The article presents a study which examines the condition of lymphatic vessel system in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) and determines the association of dystrophic changes and tissue damage with the lymphatic vessels changes. Identification of the lymphatic endothelial cells in skin biopsy samples from SSc patients was performed through staining for podoplanin and prox-1. Results show a severe reduction in patients' lymphatic capillaries and lymphatic precollector vessels.
