Abstract

The article presents a case study of a 63-year-old woman who was admitted with cough and fever, and has been hospitalised because of worsening dyspnoea. Physical examination revealed wheezes and bilateral crackles at chest auscultation, heart rate of 100 beats per minute (bpm) and fever. Histological sections of the lungs at autopsy revealed extensive areas of pneumonia having multiple foci of abscess formation.
