The article discusses the study which demonstrated the association between aneuploidy and single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT). It says that chromosomal aneuploidy and mitotic spindle aberrations in more than half of the cells examined in the study developed following exposure to higher amount of SWNT. It shows that DNA damage, regulation of mitotic spindle motor movement, or regulation of activity of misfolded proteins can cause the fragmentation of the centrosome.
