Summary: The non‐orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is highly capable of serving multiple users at similar times and frequencies. The power allocation (PA) is widely considered as a main factor in NOMA for efficient communication. Here, the application of multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) is added to NOMA to fulfill demands of enriched spectral efficiencies and extra user data. In this research, the Ladybug Beetle Honey Badger Optimization (LBHBO) is proposed for efficient PA in MIMO‐NOMA. Initially, the received signals from the user are modulated for amplitude and frequency. Then, user grouping is conducted by fuzzy local information c‐means (FLICM) clustering followed by using PA done by proposed LBHBO. This power is then moved to the transmitter and then to the channel estimation process. Moreover, cyclic prefix (CP) removal is carried out that tends to discrete Fourier transform (DFT). Finally, quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) demodulation is performed for reallocated output. Furthermore, LBHBO is formed by combining Ladybug Beetle Optimization (LBO) and Honey Badger Algorithm (HBA). Summary: In the context of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) assisted millimeter wave communications within the Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) system, Channel Estimation (CE) poses a significant challenge due to signal sparsity and blockages between transmitters and receivers. Consequently, communication faces difficulties without a direct line‐of‐sight path, leading to increased pilot overhead. To address these obstacles, this research introduces a channel estimation approach for RIS‐aided millimeter wave communication employing the Multidimensional Runge Kutta Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (MRKOMP) algorithm in MIMO systems. The proposed method aims to enhance network coverage and channel capacity for efficient data transmission. By utilizing the multiscale cumulative residual distribution entropy function, the method establishes an indirect path when the line‐of‐sight is obstructed. Furthermore, the multidimensional orthogonal matching pursuit methodology calculates sparsity levels and facilitates sparse recovery. Optimization of the weight parameter through the Runge Kutta optimizer effectively eliminates sparsity, resulting in improved spectral efficiency and RIS gain. Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) can provide unprecedented spectral efficiency gains and excellent ability to manipulate electromagnetic waves. This article considered a RIS‐assisted multiuser multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) downlink system, where the beamforming at the base station and RIS are jointly designed to maximize the sum‐rate. For the large dimension scenario and high‐rank beamforming matrix, the accurate deterministic approximations from random matrix theory are then utilized to simplify the RIS‐assisted MIMO systems. The asymptotical signal‐to‐interference‐plus‐noise ratio values obtained through random matrix theory is infinitely close to the theoretical limits calculated by accurately iteration. And the performance of the proposed algorithm computed via the sharing second‐order channel statistics matches that of the RIS algorithm with sharing full channel state information asymptotically. The deterministic approximations are instrumental to get improvement into the structure of the optimal beamforming and to reduce the implementation complexity in large‐scale MIMO system. Numerical simulations results are provided to evaluate and verify the accuracy of the asymptotic results obtained from the proposed algorithm in the finite system regime. With the complex operation process of large dimension matrix reducing to the deterministic approximations, a lower computational complexity can be obtained compared with other methods. Summary The channel plays a significant role as the multipath in Multiple Input Multiple Output‐Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO‐OFDM) systems. The precoding‐based channel estimation algorithms estimate the channel capacity at the receiver node and they provide efficient channel estimates under worst case channel scenarios. To estimate the channel capacity in the mobile node, semi‐blind scenario is a crucial task in Multi User (MU) MIMO systems. Therefore, a semi blind sparse channel estimation algorithm is demonstrated in the MU‐MIMO system to provide better performance. In the transmitter side, the signal modulation is performed with the help of Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK), and the modulated signal is given to Pulse Shaping Algorithm (PSA) to reduce the inter‐carrier interference as well as inter symbol interference. At each transmitter, the Inverse Fast Fourier Transforms (IFFT) technique is used for mapping the symbols and then the mapped signal is send to the receiver. In the receiver side, the FFT, pulse reshaping, and QPSK demodulation blocks are serially connected and perform inverse operations of the transmitter in the receiver. Then, the sparse channel is estimated at the receiver by using the semi blind sparse algorithm, where the parameters are optimized by using the Hybridized Drosophila with Virus Colony Search Optimization (HD‐VCSO). The objective function of the developed sparse channel estimation is the reduction of Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) in the channel. Summary: Dual interactive Wasserstein generative adversarial networks optimized with hybrid Archimedes optimization and chimp optimization algorithm‐based channel estimation in OFDM (DiWGAN‐Hyb AOA‐COA‐MIMO‐OFDM) is proposed in this manuscript. In OFDM, there is a non‐stationary channel physical appearance during channel estimation (CE). Therefore in this work, Hyb AOA‐COA is employed to enhance the DiWGAN weight parameters. The proposed DiWGAN‐Hyb AOA‐COA‐MIMO‐OFDM technique is executed in network simulator (NS2) tool. The proposed technique attains lower computational cost 99.67%, 92.34%, and 97.45%; lesser bit error rate 98.33%, 83.12%, and 88.96%; and lesser mean square error 93.15%, 79.90%, and 92.88% compared with existing methods, like MIMO‐OFDM system using deep neural network and MN‐based improved AMO model (DNN‐IAMO‐MIMO‐OFDM), MIMO‐OFDM systems using the deep learning and optimization (RBFNN‐PSO‐MIMO‐OFDM), and MIMO‐OFDM systems using hybrid neural network (HNN‐CSI‐MIMO‐OFDM) respectively. In this letter, an optimal calibration factor for mutual information effective signal‐to‐interference‐plus‐noise ratio (SINR) mapping (MIESM) scheme in fifth‐generation new radio (5G NR) is provided. By applying the optimal calibration factor to the MIESM scheme, the estimation accuracy of the effective SINR can be improved. The optimal calibration factor minimizes the mean squared error (MSE) of the difference between the estimated effective SINR and the required SNR under additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) at a block error rate (BLER) of 10%. Summary: A cell‐free (CF) technology and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) acting as aerial relay stations (ARSs) are gradually viewed as viable technologies for usage in sixth‐generation (6G) wireless networks owing to their outstanding advantages, such as large coverage, uniform service quality, huge connections, flexible deployment in all geographical areas, and high line‐of‐sight (LoS) probability. As a result, the combination of the CF model and UAVs is suitable for densely populated urban areas, shopping malls, festivals, and locations with complex geography. Furthermore, the integration of the CF model and UAV communication can improve system quality and is considered an entirely new research direction as there is no comprehensive investigation of this combined model. In this study, we investigate the quality of the multi‐ARS CF communication system, where ARSs are equipped with multiple antennas and stochastic distribution within a specific region to simultaneously serve numerous ground users. We establish a closed‐form formulation for the uplink and downlink throughput of individual users by using the matched filtering method and conjugate beamforming technology, respectively. Moreover, we propose a novel method to optimize the pilot and data transmission power coefficients for improving channel estimation and increasing throughput per user, thereby ensuring a high quality of service. The power optimization method is executed via the successive convex approximation (SCA) method, second‐order cone program (SOCP), and linear program. We evaluate system performance according to the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of user throughput based on various parameters, such as the number of users, the number of ARSs, and the length of pilot sequences. The analytical findings also reveal that the system with the proposed power optimization method is always superior to the system without the proposed method in both uplink and downlink. Summary: Nowadays, multiple input multiple outputs with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO‐OFDM) provide better communication performance that can be applied to the fast‐growing Internet of Things (IoTs). In underwater IoT, information fades away rapidly due to varying water conditions. Therefore, the MIMO model can be applied to the OFDM acoustic system, enabling high‐speed data transmission without affecting the channel effectively. However, detecting the underwater signal and estimating the channel is highly necessary for enhancing underwater acoustic communication (UWAC). Recently, many techniques have been introduced for effectively performing signal detection and channel estimation. However, those techniques face high time complexity due to increased channel interferences and noises during data transmission. Hence, this article brings a novel technique for SD and CE for the UWAC‐IoT‐enabled MIMO‐OFDM system. An adaptive recursive least square (ARLS) technique is proposed in this study for CE that aids in evaluating the acoustic channel parameters effectively. For performing SD, a bi‐directional deep pelican convolutional neural network (BDPCNN) technique is introduced to ensure the presence and absence of signals at the receiver end. The proposed method is analyzed via the MATLAB platform, and the performances are analyzed under different water types like turbid water, coastal water, clear ocean water, and pure seawater. Different performance metrics like bit error rate (BER), mean square error (MSE), energy efficiency (EE), and time complexity are analyzed with different existing techniques. Summary: The future generation of wireless communications systems uses the generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM) due to its viable candidate waveform to perform multiple user scheduling. It is a non‐orthogonal waveform susceptible to intercarrier and intersymbol interference (ISI); still, it offers flexible pulse shaping that enhances the efficiency of user scheduling. Here, to accomplish spatial diversity, the multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) is incorporated with GFDM to enhance the performance; there is also an extra inter‐antenna interference problem that limits the model's performance. The issue concerning inter‐antenna interference can be resolved by adopting pilot‐based information transfer. The detection of a signal at the receiver based on the minimum mean square error has the issue of computational complexity while enhancing the estimation quality of a detector. Hence, a low‐complexity channel estimation technique is proposed in this research using the V‐degree polynomial‐based channel estimation technique, wherein the cubic order computation is reduced to square order. Also, the proposed adaptive pulse shaping technique, wherein the filter coefficient is optimized using the gazelle optimization algorithm (GOA) to provide optimal pulse shaping filter parameters by employing bit error rate (BER) as the objective function. To tackle massive data, subsampling is a practical approach to select the more informative data points. However, when responses are expensive to measure, developing efficient subsampling schemes is challenging, and an optimal sampling approach under measurement constraints was developed to meet this challenge. This method uses the inverses of optimal sampling probabilities to reweight the objective function, which assigns smaller weights to the more important data points. Thus, the estimation efficiency of the resulting estimator can be improved. In this paper, we propose an unweighted estimating procedure based on optimal subsamples to obtain a more efficient estimator. We obtain the unconditional asymptotic distribution of the estimator via martingale techniques without conditioning on the pilot estimate, which has been less investigated in the existing subsampling literature. Mobile edge computing (MEC) is an important research topic in the field of wireless communication and mobile computing, as it can effectively decrease the latency and energy consumption due to the trade‐off between the communication and computing, where some intensive computing tasks can be offloaded to computational access points (CAPs), especially when the wireless transmission channel is in good condition. This article studies how to intelligently allocate the computing capability and wireless bandwidth among users for a cache‐aided multi‐terminal multi‐CAP MEC network with non‐ideal channel estimation, where there are N$$ N $$ mobile terminals and M$$ M $$ CAPs in the network. Each terminal has some tasks that need to be computed in a fast and efficient way. For such a system, we first design the system by jointly considering the computing capability and wireless bandwidth allocation, where the computing and communication delay is used as the performance of metric. To optimize the system performance, we then employ deep deterministic policy gradient to learn an effective strategy on the allocation of computing capability and wireless bandwidth, in order to decrease the system delay as much as possible. Summary: To provide the increasing demand for wireless technologies, high capacity with lower latency is vital. New emerging technologies like 5G, millimeter wave, THz, and so forth are able to characterize such complex fading and shadowed environments. Spatial diversity is one of the techniques to minimize fading in the wireless communication channel. The performance of the wireless communication system can be further optimized by using estimators at the receivers. The influence of imperfect channel estimation on the performance over shadowed Beaulieu‐Xie (SBX) fading channels with L‐maximal ratio combining (MRC) diversity is studied. The probability density function (PDF) of the received output signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) with L‐MRC over SBX fading channels is derived. Further PDF of the received output SNR, outage probability, and average bit error rate (ABER) using the derived PDF is evaluated for L‐MRC diversity with channel estimation error over SBX fading channels. Summary: Several input high‐data‐rate transmissions over broadband wireless channels are possible using multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems paired with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technology. Channel estimation is an essential technique and a necessary component of MIMO‐OFDM systems. However, the noise will be there in MIMO‐OFDM due to the environment. As a result, the wireless system performs degrades in terms of bit error rate (BER). The suggested method offers a better pilot pattern strategy for MIMO‐OFDM and an efficient power allocation to address this issue. The binomial distribution‐based grey wolf optimization (BDGWO) algorithm is proposed to identify the optimal pilot patterns. The power is then adaptively distributed to each transmit antenna to increase the spectral efficiency and maximum channel capacity through an adaptive neuro‐fuzzy inference system with a sigmoid membership function (SMFANFIS). The best pilot patterns in PDGSIP (pilot design with generalized shift invariant property) were determined using the BDGWO algorithm based on the binomial distribution. According to the simulation results, the proposed BDGWO established pilot design with generalized shift invariant property (BDGWO‐DGSIP) achieves higher performance compared other existing approaches such as PDGSIP, TPDGSIP, and LS in terms of NMSE, BER, and SER. Summary: Two fundamental aspects of wireless communication, which make it challenging and interesting, are fading and interference. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) techniques when utilized together effectively combat fading and interference thereby achieving the requirement of high data rate and high performance. In this paper, a 2 × 1 MIMO‐OFDM baseband model of the physical layer according to IEEE 802.16.1 standard employing 256 subcarriers capable of transmitting 192 Mbps in a 21‐MHz bandwidth frequency selective fading channel is designed. All essential blocks of the communication system like channel coding, modulation, time synchronization, frequency synchronization, channel estimation, residual carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation, and channel decoding are covered at the algorithm level. A two‐step time synchronization method is used in this work to avoid any ambiguity in frame detection. A long preamble, consisting of three short preambles, is designed to aid in time synchronization, frequency synchronization, and channel estimation. This paper proposes a novel machine learning (ML) assisted low‐latency low density parity check (LDPC) coded adaptive modulation (AM) system, where short block‐length LDPC codes are used. Conventional adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) system includes fixed look‐up table method, which is also called inner loop link adaptation (ILLA) and outer loop link adaptation (OLLA). For ILLA, the adaptive capability is achieved by switching the modulation and coding modes based on a look‐up table using signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) thresholds at the target bit error rate (BER), while OLLA builds upon the ILLA method by dynamically adjusting the SNR thresholds to further optimize the system performance. Although both improve the system overall throughput by switching between different transmission modes, there is still a gap to optimal performance as the BER is comparatively far away from the target BER. Machine learning (ML) is a promising solution in solving various classification problems. In this work, the supervised learning based k‐nearest neighbours (KNN) algorithm is invoked for choosing the optimum transmission mode based on the training data and the instantaneous SNR. This work focuses on the low‐latency communications scenarios, where short block‐length LDPC codes are utilized. On the other hand, given the short block‐length constraint, we propose to artificially generate the training data to train our ML assisted AMC scheme. The simulation results show that the proposed ML‐LDPC‐AMC scheme can achieve a higher throughput than the ILLA system while maintaining the target BER. Compared with OLLA, the proposed scheme can maintain the target BER while the OLLA fails to maintain the target BER when the block length is short. In addition, when considering the channel estimation errors, the performance of the proposed ML‐LDPC‐AMC maintains the target BER, while the ILLA system's BER performance can be higher than the target BER. Channel state information (CSI), which is crucial for resource allocation and system performance in time division duplex (TDD) massive multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) systems, is difficult to predict because of the channel's time‐varying nature. To overcome this limitation, a scheme for channel prediction combined with deep learning (DL) is proposed. The system uses a deep neural network (DNN) to interpolate channel estimates from a few received pilot signals and a recurrent neural network (RNN) to train through the current time and the recent historical channel estimates to predict the CSI while the channel is constantly varying. In the end, a mixed neural network of RNN and DNN, is called MRDNN. In addition, the proposed DL‐based method does not rely on the relevant feature information about the channel, such as internal characteristics and parameters of the channel itself or channel statistical information, which improves its effectiveness in practical applications. The results of the simulation show that the MRDNN‐based method is better than the existing methods, like traditional AR method and NL Kalman method, and also can be effective in improving the quality of channel prediction and the performance of the system under the dynamic change scenario of low mobility. Summary: Developing a reliable and robust underwater acoustic communication system is a difficult task due to the complicated nature of the underwater channel, non‐stationary noise, and several other factors. Indeed, channel estimation or equalization presents numerous challenges in this non‐stationary, highly Doppler, multipath environment; as a result, traditional equalizers and PLL‐based methods have limited performance. Generally, communication over such time‐varying channels is accomplished via packets that contain a prefix/preamble signal for training, a payload containing the actual data, and a silent period for proper alignment. The prefix signal must be designed properly because it is used to estimate the channel and determine the start of the packet. In this paper, we propose a new prefix signal based on the hyperbolic chirp signal, which has Doppler invariance properties. These properties enable the extraction of the entire packet even under severe multipath and Doppler. Our new proposed prefix signal can accurately and efficiently characterize an underwater channel by estimating the multipath delay, amplitude, and Doppler scales. Our new method has been validated through extensive simulations using various channel models for its robustness and effectiveness under various conditions. The next generations of wireless communications systems are pushing the limits of the channel estimation methods utilized in the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing receptors. This letter proposes a novel channel estimation method using a densely connected neural network considering the time‐variant frequency‐selective fading channel model. A fully connected deep neural network for the AWGN channel case is also proposed. The comparative complexity of the estimation for different channel models is also discussed. The simulation results demonstrate that the densely connected neural network method surpasses the minimum mean‐square error method performance for a signal‐to‐noise ratio ranging from 0 to 25 dB in the frequency‐selective channel. This letter proposes a novel channel estimation method using a densely connected neural network considering the time‐variant frequency‐selective fading channel model. Summary: In this work, a deep learning (DL)‐based massive multiple‐input multiple‐output (mMIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system is investigated over the tapped delay line type C (TDL‐C) model with a Rayleigh fading distribution at frequencies ranging from 0.5 to 100 GHz. The proposed bi‐directional long short‐term memory (Bi‐LSTM) channel state information (CSI) estimator uses online learning during training and offline learning during the practical implementation phase. The design of the estimator takes into account situations in which prior knowledge of channel statistics is limited and targets excellent performance, even with limited pilot symbols (PS). Three separate loss functions (mean square logarithmic error [MSLE], Huber, and Kullback–Leibler Distance [KLD]) are assessed in three classification layers. The symbol error rate (SER) and outage probability performance of the proposed estimator are evaluated using a number of optimization techniques, such as stochastic gradient descent (SGD), momentum, and the adaptive gradient (AdaGrad) algorithm. The Bi‐LSTM‐based CSI estimator is trained considering a specific number of PS. It can be readily seen that by incorporating a cyclic prefix (CP), the system becomes more resilient to channel impairments, resulting in a lower SER. Simulations show that the SGD optimization approach and Huber loss function‐trained Bi‐LSTM‐based CSI estimator have the lowest SER and very high estimation accuracy. By using deep neural networks (DNNs), the Bi‐LSTM method for CSI estimation achieves a superior channel capacity (in bps/Hz) at 10 dB than long short‐term memory (LSTM) and other conventional CSI estimators, such as minimum mean square error (MMSE) and least squares (LS). Summary: This paper proposes a new pilot pattern in the delay‐Doppler (DD) domain for the orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) system. In contrast to the embedded‐pilot schemes, guard intervals are not used so as increase the spectral efficiency. Also, compared to the superimposed design where data symbols and pilots are arranged on the entire DD grid, in the proposed rearrangement, the number of pilots used is only spread over a subgrid of the DD grid. Hence, the interference of pilots with data symbols is reduced. Afterwards, an algorithm for channel estimation (CE) and symbol detection in the DD domain benefiting from the sparsity of the DD channel is designed. The sparse CE step is formulated as a specific marginalization of the maximum a posteriori (MAP) criterion by providing a Bayesian approach via the mean‐field approximation that involves the variational Bayesian expectation maximization (VB‐EM) algorithm. Detection of data symbols is done using a low complexity MP algorithm. We also propose an interference cancellation (IC) scheme to mitigate contamination of data by pilots that is run after each CE step. To achieve a high CE accuracy, based on the mean mutual incoherence property (MIP), a pilot optimization problem for OTFS is formulated and develop a simulated annealing‐based algorithm to solve it. Finally, simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves a good compromise between spectral efficiency, complexity, and performance in terms of bit error rate (BER) and normalized mean square error (NMSE) when compared to literature benchmarks. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technology has been increasingly applied to power line carrier communication (PLC). Discrete Fourier Transformation (DFT)‐based channel estimation algorithm is suitable for OFDM‐based PLC due to its low complexity. In view of the problem that the traditional DFT channel estimation does not consider the influence of noise inside cyclic prefix (CP), an improved DFT channel estimation based on signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) estimation is proposed. First, least‐square (LS) algorithm is performed and the frequency domain channel estimation is converted to the time domain through inverse DFT, and the average SNR of the system is estimated according to the pilot sequence. Second, the substitute SNR for each sample point inside CP is defined and used to filter impulse noise inside CP. Third, the average SNR is converted into the threshold of the useful signal energy inside CP, and the widespread background noise inside CP is filtered. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can obtain more accurate channel estimation than other DFT channel estimation algorithms because it can effectively filter out noise inside CP. This paper presents a multi‐input deep learning‐based joint pilot decontamination and symbol detection (SD) technique for 5G massive multiple‐input multiple‐output (MAMIMO) systems. It consists of a fully convolutional neural network (FCNN) that finds the 5G channel coefficients using pre‐known sounding reference signals (SRSs) under pilot contamination and a symbol detector derived from projected gradient descent iterations. The study considers pilot contamination caused by inter‐cell interferences between SRSs during channel estimation (CE). The proposed scheme accepts entire 5G orthogonal frequency modulated (OFDM) data and least square estimates and produces the transmitted OFDM signal. Simulation experiments demonstrated that the proposed technique has better CE and SD performance with reduced trainable parameters. Moreover, it is faster due to the lowest elapsed time during end‐to‐end OFDM symbol detection. This paper proposes a joint pilot decontamination and signal detection for 5G MAMIMO systems. This paper studies the problem of spatially correlated channel estimation for reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)‐assisted multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) systems with arbitrarily correlated Gaussian perturbation. In particular, composite RIS channel estimation is first explored based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) method, and optimal training sequence design of pilots with MSE minimization. Applying the Kronecker‐structured model, correlated composite RIS‐related channels and correlated Gaussian perturbation are then characterized. The optimal training sequence structure and spatial training power allocation conditions are derived, and the choice of the optimal training sequence length is also analyzed. Finally, numerical results are provided to assess the performance of the proposed estimate method under different training sequence structures, the optimal length of the training sequence, and information statistics. Extensive numerical results show that the proposed estimate method has supreme performance compared to state of‐the‐art baseline methods (e.g. maximum likelihood and two‐sided linear channel estimation methods). Summary: In this paper, we have presented the outage probability analysis of multiple intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)‐assisted single‐input‐single‐output (SISO) system with switched diversity schemes. The switched diversity is simpler than the selection combining diversity technique, which can help in reducing the channel estimation overhead. There are two main types of switch diversity schemes, namely, switch and stay combining (SSC) and switch and examine combining (SEC). We consider a SISO wireless scenario in which a single transmitting antenna is sending its message to the receiving antenna with the aid of multiple IRS panels. This communication scenario will arise as a typical application of uplink scenario for future 6G wireless systems. The outage probability (OP) expressions for dual‐IRS‐panel‐aided SSC system and multiple‐IRS‐panel‐aided SEC system are analyzed, respectively, over Rician fading channels. We derive tight approximate OP expressions in closed form for a large number of IRS elements. Further, we derive a simple asymptotic OP for studying diversity order and coding gain. This paper, considers the channel estimation problem of the uplink low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system. By exploiting the channel structured sparsity in the delay‐Doppler‐angle domain, the channel estimation problem is formulated as a block‐sparse signal recovery problem. The variance state propagation (VSP) framework is extended to solve such a problem. Considering that the delay, Doppler shift, and angle of departure (AoD) of each propagation path may not exactly fall on the presumed discrete grid points, an expectation maximization (EM) based parameter learning scheme in VSP to iteratively update the grid parameters is introduced. In the management of most chronic conditions characterized by the lack of universally effective treatments, adaptive treatment strategies (ATSs) have grown in popularity as they offer a more individualized approach. As a result, sequential multiple assignment randomized trials (SMARTs) have gained attention as the most suitable clinical trial design to formalize the study of these strategies. While the number of SMARTs has increased in recent years, sample size and design considerations have generally been carried out in frequentist settings. However, standard frequentist formulae require assumptions on interim response rates and variance components. Misspecifying these can lead to incorrect sample size calculations and correspondingly inadequate levels of power. The Bayesian framework offers a straightforward path to alleviate some of these concerns. In this paper, we provide calculations in a Bayesian setting to allow more realistic and robust estimates that account for uncertainty in inputs through the 'two priors' approach. Additionally, compared to the standard frequentist formulae, this methodology allows us to rely on fewer assumptions, integrate pre‐trial knowledge, and switch the focus from the standardized effect size to the MDD. The proposed methodology is evaluated in a thorough simulation study and is implemented to estimate the sample size for a full‐scale SMART of an internet‐based adaptive stress management intervention on cardiovascular disease patients using data from its pilot study conducted in two Canadian provinces. Among the technologies that have made 5G wireless communication successful are non‐orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) and cooperative NOMA. The distinction is that cooperative NOMA adds coding schemes to improve performance. Nevertheless, research on cooperative NOMA has primarily used theoretical correlation‐based stochastic models (CBSM) instead of geometric‐based stochastic models (GBSM) that represent suitable channel conditions by including characteristics like path loss, delay profile, and angle of arrival in the model. This paper connects the low adoption of GBSM is due to computational challenges. Given this, it is essential to assess cooperative NOMA that employs GBSM with large antenna transmitters to meet future 5G expectations. The cooperative NOMA system's transmitter is modelled as a uniform rectangular array and a novel channel realisation is proposed for analysis. The location vector of the antenna using the physical dimension of the array is defined to reduce computational problems. Results shows that the average bit‐error performance of GBSM matches that of CBSM at the same antenna element separation, but the spatial correlation between antenna elements significantly impacts the outage probability and average achievable rates of GBSM performance. The increasing development and utilisation of optical camera communications offer an excellent opportunity for the implementation of the smartphone‐to‐smartphone‐based visible light communications (S2SVLC) system. In this study, the authors experimentally demonstrate that the S2SVLC system can support high‐quality multimedia transmissions by the investigation of the mean square error estimation, peak signal‐to‐noise (PSNR) degradation, bit error rate (BER), and data rate achieved. The experimental analysis has been carried out for different typical practical background illuminations (i.e., normal illumination and dark condition), distances, tilting, and rotation angles. The PSNR and BER are determined for different frame sizes in the S2SVLC system to provide an insight of system performance. Fast‐OFDM‐based intensity‐modulation and direct‐detection (IM/DD) has been proposed for deployment of cost‐efficient optical access networks, due to its implementation simplicity and high spectral efficiency. In this article, the accuracy of the generalised memory polynomial (GMP) for the non‐linear modelling of optical Fast‐OFDM links is studied, including memory effects and considering different model parameters. After model validation using measured data of a 10 km single mode fibre link, the GMP is used for performance investigations of a distortion compensation approach to optical Fast‐OFDM, for up to 16PAM modulation formats and different number of Fast‐OFDM subcarriers. This study firstly reports the performance results of optical 16PAM‐Fast‐OFDM systems using either 2PAM‐ or 4PAM‐based training signals for digital post‐distortion and FFT‐based channel estimation, and firstly investigates the influence of the zero padding (ZP) length on the performance of optical Fast‐OFDM. Only a subset of subcarriers are activated in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing‐index modulation (OFDM‐IM), which achieves higher energy efficiency and resists frequency offset. In the OFDM‐IM, the energy of the received signal is computed and then combined with pre‐processed signal to create the input of detection network. Inspired by image denoising technology, this study enhances the detection performance by denoising the pre‐processed data and improving the energy distribution in the OFDM‐IM system. First, considering that the noise reduction process of the pre‐processed signal can effectively mitigate the distortion by noise which affects the detection accuracy, this study proposes a two‐phase neural network termed as Deep‐Denoising‐IM through the combination of a noise reduction network and a deep learning detection method. Then, to better determine the position of the active carriers, a joint decision method of the denoised data and the received signal is designed as the IQ signal of the denoised data may change the quadrant of original signal distribution. In addition, the pre‐processed data sample has insufficient diversity. Considering that data enhancement can increase the noise of the signal samples, this study proposes a method to strengthen the silent carriers in the model training phase, which improves the generalization ability of the model and further enhances the denoising performance. Simulation results show that Deep‐Denoising‐IM outperforms the existing detectors in terms of mean square error (MSE) and bit error rate (BER) under the Rayleigh fading channel. Due to their perfect periodic autocorrelation property, Zadoff–Chu sequences are often used as stimulus signals in the measurement of radio channel responses. In this letter, the cross‐correlation of a linear shift‐invariant system's response to a Zadoff–Chu sequence is derived for the case that a multiplicative perturbation such as phase noise is present at its output. The perturbation signal is shown to incur a spurious discrete Fourier transform, thus degrading the correlation's peak to sidelobe ratio. Summary: The channel estimation (CE) process is an important phase that has a considerable influence on the performance of massive multiple‐input multiple‐output systems, in particular, in a more realistic scenario where the channels are spatially correlated (ScD). Thereby, in this work, the uplink (UL) CE process and channel hardening (CH) feature is addressed for ScD Rayleigh fading channels using the statistical Bayesian minimum mean square error estimator. The spatial correlation (SC) of the channels is described using different models, namely, the Gaussian local scattering (GLS) model, the uniform local scattering model, and the proposed hybrid model. Each model (i.e., GLS model and the uniform local scattering model) is studied using two arrangements, that is, for a uniform linear array (ULA) and uniform planar array (UPA). Moreover, the CH feature is investigated under SC of the channels using different models. Furthermore, this study proposes an efficient hybrid strategy based on SC of the channels for UL CE; that is, this work proposes a hybrid covariance matrix (CM) for UPA arrangement by relying on the Kronecker product of the CMs generated through two ULA arrangements, where the first CM is generated through horizontal ULA using GLS model, whereas the second CM is generated through vertical ULA using uniform local scattering model (i.e., one‐ring model). To support communication channels with non‐stationary properties, the pilots are usually configured for the channel worst case in order to ensure the accuracy of tracking the channel, which inevitably causes a waste of resources. To solve this issue, first, a flexible two‐dimensional pilot muting mechanism is proposed by exploiting the time and frequency diversity of the pilot sequence of the resource grid for non‐stationary channel fading environment. Then a super‐resolution based non‐stationary channel recovery scheme for data channel recovery is further proposed for two‐dimensional pilot muting, and the energy efficiency of a resource block is also maximized. Accurate channel state information (CSI) is extremely crucial to realize high‐accurate hybrid precoding, in millimeter wave communication systems. In order to improve the CSI estimation performance, several traditional channel estimators have been developed by exploiting the sparse or low‐rank property, whilst they bring huge channel training overhead and computational complexity. In this work, based on jointly sparse and low‐rank property of massive multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel, one non‐convex mmWave channel estimation problem is formulated and a novel scheme to acquire one accurate CSI estimation result with greatly reduced training overhead is proposed. Specifically, the non‐convex problem is reformulated as two simple sub‐problems, by exploiting the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) technique. Based on the low‐rank characteristic, one fast gradient descent matrix completion algorithm is developed to accurately solve the first sub‐problem. On this basis, the compressed sensing (CS) technique to acquire the accurate CSI estimation matrix is further utilized. Summary: The major goal of millimeter wave (mmWave) multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) systems is to get effective channel state information (CSI). Most of the recent works use nuclear norm theory for recovering the low‐rank scheme of channels. Some suboptimal solutions to the rank minimization problem can occur while addressing the nuclear norm‐based convex problem, which degrades the accuracy of channel estimation. Some works recover the channel with the assumption of the mmWave channel using an over‐complete dictionary. On the other hand, the accuracy of available CSI may openly influence the efficiency of mmWave communications. The main intention of this paper is to develop an enhanced channel estimation model with an optimized hybrid deep learning model. Here, the integration of deep neural network (DNN) and long short‐term memory (LSTM) form the hybrid deep learning model termed optimized D‐LSTM, which is modified by the opposition searched exploration‐based Harris hawks optimization (OE‐HHO). The input to the proposed hybrid deep learning is taken as the correlation among the received signal vectors and the measurement matrix for predicting the beam space channel amplitude. Finally, the successful channel estimation is observed by deep hybrid learning by the experimental outcomes, which also demonstrate that the proposed channel estimation model overwhelms the conventional models in terms of Normalized Mean‐Squared Error (NMSE) and spectral efficiency. The experimental results show that the designed OE‐HHO method obtains 9.2%, 8.9%, 8.65%, and 0.47% progressed than DA, DHOA, GWO, and HHO, respectively. Summary: In this paper, the channel estimation and signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) estimation technique of single‐carrier frequency domain equalization (SC‐FDE) system under low SNR in aeronautical multipath channel are studied, a SNR estimation algorithm which is easy to implement in engineering and an improved LS channel estimation algorithm based on Kalman filter using minimum error entropy (MEE‐KF) are proposed. This paper first introduces the SC‐FDE system and introduces the principle of MEE‐KF, and then, the channel estimation flow based on MEE‐KF is obtained by combining it with the traditional LS channel estimation algorithm, which makes the estimation results perform better. Using reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) to improve the coverage and the data rate of future wireless networks is a viable option. These surfaces are constituted of a significant number of passive and nearly passive components that interact with incident signals in a smart way, such as by reflecting them, to increase the wireless system's performance as a result of which the notion of a smart radio environment comes to fruition. In this survey, a study review of RIS‐assisted wireless communication is supplied starting with the principles of RIS which include the hardware architecture, the control mechanisms, and the discussions of previously held views about the channel model and pathloss; then the performance analysis considering different performance parameters, analytical approaches and metrics are presented to describe the RIS‐assisted wireless network performance improvements. Despite its enormous promise, RIS confronts new hurdles in integrating into wireless networks efficiently due to its passive nature. Consequently, the channel estimation for, both full and nearly passive RIS and the RIS deployments are compared under various wireless communication models and for single and multi‐users. Orthogonal time‐frequency space (OTFS) modulation, which has recently been proposed in the literature, is one of the promising techniques designed in the 2D Delay‐Doppler domain adapted to combat high Doppler fading channels. However, channel estimation in high Doppler scenarios in advanced mobile‐communication systems is still a challenging task. In this paper, the problem of channel estimation in the Delay‐Doppler domain of the OTFS is focused on. First, a simple adaptation of the generalized orthogonal matching pursuit procedure, which will serve as a baseline method in this work, is proposed. Then, iterative algorithms are derived beneficiating from the sparsity of the channel. The unknown channel vector is separated into an unknown sparse support vector corresponding to the delay and Doppler taps, and an unknown vector of channel gains. These algorithms involve ℓ1‐norm minimization and a two‐stage iterative procedure to recover alternatively the channel support and its coefficients. The estimation problem is also addressed from a Bayesian point of view. The sparse representation is reformulated as a specific marginalization of the maximum a posteriori problem on the support of the channel. To deal with the intractability of this problem, two existing techniques are adapted to this context, namely: The Monte Carlo Markov chain with the Gibbs sampler and variational mean‐field approximation with the variational Bayesian expectation‐maximization procedure. Finally, to assess the performance of the proposed algorithms, their complexity and performance are compared against existing methods. Experimental tests, conducted in high‐mobility scenarios and low‐latency applications, show that the proposed schemes are slightly more expensive in terms of complexity load but perform significantly better in terms of normalized mean square error and bit error rate. 6D pose estimation of rigid objects from RGB‐D images is crucial for object grasping and manipulation in robotics. Although RGB channels and the depth (D) channel are often complementary, providing respectively the appearance and geometry information, it is still non‐trivial on how to fully benefit from the two cross‐modal data. From the simple yet new observation, when an object rotates, its semantic label is invariant to the pose while its keypoint offset direction is variant to the pose. To this end, we present SO(3)‐Pose, a new representation learning network to explore SO(3)‐equivariant and SO(3)‐invariant features from the depth channel for pose estimation. The SO(3)‐invariant features facilitate to learn more distinctive representations for segmenting objects with similar appearance from RGB channels. The SO(3)‐equivariant features communicate with RGB features to deduce the (missed) geometry for detecting keypoints of an object with the reflective surface from the depth channel. Unlike most of existing pose estimation methods, our SO(3)‐Pose not only implements the information communication between the RGB and depth channels, but also naturally absorbs the SO(3)‐equivariance geometry knowledge from depth images, leading to better appearance and geometry representation learning. In order to overcome the disadvantages of traditional channel simulation approaches and achieve more accurate millimetre‐wave (mmWave) channel simulation under the condition of limited measured data, a novel Long Short‐term Memory Networks (LSTM) based hybrid mmWave channel simulation approach is proposed in this work. The proposed hybrid approach takes advantages of LSTM‐based time‐varying model of path loss and large‐scale channel parameters, statistical model of intra‐cluster multipath parameters and ray tracing, which are able to accurately simulate path loss, large‐scale channel parameters, multipath parameters and channel impulse responses, respectively. Based on the mmWave channel data measured in the waiting hall of Qingdaobei Railway Station, it is verified that the simulation results of our proposed hybrid approach are in good agreement with the measured data and better than that of existing channel simulation approaches. Summary: Incorporation of multiple antennas in downlink non‐orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system helps in achieving better performance by exploiting different diversity schemes. To this end, we propose a general framework of transmit antenna selection (TAS)‐assisted orthogonal space‐time block code (OSTBC) transmission for multiple NOMA users. We derive exact expressions of probability density function of the TAS‐OSTBC processed signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) at the output of maximum‐ratio combiner of the NOMA users. Using well‐known moment generating function approach, we evaluate the error performance of TAS‐OSTBC assisted NOMA users over generalized η−μ fading channel in presence of perfect and imperfect successive interference cancelation. We investigate the proposed system in different multi‐antenna scenarios and accordingly observe better error performance of the users by increasing the number of transmit and receive antennas. We perform their asymptotic analysis leading to full‐diversity order at high SNR. For numerical evaluation, we truncate the infinite series in derived results and examine the upper bound of truncation error. We evaluate nth moment of the output SNR and obtain channel quality estimation index as a performance measure of the proposed NOMA system. Moreover, we investigate the influence of power coefficients and fading parameters, η and μ, on the error performance of TAS‐OSTBC‐assisted NOMA users. We also compare the derived error performances with the existing schemes, wherein we observe that the proposed system shows remarkable improvement in the bit error rate (BER) of the NOMA users. In recent years, Wi‐Fi has become the main gateway that connects users to the Internet. Considering the availability of Wi‐Fi signals, and their suitability for channel estimation, IEEE established the Wi‐Fi Sensing (WS) Task Group whose purpose is to study the feasibility of Wi‐Fi‐based environment sensing. However, Wi‐Fi signals are transmitted over limited bandwidths with a relatively small number of antennas in bursts, fundamentally limiting the range, Angle‐of‐Arrival and speed resolutions. This paper presents a super‐resolution algorithm to perform the parameter estimation in a quasi‐monostatic WS scenario. The proposed algorithm, RIVES, estimates the range, Angle‐of‐Arrival and speed parameters with Vandermonde decomposition of Hankel matrices. To estimate the size of the signal subspace, RIVES uses a novel Model Order Selection method which eliminates spurious noise targets based on their distance to the noise and signal subspaces. Various scenarios with multiple targets are simulated to show the robustness of RIVES. Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) are envisioned to transform the propagation space into a smart radio environment (SRE) to realize the diverse applications of sixth‐generation (6G) wireless communication. By smartly tuning the massive number of elements via controller, an RIS can passively phase‐shift the electromagnetic (EM) waves to enhance the system performance. The absence of radio‐frequency (RF) chains makes RIS an energy‐efficient and cost‐effective solution for future wireless networks. In this paper, the state‐of‐the‐art research on different aspects of RIS‐assisted communication is explored. Specifically, the fundamentals of RIS are first introduced, including the RIS's structure, operating principle, and deployment strategies. The emerging applications of RISs are then comprehensively discussed for 6G wireless networks. In addition, the crucial challenges for RIS‐assisted networks are elaborated, namely, RIS channel state information (CSI) acquisition and passive beamforming optimization. Furthermore, the recent research contributions leveraging the artificial intelligence (AI) based techniques for channel estimation, phase‐shift optimization, and resource allocation in RIS‐assisted networks are presented. The propagation of electromagnetic waves will produce multi‐path fading of wireless channel, which degrades communication performance substantially. If multi‐path can be separated, better signal transmission and reception strategies can be designed to weaken or eliminate fading and improve signal transmission performance. However, it is challenging for communication nodes with limited number of antennas. A general multi‐path separation and measurement framework based on single dynamic metasurface antenna is established which rapidly changes patterns within a single pilot symbol period so that equivalent multi‐dimensional received signals can be obtained. Based on the framework, a multi‐path channel estimation scheme is proposed. Specifically, the parameter estimation problem is formulated and present the algorithm based on atomic norm minimisation to estimate parameters including angle of arrival and complex gain of each propagation path. Simulation results illustrate that single dynamic metasurface antenna can approach the capability of a conventional multi‐antenna array, and even using single dynamic metasurface antenna with 1‐bit coding can estimate angle of arrivals and complex gains of multi‐path components accurately. Summary: Multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) technology is much significant for achieving high data rates while considering the multiuser communication. For this purpose, the estimation of Channel State Information (CSI) is performed by the pilot. But, the estimated CSI cannot be applied for downlinks while processing an extremely high speed mobile data as it gets outdated because of the rapid channel variation. Estimating the channel in the MIMO systems is highly difficult on using non‐stationary channel characteristics under the high mobility environments. Channel estimation with received signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) feedback ensures an effective performance in the practical wireless MIMO systems. This paper plans to develop an intelligent deep learning strategy to solve the channel estimation problem in MIMO system. The main goal of the proposed model is to estimate the MIMO channel coefficients at a transmitter based on the received SNR feedback information from a receiver using the swarm intelligence‐based deep ensemble learning machine (SI‐DELM). For both the scenarios, the SI‐DELM is developed, in which the convolution neural network (NN) with three classifiers is used. Here, the fully connected layers of CNN are replaced by the NN, recurrent neural network (RNN), and deep neural network (DNN). In the SI‐DEL‐based channel estimation, the hyper parameter tuning is performed by the adaptive iteration assisted mixture ratio‐based cat swarm optimization (AIMR‐CSO) for minimizing the mean square error (MSE) and bit error rate (BER) of the estimated channel. Finally, by performing numerical simulations, the efficiency and better performance of the suggested model is revealed by conducting the comparison between proposed and conventional models. In high‐speed mobile scenarios, due to the high‐speed relative motion between transmitter and receiver, the high Doppler frequency shift interferes with the inter‐subcarrier orthogonality in orthogonal frequency‐division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Therefore its performance is significantly degraded. Recently, orthogonal time–frequency space (OTFS) is considered as an effective alternative scheme to OFDM for time‐varying channels. As with OFDM‐massive multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems, downlink channel estimation is necessary for OTFS‐massive MIMO systems to improve the spectral efficiency in frequency‐division duplex (FDD) mode without channel reciprocity. Here, first the cyclic prefix ‐OFDM‐based massive MIMO OTFS system channel with antenna directivity pattern is analyzed, and transform the burst sparsity in the angle domain into block sparsity by using non‐uniform Fourier transform (NUFT). Furthermore, to solve the problem that the pilot overhead grows linearly with the number of antennas, we propose a three‐dimensional (3D) dynamic support detect (DSD) algorithm. Compared with the traditional OMP algorithm, and the 3D‐structured orthogonal matching pursuit algorithm, simulation results demonstrate the proposed DSD algorithm has higher channel estimation accuracy, and lower pilot overhead. To understand the state and trends in biodiversity beyond the scope of monitoring programs, biodiversity indicators must be comparable across inventories. Species richness (SR) is one of the most widely used biodiversity indicators. However, as SR increases with the size of the area sampled, inventories using different plot sizes are hardly comparable. This study aims at producing a methodological framework that enables SR comparisons across plot‐based inventories with differing plot sizes. We used National Forest Inventory (NFI) data from Norway, Slovakia, Spain, and Switzerland to build sample‐based rarefaction curves by randomly incrementally aggregating plots, representing the relationship between SR and sampled area. As aggregated plots can be far apart and subject to different environmental conditions, we estimated the amount of environmental heterogeneity (EH) introduced in the aggregation process. By correcting for this EH, we produced adjusted rarefaction curves mimicking the sampling of environmentally homogeneous forest stands, thus reducing the effect of plot size and enabling reliable SR comparisons between inventories. Models were built using the Conway–Maxell–Poisson distribution to account for the underdispersed SR data. Our method successfully corrected for the EH introduced during the aggregation process in all countries, with better performances in Norway and Switzerland. We further found that SR comparisons across countries based on the country‐specific NFI plot sizes are misleading, and that our approach offers an opportunity to harmonize pan‐European SR monitoring. Our method provides reliable and comparable SR estimates for inventories that use different plot sizes. Our approach can be applied to any plot‐based inventory and count data other than SR, thus allowing a more comprehensive assessment of biodiversity across various scales and ecosystems.
