Background/Objective: Current guidelines recommend biopsychosocial‐informed treatment for chronic pelvic pain (CPP). The objective of this systematic review was to describe the available biopsychosocial approaches for the treatment of CPP, and the outcomes reported, to understand how guideline‐recommended treatments can be applied. Search Strategy: MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, EMBASE, Emcare, AMED and Cochrane trial registries were searched (inception to 17 November 2023). Selection Criteria: CPP Studies in women where the principal treatment modality was a biopsychosocial approach were included. Prospero registration: CRD42022374256. Data Collection/Analysis: Data extraction included study setting, population, study design, intervention characteristics and outcome measures and is described via a narrative synthesis. Results: The review included 14 RCTs (871 patients) and identified four broad intervention categories (Acceptance Commitment Therapy n = 2, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy n = 6, Mindfulness‐based approaches n = 2, and Physiotherapy‐based interventions n = 4). Pain science education (PSE) and, exposure/engagement with valued activity were recognised as important aspects of treatment regardless of intervention type. The most utilised outcomes were pain reduction and emotional functioning, with all studies reporting improvements in these domains. Heterogeneity in outcomes prevented efficacy comparison. High risk of bias was identified in six studies (1/4 physiotherapy‐based approaches, 2/6 CBT, 1/2 ACT and 2/2 mindfulness‐based interventions). Conclusions: CBT and ACT‐based biopsychosocial approaches were found effective in reducing pain and improving psychometric outcomes for CPP. Evaluation indicated PSE, and exposure/engagement in valued activity are important components of biopsychosocial management. Outcome heterogeneity needs to be addressed in future trials. This systematic review summarizes the available evidence on respiratory muscle endurance training involving voluntary isocapnic hyperpnoea among patients with chronic diseases. It includes both randomized and non‐randomized controlled trials implementing this exercise training modality performed either alone or in combination with other interventions. It was conducted using the following databases: PubMed, Google Scholar, Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), Embase, CINAHL, CENTRAL, Cochrane and ReeDOC. It was drafted in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. The final analysis was conducted on 12 studies (n = 257). There was heterogeneity in participants, training modalities and comparators used. The underpowered level of evidence is attributable to the lack of robustness of the original studies, including a lack of description of the intervention, lack of blinding, and missing data. Respiratory muscle endurance training is an exercise training modality that is both safe and feasible, even in the setting of the patient's home. It increases respiratory endurance time. However, its effect on peak oxygen consumption at exercise, maximal work rate, 6‐min walking distance, quality of life, dyspnoea and fatigue remains to be confirmed. In conclusion, this systematic review shows that respiratory muscle endurance training increases respiratory endurance among patients with chronic diseases. The populations that benefit the most and the mechanisms involved remain to be investigated. Further high‐quality studies are needed to understand its role, whether it is performed alone or as an add‐on modality to usual pulmonary rehabilitation programmes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The stress‐coping ability (SCA) is one of the core aspects of fish welfare and is of vital importance for fish production in the aquaculture industry and for fish fitness in hatchery release. Environmental enrichment (EE), a method of introducing external stimuli into the husbandry environment, has been recently proposed to improve fish SCA, but the present experimental evidence is mixed, and the reasons for these discrepancies are unclear. Here, we conducted a global meta‐analysis using a data set that consists of 1786 cases from 107 studies across 42 fish species to solve this problem. Overall, we found that enriched fish had significantly higher SCA than control fish, reflected in either basal stress levels or stress responses. Meta‐regression analyses showed that specific subgroups of enrichment type, fish developmental stage, stress category, stress duration, stress place, sample tissue and indicator system showed significant positive EE effects on SCA. Multi‐model inference indicated that the indicator system, fish developmental stage, stress characteristic and enrichment mode are important drivers for the high heterogeneity among effect sizes. These results highlight the importance of introducing EE into the rearing systems, which will not only increase the welfare of aquaculture fish but also improve the ecological adaptability of released fish. The comprehensive knowledge obtained in this analysis will provide insights into fish ontogenetic plasticity and its responses to EE and have important implications for improving the production cycle in fish aquaculture and fisheries conservation. Background Aim Design Results Conclusion Practice‐integrated residency programs are one of the most recognised training platforms for early career development across settings, including hospital pharmacy. They embed a structured education and competency framework and preceptor mentoring systems in the workplace.This review aimed to map the global literature on practice‐integrated education and professional development programs for early career hospital pharmacists, with a focus on how the programs were implemented and structured.A search was applied to electronic databases MEDLINE, Ovid Emcare, Embase, ERIC, Scopus, PsycINFO, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar and grey literature sources until 31 December 2023. Search terms were developed in consultation with an academic librarian and using the population, concept and context mnemonic. The scoping review was conducted and reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews and the Joanna Briggs Institute scoping review manual.Forty‐seven papers were included from seven countries, with the majority (n = 33) being from the United States of America. Residency program details were mapped against jurisdictions and associated assessment processes, competency training areas, and focused training elements. Findings report similarities and differences of structural, competency frameworks, and locally driven context and requirements.The demand from early career pharmacists for residency programs remains high, with professional pharmacy organisations providing leadership to grow training positions. The global pharmacy development goals appear to be embedded within the residency programs, but gaps include training in non‐direct patient care competencies and research that demonstrates the outcomes from residency training. Background: Maternal health, in terms of pregnancy and childbirth, is an important aspect of women's reproductive health and remains a public health concern in underdeveloped countries of the world. Reproductive health care seeking behavior (RHSB), in both men and women in society, is influenced by a variety of social and environmental factors that needs to be summarized. Objectives: This review aims to enhance understanding and perception of services in relation to RHSBs in several domains such as antenatal care (ANC), delivery care, postnatal care (PNC), and family planning (FP) services, for married women of reproductive age in Bangladesh. Search Strategy: In major databases, for example, Medline, Ovid, PubMed, Web of Science, ProQuest and Google Scholar following keywords, timeline set as 2010 up to December 30, 2022. Selection Criteria: Articles that included discussion on married women of reproductive age, and their type of care seeking behavior for reproductive health. Data Collection and Analysis: A systematic literature search was carried out and expected outcome was health care seeking behavior in the aspects of ANC, delivery care, PNC, and FP services. A data extraction form and quality appraisal form were used for data on RHSB of married women of the reproductive age group in Bangladesh and associated factors. Main Results: A total of 245 articles were retrieved from databases; stepwise screening was done and finally 23 full‐text articles were included for analysis. Descriptive statistics were used based on the included articles for narrative synthesis. In the selected articles, 17 (73.91%) were cross‐sectional studies and more than half discussed both urban and rural women. Ante‐ and postnatal visits have proven to have positively influenced overall RHSB, as seen in Bangladesh. Grass root level workers play a major role in upgrading RHSB in women. Many factors limit rural access to mother and child health services including distance of the health facility and cost of the health service. Conclusions: In particular, education level, women's autonomy in family decision making and distance from health service can be considered as factors influencing RHSBs in Bangladesh. Exposure to mass media and TV watching are likely to positively impact RHSB patterns for women in Bangladesh. Background: Paediatric obesity is a global public health concern. While in most countries the incidence keeps rising, the need for effective and long‐term management for children and adolescents living with this chronic, relapsing disease is pressing. Health behaviour and lifestyle treatment (HBLT) is recommended as first‐line treatment. Methods: Narrative review. Results: A new generation of recently approved anti‐obesity medications (AOM) now has the potential to fill the gap between limited effects on body mass index (BMI) by HBLT alone and large effects by metabolic and bariatric surgery in adolescents with obesity aged 12 years and older. While, for semaglutide and phentermine/topiramate, effectiveness is substantial with relevant, but mostly mild to moderate adverse events, there is a gap in evidence regarding long‐term effects and safety, effects on outcomes beyond BMI reduction and data for certain groups of patients, such as children < 12 years and minority groups. When integrating AOM treatment into national healthcare systems it should be offered as part of a comprehensive patient‐centred approach. Prosody is an important indicator of reading development, but many teachers are unclear about how it can help students improve their reading fluency. Beyond demonstrating expressive or flowing reading, specific components of reading prosody can distinctly reveal how well word recognition and comprehension processes coalesce, providing teachers with useful information for their instruction. In this article, we review the research on reading prosody to clarify how differences in intonation, amplitude, and timing components distinguish struggling and strong readers. In addition, we discuss reading prosody considerations for classroom assessment and intervention by sharing insights drawn from educators trained to evaluate it systematically. We aimed to summarize the clinical characteristics of the O'Sullivan McLeod syndrome and propose the diagnostic criteria of the syndrome. We reviewed our database to identify patients with the O'Sullivan McLeod syndrome. Online databases including PubMed, EMBASE, and OVID were also searched for relevant cases. We identified a total of 24 cases, including 3 cases from our database and 21 ones from online searching. A predominance of male was observed [17 (73.9%)] with median onset age of 31 (range: 15–56) years old. The median (range) disease duration was 9 (0.5–28) years at the time of the visit. All patients showed involvement of hands and ~1/3 patients reported weakness and atrophy of right/left forearm. The upper arm was scarcely affected (8.7%). Needle electromyography suggested chronic denervation in C7‐T1 among the majority of involved cases (over 78%). Cervical magnetic resonance imaging showed longitudinal T2‐hypertenssive signals among 5/14 (35.7%) patients, which confined to the anterior horn area. No patients showed responsiveness to immunotherapy. Ten patients remained clinical stable during follow‐up, nine ones manifested chronic progressive course. The O'Sullivan and McLeod syndrome, characterized by progressive weakness and atrophy in upper limbs, might be an incurable disorder of lower motor neuron. Onset in early adulthood, the plateau period of over 12 months and years of chronic progression in clinical manifestations might be supportive indicators for the diagnosis of the syndrome. ABSTRACT Background Methods Results Conclusion This study investigates the effect of locally applied honey on pain intensity, analgesia consumption, pain relief and nighttime awakenings in children following tonsillectomy, addressing conflicting evidence and the lack of differentiation between adult and paediatric populations in previous reviews.A systematic search was conducted across multiple databases, including Cochrane Library, ClinicalTrials.gov, MEDLINE, Web of Science and Google Scholar. Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) comparing pain outcomes in children receiving honey in addition to standard treatments versus those receiving standard treatments alone were included. Pain intensity was measured with the VAS tool. Meta‐analysis was performed using STATA version 14 software. Also, risk of bias and certainty of evidence were evaluated.Out of 537 articles, seven studies (n = 710) with RCT design met the inclusion criteria. The average duration for measuring pain intensity was 7.37 days. Pooled effect size showed a statistically significant reduction in pain intensity in the honey intervention group compared to the control group (WMD: −0.90, 95% CI [−1.32, −0.48], p < 0.001, I2: 92.5%; certainty of evidence: low). Also, the results demonstrated that honey significantly decreased the average time required for pain relief and analgesic consumption in the intervention group compared to the control group. One study was deemed low risk of bias, four studies were of intermediate quality and two studies were evaluated as high.While honey shows promise in reducing post‐tonsillectomy pain, cautious use is advised due to the limited quality of evidence. ABSTRACT Introduction Methods Results Conclusion Melasma, also known as chloasma, is a common skin disorder characterized by acquired hyperpigmentation. Many patients with this condition prefer using herbal remedies instead of chemical agents. This study aims to review clinical trials conducted on the effectiveness of herbal remedies in treating melasma.In this scoping review, we searched the PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane, SID, and Magiran databases until August 2024. We designed the search strategy using MeSH database keywords “melanosis,” “herbal medicine,” “plant extracts,” “complementary therapies,” “traditional medicine,” “Persian medicine,” “clinical trials,” and their Entry Terms. We then reviewed and summarized the relevant articles.We found a total of 21 clinical trials examining the effectiveness of herbal remedies in treating melasma. The literature review revealed that licorice, rhubarb, a mixture of melon seed and chickpea, sorrel, Aloe vera leaf gel, parsley, tomato, fern, olive, pine bark, and Indian gooseberry had positive effects in treating melasma. Licorice is the most extensively studied herbal remedy for melasma treatment. Some patients who used licorice, rhubarb, and parsley experienced redness and skin allergies.Few studies have evaluated the effectiveness of herbal remedies in treating melasma. Further research, including clinical trials, systematic reviews, and meta‐analyses, is necessary to assess the efficacy of herbal remedies and natural products, as well as their potential adverse effects. Bees and pesticides is a topic which attracts a considerable amount of research and media attention. It is also an applied topic, with experimental results informing policy. Policy decisions have‐real world consequences for food production and need to be made using the best available evidence. This article aims to be an entry point for the increasing number of researchers now studying the topic, who may not have worked with pesticides beforehand. We have assumed a general knowledge of bee ecology, but no knowledge of pesticides. We build up the knowledge base throughout the article, introducing concepts one‐by‐one and building on those concepts to tackle the more complex ideas later in the article. Synthesis and applications. Our article is a starting point for those entering bee and pesticide research, and can help introduce the complex concepts and terminology of the field. We point to some further reading and resources throughout and offer some advice on best practice within the field. Molecular applications have limited use in breast cancer compared to other cancer types. In recent years, with an improving appreciation of the molecular genetics of breast cancer and innovative novel targeted and immune‐mediated therapeutics, opportunities have arisen for more biomarker analysis and molecular applications in the diagnosis and treatment of both locally advanced and metastatic breast cancers. In hormone receptor‐positive, HER2‐negative breast cancers, a growing number of revolutionized personalized therapies are in clinical use or on trials, such as CDK4/6 inhibitors and immune checkpoint inhibitors in adjuvant and neoadjuvant settings, and PIK3CA inhibitors in metastatic disease. In this review, we focus on biomarkers associated with those new therapeutic targets and molecular applications for genetic alterations associated with drug resistance or interaction from a pathology perspective for selecting and optimizing breast cancer treatment. Sodium‐ion batteries have abundant sources of raw materials, uniform geographical distribution, and low cost, and it is considered an important substitute for lithium‐ion batteries. Thereinto, solid‐state sodium‐ion batteries have the advantages of low raw material cost, high safety, and high energy density, and it has shown great potential for application in the fields of mobile power, electric vehicles, and large‐scale energy storage systems. However, the commercial development and large‐scale application of solid‐state sodium‐ion batteries urgently need to address issues such as the low room‐temperature ionic conductivity of solid electrolytes, high interfacial charge transfer impedance, and poor compatibility and contact between the solid electrolytes and the electrodes. Herein, this paper systematically discusses the basic theories of solid‐state sodium‐ion batteries, including working principles and characteristics, electrode materials and components, and solid electrolytes. Then, focusing on solid electrolytes, the key scientific challenges faced by solid‐state sodium‐ion batteries were systematically discussed, and the application of interface modification in enhancing solid‐state electrolytes was reviewed. Finally, the future industrial development of solid‐state sodium‐ion batteries was prospected. This review helps to deepen the understanding of the interface scientific issues of solid‐state sodium‐ion batteries and provides theoretical guidance for its development and application. Furthermore, this review also provides the necessary engineering theoretical guidance to accelerate the large‐scale commercial application of solid‐state sodium‐ion batteries, which has significant scientific value and profound social significance. ABSTRACT Background/Introduction Methods Results Conclusion Midwives provide skilled, primary, reproductive, and sexual health care to women, adolescent girls, and infants throughout the perinatal period, promoting health and safeguarding against obstetric emergencies and maternal and infant mortality. In many cultures, midwifery has been a predominantly female profession. However, in emerging research, the proportion of male midwives is growing to augment shortages of female midwives, prompting a need for further research that explores the contributions of male midwives in maternal and child health. The objective of this scoping review was to synthesize key findings from the literature regarding the growing, global workforce of male midwives. Specifically, we aimed to evaluate (1) the temporal nature of the publications, (2) the geographic distributions of the emerging literature, and (3) the key findings regarding male midwives' training and work experiences.We used Semantic Scholar and Google Scholar to identify relevant, peer‐reviewed articles using the keywords “gender,” “male,” “men,” “midwifery,” and “nurse midwives,” that met the inclusion criteria: (1) primary research papers, (2) published in the English language (for ease of understanding by the multinational, interdisciplinary authorship team), (3) explored male midwives' experiences during training/education and working, and (4) published between 2000 and 2023. Papers were excluded if they exclusively focused on females or nurses or other health professionals.Our initial search yielded 57 articles, with an additional nine obtained by reviewing the references. After excluding duplicates and reviewing based on inclusion criteria, 26 papers were included in the scoping review. All 26 articles were published between 2011 and 2023, with the majority (65%, n = 17) of articles focused on populations in the African region (Aims 1 and 2). Key findings (Aim 3) were as follows: 1. Training experiences of male midwives: Compared to other regions, male midwifery students in African, Middle Eastern, and Asian settings reported challenging training conditions, possibly influenced by sociocultural factors and gendered expectations of men in these settings. 2. Pregnant/birthing persons' delivery experiences and gendered preferences for their attending midwife: A significant number of birthing persons would choose female midwives over male midwives for their care, despite acknowledging similar skill sets. However, younger clients, urban residents, and non‐traditional men expressed a need for gender equity and greater acceptance of men as midwifery professionals. 3. Professional work environment: Many of the male midwives faced professional challenges, often stemming from societal and professional prejudices, leading to feelings of alienation and marginalization within the midwifery profession. Despite these challenges, they remained dedicated to the profession and felt supported by their family, friends, and coworkers.Male midwives represent a growing proportion of the global obstetric workforce and provide an important contribution to addressing maternal morbidity and mortality. Further attention to providing equitable training opportunities, navigating caregiving within settings with strong cultural and religious influences, integrating cultural, geographic, and religious diversity into the midwifery curriculum, and providing male midwives with mentorship and role model support to grow and sustain their careers are urgently needed for improving maternal and infant health outcomes. Background Objective Methods Results Conclusions Spasticity is a common feature in patients with disruptions in corticospinal pathways. However, the term is used ambiguously. Here, spasticity is defined as enhanced velocity‐dependent stretch reflexes and placed within the context of deforming spastic paresis encompassing other forms of muscle overactivity.This scoping review aims at evaluating the clinimetric quality of clinical outcome assessments (COAs) for spasticity across different pathologies and to make recommendations for their use.A literature search was conducted to identify COAs used to assess spasticity. An international expert panel evaluated the measurement properties in the included COAs. Recommendations were based on the MDS‐COA program methodology based on three criteria: if the COA was (1) applied to patients with spastic paresis, (2) used by others beyond the developers, and (3) determined to be reliable, valid, and sensitive to change in patients with spasticity.We identified 72 COAs of which 17 clinician‐reported outcomes (ClinROs) and 6 patient‐reported outcomes (PROs) were reviewed. The Tardieu Scale was the only ClinRO recommended for assessing spasticity. One ClinRO—Composite Spasticity Index—and two PROs—Spasticity 0–10 Numeric Rating Scale and 88‐Item Multiple Sclerosis Spasticity Scale—were recommended with caveats. The Ashworth‐derived COAs were excluded after evaluation due to their focus on muscle tone rather than spasticity, as defined in this review.The Tardieu Scale is recommended for assessing spasticity, and two PROs are recommended with caveats. Introduction: Facial scanning through smartphone scanning applications (SSA) is increasingly being used for medical applications as cost‐effective, chairside method. However, clinical validation is lacking. This review aims to address: (1) Which SSA could perform facial scanning? (2) Which SSA can be clinically used? (3) Which SSA have been reported and scientifically validated for medical applications? Methods: Technical search for SSA designed for face or object scanning was conducted on Google, Apple App Store, and Google Play Store from August 2022 to December 2023. Literature search was performed on PubMed, Cochrane, EMBASE, MEDLINE, Scopus, IEEE Xplore, ACM Digital Library, Clinicaltrials.gov, ICTRP (WHO) and preprints up to 2023. Eligibility criteria included English‐written scientific articles incorporating at least one SSA for clinical purposes. SSA selection and data extraction were executed by one reviewer, validated by second, with third reviewer being consulted for discordances. Results: Sixty‐three applications designed for three‐dimensional object scanning were retrieved, with 52 currently offering facial scanning capabilities. Fifty‐six scientific articles, comprising two case reports, 16 proof‐of‐concepts and 38 experimental studies were analysed. Thirteen applications (123D Catch, 3D Creator, Bellus 3D Dental Pro, Bellus 3D Face app, Bellus 3D Face Maker, Capture, Heges, Metascan, Polycam, Scandy Pro, Scaniverse, Tap tap tap and Trnio) were reported in literature for digital workflow integration, comparison or proof‐of‐concept studies. Conclusion: Fifty‐two SSA can perform facial scanning currently and can be used clinically, offering cost‐effectiveness, portability and user‐friendliness. This paper provides the first known "heatmap" representing Australian public narratives across a range of groups experiencing disadvantage developed from a comprehensive literature review of primary Australian studies between 2020 and 2021. Eleven narratives were identified across 14 population groups with the most frequent being deficit narratives, misrepresentation of the issue and 'absent' narratives (group being described not represented in the narrative). The most frequently described groups were Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people living with a disability, racial minorities and women. The heatmap resonated with three global review‐level studies and findings of supplementary qualitative interviews. Examination of relationships between the heatmap and empirical Australian disadvantage data enabled identification of missing and misleading public narratives. Attempts to disrupt such narratives can improve the understanding of disadvantage by more truthfully reflecting the lives, experiences and challenges of groups experiencing disadvantage. Background: The increasing migration of internationally educated nurses (IENs) from developing to developed countries highlights the importance of implementing integration strategies that facilitate their workplace transition, leading to improved job satisfaction and professional competence. Aim: The mixed‐methods systematic review aimed to synthesise the current literature on factors influencing job satisfaction and professional competencies among IENs throughout their transition process, including the pre‐migration, migration, and post‐migration periods. Methods: This study conducted a mixed‐methods systematic review from 2013 to 2023, using the CINAHL, Scopus, and PubMed databases and employing a Population, Interventions, Comparisons, Outcomes (PICO) framework. Quality assessment employed the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT), and data analysis followed a convergent parallel design. Data synthesis was presented narratively, and the literature review adhered to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Results: Out of 565 articles, eleven studies (eight qualitative, two quantitative, and one mixed‐method) met the inclusion criteria. Three key themes that influenced job satisfaction and professional competencies among IENs were identified: pre‐migration and pre‐deployment demands, challenges in workplace integration, and post‐migration career challenges and retention strategies. Limitations: The study primarily focused on IENs recruited from developing countries, potentially limiting the generalisability of the findings to IENs from other regions or countries. Furthermore, the inclusion of nurses from developed countries who also migrated was limited in the available studies, which further restricts the applicability of the research findings. Conclusions: It is essential to reconsider the pre‐migration language requirements and evaluate the feasibility of completing them during the integration period to enhance the job satisfaction and professional competencies of IENs. Introduction: Functional neurological disorder (FND) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are two complex neuropsychiatric conditions that have been historically classified within psychiatric domains, resulting in a lack of extensive research, insufficient clinical recognition, and persistent societal stigma. In recent years, there has been an increasing recognition among professionals and affected individuals of their possible overlap. This review explores the potential clinical and mechanistic overlap between FND and ASD, with particular attention to shared symptoms across sensory, motor, and psychiatric domains. Methods: We conducted a narrative analysis utilizing the PubMed, CINAHL, MEDLINE, and ScienceDirect databases from inception to June 2024. The search employed specific MeSH terms related to ASD and FND. Given the limited data availability, we included all relevant articles that explored the potential connections between FND and ASD, focusing on established findings and theoretical hypotheses areas. Results: Scientific evidence indicates that FND and ASD may co‐occur more frequently than previously acknowledged and with notable overlaps in their clinical presentations and pathophysiology. Theoretical models that have been applied to FND and ASD, such as the Bayesian brain theory and the tripartite model of autism, may provide valuable insights into the intersection of these conditions. Although much of the current evidence remains speculative, it underscores the need for hypothesis‐driven research to investigate these potential connections further. Conclusion: ASD and FND are heterogeneous conditions that appear to co‐occur in a subset of individuals, with overlapping symptomatology and possibly shared underlying mechanisms. This hypothesis‐generating review emphasizes the need for further research to better understand these links, ultimately aiming to improve clinical recognition and develop targeted interventions that enhance the quality of life for affected individuals. Proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) significantly impacts the prognosis of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD), one of the most critical and increasing causes of vision loss in the Western world. Despite advancements in surgical instruments and techniques, the failure rate due to PVR remains substantial, necessitating additional surgeries and often leading to unsatisfactory visual outcomes. This comprehensive review explores the role of vitreoschisis‐induced vitreous cortex remnants (VCR) as a critical, previously under‐recognised factor contributing to PVR. Vitreoschisis, a phenomenon where the inner lamellae of the posterior vitreous cortex detach while the outermost layers remain attached to the retina, creates VCR that may contain hyalocytes and serve as scaffolds for fibrocellular proliferation. These remnants are difficult to visualise without triamcinolone acetonide (TA) staining, leading to their frequent lack of recognition in clinical practice. Moreover, removing VCR can be challenging and time‐consuming, often requiring meticulous surgical techniques to avoid retinal damage and ensure complete elimination. This review consolidates insights from basic research and clinical practice, emphasising the importance of complete vitreous removal and effective VCR detection and removal to mitigate PVR risks. It highlights the histopathological and clinical evidence supporting the hypothesis that VCR, containing hyalocytes, play a pivotal role in preretinal membrane formation. The review also discusses epidemiological data, surgical management strategies and potential future directions, including improved visualisation techniques and the development of new surgical tools and methods. Background and purpose: The rapidly evolving landscape of effective treatment options in multiple sclerosis has led to a shift of treatment objectives towards a treat‐to‐target approach aiming to suppress disease activity below the level of detectability early during the disease. To enable treat‐to‐target, a thorough reappraisal of available outcome measures with respect to their ability in this regard is required. Methods: To that end, we conducted a comprehensive systematic literature review of more than 1000 studies using PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses) 2020 methodology focusing on underlying evidence as well as utility and implementability in clinical practice. Results: From there, we propose a set of measurable outcomes for everyday routine clinical practice as well as advanced/aspirational measurables requiring additional resources. We also outline remaining knowledge/technology gaps that need to be overcome to enable a treat‐to‐target approach. Despite proven efficacy, fatherhood interventions face challenges in attracting and retaining participants. This qualitative systematic review aims to inform the future design of fatherhood interventions by consolidating and synthesizing the evidence around fathers' experiences with interventions aimed at enhancing their involvement and relationships with their children. Following PRISMA guidelines, we analyzed 10 studies from a search of six electronic databases. Our analysis coalesced into three pivotal themes: (a) creating a sense of belonging: facilitating participation; (b) transformative takeaways; and (c) challenges of negotiating expectations of masculinity. Our findings indicate that group‐based, culturally sensitive programs are advantageous but also reveal that fathers grapple with reconciling evolving fatherhood roles with societally entrenched expectations of masculinity. This review offers actionable insights for the future development, evaluation, and implementation of fatherhood interventions, particularly those utilizing qualitative research methodologies. Although caregivers of children with cancer play an instrumental role in managing their child's symptoms, the impact of their own experiences or perspectives is under‐explored. Understanding these factors is essential as they influence caregiving behaviors and overall well‐being. This qualitative systematic review addresses this knowledge gap by synthesizing existing research on caregiver's experiences. The review is reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses guidelines. Two reviewers utilized Rayyan to screen titles and abstracts retrieved from comprehensive keyword searches of five databases including CINAHL, APA PsycINFO, Embase, and MEDLINE. Databases and bibliographies were hand‐searched for additional articles. One reviewer completed full text assessment and data were extracted into an Excel spreadsheet. The Quality Assessment with Diverse Studies tool was used to appraise included studies. Thematic content analysis was used to synthesize findings, which are presented narratively. Twelve articles are included, representing the experiences of 597 caregivers, most of which (83%) were undertaken in high‐income nations. Quality appraisal scores indicated all studies were of moderate to robust quality. Three main themes were identified including: (1) caregivers as protectors in their role, (2) normalization of symptoms yet they remain disrupting, and (3) communication between the caregiver and child. Findings emphasize the importance of formalized information provision and education to better support caregivers in managing their child's cancer‐related symptoms. Eating disorder treatment should be underpinned by a recovery‐oriented approach, be therapeutic, personalised and trauma informed. Within such models of care, social support is an important factor to explore in terms of its influence in supporting hope for recovery, reducing stigma, and mitigating life stressors. Limited research has been conducted to understand the types of social support that are available to young people formally diagnosed with an eating disorder, their feasibility and acceptability and the positive outcomes. This integrative review sought to explore the positive outcomes of social support or social support programs for young people with eating disorders. An integrative review was conducted based on a search of five electronic databases from inception to 31 March 2023. Methodological quality was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Tools and findings have been narratively synthesised and presented in accordance with the review's aims and questions. Seven studies (total 429 individuals, range 3–160) published between 2001 and 2023 were included in the final synthesis. Overall social support interventions showed promising preliminary evidence as a feasible and acceptable adjunct to treatment for young people with an eating disorder motivated to change, with some clinical improvements in psychopathology. Social support augmented existing relationships, providing a human element of open dialogue, friendship and a sense of hope for recovery. Despite the small number and heterogeneity of the studies, this review has highlighted some promising preliminary benefits. Future treatment for eating disorders should embrace adjunct modalities that enhance psychosocial recovery for young people with eating disorders. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: To describe the use of composite endpoints (CEs) in cardiovascular outcome trials (CVOTs) of type 2 diabetes and to evaluate the significance of the individual outcomes included within these CEs from the perspectives of both patients and clinicians. Secondary objectives were to estimate the gradient of treatment effects and events across outcomes. Materials and Methods: Eligible studies were randomized controlled trials assessing CV outcomes for patients with diabetes from 2008 and onwards. Trials were identified by searching the reports from the CVOT Summit of the Diabetes & CV Disease EASD (European Association for the Study of Diabetes) Study Group. The individual outcomes comprising the CE were compared for differences in importance for patients and clinicians, proportion of events, and effect size. Results: We included 22 trials randomizing a mean of 8098 patients to an active intervention or a comparator group for an average of 33 months (standard deviation 16). All primary outcomes were CEs, and from a patient perspective there was no gradient of importance across outcomes in 22 of 22 (100%) CEs, while the gradient was small in 22 of 22 (100%) from a clinician perspective. The gradient of effect was moderate to large in 9 of 18 (50%) reporting studies, while assessment of events was available in 15 of 22 studies (68%), finding that three of 15 (20%) had a gradient of effect of more than 5% points between included outcomes. In 10 of 22 (45%) trial reports, the results were not clearly presented as based on a CE. Conclusions: To avoid misinterpretation, clinicians and regulatory authorities should be careful when interpreting the results of trials, of which the main outcomes are CEs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Our study analysed 46 articles on computer‐aided translation (CAT) and its educational uses. We explored two main areas: CAT technologies in learning and teaching, and the research methodologies of these studies. Objectives: Our review covered the types of CAT technologies used, their applications in different learning settings, theoretical backgrounds and their pros and cons. We also looked at the research designs, participant demographics and data collection methods used in these studies. Methods: We conducted an extensive search across academic databases using relevant keywords and employed open coding to analyse and categorize the content of identified articles, focusing on aspects related to CAT technologies in educational contexts. Results and Conclusions: Our findings showed the use of 22 distinct CAT technologies, with Google Translate being the most common. The studies mostly used empirical research methods and questionnaires. University students were the primary participants. CAT technologies were applied in various contexts, including language learning, translation teaching, cross‐cultural learning and foreign language lectures. We identified five key theoretical foundations for CAT use. Benefits included bridging language barriers, vocabulary enhancement, and grammar improvement as well as providing reference and feedback for writing and translation. Challenges included inaccuracies and inappropriate translations. However, most studies showed a positive impact of CAT on learning outcomes. Based on our analysis, we offer recommendations for educators and researchers in the field. This review provides a thorough understanding of CAT's applications and effects in education, guiding future advancements in this area. Background: During the past decade, the increasingly heterogeneous field of learning analytics has been critiqued for an over‐emphasis on data‐driven approaches at the expense of paying attention to learning designs. Method and objective: In response to this critique, we investigated the role of learning design in learning analytics through a systematic literature review. 161 learning analytics (LA) articles were examined to identify indicators that were based on learning design events and their associated metrics. Through this research, we address two objectives. First, to achieve a better alignment between learning design and learning analytics by proposing a reference framework, where we present possible connections between learning analytics and learning design. Second, to present how LA indicators and metrics have been researched and applied in the past. Results and conclusion: In our review, we found that a number of learning analytics papers did indeed consider learning design activities for harvesting user data. We also found a consistent increase in the number and quality of indicators and their evolution over the years. Integrity is an ongoing concern in the public sector. Contemporary examples include fraud incidents, ethical violations, theft, and a disregard of legal advice resulting in significant harms to the public. Public service integrity management systems are interconnected frameworks of legislation and institutions intended to reduce such incidents, including Codes of Conduct (CoCs). A CoC is typically defined as a written set of norms that outline virtuous or desired behaviours, often creating or linking to sanctions for violations. Despite matters of integrity and corruption being a high concern for citizens, no method exists to compare monitoring, reporting, and review of CoCs across jurisdictions. We developed and applied a method to assess CoC implementation using specific assessment criteria developed by reviewing available content across jurisdictions and the current literature on CoCs and integrity management. Our results reveal substantial inconsistency between jurisdictions and a lack of available or accessible data for many CoC elements. Our method serves both as a tool for analysis of the effectiveness of CoCs over time and as an assessment of how jurisdictions are currently reporting on their compliance with their own CoCs. Points for practitioners: A lack of evidence exists in terms of how CoCs are monitored, reported on, and reviewed.As a first stage of a research program, we develop and apply a method to all Australian states, territories, and the Australian Public Service to compare the monitoring, reporting, and review activities undertaken by these jurisdictions.Application of the method reveals opportunities for jurisdictions to improve the availability and accessibility of CoC data collection, reporting, and review.Auditors General and Public Accounts Committees should consider this method as part of their works programs and potentially use it to inform their scrutiny programs and requirements for performance and annual reporting.Public Service Commissions could find the data useful in adapting and improving their CoC monitoring, reporting, and review systems. In this study, we assessed the accomplishments and shortcomings of an exhaustive collection of energy policies of Nepal over four decades, using a five‐dimensional energy security framework (availability, affordability, technology, sustainability and governance) for sustainable development. We adopted a mixed‐method approach involving thorough review of 70 policy documents (1984–2022), systematic review of 86 peer‐reviewed journal articles on Nepal's energy policy, and consultations with 11 experts. Our evaluation shows that while there is a progressive trend, Nepal's energy policies face challenges of political instability, governance issues, siloed development practices, lagging research and development, inefficient energy demand management, and heavy reliance on international support. Additionally, we offer four tailored recommendations for the related stakeholders: supply‐side management, demand‐side management, multi‐sector collaboration, and political stability and good governance. The insights and recommendations we provide have significant regional implications, particularly in the context of potential cross‐border clean electricity sharing in South Asia. Background and purpose Methods Results Conclusions Health disparities and inequities are an important and too long overlooked public health concern worldwide. These differences in health and health care can affect people with any disease, including neurological disorders. The aim of this systematic review is to provide an updated overview of the main health inequities faced by neurological patients worldwide, to plan valuable interventions.Main databases were searched systematically. Quality was assessed with the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. This review followed the standard guidelines of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses.A total of 1797 studies were obtained, of which 49 studies were included in the final round and subjected to quality appraisal. Quality assessment yielded scores ranging from 20% to 100%. The results were divided based on the nature of inequities: (i) socioeconomic disadvantage (n = 25); and (ii) access to care, treatment, and services inequities (n = 24). Most studies were conducted in high income counties (n = 46, 93.8%) and reported health inequities in persons with cerebrovascular diseases, especially stroke (n = 20, 40.8%), followed by multiple sclerosis (n = 8, 16.3%) and neurodegenerative disorders (n = 6, 12.2%).Racial and ethnic discrimination, economic issues, differences in disease management, educational level, and place of residence are the main inequities reported by neurological patients. The USA dominates the research panorama (n = 36, 73.4%), highlighting the need for more studies that cover other geopolitical contexts. Improving population health means improving health for everyone; however, historically disadvantaged groups continue to trail dramatically behind, and actions are needed to reduce the inequities. ABSTRACT This qualitative evidence synthesis aims to show how the agency and voices of minor children of parents with a mental illness (COPMI) or with an addiction (COPA) are represented in existing qualitative research. A thematic analysis was conducted to analyse the parts of the articles reporting on the voices of COPMI/COPA themselves (e.g., through interviews with them). Special attention was given to how the authors of the different articles represented children's agency and amplified their voices. The four themes found were secrecy and privacy, lack of information, fear and worry and informal care. Thus, these are the topics most commonly discussed by COPMI and COPA themselves. They both spoke of themselves as victims and as agents, and these two were strongly intertwined in their descriptions of their experiences and situations. The most important recommendation for policy, practice and research based on these results is that it is important to listen to what minor COPMI/COPA have to say about their own situation and see them not only as a victim of this situation but also as an agent. ABSTRACT Objective Overview Conclusion Clinical Significance This review aims to evaluate the current understanding and clinical applications of machinable ceramic‐reinforced composites (CRCs) and the emerging first generation of 3D‐printed CRCs in dental restorations.Machinable CRCs, introduced over a decade ago, have shown moderate success in short‐ to medium‐term clinical applications, particularly in low‐stress areas. However, their long‐term durability limitations, such as increased wear and marginal deterioration, restrict their use in high‐stress situations and full crowns. The first generation of 3D‐printed CRCs offers customization advantages but is still in early development and exhibits lower mechanical strength and higher wear rates than CAD‐CAM CRCs and traditional ceramics. Additionally, the classification and definitions surrounding CRCs remain ambiguous, as ADA categorizations do not clearly differentiate CRCs from ceramics, complicating clinical indication, usage, and billing practices.Machinable CAD‐CAM CRCs are moderately successful in low‐stress applications, while 3D‐printed CRCs show limitations in wear resistance and durability, raising concerns for their use in definitive restorations. Both require further research and clinical validation.Machinable CAD‐CAM CRCs are best suited for low‐stress applications, while 3D‐printed CRCs may be more appropriate for provisional use. Until long‐term clinical data are available, ceramics should be preferred for high‐stress or full‐coverage restorations. Objective: Insomnia is common in patients with cancer. It has a multifactorial etiology that may include the disease process, adverse effects of anticancer therapies, and/or an association with other comorbidities. The purpose of this review was to identify risk factors for insomnia and suggest optimal management strategies. Methods: We conducted a systematic literature review to elucidate the risk factors for insomnia and sleep disturbances in patients with solid tumors. The effects of sleep medications in this population were also described. Results: A total of 75 publications were evaluated, including those on breast, lung, gynecologic, brain, head and neck, gastrointestinal, prostate, thyroid, and mixed cancers. We classified the factors related to insomnia or sleep disturbance in cancer into four categories: (1) patient demographic characteristics (e.g., age, marital or socioeconomic status); (2) mental state (e.g., depression or anxiety); (3) physical state (e.g., fatigue, pain, or restless legs syndrome); and (4) anticancer treatment‐related (e.g., use of chemotherapy, opioids, or hormone therapy). Overall, literature on the pharmacologic treatment of insomnia is extremely limited, although some efficacy data for zolpidem and melatonin have been reported. Conclusions: Demographic characteristics, physical and mental distress, and anticancer treatments are all risks for insomnia in patients with cancer. The limited evidence base for pharmacologic therapy in this patient population means that healthcare professionals need to implement a comprehensive and multidisciplinary pathway from screening to management. Insect production for food and feed presents a promising supplement to ensure food safety and address the adverse impacts of agriculture on climate and environment in the future. However, optimisation is required for insect production to realise its full potential. This can be by targeted improvement of traits of interest through selective breeding, an approach which has so far been underexplored and underutilised in insect farming. Here, we present a comprehensive review of the selective breeding framework in the context of insect production. We systematically evaluate adjustments of selective breeding techniques to the realm of insects and highlight the essential components integral to the breeding process. The discussion covers every step of a conventional breeding scheme, such as formulation of breeding objectives, phenotyping, estimation of genetic parameters and breeding values, selection of appropriate breeding strategies, and mitigation of issues associated with genetic diversity depletion and inbreeding. This review combines knowledge from diverse disciplines, bridging the gap between animal breeding, quantitative genetics, evolutionary biology and entomology, offering an integrated view of the insect breeding research area and uniting knowledge which has previously remained scattered across diverse fields of expertise. In Africa, livestock production plays a crucial role for sustainable food security and economic growth. However, the development of this sector has been delayed by livestock diseases, one of the main constraints, which can cause important production and economic losses. To overcome these constraints, farmers extensively use antimicrobials, which in turn can lead to antimicrobial resistance (AMR), one of the main threats to global health and food security. Biosecurity has been identified as a key strategy to reduce livestock diseases. Therefore, the current systematic review and meta‐analysis, conducted according to the Cochrane guideline, aimed at determining the efficacy of biosecurity in preventing and controlling infectious diseases in livestock farms in Africa. Of the 1408 records retrieved from five different databases, only 16 met the inclusion criteria. These studies were conducted in Egypt (31.2%), Nigeria (31.2%), Uganda (18.8%), Ethiopia (12.5%) and Tunisia (6.3%) and concerned poultry (62.4%), pigs (18.8%) and cattle (18.8%). Investigations focused mainly on avian influenza (AI) (15.0%) and coccidiosis (10.0%) in poultry and African swine fever (ASF) (10.0%) in pigs. In poultry farms, the results of the pairwise meta‐analysis showed that biosecurity measures related to visitors and farmworkers could be effective at reducing the risk of introduction and spread of AI viruses (odds ratio [OR] = 0.48; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.28–0.82). Moreover, inadequate biosecurity seemed to be a factor promoting coccidiosis (OR = 4.20; 95% CI 2.4–7.4) and AI (OR = 1.74; 95% CI 1.23–2.48). Prevention of ASF was significantly associated with the application of biosecurity measures related to animals' transport, removal of carcasses and manure (OR = 0.33; 95% CI 0.12–0.88). Despite their importance, these findings cannot be translated to the entire African continent, since no studies were available for more than 90% of its countries. A systematic search was conducted in CINAHL, Embase, PubMed and PsychINFO, including all types of peer‐reviewed research syntheses published between 2008 and 2023. Eligible studies had to describe interventions capable of improving adult patients' cognitive functioning or supporting their cognitive rehabilitation process throughout the intensive care unit trajectory. All eligible research syntheses were screened systematically; those included were critically appraised.Based on 13 research syntheses, this review summarizes rehabilitative interventions that may be delivered during different phases of critical illness and recovery, in relation to content, delivery and timing. Interventions were: (1) cognitive activities and training, (2) mobilization and physical exercises, (3) emotional, psychological and social support and (4) information.Due to limited evidence, no definitive conclusion can be drawn about which type of intervention is most supportive or effective. Additionally, no recommendations can be made about the optimal timing for intervention delivery.Clinicians involved in developing and implementing cognitive rehabilitation measures should consider designing individualized, multicomponent interventions with a focus on content, delivery and timing. Background Methods Results Conclusion Left ventricular (LV) unloading is a crucial intervention to decrease the harmful consequences of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) on hemodynamic status in cardiogenic shock (CS) patients. However, a lingering question preoccupies experts: Should we intervene early or wait until clinical deterioration caused by increasing afterload is detected?A systematic review and meta‐analysis synthesizing studies, which were retrieved by systematically searching PubMed, Web of Science, SCOPUS, and Cochrane through December 2023. We used R V. 4.3 to pool dichotomous data using risk ratio (RR) and continuous data using mean difference (MD) with a 95% confidence interval (CI). PROSPERO ID: CRD42024501643.Eight studies with 2.117 patients were included. Early/prophylactic LV unloading was associated with a lower incidence of all‐cause mortality [RR: 0.87 with 95% CI (0.79, 0.95), p < 0.01]. However, there was no significant difference between the two groups regarding cardiac mortality [RR: 1.01 with 95% CI (0.68, 1.48), p = 0.98], non‐cardiac mortality [RR: 0.86 with 95% CI (0.46, 1.62), p = 0.64], and in‐hospital mortality [RR: 0.95 with 95% CI (0.86, 1.05), p = 0.30]. There was no significant difference between the two groups regarding ECMO weaning, myocardial recovery, ECMO duration, and length of hospitalization.Early/prophylactic LV unloading during ECMO for CS patients was associated with a decreased incidence of all‐cause mortality and sepsis or infection, with no effect on ECMO weaning, myocardial recovery, ECMO duration, and hospital length of stay. Objective: Given that eating disorders (EDs) are considered one of the deadliest mental illnesses, the development of appropriate assessment instruments is a necessity. Despite the extensive literature on assessing EDs, there has been a lack of focus on semi‐structured interviews. The purpose of this article is to provide a comprehensive review of psychometrically validated semi‐structured interviews for EDs. Methods: Included studies (N = 24) were required to present a semi‐structured interview for EDs that has been validated through a psychometric process. The APA PsycNet, MEDLINE, APA Psycinfo, Pubmed, and Health & Psychosocial Instruments databases were searched. The literature search included publications through May 2024, with no earliest year restriction. Results: A total of six instruments were identified and reviewed in terms of conceptual design, purpose and content, psychometric characteristics, and strengths and limitations. Three main findings were highlighted: (a) only half of the instruments are up to date; (b) the instruments are based on either a categorical or a mixed categorical‐dimensional approach; and (c) the predominance of the categorical approach. Conclusions: The results are discussed regarding the conceptual approaches of the instrument to provide clinical and research implications. Despite the many strengths of the instrument, additional psychometric research is needed. Highlight: The complexity of eating disorders (EDs) challenges traditional DSM‐5 categorisation. With more than 50% of individuals diagnosed in a residual category with limited treatment research, there is a critical need for accurate diagnosis through validated assessment tools based on alternative approaches.Of the six existing semi‐structured assessments of EDs, only three are up to date and can be used for both clinical and research applications.The electronic format and dual scoring (categorical and dimensional) of the instrument are promising features for providing a comprehensive and personalised assessment of EDs. The need to involve children and families in Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews (CSPRs) is set out within the current statutory guidance. However, there remains limited guidance that sets out how this should be done and the available research indicates that children and families are often excluded or choose not to be involved. The aim of this study was to explore how children and families are currently being involved in CSPRs in order to support the development of best practice approaches. The study was conducted by undertaking a thematic analysis of the involvement of children and families in the CSPRs published on the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) repository since the implementation of the guidance in 2018. The analyses identified four themes: 'reports do not mention family involvement', 'children and families were excluded', 'children and families were invited but were not involved' and 'children and families were invited and at least one member was involved'. The study concludes that there is a necessity for clearer guidance regarding how, when and who will engage with the children and families, taking an individualised approach that offers flexibility, provides support and addresses trauma. Key Practitioner Messages: Guidance should set out how, when and who will involve children and families to ensure that a considered and flexible approach is taken to support meaningful involvement.Children and families should be provided with access to appropriate support to encourage involvement and reduce the risk of re‐traumatisation.Reviews should consider a trauma‐informed approach based on the principles of safety, trustworthiness, collaboration, support and empowerment and showing consideration to historical, cultural and gender issues. The well‐being, particularly academic performance, of left‐behind children (LBC) by their migrant parents has been studied. Although extensive literature pronounces the adverse impact of parental migration on LBC's academic outcomes, a growing body of evidence has found that these children might perform equally or even better academically than non‐left‐behind children (NLBC), which inspires the present review. This innovative study has systematically reviewed previous studies to provide evidence of a silver lining for parental migration and its implications. We searched for relevant studies from reliable sources and screened them between January and April 2023, following the PRISMA guidelines. After two authors independently screened the title, abstract and full text, 11 potential studies that met the inclusion/exclusion criteria were reviewed. The results indicate that eight eligible studies found no significant difference in academic performance between LBC and NLBC, while the remaining studies showed that LBC outperformed NLBC. Additionally, the age of left‐behind children, the duration and reasons for parental migration and household remittance practices were key factors in determining the resilience of LBCs towards academic engagement and performance. The present review findings suggest that future studies need to examine the positive consequence of parental migration on LBCs' academic and nonacademic outcomes by performing rigorous and robust methodology that unfolds and provides casual relationships, which insist on feasible practical and policy effective implications. HDR syndrome is a rare disease characterized by hypoparathyroidism, deafness, and renal dysplasia. An autosomal dominant disease caused by heterozygous pathogenic GATA3 variants, the penetrance of each associated condition is variable. Literature reviews have provided some answers, but many questions remain, in particular what the relationship is between genotype and phenotype. The current study examines 28 patients with HDR syndrome combined with an exhaustive review of the literature. Some conditions such as hearing loss are almost always present, while others described as rare initially, do not seem to be so rare after all (genital malformations and basal ganglia calcifications). By modeling pathogenic GATA3 variants found in HDR syndrome, we found that missense variations appear to always be located in the same area (close to the two Zinc Finger domain). We describe new pathogenic GATA3 variants, of which some seem to always be associated with certain conditions. Many audiograms were studied to establish a typical audiometric profile associated with a phenotype in HDR. As mentioned in the literature, hearing function should always be assessed as early as possible and follow up of patients with HDR syndrome should include monitoring of parathyroid function and vesicoureteral reflux in order to prevent complications. Ginsenosides are the primary component discernible from ginseng, including Rb1, Rb2, Rd, Rg1, Rg2, and compound K, and so forth. They have been shown to have multiple pharmacological activities. In recent years, more and more studies have been devoted to the neuroprotection of various ginsenosides against neurological diseases and their potential mechanisms. This paper comprehensively summarizes and reviews the neuroprotective effects of various ginsenosides on neurological diseases, especially acute and chronic neurodegenerative diseases, and their mechanisms, as well as their potential therapeutic applications to promote neuroprotection in disease prevention, treatment, and prognosis. Briefly, ginsenosides exert effective neuroprotective effects on neurological conditions, including stroke, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and brain/spinal cord injuries through a variety of molecular mechanisms, including anti‐inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti‐apoptotic. Among them, some signaling pathways play important roles in related processes, such as PI3K/Akt, TLR4/NF‐κB, ROS/TXNIP/NLRP3, HO‐1/Nrf2, Wnt/β‐catenin, and Ca2+ pathway. In conclusion, the present study reviews the research progress on the neuroprotective effects of ginsenosides in the last decade, with the aim of furnishing essential theoretical underpinning and effective references for further research and exploration of the multiple medicinal values of Chinese herbal medicines and their small molecule compounds, including ginseng and panax ginseng. Because there is less evidence in the existing clinical studies, future research should be focused on clinical trials in order to truly reflect the clinical value of various ginsenosides for the benefit of patients. Background: Treatment with opioids is a mainstay in perioperative pain management. While the leading treatment paradigm has been procedure‐specific pain management, efforts regarding personalized pain treatment are increasing. The OPI•AID project aims to develop personalized algorithms for perioperative pain management, taking demographic, surgical, and anaesthesiologic factors into account. We will undertake five parallel reviews to illuminate current evidence on different aspects of individual responses to perioperative opioid treatment. Methods: Inclusion of adult populations in English‐written studies. Review‐specific searches are developed for the following databases: CENTRAL, MEDLINE, Embase, clinicaltrials.gov, and clinicaltrial.eu. Two authors will independently screen citations, extract data, and assess the risks of bias in each review (QUIPS, PROBAST and RoB2, as relevant). Conclusion: These reviews will evaluate various aspects of perioperative opioid treatment, including individualized treatment strategies, selection of specific opioids, and individual patient responses. Background: Mechanical ventilation is a core intervention in critical care, but may also lead to negative consequences. Therefore, ventilator weaning is crucial for patient recovery. Numerous weaning interventions have been investigated, but an overview of interventions to evaluate different foci on weaning research is still missing. Aim: To provide an overview of interventions associated with ventilator weaning. Study Design: We conducted a scoping review. A systematic search of the Medline, CINAHL and Cochrane Library databases was carried out in May 2023. Interventions from studies or reviews that aimed to extubate or decannulate mechanically ventilated patients in intensive care units were included. Studies concerning children, outpatients or non‐invasive ventilation were excluded. Screening and data extraction were conducted independently by three reviewers. Identified interventions were thematically analysed and clustered. Results: Of the 7175 records identified, 193 studies were included. A total of six clusters were formed: entitled enteral nutrition (three studies), tracheostomy (17 studies), physical treatment (13 studies), ventilation modes and settings (47 studies), intervention bundles (42 studies), and pharmacological interventions including analgesic agents (8 studies), sedative agents (53 studies) and other agents (15 studies). Conclusions: Ventilator weaning is widely researched with a special focus on ventilation modes and pharmacological agents. Some aspects remain poorly researched or unaddressed (e.g. nutrition, delirium treatment, sleep promotion). Relevance to Clinical Practice: This review compiles studies on ventilator weaning interventions in thematic clusters, highlighting the need for multidisciplinary care and consideration of various interventions. Automatic emotion recognition is a burgeoning field of research and has its roots in psychology and cognitive science. This article comprehensively reviews multimodal emotion recognition, covering various aspects such as emotion theories, discrete and dimensional models, emotional response systems, datasets, and current trends. This article reviewed 179 multimodal emotion recognition literature papers from 2017 to 2023 to reflect on the current trends in multimodal affective computing. This article covers various modalities used in emotion recognition based on the emotional response system under four categories: subjective experience comprising text and self‐report; peripheral physiology comprising electrodermal, cardiovascular, facial muscle, and respiration activity; central physiology comprising EEG, neuroimaging, and EOG; behavior comprising facial, vocal, whole‐body behavior, and observer ratings. This review summarizes the measures and behavior of each modality under various emotional states. This article provides an extensive list of multimodal datasets and their unique characteristics. The recent advances in multimodal emotion recognition are grouped based on the research focus areas such as emotion elicitation strategy, data collection and handling, the impact of culture and modality on multimodal emotion recognition systems, feature extraction, feature selection, alignment of signals across the modalities, and fusion strategies. The recent multimodal fusion strategies are detailed in this article, as extracting shared representations of different modalities, removing redundant features from different modalities, and learning critical features from each modality are crucial for multimodal emotion recognition. This article summarizes the strengths and weaknesses of multimodal emotion recognition based on the review outcome, along with challenges and future work in multimodal emotion recognition. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death globally. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) methods—in particular, deep learning (DL)—has been on the rise lately for the analysis of different CVD‐related topics. The use of fundus images and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in the diagnosis of retinal diseases has also been extensively studied. To better understand heart function and anticipate changes based on microvascular characteristics and function, researchers are currently exploring the integration of AI with noninvasive retinal scanning. There is great potential to reduce the number of cardiovascular events and the financial strain on healthcare systems by utilizing AI‐assisted early detection and prediction of cardiovascular diseases on a large scale. A comprehensive search was conducted across various databases, including PubMed, Medline, Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Sciences, IEEE Xplore, and ACM Digital Library, using specific keywords related to cardiovascular diseases and AI. The study included 87 English‐language publications selected for relevance, and additional references were considered. This article provides an overview of the recent developments and difficulties in using AI and retinal imaging to diagnose cardiovascular diseases. It provides insights for further exploration in this field. Researchers are trying to develop precise disease prognosis patterns in response to the aging population and the growing global burden of CVD.
