A nickel‐catalyzed reductive alkylative cyclization of 1,6‐enynes with alkyl bromides has been developed. This transformation avoids the use of stoichiometric organometallic reagents and introduces alkyl groups regio‐ and stereoselectively into the products. As one of the most potent greenhouse gases, SF6 has a significant economic and environmental impact on the purification and recovery of exhaust gases from the semiconductor industry. The adsorption and separation performance of SF6 on a two‐dimensional covalent organic framework TAT‐COFs‐1‐AB with different functional groups (SO3H, Et, NH2, OMe, OH, H) was investigated by using grand canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) simulations and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The results show that the adsorption at low pressure depends on the interactions between the SF6 and COF frameworks, while at high pressure it is mainly affected by the porosity. The highest adsorption capacity of 8.44 mmol/g (298 K, 100 kPa) is exhibited by TAT‐COF‐1‐AB‐H, which has the highest porosity. Chemical functionalization was found to be effective in enhancing the SF6/N2 selectivity. Among all the functionalized COFs, TAT‐COF‐1‐AB‐NH2, with the highest specific surface area and strong heat of adsorption, showed the highest selectivity. The simulation of self‐diffusion also shows consistent results with the GCMC simulation. The findings highlight that the adsorption capacity is influenced by substituent and porosity, with SF6 showing a consistent preference for adsorption at hollow sites, as evidenced by binding energy and charge transfer analyses. The Wangjiazhuang Cu (‐Mo) deposit, located within the Zouping volcanic basin in western Shandong Province, China, is unique in this area for having an economic value. In order to expound the metallogenetic characteristics of this porphyry‐like hydrothermal deposit, a detailed fluid inclusion study has been conducted, employing the techniques of representative sampling, fluid inclusion petrography, microthermometry, Raman spectroscopy, LA‐ICP‐MS analysis of single fluid inclusions, as well as cathode fluorescence spectrometer analysis of host mineral quartz. The deposit contains mainly two types of orebodies, i.e. veinlet‐dissemination‐stockwork orebodies in the K‐Si alteration zone and pegmatitic‐quartz sulfide veins above them. In addition, minor breccia ore occurs locally. Four types of fluid inclusions in the deposit and altered quartz monzonite are identified: L‐type one‐ or two‐phase aqueous inclusions, V‐type vapor‐rich inclusions with V/L ratios greater than 50%–90%, D‐type multiphase fluid inclusions containing daughter minerals or solids and S‐type silicate‐bearing fluid inclusions containing mainly muscovite and biotite. Ore petrography and fluid inclusion study has revealed a three‐stage mineralization process, driven by magmatic‐hydrothermal fluid activity, as follows. Initially, a hydrothermal fluid, separated from the parent magma, infiltrated into the quartz monzonite, resulting in its extensive K‐Si alteration, as indicated by silicate‐bearing fluid inclusions trapped in altered quartz monzonite. This is followed by the early mineralization, the formation of quartz veinlets and dissemination‐stockwork ores. During the main mineralization stage, due to the participation and mixing of meteoric groundwater with magmatic‐sourced hydrothermal fluid, the cooling and phase separation caused deposition of metals from the hydrothermal fluids. As a result, the pegmatitic‐quartz sulfide‐vein ores formed. In the late mineralization stage, decreasing fluid salinity led to the formation of L‐type aqueous inclusions and chalcopyrite‐sulfosalt ore. Coexistence of V‐type and D‐type inclusions and their similar homogenization temperatures with different homogenization modes suggest that phase separation or boiling of the ore‐forming fluids took place during the early and the main mineralization stages. The formation P‐T conditions of S‐type inclusions and the early and the main mineralization stages were estimated as ca. 156–182 MPa and 450–650°C, 350–450°C, 18–35 MPa and 280–380°C, 8–15 MPa, respectively, based on the microthermometric data of the fluid inclusions formed at the individual stages. Introduction: The current study aims to investigate the etiology spectrum and the clinical characteristics of bronchiectasis in Chinese children. Methods: The study is designed as a multicenter retrospective study. 193 cases were enrolled in 13 centers in China between 2008 and 2017. The inclusive cases must meet the clinical as well as the HRCT criteria. Only if both two radiologists confirmed the diagnosis, the case could be enrolled. The cases that could not provide clinical and imageology data were excluded. The data were entered into the specialized system and then analyzed. Results: One hundred sixty‐nine cases (87%) were found to have the underlying etiology. Post‐infective (46%), primary immunodeficiency (14%), and PCD (13%) were the common causes. All cases came from 28 provinces in Mainland China. The median age of symptom onset was 5.8 (2.0, 8.9) years. The median age of diagnosis was 8.4 (4.5, 11.6) years. The main symptoms were cough, sputum expectoration, and fever during the exacerbation. Nineteen percent of patients suffered from limited exercise tolerance. Clubbing was found in 17% of cases. Nearly 30% of patients presented growth limitations. On the HRCT findings, 126 cases had diffused bronchiectasis, and bilateral involvement was found in 94 cases. The lower lobes and right middle lobes were most commonly involved. Approximately 30% of cultures of sputum and bronchoalveolar lavage were positive. Conclusion: A majority of cases could be found the underlying etiology. Post‐infective, primary immunodeficiency, and PCD were the most common causes. Sesquiterpenes have been identified as promising ingredients for aviation fuels due to their high energy density and combustion heat properties. Despite the characterization of numerous sesquiterpene structures, studies testing their performance properties and feasibility as fuels are scarce. In this study, 122 sesquiterpenoid skeleton compounds, obtained from existing literature reports, are tested using group contribution and gaussian quantum chemistry methods to assess their potential as high‐energy aviation fuels. Seventeen sesquiterpene compounds exhibit good predictive performance and nine compounds are further selected for overproduction in yeast. Through fed‐batch fermentation, all compounds achieve the highest reported titers to date. Subsequently, three representative products, pentalenene, presilphiperfol‐1‐ene, and α‐farnesene, are selected, produced, purified in large quantities, and tested for use as potential fuels. The performance of pentalenene, presilphiperfol‐1‐ene, and their derivatives reveals favorable prospects as high‐energy aviation fuels. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Representative samples are important for multivariate calibration. The highly efficient selection of representative samples to be labelled can save money and time. Existing methods, such as Kennard‐Stone and net analyte signal selection, are usually based on the distance between candidate samples and labelled calibration sets in feature space. However, these distances are influenced by the feature space, which is spanned by an information vector extracted from labelled samples. To overcome the negative effects of the distance‐based selection method, a model performance enhancement‐based sample selection method is proposed to select calibration samples efficiently. Based on loss function optimization, the samples that can improve model performance the most, as estimated by bootstrap, are sequentially selected and added to the calibration set. Due to the high representation of each sample, a few samples can build a model that has no significant loss of prediction ability when compared with a model built with the large number set of calibration samples. The performance enhancement‐based active learning (PEAL) sample selection method is both effective and efficient. Model performance is used as the query criterion. A bioassay‐guided fractionation led to the isolation of hangtaimycin (HTM) from Streptomyces spectabilis CCTCC M2017417 and the discovery of its hepatoprotective properties. Structure elucidation by NMR suggested the need for a structural revision. A putative HTM degradation product was also isolated and its structure was confirmed by total synthesis. The biosynthetic gene cluster was identified and resembles a hybrid trans‐AT PKS/NRPS biosynthetic machinery whose first PKS enzyme contains an internal dehydrating bimodule, which is usually found split in other trans‐AT PKSs. The mechanisms of such dehydrating bimodules have often been proposed, but have never been deeply investigated. The newly discovered Shanzhuang BIF is hosted in the Shancaoyu Formation of the Taishan Group within the Eastern Block, southeastern margin of the North China Craton. The ores can be subdivided into three types in terms of mineral assemblages, corresponding to three types (I, II, III). The element concentration of the type I magnetite is similar to that of the type II magnetite, while the type III magnetite is similar to that of the schist. In general, magnetite and hematite grains from the ores show high concentrations of Mn (1317, 1162 ppm), Co (787, 1023 ppm), Al (2224, 2435 ppm) and Ti (540, 300 ppm), Whereas magnetite is depleted in Si (420 ppm) and hematite enriched in Si (1690 ppm). Detailed petrographic and mineral chemical analysis of magnetite, hematite, amphibole/hornblende and pyroxene, reveals that almost all the minerals occur as subhedral‐anhedral grains with pits and fractures, and the BIF is recrystallized to metamorphic assemblages of high amphibolite facies. Hornblende is highly enriched in Fe, Mg and Ca, but depleted in K and Na, mostly belonging to magnesiohornblende. In addition, the ratios of Mg/(Mg+Fe2+), Fe3+/(Fe3++Fe2+), Si/(Si+Ti+Al) and Al/Si are 0.48–0.64, 0.17–0.36, 0.79–0.88 and 0.14–0.27, respectively. It is suggested that hornblende is neither a typical magmatic origin nor a typical metamorphic. Pyroxene has the characteristics of high Ca and Fe, but low Ti and Al, with end‐member components En, Wo and Fs in the ranges of 25.22–28.64 wt%, 43.71–46.40 wt% and 24.51–27.62 wt%, respectively, belonging to clinopyroxene, and mostly diopside, might be formed during the prograde metamorphism in the absence of H2O. The carbonate such as dolomite‐ankerite series is probably a precursor mineral of the BIF deposit. Mass mineral chemical and structural characteristics indicate that the Shanzhuang iron deposit has been subjected to varying degrees of oxidized hydrothermal superimposed reformation, metamorphism, and supergenesis after mineralization, during which some elements have been migrated in some degree. Taiwan produces large quantities of bananas in the southern area. Recently, due to the export quantity has been greatly reduced, in order to efficiently maintain the banana agriculture and economy, the development of alternate uses of bananas has become urgently in need. Bananas contain a fair amount of nutrients with low glycemic index. Currently, as the bread consumption is increasing, we tried to manufacture banana‐assorted breads. The desiccated powders of Musa sapientum var TC2‐425 Linn [(genomically, called as Musa (AAA) (MA)] and Musa basjoo "Nam Wa" (MB) were separately incorporated at 15%, 20%, and 25% (denoted as MA15‐MA25 and MB15‐MB25). Results indicated that MA exhibited higher contents of moisture, ash, crude protein, and lutein, while with lower crude fat, crude fibers, carbohydrate, sodium, total soluble sugars, and pectin. The contents of taste compounds (name, samples in decreasing order) were as follows: 5′‐CMP (MB25, MB20); 5′‐GMP (MA25, MA20); 5′‐AMP (MB25, MA15); 5′‐XMP (MA25, MA20); 5′‐IMP (MA25, MB20, MB25); and 5′‐UMP (MA20, MA25, MB20). Hedonic scoring (HS) indicated MA15, MA20, MB15, and MB20 were more acceptable. Textural profile analysis (TPA; for 0–6 days, only 0–4 days are shown) revealed that "flavor," "mouthfeel," "hardness," "gumminess," and "chewiness" were the determinant key roles. Conclusively, due to different chemical constituent of banana, different recipes must be considered. The bread acceptability is affected by the fermentative profile which in turn is governed by the contents of soluble sugars, pectin, taste compounds, and the overall activity of yeast cells. Background: Chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) is a rare disease in China, and very little large‐scale studies have been conducted to date. We aimed to investigate the clinical and genetic features of CGD in Chinese pediatric patients. Methods: Pediatric patients with CGD from Beijing Children's Hospital, Capital Medical University, China, were enrolled from January 2006 to December 2016. Results: A total of 159 pediatric patients with CGD were enrolled. The median age of clinical onset was 1.4 months, and 73% (116/159) had clinical onset symptoms before the 1 year of age. The most common site of invasion was the lungs. The lymph nodes, liver, and skin were more frequently invaded in X‐linked (XL) CGD patients than in autosomal recessive (AR) CGD patients (P < 0.05). Approximately 64% (92/144) of the pediatric patients suffered from abnormal response to BCG vaccination. The most frequent pathogens were Aspergillus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Gene analysis indicated that 132 cases (89%, 132/147) harbored CYBB pathogenic variants, 7 (5%, 7/147) carried CYBA pathogenic variants, 4 (3%, 4/147) had NCF1 pathogenic variants, and 4 (3%, 4/147) had NCF2 pathogenic variants. The overall mortality rate in this study was 43%, particularly the patients were males, with CYBB mutant and did not receive HSCT treatment. Conclusions: Chronic granulomatous disease is a rare disease affecting Chinese children; however, it is often diagnosed at a later age, and thus, the mortality rate is relatively high. This study evaluated the role of post‐mastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT) in 111 patients with 1‐3 positive nodes, aged 65 years or above between 2007 and 2013. In total, 64 received PMRT. The PMRT group had more aggressive tumor. Three patients suffered locoregional recurrences in each group at median follow‐up of 50 months. PMRT has no significant impact on distant disease‐free survival (DDRFS), recurrence‐free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS). In patients with tumors >5 cm, PMRT significantly improved DDRFS, RFS, and marginally prolonged OS. These results supported that PMRT should not be compromised in all elderly patients, especially in those with tumor >5 cm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: Over the past 30 years, China has enjoyed rapid economic development along with urbanization at a massive scale that the world has not experienced before. Such development has also been associated with a rapid rise in the prevalence of allergic disorders. Because of the large childhood population in the country, the burden of childhood allergic disorders has become one of the major challenges in the healthcare system. Among the Chinese centers participating in the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood, the data clearly showed a continuing rise in the prevalence of asthma, allergic rhinitis, and atopic eczema. However, the discipline of pediatric allergy in mainland China is still in its infancy due to the lack of formal training program and subspecialty certification. Clinicians and researchers are increasingly interested in providing better care for patients with allergies by establishing pediatric allergy centers in different regions of the country. Many of them have also participated in national or international collaborative projects hoping to answer the various research questions related to the discipline of pediatric allergy and immunology. It is our hope that the research findings from China will not only improve the quality of care of affected children within this country but also the millions of patients with allergies worldwide. Diazirines are an attractive class of potential molecular tags for magnetic resonance imaging owing to their biocompatibility and ease of incorporation into a large variety of molecules. As recently reported, 15N2-diazirine can be hyperpolarized by the SABRE-SHEATH method, sustaining both singlet and magnetization states, thus offering a path to long-lived polarization storage. Herein, we show the generality of this approach by illustrating that the diazirine tag alone is sufficient for achieving excellent signal enhancements with long-lasting polarization. Our investigations reveal the critical role of Lewis basic additives, including water, on achieving SABRE-promoted hyperpolarization. The application of this strategy to a 15N2-diazirine-containing choline derivative demonstrates the potential of 15N2-diazirines as molecular imaging tags for biomedical applications. Apremilast (AP) {systematic name: ( S)-2-[1-(3-ethoxy-4-methoxyphenyl)-2-(methylsulfonyl)ethyl]-4-acetamidoisoindoline-1,3-dione} is an inhibitor of phosphodieasterase-4 (PDE4) and is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with active psoriatic arthritis. The ability of AP to form solvates has been investigated and three solvatomorphs of AP, namely, the AP ethyl acetate hemisolvate, C22H24N2O7S·0.5C4H8O2, the AP toluene hemisolvate, C22H24N2O7S·0.5C7H8, and the AP dichloromethane monosolvate, C22H24N2O7S·CH2Cl2, were obtained. The three AP solvatomorphs were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction was used to analyze the structures, crystal symmetry, packing modes, stoichiometry and hydrogen-bonding interactions of the solvatomorphs. In addition, dissolution analyses were performed to study the dissolution rates of different AP solvatomorph tablets in vitro and to make comparisons with commercial apremilast tablets (produced by Celgene); all three solvatomorphs showed similar dissolution rates and similar values of the similarity factor f2 in a comparison of their dissolution profiles. Human galectin-1 is a member of the galectin family, proteins with conserved carbohydrate-recognition domains that bind galactoside. Galectin-1 is highly expressed in various tumors and participates in various oncogenic processes. However, detailed descriptions of the function of galectin-1 in urinary bladder urothelial carcinoma have not been reported. Our previous cohort investigation showed that galectin-1 is associated with tumor invasiveness and is a possible independent prognostic marker of urinary bladder urothelial carcinoma. The present study aimed to clarify the relevance of galectin-1 expression level to tumor progression and invasion. In order to decipher a mechanism for the contribution of galectin-1 to the malignant behavior of urinary bladder urothelial carcinoma, two bladder cancer cell lines (T24 and J82) were established with knockdown of galectin-1 expression by sh RNA. Bladder cancer cells with LGALS1 gene silencing showed reduced cell proliferation, lower invasive capability, and lower clonogenicity. Extensive signaling pathway studies indicated that galectin-1 participated in bladder cancer cell invasion by mediating the activity of MMP9 through the Ras-Rac1- MEKK4- JNK- AP1 signaling pathway. Our functional analyses of galectin-1 in urinary bladder urothelial carcinoma provided novel insights into the critical role of galectin-1 in tumor progression and invasion. Interspecific hybridization is a driving force in evolution and speciation of higher plants. Interspecific hybridization often induces immediate and saltational changes in gene expression, a phenomenon collectively termed 'transcriptome shock'. Although transcriptome shock has been reported in various plant and animal taxa, the extent and pattern of shock-induced expression changes are often highly idiosyncratic, and hence entails additional investigations. Here, we produced a set of interspecific F1 triploid hybrid plants between Oryza sativa, ssp. japonica (2 n = 2 x = 24, genome AA) and the tetraploid form of O. punctata (2 n = 4 x = 48, genome, BBCC), and conducted RNA-seq transcriptome profiling of the hybrids and their exact parental plants. We analyzed both homeolog expression bias and overall gene expression level difference in the hybrids relative to the in silico 'hybrids' (parental mixtures). We found that approximately 16% (2,541) of the 16,112 expressed genes in leaf tissue of the F1 hybrids showed nonadditive expression, which were specifically enriched in photosynthesis-related pathways. Interestingly, changes in the maternal homeolog expression, including non-stochastic silencing, were the major causes for altered homeolog expression partitioning in the F1 hybrids. Prostate cancers that are resistant to hormone therapy are more invasive and have greater ability to spread to other organs than androgen-dependent prostate cancers. Furthermore, this type of prostate cancer is also highly resistant to current forms of chemotherapy. This study analyzed CXCL5/ENA78, which is highly expressed in androgen-independent prostate cancers, and is responsible for cell migration and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition in two androgen-independent prostate cancer cell lines. Inducement of PC-3 and DU145 cancer progression by CXCL5/ENA78 is associated with increased Raf/MEK/ERK activation, and the upregulation of early growth response-1 (Egr-1) and Snail. Blockade of Egr-1 decreased Snail upregulation and cell migration, indicating that Egr-1 is required in CXCL5/ENA78-mediated Snail enhancement and cell migration. In addition, Egr-1 siRNA also decreased the effect of CXCL5/ENA78 on p27 inhibition, Cdk4 induction and cell proliferation, suggesting Egr-1 is also involved in CXCL5/ENA78-mediated cell growth. Moreover, blocking ERK1/2 by siRNA suppressed CXCL5/ENA78-induced Egr-1 enhancement, cell migration, and proliferation. Our study suggests that inhibition of CXCL5/ENA78-mediated ERK/Egr-1/Snail signaling is an attractive therapeutic target for androgen-independent prostate cancer. J. Cell. To report the surgical outcome of retroperitoneoscopic hand-assisted laparoscopic nephroureterectomy (LNU) with bladder cuff excision for upper urinary tract transitional cell carcinoma (TCC), and to compare the outcome with that of the open procedure (ONU).From January 1998 to January 2003, 145 patients with upper urinary tract TCC were enrolled in the study; 87 had ONU and 58 retroperitoneoscopic hand-assisted LNU. The specimens were reviewed by experienced pathologists to confirm the pathological stage. Operative duration, intraoperative blood loss, bowel recovery, analgesic use, hospital stay and time to convalescence were compared for both groups. The Mann–WhitneyU-test and Fisher's exact test were used for statistical analysis.The mean follow-up for ONU and LNU was 35.1 and 16.0 months, the mean operative duration 230.2 and 259.1 min (P = 0.006), the mean blood loss 747.3 and 408.9 mL (P < 0.001), the mean duration of Foley catheterization 6.8 and 5.1 days (P < 0.001), and the hospital stay 12.6 and 9.3 days (P < 0.001). The bladder recurrence rate 2 years after surgery was 9.1% for ONU and 8.6% for LNU (P = 0.23); the local recurrence rate during the follow-up was 3.4% and none, respectively (P = 0.35).Although LNU took longer than ONU the intraoperative bleeding and hospital stay were better than for ONU. Patients with regional lymph node involvement were included, but patients with distant metastasis proven by imaging studies were ineligible. Irradiation dose of 45-50 Gy in 1.8-2 Gy daily was used for postoperative subclinical and microscopic disease; for unresectable gross tumors or postoperative residual tumors, a boost of 5-10 Gy to the gross tumor was used. Radical nephroureterectomy with removal of an ipsilateral bladder cuff is accepted as the curative therapy for non-metastatic UTUC, providing local tumor control and survival benefit.
