The COVID pandemic has shown that when the research community comes together, we can conquer the most complex biomedical challenges. Collaboration and teamwork among federal agencies, private organizations, and researchers have been crucial in the development of vaccines and therapeutics against COVID. Possibly the first example of such cross‐functional collaboration is the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI), the largest and longest continually monitored Alzheimer's study. ADNI was designed and operated as a public‐private partnership, managed by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health. This article shows how recent successes in the Alzheimer's field are directly a result of ADNI's open and transparent sharing of knowledge, expertise, and resources, which have allowed researchers to advance their understanding of Alzheimer's and tackle challenges in a relatively short period of time. ADNI's approach to open‐source innovation also served as a model for addressing other complex diseases and led to numerous collaborative research initiatives. The Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) Private Partners Scientific Board (PPSB) encompasses members from industry, biotechnology, diagnostic, and non‐profit organizations that have until recently been managed by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) and provided financial and scientific support to ADNI programs. In this article, we review some of the major activities undertaken by the PPSB, focusing on those supporting the most recently completed National Institute on Aging grant, ADNI3, and the impact it has had on streamlining biomarker discovery and validation in Alzheimer's disease. We also provide a perspective on the gaps that may be filled with future PPSB activities as part of ADNI4 and beyond. Background: The total cost of Alzheimer's Disease related drug development was estimated to be $5.6 billion, and the timeline was predicted to be approximately 13 years from a pre‐clinical study to the approval by regulatory agencies. No single organization can allocate resources to this extent and successfully conquer the drug development challenges. Method: To overcome this problem, the Foundation for the National Institute of Health (FNIH) has created cross‐discipline consortia including clinical researchers at NIH, other government agencies, industry, academia and not for profit organizations with a goal to find potential drug targets and biomarkers for Alzheimer's Disease and reduce the time and cost of Alzheimer's drug development. Results: This talk will focus on lesson learned, main achievements, past and ongoing work in large and high‐profile projects including the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI), Accelerating Medicines Partnership® Program for Alzheimer's Disease (AMP® AD), and leading projects in the Biomarkers Consortium focused on the evaluation of the top‐performing plasma Aβeta, phospho‐Tau and Neurofilament light assays. Conclusion: These consortia and public‐private partnerships are contributing to discovery and validation of new therapeutic targets and biomarkers for disease progression and treatment response, which will lead to increased clinical trial success and new drugs for patients with Alzheimer's disease. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were chosen due to their excellent electrical properties. As delivered, CNTs are highly agglomerated, and to exploit their high aspect ratio is then necessary to disagglomerate them as much as possible. A diblock copolymer surfactant was used to aid CNT disagglomeration. Disagglomeration in solvent was assessed by TEM, whereas composite microstructure was observed by scanning electron microscopy. X-band waveguide measurements were carried out to assess complex permittivity and absorbing performance. On a same weight percent of filler basis, samples produced with the aid of surfactant show higher real permittivity than samples produced without. An equivalent circuit analogy is suggested to explain the results and relates composite microstructure with macroscopic permittivity. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article discusses a study which reviewed the literature on different models of clinical governance and their relevance to primary health care in Australia. The study assessed the potential contributions of the models to quality and safety. It used different data sources, including electronic databases, scanning reference lists of articles and consultation with experts. It discovered the fragmentation of the evidence base for clinical governance and the focus given by clinical governance on process rather than outcomes.

The authors discuss the value of interprofessional education (IPE), learning (IPL) and practice (IPP) in Australia. They reference a study "An Action Research Protocol to Strengthen System-Wide Inter-Professional Learning and Practice," by J. Braithwaite and colleagues that appeared in "BMC Health Services Research" in 2007. The study revealed that IPL and IPP in a collaborative interprofessional team promote a reflective practice environment that encourage shared knowledge. They believe that Australia shows leadership in interprofessional collaboration.
