Background: No reports have compared the clinical therapeutic efficacy of fluconazole and itraconazole in canine Malassezia dermatitis. Objectives: The study aimed to compare the clinical therapeutic efficacy of fluconazole and itraconazole and to evaluate the adverse effects of fluconazole in canine Malassezia dermatitis. Animals: Sixty‐one client‐owned dogs with Malassezia dermatitis. Materials and Methods: The enrolled animals were randomly divided into groups receiving 5 mg/kg fluconazole (5FZ), 10 mg/kg fluconazole (10FZ) or 5 mg/kg itraconazole (5IZ). The drugs were orally administered once daily for 28 days. Cytological examination, clinical index score (CIS), pruritus Visual Analog Scale (PVAS) evaluation and blood analysis (for 5FZ only) were performed on Day (D)0, D14 and D28. Results: On D14, significant reductions in mean yeast count (MYC), CIS and PVAS were observed in the 5FZ (n = 20, p < 0.01), 10FZ (n = 17, p < 0.01) and 5IZ (n = 16, p < 0.05) groups. In all three groups, a significant reduction (p < 0.001) in MYC, CIS and PVAS expression was observed on D28. There was no significant difference in the percentage reduction of MYC, CIS and PVAS among the groups. Moreover, there was a significant difference (p < 0.05) in each group between D14 and D28, except for the percentage reduction in MYC in the 10FZ and 5IZ groups. No adverse effects of fluconazole were observed in the 5FZ or 10FZ groups. In the present study, we report for the first‐time three‐color white‐light emission with high brightness from white‐emitting PeQD organic light‐emitting diodes (WPeQD‐OLEDs) fabricated using a PeQD material and organic emitters. A WPeQD‐OLED bilayer was prepared by depositing a blue‐emitting organic layer on top of a CsPb(Br/I)3 QD layer mixed with N9,N10‐Bis(4‐(tert‐butyl) phenyl)‐N9,N10‐Di‐o‐Tolylanthracene‐9,10‐Diamine (p‐Tb‐o‐Me‐TAD), which were spin‐coated as red and green emitters, respectively. In the WPeQD‐OLED device, charge carriers were distributed by an 9‐(naphthalen‐1‐yl)‐10‐(naphthalen‐2‐yl)anthracene (α,β‐ADN) blue‐emitting host material with a deep highest occupied molecular orbital level. The electroluminescence (EL) spectra of the WPeQD‐OLEDs showed EL maximum peaks at 460, 527, and 640 nm; the CIE color coordinates of the emitted light were (0.33, 0.40). The EL results confirmed that the maximum luminance was 49,000 cd m ‐2 and the maximum luminance efficiency and power efficiency were 4.48 cd A‐1 and 2.16 lm W ‐1. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An 8‐year‐old Miniature Poodle presented with chronic sneezing and unilateral epistaxis. A left‐sided intranasal mass was identified on computed tomography. 18F‐fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) was performed to evaluate the metabolic activity of the mass. The intranasal mass showed mildly increased 18F‐FDG uptake. The maximal and mean standardized uptake values (SUVs) of the mass were 3.4 and 2.6, respectively. The maximal SUV of the mass/mean SUV of the normal liver was 2.5. The 7‐cm soft, pink mass was easily removed through rhinoscopy, with subsequent dramatic improvement in clinical signs. Histopathological and immunohistochemical analyses determined that the mass was an intermediate‐grade malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumour (PNST). Using the pyrimidine moiety with electron‐accepting capability and the thiazolopyridine moiety, commonly used as a moiety with an electron‐withdrawing group in organic semiconductors, for the first time 2‐(3‐(4,6‐di(phenanthren‐9‐yl)pyrimidin‐2‐yl)phenyl)thiazolo[5,4‐b]pyridine (DPPTP) is designed and synthesized to enhance electron transport capabilities compared to the conventional electron‐transporting layer, tris(8‐hydroxyquinoline)aluminum (Alq3). The photoluminescence maxima in solution and film states are observed at 391 and 410 nm, respectively. Although the photoluminescence quantum yield is relatively low at 2% in the solution state, it increases to 28% in the film state. The measured electron mobility values from the fabricated device range from 1.46 × 10−5 to 2.0 × 10−5 cm2 V−1 s−1, ≈5.7 times faster than the electron mobility of Alq3. In a fluorescent blue device utilizing the newly synthesized DPPTP as the electron‐transporting layer, the current efficiency is 4.36 cd A−1, and the external quantum efficiency is 3.76%, representing a 1.3‐fold improvement in efficiency compared to Alq3 devices. Herein, the design and synthesis of novel yellow quinophthalone derivatives, 4,5,6,7‐tetrachloro‐2‐(6‐chloro‐2‐(3‐hydroxy‐1‐oxo‐1H‐cyclopenta[b]naphthalen‐2‐yl)quinolin‐4‐yl)isoindoline‐1,3‐dione (pC‐QP) and 4,5,6,7‐tetrachloro‐2‐(7‐chloro‐2‐(3‐hydroxy‐1‐oxo‐1H‐cyclopenta[b]naphthalen‐2‐yl)quinolin‐4‐yl)isoindoline‐1,3‐dione (mC‐QP), are used for use as yellow colorants in image sensors. The synthesized compounds are designed to modulate the optical properties based on the substituted positions of the chloride group within the quinophthalone structure. The solubility of pC‐QP and mC‐QP in propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate solvent is found to be 0.08 and 0.15 wt%, respectively. The molar extinction coefficient values of pC‐QP and mC‐QP in solution are determined to be 3.14 × 104 and 3.62 × 105 L mol−1 cm−1, respectively. The transmittance of mC‐QP meets commercial requirements, exhibiting less than 0.3% between 412 and 475 nm and over 91% above 530 nm. Both pC‐QP and mC‐QP demonstrate high thermal stability with decomposition temperatures of 464 and 393 °C, respectively. As a result, mC‐QP emerges as an excellent candidate material for use as a yellow colorant in image sensors due to its outstanding properties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
