Objective: To investigate the mechanism of the CXCL10/CXCR3 axis regulating Th1 cell differentiation and migration through the PI3K/AKT pathway in chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). Methods: Experimental autoimmune prostatitis (EAP) model, a well‐described and validated animal model of CP/CPPS, was used in our study. After treatment with CXCL10, the severity of EAP and Th1 cell proportion were respectively measured by HE stains, immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry. Then, the protein expression of the PI3K/AKT pathway in CXCL10/CXCR3‐regulated Th1 cell differentiation and migration was evaluated by western blotting. Additionally, by the CXCR3 antagonist AMG487 and the PI3K inhibitor LY294002 applications, the effects of CXCL10/CXCR3 through PI3K/AKT pathway on the Th1 cell differentiation and migration were further assessed. Results: The EAP model was successfully built. CXCL10 increased the proportion of Th1 cells in EAP mice, accompanied by upregulation of the PI3K/AKT pathway. Additionally, the PI3K/AKT pathway was found to be involved in CXCL10/CXCR3 axis‐mediated Th1 cell differentiation and migration. Conclusions: Our investigations indicate that the CXCL10/CXCR3 axis regulates Th1 cell differentiation and migration in EAP through the PI3K/AKT pathway, which provides a new perspective on the immunological mechanisms of CP/CPPS. Aims: The PIONEER‐HF and PARAGLIDE‐HF trials aimed to determine the efficacy and safety of the in‐hospital initiation of sacubitril/valsartan in patients hospitalized for AHF. However, whether the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the trials apply to patients encountered in real‐world routine care is unclear. This study aimed to investigate the applicability of the PIONEER‐HF and PARAGLIDE‐HF trials to real‐world AHF patients. Methods and results: We identified 28 293 AHF hospitalized patients between August 2008 to August 2017 from the Chang Gung Research Database and classified them into four groups based on left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and trial criteria. Cox proportional hazards models were used to compare the risk of HF hospitalization and cardiovascular (CV) death. We defined PIONEER‐HF eligible (n = 3683) and non‐eligible (n = 3502) patients with an LVEF ≤40%, and PARAGLIDE‐HF eligible (n = 5191) and non‐eligible (n = 5832) patients with an LVEF >40%. Over a mean follow‐up of 3.5 years, the PIONEER‐HF non‐eligible and eligible groups exhibited similar rates of HF hospitalization and CV death (41.1% vs. 41.8%, adjusted hazard ratio [aHR]: 0.95; 95% CI: 0.88–1.04). No significant difference was found in the composite outcome between PARAGLIDE‐HF non‐eligible and eligible groups (36.7% vs. 38.6%; aHR: 0.97; 95% CI: 0.90–1.04). Conclusions: Using trial criteria, only 31.3% of AHF patients were eligible for sacubitril–valsartan. Yet, non‐eligible patients demonstrated similar outcomes to eligible patients, indicating a need for further evaluation of sacubitril–valsartan benefits in non‐eligible AHF patients. Objective: Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a severe complication with high mortality. High plantar pressure and poor microcirculation are considered main causes of DFU. The specific aims were to provide a novel technique for real‐time measurement of plantar skin blood flow (SBF) under walking‐like pressure stimulus and delineate the first plantar metatarsal head dynamic microcirculation characteristics because of life‐like loading conditions in healthy individuals. Methods: Twenty young healthy participants (14 male and 6 female) were recruited. The baseline (i.e., unloaded) SBF of soft tissue under the first metatarsal head were measured using laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF). A custom‐made machine was utilized to replicate daily walking pressure exertion for 5 min. The exerted plantar force was adjusted from 10 N (127.3 kPa) to 40 N (509.3 kPa) at an increase of 5 N (63.7 kPa). Real‐time SBF was acquired using the LDF. After each pressure exertion, postload SBF was measured for comparative purposes. Statistical analysis was performed using the R software. Results: All levels of immediate‐load and postload SBF increased significantly compared with baseline values. As the exerted load increased, the postload and immediate‐load SBF tended to increase until the exerted load reached 35 N (445.6 kPa). However, in immediate‐load data, the increasing trend tended to level off as the exerted pressure increased from 15 N (191.0 kPa) to 25 N (318.3 kPa). For postload and immediate‐load SBF, they both peaked at 35 N (445.6 kPa). However, when the exerted force exceeds 35 N (445.6 kPa), both the immediate‐load and postload SBF values started to decrease. Conclusions: Our study offered a novel real‐time plantar soft tissue microcirculation measurement technique under dynamic conditions. For the first metatarsal head of healthy people, 20 N (254.6 kPa)‐plantar pressure has a fair microcirculation stimulus compared with higher pressure. There might be a pressure threshold at 35 N (445.6 kPa) for the first metatarsal head, and soft tissue microcirculation may decrease when local pressure exceeds it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

While proposing dual carbon strategy goals, research on carbon reduction in integrated energy systems (IESs) has become a focus of attention. Traditional IES carbon emission flow is mostly based on energy flow, without considering the differences in energy quality. Exergy can be used as a reasonable measure of energy quality. Combining the theory of exergy flow and carbon emission flow, a modeling and analysis method for IES carbon emission flow considering energy quality is proposed. First, exergy flow models for electric and natural gas systems, equivalent exergy flow models for heat systems, and exergy hub models are introduced. Afterward, the exergy branch losses are allocated to the nodes at both ends. A networked modeling method for the carbon emission flow of energy stations is proposed. A unified matrix calculation model for IES carbon emission flow considering energy quality is established. On this basis, an IES carbon emission flow calculation method considering energy quality is proposed. Finally, this method is applied to the test IES, and the results show that the carbon emission flow calculation results reflect the distribution of carbon emissions borne by the effective energy supplied by the source and consumed by the load in the system, taking into account both the quantity and quality of energy. Non‐traditional intrinsic luminescent (NTIL) polymer is an emerging field, and its color‐tunable modification is highly desirable but still rarely investigated. Here, a click chemistry approach for the color‐tunable modifications of NTIL polymers by introducing clickable polymerization‐induced emission luminogen (PIEgen), is demonstrated. Through Cu‐catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition click chemistry, a series of PIEgens is successful prepared, which is further polymerized via reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. Interestingly, after clickable modification, these monomers are nonemissive in both solution and aggregation states; while, the corresponding polymers exhibit intriguing aggregation‐induced emission (AIE) characteristics, confirming their PIEgen characteristics. By varying alkynyl substitutions, color‐tunable NTIL polymers are achieved with emission wavelength varying from 448 to 498 nm, revealing a series of PIEgens and verifying the importance of modification of NTIL polymers. Further luminescence energy transfer application is carried out as well. This work therefore designs a series of clickable PIEgens and opens a new avenue for the modification of NTIL polymers via click chemistry, which may cause inspirations to the research fields including luminescent polymer, NTIL, click chemistry, AIE and modification. Mental health disorders have become a global problem, garnering considerable attention. However, the root causes of deteriorating mental health remain poorly understood, with existing literature predominantly concentrating on socioeconomic conditions and psychological factors. This study uses multi‐linear and geographically weighted regressions (GWR) to examine the associations between built and natural environmental attributes and the prevalence of depression in US counties. The findings reveal that job sprawl and land mixed use are highly correlated with a lower risk of depression. Additionally, the presence of green spaces, especially in urban area, is associated with improved mental health. Conversely, higher concentrations of air pollutants, such as PM2.5 and CO, along with increased precipitation, are linked to elevated depression rates. When considering spatial correlation through GWR, the impact of population density and social capital on mental health displays substantial spatial heterogeneity. Further analysis, focused on two high depression risk clustering regions (northwestern and southeastern counties), reveals nuanced determinants. In northwestern counties, depression rates are more influenced by factors like precipitation and socioeconomic conditions, including unemployment and income segregation. In southeastern counties, population demographic characteristics, particularly racial composition, are associated with high depression prevalence, followed by built environment factors. Interestingly, job growth and crime rates only emerge as significant factors in the context of high depression risks in southeastern counties. This study underscores the robust linkages and spatial variations between built and natural environments and mental health, emphasizing the need for effective depression treatment to incorporate these multifaceted factors. Background: Cyclin‐dependent kinase inhibitor 2A/B (CDKN2A/B) homozygous deletion has been verified as an independent and critical biomarker of negative prognosis and short survival in isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)‐mutant astrocytoma. Therefore, noninvasive and accurate discrimination of CDKN2A/B homozygous deletion status is essential for the clinical management of IDH‐mutant astrocytoma patients. Purpose: To develop a noninvasive, robust preoperative model based on MR image features for discriminating CDKN2A/B homozygous deletion status of IDH‐mutant astrocytoma. Study Type: Retrospective. Population: Two hundred fifty‐one patients: 107 patients with CDKN2A/B homozygous deletion and 144 patients without CDKN2A/B homozygous deletion. Field Strength/Sequence:3.0 T/1.5 T Contrast‐enhanced T1‐weighted spin‐echo inversion recovery sequence (CE‐T1WI) and T2‐weighted fluid‐attenuation spin‐echo inversion recovery sequence (T2FLAIR). Assessment: A total of 1106 radiomics and 1000 deep learning features extracted from CE‐T1WI and T2FLAIR were used to develop models to discriminate the CDKN2A/B homozygous deletion status. Radiomics models, deep learning‐based radiomics (DLR) models and the final integrated model combining radiomics features with deep learning features were developed and compared their preoperative discrimination performance. Statistical Testing: Pearson chi‐square test and Mann Whitney U test were used for assessing the statistical differences in patients' clinical characteristics. The Delong test compared the statistical differences of receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and area under the curve (AUC) of different models. The significance threshold is P < 0.05. Results: The final combined model (training AUC = 0.966; validation AUC = 0.935; test group: AUC = 0.943) outperformed the optimal models based on only radiomics or DLR features (training: AUC = 0.916 and 0.952; validation: AUC = 0.886 and 0.912; test group: AUC = 0.862 and 0.902). Data Conclusion: Whether based on a single sequence or a combination of two sequences, radiomics and DLR models have achieved promising performance in assessing CDKN2A/B homozygous deletion status. Background: A referenced MRI‐based classification associated with focused ultrasound ablation surgery (FUAS) outcomes is lacking in adenomyosis. Purpose: To identify an MRI‐based classification system for informing the FUAS outcomes. Study Type: Retrospective. Population: Patients with FUAS for adenomyosis, were divided into a training set (N = 643; 355 with post‐FUAS gonadotropin‐releasing hormone/levonorgestrel, 288 without post‐FUAS therapy) and an external validation set (N = 135; all without post‐FUAS therapy). Field Strength/Sequence: 1.5 T, turbo spin‐echo T2‐weighted imaging and single‐shot echo‐planar diffusion‐weighted imaging sequences. Assessment: Five MRI‐based adenomyosis classifications: classification 1 (C1) (diffuse, focal, and mild), C2 (intrinsic, extrinsic, intramural, and indeterminate), C3 (internal, adenomyomas, and external), C4 (six subtypes on areas [internal or external] and volumes [<1/3 or ≥2/3]), and C5 (internal [asymmetric or symmetric], external, intramural, full thickness [asymmetric or symmetric]) for FUAS outcomes (symptom relief and recurrence). Statistical Tests: The optimal classification was significantly associated with the most subtypes of FUAS outcomes. Relating to the timing of recurrence was measured using Cox regression analysis and median recurrence time was estimated by a Kaplan–Meier curve. A P value <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Dysmenorrhea relief and recurrence were only associated with C2 in training patients undergoing FUAS alone. Compared with other subtypes, the extrinsic subtype of C2 was significantly associated with dysmenorrhea recurrence in the FUAS group. Besides, the median dysmenorrhea recurrence time of extrinsic subtype was significantly shorter than that of other subtypes (42.0 months vs. 50.3 months). In the validation cohort, C2 was confirmed as the optimal system and its extrinsic subtype was confirmed to have a significantly shorter dysmenorrhea recurrence time than other subtypes. Cinnamic ester is a common and abundant chemical substance, which can be extracted from natural plants. Compared with traditional esters, cinnamic ester contains α,β‐unsaturated carbonyl structure with multiple reactive sites, resulting in more abundant reactivities and chemical structures. Here, a versatile polymerization‐induced emission (PIE) is successfully demonstrated through Barbier polymerization of cinnamic ester. Attributed to its abundant reactivities of α,β‐unsaturated carbonyl structure, Barbier polymerization of cinnamic esters with different organodihalides gives polyalcohol and polyketone via 1,2‐addition and 1,4‐addition, respectively, which is also confirmed by small molecular model reactions. Meanwhile, these organodihalides dependant polyalcohol and polyketone exhibit different non‐traditional intrinsic luminescence (NTIL) from aggregation‐induced emission (AIE) type to aggregation‐caused quenching (ACQ) type, where novel PIE luminogens (PIEgens) are revealed. Further potential applications in explosive detection are carried out, where it achieves TNT detection sensitivity at ppm level in solution and ng level on the test paper. Electrical stimulation (ES) is proposed as a therapeutic solution for managing chronic wounds. However, its widespread clinical adoption is limited by the requirement of additional extracorporeal devices to power ES‐based wound dressings. In this study, a novel sandwich‐structured photovoltaic microcurrent hydrogel dressing (PMH dressing) is designed for treating diabetic wounds. This innovative dressing comprises flexible organic photovoltaic (OPV) cells, a flexible micro–electro–mechanical systems (MEMS) electrode, and a multifunctional hydrogel serving as an electrode–tissue interface. The PMH dressing is engineered to administer ES, mimicking the physiological injury current occurring naturally in wounds when exposed to light; thus, facilitating wound healing. In vitro experiments are performed to validate the PMH dressing's exceptional biocompatibility and robust antibacterial properties. In vivo experiments and proteomic analysis reveal that the proposed PMH dressing significantly accelerates the healing of infected diabetic wounds by enhancing extracellular matrix regeneration, eliminating bacteria, regulating inflammatory responses, and modulating vascular functions. Therefore, the PMH dressing is a potent, versatile, and effective solution for diabetic wound care, paving the way for advancements in wireless ES wound dressings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Carbon‐based single‐atom catalysts (SACs) have attracted tremendous interest in heterogeneous catalysis. However, the common electric heating techniques to produce carbon‐based SACs usually suffer from prolonged heating time and tedious operations. Herein, a general and facile microwave‐assisted rapid pyrolysis method is developed to afford carbon‐based SACs within 3 min without inert gas protection. The obtained carbon‐based SACs present high porosity and comparable carbonization degree to those obtained by electric heating techniques. Specifically, the single‐atom Ni implanted N‐doped carbon (Ni1−N−C) derived from a Ni‐doped metal–organic framework (Ni‐ZIF‐8) exhibits remarkable CO Faradaic efficiency (96 %) with a substantial CO partial current density (jCO) up to 1.06 A/cm2 in CO2 electroreduction, far superior to the counterpart obtained by traditional pyrolysis with electric heating. Mechanism investigations reveal that the resulting Ni1−N−C presents abundant defective sites and mesoporous structure, greatly facilitating CO2 adsorption and mass transfer. Flooding and climate warming lead to the increase of low‐molecular‐weight organic acid (LMWOA) inputs to soil. However, it is unclear what the effects of flooding and climate warming on soil nitrogen fraction transformation under LMWOA input are. Fluvisol was collected in the riparian zone of the Three Gorges Reservoir to conduct an incubation experiment with the treatments of three LMWOAs at five contents, two hydrological environments and two temperatures. Compared with LMWOA input of 0 mg kg−1, the soil nitrogen in ion exchangeable fraction (IEF‐N), strong oxidant extractable fraction (SOEF‐N) and non‐transformable nitrogen (NTF‐N) were increased by 35.77, 54.71 and 25.49 mg kg−1, respectively, under LMWOA input of 40 mmol kg−1. Soil nitrogen in the weak acid extractable fraction (WAEF‐N) was decreased by 117.41 mg kg−1. Microbial biomass nitrogen (MBN) was increased by 25.29 mg kg−1, and calcium carbonate (CaCO3) was decreased by 8.03 g kg−1. The contents of IEF‐N, NTF‐N and amorphous iron oxides were higher under the flooding environment than under the drying environment. In contrast, opposite results were observed for soil nitrogen in the strong alkali extractable fraction (SAEF‐N), SOEF‐N and MBN. IEF‐N and NTF‐N contents were higher at 20°C than at 30°C, and the contents of SOEF‐N and MBN were higher at 30°C than at 20°C. WAEF‐N was dissolved by LMWOA through CaCO3 dissolution. The dissolved WAEF‐N was partly transformed into SOEF‐N and NTF‐N by microbial assimilation and humification. Flooding desorbed SAEF‐N through the crystalline transformation of iron oxides. Flooding inhibited the transformation of IEF‐N to SOEF‐N and promoted the formation of NTF‐N, while warming did the opposite. The results provide a perspective of the bound state between soil and nitrogen for understanding the soil nitrogen cycling and help to assess the impacts of climate warming and flooding on soil nitrogen loss from soil to the surrounding water. To study the vacancy mechanism of In2O3, we apply the first‐principles method to study the influence of vacancy on the structural stability, electronic and optical properties of the rhombohedral In2O3. Two vacancies: In‐vacancy (V‐In) and O‐vacancy (V‐O) are considered here. The calculated results show that the rhombohedral In2O3 with In‐vacancy and O‐vacancy are thermodynamic and dynamical stabilities based on the vacancy formation energy and phonon dispersion. In particular, In‐vacancy has better thermodynamic stability in comparison to the O‐vacancy. Importantly, the rhombohedral In2O3 exhibits ultraviolet properties. However, two vacancies lead to the peak migration from the ultraviolet region to the visible light region. Furthermore, it is found that the calculated band gap of In2O3 with In‐vacancy is 1.07 eV, which is wider than the parent In2O3 (0.841 eV). Naturally, the wide band gap of In‐vacancy is that the removed In atom aggravates the difficulty of the electronic interaction between the conduction band and the valence band near the Fermi level. On the contrary, O‐vacancy shows metallic behavior because O‐vacancy (V‐O) enhances the electronic interaction near the Fermi level. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The properties of polyethylene are highly dependent on the variety and quantity of substitutions. Generally, polyethylene can only be fully substituted with fluorine atoms, mainly e. g. polytetrafluoroethylene and nafion, because atomic radius of fluorine atom is small enough. The preparation of fully substituted polyethylene analogues (FSPEA) and their non‐traditional intrinsic luminescence (NTIL) are attractive, especially for substitutions with relatively larger atomic radii than a fluorine atom. Here, Barbier polymerization‐induced emission (PIE) is demonstrated as a universal method for the molecular design of NTIL type FSPEAs with intriguing aggregation‐induced emission (AIE) behaviors. Through Barbier polymerization of diphenyldichloromethane and different peroxyesters in the presence of Mg in one pot, a series of FSPEAs, including polytriphenylethanol (PTPE), polydiphenylfurylethanol (PDPFE), polydiphenylthiophenylethanol (PDPTE) and polydiphenylnaphthylethanol (PDPNE) have been successfully prepared. Further potential applications for explosive detection, artificial light‐harvesting system and white phosphor‐converted light‐emitting diode are investigated. Therefore, this work opens up a new approach for the molecular design of FSPEA with non‐conjugated luminescence, which may cause inspirations to different research fields like polyolefin and luminescent materials. Wellbores are destabilized by the immersion of a formation in drilling fluid during deep well drilling. To address this issue, in the present study, trimethylolethane triallyl ether (TMETE), 2‐acrylamide‐2‐methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS), acrylamide, and N‐vinylpyrrolidone undergo free radical copolymerization to produce a PTAAN filter loss reducer. The Box–Behnken response surface method is used to optimize the synthesis of PTAAN; the optimal conditions are 1 wt% TMETE and 0.1111 wt% initiator at 60°C. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis are used to characterize the composition, micromorphology, and thermal stability of the PTAAN product, respectively. The synthesized product is resistant to high temperatures and salt under the optimal synthesis conditions. It has an API filtration loss of 8.2 mL for freshwater‐based mud, an API filtration loss of 13.8 mL for 20% by weight brine mud after aging at 220°C, and an API filtration loss of 29.5 mL at 150°C under high temperatures and pressures. Incorporating PTAAN into the base slurry prevents clay particle agglomeration at elevated temperatures and high mineralization, resulting in a broader clay particle size distribution and ultimately leading to the formation of a thin and compact filter cake. The glutathione (GSH) system is one of the most powerful intracellular antioxidant systems for the elimination of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and maintaining cellular redox homeostasis. However, the rapid kinetics information (at the millisecond to the second level) during the dynamic antioxidation process of the GSH system remains unclear. As such, we specifically developed a novel dual‐wire nanosensor (DWNS) that can selectively and synchronously measure the levels of GSH and ROS with high temporal resolution, and applied it to monitor the transient ROS generation as well as the rapid antioxidation process of the GSH system in individual cancer cells. These measurements revealed that the glutathione peroxidase (GPx) in the GSH system is rapidly initiated against ROS burst in a sub‐second time scale, but the elimination process is short‐lived, ending after a few seconds, while some ROS are still present in the cells. Due to the sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction (OER), electrocatalysts are urgently needed to simultaneously achieve increased activity, enhanced stability, and reduced cost. Herein, CoFePS quaternary alloy sub‐nanometric sheet is synthesized via synchronously phosphor‐sulfurizing CoFe‐bimetallene. Heteroatomization results in increasing conductivity, enhancing interactions with electrolyte, and improving chemical structural stability to exhibit a current density of 10 mA cm−2 at 211 mV and a large current of 1053 mA cm−2 at 570 mV. Density functional theory calculations reveal that the adjustment of Fermi levels of adjacent metal atoms reduces reaction energy barrier and accelerates electron transfer, resulting in a Tafel slope of 14 mV dec−1. A DABCO‐promoted bicyclization/rearrangement reaction has been developed for the synthesis of tetrasubstituted furans from 1,4‐enediones at room temperature. Surfactant‐free microemulsions (SFMEs) cleaning technology can effectively separate and recover petroleum pollutants from oil‐based drilling cuttings (OBDCs). The identification of the molecular composition of OBDCs is helpful to accurately grasp the conversion mechanism of organic matter. Therefore, the understanding of the mechanism of petroleum removal at the microscopic molecular level in the cleaning process needs to be further studied. The conversion mechanism of organic matter during the use of SFMEs to clean OBDCs was investigated by positive ion atmospheric pressure photoionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (+APPI FT‐ICR MS). The results show that the SFMEs cleaning technology can separate and recover CH and CHO organic matter in OBDCs, but there is still a small amount of organic matter with high molecular weight and unsaturated degree in OBDCs that has not been separated. The majority of this organic matter is CH, accounting for 91 %, and it is mainly polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. A total of 255 kinds of organic matter in 110# industrial white oil were detected in the recovered oil after treatment, accounting for more than 99 % of the total, which has a certain recoverable value. Objective: The alteration in the mechanical environment of the necrotic area is the primary cause of the collapse observed in osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH). This study aims to evaluate the biomechanical implications of the China‐Japan Friendship Hospital (CJFH) classification system and hip flexion angles on the necrotic area in ONFH using finite element analysis (FEA). The goal is to provide valuable guidance for hip preservation treatments and serve as a reference for clinical diagnosis and therapeutic interventions. Methods: Hip tomography CT scan data from a healthy volunteer was used to create a 3D model of the left hip. The model was preprocessed and imported into Solidworks 2018, based on the CJFH classification. Material parameters and boundary conditions were applied to each fractal model in ANSYS 21.0. Von Mises stresses were calculated, and maximum deformation values were obtained to evaluate the biomechanical effects of the load on the necrotic area and post‐necrotic femur, as well as assess each fractal model's collapse risk. Results: (1) At the same hip flexion angle, maximum deformation followed this order: M Type < C Type < L Type. The L3 type necrotic area experienced the most significant deformation at 0, 60, and 110° angles (1.121, 1.7913, and 1.8239 mm respectively). (2) Under the same CJFH classification, maximum deformation values increased with hip flexion angle (0 < 60 < 110°), suggesting a higher risk of collapse at larger angles. (3) Von Mises stress results showed that the maximum stress was not located in the necrotic area but near the inner and outer edge of the femoral neck, indicating decreased stiffness and strength of the subchondral bone after osteonecrosis. Conclusion: The study found that femoral head collapse risk was higher when the necrotic area was located in the lateral column under the same stress load and flexion angle. Mechanical properties of the necrotic area changed, resulting in decreased bone strength and stiffness. Large‐angle hip flexion is more likely to cause excessive deformation of the necrotic area; thus, ONFH patients should reduce or avoid large‐angle hip flexion during weight‐bearing training in rehabilitation activities. Objective: To explore the association between CA125 and dysmenorrhea in adenomyosis, and the factors affecting CA125 in adenomyosis. Methods: Patients were grouped a the presence of dysmenorrhea. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was applied to assess the utility of CA125 for dysmenorrhea. Binary logistic regression was employed to identify the factors associating dysmenorrhea and CA125 level. Results: Patients in the dysmenorrhea group had higher CA125 levels than those in the non‐dysmenorrhea group. For those with dysmenorrhea, CA125 levels of diffuse subtype group were higher than those of the focal subtype group. The CA125 level of 35 U/mL was validated as the optimal cut‐point for dysmenorrhea in ROC curves. Compared with patients whose CA125 was 35 U/mL or less, those with CA125 levels greater than 35 U/mL were more likely to have dysmenorrhea. Thereafter, the multiple regression analysis showed that adenomyotic lesion volume was positively correlated with CA125 level in the total cohort and subtype groups, while age was negatively correlated with CA125 level in the total cohort and diffuse subtype. Conclusions: The pathogenesis of adenomyosis is not clear. CA125 was associated with dysmenorrhea in adenomyosis, and, furthermore, CA125 level is positively correlated with the severity of the disease. The Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) connects everything with intelligence, while the increase in energy consumption generated by numerous electronic devices puts forward an impending demand on the power supply. Energy harvesting technology has emerged as a compelling innovation technology for the net zero emissions of the power supply for the AIoT. Although significant advances have been witnessed in energy harvesting, some issues such as poor electrical output, weak environmental adaptability, and low reliability are difficult to satisfactorily resolve. Mechanical intelligent energy harvesting can be defined as the system identifying the external excitation or its own state and reacting to it, rather than relying on electrical sensing elements or a central controller for certain adaptive or programmed functions. The adaptive and programmed functions exhibit great potential in solving the above‐mentioned issues that seriously restrict the development of the energy harvesting technology. Here, a generalized definition of mechanical intelligent energy harvesting is given critically and the design methodology is elaborated. The typical reported energy harvesting systems with the characteristics of mechanical intelligence are reviewed. The key research directions in mechanical intelligent energy harvesting are discussed. The development of novel polymerization capable of yielding polymers with low molecular weight distribution (Đ) is essential and significant in polymer chemistry, where monofunctional initiator contains only one initiation site in these polymerizations generally. Here, ketyl radical anion species is introduced to develop a novel Ketyl Mediated Polymerization (KMP), which enables radical polymerization at carbon radical site and anionic ring‐opening polymerization at oxygen anion site, respectively. Meanwhile, polymerization and corresponding organic synthesis generally couldn't be performed simultaneously in one pot. Through KMP, organic synthesis and polymerization are achieved in one pot, where small molecules (cyclopentane derivates) and polymers with low Đ are successfully prepared under mild condition simultaneously. At the initiation step, both organic synthesis and polymerization are initiated by single electron transfer reaction with ketyl radical anion formation. Cyclopentane derivates are synthesized through 3–3 coupling reaction and cyclization. Polystyrene and polycaprolactone with low Đ and a full monomer conversion are prepared by KMP via radical polymerization and anionic ring‐opening polymerization, respectively. This work therefore enables both organic synthesis and two different polymerizations from same initiation system, which saves time, labour, resource and energy and expands the reaction mode and method libraries of organic chemistry and polymer chemistry. This article discusses a case study of a 32-year-old female who presented with cobblestone-like plaques on her lower extremity, resembling elephantiasis. The patient had previously undergone dermatoplasty for suspected elephantiasis, but the current lesions were found to be eccrine syringofibroadenoma (ESFA), a rare cutaneous adnexal neoplasm. The histopathological examination revealed anastomosing epithelial strands extending from the epidermis into the dermis, with ductal differentiation. The authors suggest that the ESFA in this case may be reactive to the scars, chronic inflammation, and lymphedema. The recommended treatment is complete excision, but unfortunately, the patient was lost to follow-up. Magnetic levitation (MagLev) is a promising technology for density‐based analysis and manipulation of nonmagnetic materials. One major limitation is that extant MagLev methods are based on the static balance of gravitational‐magnetic forces, thereby leading to an inability to resolve interior differences in density. Here a new strategy called "dynamically rotating MagLev" is proposed, which combines centrifugal force and nonlinear magnetic force to amplify the interior differences in density. The design of the nonlinear magnetic force in tandem with centrifugal force supports the regulation of stable equilibriums, enabling different homogeneous objects to reach distinguishable equilibrium orientations. Without reducing the magnetic susceptibility, the dynamically rotating MagLev system can lead to a relatively large change in orientation angle (∆ψ > 50°) for the heterogeneous parts with small inclusions (volume fraction VF = 2.08%). The rich equilibrium states of levitating objects invoke the concept of levitation stability, which is employed, for the first time, to characterize the spatial density heterogeneity of objects. Exploiting the tunable nonlinear levitation behaviors of objects provides a new paradigm for developing operationally simple, nondestructive density heterogeneity characterization methods. Comprehensive Summary: Nucleophilic substitution reaction and 1,3‐dicarbonyl compounds play significant roles in organic chemistry, and non‐traditional intrinsic luminescence (NTIL) has become an emerging research area. Here, we demonstrate the successful nucleophilic substitution polymerization of 1,3‐dicarbonyl compounds, including acetylacetone, 3,5‐heptanedione, methyl acetoacetate, cyclopentane‐1,3‐dione, 1,3‐indandione, 1‐phenyl‐1,3‐butanedione and dibenzoylmethane, where reactive hydrogens at α position of 1,3‐dicarbonyl compounds are involved. Through this base catalyzed nucleophilic substitution polycondensation between 1,3‐dicarbonyl compounds and α,α'‐dibromo xylene, a series of nonconjugated poly(1,3‐dicarbonyl)s have been successfully prepared with high yield (up to >99%) under mild conditions. Investigations reveal that this nucleophilic substitution polycondensation exhibits self‐accelerating effect and flexible stoichiometry characteristics, which exhibits advantages over traditional polycondensation methods. This polymerization also exhibits intriguing polymerization‐induced emission (PIE) characteristics, where nonconjugated poly(1,3‐dicarbonyl)s exhibit intriguing chemical structure dependent aggregation‐induced emission (AIE) type NTIL. The cometabolism of ammonia‐oxidizing bacteria (AOB) in nitrifying activated sludge can effectively degrade antibiotics. However, the roles of other microorganisms in antibiotic removal processes remain uncharacterized. In this study, the effects of AOB, nitrite oxidizing bacteria (NOB), and heterotrophs on the removal of the antibiotic trimethoprim (TMP) at environmentally relevant concentrations in an enriched nitrifying activated sludge are quantified. AOB is found to be the most efficient for TMP removal, which is related with ammonium concentration. TMP removal is increased from 48.0% to 64.0% as the ammonium concentration increased from 50 to 150 mg L−1. However, with a further increase in ammonium concentration to 250 mg L−1, TMP removal is decreased to 45.6%. The percentages of TMP removed by AOB, NOB, and heterotrophs are quantified by batch experiments, and are 78.7%, 18.6%, and 2.7%, respectively. Summary: Arabidopsis RESISTANCE TO POWDERY MILDEW 8.2 (RPW8.2) is specifically induced by the powdery mildew (PM) fungus (Golovinomyces cichoracearum) in the infected epidermal cells to activate immunity. However, the mechanism of RPW8.2‐induction is not well understood.Here, we identify a G. cichoracearum effector that interacts with RPW8.2, named Gc‐RPW8.2 interacting protein 1 (GcR8IP1), by a yeast two‐hybrid screen of an Arabidopsis cDNA library.GcR8IP1 is physically associated with RPW8.2 with its REALLY INTERESTING NEW GENE finger domain that is essential and sufficient for the association. GcR8IP1 was secreted and translocated into the nucleus of host cell infected with PM. Association of GcR8IP1 with RPW8.2 led to an increase in RPW8.2 in the nucleus. In turn, the nucleus‐localized RPW8.2 promoted the activity of the RPW8.2 promoter, resulting in transcriptional self‐amplification of RPW8.2 to boost immunity at infection sites. Additionally, ectopic expression or host‐induced gene silencing of GcR8IP1 supported its role as a virulence factor in PM.Altogether, our results reveal a mechanism of RPW8.2‐dependent defense strengthening via altered partitioning of RPW8.2 and transcriptional self‐amplification triggered by a PM fungal effector, which exemplifies an atypical form of effector‐triggered immunity. There is a need to establish a novel dataset for the development of better Mura quantitative evaluation method. Our proposed Mura simulation and quantitative evaluation (MSQE) dataset consists of Mura simulation images and the corresponding quantitative evaluation values. For the Mura simulation images, the images are described in CIE 1931 XYZ space instead of traditional RGB space to achieve device‐independent on any display panels. For the quantitative evaluation values, the unique subjective quantitative evaluation value for each simulation image is obtained by subjective experiments conducted by different researchers, different observers, and on different panels, so that the uncertainty can be minimized by statistical analysis. The number of samples are growing with more simulation images and corresponding evaluation values being added into the dataset, so that more actual Mura patterns can be included into the dataset. Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder with a chronic relapsing course. Biologics have revolutionized the treatment of adult psoriasis with higher efficacy and favorable safety profile. Recently, more studies have focused on the use of biologics in pediatric psoriasis, and several biologics have been approved for use therein. This review is divided into two sections: the first part focuses on real‐world studies on the use of biologics in pediatric psoriasis and the second part summarizes the findings of other clinical trials related to biologics in pediatric psoriasis. Case reports have been excluded from this review. Several biologics were used for treating pediatric psoriasis and the efficacy is encouraging. According to the studies included in this review, anti‐IL‐12/23 and anti‐IL‐17A for treating pediatric psoriasis might have a better efficacy than anti‐TNF‐α, but more data are needed. Large‐scale rural‐to‐urban migration has shaped the socialization contexts of rural adolescents in China and can potentially impact their developmental outcomes. In this study, using data from the first wave of the China Education Panel Study collected in 2013, we focused on self‐efficacy, an important but under‐studied facet of noncognitive development, and assessed how it was influenced by family migration status. We also explored the mediating role of family and school resources. We compared three groups of rural‐origin adolescents with different family migration statuses: rural left‐behind children (LBC), rural not‐left‐behind children (NLBC), and rural‐to‐urban migrant children (MC). Structural equation modeling was performed to estimate the main effects of rural‐origin groups on self‐efficacy and the mediating effects of family income, family social capital, and school social capital for the significant group effects on self‐efficacy. We found similar levels of self‐efficacy among MC and NLBC, who in turn, exhibited greater self‐efficacy than LBC. Discrepancies in family and school resources mediated the self‐efficacy gaps between LBC and their MC and NLBC counterparts. Notably, when their disadvantages in family and school resources were controlled for, LBC were more efficacious than MC and NLBC, indicating LBC's resilience and the potential for promoting self‐efficacy in LBC by providing adequate resources and support. Background: The use of proteasome inhibitors (PIs), new immune modulators (IMiDs), and other new drugs, as well as high‐dose chemotherapy combined with autologous stem cell transplantation has considerably improved the survival of young patients with multiple myeloma (MM). However, the improvement in survival among elderly patients remains insufficient. Optimal treatment recommendation models for elderly patients with MM have not been developed especially there are quite few study in the real world. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the treatment patterns and outcomes of 328 Chinese patients (≥65 years) with MM in a real‐world setting. Patients were divided into three groups according to induction regimens. Results: The median age of the cohort was 70 (65–86) years. The patients were divided into group 1 (PIs based regimens, n = 218), group 2 (IMiDs based regimens, n = 48) and group 3 (PIs + IMiDs, n = 62). Induction regimens in group 3 produced higher overall response rate than group 1 and 2 (85.42% vs. 71.08% vs. 66.67%, p = 0.016). The median follow‐up of the cohort was 30 (interquartile range [IQR] 18–36) months. For the entire cohort median progression‐free survival (PFS) was 26 (IQR 12.00–42.89) months and overall survival (OS) was 60 (IQR 40.00–67.20) months. The PFS were not significantly different among the three groups (28 months vs. 18 months vs. 26 months, p = 0.182). So were the OS (60 months vs. 59 months vs. not reached, p = 0.067). Multivariate analysis revealed that age >70 year, frailty status (Geriatric vulnerability score), induction efficacy < partial remission, and no maintenance treatment were independent poor prognostic factors for OS. Conclusion: Front‐line induction regimens combining PIs and IMiDs developed more deep response than single PI or IMiD based regimens. Objective: The weight losses after bariatric surgery are modulated by multiple factors in people with obesity. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been reported to show significant regulatory roles in adipose tissue. However, a serum miRNA signature to serve as a biomarker of sustained weight losses following bariatric surgery has not yet been established.Methods: MiRNA microarray was used to identify differentially expressed miRNAs in the serum of patients with an effective response after bariatric surgery compared with those without. Excess weight loss > 55% at 6 months after surgery was defined as an effective response.Results: Three miRNAs were shown to have a significantly differential expression between patients with or without an effective response following bariatric surgery. The miR-31-5p was downregulated, whereas miR-328-3p and miR-181a-5p were upregulated in the patients with effective responses compared with those without effective responses. Panels of the serum ratios of miR-328-3p/miR-31-5p or miR-181a-5p/miR-31-5p and individual BMI value exhibited good performance in preoperative prediction of treatment effectiveness. Bioinformatic analysis depicted that predicted targets of these miRNAs were involved in the regulation of the AMP-activated protein kinase signaling pathway.Conclusions: A circulating miRNA signature with clinical variables (BMI) can be a clinical biomarker to predict effectiveness following bariatric surgery. Trifunctional Cu‐mesh/Cu2O@FeO nanoarrays heterostructure is designed and fabricated by integrating Cu2O@FeO nanoarrays onto Cu‐mesh (CM) via an in situ growth and phase transformation process. It is successfully applied to efficiently mitigate the antibiotic pollution, including degradation of antibiotics, inactivation of antibiotic‐resistant bacteria (ARB), and damage of antibiotics resistance genes (ARGs). Under visible‐light irradiation, CM/Cu2O@FeO nanoarrays exhibit a superior degradation efficiency on antibiotics (e.g., up to 99% in 25 min for tetracycline hydrochloride, TC), due to the generated reactive oxygen species (ROS), especially the dominant ·O2−. It can fully inactivate E. coli (HB101) with initial number of ~108 CFU mL−1 in 10 min, which is mainly attributed to the synergistic effects of 1D nanostructure, dissolved metal ions, and generated ROS. Meanwhile, it is able to damage ARGs after 180 min of photodegradation, including tetA (vs TC) of 3.3 log10, aphA (vs kanamycin sulfate, KAN) of 3.4 log10, and tnpA (vs ampicillin, AMP) of 4.4 log10, respectively. The Barbier reaction, a classical name reaction for carbon‐carbon bond formation, has played important roles in organic chemistry for over 120 years. The introduction of the Barbier reaction into polymer chemistry for the development of a novel Barbier polymerization, expands the methodology, monomer, chemical structure and property libraries of polymerization, aggregation‐induced emission (AIE) and non‐traditional intrinsic luminescence (NTIL). This mini review focuses on Barbier polymerization, including the brief introduction of the history and importance of polymerization methods design and the achievements of Barbier polymerization from molecular design strategies, functionalities and properties. Summary: Rice production is threatened by multiple pathogens. Breeding cultivars with broad‐spectrum disease resistance is necessary to maintain and improve crop production. Previously we found that overexpression of miR160a enhanced rice blast disease resistance. However, it is unclear whether miR160a also regulates resistance against other pathogens, and what the downstream signaling pathways are.Here, we demonstrate that miR160a positively regulates broad‐spectrum resistance against the causative agents of blast, leaf blight and sheath blight in rice. Mutations of miR160a‐targeted Auxin Response Factors result in different alteration of resistance conferred by miR160a. miR160a enhances disease resistance partially by suppressing ARF8, as mutation of ARF8 in MIM160 background partially restores the compromised resistance resulting from MIM160.ARF8 protein binds directly to the promoter and suppresses the expression of WRKY45, which acts as a positive regulator of rice immunity. Mutation of WRKY45 compromises the enhanced blast resistance and bacterial leaf blight resistance conferred by arf8 mutant.Overall, our results reveal that a microRNA coordinates rice broad‐spectrum disease resistance by suppressing multiple target genes that play different roles in disease resistance, and uncover a new regulatory pathway mediated by the miR160a‐ARF8 module. Background: Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease that causes disabilities and deformities. Early detection is a major strategy for leprosy control. This study reported a new practice of suspicious symptom monitoring for early detection of leprosy. Methods: A descriptive and comparative analysis between a non‐strategy group of pre‐implementation of suspicious symptom monitoring in 2005–2011 and a strategy group of strategy implementation in 2012–2018 was conducted through indicators of the number of times of misdiagnoses, delayed period, proportion of early detected cases, and proportion of disabilities. Result: Compared with the non‐strategy group in 2005–2011, the median number of times of misdiagnoses was decreased from two times to zero times (z = 4.387, P < 0.001), and the median delayed period of newly detected cases were shortened from 24 months to 13 months (z = 2.381, P < 0.001), the proportion of early detected cases was increased from 43.7% to 75.2% (χ2 = 29.464, P < 0.001), the proportion of grade 2 disabilities was decreased from 28.6% in the highest year of 2005 to 4.0% in the lowest year of 2014, and the average proportion of disabilities was decreased from 33.5% to 17.6% (χ2 = 9.421, P = 0.002) in the strategy group in 2012–2018, respectively. Conclusion: Suspicious symptom monitoring promoted early detection of cases by reducing the number of times misdiagnosis of leprosy patients, shortening the delayed period, increasing the proportion of early detection, and decreasing the proportion of disabilities. Summary: Rice false smut caused by Ustilaginoidea virens is becoming one of the most recalcitrant rice diseases worldwide. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying rice immunity against U. virens remain unknown.Using genetic, biochemical and disease resistance assays, we demonstrated that the xb24 knockout lines generated in non‐Xa21 rice background exhibit an enhanced susceptibility to the fungal pathogens U. virens and Magnaporthe oryzae. Consistently, flg22‐ and chitin‐induced oxidative burst and expression of pathogenesis‐related genes in the xb24 knockout lines were greatly attenuated.As a central mediator of energy signaling, SnRK1A interacts with and phosphorylates XB24 at Thr83 residue to promote ATPase activity. SnRK1A is activated by pathogen‐associated molecular patterns and positively regulates plant immune responses and disease resistance. Furthermore, the virulence effector SCRE1 in U. virens targets host ATPase XB24. The interaction inhibits ATPase activity of XB24 by blocking ATP binding to XB24. Meanwhile, SCRE1 outcompetes SnRK1A for XB24 binding, and thereby suppresses SnRK1A‐mediated phosphorylation and ATPase activity of XB24.Our results indicate that the conserved SnRK1A‐XB24 module in multiple crop plants positively contributes to plant immunity and uncover an unidentified molecular strategy to promote infection in U. virens and a novel host target in fungal pathogenesis. Phosphorescent organic light‐emitting diodes (PhOLEDs) with multiple functional layers are favorable for high device performance. However, due to the erosion between functional layers, it is still a great challenge to prepare multilayer devices with a low‐cost solution process. In this manuscript, 4,4′‐bis (4‐vinylphenyl) triphenylamine (VBTPA) can be in‐situ polymerized as the thermally crosslinkable hole transport layer and successfully applied to solution‐processed green light PhOLEDs by spin‐coating method. It had the styryl groups as the thermally crosslinking position and can be crosslinked at 175°C with short crosslinking time (20 min). The high thermal stability (446.0°C), good photoelectric property and excellent solvent resistance and so forth, made the crosslinked VBTPA achieve a good device performance in solution‐processed PhOLEDs. The turn‐on voltage was 6.1 V, the maximum luminance was 8271 cd m−2 and the maximum current efficiency was 12.4 cd A−1. It indicated that the hole transport material with styryl groups as the thermally crosslinking position can be crosslinked under lower temperature (<200°C) for shorter time and applied to the preparation of multilayer solution‐processed stacked PhOLEDs. Luminescent polymer materials have gained considerable research efforts in the past decades and are generally molecular designed by extending the π system of the polymer main chain or by incorporating chromophores into the polymer chain, which suffer from poor solubility, difficult synthesis, or multi‐step procedures. Meanwhile, according to the step‐growth polymerization theory, synthesis of hyperbranched polymers from an AB‐type monomer is still challenging. Herein, we report a one‐pot synthesis of nonconjugated luminescent hyperbranched polymer material via Barbier hyperbranching polymerization‐induced emission (PIE) from an AB‐type monomer. The key step in the realization of the hyperbranched polymer is bi‐functionalization of a mono‐functional group. Through a Barbier reaction between an organohalide and an ester group in one pot, bi‐functionalization of mono‐functional ester is realized through two‐step nucleophilic additions, resulting in hyperbranched polytriphenylmethanols (HPTPM). Attributed to through‐space conjugation and inter‐ and intramolecular charge‐transfer effects induced by polymer chain, nonconjugated HPTPMs are PIEgens, which are tunable by monomer structure and polymerization time. When all phenyl groups are rotatable, HPTPM is aggregation‐induced emission type PIEgen. Whereas, it is aggregation‐caused quenching type PIEgen if some phenyl groups are rotation forbidden. Further potential applications of PIEgen are in the fields of explosive detection and artificial light harvesting systems. This work, therefore, expands the monomer library and molecular design library of hyperbranched polymers through "bi‐functionalization of mono‐functional group" strategy, which eventually expands the preparation library of nonconjugated luminescent polymer materials through one‐pot PIE from nonemissive monomer. Due to the limitations of dielectric, insulating and mechanical properties, pure polymers could not satisfy the requirements of technological development. Using inorganic fillers with excellent performance to modify it is the mainstream method at present. Ternary hybrid polymer composites can use fillers with excellent dielectric properties to improve their dielectric properties, showing potential in improving electrical insulation, dielectric, and other fields. In this work, fluorene polyester (FPE) films of different components are prepared by the solution blending method using zero‐dimensional silica (SiO2) nanoparticles and two‐dimensional boron nitride nanosheets (BNNS) as fillers. Compared with SiO2/FPE composite films, ternary films exhibit better dielectric properties, short‐term breakdown strength and corona‐resistant lifetime. By investigating the interface features of BNNS, SiO2 nanoparticles and FPE matrix as well as the microstructure and properties of the films, the synergism mechanism of BNNS and SiO2 nanoparticles on the performance of FPE composite films is explored. The dielectric properties of the composites are investigated, including dielectric constant, breakdown strength, and corona‐resistant lifetime. This article focuses on clarifying the key role of BNNS in the electrical properties of ternary films and provides a theoretical basis for expanding the application of 2D materials in the field of high insulation. The evolution of sex determination (SD) in teleosts is amazingly dynamic, as reflected by the variety of different master sex‐determining genes identified. Pangasiids are economically important catfishes in South Asian countries, but little is known about their SD system. Here, we generated novel genomic resources for 12 Pangasiids and characterized their SD system. Based on a Pangasianodon hypophthalmus chromosome‐scale genome assembly, we identified an anti‐Müllerian hormone receptor type Ⅱ gene (amhr2) duplication, which was further characterized as being sex‐linked in males and expressed only in testes. These results point to a Y chromosome male‐specific duplication (amhr2by) of the autosomal amhr2a. Sequence annotation revealed that the P. hypophthalmus Amhr2by is truncated in its N‐terminal domain, lacking the cysteine‐rich extracellular part of the receptor that is crucial for ligand binding, suggesting a potential route for its neofunctionalization. Reference‐guided assembly of 11 additional Pangasiids, along with sex‐linkage studies, revealed that this truncated amhr2by duplication is a male‐specific conserved gene in Pangasiids. Reconstructions of the amhr2 phylogeny suggested that amhr2by arose from an ancient duplication/insertion event at the root of the Siluroidei radiation that is dated to ~100 million years ago. Together these results bring multiple lines of evidence supporting that amhr2by is an ancient and conserved master sex‐determining gene in Pangasiids, a finding that highlights the recurrent use of the transforming growth factor β pathway, which is often used for the recruitment of teleost master SD genes, and provides another empirical case towards firther understanding of dynamics of SD systems. Video laryngoscopy is often selected to assist nasotracheal intubation in allowing better laryngeal visualization, although there is no comparative study evaluating the effectiveness between auxiliary techniques by using Magill forceps and inflated cuff in GlideScope video laryngoscopy for nasotracheal intubation. Fifty‐one of 100 patients in a Magill forceps group and 47 of 100 patients in a cuff inflation group were included in the final analysis in this randomized, single‐blind, parallel, clinical trial study. Induction agents were routinely administered according to body weight, while intubation time spent, attempts, and related side effects were recorded. Compared to the Magill forceps group, the cuff inflation technique shortened the total intubation time (70.0 ± 24.5 s vs. 87.0 ± 25.0 s, p = 0.001) and the time of advancing the nasotracheal tube from oropharyngeal space into the trachea (25.9 ± 16.4 s vs. 42.3 ± 21.2 s, p < 0.001). However, the number of intubation attempts was not significantly different between groups. During tube advancement, the tube was rotated to accommodate the glottis and trachea more frequently in the cuff inflation group (p = 0.009), but the blade of the laryngoscope shifted and was adjusted to the proper position more frequently in the Magill forceps group (p < 0.001). In the Magill forceps group, the tube cuff might be clipped incidentally and the intubator might shift their gaze away from the screen during intubation, although there was no significant difference in intubation‐related side effects between groups. Unlike the conventional approach, nasotracheal intubation with the GlideScope® video laryngoscope using the auxiliary technique of cuff inflation could be more suited than using Magill forceps.
