The short‐tail yellownose skate, Zearaja brevicaudata, occurs off southern Brazil and along the Argentine continental shelf, including waters surrounding the Islas Malvinas and the upper slope, and is very frequently caught by trawl fisheries throughout its range. The age, growth, and maturity of Z. brevicaudata were investigated using 204 individuals collected by commercial fishing vessels from northern Argentina, between March 2016 and September 2019. Age was determined on a sample comprising vertebrae from 151 individuals, 60 males, ranging in size from 391 to 956 mm total length (TL), and 91 females, ranging in size from 324 to 1060 mm TL. Maximum ages determined for males and females were 22 and 29 years, respectively. A Bayesian framework was employed with a set of three candidate models to estimate growth parameters (von Bertalanffy, Gompertz, and Logistic). The von Bertalanffy model had the best fit, and the sexes showed undistinguishable growth parameters. For sexes combined, derived growth mean parameters (± S.D.) were L∞ = 1081 mm ± 64.34 mm, k = 0.09 ± 0.01 years−1, and L0 = 248 mm ± 23.52 mm. Despite its importance in different occupational and everyday contexts, vigilance, typically defined as the capacity to sustain attention over time, is remarkably limited. What explains these limits? Two theories have been proposed. The Overload Theory states that being vigilant consumes limited information‐processing resources; when depleted, task performance degrades. The Underload Theory states that motivation to perform vigilance tasks declines over time, thereby prompting attentional shifts and hindering performance. We highlight some conceptual and empirical problems for both theories and propose an alternative: the Strategic Allocation Theory. For the Strategic Allocation Theory, performance on vigilance tasks optimizes as a function of intrinsic and extrinsic motivations, including metacognitive factors such as the expected value of effort and the expected value of planning. Limited capacities must be deployed across task sets to maximize expected reward. The observed limits of vigilance reflect changes in the perceived value of, among other things, sustaining attention to a task rather than attending to something else. Drawing from recent computational theories of cognitive control and meta‐reasoning, we argue that the Strategic Allocation Theory explains more phenomena related to vigilance behavior than other theories, including self‐report data. Humic substances (HS) are commonly employed as plant biostimulants to enhance crop yields. However, the HS mechanisms of action, as well as the differences between radicular and foliar modes of application, remain unclear. Here, we explored the changes in phytohormonal balance as possible mechanism of HS to enhance lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) growth, and the difference between both modes of application. For this purpose, BLACKJAK®, a HS‐based product was applied as radicular (R) and foliar (F) at the concentrations (mL/L): 0.20 (R1), 0.40 (R2), 0.60 (R3), 0.80 (R4), 5.00 (F1), 7.50 (F2), 10.00 (F3), and 12.50 (F4). The experiment was performed in pots filled with vermiculite:perlite (3:1) and HS were applied three times with a periodicity of 10 days. Shoot and root growth parameters were measured. In addition, the phythormones indole‐3‐acetic acid (IAA), gibberellins (GAs), trans‐zeatine (tZ), isopentenyl adenine (iP), 1‐aminocyclopropane‐1‐carboxylic acid (ACC), abscisic acid (ABA), jasmonic acid (JA), and salicylic acid (SA), were analysed by U‐HPLC‐MS. BLACKJAK® application resulted in higher shoot growth at doses R1, R2, R3, F2, and F3, whereas root biomass was increased at R2, R3, F2, F3, and F4, showing radicular better plant growth than foliar applications. Furthermore, HS changed phytohormonal balance in shoots and roots. However, it was with radicular applications, especially at R2, where phytohormonal profile was best associated with plant growth due to the increases observed in IAA, GAs, JA, SA, tZ, and decreased ABA. Summary: Background/Aims: Although it is well admitted that cirrhotic patients display various causes of neurocognitive impairment (NI) hampering the diagnosis of covert hepatic encephalopathy (CHE), those are almost never investigated per se. The aims of this study were, in cirrhotic patients displaying cognitive complaints explored by a complete multimodal work‐up, to assess: (1) the prevalence of CHE and/or that of other causes of NI and (2) their outcomes, according to the cause of NI. Methods: Prospective cohort of cirrhotic patients referred in a dedicated clinic because of cognitive complaints. Work‐up included a complete neuropsychological assessment, electroencephalogram (EEG) and brain magnetic resonance imaging with spectroscopy. The diagnosis of CHE was made by an adjudication committee involving the physicians/neuropsychologist. Results: One hundred and twenty‐three patients were included (alcohol/MASLD/virus in 63/53/14%, MELD = 11). Sixty‐six per cent of them were diagnosed with CHE; among them, 73% exhibited also other causes of NI, mainly cerebrovascular diseases/psychiatric. Among patients without CHE, 48% and 59% displayed pathological Psychometric Hepatic Encephalopathy Score and animal naming test, respectively. Clinical improvement was observed in 77% of the patients re‐evaluated after specific management. CHE, but not the other causes of NI, was independently associated with OHE occurrence. Conclusion: Other causes of NI than CHE are frequent in patients with cirrhosis, and not ruled‐out by the classical tests dedicated to CHE. Prognosis was influenced by the cause of NI. The management of patients even without CHE led to clinical improvement, underlining the need for a multifaceted approach of cirrhotic patients with cognitive complaints. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The majority of patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) exhibit aggregates of Trans‐active response DNA binding protein 43 (TDP‐43) in their hippocampus, which is associated with a more aggressive disease progression. The TDP‐43 inclusions are commonly found in neurons, but also in astrocytes. The impact of the inclusions in astrocytes is less known. In the current study, we investigate the presence of phosphorylated TDP‐43 (pTDP‐43) inclusions in astrocytic endfeet and their potential association with blood–brain barrier (BBB) damage, glymphatic system dysfunction, and AD pathology. By staining postmortem hippocampal sections from AD patients and non‐demented controls against TDP‐43 and pTDP‐43 together with the astrocytic markers glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), astrocytic endfeet marker Aquaporin‐4 (AQP4), and markers for BBB alterations (CD146) and leakiness (Immunoglobulin A), we demonstrate a close association between perivascular pTDP‐43 or TDP‐43 inclusions and GFAP or AQP4. These perivascular inclusions were more prominent in AD and correlated with the disease severity and loss of CD146 and AQP4. The findings indicate a relationship between pTDP‐43 accumulation in astrocytic endfeet and BBB and glymphatic system dysfunction, which may contribute to the downstream pathological events seen in AD patients and the aggressive disease progression. This paper critically explores the implications of generative artificial “intelligence” (GAI) technologies for literacy theory and practice through a case study of the author's use of OpenAI's ChatGPT. The study opens with an overview of recent literature surrounding the pedagogical implications of using GAI with a focus on issues of racial justice, outlining an abolitionist political ecology approach to literacy that extends relational theories of mediation to machine‐aided writing. The framework is then applied to data from a cognitive autoethnography of GAI use over a 6‐month period, which included a digital ethnography of ChatGPT and an extended semistructured “interview” with the GAI chatbot. Racial justice issues were found, especially linguistic and other biases. As such, soon‐to‐be ubiquitous artificial intelligence (AI) technologies require profound reconsideration of the productive value of literacy exploited by GAI, which will inevitably be pursued through an acquiescence or fundamental rupture with the dystopian visions of the technology's creators. Aim: To examine the climatic and biogeographic drivers of plant trait variation across Caribbean tropical dry forests, a system characterised by high rates of plant endemism despite low moisture availability, high rainfall variability and persistent exposure to hurricanes. Location: Caribbean tropical dry forests. Taxon: Woody plants. Methods: We used a database of 572 woody vegetation plots spanning across the Caribbean, including Florida. We then extracted seed mass, specific leaf area and wood density from global trait databases. We supplemented additional trait data from herbaria collections and calculated phylogenetic imputation of traits. Furthermore, we calculated presence–absence community means and functional diversity and correlated these metrics with bioclimatic variables in addition to island and dry forest area using generalised additive models. Results: Despite occurring in climatically distinct regions, Caribbean tropical dry forests are functionally similar, and the trait space of many dry forests are nested within the functional space of others. In line with island biogeographic theory, island area, dry forest area and island isolation were correlated with functional diversity. Although temperature and precipitation were important determinants of trait variation and functional diversity, environmental variables differently impacted trait variation and the variance explained was generally low. Main Conclusions: The high functional overlap among Caribbean dry forests is remarkable given the broad climatic gradient across these islands. High functional overlap suggests that environmental and biogeographic filters constrain plant form and function in these intrinsically fascinating systems. The trait space of these insular dry forest systems points to dispersal‐limitation, in addition to high temperature and water limitations, and favouring persistence strategies to withstand high frequency hurricane disturbance. Soil texture can affect soil temperature, soil moisture, the protection of organic material against microbial degradation, and other soil properties. All these factors potentially influence net nitrogen (N) mineralization. The objective of this analysis is to investigate the relationship between soil texture and net N mineralization using different approaches, including a 10-week laboratory incubation of undisturbed soil cores from 47 sites in California, modeling, and a meta-regression analysis of 461 datasets from 20 studies. In the laboratory incubation as well as in the meta-analysis, total soil N increased significantly with increasing clay content. Net N mineralization expressed in mg kg−1 soil did not change significantly with increasing clay content, but significantly decreased when expressed as a proportion of total soil N. These results are most likely explained by physical and chemical protection of organic molecules by clay minerals. Protection in turn led to the observed increase in total soil N over time. Based on the incubation and measured bulk densities, net N mineralization in the top 15 cm of the soil profile was 30% higher in a sandy loam compared to a clay soil. Model simulations indicated that texture-related differences in soil temperature and moisture have only a small effect on net N mineralization in irrigated agricultural fields under Mediterranean conditions. The present study reports the investigation of the influence of naphthalene–camphor binary solvent and the densification process on the pore structure formation of α‐alumina monoliths using the freeze‐casting technique with a freezing temperature control mechanism. Freeze‐casting technique allowed a controlled production of monoliths with high porosity (65%–70%) and distinct pore morphologies based on the adjustment of solvent composition (hypoeutectic, eutectic, and hypereutectic) and sintering time. In general, the longer the sintering time, the greater the average pore diameter (8–10 µm), the larger the grain size (∼319–596 nm), the higher the material density (∼1450–1650 kg/m3), the lower the open porosity (∼60%–49%), the higher the closed porosity (5%–18%), and the greater the compressive strength of the monoliths (hypoeutectic: 23.56 MPa; eutectic: 4.81 MPa; hypereutectic: 23.49 MPa). The study also reveals that the solvent composition directly influenced the alignment of the pore structure, as the pores of the final monolith resemble frozen solvent crystals. Hydraulic tortuosity varied from 1.30 to 1.53 for selected samples. Finally, solvent composition and sintering time proved to be important parameters that should be considered in the manufacturing process of porous ceramic structures via freeze casting. Targeted therapy has the potential to be used in the neoadjuvant setting for odontogenic tumors, reducing the morbidities associated with major surgery. In this regard, the aim of this study was to summarize the current evidence on the different forms of targeted therapy, effectiveness, and drawbacks of this course of treatment. Four databases were searched electronically without regard to publication date or language. Grey literature searches and manual searches were also undertaken. Publications with sufficient clinical data on targeted therapy for odontogenic tumors were required to meet the criteria for eligibility. The analysis of the data was descriptive. A total of 15 papers comprising 17 cases (15 ameloblastomas and 2 ameloblastic carcinomas) were included. Numerous mutations were found, with BRAF V600E being most common. Dabrafenib was the most utilized drug in targeted therapy. Except for one case, the treatment reduced the size of the lesion (16/17 cases), showing promise. Most of the adverse events recorded were mild, such as skin issues, voice changes, abnormal hair texture, dry eyes, and systemic symptoms (e.g., fatigue, joint pain, and nausea). It is possible to reach the conclusion that targeted therapy for ameloblastoma and ameloblastic carcinoma may be a useful treatment strategy, based on the findings of the included studies. Objectives: This systematic review and meta‐analysis aimed to evaluate the clinical and mycological effectiveness of mucoadhesives as vehicles for drugs or natural products in the treatment of oral candidiasis. Materials and methods: The search for articles was carried out in the Medline/PubMed, SCOPUS, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and SciELO databases before August 2023. We selected the studies, extracted the data, evaluated the study quality, graded the evidence, performed the risk of bias, and carried out meta‐analysis. Results: A total of 389 potentially relevant articles were identified, and 11 studies (1869 participants) met the inclusion criteria of the systematic review. The overall risk of bias was considered low. The most common presentation of mucoadhesives was tablets, with miconazole being the most frequently drug used in the delivery system. Mucoadhesives demonstrated comparable efficacy with topical or systemic antifungal agents, with no significant differences between treatments in terms of clinical (RR = 0.907; 95CI = 0.3–1.297; p = 0.591; I2 = 64.648) or mycological (RR = 0.95; 95CI = 0.667–1.360; p = 0.789; I2 = 73.271) efficacy. Conclusions: Mucoadhesives may be a suitable alternative to conventional treatments, with the advantage of reducing the frequency of application by up to 5 times and the daily dosage by up to 20 times. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the influence of translucent monolithic versus bilayered crowns and whether the use of a CoCr base abutments affects the fatigue and fracture resistance of screwed implant‐supported single crowns with external connections under mechanical cycling. Materials and Methods: Fifty specimens were divided into groups: (1) metal–ceramic (MC) crown, (2) veneered zirconia crown (Zr), (3) veneered zirconia crown with a CoCr base abutment (ZrB), (4) monolithic translucent zirconia crown (MZr), and (5) monolithic translucent zirconia crown with a CoCr base abutment (MZrB). Specimens underwent mechanical cycling (5 × 106 cycles; 150 N) evaluating fatigue resistance (number of failures) and those that failed were subsequently subjected to fractographic analyses (stereomicroscope and scanning electron microscope) to evaluate failure location and area, and maximum fracture load was also measured. Results: The failure‐related survival rate (100%) and maximum fracture resistance of the MZrB were significantly higher than those of MC and Zr (50%; p < 0.05). There were no significant differences in the failure rate and fracture resistance when a CoCr base abutment was used or not in the translucent monolithic Zr groups (p > 0.05;MZrB vs. MZr). Failure location, with MC crowns' fractures, noted at the screw area (p = 0.043), while all‐ceramic crowns were mostly in the cuspid and to failure area, the Zr group had the largest mean (15.55 ± 9.17 mm2) among the groups, significant difference only when compared with MC (1.62 ± 0.81 mm2) (p = 0.025). Conclusions: Translucent monolithic zirconia crowns exhibited significantly higher fatigue and fracture resistance compared with conventional MC and bilayered crowns. Clinical Significance: The appropriate choice of material and manufacturing technique is crucial for predicting the higher clinical performance of single crowns. Enhanced mechanical resistance in terms of fatigue and fracture resistance can be achieved by replacing MC and bilayered restorations with computer‐aided design and computer‐aided manufacturing monolithic zirconia. To inform the clinical practice guidelines' recommendations developed by the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology systematic reviews (SR) assessed using GRADE on the impact of environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) and active smoking on the risk of new‐onset asthma/recurrent wheezing (RW)/low lung function (LF), and on asthma‐related outcomes. Only longitudinal studies were included, almost all on combustion cigarettes, only one assessing e‐cigarettes and LF. According to the first SR (67 studies), prenatal ETS increases the risk of RW (moderate certainty evidence) and may increase the risk of new‐onset asthma and of low LF (low certainty evidence). Postnatal ETS increases the risk of new‐onset asthma and of RW (moderate certainty evidence) and may impact LF (low certainty evidence). Combined in utero and postnatal ETS may increase the risk of new‐onset asthma (low certainty evidence) and increases the risk of RW (moderate certainty evidence). According to the second SR (24 studies), ETS increases the risk of severe asthma exacerbations and impairs asthma control and LF (moderate certainty evidence). According to the third SR (25 studies), active smoking increases the risk of severe asthma exacerbations and of suboptimal asthma control (moderate certainty evidence) and may impact asthma‐related quality‐of‐life and LF (low certainty evidence). The biochemical and physical properties of a scaffold can be tailored to elicit specific cellular responses. However, it is challenging to decouple their individual effects on cell‐material interactions. Here, we solvent‐cast 3D printed different ratios of high and low molecular weight (MW) poly(caprolactone) (PCL) to fabricate scaffolds with significantly different stiffnesses without affecting other properties. Ink viscosity was used to match processing conditions between inks and generate scaffolds with the same surface chemistry, crystallinity, filament diameter, and architecture. Increasing the ratio of low MW PCL resulted in a significant decrease in modulus. Scaffold modulus did not affect human mesenchymal stromal cell (hMSC) differentiation under osteogenic conditions. However, hMSC response was significantly affected by scaffold stiffness in chondrogenic media. Low stiffness promoted more stable chondrogenesis whereas high stiffness drove hMSC progression toward hypertrophy. These data illustrate how this versatile platform can be used to independently modify biochemical and physical cues in a single scaffold to synergistically enhance desired cellular response. Microbial and microeukaryotic communities are extremely abundant and diverse in soil habitats where they play critical roles in ecosystem functioning and services that are essential to soil health. Soil biodiversity is influenced by above‐ground (vegetation) and below‐ground factors (soil properties), which together create habitat‐specific conditions. However, the compound effects of vegetation and soil properties on soil communities are less studied or often focused on one component of the soil biota. Here, we integrate metabarcoding (16S and 18S rRNA genes) and nematode morphology to assess the effects of habitat and soil properties shaping microbial and microeukaryotic communities as well as nematode‐associated microbiomes. We show that both vegetation and soil properties (soil bulk density) were major factors structuring microbial and microeukaryotic communities in semi‐arid soil habitats. Despite having lower nutrients and lower pH, denser soils displayed significantly higher alpha diversity than less dense soils across datasets. Nematode‐associated microbiomes have lower microbial diversity, strongly differ from soil microbes and are more likely to respond to microscale variations among samples than to vegetation or soil bulk density. Consequently, different nematode lineages and trophic groups are likely to display similar associated microbiomes when sharing the same microhabitat. Different microbiome taxa were enriched within specific nematode lineages (e.g. Mycobacterium, Candidatus Cardinium) highlighting potentially new species‐specific associations that may confer benefits to their soil nematode hosts. Our findings highlight the importance of exploring above‐ and below‐ground effects to assess community structure in terrestrial habitats, and how fine‐scale analyses are critical for understanding patterns of host‐associated microbiomes. ABSTRACT Background Aim Design Data Sources Results Conclusion Patients with end‐stage renal disease undergoing dialysis suffer from muscle cramps, a prevalent and burdensome symptom for which there is a paucity of efficient and safe treatments.What is the efficacy and safety of pharmacological interventions for the treatment of dialysis‐related muscle cramps?A systematic review was conducted in OVID, CINAHL, PubMed, Web of Science, and Central Cochrane databases up to August 25, 2023.Experimental studies reporting on a pharmacological intervention for the treatment of dialysis‐related muscle cramps were included. The review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analysis, and the studies quality was assessed with the RoB2 tool.A total of 4660 studies were retrieved, and 13 articles were included. The studies reported on nine interventions: vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K2, vitamin B7, dextrose solutions, gabapentin, sodium chloride, creatine monohydrate, and L‐carnitine. The studies testing L‐carnitine and creatine monohydrate were the only ones deemed to have a low risk of bias. Side effects were reported in only two trials, consisting primarily of gastrointestinal discomfort and hyperglycemia. Vitamins C and E are the two most studied interventions that showed positive results in reducing the frequency, severity, and duration of dialysis‐related muscle cramps. L‐carnitine is a promising intervention that warrants further investigation.Our review consolidates the existing evidence, elucidating the range of treatments along with their potential benefits and limitations. Introduction: Disparities in clinical trials (CTs) enrollment perpetuate inequities in treatment access and outcomes, but there is a paucity of Canadian data. The objective of this study was to examine disparities in cancer CT enrollment at a large Canadian comprehensive cancer center. Methods: Retrospective study of CT enrollment among new patient consultations from 2006 to 2019, with follow‐up to 2021 (N = 154,880), with the primary outcome of enrollment as a binary variable. Factors associated with CT enrollment were evaluated using multivariable Bayesian hierarchical logistic regression with random effects for most responsible physician (MRP) and geography, adjusted for patient characteristics (sex, age, language, geography, and primary care provider [PCP]), area‐level marginalization (residential instability, material deprivation, dependency, and ethnic concentration), disease (cancer site and stage), and MRP (department, sex, language, and training). A sensitivity analysis of the cumulative incidence of enrollment was conducted to account for differences in disease type and follow‐up length. Results: CT enrollment was 11.2% overall, with a 15‐year cumulative incidence of 18%. Lower odds of enrollment were observed in patients who were female (adjusted odds ratio [AOR], 0.82; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.78–0.86), ≥65 years (AOR vs. <40, 0.61; 95% CI, 0.56–0.66), non‐English speakers (0.72; 95% CI, 0.67–0.77), living ≥250 km away (AOR vs. <15 km, 0.71; 95% CI, 0.62–0.80), and without a PCP. Disease characteristics accounted for the largest proportion of observed variation (20.8%), with significantly greater odds of enrollment in patients with genitourinary cancers and late‐stage disease. Conclusion: Significant sociodemographic disparities were observed, suggesting the need for targeted strategies to increase diversity in access to cancer CTs in Canada. This study analyzed disparities in clinical trial enrollment among 154,880 patients treated over a 15‐year period at the largest comprehensive cancer center in Canada. Significant disparities were identified over several sociodemographic domains, including age, sex, language, and marginalization, which have not significantly improved over time. Objectives Methods Results Conclusions Clinical Significance This study aimed to assess the fit of interim crowns produced using DLP‐based 3D printing with different manufacturing workflows—open and proprietary—versus milling technology.A total of 120 crowns were evaluated using the replica technique. The control group (Mill, n = 30) was manufactured via subtractive technology. Experimental groups were printed using a DLP printer (SprintRay Pro95). In the proprietary mode (SR100, n = 30), manufacturer resin was used with a 100‐μm layer thickness (LT) and a splashing cleaning postprocessing. In the open mode, validated resin was used. Group B100 (n = 30) had a 100‐μm LT, and group B50 (n = 30) had a 50‐μm followed by postprocessing in an ultrasonic bath with full immersion in isopropyl alcohol. Kruskal–Wallis tests with Bonferroni correction was applied after normal analysis (α = 0.05).Group B50 exhibited the best overall fit (123.87 ± 67.42 μm), which was comparable to the gold standard Milling group, which demonstrated the lowest marginal fit (p = 0.760). SR100 showed significantly poorer performance compared to Mill, B50, and B100 (p < 0.001).3D printed and milled interim crowns generally demonstrated clinically acceptable fit, with the exception of the SR100 group. Postprocessing notably influenced crown fit, with the open mode with total immersion in isopropyl alcohol being superior.The present study demonstrates that the selection of an optimal manufacturing and postprocessing workflow results in superior fit for interim crowns. We investigate rank 3 instanton vector bundles on P3$\mathbb {P}^3$ of charge n$n$ and its correspondence with rational curves of degree n+3$n+3$. For n=2$n=2$, we present a correspondence between stable rank 3 instanton bundles and stable rank 2 reflexive linear sheaves of Chern classes (c1,c2,c3)=(−1,3,3)$(c_1,c_2,c_3)=(-1,3,3)$ and we use this correspondence to compute the dimension of the family of stable rank 3 instanton bundles of charge 2. Finally, we use the results above to prove that the moduli space of rank 3 instanton bundles on P3$\mathbb {P}^3$ of charge 2 coincides with the moduli space of rank 3 stable locally free sheaves on P3$\mathbb {P}^3$ of Chern classes (c1,c2,c3)=(0,2,0)$(c_1,c_2,c_3)=(0,2,0)$. Aim: Variation in spatial predictions of species' ranges made by various models has been recognized as a significant source of uncertainty for modelling species distributions. Consensus approaches that combine the results of multiple models have been employed to reduce the uncertainty introduced by different algorithms. We evaluate how estimates of habitat suitability, projected using species distribution models (SDMs), varied among different consensus methods relative to the variation introduced by different global climate models (GCMs) and representative concentration pathways (RCPs) used for projection. Location: California Floristic Province (California, US portion). Methods: We modelled the current and future potential distributions of 82 terrestrial plant species, developing model predictions under different combinations of GCMs, RCPs, time periods, dispersal assumptions and SDM consensus methods commonly used to combine different species distribution modelling algorithms. We assessed how each of these factors contributed to the variability in future predictions of species habitat suitability change and aggregate measures of proportional change in species richness. We also related variability in species‐level habitat change to species' attributes. Results: Assuming full dispersal capacity, the variability between habitat predictions made by different consensus methods was higher than the variability introduced by different RCPs and GCMs. The relationships between species' attributes and variability in future habitat predictions depended on the source of uncertainty and dispersal assumptions. However, species with small ranges or low prevalence tended to be associated with high variability in range change forecasts. Main Conclusions: Our results support exploring multiple consensus approaches when considering changes in habitat suitability outside of species' current distributions, especially when projecting species with low prevalence and small range sizes, as these species tend to be of the greatest conservation concern yet produce highly variable model outputs. Differences in vulnerability between diverging greenhouse gas concentration scenarios are most readily observed for end‐of‐century time periods and within species' currently occupied habitats (no dispersal). Summary: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a sleep disorder that has been associated with the incidence of other pathologies. Diagnosis is mainly based on the apnea–hypopnea index (AHI) obviating other repercussions such as intermittent hypoxemia, which has been found to be associated to cardiovascular complications. Blood‐based samples and urine have been the most utilised biofluids in metabolomics studies related to OSA, while sweat could be an alternative due to its non‐invasive and accessible sampling, its reduced complexity, and comparability with other biofluids. Therefore, this research aimed to evaluate metabolic overnight changes in sweat collected from patients with OSA classified according to the AHI and oxygen desaturation index (ODI), looking for potential cardiovascular repercussions. Pre‐ and post‐sleeping sweat samples from all individuals (n = 61) were analysed by gas chromatography coupled to high‐resolution mass spectrometry after appropriate sample preparation to detect as many metabolites as possible. Permanent significant alterations in the sweat were reported for pyruvate, serine, lactose, and hydroxybutyrate. The most relevant overnight metabolic alterations in sweat were reported for lactose, succinate, urea, and oxoproline, which presented significantly different effects on factors such as the AHI and ODI for OSA severity classification. Overall metabolic alterations mainly affected energy production‐related processes, nitrogen metabolism, and oxidative stress. A new genus and species, Castrila latens, native to the south‐eastern Iberian Peninsula, is described here for the first time and compared with its closest relatives. The plant is characterized by being annual, glabrous, having reduplicate leaves in whorls of (5)6–7, inflorescences capitate and involucrate, corolla shortly hypocrateriform and white, with yellowish doliiform tube, stamens included, and ovary and mericarps densely papillose. An endemic plant, it grows on the calcareous mountains of the Sierra Seca, Sierra de Castril, and Sierra de la Cabrilla, between 1800 and 2100 m of elevation, in the Granada and Jaén provinces (eastern Andalusia, Spain). For this genus and species, a description, an illustration, a distribution map, the chromosome number, the assessment of the conservation status, an estimate of the breeding system, and the situation in the Rubieae phylogenetic tree are provided. INTRODUCTION: Assessing the potential sources of bias and variability of the Centiloid (CL) scale is fundamental for its appropriate clinical application. METHODS: We included 533 participants from AMYloid imaging to Prevent Alzheimer's Disease (AMYPAD DPMS) and Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) cohorts. Thirty‐two CL pipelines were created using different combinations of reference region (RR), RR and target types, and quantification spaces. Generalized estimating equations stratified by amyloid positivity were used to assess the impact of the quantification pipeline, radiotracer, age, brain atrophy, and harmonization status on CL. RESULTS: RR selection and RR type impact CL the most, particularly in amyloid‐negative individuals. The standard CL pipeline with the whole cerebellum as RR is robust against brain atrophy and differences in image resolution, with 95% confidence intervals below ± 3.95 CL for amyloid beta positivity cutoffs (CL < 24). DISCUSSION: The standard CL pipeline is recommended for most scenarios. Confidence intervals should be considered when operationalizing CL cutoffs in clinical and research settings. An immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment promotes tumor growth and is one of the main factors limiting the response to cancer immunotherapy. We have previously reported that inhibition of vacuolar protein sorting 34 (VPS34), a crucial lipid kinase in the autophagy/endosomal trafficking pathway, decreases tumor growth in several cancer models, increases infiltration of immune cells and sensitizes tumors to anti‐programmed cell death protein 1/programmed cell death 1 ligand 1 therapy by upregulation of C‐C motif chemokine 5 (CCL5) and C‐X‐C motif chemokine 10 (CXCL10) chemokines. The purpose of this study was to investigate the signaling mechanism leading to the VPS34‐dependent chemokine increase. NanoString gene expression analysis was applied to tumors from mice treated with the VPS34 inhibitor SB02024 to identify key pathways involved in the anti‐tumor response. We showed that VPS34 inhibitors increased the secretion of T‐cell‐recruitment chemokines in a cyclic GMP‐AMP synthase (cGAS)/stimulator of interferon genes protein (STING)‐dependent manner in cancer cells. Both pharmacological and small interfering RNA (siRNA)‐mediated VPS34 inhibition increased cGAS/STING‐mediated expression and secretion of CCL5 and CXCL10. The combination of VPS34 inhibitor and STING agonist further induced cytokine release in both human and murine cancer cells as well as monocytic or dendritic innate immune cells. Finally, the VPS34 inhibitor SB02024 sensitized B16‐F10 tumor‐bearing mice to STING agonist treatment and significantly improved mice survival. These results show that VPS34 inhibition augments the cGAS/STING pathway, leading to greater tumor control through immune‐mediated mechanisms. Structures in nature are often multi‐material, and their structures have a fine balance between segregation and aggregation (mixed, but not scrambled) that provides functionality. Chaotic fabrication, a technology that exploits the ability of chaotic advection to create predictable and reproducible multilayered structures, excels at producing materials where this balance can be achieved and finely tuned. This method is based on the use of chaotic mixing systems, which can produce constructs with highly organized internal micro‐architecture in a simple and cost‐effective way. This manuscript provides a perspective on how chaotic printing can be a great enabler in the manufacture of advanced materials, including living tissues. Chaotic printing may overcome many of the critical hurdles that are currently faced in manufacturing and biofabrication (e.g., creating a wide array of interfaces, reaching high resolutions rapidly and at low cost, and producing densely vascularized tissues). The manuscript introduces the technology, explains how the idea originated, presents a timeline that provides a recapitulation of the milestones achieved so far, describes the main characteristics, advantages, limitations, and challenges of the technology, and concludes with future perspectives on the evolution and use of this versatile method. Objectives: This scoping review aimed to identify the available evidence in the use of 3D printing technology in dental implantology. Due to the broad scope of the subject and its application in implantology, three main areas of focus were identified: (1) customized dental implants, (2) manufacturing workflow for surgical implant guides, and (3) related implant‐supported prostheses factors, which include the metallic primary frameworks, secondary ceramic or polymer superstructures, and 3D implant analog models. Materials and Methods: Online databases (Medline, Cochrane, Embase, and CINAHL) were used to identify the studies published up to February 2023 in English. Two experienced reviewers performed independently the screening and selection among the 1737 studies identified. The articles evaluated the additive manufacturing (AM) technology, materials, printing, and post‐processing parameters regarding dental implantology. Results: The 132 full‐text studies that met the inclusion criteria were examined. Thirteen studies of customized dental implants, 22 studies about the workflow for surgical implant guides, and 30 studies of related implant‐supported prostheses factors were included. Conclusions: (1) The clinical evidence about AM titanium and zirconia implants is scarce. Early data on survival rates, osseointegration, and mechanical properties are being reported. (2) 3D printing is a proven manufacturing technology to produce surgical implant guides. Adherence to the manufacturer's instructions is crucial and the best accuracy was achieved using MultiJet printer. (3) The quality of 3D printed prosthetic structures and superstructures is improving remarkably, especially on metallic alloys. Key Clinical Message: Whole‐exome sequencing (WES) analysis of an expansive case florid cemento‐osseus dysplasia were reported for the first time. Also, the new potential candidate genes were reported to expand our knowledge about their molecular pathogenesis. We report a case of expansive florid cemento‐osseus dysplasia in a 32‐year‐old female patient who presented an expansive tumoral lesion in the anterior mandible. As florid cemento‐osseus dysplasia have only been molecularly investigated using targeted‐sequencing, fragments of the lesion were collected and subjected to molecular investigation using WES to assess somatic mutations as well as copy number alterations. No gains and losses of chromosomal arms or segments longer than 1 Mb were detected. Our findings revealed a pathogenic stopgain variant at the KIF5C gene, a stoploss variant at MAPK10, and missense SNV at COL6A2 at DCDC1, suggesting potential candidate genes associated with florid cemento‐osseus dysplasia. Impulse control disorders and their consequences display variability among individuals, indicating potential involvement of environmental and genetic factors. In this retrospective study, we analyzed a cohort of Parkinson's disease patients treated with dopamine agonists and investigated the influence of the dopamine D4 receptor gene polymorphism, DRD4 7R+, which is linked to psychiatric disorders, impulsive traits, and addictive behaviors. Summary: This study focused on the preparation of lipid concentrates with high contents of bioactive molecules. Different one‐step and two‐step extractions with non‐halogenated solvents (hexane, HX; isopropanol, IP) were carried out on Patagonian squid (Doryteuthis gahi) discards. As a first step, HX extractions (one, two or three times) were carried out. The resulting substrates were extracted with IP (two, three or four times). Analysis of lipid extracts included total lipid, phospholipid (PL) and tocopherol values, and fatty acid (FA) profile. HX extractions led to remarkable α‐ and γ‐tocopherol values (ca. 1400 and 23 mg kg−1 lipids, respectively); no effect (P > 0.05) of the number of HX extractions was observed. IP extracts provided high PL values (383–501 mg kg−1 lipids); the highest average values were detected with four IP extractions after three HX extractions. Values obtained for tocopherols and PLs were higher (P < 0.05) than those obtained by employing the conventional (chloroform/methanol, 1:1) lipid extraction (ca. 496 and 11 mg kg−1 lipids and 400 g kg−1 lipids, respectively). Range values detected for eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acid values and the ω3/ω6 FA ratio were similar to those obtained by the conventional procedure. The burden of cardiovascular disease is particularly high among individuals with diabetes, even when LDL cholesterol is normal or within the therapeutic target. Despite this, cholesterol accumulates in their arteries, in part, due to persistent atherogenic dyslipidaemia characterized by elevated triglycerides, remnant cholesterol, smaller LDL particles and reduced HDL cholesterol. The causal link between dyslipidaemia and atherosclerosis in T2DM is complex, and our contention is that a deeper understanding of lipoprotein composition and functionality, the vehicle that delivers cholesterol to the artery, will provide insight for improving our understanding of the hidden cardiovascular risk of diabetes. This narrative review covers three levels of complexity in lipoprotein characterization: 1—the information provided by routine clinical biochemistry, 2—advanced nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based lipoprotein profiling and 3—the identification of minor components or physical properties of lipoproteins that can help explain arterial accumulation in individuals with normal LDLc levels, which is typically the case in individuals with T2DM. This document highlights the importance of incorporating these three layers of lipoprotein‐related information into population‐based studies on ASCVD in T2DM. Summary: Background: The consumption of ultra‐processed foods (UPFs) is associated with an increased risk of noncommunicable diseases and mortality in adults. The aim of this study was to analyse the association between mealtime television (TV) watching and UPF consumption in childhood. Materials and Methods: Participants in the SENDO project recruited in 2015–2023 were classified into three categories based on the frequency at which they watched TV during meals. Dietary information was collected with a validated 147‐item semi‐quantitative food frequency questionnaire. Generalized mixed models were used to compare mean UPF consumption between groups after accounting for the main confounders. The predictive margins of participants who had a free sugar intake >10% of their energy intake in each category were also calculated. Results: Totally 970 subjects (482 girls) with a mean age of 5.00 years (SD = 0.85) were studied. Children who watched TV during meals ≥4 times/week consumed a mean of 4.67% more energy from UPF than those who watch TV <3 times/month. The adjusted proportions of children who had a free sugar intake >10% of their energy intake in the categories of <3 times/month, 1–3 times/week and ≥4 times/week exposure to TV during meals were 44.9%, 45.9% and 58.7%, respectively. Summary: Patients aged 50 or above diagnosed with myeloid neoplasms (MNs) are typically not candidates for germline testing. However, approximately 8% carry pathogenic germline variants. Allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (alloHSCT) remains an option for those aged over 50; neglecting germline testing could mask the risk for relative donor cell‐derived MN. We propose a germline‐augmented somatic panel (GASP), combining MN predisposition genes with a myeloid somatic panel for timely germline variant identification when initial testing is not indicated. Out of our 133 whole‐exome‐sequenced MN cases aged over 50 years, 9% had pathogenic/likely variants. GASP detected 92%, compared to 50% with somatic‐only panel. Myositis ossificans, a benign tumor composed of spindle cells and osteoblasts, can clinically and radiologically mimic osteosarcoma. While recognition and accurate diagnosis of myositis ossificans can be a challenge, this is critical as it may allow a conservative surgical approach to maximize functional outcomes. Herein, we present a patient with surface myositis ossificans confirmed genetically by the presence of COL1A1::USP6 gene fusion, along with a literature review. Due to the enhanced visualization of the bone matrix, computed tomography (CT) imaging may be a superior imaging modality to magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. Staged biopsies with samples obtained from the periphery and center of the lesions may allow pathologists to discern the zonal distribution histologically. Furthermore, immunohistochemistry fluorescence in situ hybridization and molecular testing can aid in the distinction of myositis ossificans from mimics. Because of their resemblance to other bone tumors, these cases of myositis ossificans highlight the importance of a multidisciplinary approach integrating clinical, radiologic, and pathologic analysis and involving serial imaging, sampling, and judicious use of ancillary immunohistochemical and molecular testing. Diet plays an essential role in health and disease. Therefore, its determination is an important component of many investigations. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of a nutritional intervention on the urinary metabolome in children aged 6–12 years. Also, it was intended to identify biomarkers of diet quality and dietary intake. A 2‐month, randomized, controlled, parallel trial was conducted in Spanish children. The analyses focused on the ALINFA group, which followed a full‐fixed meal plan including healthy products, ready‐to‐eat meals, and healthy recipes. Diet quality was assessed by the KIDMED index and dietary intake by a food frequency questionnaire. Untargeted metabolomic analysis on urine samples was carried out, and multivariate analyses were performed for pattern recognition and characteristic metabolite identification. PLS‐DA and Volcano plot analyses were performed to identify the discriminating metabolites of this group. 12 putative metabolites were found to be the most relevant to this intervention. Most of them were products derived from protein and amino acid metabolism (N‐Ribosylhistidine, indolacrylic acid, and peptides) and lipid metabolism (3‐oxo‐2‐pentylcyclopentane‐1‐hexanoic acid methyl, Suberoyl‐L‐carnitine, and 7‐Dehydrodichapetalin E). All these metabolites decreased after the intervention, which was mainly associated with a decrease in the consumption of fatty meat and total fat, especially saturated fat. In turn, N‐Ribosylhistidine and Suberoyl‐L‐carnitine were negatively associated with diet quality, as well as able to predict the change in KIDMED index. Burnout syndrome is a mental health condition related to chronic occupational stress; its prevalence, as well as its relationship with other mental health disorders in physicians, has become a topic of growing interest. However, no studies with large sample sizes evaluate this association in dermatologists. With this background, a cross‐sectional study was designed, which included 420 Spanish dermatologists; the mean age was 44.5 years (12.39), and 62% (260/420) were women. Eleven percent (45/420) of the participants presented a moderate risk of burnout, more than half of the sample had at least one of the burnout symptoms, 47% (198/420) had some degree of anxiety, and 20.3% (85/420) presented some degree of depression. Less than 1% (4/420) demonstrated a high risk of alcohol use disorder. Being female was associated with a higher risk of depression and anxiety. Meanwhile, men and residents showed an increasedrisk of alcohol use disorder. This article discusses the impact of comorbidities on the achievement of therapeutic goals in biologic-treated asthma patients. The use of biologics has been effective in managing severe asthma, but only a minority of patients achieve a "complete response." Comorbidities, which are common in patients with severe asthma, can interfere with treatment outcomes. The study analyzed data from 438 patients and found that comorbidities such as obesity, anxiety, and depression were associated with a higher likelihood of uncontrolled symptoms. In small‐scale societies, people learn to identify plant species during childhood. Plant recognition is an important baseline knowledge, immediately useful to avoid intoxication risk due to wrong identification. Plant recognition is the basis of other ethnobotanical knowledge essential for safeguarding biocultural diversity. However, despite many studies on folk classification, we still have a narrow understanding of the criteria locally used for species identification; the gap being even larger regarding children's plant identification criteria.Here, we study the criteria used by Betsileo children and adolescents to identify wild edible plant (WEP) species using a child‐adapted method including drawings and follow‐up interviews. We worked with 80 teenagers (from 12 to 17 years old; 51 girls, and 29 boys).Our results suggest that teenagers use a large spectrum of visual criteria to identify plants and that these criteria match with botanical and ecological knowledge documented in the literature and herbarium vouchers. We found that 35% of the identification criteria used were non‐morphological (e.g. phenology, biotic interactions), suggesting deep ecological knowledge.On average, teenagers use more than nine distinct criteria per plant, which allows them to identify most plant species with a very high level of precision. The precision level of plant representation increases with age for boys, but remains constant for girls, suggesting different dynamics in plant identification knowledge acquisition.We also found that boys and girls use different identification criteria: girls focus on morphological criteria while boys also incorporate ecological criteria, such as landscape features and biotic interactions, in their spectrum of identification keys.Our results highlight the complexity of teenagers' plant knowledge and the importance of the ecological context and gender in plant identification's knowledge acquisition.This knowledge acquired very early in childhood, constitutes the foundation of future interactions with nature and should be at the heart of environmental humanities studies and knowledge co‐production projects to tackle socio‐ecological concerns. Background: Borolatonin is a potential therapeutic agent for some neuronal diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD). Its administration exerts ameliorative effects such as those induced by the equimolar administration of melatonin in behavioral tests on male rats and in neuronal immunohistochemistry assays. Objective: In this study, motivated by sex differences in neurobiology and the incidence of AD, the ability of borolatonin to induce changes in female rats was assessed. Methods: Effects of borolatonin were measured by the evaluation of both behavioral and immunohistopathologic approaches; additionally, its ability to limit amyloid toxicity was determined in vitro. Results: Surprisingly, behavioral changes were similar to those reported in male rats, but not those evaluated by immunoassays regarding neuronal survival; while pro‐brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) immunoreactivity and the limitation of toxicity by amyloid in vitro were observed for the first time. Conclusion: Borolatonin administration induced changes in female rats. Differences induced by the administration of borolatonin or melatonin could be related to the differences in the production of steroid hormones in sex dependence. Introduction: Arthralgias are prevalent in systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases (SARD), emphasizing the need for early recognition. This study aimed to estimate SARD frequency and compare clinical, laboratory, and imaging findings among SARD, non‐inflammatory arthralgia (NIA), and RA in patients with hand arthralgias. Methods: A prospective evaluation program included individuals aged ≥18 with hand arthralgias. Baseline assessments covered clinical, laboratory, ultrasound, and radiography. Follow‐up diagnoses categorized patients into SARD, NIA, and RA groups. Comparison between groups was performed using parametric and non‐parametric tests. Two multivariate logistic regression analyzes were performed using the final diagnosis of SARD as the dependent variable (NIA and RA). ROC curves were calculated in those variables that presented an independent association in the multivariate analysis. Results: Among 1053 patients, 9.6% were SARD (SLE 47%). Comparing SARD with NIA revealed higher CRP levels, power Doppler, less rhizarthrosis in ultrasound, and more ANA positivity in SARD patients. Distinct differences were observed between SARD and RA patients in terms of pain levels, swollen joints, metacarpophalangeal involvement and morning symptoms. Sirex noctilio is an invasive forest wasp that affects pines in many parts of the globe and can result in severe economic losses. Current trapping methods for monitoring the pest rely heavily on non‐specific semiochemicals. This lack of specificity can translate into low attraction/capture levels, something that is undesired, especially when the intent is to detect the pest when still at low population densities. In this context, an interesting opportunity arises to increase trap sensitivity by incorporating visual cues. For this, we evaluated potential sources of visual information that, in accordance with the ecology of the species, could elicit an attractive response complementary to the olfactory cues. We measured the reflectance spectra of pine bark, chlorotic needles and woodwasp male abdomens. The spectra were then compared with 120 commercial paint colours to be applied on panel traps. During two flight seasons, field experiments were conducted with the deployment of 155 traps, combining the volatile bait (turpentine) and different coloured traps. We observed a significantly higher number of captures towards traps with pine bark‐like colourations compared with the black control traps. Our results are encouraging, as they suggest the potential of combining visual and chemical information for sustainable pest biomonitoring. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Drawing on approximately 4000 face‐to‐face interviews with lower house members from seventeen Latin American countries, this article demonstrates how partisan considerations shape legislators' preferences for power‐sharing institutions. Distributive models argue that reforming parties derive preferences based on potential advantages in power allocation, yet the role of individual legislators remains underexplored. The evidence reveals that legislators favor institutional arrangements that maximize their party's influence. Representatives from larger parties prefer electoral rules that reduce the number of parties in the House, while incumbent lawmakers support a stronger executive. Notably, party positions often shift following changes in electoral fortunes: Parties become more favorable of proportional representation after losing seats and advocate for reinforced congressional authority upon leaving office. Electrocardiography imaging (ECGi) is a non‐invasive inverse reconstruction procedure which employs body surface potential maps (BSPM) obtained from surface electrode array measurements to improve the spatial resolution and interpretability of conventional electrocardiography (ECG) for the diagnosis of cardiac dysfunction. ECGi currently lacks precision, which has prevented its adoption in clinical setups. The introduction of high‐density electrode arrays could increase ECGi reconstruction accuracy but is not attempted before due to manufacturing and processing limitations. Advances in multiple fields have now enabled the implementation of such arrays which poses questions on optimal array design parameters for ECGi. In this work, a novel conducting polymer electrode manufacturing process on flexible substrates is proposed to achieve high‐density, mm‐sized, conformable, long‐term, and easily attachable electrode arrays for BSPM with parameters optimally selected for ECGi applications. Temporal, spectral, and correlation analysis are performed on a prototype array demonstrating the validity of the chosen parameters and the feasibility of high‐density BSPM, paving the way for ECGi devices fit for clinical application.
