The following is a description of an interactive exercise for teaching the general components of commercial real estate leases to an introductory Legal and Ethical Environment of Business Law undergraduate class. While many students have experience with a residential lease, the use of a commercial lease for this assignment is more appropriate in a business law class as the commercial lease relates specifically to business, is often more complex than a residential lease, and offers fruitful avenues of exploration for management considerations.
