This paper presents an approach to pressure sensors with dual‐function resistors and capacitors implemented with interdigitated capacitors fabricated on a flexible substrate for detecting abnormal actions during walking. In this study, we proposed a highly sensitive, broad‐range pressure sensor achieved through a combination of porous Ecoflex, carbon nanotubes (CNTs), coating single‐wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), and interdigitated electrodes. First, characterizations of the capacitor and resistor sensor applied onto cotton fabric are completed by precision LCR meter across the frequency at 50 kHz. Subsequently, the presence of volume fraction CNTs enhances the bond strength of composites, and coating SWCNT improves sensor sensitivity. The robustness of our presented sensor is validated through testing under high pressure (50 kPa) for more than 1000 cycles. Furthermore, the combination of CNTs and porous dielectric, along with SWCNT coating, achieves a broad detection range (500 kPa) with a sensitivity range from 0.018 (at 500 kPa) to 0.15 KPa−1 (at 5 kPa). Finally, our high‐performance resistive/capacitive pressure sensor applied on smart insoles represents a significant advancement in wearable technology for health monitoring and safety applications. Leveraging an advanced autoencoder, our proposed sensor accurately detects abnormal activity patterns, such as sudden stops or irregular gait, thereby alerting users to potential safety concerns. The plastic deformation of the microfibrils governs the formation and development of orientation, crystallization, and structural defects in polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibers due to the flow‐fiber coupling effect during stretching process. In this study, we investigated the morphological changes of microfibrils in PAN fibers during wet‐fiber stretching using ultrathin section technology and electron microscopy observation. Their plastic deformation mechanism was also revealed. An interconnected network was formed and separated by the pore/voids during coagulation process. Stretching forces facilitated the plastic deformation of microfibrils, resulted in their elongation and orientation. Moreover, the inter‐fibril distance reduced and pore/void shape and dimensions were changed. The distinct response of microfibril elements under stretching force resulted in skin‐core structures within the fiber. Tensile strength increased from 27 to 382 MPa, while elongation at break decreased from 225% to 28%. Aligned microfibrils exhibited high tensile strength, whereas unoriented microfibrillar networks showed relatively high elongation properties. Flexible sensors hold significant promise for wearable monitoring and rehabilitation training applications. However, current flexible strain sensors struggle to compatible their sensing performance and fabrication with textile substrate and weaving technologies, which limits the practical applications of flexible sensors in commercial markets for electronic wearables. Differing from traditional strategies that rely on sophisticated construction of functional materials, leveraging industrial braiding, and weaving technologies, an all‐textile‐based pseudo‐triaxial mechanosensory textile (PTMT) is designed by engineering the wrapping pattern, yarn twist, and fabric architecture. The switchable hierarchically‐structured morphing of the PTMT enables an ultra‐wide strain detection range (up to 140%) along with desirable sensitivity. Moreover, the PTMT shows outstanding air permeability (1915 mm s−1), moisture permeability (1922 g m−2 h−1), high washability, and electromagnetic interference shielding (20.25 dB). The potential applications of PTMT are also demonstrated, such as in simulating fetal‐movement in pregnant women, proving its effectiveness in fetal‐movement health monitoring. Furthermore, by integrating the PTMT into shoe vamps and combining it with machine learning algorithms (CNN, RF, and PSO‐SVM), it is proved that PSO‐SVM outperformed CNN and RF in accuracy and stability, achieving a combined recognition accuracy of 95.42%. Color has become an essential element in our communication and our judgment on products. In textile, the formulation of any color is an essential process to ensure color continuity from the master standard to all subsequent production batches. Indeed, the objective is to normalize its reproduction all along the color reproduction procedure. In the literature, researches concerning textile color formulation are important, so this review focuses on these different techniques and methods of color matching for dye mixtures and precolored fiber blends. This step involves determining the dyes or fibers to use (alone or in mixtures) and their appropriate proportions to reproduce the wanted colors. The main techniques used for dye mixtures are based on colorimetric, spectrophotometric, and artificial intelligence techniques. While for precolored fiber mixtures the used techniques are dived into theoretical and experimental models. Highlights This study presents STF/Fabric composite configurations by impregnating single‐phase shear thickening fluids (S‐STF) and multi‐phase shear thickening fluids (M‐STF) into aramid fabrics. S‐STFs were first prepared at different concentrations by weight (25%, 40%, 55%, and 65%). In addition, M‐STFs were produced by adding silicon carbide (SiC) additive to S‐STFs. As a result of the impregnation of the produced STFs on Aramid fabrics, 30‐layer composite samples were prepared. To determine the ballistic performance of the produced samples, tests were carried out with a single‐stage gas gun system. The shots were performed at an average velocity of 670 m/s. Ballistic tests show that STF‐impregnated fabric samples have better ballistic performance compared to fabric without STF. The STF65/Aramid sample is notable for a 238% increase in energy absorption. In addition, the STF40SiC10/Aramid composite sample produced with M‐STF was found to absorb 18.7% more energy compared to the STF40/Aramid sample. It has been confirmed that keeping the weight ratio of the additive at an optimum level will contribute to ballistic performance. These results contributed to determining the optimum concentration amount for STF/Aramid composites at high speed. S‐STF and SiC additive M‐STFs were produced. STFs were impregnated into 30‐layer Aramid fabrics. Ballistics tests were performed on S‐STF/Aramid and M‐STF/Aramid composite samples with a single‐stage gas gun system. Fiber batteries are essential for the realization of high‐performance wearable and textile electronics with the desirable features of conventional textiles, including breathability, stretchability, and washability. However, the development of fiber batteries is limited by scalability and performance since most reported fabrication techniques are not compatible with standard battery manufacturing. This work presents a novel method for the scalable fabrication of fiber batteries with a stacked design analogous to that of conventional pouch cells using layer lamination and laser machining. To accomplish this, several poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF‐HFP) separators are developed, enabling lamination between conventional battery electrodes using a heated rolling press. The laminated strips are subsequently laser cut to form fibers with widths as narrow as 650–700 µm. These prototypes are successfully cycled in pouch cells and capillary tubes, delivering very high linear energies up to 0.61 mWh cm−1. Custom equipment is designed to demonstrate scalable fiber battery fabrication processing in a roll‐to‐roll fashion. This work marks a paradigm shift in fiber battery research by demonstrating substantial benefits over all previous approaches including optimal active material utilization, low inactive material content, scalability, and compatibility with equipment already used widely in the battery industry. In this study, we investigate the fabrication of ambient room temperature responsive shape memory polyurethane (SMPU)‐coated fabric using a simple dip coating method, aiming to enhance the shape memory response of smart textiles. Two SMPU were synthesized using different chain extender 1,4 butanediol (BDO‐SMPU) and polyethylenimine (PEI‐SMPU). Critical parameters such as SMPU concentration, dwell time, and coating solution temperature are optimized to ensure exceptional shape memory performance while also maintaining the fabric's handle, comfort, and durability. We determined that PEI‐SMPU/Cotton fabric exhibits superior memory performance, with a 90.2% shape recovery at a 1% PEI‐SMPU concentration. Conversely, BDO‐SMPU fabric demonstrated a 75.8% shape recovery under different conditions (10% SMPU concentration, 50°C solution temperature). Furthermore, shape recovery is influenced by programming temperature and load; at 35°C and 10 N load, PEI‐SMPU/Cotton significantly outperforms BDO‐SMPU/Cotton, showing about 20% improvement in shape recovery. This study indicates that modifying SMPU from BDO‐SMPU to PEI‐SMPU can notably enhance shape recovery performance at 35°C, marking a significant advancement in human body temperature responsive smart fabric technology. Stretchable supercapacitors (SCs) have attracted attention as energy storage devices for wearable electronics due to their excellent power performance, low heat generation, and ease of integration into clothing. This paper presents a stretchable SC composed of liquid metal current collectors on textile substrates. For the liquid metal and textile‐based supercapacitors (LM/Tex SCs), the wetting characteristics and electrical resistance of the liquid metal on different types of textile substrates are investigated. The wettability of the carbon nanotube suspension for an electrochemically active material is also affected by the chemical and structural properties of the textile substrates. The intrinsically stretchable LM/Tex SCs are fabricated by sandwiching a soft gel electrolyte layer between the two liquid metal and textile‐based electrodes. The optimized SCs based on the polyester/neoprene textile exhibit a high areal capacitance of 527.8 mF cm−2 and maintain more than 90% of their initial capacitance after 1000 repetitive stretching cycles. Finally, it is demonstrated that the LM/Tex SC is readily integrated into a shirt and reliably supplies electrical energy to light up a light‐emitting diode even under human motion. This paper presents a study of ceramics from Northwest China from the Neolithic and Bronze Age (c. 3300–600 BCE), providing insights into variations in human–ceramic interactions over time and space. Based on macroscopic and petrographic analysis of ceramics from 10 sites, this paper shows that there is much more complexity in ceramic technology than previously thought. It identifies a development from a bi‐modal distinction between painted fine ware and rusticated coarse wares shared among communities across Northwest China to strongly localised ceramic traditions with new fabrics, vessel shapes, and decorations, some of them potentially of outside origin, reflecting considerable societal change. Assembly influences on the long‐term load‐bearing capacity of glass/PTFE fabrics Membrane structures are designed for a service life of between 20 and 25 years. In Germany, a combined ZiE/vBG is required for every membrane structure – whether small or large – which is based on strength and stiffness parameters that are determined on the new material depending on each individual batch. Hereby, strength‐reducing influences are certainly taken into account via reduction factors, but effects from assembly are not sufficiently covered. Glass/PTFE fabrics in particular are sensitive to installation influences such as handling during transport, handling and temperature during the laying of the fabric and weathering, so that long‐term damages in form of cracks in glass/PTFE membrane structures might occur, which (can) result in premature replacement of the entire covering. Investigations into the influence of weathering in combination with handling/installation‐related creases in glass/PTFE fabrics have shown that certain types of creases in glass/PTFE fabrics must be avoided, while others do not (necessarily) have a detrimental effect on the long‐term load‐bearing capacity of the fabric itself. This contribution provides an overview of the current state of knowledge on the influence of weathering and creases on the long‐term load‐bearing capacity of glass/PTFE fabrics as well as recommendations for the correct installation of such membrane structures in order to avoid long‐term damages. The difficulty of dyeing is a disturbing problem for the various application of polyimide fabrics. Alkali treatment has been widely used as a preliminary step before dyeing, denoted as a two‐bath method. With more attention being paid to energy resources, this work aims to explore more economical and environmentally friendly dyeing technology, combining the alkali treatment and the dyeing process together, named a one‐bath method. Surprisingly, the K/S value of the one‐bath dyed fabric is much higher than that of the two‐bath sample, in which the red colour value is enhanced by 59.9% for the one‐bath sample. As for the effect of dyeing on the physical properties, the two‐step method has been demonstrated to exert more severe damage on the fibre, with lower crystallinity and tensile strength. To explain such results, it is deduced that when alkali is added together with dyes, it can play a bridge role between the dyes and the fibre, anchoring the dyes wherever the alkali can permeate. Furthermore, 17.25 J of the energy is calculated to be saved for the dyeing of 60 g of fabric, which is very inspiring for large‐scale application. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Bio‐inspired unidirectional flow of tiny aqueous droplets across the fibrous substrate paved the way for the emergence of various advanced materials. In the past, textiles decorated with noncontact‐based wettability‐patterns enabled unidirectional water flow—without flooding the top surface by the transferred water. However, such approaches mostly suffer from a low (≈0.176 µL mm−2 s−1) flow rate and are likely to delay the overall liquid ejection process. Here, a chemically reactive coating capable of tailoring water wettability (121.3° ± 2.4° to 153.3° ± 1.8°) is introduced on commercially available textiles to develop chemically modulated wettability‐pattern for achieving a rapid (2.57 ± 0.28 µL mm−2 s−1) flow rate of water against the gravity with an ability to roll the accumulated liquids on the top surface. The spatially selected and controlled chemical modification with hydrophilic and hydrophobic small molecules through a 1, 4‐conjugate addition reaction yielded a 3D channel with a customized wettability gradient. The pinning and depinning of invaded water through such chemically decorated channels enabled unidirectional and fast penetration of liquid, where the water penetration resistance largely depends on the water penetration direction and dimension of the chemically modulated channels. Summary A compact, flexible, low‐profile end‐fire broadband wearable antenna operating in Ku‐band /X‐band is proposed in this manuscript for defense and satellite communications (Satcom) applications. The main objective of this work is cross‐polarization reduction by the defected ground structure (DGS), which offers a wider bandwidth. Due to its flexibility and ability to absolutely conform to the curved‐shaped human body, denim fabric is used as a substrate, whereas copper tape is used as a conductor, which allows for the integration of the antenna into garments and makes it appropriate for a wide range of wearable applications in various bands. The prototype has been developed with a size of 20×20×0.5$$ 20\times 20\times 0.5 $$ mm3 for experimental validation. The measured results from a fabricated prototype are well matched with the simulated ones of the proposed design, which indicate a wide bandwidth of 57.35% (7.76–14 GHz) appropriate for use in applications such as defense operating from 8 to 12 GHz, satellite TV (11.7–12.2 GHz), Ku‐band downlink (10.95–11.7 GHz), Ku‐band uplink (11.7–14.5 GHz), and a high gain of 5.1 dBi. The specific absorption rate (SAR) is much below the permissible limit of 1.6 W/kg, with better radiation characteristics. Thus, the proposed antenna is more compact, and it clearly achieves a smaller footprint, larger impedance bandwidths, and a low SAR with potential prospect for Satcom and defense purposes. Yarn‐woven triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) have greatly advanced wearable sensor technology, but their limited sensitivity and stability hinder broad adoption. To address these limitations, Poly(VDF‐TrFE) and P(olyadiohexylenediamine (PA66)‐based nanofibers coaxial yarns (NCYs) combining coaxial conjugated electrospinning and online conductive adhesive coating are developed. The integration of these NCYs led to enhanced TENGs (NCY‐TENGs), notable for their flexibility, stretchability, and improved sensitivity, which is ideal for capturing body motion signals. One significant application of this technology is the fabrication of smart insoles from NCY‐TENG plain‐woven fabrics. These insoles are highly sensitive and possess antibacterial, breathable, and washable properties, making them ideal for real‐time gait monitoring in patients with diabetic foot conditions. The NCY‐TENGs and their derivatives show immense potential for a variety of wearable electronic devices, representing a considerable advancement in the field of wearable sensors. Aiming at the problems of heavy environmental pollution, high energy consumption, and process complexity for current degumming techniques, three types of deep eutectic solvent (DES) systems as eco‐friendly sustainable solutions including choline chloride/urea (CU), ethylenediamine hydrochloride/ethylene glycol (EE) and choline chloride/imidazole (CI) were prepared and applied to the degumming of seed hemp. It was clearly showed that all three DES systems exhibit excellent degumming efficiency on seed hemp to remove noncellulosic components involving in pectin, hemicellulose, and lignin in amorphous region without damage to the structure and crystalline morphology of cellulose, leading to an increase of cellulose portion from 54% to about 80%. CI with the molar ratio of 3:8 at 175°C for 2.5 h give the best removal performance for hemicellulose and pectin while EE with molar ratio of 1:2 at 175°C for 3 h can remove lignin with highest efficiency. However, CU with the lowest cost reveals a balanced removal of three noncellulosic components, which may be the optimal choice for industrial production. The demand for self‐powered sensing technology and energy harvesting system necessitates high‐performance and flexible piezoelectric materials. This paper presents a novel approach utilizing coaxial electrospinning to fabricate all‐organic PVDF/PMMA piezoelectric fiber films with a shell–core structure. The resulting fiber films, cut into 2 × 2 cm2 square pieces and hot‐pressed every three pieces, demonstrate enhanced piezoelectric properties while retaining high flexibility. The interaction between the CO bonds in the PMMA polymer and the CH2 in PVDF promotes the arrangement of F atoms in PVDF, enhancing the content of the piezoelectric active phase. Additionally, the coaxial electrospinning process fosters vertically oriented hydrogen bonds between PVDF and PMMA, augmenting cross‐linking and improving mechanical properties. Notably, when the PVDF to PMMA layer volume ratio is 5:1, the piezoelectric coefficient (|d33|) of the composite fiber film exhibits a significant 60% increase from 10 pC N−1 in neat PVDF to 16 pC N−1. High‐performance fibers are known for their exceptional specific strength and resistance to various hazardous conditions, including fire. However, the long‐term performance of these fibers when exposed to convective heat has rarely been reported. This study investigated the accelerated thermal aging behavior of three high‐performance fabrics of different blends of inherently flame‐resistant high‐performance fibers: copolymer of aramids (Technora®)/polybenzoxazole (PBO); para‐aramid/meta‐aramid; and para‐aramid/polybenzimidazole (PBI). Fabric specimens were thermally aged for up to 1200 h at temperatures ranging from 90 to 320°C. While all three fabrics experienced losses in the breaking force, the Technora®/PBO fabric displayed the best strength retention, despite the complete disappearance of the Technora® fiber crystallinity after aging at 320°C for 1200 h. The para‐aramid/PBI blended fabric showed signs of competing aging processes at high temperatures. An increase in the fabrics' crystallinity and evidence of chain scission were observed after thermal aging. Additionally, degradation in the fabric's water‐repellent finish was observed. Nowadays, waste management is gaining popularity to reduce the environmental impact made by human beings. There is a dire need to decrease the pollution caused by plastic materials. A gradual rise in the demand for polyester bottles has generated a need to recycle these materials. In the present work, an aromatic amine (4,4′‐(1,4‐phenylenebis(1,3,4‐oxadiazole‐5,2‐diyl)) dianiline) was prepared from the polyester bottle waste. The successful synthesis and chemical structure of the amine was confirmed by various characterization techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H NMR), and 13C NMR. The amine was diazotized and coupled with H‐acid (4‐amino‐5‐hydroxy‐2,7‐naphthalene disulfonic acid)‐treated wool fabric to generate acid dye in situ on the fabric. The coloration (L*, a*, b*, and K/S) and fastness properties of dyed wool were evaluated, and the samples were further analyzed for antibacterial and UV‐protective properties. The dyed wool was also characterized by FTIR to confirm the presence of the aromatic group of the dye. The introduction of dye structure on the wool increased the thermal stability of the fabric, which was confirmed through thermogravimetric analysis analysis. Antibacterial activity (>70%) and excellent UV protection were retained by dyed wool after 20 washes. Furthermore, the dyed wool was found nontoxic under the cytotoxicity evaluation test. Wearable smart sensors have broad prospects in medical health and physical exercise. In this study, the core–shell conductive fiber membrane was prepared by adding multiwalled carbon nanotubes during polymerization of aniline on spun fibers. In comparison to the conventionally utilized polymerized aniline, the integration of carbon nanotube particulates enhances the conductivity and surface area, provides more aniline polymerization sites, and simultaneously increases the stability of the composite film. The pressure sensor has a sensitivity of 61.12, 40.32, and 23.17 kPa−1 in the range of 0–7.1 kPa, 7.1–11.1 kPa, and 11.1–19.54 kPa. In addition, it has a fast response time (loading time of 120 ms and unloading time of only 22 ms) and exhibits excellent cyclic stability through numerous loading–unloading cycles. These properties enable the sensor to be applied to real‐time monitoring of human sports health, such as knee and elbow bending, mouse clicking, beaker holding, and so on. Moisture barriers are an essential component in firefighters' protective clothing as they allow water vapor to exit and prevent liquids from entering into the garment. However, they may be sensitive to thermal aging. This study investigates the effect of accelerated thermal aging at temperatures between 95 and 240°C on three different moisture barriers used in firefighters' protective clothing. Variations in their tear force, water vapor transmission rate (WVTR), and apparent contact angle were observed after thermal aging. These variations were influenced by factors such as the base fabric structure, fiber content, adhesive characteristics, and presence of an additional flame-resistant polyurethane coating on top of the expanded polytetrafluoroethylene membrane. Adhesive degradation and delamination were observed in one moisture barrier, whilst different extents of base fabric degradation occurred in all three of them, leading to tear force reduction. Depending on the moisture barrier and aging temperature, the membranes experienced crack formation or pore closure, which affected the WVTR. The water-repellent finish on the fabric side degraded in two moisture barriers but was not affected in the other. These findings highlight the importance of considering the constitutive materials and the structure of moisture barriers to understand their aging behavior and improve firefighters' safety. Far from being a purely cerebral activity, meaningful theological work seeks the transformation of people; intellectual assent is necessary, but humans are embodied, and theology can be multi‐modal in its action and delivery. This essay draws on the traditions of visual and sensory theological practices to make an argument for theology as a rigorous process enacted in embodied—mind, hand, and heart—ways. The interwoven relationship between orthodoxy and orthopraxy is too often tenuous, practitioners on one side and thinkers on the other. In exploring lives of biblical characters, specifically women, and expressing these across modalities of spoken word, stitch, and poetry, the writer makes a case for the essential embodiment of a sensuous theological expression—the kind of expression that one frequently experiences in sacrament and frequently ignores in formal theological discourse. In drawing from her own research practices the writer presents a case for the importance of personal theological work moving from thinking as the sole location, arguing that embodiment is always the outcome of good theological commitment. This essay builds on a foundation of theologians who make a case for the arts and for the sensory in pointing toward the Divine, and it unapologetically draws on textile practice as “women's work” and a location of shared human experience. The essay also explores responses to theology in physical stitched form and poetry. It includes responses which take theological interactions beyond consumption into production; it considers the value of embodied, holistic theological work as a potential gift to the community. The realistic rendering of woven and knitted fabrics has posed significant challenges throughout many years. Previously, fiber‐based micro‐appearance models have achieved considerable success in attaining high levels of realism. However, rendering such models remains complex due to the intricate internal scatterings of hundreds of fibers within a yarn, requiring vast amounts of memory and time to render. In this paper, we introduce a new framework to capture aggregated appearance by tracing many light paths through the underlying fiber geometry. We then employ lightweight neural networks to accurately model the aggregated BSDF, which allows for the precise modeling of a diverse array of materials while offering substantial improvements in speed and reductions in memory. Furthermore, we introduce a novel importance sampling scheme to further speed up the rate of convergence. The seamless integration of emerging directional liquid transport (DLT) technology with traditional textile materials has ushered in the next‐generation multifunctional textiles, i.e., DLT textiles, which will play a vital role in areas such as wearable smart materials and ecological environmental protection. To further promote the combination of DLT technology and textile technology, a concise overview of the research progress in DLT textiles, including the basic transport mechanisms, various preparation strategies and diversified applications of DLT textiles is provided. In this review, the theoretical mechanisms of directional transport from the perspective of wetting and wicking is discussed. Besides, the preparation strategies of DLT textiles, and categorized them into three categories is summarized: fiber‐based DLT textiles, fabric‐based DLT textiles, and fiber/fabric hybrid‐based textiles. Subsequently, the current and potential applications of DLT textiles are classified and discussed, mainly focusing on functional clothing, oil‐water separation, fog collection, distillation, sensors, biomedicine, and so on. This review focuses on the exploration of natural compounds, renowned for their antimicrobial properties, as viable alternatives to conventional chemical agents that pose significant environmental challenges. It delves into a diverse array of natural sources, including plant extracts, essential oils, and microbial‐derived compounds, which have been identified for their potent antimicrobial efficacy. These natural agents not only demonstrate a broad spectrum of activity against pathogenic microorganisms but also represent a stride towards eco‐friendly textile processing by offering a sustainable substitute for synthetic antimicrobials. The integration of these green antimicrobial agents into textiles is scrutinized, with a particular emphasis on their impact on enhancing fabric functionalities. The design and preparation of lightweight and flexible electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding composites with high efficiency and low reflection are critical to the electronic field. First, silver nanowires (AgNWs) were vacuum filtered on the electrospun thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) fibrous film. Then, by combining the adhesive with the electrospun silicon carbide nanowhisker (SiCnw) @TPU composite fibrous film, the asymmetric EMI shielding composite films with high electromagnetic shielding efficiency (EMI SE) and low incident power were obtained. The lower AgNWs‐TPU layer provides the primary EMI SE, and the upper SiCnw@TPU fibrous film is used for electromagnetic wave absorption. This unique asymmetric structure, the synergistic effect of SiCnw's particular absorbing function and the excellent conductivity of the AgNWs layer make the film show high overall SE (SET = 55.18 dB). In order to improve the absorption effect of the composite film, the number of layers of SiCnw@TPU was adjusted, resulting in a final reflection coefficient value as low as 0.55. Man‐made superhydrophobic membranes are of interest for various applications in energy, environment, and medical fields. However, simultaneously achieving durable superhydrophobicity, robust waterproofness, and high breathability of the membranes is still challenging. Herein, an efficient and powerful strategy is reported to create superhydrophobic membranes with perdurable liquid repellency and robust breathability via combining humidity‐induced electrospinning with coat‐crosslinking technology. The micro/nano rough structure is in situ constructed based on manipulating the phase separation of electrospun jets; meanwhile, the waterborne acrylic resins are bridged to the surface of nanofiber to endow the membranes with stable low surface energy via coating and crosslinking treatment. Eventually, the resultant membranes present superhydrophobicity with a water contact angle of ≈154°, good self‐cleaning and anti‐icing properties, robust waterproofness of 83.4 kPa, and high breathability of 3.71 kg m−2 d−1. More interestingly, the nanomaterials can maintain durable superhydrophobicity even after exposure to various severe conditions. The successful creation of high‐performance superhydrophobic membranes opens a new avenue for synthesizing advanced functional materials for application in a variety of fields. In Technical Universities in Ghana, the Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes are well‐established higher education programmes for the provision of middle‐level manpower needs of the Country. The programmes are considered industry‐related, offering students the knowledge and skills required for effective performance at work. However, there is very little tracer survey on the polytechnic/technical university graduate on the relevance of the HND Industrial Art Programmes run in the polytechnics/technical universities, apart from a study on exploring the destinations of Higher National Diploma, Graphic Design graduates in the Ghanaian labour market. Therefore, the study sought to conduct a tracer study on the impact of the HND Industrial Art Programme on the Art Sector in Ghana. To carry out the study, the main objective was to assess the effectiveness and the contribution of the HND Industrial Art Programme to employment and job creation in the Art Sector in Ghana. The Concurrent Triangulated Mixed Method research approach was adopted to undertake the research. From the study, the major finding is that the Painting and Decoration (P/D), Ceramics and Leatherwork options all succeeded in creating jobs/empowering graduates to create their own jobs, but that cannot be said with the Textiles option. The findings have implications for TVET training in the country. It is therefore recommended that appropriate steps should be taken in consultation with the Ghana Tertiary Education Council (GTEC) to have a holistic review of the curriculum to make it relevant for the benefit of this ever‐dynamic society. In this work, cationic waterborne polyurethane/acrylate (WPUA) was synthesized for water repellent in cotton fabrics to replace fluorine‐containing finishing agents with the concerns of ecosystems and human health. First, the tertiary amines monomers, N‐methyl diethanolamine, 3‐dimethylamine‐1, 2‐propylene glycol, N,N′‐bis (2‐hydroxyethyl)piperazine, were used as chain extenders to prepare waterborne polyurethane, respectively. Long‐chain octadecyl acrylate monomers were then grafted to the waterborne polyurethane by a self‐emulsifying method. The stable WPUA suspensions of positively charged latexes were obtained and could be finished on cotton fabrics via a simple pad‐curing process. The coated cotton fabrics were capable of repelling common liquids without any penetration, and the contact angles of the treated cotton fabrics could reach 150°. The WPUA latex films also exhibited good tensile mechanical properties and thermal dimensional stability. The cotton fabric coated with the WPUA showed good laundering durability, and its static water contact angle was still maintained at 142° even after 50 times washing. This work not only highlights the structural design and preparation but also provides a feasible strategy for fluorine‐free water repellency in cotton fabrics, which has great potential application prospects for a variety of fields. Textiles with outstanding moisture transport characteristics and excellent flammability is of vital importance for human beings. In this work, the poly(arylene sulfide sulfone)–polydopamine/polyphenylene sulfide–polydopamine/poly(arylene sulfide sulfone) (PASS‐PDA/PPS‐PDA/PASS) composite fibric with multigradient porous structures from macro to submicron levels prepared via micrometer and nanometer fibers for water transport and evaporation has been fabricated. The introduction of PDA can effectively improve the hydrophilicity of the composite membrane. Meanwhile, superhydrophobic PASS layer with beaded structure was obtained by electrospray as the inner layer. It is found that PASS‐PDA‐72 fabric exhibited outstanding water diffusion property (spreading diameter = 10.47 cm) and ultrafast the water evaporation (0.20 g h−1). Meanwhile, the beaded‐structure PASS fabrics with high hydrophobicity (water contact angle is 130°C) was selected to absorb water from the surface of human skin and transport it to the other side to evaporate quickly, giving the surface of human skin a comfortable and dry environment. What is more, the PASS‐PDA/PPS‐PDA/PASS composite membrane exhibited excellent thermal stability (Tdmax = 544°C) and flame retardancy, which will have potential for the application in the field of fire protection. We have fabricated multifunctional conductive fabrics composed of polypyrrole/BaTiO3/poly(acrylonitrile‐co‐methylacrylate) (PPy/BaTiO3/P(AN‐co‐MA)(PBA) utilizing a simple process including dip coating and in situ chemical polymerization of pyrrole, which oxidized both ammonium persulfate (APS) and ammonium persulfate + iron (III) chloride (APS + FeCl3) for flexible and wearable textile applications. The influence of the oxidant nature, PPy content, and BaTiO3 on the surface structures, electrochemical, and semiconducting characteristics of the fabrics was examined using scanning electrochemical microscopy (SEM), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and the Mott–Schottky (M–S) studies. The study revealed that the size of the polymer nanostructures on fabric has an impact on the electrochemical impedance properties. Specifically, a decrease in diameter (when FeCl3 + APS is used) or the formation of more compact swelling surface structures (when only APS is used) is associated with changes in the conductivity of the coated fabric. Based on the EIS tests, the composite coating (S0.1, S0.2, and S0.3) with FeCl3 has a higher electrical conductivity compared to the coating with APS (PBA). The M–S tests indicate that the semiconducting characteristics of coated fabrics are dependent upon the kind of oxidant, the amount of PPy, and the presence of BaTiO3. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The problem of strength loss in electrically conductive composites made with dispersed fillers in the polymer binder is solved by spraying an aerosol of graphite on a textile material with a 3D weave of threads, or on knitwear of fibers with various structure and chemical composition. The loose microstructure of cotton fibers and the developed surface of elastic filaments made of synthetic polymers retain colloidal graphite particles in a layered composite during cyclic deformation. The electrical conductivity of knitwear with graphite changes during stretching due to the reversible displacement of graphite particles, first during straightening and then during stretching of elastic threads. The 130 ± 5 strain sensitivity GF and 12,000 ± 95 кPa−1 stress sensitivity QF of the composites presented in this paper exceed the corresponding parameters of known electrically conductive composites. The combination of a significant change in electrical conductivity with the elasticity of the developed knitwear‐based composite is important for the use in load cells, smart clothes, medical devices, and robotics. Remnant fabrics inherited from mid‐ridge play a key role in variations of plate deformation, hydration and seismicity along subduction zones. However, the quantitative relationships between the orientation of these remnant faults, plate bending and seismic activity at subduction zones still remain unclear. Here, we investigated the flexure of the Alaska subducting plate and assessed the relations between plate flexural curvatures, trench–fabric angle and seismicity. The results show that the flexural curvature and seismicity have nearly linear relationships with the trench–fabric angle. We find that remnant faults are more likely to be reactivated by plate bending at low trench–fabric angle region, causing greater plate deformation, hydration, weakening and seismicity. Plate weakening in turn promotes flexural bending curvature, resulting in higher degree of fracture and more earthquakes. However, at the high trench–fabric angle region, it is inclined to form new trench‐parallel bending faults that have smaller bending curvature and less seismicity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Hypertrophic scars (HS) are a common disfiguring condition in daily clinical encounters which brings a lot of anxieties and concerns to patients, but the treatment options of HS are limited. Black cloth ointment (BCO), as a cosmetic ointment applicable to facial scars, has shown promising therapeutic effects for facial scarring. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying its therapeutic effects remain unclear. Material and methods: Network pharmacology was first applied to analyze the major active components of BCO and the related signaling pathways. Subsequently, rabbit ear scar model was successfully established to determine the pharmacological effects of BCO and its active component β‐elemene on HS. Finally, the molecular mechanism of BCO and β‐elemene was analyzed by Western blot. Results: Through the network pharmacology, it showed that β‐elemene was the main active ingredient of BCO, and it could significantly improve the pathological structure of HS and reduce collagen deposition. BCO and β‐elemene could increase the expression of ER stress‐related markers and promote the increase of apoptotic proteins in the Western blot experiment and induce the apoptosis of myofibroblasts. Conclusions: Our findings indicate that the material basis for the scar‐improving effects of the BCO is β‐elemene, and cellular apoptosis is the key mechanism through which the BCO and β‐elemene exert their effects. Aiming at the defects in the process of fabric production, a defect detection model of fabric based on a mixed‐attention‐based multi‐scale non‐skipping U‐shaped deep convolutional autoencoder (MADCAE) was proposed. In a traditional encoder, the convolutional layer treats each pixel equally, so the importance of different pixels cannot be reflected. It is difficult to obtain richer and more effective information. The reconstruction of the defect region and the detection of the defect region are further affected. In this article, three different scale features of input images are extracted by enlarging the receptive field with large kernel convolution blocks. A hybrid attention module is used to ensure the richness of the extracted information in terms of space and channel. Experiments show that this method can effectively reconstruct fabric parts without requiring a large number of defect marking samples. Polypropylene (PP) yarn possesses the advantages of low density and exceptional mechanical properties. Through electrospinning, fibers of PP yarns can be refined from 10 to 20 μm to an ultrafine level, thereby acquiring an enlarged specific surface area and more functional sites, expanding its application in high‐value areas. Herein, vortex airflow‐assisted polymer melt differential electrospinning was proposed to fabricate PP microfiber yarns. Under the influence of an electrostatic field, molten PP automatically splits into multiple jets that are further stretched and cooled into ultrafine fibers by suction airflow induced by vortex airflow. Subsequently, multiple ultrafine fibers were twisted into PP yarns using the vortex airflow. The effects of voltage, melt feed speed, and air pressure on the PP electrospun yams formation process as well as the morphology and mechanical properties of both the yarn and fibers were investigated. The results showed that the diameter of PP fibers ranged from 3 to 5 μm. The PP microfiber yams exhibited a relatively high mechanical strength of 1.6 cN/tex under conditions of 56 kV voltage, 0.22 g/min feed rate, and 0.3 MPa air pressure. Finally, the woven fabric made from electrospun PP yams demonstrated higher hydrophobicity compared with fabric woven from commercial PP filaments, suggesting potential applications in waterproof fabrics. Fabric‐reinforced shape memory polymer composites are lightweight, strong, formable, controllable, and suitable for various engineering and innovative applications. This study aims to fabricate and characterize electrothermal dual drive shape memory polymer composite fabrics (SMPCFs) of different densities with three‐dimensional (3D) angle‐interlock structures. The tensile properties, electrothermal properties, recovery forces (both tensile and bending), and shape recovery properties of SMPCFs were evaluated. The SMPCFs exhibited a tensile elongation of over 20% at the transition temperature. SMPCFs can reach transition temperatures when loaded with 2 V. The recovery forces are up to 225 N in tensile recovery force and 3.6 N in bending recovery force. In the shape recovery test, the recovery ratio exceeded 97%. Finally, the demonstration of recovery properties can stimulate the possibilities of SMPCFs in innovation and applications. In recent years, the fashion apparel industry has been increasingly employing virtual simulations for the development of new products. The first step in virtual garment simulation involves identifying the optimal simulation parameters that accurately reproduce the drape properties of the actual fabric. Recent techniques advocate for a data‐driven approach, estimating parameters from outcomes of a Cusick drape test. Such methods deviate from standard Cusick drape tests, introducing high‐cost tools, which reduces practicality. Our research presents a more practical model, utilizing 2D silhouette images from the ISO‐standardized Cusick drape test. Notably, while past models have shown limitations in estimating stretching parameters, our novel approach leverages the fabric's tag information including fabric type and fiber composition. Our proposed model functions as a cascaded system: first, it estimates stretching parameters using tag information, then, in the subsequent step, it considers the estimated stretching parameters alongside the fabric sample's Cusick drape test results to determine bending parameters. Estimating fabric mechanical properties is crucial to create realistic digital twins. Existing methods typically require testing physical fabric samples with expensive devices or cumbersome capture setups. In this work, we propose a method to estimate fabric mechanics just from known manufacturer metadata such as the fabric family, the density, the composition, and the thickness. Further, to alleviate the need to know the fabric family –which might be ambiguous or unknown for nonspecialists–we propose an end‐to‐end neural method that works with planar images of the textile as input. We evaluate our methods using extensive tests that include the industry standard Cusick and demonstrate that both of them produce drapes that strongly correlate with the ground truth estimates provided by lab equipment. As the sustainable fashion movement gains momentum, there is a growing need to introduce such concepts to the next generation of fashion designer. One approach to produce sustainable designs is upcycling, defined as the salvage and reuse of discarded or found items into new products. This study examines a pedagogical approach for engaging 2nd year undergraduate textile and fashion design students in sustainable fashion design practice. Working in groups, students are challenged to upcycle old clothing into a little black dress, using a keyword as direction for concept, design development, and garment construction techniques. To elevate value in post‐consumer textile waste, it is necessary to develop high‐quality contemporary design outcomes. This teaching approach aims to encourage the revaluation of recyclable resources, the exploration of the creative potential of fabric manipulation techniques, experimental design development, and professional production techniques. Modeling the consolidation of fiber‐reinforced thermoplastic composites at the part level presents a formidable computational challenge due to the multi‐scale nature of the process. In this article, a method to bypass the multi‐scale problem by homogenizing the micro scale and describing the medium with characteristic parameters is described. The model is intended for press molding of hybrid textiles and considers a free‐form plate with non‐uniform thickness and can describe consolidation in three dimensions with some restrictions. 2D implementation in FEM shows how in‐plane matrix pressure gradients can arise in parts and cause fiber disorientation. Experimental verification demonstrates that fiber disorientation arises at the predicted location, and that defect size is proportional to matrix pressure gradient. This novel consolidation model provides new insights, enables part and process optimization, and paves the way for high‐quality composite part production. Textiles can be promising next‐generation wearable thermal management systems by exhibiting tunable infrared emissivity for dual‐mode control of cooling/warming, yet textiles often exhibit constant infrared emission. Herein, a dynamic thermoregulatory textile is woven from scalable‐manufactured radiative electrochromic fibers and is easily driven by a low voltage in a manner that results in a modulated emissivity of Δɛ≈0.35. Through a synergistic combination of the spiral outer electrode and electrochemically tunable carbon nanotube layer, excellent electrochemical controllability of the fibers is achieved over 100‐m length within 5s because of the decreased internal resistance with increasing length. As a result, the thermoregulatory textile suppresses substantial temperature variation and ensures excellent temperature regulation within ≈1.6 °C for simulated skin (much better than that of traditional textiles: ≈2.9 °C) under an ambient temperature fluctuation of 11.2 °C. Seamlessly integrating biosensors into clothing for personalized stress level monitoring, specifically targeting cortisol, a stress‐related compound found in sweat, shows great potential for efficiently monitoring and managing individual mental and physical well‐being. Nevertheless, realizing the fabric biosensor faces a notable challenge, as it involves the persistent obstacle of ensuring reusability and washability. Here, a fabric sensing system constructed by a fiber electrode for rapid and reliable cortisol detection with high repeatability, breathability, and stability is reported. The fibers are assembled from aligned carbon nanotubes and functionalized with a molecularly imprinted polymer containing redox‐active nanoreporters. Through washing with ethanol, the fabricated fabric sensor exhibits high reusability for over 100 cycles detecting cortisol. The key is the large active surface area and elaborately designed channel distance in the fiber electrode, ensuring a stable interface between the polymer and the fiber electrode. The close interaction between skin and clothing has become an attractive cornerstone for the development of therapeutic textiles able to alleviate skin disorders, namely those correlated to microbiota dysregulation. Skin microbiota imbalance is known in several skin diseases, including atopic dermatitis (AD), psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, rosacea, acne and hidradenitis suppurative (HS). Such microbiota dysregulation is usually correlated with inflammation, discomfort and pruritus. Although conventional treatments, that is, the administration of steroids and antibiotics, have shown some efficacy in treating and alleviating these symptoms, there are still disadvantages that need to be overcome. These include their long‐term usage with side effects negatively impacting resident microbiota members, antibiotic resistance and the elevated rate of recurrence. Remarkably, therapeutic textiles as a non‐pharmacological measure have emerged as a promising strategy to treat, alleviate the symptoms and control the severity of many skin diseases. This systematic review showcases for the first time the effects of therapeutic textiles on patients with skin dysbiosis, focusing on efficacy, safety, adverse effects and antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory properties. The main inclusion criteria were clinical trials performed in patients with skin dysbiosis who received treatment involving the use of therapeutic textiles. Although there are promising outcomes regarding clinical parameters, safety and adverse effects, there is still a lack of information about the impact of therapeutic textiles on the skin microbiota of such patients. Intensive investigation and corroboration with clinical trials are needed to strengthen, define and drive the real benefit and the ideal biomedical application of therapeutic textiles. The controllability of wrinkled structures is a crucial issue. In this study, inspired by caterpillars, we successfully impart superhydrophobic (SH) properties to fabrics using a two‐step method to prepare wrinkled structures. Relatively controlled and ordered micron‐sized circular and labyrinthine wrinkled structures are created on polyester fabrics by promoting the cross‐linking of polydimethylsiloxane under the action of argon plasma with mechanical stretch‐release properties and thermal expansion shrinkage. The global north is garnering multi‐stakeholder initiatives (MSIs) for circular textiles. Past MSIs however have yielded less‐than‐satisfactory social sustainability outcomes in Bangladesh. So this article asks, what impact has textiles MSIs have had on the sustainability transformation of the textiles chain in Bangladesh? And how can policymakers accelerate this transition to a circular economy? Fieldwork finds circularity issues are advancing at different rates because the industry transformation is suffering from lack of attention, motivation, knowledge, relationships, and resources at the micro‐level, and a lack of strategic alignment, structural flexibility, and routine rigidity, between MSI stakeholders, at the meso and macro levels. The article then discusses the role of MSIs in restructuring the global textiles industry and offers a five‐pronged approach to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. MXenes have emerged as a promising 2D material on account of their diverse properties and applications, especially in portable, wearable, and flexible smart textiles. This review presents the different properties of MXene, the development of electroconductive MXene‐based fibers, different types of MXene‐based fibers, and fabrics suitable for treatment with MXene. Interactions of natural and man‐made fibers with MXenes have been presented. Functional fibers have been incorporated into textiles, promoting the creation of strain sensors, pressure sensors, antennas, and heaters. Textiles with wearable multifunctional properties, such as humidity sensors, actuators, and electromagnetic interference shielding, are very promising for use in MXene‐based intelligent garments. Herein, a stretchable EMI shielding fabric is fabricated via electrospinning coupled with biaxial pre‐stretching spraying, in which a block stacking wrinkled silver nanowire (AgNW)/Ti3C2Tx MXene network is coated on one side of electrospun thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)/polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) fabric. As expected, the wrinkled structure protects conductive network from fracture during stretching process, so as to realize the strain‐invariant electrical conductivity. Thus, the fabric exhibits a stretchable EMI shielding performance of over 40 dB when subjected to 10–50% uniaxial strains or 21–125% biaxial strains. More importantly, the white TPU/PDMS side and the black AgNW/MXene side enable the fabric passive radiative cooling and heating, respectively. The cooling side exhibits high mid‐infrared emissivity (97.5%) and solar reflectance (90%), thus reducing the skin temperature by ≈4.9 °C. The heating side with high solar absorptivity (86.6%) and photothermal effect increased the skin temperature by ≈5 °C. Therefore, the fabirc with stretchable EMI shielding and Janus‐type dual‐mode personal passive thermal management is promising in future wearable products. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

High‐temperature environments pose significant risks to human health and safety. The body's natural ability to regulate temperature becomes overwhelmed under extreme heat, leading to heat stroke, dehydration, and even death. Therefore, the development of effective personal thermal‐moisture management systems is crucial for maintaining human well‐being. In recent years, significant advancements have been witnessed in the field of textile‐based cooling systems, which utilize innovative materials and strategies to achieve effective cooling under different environments. This review aims to provide an overview of the current progress in textile‐based personal cooling systems, mainly focusing on the classification, mechanisms, and fabrication techniques. Furthermore, the challenges and potential application scenarios are highlighted, providing valuable insights for further advancements and the eventual industrialization of personal cooling textiles. Impregnation of nano‐metal oxides can provide functional properties to textiles, like UV protection and self‐cleaning properties. These properties are quite important as they can provide protection against UV damage, help to reduce cleaning efforts, improve the ease of maintenance, and help to protect the water resources. The usage of nanoparticles improves multifunctional effects due to their high surface area. Therefore, in this study, nano‐sized TiO2 and ZnO were applied to cotton fabrics as single type or hybrids with different concentrations to reveal their effects on multifunctional properties (UV‐protection, self‐cleaning, wettability, photocatalytic activity). Also, the weight and air permeability of samples were determined to evaluate their usability. Scanning electron microscopy, x‐ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were also utilized to analyze the samples. According to the results, some samples exhibited good–very good UV protection. Up to 78.5% photocatalytic degradation of organic dye was achieved by nano‐TiO2 application. According to self‐cleaning test results, nano‐TiO2 applied samples showed yellowing after UV irradiation. Hybrid‐coated samples were more advantageous regarding self‐cleaning, especially against cherry juice stains. The staining and wettability results of the samples were in accordance. Weight and air permeability changes were acceptable to maintain the usage of the samples for clothing and other applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Designing textile‐based energy storage with both high electrochemical performance and available textile performance is crucial for developing smart textile. In this perspective, the concept of textile‐based energy storage and the viewpoint of balancing electrochemical performance and textile performance is proposed, which is paramount to establish high‐energy‐power density textile‐based energy storage devices; some key challenges are discussed in order to provide a framework on how textile materials and structures are employed in textile energy storage research; it further compiles and generalizes current findings in the fiber, yarn, and fabric‐type components/devices area and preliminary work in the manufactured and programmed textile‐based energy storage. The objective here is to establish a set of practical principles for commercial textile energy storage from textile perspective and describe in detail the scientific and technological breakthroughs that are shaping in energy storage area.
