Aim: To capture and retain healthcare staff in postgraduate courses relevant to individual career aspirations, service requirements and continuous practice development (CPD) within an English UK university. Design: Two virtual career clinics for postgraduate practitioners to engage in CPD offers within the university. An online post‐enrolment online survey to explore their experiences of engagement with the university. Methods: Mixed: qualitative and quantitative methods. Engaging 10 participants attended the career clinics, and 42 participants with an online survey. Results: The career clinics were well received by participants who mapped CPD requirements and individual career aspirations. The surveys exposed challenges with marketing and enrolment; however, these were mitigated with support. Objective: The present study sought to integrate minority stress theory (MST) and the interpersonal theory of suicide (ITS) to better understand high rates of suicide among sexual minority youth (SMY). To date, the ITS and MST have largely advanced independently from one another even though the research base for each theory contains gaps that the other theory may help fill.Method: Using data from a national sample of 564 SMY (aged 12-24) recruited from an LGBTQ youth-focused suicide crisis prevention provider, we examined structural equation models to understand how perceived burdensomeness and thwarted belongingness mediate the relationship between minority stress and suicidal ideation and attempt.Results: Sexual minority stress was significantly associated with both perceived burdensomeness and thwarted belongingness in models predicting suicidal ideation and attempt. Moreover, minority stress had a direct effect on suicide attempt and an indirect effect on both suicidal ideation and suicide attempt through burdensomeness.Conclusions: Given that minority stress is associated with greater thwarted belongingness, perceived burdensomeness, and suicide attempts, there should be greater demand for continuing education centered on sexual minority populations and population-specific services. Identifying burdensomeness as a minority stress-suicide mechanism highlights the potential gains of piloting recently developed burdensomeness interventions among SMY. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The creation of sustainable infrastructure is increasingly being provided in underground facilities. In terms of construction and maintenance, this leads to greater challenges for construction, transport and energy-provider companies. This also applies for emergency services organisations as well as to ensure the safety for the users of the infrastructure. The project 'Research@ZaB - Zentrum am Berg' will establish an underground facility for research and development, education and training purposes. On the one hand, the centre should meet the requirements of public institutions; on the other hand it represents a 'development factory' for private companies as well as concerned universities. Untertägige Anlagen sind substanzielle Elemente der innerstädtischen sowie überregionalen Infrastruktur und des Energiewesens. Die Schaffung zukunftsfähiger Infrastrukturen erfolgt zunehmend in unterirdischen Anlagen, was gleichzeitig zu größeren Herausforderungen für die Bau-, Verkehrs- und Energieunternehmen, aber auch die Einsatzorganisationen hinsichtlich der Herstellung, der Erhaltung und Wartung sowie der Gewährleistung der Sicherheit für die Nutzer der Infrastrukturen führt. Mit dem Projekt 'Research@ZaB - Zentrum am Berg' wird eine für den Hohlraumbau fehlende Untertage-Einrichtung zu Forschungs-, Entwicklungs-, Schulungs- und Trainingszwecken errichtet, die einerseits die Anforderungen der öffentlichen Institutionen erfüllen soll, aber gleichzeitig eine 'Weiterentwicklungsfabrik' für private Unternehmen und für die zuständigen Universitäten darstellt. A letter to the editor is presented related to Teaching Evidence-Based Practice course at Oxford University due to grant by Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SPHA) in November 2014.

The article relates the author's association with the Center of the American West at the University of Colorado in Boulder which was created in 1986. The author notes that her association with the center has transformed her from an individualistic humanities professor primarily focused on her own work into a faculty director and chair of the board of the Center of the American West. According to the author, the works of the Center of the American West represent the realization of her dreams for higher education.

The article presents an analytical study that describes the professional quality of the faculty employed at the major programs at graduate science education centers in the U.S. After collecting the biographical and professional data of 168 school teachers, the study observed that the graduate faculty have common aspects as to age, sex, rank, academic training, past experience, research productivity, and professional involvement. Major concerns currently faced in science education include the stability in number of new staff employed at research centers and the multipurpose coverage of most centers. Thus, development projects and strategies were initiated for practice, expecting advantages from research findings as well as continuing dynamism and viability for both individuals and the profession.

In addition, Wake Forest University also announces that it is now offering master degree programs in French and Spanish education with full tuition fee. Furthermore, the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (NECTFL) announces the publication of a special issue of the NECTFL Review devoted to American Sign Language which focuses on the issue of its status as a foreign language.
