Building a green and healthy economic system and achieving high‐quality economic growth have long been the development goals pursued by the Chinese government. Under the local government competition system, coordinating the relationship between economic growth and ecological sustainability is a decisive factor for China's high‐quality development. As a former state planned economy, China inherited a legacy of setting economic growth targets at various levels of government. This paper analyzes the relationship between economic growth targets and ecological efficiency by using panel data models and spatial econometric techniques. Moreover, the mediating effect model and dynamic threshold effect model are used to study their influence mechanism and the possible nonlinear relationship. The results indicate that there is an inverted U‐shaped relationship between economic growth targets and ecological efficiency. Optimizing industrial structure and R&D investment can improve regional ecological efficiency. The economic growth targets in neighboring regions have a "U"‐shaped relationship with local ecological efficiency. The mechanism test results suggest that economic growth targets affect ecological efficiency by influencing financial development, foreign direct investment, infrastructure investment, environmental regulation, and technological innovation. The impact of economic growth targets on ecological efficiency shows a significant threshold effect when economic growth targets, industrial structure, R&D levels, financial development, foreign direct investment, infrastructure investment, and environmental regulation are at different threshold values. Therefore, to promote regional healthy competition and ecological efficiency, the government should formulate scientific and reasonable economic growth goals and improve the official evaluation system. Incorporating natural resource management and eco‐environmental responsibility into the local government assessment system would change the local governments' intensity of environmental regulation. However, it is unclear whether and how this change is reflected in the firms' environmental strategies. This paper empirically examines the effects and mechanisms of local government regulation on firms' environmental strategies using the quasi‐natural experimental context of the Leading Officials' Natural Resources Accountability Audit (NRAA) in China. The results show that after the implementation of the NRAA, heavily polluting firms are more likely to adopt a source prevention strategy than an end‐of‐pipe governance strategy to cope with the local government's environmental management pressure. Resource support from local governments and increasingly stringent environmental constraints are potential channels for the NRAA to induce firms to adopt a preventive environmental strategy. The environmental governance pressure transmitted to firms differs due to different promotion expectations of local governments. Thus, corporate environmental strategies are related to government promotion expectations. In addition, we apply the Porter hypothesis to the NRAA. Finally, we explore the governance boundaries of the NRAA for different regions, audit intensities, and firms. This paper clarifies the interaction logic between the local governments' environmental constraints and the enterprises' environmental governance behaviors after the implementation of China's pilot policy, enriching research on natural resource asset audits and environmental governance. This paper investigates the effect of the quality of environmental information disclosure of firms on their bank financing and further examines the moderating effect of formal and informal institutions on this effect using China as a laboratory. We find that the quality of environmental information disclosure is positively (negatively) related to the scale (cost) of bank financing. Furthermore, the formal institution (proxied by the official issuance of the Green Credit Guidelines) strengthens the above relationship. Moreover, the informal institution (proxied by bank connection) weakens the association between the quality of environmental information disclosure and bank financing. Our results are valid after addressing the potential endogeneity between environmental information disclosure and bank financing and remain unchanged in various robustness tests. Our findings affirm the decision usefulness of corporate environmental information disclosure that can be used by companies as an effective strategy for obtaining bank financing and the ethical integrity of borrowers to banks as an important group of capital market participants. Based on the Xingke Tiben, this paper assesses the long‐run economic development of China, by constructing a new estimate of male occupational structure during 1734–1898 by sector, sub‐sector pattern, and region. After assessing the source's biases, using this new empirical basis, this paper demonstrates that the national male occupational structure was nearly identical in 1761–70, 1821–30, and 1881–90, suggesting a long‐lasting structural stasis of the national economy, allowing for fluctuations between benchmark dates. Within agriculture, substantial regional differences in labour organisation are revealed. Three distinct models are found: the Northern Regions model features a high usage of wage labour, the Yangtze Valley model presents a high level of tenancy development, and the Southern Regions model displays the highest share of landowners. All three models saw increasing use of wage labour in 1761–1890 and shrinking landownership in 1821–90. At the regional level, the long‐run estimate for Lower Yangtze suggests that the region as a whole stagnated throughout the entire period, but the overall structural stasis hides dynamic, contrasting long‐run economic change between the region's core and peripheral areas. Comparative analysis with England further suggests that the timing of the Great Divergence between China and England took place before 1734, even in the context of the regional difference. Population aging is widely assumed to have detrimental effects on economic development, especially through an increased social security burden. This paper starts with the potential problems of the pension system in China. We investigate how local governments respond to population aging and the impact of population aging on the firm pension contributions using administrative data from the period 2008–2015. We present three findings. First, population aging increases the pension contributions of firms. Second, fiscal pressure is the channel through which population aging affects pension enforcement. This paper provides novel evidence of the moral hazard problem in environmental insurance by investigating the effect of environmental liability insurance (ELI) on firms' environmental performance. Using the staggered adoption of ELI policies in China as a quasi‐natural experiment, we employ a difference‐in‐differences setup based on a comprehensive firm‐level data set. We find that the adoption of ELI policies significantly reduces firms' efforts in treating water pollution. The negative estimate indicates a moral hazard problem and is the opposite of the positive estimates found mainly in studies that focus on US firms. We further find that the negative effect is lessened for firms in strictly supervised regions and for firms with strong environmental awareness. This paper is one of the first to evaluate environmental insurance in developing economies and provides novel evidence on moral hazard in environmental liability insurance markets. Many species occurrence records from specimens and publications are based on regions such as administrative units. These region‐based records are accessible and dependable, and sometimes they are the only available data source; however, few species distribution models accept such data as direct input. In this paper, we present a method named Mikrubi for robust prediction of species distributions from region‐based occurrence data and a Julia package implementing the algorithms. The package 'Mikrubi' requires a map describing disjoint regions, climatic raster layers, and a list of occupied regions. Mikrubi then rasterizes the regions, reduces the environmental dimensionality, parameterizes the niche, and finally estimates the parameters by maximizing the likelihood. In a simulation study, we find Mikrubi effective in accurate estimation in most cases; in a case study of Allium wallichii in China, Mikrubi significantly outperforms four modeling strategies that adapt region‐based records to conventional models according to different principles. The package has many prospective applications in addition to modeling distributions on region‐based records: 1) it accepts supplementary coordinates; 2) it is a new solution for distribution modeling using deviated coordinates; and 3) its probabilistic region‐based outputs have special uses in conservation and biodiversity science. Aim: The aim of the study was to investigate the incidence of sleep disturbance and its relationship with anxiety and depression symptoms, social support and hope in breast cancer patients in China during chemotherapy. Design: A single‐centre cross‐sectional study. Methods: A total of 329 breast cancer patients were selected via convenience sampling method before they began chemotherapy (n = 115), before the 5th week of chemotherapy (n = 117) or 1 month after chemotherapy ended (n = 97) and administered paper‐and‐pencil questionnaires to evaluate sleep quality, depression and anxiety symptoms, social support and hope. Risk factors significantly associated with sleep disturbance during bivariate were incorporated in the multivariate analysis. Bivariate analyses showed that age, menopausal status, depression and anxiety symptoms, emotional/informational support, tangible support, affectionate support, positive social interaction and total support were predictors of sleep disturbance. Results: Sleep disturbance was prevalent in breast cancer patients before (27.0%), during (32.5%) and after (39.2%) chemotherapy, with 37.4%, 41.9% and 52.6% of participants, respectively, reporting sleeping below the recommended 7 h. Only 8.6%–15.5% of patients reported taking sedative‐hypnotic drugs during the chemotherapy. Multivariate analyses found that participants reporting clinically significant anxiety (HADS > 8) were 3.5 times more likely to report sleep disturbance (PSQI > 8) than participants without clinically significant anxiety, and each increment in emotional/informational support was associated with a 9.04% reduced risk of sleep disturbance. Wintertime precipitation, especially snowstorms, significantly impacts people's lives. However, the current forecast skill of wintertime precipitation is still low. Based on data augmentation (DA) and deep learning, we propose a DABU‐Net which improves the Global Forecast System wintertime precipitation forecast over southeastern China. We build three independent models for the forecast lead times of 24, 48, and 72 hr, respectively. After using DABU‐Net, the mean Root Mean Squared Errors (RMSEs) of the wintertime precipitation at the three lead times are reduced by 19.08%, 25.00%, and 22.37%, respectively. The threat scores (TS) are all significantly increased at the thresholds of 1, 5, 10, 15, and 20 mm day−1 for the three lead times. During heavy precipitation days, the RMSEs are decreased by 14% and TS are increased by 7% at the lead times within 48 hr. Therefore, combining DA and deep learning has great prospects in precipitation forecasting. Plain Language Summary: In this paper, we propose a deep learning‐based method to improve the forecast performance of Global Forecast System wintertime precipitation over southeastern China. Due to the imbalanced distribution of precipitation data, we use data from the three other seasons as an augmented data set for wintertime precipitation to train the deep neural network. The results show that the method can reduce the Root Mean Squared Error and improve the TS, a metric of precipitation forecast performance, of the precipitation. In particular, TS at the threshold of 20 mm day−1 are increased by 69.23%, 90.00%, and 100.00% at lead times of 24, 48, and 72 hr. The proposed method performs well during heavy precipitation days at lead times within 48 hr. Combining data augmentation with deep learning provides a successful approach to predicting precipitation. Large‐scale seepage‐faces occur on small‐slope tidal flats. All previous studies assume that the seepage‐face has only one single exit point. Here we show via numerical simulations of tidally‐influenced groundwater flow that, in a two‐dimensional vertical, homogeneous transect of a tidal flat with gentle beach slope of 1‰, multiple seepage‐faces may occur with at most four unsaturated beach surface segments which separate four seepage‐faces. Salinity‐variation induced density‐dependent flow leads to this complex phenomenon. While the seepage‐faces are the groundwater discharging zones on the beach surface, the unsaturated zones are the recharging zones. The whole aquifer beneath the tidal flat is almost occupied by seawater and forms a wall blocking the horizontal seaward discharge of inland fresh groundwater so that inland freshwater discharges mainly occur near the high tide mark. This is in great contrast with the traditional results that inland freshwater discharge occurs mainly near low tide mark. Plain Language Summary: Tidal flat with very gentle‐slopes distributes extensively around the world, for example, the coastline of Bohai, the Yellow Sea of China, and Willapa bay of USA. Due to small slopes, the intertidal zone can be as wide as several kilometers, leading to large‐scale seepage‐faces (saturated beach surface with groundwater efflux) during ebbing and low tides. All previous studies assume that the seepage‐face has only at most one segment, the upper end of which is the exit point of water table and the other end is the intersection point of seawater and beach surface. Here, we found that in a tidal flat with gentle beach slope of 1‰, multiple seepage‐faces may occur with at most 4 unsaturated beach surface segments which separate 4 seepage‐faces during low and rising tides. The locations of these seepage‐faces and adjacent unsaturated zones are quite dynamic due to the complex, dynamic density‐dependent groundwater flow in the aquifer beneath the tidal flat. Seepage‐faces are kind of complex and important boundary for coastal groundwater flow in order to accurately model the groundwater flow and solute transport in intertidal aquifers, the complex nonlinear boundary conditions on the seepage‐faces should be strictly and accurately implemented. Grassland is an important resource for China's economic development and the main economic source of animal husbandry. The identification and classification of grassland forage is an important part of the improvement of forage varieties and the monitoring of germplasm resources, which can fundamentally solve the problems of poor forage quality and low reproduction rate. For the problem of low accuracy of forage identification and classification, the authors put forward a new 3DSECNN model to remove the preprocessing operation and directly study the images. The authors took forage hyperspectral image (HSI) images on the field and built dataset, used 3DSECNN to train the images to improve the classification effect. The outstanding contributions of this paper are: (1) The authors took high‐precision forage HSI images in the field, established a dedicated database of forage HSIs, and expanded the datasets; (2) the process of integrating preprocessing ideas into the network and replacing the traditional method of preprocessing the data and then extracting features; (3) proposing the 3DSECNN model, which adds SENet on the basis of the traditional 3DCNN, strengthens the correlation of the spatial dimension, selects the key features for the classification by calculating the channel weight, inhibits the unimportant information, and achieves the purpose of integrating the preprocessing ideas into the network. The experimental results show the overall accuracy (OA) of 3DSECNN is 94.36%, Precision, Recall, F1‐score, Kappa, and Time also showed good levels. The experimental results prove that the 3DSECNN strengthens the correlation between image channels, enhances the performance ability of features, and provides a new method for the identification and classification research of forage. The development of foreign electricity markets has been relatively complete, while China's electricity market started late and the design of the market mechanism needs to be improved, so the selection of a suitable market model and the design of the market mechanism in hydropower‐rich regions is conducive to the healthy development of the electricity market. While most of the first eight pilot regions in China have entered the long‐period continuous operation stage, and all the second batch of six power spot pilots have started the simulation trial run. However, the construction of power markets in hydropower‐rich regions of China, Sichuan, and Yunnan, still faces multiple problems to be solved, such as ensuring the reliability of medium‐ and long‐term power supply, improving the efficiency of hydropower resources utilization and consumption scale, and maintaining the stability of market prices. In this paper, the authors establish a multi‐scale joint clearing model for different market models considering both long‐term and short‐term operation strategies, and conduct simulations of different market models at different time scales to compare and analyze the optimization results and electricity price fluctuations of different market models. It can stabilize the market price and reasonably reflect the true value of hydropower, and also promote the consumption of clean energy and guarantee the reliability of power supply in the medium and long terms. Finally, suggestions are made for the selection of electricity market models, the security of energy supply and the design of sustainable development mechanisms for hydropower in hydropower‐rich regions such as Yunnan and Sichuan in China, with a view to providing useful references for the construction of China's electricity market. Pollution usually accumulates on the surface of the insulator rapidly on high‐speed electric multiple units (EMUs) under operation condition, and the flashover can occur frequently, especially when the EMUs is running on a high‐altitude line. To solve the problem, this paper proposes the calculation method of insulator withstand voltage under the condition of non‐uniform fouling distribution of high‐speed airflow based on the characteristics of high altitude of Lanzhou‐Xin Line in China, and gives the design and test verification of insulator support insulator for 3500‐km altitude. The design and test verification of the supporting insulator of the rolling stock applicable to 3500 km altitude are presented. The result shows that the insulator should be reliable operation on 4430‐km high altitude area if the insulator structure height is 430 mm, the creep distance is 1250 mm. The anti‐pollution performance is fine in high‐speed wind if the radiuses of the large and small shed of the insulator are 196 and 145 mm, respectively, and the shed spacing is 45 mm. The 50‐Hz withstand voltage of the developed insulator is 131 kV and the light impulse voltage is 228 kV which is suitable for lines running on 3500 m. One of the most dramatic changes in global publishing in the last decade has been the emergence of China. China now has more researchers than the United States, outspends the United States and European Union in research and publishes more scientific papers each year than any other nation in the world. The quality of these papers is also increasing, with more appearing in top‐ranked journals and gaining more citations overall. Despite this success, China has gained an unenviable reputation for research misconduct and geopolitical issues threaten its continuation. Given the impact of China's growing presence on editors, publishers and non‐Chinese authors seeking to publish in the same journals, it is important to understand the reasons, directions and outcomes of these changes, their effect on Chinese scholars and local Chinese journals, and where they might be leading. In this review paper I explore the rise of Chinese scholarship, its influence on global publishing and on Chinese scholars, and how the Chinese government is responding to its new role in global academic publishing. Coal‐fired thermal power must be flexible to enable the grid absorption of inconsistent photovoltaic (PV) and wind power. Combined heat and power (CHP) coal‐fired plants are the primary source for district heating systems. This paper uses a 330 MW subcritical CHP unit as an example to carry out the study. With the promotion of building energy efficiency, when the thermal index is reduced to below 20 W/m2, the low‐load operation of CHP can meet the wind power and PV feed‐in demand and guarantee residential heating without the need for flexibility modification. Meanwhile, more renewable energy generation can reduce carbon emissions from the power supply, further contributing to reducing carbon emissions from buildings. The impacts of different envelope parameters and supplementary heat sources on building carbon emissions are also studied. The conclusion shows that the degree of their impact on carbon emissions ranks as ESMs (energy supply modes) > Factor D (infiltration N50) > Factor A (external wall heat transfer coefficient) > Factor C (window heat transfer coefficient) > Factor B (roof heat transfer coefficient). When the building's heating energy consumption gradually decreases, the distributed heat pump unit can replace the coal‐fired boiler to supply the peak heat load demand. In the future, China's district heating systems can be gradually changed from the current CHP and coal‐fired boilers to CHP and distributed heat pumps. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Great quantities of energy are consumed by heat pump drying systems (HPDSs), such as tobacco drying. It can be reduced by increasing evaporating temperature using waste heat. In this paper, based on the case of two main industries in southwest China (monocrystalline silicon industry and tobacco industry), a novel integrated HPDS especially for the tobacco drying using waste heat from single crystal silicon furnaces is proposed. It is then analyzed from an energetic and economical perspective, investigating the effects of heat exchanger areas on system performance. To simultaneously minimize system CO2 emissions and total annual cost (TAC), a multiobjective optimization using nondominated sorting genetic algorithm is conducted based on the support vector regression model, which has been rarely reported for integrated HPDS improved by waste heat. The final optimum solution on the Pareto optimal front is selected using different decision‐making methods (LINMAP, TOPSIS, and fuzzy decision method), and are compared with the performance of the initial system. The results show that the TOPSIS method is most suitable in three decision‐making methods with a great reduction in mCO2 ${m}_{C{O}_{2}}$ (−12.7%) and nearly unchanged in TAC (+0.5%) compared with the initial solution. And the decreases in mCO2 ${m}_{C{O}_{2}}$ and TAC of the optimized system is as large as 50% and 1/3, compared with traditional vapor compression heat pump dryer without heat recovery of the monocrystal silicon furnace. Recent past has witnessed a great proliferation of sharing economy platforms with great successes, but also many failures on their journey toward institutionalization, that is, their establishment and acceptance in society. To develop insight on factors contributing to this institutionalization process, this paper relies on the literature in institutional entrepreneurship and investigates sharing economy platforms in China, highlighting institutional voids that are encountered, and suggesting ways on how they can be overcome. These insights are derived through a multiple case study approach involving 61 semi‐structured interviews with managers from eight sharing economy platforms (DiDi, Uber China, Huochebang, Yunmanman, OfO, Mobike, Evcard, and Zhida) across four sharing economy industries in China (ride‐sharing, logistics‐sharing, bike‐sharing, and car‐sharing). The findings highlight the importance of exchange and collaboration with stakeholders (allies) in the network, as well as the effective response to emerging issues through the adaptation of the business models. In addition, mergers and acquisitions, and the role of government are identified as critical components in aiding platforms in their progression toward institutionalization. Further cognitive, regulative, and normative factors are found to represent valuable institutional pillars that serve as a fertile foundation throughout the institutionalization process. Overall, the findings provide an intriguing insight into the journey of Chinese sharing economy platforms toward institutionalization. Based on the input--output table and the supplier--customer data disclosed by the listed companies in China, this paper builds China's production network on both industry level and firm level. We describe the characteristics of such network using various network indexes and obtain the following results: first, China's production network on industry level is featured by "small world" and "sparsity," and continues to become sparser. The existence of hub-like sectors makes the influence of sectoral shocks on macro fluctuations increasingly important. Second, China's production network on firm level has three types of structures: horizontal, ring, and star. Automobile and pharmaceutical industries show obvious intra-industry network cluster features. This paper aims to deepen the understanding of production network on both macro and micro levels, and provide a basis for future study on the propagation of external shocks in production networks. The landscape pattern of the Black‐necked Crane (Grus nigricollis) habitat in China changed at different spatial scales and long‐term periods due to natural factors and human activities, and habitat reduction and fragmentation threatened the survival of Black‐necked Cranes. The factors driving the habitat landscape pattern and individual population changes of Black‐necked Cranes remain to be studied. In this paper, based on remote sensing data of land use from 1980 to 2020, the changes in landscape pattern and fragmentation of the Black‐necked Crane habitat in China over 40 years were analyzed from two different spatial scales using the land cover transfer matrix and landscape index. The correlation between landscape and Black‐necked Crane individual population was analyzed. The most obvious observations were as follows: (1) Although transformation between landscapes occurred to varying degrees, the area of wetlands and arable land in the breeding and the wintering areas (net) increased significantly from 1980 to 2020. (2) Habitat fragmentation existed in the breeding and the wintering area and was more obvious in the wintering area. (3) The number of individuals of Black‐necked Cranes increased period by period, and habitat fragmentation did not inhibit their population growth. (4) The number of individuals of Black‐necked Crane was closely related to the wetland and arable land. The increasing area of wetlands and arable and the increasing landscape shape complexity all contributed to the growth of the individual population. The results also suggested that the number of individuals of Black‐necked Crane was not threatened by the expanding arable land in China, and they might benefit from arable landscapes. This paper shows a systematic literature review using HistCiteTM in the context of factor market misallocation in China. Four key research streams are identified: government intervention; misallocation explanation; market distortion and regional factor distortion. Further, the paper identifies three emerging research streams: endogeneity; legislation relating to factors of production; and knowledge management. Factor markets misallocation has been a lasting problem since the market‐oriented reform implemented by the Chinese Government. Both long‐term but small number of national stations and short‐term but large number of regional stations have been frequently used to study the extreme hourly precipitation (EXHP) in China. However, few studies focus on the differences of the two for revealing the features of EXHP. In this study, the characteristics of EXHP in Zhejiang Province are investigated using three rainfall data sets at three threshold criteria. The comparison between different data sets shows that increasing the station density can better reflect the climatic spatial distribution of EXHP thresholds if long‐term data is absent. The majority of EXHP can be classified into four weather types: the southwesterly wind type (30.7%–48.5%), the trough type (12.2%–23.6%), the tropical cyclone (TC) type (11.4%–17.5%) and the easterly wind type (4.9%–17.9%). The selection of stations is more sensitive to the proportions of the four weather types than the statistical years and threshold criteria. The monthly and diurnal variations of EXHP, as well as their differences revealed by the three data sets, are varied by weather type. Only using national stations cannot distinguish the spatial differences between the TC type and the easterly wind type, and there is an underestimation for southwesterly wind type and trough type in the mountainous area of southwest Zhejiang. The statistical year and station height are the main reasons for the differences in the duration of EXHP events calculated by different data sets, with the TC type having the largest effect and the southwesterly wind type the smallest. Plain Language Summary: Station data is the most common and reliable data for studying the characteristics of precipitation in China. There are two sources of station data available, that is, national station data with long time series but sparse and regional stations with short time series but numerous. However, few studies have compared the differences between these two sources of data for revealing the characteristics of extreme hourly precipitation (EXHP). In this study, the possible impact of different data sets for revealing the characteristics of EXHP under four weather types are investigated in Zhejiang Province. Zhejiang is located on the southeast coast of China with a long coastline and many mountains. Results suggest that increasing the station density can better reflect the spatial distribution of the EXHP thresholds if long‐term data is absent. EXHP events with strong synoptic‐scale forcing are more sensitive to the results obtained by different data sets. As the national stations are mostly located in the plains, the high frequency centers of EXHP are biased in each weather type if only using national stations, especially in southwest Zhejiang and near the coast. In the search for precursors to earthquakes, correlation has been found between geochemical characteristics of soil gases and seismic activity. In this paper we present evidence that seismic waves can trigger emission of soil radon (Rn) and carbon dioxide (CO2). An active experiment was performed in two fault zones in China, the Annighe fault in Sichuan province and the Xiadian fault in Heibei province. An active seismic source was used to generate seismic waves at 10 m depth in wells within bedrock. Rn and CO2 detectors were placed around the wells at a distance of ∼1 m for observing the effects of the seismic waves on the emission of the gases. The observations confirm that the seismic waves have a significant and direct effect on the concentration and flux of soil radon and carbon dioxide. When the seismic events were triggered, the observed concentrations of Rn and CO2 immediately increased and reached peak values within 5–50 min and 30–60 min, with corresponding increases of Rn and CO2 concentrations by 10.5%–238.7% and 3.1%–54.1%, respectively. The measured concentrations and flux of CO2 and Rn after the passage of the seismic waves showed strong correlation, confirming the suggestion that CO2 is the carrier gas for Rn. To the best of our knowledge this is the first direct, in‐situ measurement of gas emission caused by the passage of seismic waves and provides important constraints for better understanding of geochemical earthquake precursors. To study the status quo of research on geological hazards in the Central China Orogen and its geological distribution quantitatively, we used bibliometric methods and deeply analysed the numbers, the authors and research institutions involved, and the distribution and changes of the research contents of papers on geological hazards published from 1962 to 2016. This review involved 26,677 documents, 26,339 authors, and 11,095 research institutions. The results showed that the study of geological hazards has significant time‐domain characteristics. In this field, the greatest number of papers was published in Recent Developments in World Seismology and the Chinese Journal of Geophysics–Chinese Edition, with 456 and 159 papers, respectively. As shown by an analysis of keywords, the current research focuses mainly on the evaluation, distribution characteristics, development regularity, detection and prediction, and prevention and control of geological hazards. The conclusions find that the authors of foreign‐published papers are mostly Chinese researchers, which cannot reflect the status quo of foreign research in this field to a certain extent. This paper examines the impact of internal information quality (IIQ) on corporate cash holdings in China. Employing two widely used IIQ measures (i.e., the earnings announcement speed and the absence of financial restatements), we show a significant and negative association between IIQ and corporate cash holdings. This negative relation is concentrated among complex firms (i.e., firms with more business segments), non‐state‐owned firms, and firms with poor corporate governance. Our findings are valid after we consider endogeneity issues. Objectives: The global coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) pandemic has not been well controlled, and vaccination could be an effective way to prevent this pandemic. By accommodating attribute nonattendance (ANA) in a discrete choice experiment (DCE), this paper aimed to examine Chinese public preferences and willingness to pay (WTP) for COVID‐19 vaccine attributes, especially the influence of ANA on the estimated results. Methods: A DCE was designed with four attributes: effectiveness, protection period, adverse reactions and price. A random parameter logit model with an error component (RPL‐EC) was used to analyse the heterogeneity of respondents' preferences for COVID‐19 vaccine attributes. Two equality constraint latent class (ECLC) models were used to consider the influence of ANA on the estimated results in which the ECLC‐homogeneity model considered only ANA and the ECLC‐heterogeneity model considered both ANA and preference heterogeneity. Results: Data from 1,576 samples were included in the analyses. Effectiveness had the highest relative importance, followed by adverse reactions and protection period, which were determined by the attributes and levels presented in this study. The ECLC‐heterogeneity model improved the goodness of fit of the model and obtained a lower probability of ANA. In the ECLC‐heterogeneity model, only a small number of respondents (29.09%) considered all attributes, and price was the most easily ignored attribute (64.23%). Compared with the RPL‐EC model, the ECLC‐homogeneity model obtained lower WTPs for COVID‐19 vaccine attributes, and the ECLC‐heterogeneity model obtained mixed WTP results. In the ECLC‐heterogeneity model, preference group 1 obtained higher WTPs, and preference groups 2 and 3 obtained lower WTPs. Conclusions: The RPL‐EC, ECLC‐homogeneity and ECLC‐heterogeneity models obtained inconsistent WTPs for COVID‐19 vaccine attributes. The study found that the results of the ECLC‐heterogeneity model considering both ANA and preference heterogeneity may be more plausible because ANA and low preference may be confused in the ECLC‐homogeneity model and the RPL‐EC model. The results showed that the probability of ANA was still high in the ECLC‐heterogeneity model, although it was lower than that in the ECLC‐homogeneity model. Therefore, in future research on DCE (such as the field of vaccines), ANA should be considered as an essential issue. More than 50 earthquakes occurred in the Luding region, including a 6.8‐magnitude earthquake on September 5, 2022, which induced huge amounts of geological disasters. As the main triggered factors for the geological disasters, the vegetation, precipitation and temperature show regular changes on the time axis. Thus, this paper based on the spatial–temporal evolution of the precipitation, temperature and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), focuses on the susceptibility of the Luding area using the weighted information content method (ICM) and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) for the post‐earthquake regional planning and reconstruction. In the Luding area, it was found that there were 18 debris flow gullies, and 470 geological disasters scattered in the debris flow gullies. The NDVI of the study area has been declining in recent years, with only about 12% of the NDVI increasing from 2015 to 2020. From 2011 to 2015, the annual cumulative precipitation has been dropping overall, while the July average temperature has increasing quadratic functions after decreasing trend. Furthermore, the studied area's geological hazards susceptibility was classified into five categories, with extremely low susceptibility accounting for 5.82%, low susceptibility accounting for 13.61%, moderate susceptibility accounting for 38.54%, high susceptibility accounting for 39.96% and extremely high susceptibility accounting for 2.08%. The geological disasters in moderate, high and extremely high susceptibility accounted for approximately 95.08%, and the covered area of geological disasters in moderate, high and extremely high susceptibility accounted for 88.06%. Through the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve of the model verification found the AUC = 0.743. The Dunhuang Basin, situated in western China along the Altyn Tagh Fault (ATF) zone, intersects the Tethys and Paleo‐Asian Ocean tectonic domains. Influenced by both the ATF system and the far‐field effects of the Qiangtang‐Lhasa‐Eurasia collision during the Mesozoic, the mechanism of the Jurassic sedimentary migration of the basin in response to tectonic movements is unclear so far. The paper uses a comprehensive approach, including field geological surveys, lithologic and lithofacies discern, stratigraphic relationships analysis and 2D seismic profile interpretation, to examine the distribution of Jurassic residual strata in the basin. The comprehensive results of our study suggest that the Dunhuang Basin exists as an isolated block with unique tectonic and sedimentary evolution characteristics. In the Early Jurassic, the Dunhuang Basin underwent initial rifting, leading to the formation of small segmented intermontane sags. This phase was marked by the coarse particle sedimentary system of alluvial fans and braided rivers, represented the near source rapid deposition in the initial formation period of the basin. Stratigraphic distribution was primarily influenced by pre‐Jurassic basement topography and was not significantly constrained by faulting during this period. The formation of these isolated discontinuous small intermontane sags indicates the segmented activities of the ATF in the Early Jurassic period. In the Middle Jurassic period, influenced by the ATF dextral strike‐slip faulting, sedimentation extended eastward and the depocenter migrated clockwise compared with the distribution of the Middle Jurassic strata within the Dunhuang Basin. This period witnessed the development of coal measure strata at the basin's margins and lacustrine fine‐grained clastic deposition in the centre. The segmented fracture of the ATF gradually initiated a unified dextral strike‐slip tectonic movement. In the Late Jurassic period, sedimentary strata were locally present in the Wanyao Sag but absent in other sags. The depocenter migrated counterclockwise compared with the distribution of Middle Jurassic strata within the Dunhuang Basin, due to regional uplift accompanied by the ATF sinistral strike‐slip faulting caused by the collision between the Lhasa Block and the Eurasia Plate. The depocenter migration of the Dunhuang Basin constrained within the ATF system from the Early to Middle and Late Jurassic can be attributed to the transition of the ATF strike‐slip faulting in context of the stress relaxation and compression between the collision of the Qiangtang and Lhasa blocks to the Eurasia Plate, respectively. Carbon peaking and carbon neutrality will be important policies to constrain China's economic and social development in the future. Based on the theory of computable general equilibrium, CGE model of carbon emission was constructed in this paper to simulate the influence of different scenarios of carbon emission reduction on economic and social development. The major contribution is to subdivide the energy sector according to primary energy and secondary energy, and construct the macro SAM table and micro SAM table of 21 energy sectors in 2017 to quantitatively simulate the impact of carbon emission reduction policies on China's economy and society, and put forward some policy suggestions based on this. Based on social capital theory, this paper aims to investigate the impact of member enterprises of alien merchant chambers on enterprise innovation, within A‐share listed companies on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges of China from 2010 to 2020. Additionally, the study seeks to explore the role played by social capital resulting from participation in these alien merchant chambers. Furthermore, we delve into the moderating effects of the number of alien merchant chambers and the degree of marketization in the enterprise's location. Moreover, we analyze the influence of heterogeneity in firm ownership and firm type. Our findings reveal that member enterprises of alien merchant chambers can increase their social capital and consequently promoting innovation; both the quantity of alien merchant chambers and the level of marketization in an enterprise's location positively influence this enhancement. Furthermore, the impact of state‐owned enterprises and non‐high‐tech enterprises on enterprise innovation, following their engagement with alien merchant chambers, surpasses that of non‐state‐owned enterprises and high‐tech enterprises. This research bridges the gap in understanding the corporate governance implications of alien merchant chambers, provides empirical evidence concerning Chinese alien merchant chambers, and addresses inquiries regarding the influence of merchant chambers' social capital. Additionally, it proposes a novel approach for listed companies to overcome resource constraints and to collaboratively pursue development, especially in light of the challenges posed by the COVID‐19 pandemic. In recent years, as China's economy has grown at a rapid pace and social welfare has increased dramatically, environmental issues have become increasingly prominent. Whether companies undertaking digital transformation will improve the environmental performance has drawn the focus of scholars. For this reason, this paper uses the microfirm data of China's manufacturing industry from 2011 to 2020 to explore the relationship between corporate digital transformation (CDT), market competition, and environmental performance, as well as its external mechanism. The study has found that in the analysis of environmental performance measured by firms' pollution emissions, the improvement of the level of CDT shows a nonlinear trajectory in its impact on environmental performance. With a highly centralized market environment, the impact of CDT on environmental performance is further diminished. By analyzing the variability of the degree of market competition, the CDT can promote the environmental performance by enhancing market competition (reducing market concentration). In addition, from the perspective of source reduction, the CDT also advances the environmental performance. The research conclusions contribute to the study of environmental performance, which can guide the transformation from end‐of‐pipe pollutant emissions to source reduction to promote the sustainable development of enterprises. This paper studies the impact of collectivization on patricide in China during the Cultural Revolution. From 1955 to 1957, nearly 96 per cent of farmers were organized into communes. Consequently, fathers lost control over family wealth. We propose that this shift decreased fathers' bargaining power over their adult sons, which might increase family conflicts. On the basis of a novel dataset, we find that the speed of collectivization significantly increased patricide, and the result is robust by employing ruggedness to instrumenting for the speed of collectivization. Using data from the 2015 China Household Financial Survey (CHFS) this paper examines the effect of culture on the gender gap in financial literacy. We exploit geographical differences in culture in China, comparing outcomes between rural and urban areas and between areas in the east and west (Shanghai and Chongqing). Using the Blinder‐Oaxaca decomposition we show that, nationally, the gender gap in financial literacy is entirely the product of differences in the way men and women acquire financial literacy. It is a result consistent with cultural effects. When considering just women in Shanghai and Chongqing we observe a raw financial literacy differential of 13% (favoring Shanghai). This gap is also the product of differences in the way financial literacy is acquired. The high incidence of adolescent depression has become the focus of social and academic attention. Exercise is an important method to improve adolescent depression, but its intervention effect is still controversial. This study first compares and analyzes the relevant studies at home and abroad and finds that exercise prescription in adolescent depression intervention is not accurate enough. A meta‐analysis was conducted to develop a precise exercise intervention strategy for adolescent depression. Firstly, this thesis identified how to optimize five elements (exercise intensity, exercise frequency, exercise time, exercise cycle, and exercise type) of exercise prescription to improve depression in adolescents. This is the problem. Furthermore, the concept of "precision exercise" was proposed, and a precision exercise intervention strategy (moderate‐intensity aerobic exercise for 8–10 weeks, 3 times/week, 45–50 min/time) was constructed to improve adolescent depression. This paper also presents research that strengthens the cross‐sectional research and empirical research on adolescent depression and establishes a precision exercise prescription database for adolescent depression in China. In conclusion, this study not only puts forward the concept of "precision exercise" but also constructs a precision exercise intervention strategy for adolescent depression, which has important theoretical and practical significance for improving the high incidence of adolescent depression. Environmental sustainability has gained significant importance for organizations, highlighting the crucial role of business leaders in addressing environmental degradation. However, the connection between chief executive officer (CEO) characteristics and environmental sustainability remains understudied in academic literature. Understanding this relationship is crucial, considering the significance of environmental sustainability in organizational strategies. This paper presents the first systematic literature review (SLR) on this topic, aiming to identify gaps and opportunities for future research. The SLR analysed 139 studies on the CEO–environmental sustainability relationship. The findings indicate a recent increase in research activity, particularly peaking in 2022 and focusing on China and the United States. Most studies employed upper echelons theory and examined the influence of CEO demographic characteristics on environmental performance. However, less attention has been given to CEO psychological traits, such as personality and ethical leadership, and environmental disclosure. Furthermore, qualitative aspects of environmental disclosure, including reporting tone, readability and specificity, have received less attention. The findings offer valuable insights for academics, practitioners and policymakers. Recommendations for future research include exploring the impact of CEO psychological traits and environmental disclosure on a firm's environmental sustainability. Additionally, studying cross‐country and cross‐industry differences in this relationship is encouraged. This study makes a significant contribution to the field by shedding light on the crucial and relevant topic of environmental sustainability and its association with CEO characteristics, providing valuable insights to guide future research and inform decision‐makers. Using medical insurance (MI) to shift employees' health risks outside is an important risk management tool for modern firms. Existing studies usually treat firms' contributions to employees' MI only as a labor cost. However, contributing to MI also has indirect benefits, such as improved labor productivity and R&D innovation, which consequently increase corporate value. This paper studies the impact of firms' MI contributions for employees on corporate value, using social insurance collection system reform in China as a natural experiment. Results show that, first, the reform increases firms' contributions to employees' MI funds. Second, the increase has a positive impact on firms' market‐to‐book ratio. These effects can be explained by enhanced labor productivity, firm efficiency, and innovation. Heterogeneity analysis suggests that the effects are more pronounced for firms in high R&D industries, areas with high pollution, or areas with better medical and labor supplies. Continuous improvement of technological innovation ability, adjustment of the development strategy, and enhancement of operational performance are of great theoretical and practical significance for logistics enterprises. This paper aims to analyze and evaluate the innovation efficiency of the logistics industry. The study utilizes the static three‐stage DEA model and the dynamic Malmquist index model, considering a total of 12 indicators related to innovation input, output, and environmental variables. A dataset of 2940 entries from 49 listed logistics enterprises from 2017 to 2021 was calculated. The analysis provides insights into the innovation efficiency of logistics enterprises from a static perspective and the innovation total factor productivity from a dynamic perspective and decomposition terms. Based on the analysis of environmental variables by the SFA model, it was found that DEA inefficiency is the combined result of environmental factors and management inefficiency. Environmental variables have both positive and negative effects on innovation. The improvement of the economic development level will lead to excess R&D investment. Increased government simple fund subsidies are not conducive to the efficient allocation of innovation resources within enterprises. The expansion of enterprise scale will increase R&D personnel and investment in fixed assets. A thriving technology market can encourage enterprises to improve their own conversion rate of scientific and technological output and give full play to their innovation ability. The dynamic Malmquist model analysis reveals a recution in the overall innovation efficiency of listed logistics enterprises over 5 years. The changes in total factor productivity and technological progress efficiency of all listed logistics enterprises are synchronized, with most enterprises exhibiting higher technological progress efficiency compared to comprehensive technical efficiency. This paper investigates the effects of institutional investor horizons on investment efficiency in China. By analysing 26,831 firm‐year observations from Chinese listed companies, we find that long‐term (short‐term) institutional ownership is negatively (positively) associated with the level of inefficient investments. A battery of robustness tests indicates causality. Further analyses reveal that the rise in environmental uncertainty and information asymmetry are transmission channels for increased inefficient investments. Moreover, we find that the single controlling shareholder and state owner can curb the management myopia induced by short‐term institutional investors while they do not impede the monitoring effort of long‐term institutional investors. The paper investigates how unrestricted global capitalism and a Confucian culture of hierarchy and obedience combine to create a form of modern slavery in China. The cases cited involve semi‐structured interviews with 11 managers and 19 workers working in the hospitality and manufacturing sectors. The interviews are analysed to determine how managers use controls to exploit power/distance, high levels of insecurity, and unenforced labour rights to impose harsh working conditions. Prior research has examined what mechanisms are imposed in a society that retains a Confucian legacy of obedience but not 'how' they are imposed in a way that constitutes a form of modern slavery. Abnormal heating of composite insulators on ultra‐high voltage (UHV) transmission lines is widespread under high humidity and heat in southern China. The infrared imaging technology can be used of quickly and effectively detect insulators with abnormal heating and determine their defect types. However, it may cause misjudgement when the infrared images are not clear. A super‐resolution reconstruction method of infrared images of composite insulators with abnormal heating based on improved super‐resolution generative adversarial networks (SRGAN) is proposed in this paper, and the dense residual network in SRGAN is perfected by introducing the residual channel attention (ResCA). This method overcomes the problems that the resolution of images reconstructed by traditional methods is not significantly improved, and images are too smooth, and the edge details are easily lost. Compared with the traditional methods, the five reference‐free image quality evaluation indexes of the image reconstructed by the improved SRGAN are increased by −0.73% to 63.84%. Further the effectiveness and superiority of the improved SRGAN are verified by comparing the changes in the distribution of grey values of infrared images before and after reconstruction. China's innovation policies for artificial intelligence (AI) are widely considered as having made a remarkable achievement, which offers us a pertinent case to explore how to design and implement an effective innovation policy mix for an emerging technology. On the basis of literature on the characteristics of emerging technologies and the typology of innovation policy, this paper proposes a four‐dimensional framework. It then conducts a categorical principal component analysis and a k‐prototype cluster analysis by using data on 116 China's AI policy programmes from 2009 to 2021, which show that the characteristics of the innovation policy mix can be captured by the four dimensions. Furthermore, our analysis indicates that China's AI innovation policy mix evolves following the changing characteristics of AI technology over time. The China Energy Administration has issued policies to encourage energy storage to participate in the electric auxiliary service market, which will provide ideas for electric vehicle charging stations (EVCSs) to collectively participate in peak‐regulation and frequency modulation (FM). Taking into account the benefits of EVs participating in peak‐regulation and FM, this paper studies expansion planning for EVCSs. First, the orderly scheduling strategy of EVs under vehicle‐to‐grid (V2G) technology is established in this paper. And a peak regulation method is proposed to maximize the economic benefits of charging and discharging during peak and valley periods. Second, based on the temporal and spatial prediction model of EV charging demand, the expansion planning model of EVCSs is constructed considering the benefits of peak‐regulation and FM. Aiming at minimizing the comprehensive annual social cost of charging stations, the expansion site selection and capacity scheme of EVCSs are obtained. Finally, taking the 24 nodes in Xiangzhou District of Zhuhai City as an example, the location and capacity of the final annual expansion plan are obtained. And the influence of main control parameters on the results of the whole model and method is analysed in detail, the feasibility and effectiveness of the whole model and method are verified. The just‐in‐time (JIT) system has drawn wide concern as a method of cost management. This paper investigates the effect of JIT adoption on corporate innovation. Using unique data manually collected of Chinese listed firms from 2007 to 2019, we find JIT adoption can promote innovation investment and output. Further evidence shows that customer and supplier concentration as well as market monopoly have moderate effect on the relationship of JIT adoption and corporate innovation. This paper makes a contribution to literature by identifying the positive effect of JIT on corporate innovation and provide strong convincing evidence to support the adoption of JIT. In the era of big data, strategy is an indicator that determines business growth and directly guides the sustainable development of business. This paper aims to study the construction of the SWOT (S stands for strength, W stands for weakness, O stands for opportunity, and T stands for threat.) structure analysis model of e‐commerce tourism development strategy based on the experience of big data. Through empirical analysis, it explores the factors that affect the development strategy of e‐commerce business, and proposes practical measures and development directions. Based on big data theory, this paper uses SWOT analysis to analyze the e‐commerce development strategy of China's rural tourism cooperatives in detail, and uses the analytic hierarchy process to analyze the green development direction of e‐commerce tourism enterprises. The experimental results of this paper show that the order of enterprise development strategy selection in the context of big data for tourism electronics is: SO strategy, ST strategy, WO strategy and WT strategy.
