Environmental concerns are growing in parts of the rural United States as drinking water wells become contaminated with agrichemicals, and climate change impacts such as drought and extreme rain events disrupt farming practices. Analyzing in‐depth interviews with 29 U.S. rural journalists, we explore the role rural journalists play when reporting on the environment as it relates to agricultural issues. Findings show that reporting about the environment—such as weather, climate change, water shortages, and droughts—appear in rural journalists' stories given those topics' relevance to their rural communities and the social systems forces exerting influence on journalists, yet rural journalists often do not perceive themselves as doing environmental reporting. Rural journalists also report lacking training and resources to do environmental reporting. Water scarcity, a challenge expected to worsen with climate change, significantly hinders native plant community restoration. Enhancing seed‐based restoration requires methods to increase the water availability for seeds and seedlings. Surfactants and superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) can improve soil water‐holding capacity and infiltration, but their use in seed enhancements remains underexplored. We investigated whether pellets containing surfactants or SAPs could improve seedling emergence of two native species (Rytidosperma caespitosum and Chrysocephalum apiculatum) common in temperate grasslands in south‐eastern Australia under different watering treatments. We used a randomized block design with five watering treatments to simulate predicted changes in precipitation for south‐eastern Australia: ambient, two reducing overall water volume, and two reducing watering frequency while increasing watering volume to maintain ambient treatment water volume. We explored four enhanced pellets (two containing surfactants and two containing SAPs) and non‐pelleted seeds. Our results showed that watering events with larger volumes but reduced frequency increased seedling emergence. Under these conditions, block co‐polymer surfactants further increased seedling emergence of C. apiculatum, while synthetic SAP pellets promoted emergence of R. caespitosum. Block co‐polymer surfactants decreased R. caespitosum emergence, and both SAPs reduced C. apiculatum emergence under reduced watering frequency. A 50% reduction in overall water volume significantly reduced seedling emergence for both species, regardless of seed enhancement. These findings suggest that surfactants and SAP pellets can improve the success of seed‐based restoration under ambient conditions and when rainfall events are larger in volume but reduced in frequency, but not when the overall volume of rainfall is reduced. Indigenous water treatment practices play a vital role, yet they remain underrecognized, in securing access to safe drinking water for rural communities across East Africa. This article performs a mini‐review of the most common traditional techniques used by most East African communities to purify drinking water regularly. Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania have been taken as representative countries in the region as they somehow share many social‐cultural aspects, including a common language (Swahili), transboundary tribes like Maasai (Kenya/Tanzania), and Bahaya (Uganda/Tanzania). The four main traditional water purification techniques identified: filtration using locally available media, solar disinfection, Moringa coagulation, and boiling as well as improved storage. Case studies documenting the effectiveness of these indigenous practices in removing microbial pathogens and meeting WHO guidelines are also examined. However, limitations around reliance on local resources, labor demands, hygiene risks, and the inability to consistently achieve standards challenge wider adoption. The article concludes by highlighting the need for participatory optimization of traditional methods through integration with scientific expertise in a manner respecting local contexts. Freshwater scarcity has become a critical global challenge affecting some of the most vulnerable populations. In response, significant effort has focused on ways to increase access to this precious resource. Within the context of geographical, cultural, political, and technological factors governing freshwater availability, atmospheric water harvesting (AWH) has demonstrated tremendous promise to help address these shortages. Specifically, mesh‐based fog harvesters have received considerable attention for their passive qualities compared with their energy‐dependent technological siblings (sorbents, condensation, etc.), yet their specific water yield (SY) has developed only modestly in recent decades. While the plant and animal kingdom provide diverse examples of passive fog collection, and science has developed a remarkable understanding of these processes, much of this knowledge has yet to be translated practically at scale. This is partially due to challenges in mass‐producing complex (often micro‐scale) structures observed in nature. Fortunately, manufacturing technology is catching up with scientific understanding, especially at the scale of mesh design. To this end, the review begins by surveying bioinspired research in fog harvesting. Afterward, this study identifies milestones in developing bioinspired fog harvesting meshes, concluding in a discussion of future mesh research opportunities connecting bioinspiration and emerging advanced manufacturing techniques. The growing water scarcity jeopardizes crop production for global food security, a problem poised to worsen under climate change–induced drought. Amending soils with locally derived biochar from pyrolyzed agricultural residues may enhance soil moisture retention and resilience, in addition to climate change mitigation. However, prior studies on the hydrologic benefits of biochar focused on optimal moisture, not water‐limited conditions where biochar's large wettable surface area could aid plants and microbes. We hypothesized that biochars differing in feedstocks would positively augment soil moisture and respiration, with overall impacts most beneficial under drier conditions. Using water vapor sorption isotherms, we used film theory to estimate the specific surface area (SSA) of biochars. We then modeled and tested the moisture retention of a coarse‐textured soil amended with biochar. Additionally, a 109‐day lab incubation experiment was also conducted to examine biochar effects on respiration across a moisture range spanning optimal to wilting point. Among seven tested biochars, almond shell biochar significantly increased soil moisture and yield the second highest SSA. Despite drying treatments, the amended soil maintained higher respiration than the control, indicating enhanced biological activity. The results demonstrate biochars counter drying effects in coarse soils through physical and biological mechanisms linked to increased sorptive capacity. Our findings contribute to the development of sustainable water and waste management strategies tailored to the needs of California Central Valley, where the potential for biochar application is substantial. Above all, our research fills a crucial gap by providing context‐specific insights that can inform the effective utilization of locally produced biochars in the face of increasing water scarcity and excess biomass challenges. Introduction: Peritoneal dialysis (PD) remains understudied in disaster nephrology. This retrospective multicenter study explores the experiences of PD survivors following the February 6, 2023, Kahramanmaraş Earthquake. Methods: Adult PD patients from 11 affected cities were analyzed to assess challenges faced during and postearthquake, alongside clinical outcomes. Results: Among 101 participants (median age: 45 years, median PD duration: 24 months), 57 were female, with 79 on continuous ambulatory PD. Challenges included power outages and water shortages, with primary shelter in kin's houses (33%) and homes (28%). Twelve patients experienced PD program delays, and three lacked assistance postdisaster. Sixteen patients changed PD modalities, with seven experiencing postearthquake peritonitis. Clinical parameters remained stable, except for a slight decrease in hemoglobin levels. Conclusion: Despite challenges, PD survivors exhibited resilience, highlighting the importance of addressing peritonitis and unusual pathogens in disaster preparedness initiatives. This study discusses the critical importance of sustainable access to clean water, particularly in regions facing severe water shortages. The study investigates the public perception of harvested rainwater as a solution to water scarcity in South Africa's semi arid regions. Conducted with 110 respondents, it explores demographics, rainwater harvesting practices, storage methods, and factors affecting satisfaction. Most households (39.6%) had four to six members, with a balanced gender distribution. Despite widespread unemployment (53.2%), 33.6% were graduates. Rainwater was harvested primarily during rainfall (64.9%), with 94.5% of the respondents collected from their own roofs. Storage methods included JoJo tanks (41.8%) and small buckets (54.5%). Concerningly, 95.5% did not test water quality, yet 64.5% found it acceptable. Regression analysis showed water quality significantly influenced satisfaction (b = 0.623, p < 0.005). The high prevalence of rainwater harvesting underscores its potential to address water shortages sustainably. Pakistan is on the brink of becoming a water‐scarce country as a result of a peak in population and rapid urbanization. This research investigates the awareness of water scarcity amongst the general public in Pakistan and their behaviour and attitude towards water conservation practices at the household level. The study incorporated the theory of planned behaviour to gain a better understanding of the phenomenon. Households were surveyed in Islamabad Capital City using a quantitative research approach. Descriptive analysis and Fischer's exact test were followed to measure the variables. Results demonstrated a significant awareness regarding water scarcity amongst the residents which influenced positive behaviour and attitudes towards water conservation in the households. Notably, the p‐value for water consumption patterns was found to be highly significant at 0.000 for activities such as laundry, gardening and car washing and less significant at 0.003 for bathing and 0.002 for housecleaning. It is concluded that water use is conditioned by dwelling characteristics and the types of devices employed in the houses. This comprehensive understanding is crucial for developing targeted interventions that resonate with diverse populations worldwide. Inter‐basin water transfer projects (WTPs) address water scarcity by lifting water uphill, posing energy challenges due to diverse topography. This study therefore analyses historical trends in WTP distance, average annual water volumes delivered, water lift and pumping capacity to develop the Water Transfer Energy Efficiency Index (WTEEI) and apply it for the assessment of WTPs. Results indicate that the WTEEI is a valuable tool for evaluating WTP energy efficiency. While no definitive trend in WTEEI values was observed, the findings suggest the need for monitoring of energy use of WTPs and more research to better understand and improve the energy efficiency of these large‐scale infrastructure projects. By introducing a simple, intuitive and rapid assessment tool for evaluating energy efficiency in WTPs, this study addresses a critical gap in the water–energy field, namely, the evaluation of energy usage in WTPs and the identification of energy‐efficiency improvements for current and future WTPs. The surging global population strains resources, escalating pollution, and exacerbating water scarcity. Sustainable water management necessitates alternative sources such as abandoned mine water. However, these sources often contain hazardous heavy metals, like lead, copper, iron, and manganese, posing grave health and environmental risks. Conventional methods struggle to effectively treat these heavy metals in abandoned mining ponds, urging the search for cost‐efficient and sustainable solutions. Biochar, particularly from spent mushroom compost (SMC), emerges as a potent adsorbent due to its high surface area and binding groups. Yet, the variability in its efficiency remains a challenge. Conventional empirical models fail to capture the dynamic nature of adsorption processes accurately. Adopting machine learning, specifically an adaptive neuro‐fuzzy inference system (ANFIS), shows potential in predicting adsorption efficiency. This study aims to employ ANFIS to forecast SMC biochar's performance in a lab‐scale metal retention pond, providing design charts for diverse initial metal concentrations and pH levels. Validation through real cases aims to enhance accuracy and establish a framework for future heavy metal adsorption capacities. This research offers a sustainable approach to removing heavy metals from abandoned mining ponds whereas the computational modeling in optimizing SMC biochar introduces a novel approach for practical applications. With the rapid growth of the population and the development of the economy, the shortage of freshwater resources has become a worldwide problem. Utilizing fog harvesting provides a practical solution to relieve the water shortage problem for residents in arid regions. This review summarizes the typical fog harvesting phenomena in nature in detail, the construction methods, fog harvesting performance, and the action mechanism of different biomimetic micro‐nano structures from one‐dimensional (1D), two‐dimensional (2D), and three‐dimensional (3D) perspectives. The influence of surface micro‐nano structure and wettability on water harvesting performance is analyzed. Finally, the challenges and future development directions of multi‐scale micro‐nano surface controllable water harvesting technology are summarized and prospected, which provides a good idea for the design of bioinspired micro‐nanomaterials and promotes water harvesting from scientific research to practical application. The Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) satellite provides valuable data to monitor groundwater variation. This study investigates groundwater dynamics in India during deficit and excess monsoon years. It finds possible interactions by exploring how groundwater levels respond to meteorological and hydrological conditions. Groundwater anomalies (GWA) are estimated using Terrestrial Water Storage Anomalies (TWSA) from GRACE and hydrological parameters from the Global Land Data Assimilation System (GLDAS). The statistical analysis reveals that the standard deviation is higher for hydrological parameters in summer (June to September), whereas it is higher in fall (October to November) for GWA in many parts of India. The modulation in hydrological parameters subsequently impacts GWA during the following seasons. The study reports increased groundwater across many parts of India during fall. However, groundwater decline is closely linked to unsaturated soil moisture from fall to winter (December to February). Groundwater storage is at its lowest levels during the following spring (March to May) over India. Four deficit and three excess summer monsoons occurred from 2002 to 2022. Composite analysis of GWA reveals that there is replenishment (depletion) of groundwater during the following fall and winter in excess (deficit). The analysis based on extreme deficit monsoon years (2002, 2009) and excess monsoon year (2019) reveals that during the deficit years, groundwater recharge is less, and excess monsoon year it is more; and is vice versa for GWA. The study reports decline in GWA during the summer 2019, which is attributed to the hydrological conditions of the preceding year and modulation of the hydrological processes. As climate variability and water scarcity become increasingly pressing issues, understanding the relationships between hydrological factors and groundwater dynamics is essential for ensuring sustainable water use and resilience to extremely varying climate conditions. Groundwater return flow to streams is important for maintaining aquatic habitat and providing water to downstream users, particularly in irrigated watersheds experiencing water scarcity. However, in many agricultural regions, increased irrigation efficiency has reduced return flows and their subsequent in‐stream benefits. Agricultural managed aquifer recharge (Ag‐MAR)—where artificial recharge is conducted via irrigation canals and agricultural fields—may be a tool to recover these return flows, but implementation is challenged by water supply and water management. Using climate‐driven streamflow simulations, an integrated operations‐hydrology model, and a regional groundwater model, we investigated the potential for Ag‐MAR to recover return flows in the Henrys Fork Snake River, Idaho (USA). We simulated potential Ag‐MAR operations for water years 2023–2052, accounting for both future water supply conditions and local water management rules. We determined that Ag‐MAR operations reduced springtime peak flow at the watershed outlet by 10%–14% after accounting for return flows. Recharge contribution to streamflow peaked in July and November, increasing July–August streamflow by 6%–14% and November–March streamflow by 9%–14%. Furthermore, sites where Ag‐MAR was conducted incidental to flood irrigation had more water available for recharge, compared to sites requiring recharge rights, which are junior in priority to agricultural rights. Mean annual recharge volume for the incidental recharge sites averaged 12% of annual natural streamflow, ranged from 269 to 335 Mm3, and was largely available in April and October. We demonstrate Ag‐MAR can effectively recover groundwater return flows when applied as flood irrigation on agricultural land with senior‐priority water rights. Plain Language Summary: Some water that seeps into the ground follows underground pathways and flows into rivers. This water is called groundwater return flow and is important in water‐scarce regions. Groundwater return flow increases streamflow and provides more water to farms and fish downstream but is decreasing in many agricultural regions. Agricultural managed aquifer recharge (Ag‐MAR) may be a tool to save these return flows. Ag‐MAR uses canals and agricultural fields to artificially increase the amount of water that seeps into the ground, but conducting Ag‐MAR can be difficult during water shortages and/or due to water management rules. We investigated the possibility of using Ag‐MAR to recover return flows in the Henrys Fork Snake River, Idaho (USA), accounting for both future water supply conditions and rules that limit access to water supply. We simulated 30 years of future conditions and found that water for Ag‐MAR is largely available at sites with senior‐priority water rights. We also found that conducting Ag‐MAR reduced peak springtime streamflows by 10%–14% but increased summer streamflow by 6%–14% and winter streamflow by 9%–14%. Drought is more frequent and intensified due to global warming. Changed conditions in Beijing‐Tianjin–Hebei region which is drier and warmer than before, make it necessary to investigate various optimized irrigation schemes in the winter wheat production. In this study, the DSSAT–CERES‐Wheat model verified by field experimental data was applied to simulate the yield of winter wheat in Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region from 2010 to 2069a under RCP8.5 climate scenario. The irrigation schemes were set up by adjusting the irrigation amount and irrigation structure to evaluate their adaptive capacity to climate change. The results showed that the regional average yield reduction rates of potential drought were 81.98% and 78.86% in 2010–2039a and 2040–2069a, which were higher in the north than that in the south. The yield reduction rate of potential drought increased with the decrease of irrigation amount, and the adaptive capacity declined with the decrease of irrigation amount, under the same irrigation structure. When 3‐9‐6 irrigation structure was applied, the regional averages of adaptive capacity to potential drought were 28.30%, 26.23%, and 22.22% in 2010–2039a, 29.00%, 26.67%, and 21.76% in 2040–2069a. The shortage of water resources caused by climate change and the possibility of drought limit the potential yield of winter wheat as high as 80% in this region. Priority shall be given to meeting the water demand in jointing stage and filling stage. Irrigation scheme of 3‐9‐6 structure with 180 mm irrigation amount shall be recommended and its adaptive capacity to climate change is the strongest in the near term and the medium‐term. Even if a further 20% reduction in irrigation is applied (144 mm), the dual goals of reducing yield loss and saving 8.28 × 108 t irrigation water per winter wheat season can be achieved. Despite approximately 70 % of the earth being covered by water, water shortage has emerged as an urgent social challenge. Sorbent‐based atmospheric water harvesting stands out as a potent approach to alleviate the situation, particularly in arid regions. This method requires adsorbents with ample working capacity, rapid kinetics, low energy costs, and long‐term stability under operating conditions. Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are a novel class of crystalline porous materials and offer distinct advantages due to their high specific surface area, structural diversity, and robustness. These properties enable the rational design and customization of their water‐harvesting capabilities. Herein, the basic concepts about the water sorption process within COFs, including the parameters that qualitatively or quantitatively describe their water isotherms and the mechanism are summarized. Then, the recent methods used to prepare COFs‐based water harvesters are reviewed, emphasizing the structural diversity of COFs and presenting the common empirical understandings of these endeavors. Maize (Zea mays L.) is an important food crop with a wide range of uses in both industry and agriculture. Drought stress during its growth cycle can greatly reduce maize crop yield and quality. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying maize responses to drought stress remain unclear. In this work, a WRKY transcription factor‐encoding gene, ZmWRKY30, from drought‐treated maize leaves was screened out and characterized. ZmWRKY30 gene expression was induced by dehydration treatments. The ZmWRKY30 protein localized to the nucleus and displayed transactivation activity in yeast. Compared with wild‐type (WT) plants, Arabidopsis lines overexpressing ZmWRKY30 exhibited a significantly enhanced drought stress tolerance, as evidenced by the improved survival rate, increased antioxidant enzyme activity by superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), and catalase (CAT), elevated proline content, and reduced lipid peroxidation recorded after drought stress treatment. In contrast, the mutator (Mu)‐interrupted ZmWRKY30 homozygous mutant (zmwrky30) was more sensitive to drought stress than its null segregant (NS), characterized by the decreased survival rate, reduced antioxidant enzyme activity (SOD, POD, and CAT) and proline content, as well as increased malondialdehyde accumulation. RNA‐Seq analysis further revealed that, under drought conditions, the knockout of the ZmWRKY30 gene in maize affected the expression of genes involved in reactive oxygen species (ROS), proline, and myo‐inositol metabolism. Meanwhile, the zmwrky30 mutant exhibited significant downregulation of myo‐inositol content in leaves under drought stress. Combined, our results suggest that ZmWRKY30 positively regulates maize responses to water scarcity. This work provides potential target genes for the breeding of drought‐tolerant maize. This article examines the situation of water scarcity and security in Mexico, with a focus on the drinking water supply issue in rural communities and the challenges posed by assessment methodologies. We conducted a comprehensive literature review to update the available information on the water crisis in Mexico and its impact on rural communities in the country, as well as the methodologies employed to assess water security and the methodological challenges associated with them. Among the most noteworthy findings is the persistent challenge in evaluating water scarcity and its implications for communities, due to the lack of consensus on the most precise methodology. Nevertheless, current methodological approaches suggest the integration of physical models with pertinent social, economic, and political data. The literature broadly agrees on the severity of the water scarcity crisis and the clear link between rural poverty and inadequate access to drinking water. Water scarcity is both a contributing factor to and a consequence of poverty, stemming from a complex interplay of socioeconomic pressures, inadequate institutional responses, and deficient water management. The paper concludes that water scarcity involves intricate interactions among various factors, encompassing physical water scarcity, pollution, and the impacts of climate change on the water cycle, and most critically, the complexities inherent in water management and regulatory frameworks. Therefore, the integration of well‐informed policies, effective management practices, and collaborative efforts is crucial for ensuring a prosperous and sustainable future. A recent article published in the Journal of the American Water Works Association provides a comprehensive analysis of water usage in the Colorado River Basin. The researchers found that irrigated agriculture is the largest consumer of Colorado River water, accounting for 74% of direct human use and 52% of overall water consumption. The study also highlights the need for detailed knowledge of water usage in order to develop strategies for sustainable water supply and demand. In another study, researchers from the University of Guelph investigated sulfolane, an emerging pollutant in groundwater across the Canadian prairies, and its impact on water quality and ecosystems. Finally, the US Department of Energy has renewed funding for the National Alliance for Water Innovation, which aims to develop technologies for desalination and water reuse to address the challenges of climate change and population growth. The effects of climate change and water scarcity threaten the stability of critical infrastructure systems in developing regions. In particular, the interconnectedness of energy systems, natural resources, economic growth, and social welfare requires a systems‐level framework to identify scenarios which most impact these systems. This paper evaluates and quantifies infrastructure system risk, defined as the influence of scenarios on system priorities. A scenario‐based multi‐criteria preferences model assesses system component priorities for a baseline scenario as well as climate and related scenarios. The shift in priorities between the baseline and other future scenarios define scenario disruptiveness, or level of risk. The methods are demonstrated for the case of the emerging renewable energy sector of Iraq. Twenty‐five renewable energy system assets are prioritized by an assessment of system success criteria, which include economic, social, political, and climate considerations. The system prioritization is reevaluated in the case of seven disruptive scenarios relating to water scarcity, climate volatility, and social and economic shifts. Climate related changes are already affecting every area of our world and will increasingly do so as global warming increases, resulting in compounding and cascading risks across multiple locations and sectors. Deliberative processes and anticipatory actions are required to adapt to the associated complex and uncertain systemic risks, with dynamic and long‐term planning needed even where there is limited knowledge of the effectiveness of adaptation. In this focus article, we examine the adaptation pathways developed for the Europe Chapter of the IPCC AR6. We argue that illustrative pathways built on quantitative and qualitative assessment of adaptation effectiveness can inform adaptation planning to manage the increasing severity of risks. We find that as the global warming level increases adaptation pathways can diverge, leading to radically different futures, for example, adaptation responses to sea level rise. We illustrate how adaptation measures for different risks interact resulting in trade‐offs, for example, increasing water scarcity. Although pathways offer a useful framework to address multiple adaptation challenges, other supporting conditions are needed for the successful implementation of adaptation, such as establishing legitimacy and buy‐in through collaboration of various actors and effective governance. Ultimately, adaptation will be increasingly more complex and constrained in a warmer world, increasing risks of losses and damages to people and nature. Drought is a serious global environmental issue that causes water resource scarcity and threatens agriculture and food supplements. This study aims to investigate the long‐term performance of an eco‐friendly technique‐microbial induced carbonate precipitation (MICP) on drought mitigation at field and laboratory scales. Seven in‐situ slopes treated with different MICP rounds and cementation solution concentrations were subjected to 16‐month weathering. Tests were conducted to evaluate the evaporation characteristics, water retention capacity, and CaCO3 distribution. Laboratory soil samples were further prepared to provide evidence related to underlying weathering mechanisms. The results show that MICP has a time‐dependent performance on drought mitigation. After MICP treatment, soil performs a remarkable evaporation suppression ability and the evaporation rate can decrease by 50%. This is attributed to the soluble salts which increase soil water retention capability and dense hard crust which inhibits water vapor migration into the atmosphere. However, the soluble salts and crust are sensitive to weathering thus leading to degradation of MICP. Suffering 16‐month weathering, the MICP‐induced CaCO3 decreases by more than 60%. The evaporation rate of soil increases with MICP rounds and cementation solution concentrations and can reach nearly two times of untreated soil. MICP‐treated field soil exhibits weaker water retention capacity than untreated soil because MICP alters soil microstructure which expands macropores and decreases volume of micropores. Connected macropores act as favorable evaporation channels and accelerate evaporation. To ensure MICP long‐term effects, periodical treatments are necessary. The most effective MICP treatment scheme is four to six treatment rounds and 1.0 M cementation solution. Stochastic hydrology produces ensembles of time series that represent plausible future streamflow to simulate and test the operation of water resource systems. A premise of stochastic hydrology is that ensembles should be statistically representative of what may occur in the future. In the past, the application of this premise has involved producing ensembles that are statistically equivalent to the observed or historical streamflow sequence. This requires a number of metrics or statistics that can be used to test statistical similarity. However, with climate change, the past may no longer be representative of the future. Ensembles to test future systems operations should recognize non‐stationarity and include time series representing expected changes. This poses challenges for their testing and validation. In this paper, we suggest an evidence‐based analysis in which streamflow ensembles, whether statistically similar to and representative of the past or a changing future, should be characterized and assessed using an extensive set of statistical metrics. We have assembled a broad set of metrics and applied them to annual streamflow in the Colorado River at Lees Ferry to illustrate the approach. We have also developed a tree‐based classification approach to categorize both ensembles and metrics. This approach provides a way to visualize and interpret differences between streamflow ensembles. The metrics presented, along with the classification, provide an analytical framework for characterizing and assessing the suitability of future streamflow ensembles, recognizing the presence of non‐stationarity. This contributes to better planning in large river basins, such as the Colorado, facing water supply shortages. The dynamic variations of agricultural drought can reflect the water shortage situation of the agricultural system, and there is a progressive relationship in the response of agricultural drought to meteorological drought on a spatiotemporal scale. In this study, the vegetation health index and the standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index were adopted as agricultural and meteorological drought indicators, respectively. Additionally, using the three‐dimensional spatiotemporal clustering technology, the dynamic evolutions of typical drought events were clarified, and the spatiotemporal response characteristics of agricultural drought to meteorological drought were revealed. The results indicated that: (a) there were 81 agricultural drought events in the North China Plain (NCP) during 1982–2020, with a largest drought severity (12.82 × 104 month km2), a 6‐month duration, and a 23.24 × 104 km2 affected area occurring in the No. 4 event; (b) from the 1980s to the 2010s, the agricultural drought gradually decreased and large‐scale droughts mainly concentrated in the border areas of Hebei, Shandong, and Henan; and (c) a total of 13 drought event pairs were successfully matched in the NCP, including 7 pairs of "one‐to‐one," 4 pairs of "one‐to‐many," 1 pair of "many‐to‐one," and 1 pair of "many‐to‐many." The spatiotemporal responses of agricultural drought were elucidated in a three‐dimensional perspective, which can propose a new approach for establishing drought propagation model, predicting future agricultural drought conditions, improving ecological environment quality, and can also be applied for the investigation of other drought types. The interfacial solar vapor generation (ISVG) process is an environmentally friendly approach that utilizes solar to produce steam, which can solve the water shortage. Despite many previous research studies, claims beyond the theoretical limit have risen due to limitations in the efficiency of converting solar to vapor and the rate of solar evaporation, which are still being debated. Energy losses remain even under ideal conditions, which means that the efficiency of the system will never be ≥100%. This review primarily analyzes the theoretical values of evaporation rate and energy efficiency in the ISVG process. Utilizing a theoretical formula for energy distribution, the factors contributing to the current exceedance of conversion efficiency and evaporation rate are scrutinized. By examining various strategies, such as the reduction of vaporization enthalpy for photothermal materials and the utilization of environmental energy for evaporation, these studies seek to enhance evaporation efficiencies, but they ignore the problem of the theoretical limit of evaporation. Therefore, this review emphasizes misconceptions about efficiencies beyond theoretical limits and aims to guide researchers to provide plausible explanations for such breakthroughs under specific conditions, alongside established reference conditions. Atmospheric water harvesting (AWH) is considered one of the promising technologies to alleviate the uneven‐distribution of water resources and water scarcity in arid regions of the world. Hydrogel‐based AWH materials are currently attracting increasing attention due to their low cost, high energy efficiency and simple preparation. However, there is a knowledge gap in the screening of hydrogel‐based AWH materials in terms of structure‐property relationships, which may increase the cost of trial and error in research and fabrication. In this study, we synthesised a variety of hydrogel‐based AWH materials, characterized their physochemcial properties visualized the electrostatic potential of polymer chains, and ultimately established the structure‐property‐application relationships of polymeric AWH materials. Poly(2‐acrylamido‐2‐methyl‐1‐propanesulfonic acid) (PAMPS) hydrogel is able to achieve an excellent water adsorption capacity of 0.62 g g−1 and a high water desorption efficiency of more than 90 % in relatively low‐moderate humidity environments, which is regarded as one of the polymer materials with potential for future AWH applications. Inland saline ecosystems suffer multiple stresses (e.g., high radiation, salinity, water scarcity) that may compromise essential ecosystem functions such as organic matter decomposition. Here, we investigated the effects of drought on microbial colonization and decomposition of Sarcocornia fruticosa woody stems across different habitats in a saline watershed: on the dry floodplain, submerged in the stream channel and at the shoreline (first submerged, then emerged). Unexpectedly, weight loss was not enhanced in the submerged stems, while decomposition process differed between habitats. On the floodplain, it was dominated by fungi and high cellulolytic activity; in submerged conditions, a diverse community of bacteria and high ligninolytic activity dominated; and, on the shoreline, enzyme activities were like submerged conditions, but with a fungal community similar to the dry conditions. Results indicate distinct degradation paths being driven by different stress factors: strong water scarcity and photodegradation in dry conditions, and high salinity and reduced oxygen in wet conditions. This suggests that fungi are more resistant to drought, and bacteria to salinity. Overall, in saline watersheds, variations in multiple stress factors exert distinct environmental filters on bacteria and fungi and their role in the decomposition of plant material, affecting carbon cycling and microbial interactions. Unexpected and large spring precipitation events in the Colorado River Basin (CRB) that significantly alleviated an otherwise severe water shortage have been observed for over a century, such as the "Miracle May" of 2015. Although these events are often termed as "drought‐busting" or "miracle events" by water managers and the media, they have not been extensively researched or characterized. In this collaborative study with water managers across the CRB, we propose a definition for these hard‐to‐predict, ultra‐high precipitation events occurring during the late‐snow or snowmelt season. This characterization provides a framework for quantifying the frequency and intensity of extreme dry‐to‐wet springtime transitions. Despite limitations of climate model simulations due to uncertainties and the inhomogeneous qualities, our findings suggest that such transitions may become less frequent and less intense in a warming climate. In view of the potentially wetter but less‐snowy climate in the basin, the need for future research to more quantitatively assess these "miracle events" is emphasized. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article analyzes the vicious cycle of Israel's control of water resources in Jordan and the Palestinian territories, the development of a one‐state reality in the region, and geopolitical changes driven by the Israeli occupation and the war in Gaza. Israel no longer suffers from water shortages, but its domination of Palestine and the conflict sparked by Hamas have increased the yawning water deficit. This has played a role in the decades‐long move away from the two‐state solution promised by the Oslo peace process. This article examines regional security through the lens of water resources. It shows that Jordan is left with few options but to accept its dependence on Israel and muddle through. In addition, the Palestinian territories, which face not just Israeli military rule but also the expansion of settlements, experience major water shortages. The article concludes that the increasing water hegemony reduces Israeli incentives for a comprehensive peace with the Palestinians that could resolve the resource crisis and enable two states to live side by side. In the Mesilla and Rincon Valleys of southern New Mexico, prolonged drought, climate change, increased competition for water, and an ongoing lawsuit with Texas over groundwater pumping create precarity in regard to long- term water resources for agricultural production. As the sector that uses the most water in New Mexico, agricultural participation in water conservation is critical. Using ethnographic data, along with the key concepts of horizons of the future and scale, I examine barriers to addressing water- scarce futures in the present. Ultimately, I argue that adding a multiscalar approach to the established framework of "horizoning work" can generate collaborative water conservation efforts with localized, temporally limited scopes to facilitate farmer participation in efforts to address water- scarce futures. Municipal water utilities across the United States establish their own rate structures to cover operations, maintenance, depreciation, and outstanding debt repayment. Yet, little is known about how rates are determined to ensure equity and/or affordability. To identify sources of variation in residential drinking water rates, we examine municipalities in northeastern Illinois, 2015–2019. Controlling for water utility characteristics, billing structures, financial management, service quality, and demographic/socioeconomic factors, we find no statistically significant correlations between water rates and median household income or race when nonrevenue water from leaking infrastructure is considered, revealing relative racial equity in water pricing within these communities. A larger water distribution network, more water included in the base charge, and a greater number of months in the billing cycle are all associated with lower rates. Purchasing water through an individual or cooperative agreement, a greater proportion of nonrevenue water from leaking infrastructure, a higher minimum monthly base charge, and more revenue debt outstanding (while controlling for nonrevenue water) are all associated with higher rates. We also find a positive correlation between municipal sewer rates and drinking water rates that supports findings from prior research. Overall, our research aids in the development of public policy that ensures all households have access to affordable and safe drinking water to promote water equity and public health. In the context of intensified climate change and resource scarcity, the impact of water risk on corporate sustainable operation is increasingly prominent; firms must not only be aware of corporate water risks but also take actions in its comprehensive management. For the purpose of integrating literature on corporate water risk and to find research deficiencies and point out future research directions, based on the definition of corporate water risk proposed by the Carbon Disclosure Project, bibliometrics was performed to study the research focus, research hotspots, and research trends in this field by using CITESPACE software. Results showed: (1) researches mainly focus on corporate adaptation under climate change, and corporate environmental management and social responsibility; (2) research hotspots include corporate performance under climate change, supply chain sustainability under water scarcity, environmental regulation and firm performance, environmental strategy and stakeholder management, and so forth; (3) research focuses have gradually changed from the study of corporate behavior under regulatory policies to the physical risk management under climate change, until the comprehensive corporate water risk management. Based on the relationships between water and firms, this paper discussed sources, impact and theories of corporate water risk, and further proposed a new research perspective of value chain. This work not only helps researches understand corporate water risk and further study on it, but also helps enterprises be aware of corporate water risk so as to take actions to deal with it and achieve corporate sustainable development. The Covid‐19 crisis has led to a massive surge in the use of surgical masks worldwide, causing risks of shortages and high pollution. Reusing the masks may be promising to reduce such risks, especially since various decontamination techniques are being investigated. In this study, the thermal degradation of surgical masks was investigated using X‐ray‐based techniques such as XRD and XPS. Additional characterization was performed using scanning electron microscopy and contact angle measurements. XRD experiments reveal an increase in both crystal size and crystallinity of the mask with temperature until it is destroyed at 160 °C. However, XPS results show that there was no significant change in the surface chemistry of the mask, as no other chemical element has been detected in the mask heated up. Accurate drought assessments are critical for mitigating the deleterious impacts of water scarcity on communities across the world. In many regions, deficits in soil moisture represent a key driver of drought conditions. However, relationships between soil moisture and widely used drought indicators have not been thoroughly evaluated. In addition, there has not been an in‐depth assessment of the accuracy of operational soil moisture models used for drought monitoring. Here, we used 2,405 observed time series of soil moisture from 637 long‐term monitoring stations across the conterminous United States to test the ability of meteorological drought indices and soil moisture models to accurately characterize soil moisture drought. The optimal timescales for meteorological drought indices varied substantially by depth, but were ∼30 days for depth averaged conditions; progressively longer timescales (∼10–80 days) represent progressively deeper soil moisture (2–36 in.). However, soil moisture models (including Short‐term Prediction Research and Transition Center, Soil Moisture Active Passive L4, and Topofire) significantly outperformed the meteorological drought indices for predicting standardized soil moisture anomalies and drought conditions. Additionally, soil moisture models represent near instantaneous conditions, implicitly aggregating antecedent data thereby eliminating the need for timescales, providing a more effective and convenient method for soil moisture drought monitoring. We conclude that soil moisture models provide a straightforward and favorable alternative to meteorological drought indices that better characterize soil moisture drought. Water is one of the most vital substances on the planet that supports and sustains life. One of the most crucial challenges of our time is water. It is a basic need for all living beings. Worldwide, a large amount of wastewater is produced daily from home and industrial sources, creating problems such a water shortage and environmental degradation. Water that has already been utilized is called wastewater. It has been observed that the wastewater released varies in composition according to the kind of industry and the municipal sources. Microorganisms, heavy metals, organic pollutants, pesticides, phthalates, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, emerging contaminants, and potentially dangerous wastes are all present in it. Among the most effective methods for removing these contaminants in recent times is the adsorption phenomenon. The presence of various contaminants in wastewater can be efficiently reduced by the simple, efficient, and affordable process of adsorption. Selection of suitable adsorbent is the crucial technique in this operation of adsorption. A versatile adsorbent is activated carbon (AC). Their maximum surface reactivity, large surface area, and microporous form are what give them their adsorptive capabilities. To enable recovery and filter, eliminate, or change the toxic components from gases and liquid solutions, they are used to purify, decolorize, deodorize, dechlorinate, separate, and concentrate. As a result, a variety of industries are interested in AC for the process of adsorption. This review paper briefs the characteristics of AC and their preparation techniques. It discusses the numerous approaches for modifying the surface of AC with significant adsorption capability. During summer and fall 2023, Louisiana experienced a historic local drought while dry conditions elsewhere in the central US withheld vital runoff from the Mississippi River, leading to below‐normal discharge into the Gulf of Mexico. Thus, by late October 2023, Louisiana was gripped by two super‐imposed water crises: a severe local drought and saltwater contamination in the Mississippi River channel. This study frames the development of the water emergency through the lens of flash drought using the Evaporative Demand Drought Index (EDDI). The EDDI shows south Louisiana experience a flash drought during June 2023, while the Mississippi River basin was subsequently characterized by large expanses of high‐percentile EDDI in August‐September 2023 shortly before the saltwater intrusion episode along the lower Mississippi River. Over the last 15 years, MRB‐wide EDDI percentile has oscillated between years‐long elevated and depressed states, accounting for 23.7% of the monthly discharge anomaly near New Orleans. The strong drying expected in the Eastern Mediterranean with climate change could cause mass migration of people already living under water shortages. On the other hand, precipitation is expected to increase toward the region's north, particularly those along the interior of the eastern Black Sea coasts, which could worsen existing floods. However, this double‐sided adverse phenomenon and its underlying reasons have been investigated by relatively low‐resolution models in the Eastern Mediterranean Black Sea (EMBS) region, where orographic precipitation prevails. This study performs 4 km resolution Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model simulations with and without climate change signals retrieved from a CMIP6 GCM ensemble via pseudo‐global‐warming (PGW). The WRF simulations captured the large‐scale dynamics affecting the EMBS fairly well: an anticyclonic low‐level circulation and enhancing subsidence stem from anomalous ridge development over the central Mediterranean in winter (DJF), and a cyclonic low‐level circulation and weakening subsidence rise from heat‐low development over the Eastern Mediterranean in summer (JJA). The resulting picture of future warming and drying over the area generally supports the literature, although new insights emerge in anomalous precipitation increase, especially in the summer season over the Greater Caucasus and nearby regions. Most likely, the warmer‐than‐expected Caspian Sea induces a large increase in specific humidity and, thus, a large moisture source in the lower troposphere and an extension of the heat‐low effect in the mid‐troposphere. In addition, the high‐resolution WRF simulations provide added value over the complex topography of the Caucasian Mountain range for new insights into this region. According to the study, the future winters were as expected: anomalous ridge formation over southern Italy, resultant northeasterlies over the EMBS, the large‐scale mid‐ and upper tropospheric subsidence, attenuation of the land‐sea temperature contrast and finally, strong drying. The summers exhibit negative vertical pressure velocity changes, strengthening Etesians, and strong surface warming in line with the expectations of the literature. However, summers brought anomalous precipitation to the Greater Caucasus and nearby areas in our high‐resolution WRF simulations. We think these new insights are primarily caused by the warmer‐than‐expected Caspian Sea stemming from the SST availability among the ensemble, a very convective environment for the region and better‐resolved complex‐orography‐induced precipitation. Seasonal snowpack in the Western United States (WUS) is vital for meeting summer hydrological demands, reducing the intensity and frequency of wildfires, and supporting snow‐tourism economies. While the frequency and severity of snow droughts (SD), that is, anomalously low snowpacks, are expected to increase under continued global warming, the uncertainty from internal climate variability remains challenging to quantify with observations alone. Using a 30‐member large ensemble from a state‐of‐the‐art global climate model, the Seamless System for Prediction and EArth System Research (SPEAR), and an observations‐based data set, we find WUS SD changes are already significant. By 2100, SPEAR projects SDs to be nearly 9 times more frequent under shared socioeconomic pathway 5‐8.5 (SSP5‐8.5) and 5 times more frequent under SSP2‐4.5, compared to a 1921–2011 average. By investigating the influence of the two primary drivers of SD, temperature and precipitation amount, we find the average WUS SD will become warmer and wetter. To assess how these changes affect future summer water availability, we track late winter and spring snowpack across WUS watersheds, finding differences in the onset time of a "no‐snow" threshold between regions and large internal variability within the ensemble that are both on the order of decades. We attribute the inter‐regional variability to differences in the regions' mean winter temperature and the intra‐regional variability to irreducible internal climate variability which is not well‐explained by temperature variations alone. Despite strong scenario forcing, internal climate variability will continue to drive variations in SD and no‐snow conditions through 2100. Plain Language Summary: Snow drought (SD) occurs when there is significantly less snow on the ground than normal. SDs can intensify water shortages, accelerate wildfires, and harm snow‐based tourism economies. For the Western United States, whose water supply is already limited, a recent increase in snow drought frequency is particularly concerning. Here, we use observational data and a new climate model to examine snow drought changes across the region between 1921 and 2100. We find SDs are already more common and could increase almost nine times under a high emissions scenario or five times under moderate emissions cuts by 2100. To better understand the increase, we tracked the evolution of the two main snow drought drivers: warmer temperatures and decreased precipitation. We find the average snow drought will become warmer and wetter, indicating warming temperatures are driving the increase. As the model consists of multiple simulations of future climate, or ensemble members, that differ only in the realization of random climate variability, we can determine when Western regions are expected to lose most of their spring snowpack. We find that loss timing varies dramatically between regions and ensemble members, suggesting random climate variability will shape the West's future water availability. Solar steam generation has emerged as a promising approach to address water scarcity issues globally. However, a few challenges remain, including high cost, limited scalability, and salt accumulation, before this technique can be adopted by the general population. Here, an all‐in‐one photothermal fabric is reported such as a solar steam generator (SSG), consisting of commercial hydrophilic superfine denier polypropylene fiber and water‐repellent expandable polyethylene foam, manufactured via a conventional weaving machine. By tailoring the yarn twist and density, optimized micro‐macro hierarchical channels can be created in the SSG to provide sufficient water supplementation and continuous steam generation. Due to the Marangoni effect introduced by the temperature gradient along the yarns water with high salinity transports to the bulk water, realizing a salt‐rejecting property. As a result, the SSG demonstrates a rapid evaporation rate of 1.408 kg m−2 h−1 and energy efficiency of 92.43% under 1 sun, as well as outstanding stability for desalination of high salinity brine (10 wt% NaCl). Furthermore, this strategy provides a new solution to achieve excellent cost‐effectiveness in clean water production at ≈1700 g h−1 $−1. Solar‐driven steam generation by heat localization has proven to be one of the most promising technologies for broad water‐related applications to relieve global water shortage and pollution due to the excellent interfacial water evaporation ability demonstrated both experimentally and theoretically. However, solar power changes fast in practical, such fluctuations on solar energywould invalidate conventional solar evaporator, leave a challenge on sustaining an efficient thermal evaporation. Herein, a mitigating‐solar‐fluctuation hybrid gel material (MHG) with chemical integrating of phase‐change material to achieve efficient steam generation under solar fluctuations is reported. By storing solar energy when it is surplus and providing thermal energy to sustain evaporation when it is insufficient, the MHGs solar evaporator under solar fluctuations achieves optimized water evaporation rate of 1.7 ± 0.02 kg m−2 h−1 for the high period of 0.8 sun and 1.3 ± 0.06 kg m−2 h−1 for the low period of 0.5 sun. The MHGs also exhibit outstanding solar desalination performance with good stability and demonstrate an effective brine desalination during round‐the‐clock desalination process with an average high evaporation rate of 1.24 kg m−2 h−1 d−1. A study published in the American Water Works Association's journal, AWWA Water Science, compared different methods for removing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from groundwaters. The study found that treatment by separation technologies, such as adsorption on granular activated carbons (GAC) or anion exchange resins, is currently the most practical and cost-effective way to remove PFAS from water. The study also highlighted the importance of considering the individual PFAS compound and the quality of the water being treated when selecting the most efficient removal method. Additionally, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has allocated funding for water infrastructure upgrades in Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska as part of President Biden's Investing in America agenda. The acute water and electricity shortages in Gaza necessitate comprehensive solutions that recognize the interconnected nature of these vital resources. This article presents pragmatic solutions to align supply with fundamental needs in both domains, offering viable pathways for achieving strategic water‐energy security in Gaza. Baseline data reveals a deficit in the current water supply, falling below the international minimum of 100 L per capita per day, while the reported 137–189 MW per day electricity supply significantly lags behind the estimated 390 MW per day peak demand. To meet projected 2024 residential, commercial, and industrial demands, this study proposes actionable measures including expanding wastewater treatment to enable over 150 MCM per year tertiary effluents for agricultural reuse and adopting energy‐efficient forward osmosis‐reverse osmosis and osmotically assisted reverse osmosis desalination methods to increase potable water supply to 150 MCM per year. Electricity supply strategies include scaling renewable capacity towards 110 MW per day, exploring regional cooperation to unlock over 360 MW of power per day, and potentially recovering up to 60 MW per day through system efficiencies. Water scarcity is a pressing issue, intensified by factors such as population growth and industrialization. Hence, it is crucial to monitor, conserve and analyse groundwater resources, which are essential sources of clean and usable water. This study examines changes in groundwater levels (GWLs) in northeastern Turkey's mountainous and snow‐covered area. The primary objective is to assess the effectiveness of integrated machine learning models, specifically, the extreme learning machine (ELM) technique combined with signal decomposition techniques such as ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD), variational mode decomposition (VMD) and empirical wavelet transform (EWT) for monthly GWL prediction models. Seventy percent of the accessible data is allocated for training, while 30% is designated for testing. A correlation matrix involving precipitation, temperature, relative humidity and GWL parameters is generated with inputs that possess significant correlations being selected, such as GWLt−1, GWLt−2, RHt, RHt−1 and RHt−2. To evaluate model results, various metrics, including mean squared error, mean absolute error, mean absolute percentage error, mean bias error, bias factor, determination coefficient, Nash‐Sutcliffe efficiency, as well as tools such as box plots, Taylor diagrams and radar charts, are utilized to compare outcomes during the interpretation phase. The results of the analyses show that applying data decomposition methods such as EEMD, VMD and EWT significantly improves the performance of the ELM algorithm in predicting GWLs. VMD‐ELM is the most accurate for GWL forecasting among the approaches examined. The R2 values of the most successful models established in the two wells are 0.993 and 0.905. The outcomes of this research hold significance for decision‐makers and policymakers as it offers informative insights into aquifer surveillance, irrigation strategizing and efficient administration of water resources. Background and Aims: Water scarcity and poor water quality could lead to suboptimum menstrual hygiene practices, and subsequently urinary tract infection (UTI) and bacterial vaginosis (BV). In this study, we estimate the prevalence of self‐reported UTI and BV among indigenous adolescent girls during the water scarcity period in the Bandarban Hill Districts in south‐eastern Bangladesh. Methods: Using a cross‐sectional design, a total of 242 indigenous adolescent girls were selected and interviewed during the seasonal water scarcity period (from February to May 2022) in Bandarban. The difference in prevalence of any self‐reported UTI or BV symptoms by respondents' characteristics was assessed by χ2 test. Multivariable logistic regression model was used to observe the associated factors. Results: The prevalence of self‐reported UTI, BV, and any symptoms of UTI or BV among the respondents were 35.54%, 28.93%, and 43.80%, respectively. Ethnicity, studentship status, source of water used for menstrual hygiene, and perceived water quality were significantly associated with the prevalence of any self‐reported UTI or BV symptoms. Conclusion: Findings recommend further research to cross‐check the validity of self‐reported prevalence and investigate if the episodes of UTI or BV could be attributable to water scarcity and poor water quality in study areas during dry period. In this article, I revisit my 2007 piece on The Construction of EU Normative Power (NP) and the Middle East 'conflict' and bring in Manners' Arrival of NP in Planetary Politics' (NPA) frame to shed light on how the EU's southern neighbourhood and its social and political fragility becomes amplified by the 'force multiplier' of climate mitigation. For example, in 2018, Gaza sewage led to the closure of Israeli beaches and the shutdown of the desalination plant in Ashkelon, which supplies Israel with 15% of its drinking water. This is but one example of how Israel and Palestine are not only inter‐dependent but, perhaps more importantly, co‐dependent. This article therefore draws attention to the urgent need of thinking on the co‐constitution of all life on earth, particularly in a climate‐conflict scenario such as that of Israel and Palestine. Water scarcity, rising temperatures and electricity interruptions contribute to the region's instability. If policy‐makers from the region and beyond are to co‐ordinate policy interventions around water and food insecurity for instance, they cannot ignore intractable conflicts such as the Israeli–Palestinian issue and their ensuing implications for planetary politics. Such enduring 'conflicts' represent a microcosmic image of the planet as a whole. Along with the other contributions in this symposium, this piece invokes planetary politics as the space where we need – out of necessity – to think differently: Otherwise, others will be writing the script for us. An analysis is presented of the precipitation bias and change signal in an ensemble of regional climate model (RCM) (RegCM4) projections driven by multiple general circulation models (GCMs) over China. RegCM4 is driven by five different GCMs for the 120‐year period 1979–2099 at 25 km grid spacing, under the representative concentration pathway RCP8.5. We find that the GCMs and RegCM4 reproduce the general spatial pattern of precipitation over China in all four seasons, with RegCM4 providing greater spatial detail, especially over areas with complex terrain. The spatial patterns of precipitation bias show common features between the GCMs and RegCM4, characterized by an underestimation in the wetter regions, and an overestimation in the drier ones. Systematic increases of precipitation are projected in northern China, most pronounced in the Northwest basins, by both the GCMs and RegCM4 in all seasons except summer, when more mixed results are found. In addition, weak correlations of the projected change patterns are found in summer between the GCMs and nested RegCM4, indicating the greater role played by the representation of local convection processes during this monsoon season. The projections across the RegCM4 experiments show higher consistency and lower spread compared to the GCM ensemble, again indicating that the nested model physics significantly modulates the change signal deriving from the GCM boundary forcing. The water shortage crisis and industrial progress have led to the upgrading of wastewater treatment processes. Hence, the remediation of wastewater and removal of contaminants are becoming a significant issue for environmentalists. However, the design and optimization of affordable treatment procedures with better removal performance are still challenging for researchers. Although porous ceramics with excellent porosity are appropriate for the separation and adsorption of wastewater and water pollutants owing to their enlarged surface area, fluid permeability, and capacity for water absorption, their production is an expensive process. Therefore, using low‐cost and benign compounds for the production of ceramics is an important issue. This review provides the application of the ceramic manufactured from natural sources and biomass for wastewater treatment and removal of pollutants. Our world faces potentially catastrophic climate change that can damage human health in multiple ways. The impact of climate change is uneven, disproportionately affecting the lives and livelihoods of women and girls. This conceptual article compiles evidence for a model that argues that climate change has more detrimental consequences for women than men because of women's precarity (unequal power) and corporal (physical) vulnerability. Climate change challenges the human rights of women and girls, triggering displacement, interrupted education, food and water scarcity, economic instability, mental and physical health challenges, reproductive injustice, gender‐based violence, exploitation and human trafficking. Women are effective and essential change agents; their empowerment can directly contravene or mitigate climate change and also break the links between climate change and its negative consequences for women and girls. Gender‐sensitive responses to the effects of climate change are imperative. Women's empowerment will further human rights and achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
