple thermodynamic functions and sharp change in physical properties such as electrical conductivity. Finally, while the physical principles underlying these transitions are still unclear, they have been shown to play a critical role in the function of PCMs that are poised to transform fast computing technologies. Apple trees are extensively cultivated worldwide but are often affected by zinc (Zn) deficiency. Limited knowledge regarding Zn remobilization within fruit crops has hampered the development of efficient strategies for providing adequate amounts of Zn. In the present study, Zn distribution and remobilization were compared among apple trees cultivated under different Zn conditions. Without Zn application, plants showed visible symptoms of Zn deficiency at the shoot tips after 1 year but appeared to grow normally during the first 6 months (early stage of Zn deficiency). Compared with apple plants under sufficient Zn treatment, plants suffering from early‐stage Zn deficiency showed preferential Zn distribution to young leaves and higher Zn levels in phloem, demonstrating that hidden Zn deficiency triggers a highly efficient remobilization of Zn in this species. The in vivo Zn‐nicotianamine complex in phloem tissues, combined with the significant enhanced expression of MdNAS3 and MdYSL6, suggested a positive role for nicotianamine in the phloem remobilization of Zn. These results strongly suggest that a proportion of Zn in the old leaves of apple trees can be efficiently remobilized by phloem transport to the shoot tips, partially in the form of Zn‐nicotianamine, thus protecting apple trees against the early stages of Zn deficiency. The existing lack of knowledge related to the remobilization of zinc by phloem transport in fruit crops leads to the very limited and variable‐ultimate efficacy of foliar zinc fertilizer in woody plants. Our study addressed this problem by comparing the mobility of zinc in apple trees in response to different Zn levels and explored the mechanism underlying the observed high‐efficient phloem remobilization of zinc during the early stages of Zn deficiency. This is the first study revealing that early‐stage zinc deficiency triggers a nicotianamine‐mediated highly efficient phloem transport system that remobilizes zinc to new growth tissues in apple plants. At present, repair methods for peripheral nerve injury often fail to get satisfactory result. Although various strategies have been adopted to investigate the microenvironment after peripheral nerve injury, the underlying molecular mechanisms of neurite outgrowth remain unclear. In this study, we evaluate the effects of exosomes from gingival mesenchymal stem cells (GMSCs) combined with biodegradable chitin conduits on peripheral nerve regeneration. GMSCs were isolated from human gingival tissue and characterized by surface antigen analysis and in vitro multipotent differentiation. The cell supernatant was collected to isolate the exosomes. The exosomes were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, Western blot, and size distribution analysis. The effects of exosomes on peripheral nerve regeneration in vitro were evaluated by coculture with Schwann cells and DRGs. The chitin conduit was prepared and combined with the exosomes to repair rat sciatic nerve defect. Histology, electrophysiology, and gait analysis were used to test the effects of exosomes on sciatic nerve function recovery in vivo. We have successfully cultured GMSCs and isolated exosomes. The exosomes from GMSCs could significantly promote Schwann cell proliferation and DRG axon growth. The in vivo studies showed that chitin conduit combined with exosomes from GMSCs could significantly increase the number and diameter of nerve fibers and promote myelin formation. In addition, muscle function, nerve conduction function, and motor function were also obviously recovered. In summary, this study suggests that GMSC-derived exosomes combined with biodegradable chitin conduits are a useful and novel therapeutic intervention in peripheral nerve repair. The rapid and accurate calculation of solvent accessible surface area (SASA) is extremely useful in the energetic analysis of biomolecules. For example, SASA models can be used to estimate the transfer free energy associated with biophysical processes, and when combined with coarse-grained simulations, can be particularly useful for accounting for solvation effects within the framework of implicit solvent models. Totally 270 wheat samples with ten genotypes of 2010/2011, 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 from three regions were collected, and the multi-elemental compositions (Mg, Al, Ca, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, As, Sr, Mo, Cd, Ba, Pb) were analysed with high-resolution inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry ( HR- ICP- MS). Multiway analysis of variance was employed to investigate the influences of region, genotype, harvest year and their interactions on all elements. The contribution rates of variances were computed, and the results showed that the elements of Mn, Sr, Mo and Cd were closely related to region explaining 34.2%, 39.6%, 35.0% and 78.8% of the total variation, respectively. The genotype contributed most for the variation of Ba, accounting for 27.3%, and the other elements were affected by the harvest year. Mn, Sr, Mo and Cd can be used for establishing the robust discriminant model with the correct classification rate of 98.5% to identify the geographical origin of wheat. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Zhongning wolfberry is a famous geographical indication ( GI) in China. The concentrations of twenty elements (K, Mg, Fe, Ca, Zn, Cu, Mn, Al, Sr, Rb, Mo, Tb, Cd, Co, V, As, Cs, Pr, Dy and Gd) in samples were determined using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The data were subjected to analysis of variance, principal component analysis and linear discriminant analysis. The results indicated that nineteen minerals (except K) represented significant differences among regions. The correct classification rates of original group and cross-validation of Zhongning wolfberry were 95.7% and 85.7%, for these nineteen variables. Furthermore, there was no significant difference for all variables in samples from three picking periods. It was feasible to distinguish Zhongning wolfberry based on mineral profiles with chemometric approaches, and the study could serve as a reference for the authentication of wolfberries and the prevention of deceptive labelling of other GI products. Extreme precipitation occurs frequently because of hydrological variability, resulting in humid cities facing serious waterlogging problems. Previous studies about rainstorms had emphasized on spatial-temporal distribution characteristics, but rarely on rainfall pattern (RP).With a typical humid city in southern China, such as Guangzhou City in Guangdong Province as the research object, hourly precipitation data from January 2009 to October 2014 are collected from five meteorological stations in Guangzhou. The data are counted and classified by fuzzy mode recognition method according to seven typical rainfall patterns (STRP) and the Huff rainfall pattern (Huff RP). Subsequently, the distributive characteristics of urban rainstorm pattern (RSP) are analyzed. The main results obtained are as follows: (1) annual rainstorm days have high positive correlation with rainfall days, and the annual amount of rainstorm contributes to 7.5-50.5% of the annual total rainfall in Guangzhou, (2) large-scale rainfall is highly possible to occur in Guangzhou, (3) most rainstorms in Guangzhou are unimodal, of which the frontal peak is more than 70%, and (4) STRP are appropriate for RSP division in Guangzhou City. The mechanism of isoprenaline exerting its effects on cardiac pacemaking and driving in sick sinus syndrome is controversial and unresolved. In this paper, mathematical models for rabbit sinoatrial node cells were modified by incorporating equations for the known dose-dependent actions of isoprenaline on various ionic channel currents, the intracellular Ca2+ transient, and iNa changes induced by SCN5A gene mutations; the cell models were also incorporated into an intact SAN-atrium model of the rabbit heart that is based on both heterogeneities of the SAN electrophysiology and histological structure. Our results show that, in both central and peripheral cell models, isoprenaline could not only shorten the action potential duration, but also increase the amplitude of action potential. The mutation impaired the SAN pacemaking. Simulated vagal nerve activity amplified the bradycardic effects of the mutation. However, in tissue case, the pacemaker activity may show temporal, spatial, or even spatiotemporal cessation caused by the mutation. Addition of isoprenaline could significantly diminish the bradycardic effect of the mutation and the SAN could restart pacing and driving the surrounding tissue. Bacillus cereus, Listeria monocytogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus caused problems in public health and food safety. A multiplex real‐time PCR (qPCR) for simultaneous detection of these three pathogens in different kinds of food was developed. A high specificity (100%) was obtained using 21 target strains and 19 nontarget strains. Standard curves for pure cultures covered seven orders of magnitude (from 108 to 102 cfu/ml) with high amplification efficiencies ranging from 94.2 to 105.4% with R‐squares over 0.999. When multiplex qPCR was applied for artificially contaminated cherry tomato, milk, and spam samples, a detection limit of 103 cfu/g or ml was obtained for these three bacteria. When low levels (0.4–5.5 cfu/25 g or ml) of bacteria were inoculated in three kinds of food samples and cultured in tryptic soy broth for 24 hr, results obtained from multiplex real‐time and conventional culture methods were not significantly different for all three food matrices based on Mantel–Haenszel chi‐square test. Only for B. cereus in milk, positive portions detected by qPCR were significantly higher than those detected by culture method. Hence, the multiplex qPCR developed in this study is highly specific and effective for simultaneous detection B. cereus, L. monocytogenes, and S. aureus in food samples. Practical applications: Bacillus cereus, Listeria monocytogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus are three major foodborne pathogens and have been found in a wide range of foods. We developed a multiplex qPCR specific targeting groEL, iap, and nuc genes with a high amplification efficiency. Different food samples (cherry tomato, milk, and spam) were tested for evaluating the performance of the multiplex qPCR. The detection results by qPCR were compared with the conventional culture methods and no significant differences were found using Mantel–Haenszel chi‐square test. This study provides the information of the developed multiplex qPCR for detecting three specific foodborne pathogens and applications in food samples, which will be helpful for further studies about simultaneous detection of several targets in food samples using multiplex PCR. The asymmetric unit of the title compound, 2C(8)H(9)N(2) (+)·C(10)H(6)O(6)S(2) (2-), contains a 2-methyl-benzimidazolium cation and one half of a naphthalene-1,5-disulfonate anion. The formula unit is generated by an inversion center. In the crystal, N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the components into chains along [001]. In addition, weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak C-H⋯π inter-actions are observed. The methyl H atoms were refined as disordered over two sets of sites with equal occupancy.
