Aged people with chronic diseases, poor self-perceived health, and an inability to walk very far in six minutes are likely to drop out of an exercise program. This was the conclusion of researchers who analyzed risk factors for dropping out of a community exercise program among 155 elderly people.

Abstract

A study was conducted to determine the extent to which healthcare providers address evidence-based fall risk factors in older patients after exposure to an educational intervention and to determine barriers encountered when these healthcare providers intervene with or refer older patients with identified fall-risk factors. The results pinpointed specific healthcare provider groups with scope for improvement in assessment and management of specific risk factors.
