Abstract

The article focuses on the study which aims to examine the impact of climate variability on valley Alpine glaciers and to analyze the glacier snout fluctuation data in Piedmont and Val d' Aosta in Italy. Researchers focused their study on a large number of temperature and precipitation time series that covered 70 years in the 20th century. They have found out that strong oscillations on shorter time scales and showed their correlation with fluctuations in winter precipitation rates and average summer temperatures.
