Abstract To address the issues of node interaction power overrun and high carbon emissions that may arise during distributed optimization in multi‐energy parks (MEPs), this paper proposes a distributed low‐carbon and economic operation method for multi‐energy parks based on a cloud platform that considers network transmission capacity.The proposed method achieves maximun profit by designing a two layer collaborative architecture for distributed optimization operations. At the top level, cloud platform services are utilized to build a model for checking network transport capacity and carbon emission quotas, optimizing network node over‐limit inspection . The bottom layer constructs a distributed optimization model for multi‐energy complementation in each park, taking into account the information privacy and individual interests of each multi‐energy park. An improved alternating direction multiplier method (ADMM) is proposed to effectively solve the two‐layer framework. The case studies show that the distributed optimization method under cloud platform services proposed in this paper can achieve maximum revenue for integrated energy service provider while ensuring the safe operation of multi‐energy parks, and reasonably allocate the benefits of collaborative operation among various parks while promoting carbon emission reduction.

Abstract Objectives This study investigates curcumin's neuroprotective role and its potential in promoting neurogenesis in progenitor cells within the brain. Notably, curcumin's antioxidant properties have been implicated in Alzheimer's disease treatment. However, the association between curcumin's antioxidative effects and its impact on neural stem cells (NSCs) remains to be elucidated. Methods C17.2 neural stem cells were utilized as a model to simulate oxidative stress, induced by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). We quantified the levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), and intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), alongside the gene expression of SOD1 and SOD2, to assess intracellular oxidative stress. Additionally, Western blot analysis was conducted to measure the expressions of LC3‐II, Beclin‐1, and phosphorylated ERK (p‐ERK), thereby evaluating autophagy and ERK signaling pathway activation. Results Treatment with curcumin resulted in a reduction of MDA and ROS levels, suggesting a protective effect on NSCs against oxidative damage induced by H2O2. Furthermore, a decrease in the relative expressions of LC3‐II, Beclin‐1, and p‐ERK was observed post‐curcumin treatment. Conclusions The findings suggest that curcumin may confer protection against oxidative stress by attenuating autophagy and deactivating the ERK1/2 signaling pathways, which could contribute to therapeutic strategies for Alzheimer's disease.

Abstract Simultaneous electromagnetic field probing system (SEMPS) has been popular in recent years. Herein, a simultaneous electromagnetic field probing system with Y‐shaped separation detection structure (SEMPS Y) is first proposed, in which the electric field probing region and the magnetic field probing region of the probe are separated by completely covering the shield along the loop and adding a pin‐shaped metal wire to capture the electric field, which are not the same as the classical dual probe structure. Combined with the non‐rotating asymmetric calibration method (NRACM), a 4‐port vector network analyser (VNA) and a highly symmetric grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW) calibrator are used to solve the calibration matrix of the asymmetric SEMPS Y. The high symmetry GCPW calibrator is used to generate the standard electromagnetic field for calibration. The results of standing wave measurements show that the SEMPS Y can achieve ultrawideband electromagnetic field measurement of up to 20 GHz. Based on near‐field scanning measurements, SEMP Y can obtain results consistent with the calculation. In addition, when the probe is rotated 90° to invalidate the H‐field input, the decoupling curves of E‐field and H‐field are measured. Results show that the separation detection structure can effectively solve the cross‐coupling problem.

Abstract Hydrogel nanophotonic devices exhibit attractive tunable capabilities in structural coloration and optical display. However, current hydrogel‐based tunable strategies are mostly based on a single physical mechanism, and it remains a challenge to merge multiple mechanisms for active devices with integrated functionalities. Here, a hydrogel metagrating combining Fabry‐Pérot (FP) resonance and diffraction effects is proposed for achieving tunable absorption and dynamic wavelength‐selective beam steering. Through exploiting hydrogel shrinkage under electron‐beam exposure, a hydrogel nanocavity composed of Ag/Hydrogel/Ag three‐layer films can be directly printed with arbitrary patterns, enabling the direct‐pattering technique of metagrating. The hydrogel nanocavity performs as an FP‐type absorber, and its absorption peak rapidly shifts with humidity variation due to the hydrogel layer scaling. The response speed is 150 nm. It is further demonstrated that the hydrogel metagrating exclusively deflects light at the resonance wavelength, and its operating wavelength can be actively switched by regulating ambient humidity. The proposed tunable hydrogel metagrating can promote new technologies of tunable metasurfaces for optical filtering, gas sensing, and optical imaging.

Abstract Progranulin (PGRN) plays a critical role in bronchial asthma and the function of various immune cells. However, the mechanisms by which PGRN influences B‐cell receptor (BCR) signaling and immunoglobulin E(IgE) production are not fully understood. The study aimed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms through which PGRN affects BCR signaling, B‐cell differentiation, and IgE production. A PGRN knockout mouse model, along with techniques including flow cytometry, the creation of a bone marrow chimeric mouse model, total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF), and Western blot (WB) analysis is employed, to investigate the link between PGRN and various aspects of B‐cell biology. It is discovered that the absence of PGRN in mice alters peripheral B‐cell subpopulations, promotes IgE class switching in a cell‐intrinsic manner, and affects B‐cell subpopulations. Additionally, PGRN modulates B‐cell functions by regulating BCR signaling pathways, metabolic processes, and the actin cytoskeleton during early B‐cell activation. Significantly, PGRN deficiency results in diminished production of NP‐specific antibodies. Moreover, it is found that PGRN inhibits B‐cell activation and IgE production through the PGRN‐IFITM3‐STAT1 signaling pathway. The findings provide new strategies for the targeted treatment of bronchial asthma, highlighting the crucial role of PGRN in B‐cell signaling and IgE production.

Abstract Background Growth differentiation factor‐15 (GDF‐15) is a stress response protein and is related to cardiovascular diseases (CVD). This study aimed to investigate the association between GDF‐15 and pre‐eclampsia (PE). Method The study involved 299 pregnant women, out of which 236 had normal pregnancies, while 63 participants had PE. Maternal serum levels of GDF‐15 were measured by using enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay kits and then translated into multiple of median (MOM) to avoid the influence of gestational week at blood sampling. Logistic models were performed to estimate the association between GDF‐15 MOM and PE, presenting as odd ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Abstract Microsatellite‐stable colorectal cancer (MSS‐CRC) exhibits resistance to programmed cell death protein‐1 (PD‐1) therapy. Improving the infiltration and tumor recognition of cytotoxic T‐lymphocytes (CTLs) is a promising strategy, but it encounters huge challenges from drug delivery and mechanisms aspects. Here, a zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) coated with apoptotic body membranes derived from MSS‐CRC cells is engineered for the co‐delivery of ginsenoside Rg1 (Rg1) and atractylenolide‐I (Att) to MSS‐CRC, named as Ab@Rg1/Att‐ZIF. This system is selectively engulfed by Ly‐6C+ monocytes during blood circulation and utilizes a “hitchhiking” mechanism to migrate toward the core of MSS‐CRC. Ab@Rg1/Att‐ZIF undergoes rapid disassembly in the tumor, released Rg1 promotes the processing and transportation of tumor antigens in dendritic cells (DCs), enhancing their maturation. Meanwhile, Att enhances the activity of the 26S proteasome complex in tumor cells, leading to increased expression of major histocompatibility complex class‐I (MHC‐I). These coordinated actions enhance the infiltration and recognition of CTLs in the center of MSS‐CRC, significantly improving the tumor inhibition of PD‐1 treatment from ≈5% to ≈69%. This innovative design, involving inflammation‐guided precise drug co‐delivery and a rational combination, achieves synergistic engineering of the tumor microenvironment, providing a novel strategy for successful PD‐1 treatment of MSS‐CRC.

Abstract Tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) greatly contribute to immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) resistance of cancer. However, its underlying mechanisms and whether TAMs can be promising targets to overcome ICI resistance remain to be unveiled. Through integrative analysis of immune multiomics data and single‐cell RNA‐seq data (iMOS) in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), lymphotoxin β receptor (LTBR) is identified as a potential immune checkpoint of TAMs, whose high expression, duplication, and low methylation are correlated with unfavorable prognosis. Immunofluorescence staining shows that the infiltration of LTBR+ TAMs is associated with LUAD stages, immunotherapy failure, and poor prognosis. Mechanistically, LTΒR maintains immunosuppressive activity and M2 phenotype of TAMs by noncanonical nuclear factor kappa B and Wnt/β‐catenin signaling pathways. Macrophage‐specific knockout of LTBR hinders tumor growth and prolongs survival time via blocking TAM immunosuppressive activity and M2 phenotype. Moreover, TAM‐targeted delivery of LTΒR small interfering RNA improves the therapeutic effect of ICI via reversing TAM‐mediated immunosuppression, such as boosting cytotoxic CD8+ T cells and inhibiting granulocytic myeloid‐derived suppressor cells infiltration. Taken together, we bring forth an immune checkpoint discovery pipeline iMOS, identify LTBR as a novel immune checkpoint of TAMs, and propose a new immunotherapy strategy by targeting LTBR+ TAMs.

Abstract Rapid advancements in electronic devices yield an urgent demand for high‐performance electronic packaging materials with high thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion, and great mechanical properties. However, it is a great challenge for current design philosophies to fulfill all the requirements simultaneously. Here, an effective strategy is proposed for significantly promoting the thermal conductivity and machinability of negative thermal expansion alloy (Zr,Nb)Fe2 through eutectic precipitation of copper networks. The eutectic dual‐phase alloy exhibits an isotropic chips‐matched thermal expansion coefficient and a thermal conductivity enhancement exceeding 200% compared with (Zr,Nb)Fe2, along with an ultimate compressive strength of 550 MPa. The addition of copper reorganizes the composition of (Zr,Nb)Fe2, which smooths the magnetic transition and shifts it toward higher temperature, resulting in linear low thermal expansion in a wide temperature range. The highly fine eutectic copper lamellae construct high thermal conductivity networks within (Zr,Nb)Fe2, serving as highways for heat transfer electrons and phonons. The in situ forming of eutectic copper lamellae also facilitates the mechanical properties by enhancing interfacial bonding and bearing additional stress after yielding of (Zr,Nb)Fe2. This work provides a novel strategy for promoting thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of negative thermal expansion alloys via eutectic precipitation of copper networks.

Abstract Background The association between inflammatory score, insulin resistance (IR), and metabolic‐associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is inconclusive. Objective The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between the inflammatory score and MAFLD and investigate the potential mediating effect of IR (evaluated by triglyceride‐glucose index) in this association. Methods Calculating inflammatory score was performed based on white blood cells and high‐sensitivity C‐reactive protein. The association between the inflammatory score and MAFLD was evaluated based on the weighted multifactor logistic regression model. Restricted cubic splines (RCS) were used to visualize the dose–response relationship between the inflammatory score and MAFLD. We also conducted a mediation analysis to assess the extent to which IR mediates this association. Results Among the 1090 participants, 563 were ultimately diagnosed with MAFLD. Multivariate logistic regression results indicated a close positive association between inflammatory score and MAFLD (odds ratio = 1.235, 95% confidence interval 1.069–1.427, p = .007). The RCS results indicated a linear dose–response relationship between the inflammatory score and the risk of MAFLD after adjusting for potential confounding factors. Furthermore, the mediation analysis results showed that IR partially mediated the association between the inflammatory score and MAFLD (percent mediation = 33%). Conclusion Our research results indicate that the inflammatory score is positively associated with the risk of MAFLD, and IR plays a partial mediating effect in this association.

Abstract Statins, the first‐line medication for dyslipidemia, are linked to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes. But exactly how statins cause diabetes is yet unknown. In this study, a developed short‐term statin therapy on hyperlipidemia mice show that hepatic insulin resistance is a cause of statin‐induced diabetes. Statin medication raises the expression of progesterone and adiponectin receptor 9 (PAQR9) in liver, which inhibits insulin signaling through degradation of protein phosphatase, Mg2+/Mn2+ dependent 1 (PPM1α) to activate ERK pathway. STIP1 homology and U‐box containing protein 1 (STUB1) is found to mediate ubiquitination of PPM1α promoted by PAQR9. On the other hand, decreased activity of hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 alpha (HNF4α) seems to be the cause of PAQR9 expression under statin therapy. The interventions on PAQR9, including deletion of PAQR9, caloric restriction and HNF4α activation, are all effective treatments for statin‐induced diabetes, while liver specific over‐expression of PPM1α is another possible tactic. The results reveal the importance of HNF4α‐PAQR9‐STUB1‐PPM1α axis in controlling the statin‐induced hepatic insulin resistance, offering a fresh insight into the molecular mechanisms underlying statin therapy.

Abstract Background The triglyceride–glucose (TyG) index and high‐sensitivity C‐reactive protein (hsCRP) are the commonly used biomarkers for insulin resistance and systemic inflammation, respectively. We aimed to investigate the combined association of TyG and hsCRP with the major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with chronic coronary syndrome (CCS). Methods A total of 9421 patients with CCS were included in this study. The primary endpoint was defined as a composite of MACE covering all‐cause death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, and revascularization. Results During the 2‐year follow‐up period, 660 (7.0%) cases of MACE were recorded. Participants were divided equally into three groups according to TyG levels. Compared with the TyG T1 group, the risk of MACE was significantly higher in the TyG T3 group. It is noteworthy that among patients in the highest tertile of TyG, hsCRP >3 mg/L was significantly associated with an increased risk of MACE, whereas the results were not significant in the medium to low TyG groups. When patients were divided into six groups according to hsCRP and TyG, the Cox regression analysis showed that patients in the TyG T3 and hsCRP >3 mg/L group had a significantly higher risk of MACE than those in the TyG T1 and hsCRP ≤3 mg/L group. However, no significant interaction was found between TyG and hsCRP on the risk of MACE. Conclusion Our study suggests that the concurrent assessment of TyG and hsCRP may be valuable in identifying high‐risk populations and guiding management strategies among CCS patients.

Abstract The physiological interactions between the peripheral and central auditory systems are crucial for auditory information transmission and perception, while reliable models for auditory neural circuits are currently lacking. To address this issue, mouse and human neural pathways are generated by utilizing a carbon nanotube nanofiber system. The super‐aligned pattern of the scaffold renders the axons of the bipolar and multipolar neurons extending in a parallel direction. In addition, the electrical conductivity of the scaffold maintains the electrophysiological activity of the primary mouse auditory neurons. The mouse and human primary neurons from peripheral and central auditory units in the system are then co‐cultured and showed that the two kinds of neurons form synaptic connections. Moreover, neural progenitor cells of the cochlea and auditory cortex are derived from human embryos to generate region‐specific organoids and these organoids are assembled in the nanofiber‐combined 3D system. Using optogenetic stimulation, calcium imaging, and electrophysiological recording, it is revealed that functional synaptic connections are formed between peripheral neurons and central neurons, as evidenced by calcium spiking and postsynaptic currents. The auditory circuit model will enable the study of the auditory neural pathway and advance the search for treatment strategies for disorders of neuronal connectivity in sensorineural hearing loss.

Abstract Mix‐dimensional heterojunctions (MDHJs) photodetectors (PDs) built from bulk and 2D materials are the research focus to develop hetero‐integrated and multifunctional optoelectronic sensor systems. However, it is still an open issue for achieving multiple effects synergistic characteristics to boost sensitivity and enrich the prospect in artificial bionic systems. Herein, electrically tunable Te/WSe2 MDHJs phototransistors are constructed, and an ultralow dark current below 0.1 pA and a large on/off rectification ratio of 106 is achieved. Photoconductive, photovoltaic, and photo‐thermoelectric conversions are simultaneously demonstrated by tuning the gate and bias. By these synergistic effects, responsivity and detectivity respectively reach 13.9 A W−1 and 1.37 × 1012 Jones with 400 times increment. The Te/WSe2 MDHJs PDs can function as artificial bionic visual systems due to the comparable response time to those of the human visual system and the presence of transient positive and negative response signals. This work offers an available strategy for intelligent optoelectronic devices with hetero‐integration and multifunctions.

Abstract Conductive polymer hydrogels have greatly improved the compatibility of electronic devices with biological tissues for human–machine interfacing. Hydrogels that possess low Young's modulus, low interfacial impedance, and high tensile properties facilitate high‐quality signal transmission across dynamic biointerfaces. Direct incorporation of elastomers with conductive polymers may result in undesirable mechanical and/or electrical performance. Here, a covalent cross‐linking network and an entanglement‐driven network with conductive poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) have been combined. The triple‐network conductive hydrogel shows high stretchability (with fracture strain up to 900%), low impedance (down to 91.2 Ω·cm2), and reversible adhesion. Importantly, ultra‐low modulus (down to 6.3 kPa) and strain‐insensitive electrical/electrochemical performance were achieved, which provides a guarantee for low current stimulation. The material design will contribute to the progression of soft and conformal bioelectronic devices, and pave the way to future implantable electronics.

Abstract Background Previous studies have hinted at a significant link between lung cancer and the gut microbiome, yet their causal relationship remains to be elucidated. Methods GWAS data for small cell lung cancer (SCLC) was extracted from the FinnGen consortium, comprising 179 cases and 218 613 controls. Genetic variation data for 211 gut microbiota were obtained as instrumental variables from MiBioGen. Mendelian randomization (MR) was employed to determine the causal relationship between the two, with inverse variance weighting (IVW) being the primary method for causal analysis. The MR results were validated through several sensitivity analyses. Results The study identified a protective effect against SCLC for the genus Eubacterium ruminantium group (OR = 0.413, 95% CI: 0.223–0.767, p = 0.00513), genus Barnesiella (OR = 0.208, 95% CI: 0.0640–0.678, p = 0.00919), family Lachnospiraceae (OR = 0.319, 95% CI: 0.107–0.948, p = 0.03979), and genus Butyricimonas (OR = 0.376, 95% CI: 0.144–0.984, p = 0.04634). Conversely, genus Intestinibacter (OR = 3.214, 95% CI: 1.303–7.926, p = 0.01125), genus Eubacterium oxidoreducens group (OR = 3.391, 95% CI: 1.215–9.467, p = 0.01973), genus Bilophila (OR = 3.547, 95% CI: 1.106–11.371, p = 0.03315), and order Bacillales (OR = 1.860, 95% CI: 1.034–3.347, p = 0.03842) were found to potentially promote the onset of SCLC. Conclusion We identified potential causal relationships between certain gut microbiota and SCLC, offering new insights into microbiome‐mediated mechanisms of SCLC pathogenesis, resistance, mutations, and more.

Abstract Background Early diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) can significantly improve patient survival. We aimed to develop a blood‐based assay to aid in the diagnosis, detection and prognostic evaluation of HCC. Methods A three‐phase multicentre study was conducted to screen, optimise and validate HCC‐specific differentially methylated regions (DMRs) using next‐generation sequencing and quantitative methylation‐specific PCR (qMSP). Results Genome‐wide methylation profiling was conducted to identify DMRs distinguishing HCC tumours from peritumoural tissues and healthy plasmas. The twenty most effective DMRs were verified and incorporated into a multilocus qMSP assay (HepaAiQ). The HepaAiQ model was trained to separate 293 HCC patients (Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage 0/A, 224) from 266 controls including chronic hepatitis B (CHB) or liver cirrhosis (LC) (CHB/LC, 96), benign hepatic lesions (BHL, 23), and healthy controls (HC, 147). The model achieved an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.944 with a sensitivity of 86.0% in HCC and a specificity of 92.1% in controls. Blind validation of the HepaAiQ model in a cohort of 523 participants resulted in an AUC of 0.940 with a sensitivity of 84.4% in 205 HCC cases (BCLC stage 0/A, 167) and a specificity of 90.3% in 318 controls (CHB/LC, 100; BHL, 102; HC, 116). When evaluated in an independent test set, the HepaAiQ model exhibited a sensitivity of 70.8% in 65 HCC patients at BCLC stage 0/A and a specificity of 89.5% in 124 patients with CHB/LC. Moreover, HepaAiQ model was assessed in paired pre‐ and postoperative plasma samples from 103 HCC patients and correlated with 2‐year patient outcomes. Abstract Aims/Introduction Different types of diabetes show distinct genetic characteristics, but the specific genetic susceptibility factors remain unclear. Our study aimed to explore the associations between the ribosomal protein S26 (RPS26) gene rs1131017 polymorphisms and susceptibility to type 1 diabetes mellitus, latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) and type 2 diabetes mellitus in the Chinese Han population, and their correlations with clinical features. Materials and Methods Genotyping of the rs1131017 variant was carried out for 1,006 type 1 diabetes mellitus patients, 210 LADA patients, 642 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients and 2,099 control individuals. Abstract The goal of feature matching is to establish accurate correspondences between feature points in different images depicting the same scene. To address the polymorphism of local structures, the authors propose a mismatch removal method using bilateral local–global structural consistency. This method incorporates the problem of mismatch removal into the framework of graph matching, constructs a global affinity matrix using local structural similarity and global affine transformation consistency, and optimizes it using a constrained integer quadratic programming method. To comprehensively describe the local structure, the signature quadratic form distance (SQFD) is used to measure the consistency of the neighbourhood structure. Specifically, the weights of edges are constructed based on the SQFD of the local structure, while the matching correctness of nodes and edges between the two graphs is described using local vector similarity. Furthermore, the consistency of the global affine transformation is evaluated by assessing the consistency of the local neighbourhood affine transformation between different corresponding point pairs. In estimating the local affine transformation, a bilateral correction is performed using a total least‐squares (TLS) algorithm to measure the similarity of nodes between the two different graphs. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms state‐of‐the‐art methods in terms of accuracy and effectiveness.

Abstract Introduction Many asthmatic patients are exposed to cigarette smoke actively or passively, which contributes to asthma exacerbation and poor control. This study is to explore the effects of cigarette smoke on pathological changes in murine surrogate of asthma. Methods C57BL/6 mice were sensitised and challenged with ovalbumin (OVA) to establish a surrogate of asthma and then administered with cigarette smoke extract (CSE). Airways hyperresponsiveness (AHR) was measured using the Flexivent system. Histological staining (haematoxylin‐eosin [HE], periodic acid Schiff [PAS], Congo red and Masson's trichrome) was employed to measure pathological changes in sections of lung tissue of experimental mice. Enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to measure the concentrations of total and OVA‐specific IgE, cytokines and chemokines (eotaxin‐1, IL‐13, IL‐1β, TNF‐α, IL‐17A, IL‐33) in the lung tissue homogenates. Immunoreactivity for vWF and α‐SMA in lung tissue sections was detected by immunohistochemistry. Results Exposure of the animals to CSE significantly reduced OVA‐induced AHR, the number of eosinophils in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and eosinophils infiltrating into the lung tissue, as well as concentrations of some cytokines in lung homogenate. In contrast, it significantly enhanced the number of macrophages and M2 in BALF, as well as collagen deposition, smooth muscle thickness and alveolar destruction in lung tissue. Conclusion CSE inhibits OVA‐induced AHR, changes inflammation ‘phenotypes’, while accelerates some aspects of airways remodelling, which might contribute to worse symptoms and be refractory to anti‐inflammation therapies for asthmatics.

Abstract Background and Aim The spatial distribution and interactions of cells in the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) might be related to the different responses of triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) to immunomodulators. The potential of multiplex IHC (m‐IHC) in evaluating the TIME has been reported, but the efficacy is insufficient. We aimed to research whether m‐IHC results could be used to reflect the TIME, and thus to predict prognosis and complement the TNBC subtyping system. Methods The clinical, imaging, and prognosis data for 86 TNBC patients were retrospectively reviewed. CD3, CD4, CD8, Foxp3, PD‐L1, and Pan‐CK markers were stained by m‐IHC. Particular cell spatial distributions and interactions in the TIME were evaluated with the HALO multispectral analysis platform. Then, we calculated the prognostic value of components of the TIME and their correlations with TNBC transcriptomic subtypes and MRI radiomic features reflecting TNBC subtypes. Abstract Aims The aim of the study was to explore the experiences of female new nurse managers during the COVID‐19 pandemic. Design This was a phenomenological study, and qualitative descriptive analysis was used. Methods New nurse managers were defined as new nurse managers with less than 3 years of management experience in this study. During November and December of 2021, 18 female new nurse managers were interviewed face‐to‐face with a semi‐structured interview guide in three municipal hospitals. The study followed the Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ) guidelines for evaluating qualitative research reports. Data analysis was performed using Colaizzi's seven‐step method. Results Four main themes and 10 sub‐themes were extracted from the collected data. The four major themes were as follows: (1) a shift in stress; (2) work‐related physical and psychological discomfort; (3) reflection on the cause; (4) coping and struggles. Conclusions New nurse managers were experiencing great stress and exhaustion in their roles. It is important that they are helped to handle situations. Providing them with readily accessible support, addressing their psychosocial needs and addressing exhaustion is necessary. Considering their short management time, the hospital should provide adequate support in human, financial and material areas and provide training to help new nurse managers better adapt to their new roles. In addition, nurse directors should create a culture of mutual respect, identify workplace bullying and create a harmonious and cooperation‐oriented work environment for new nurse managers. Abstract This study proposes a space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) driving method for the switched reluctance motor (SRM), which enables the use of a standard full‐bridge power converter to drive a three‐phase SRM with a ring structure, in place of the traditional asymmetric H‐bridge (AHB). Based on this driving topology, the SVPWM approach is employed to drive the SRM, and its performance is compared with that of the conventional SRM driving method utilising the AHB. The findings indicate that the SVPWM method can effectively reduce torque ripple in the SRM. Moreover, the experimental validation performed to verify the proposed driving topology and method yields results that closely align with the simulated outcomes.

Abstract Considering the non‐linear characteristics of both the input and output of photovoltaic (PV) modules and quasi‐Z‐source inverters, as well as the unpredictable natural factors such as large disturbances caused by changes in illumination and temperature, an average state model for the PV quasi‐Z‐source inverter is established. This paper uses the output current of photovoltaic module, DC‐link capacitor voltage and its integral as state variables, then an adaptive reaching law with second‐order sliding mode characteristics is designed by combining with power reaching law and variable speed reaching law. By using the sliding mode controller based on the adaptive reaching law to control the stability of the DC‐link voltage of the quasi‐Z‐source inverter and the small capacitor voltage ripple, the photovoltaic system can operate stably at the maximum power point when the temperature and illumination conditions change abruptly, and the grid‐connected effect is improved. Through SIMULINK and RT‐LAB real‐time simulation, the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive sliding mode control strategy is verified when the environment changes, which effectively improves the dynamic response speed and grid‐connected effect of the system, and ensures the global robustness of the grid‐connected system.

Abstract The utilization of hot carriers as a means to surpass the Shockley‐Queasier limit represents a promising strategy for advancing highly efficient photovoltaic devices. Quantum dots, owing to their discrete energy states and limited multi‐phonon cooling process, are regarded as one of the most promising materials. However, in practical implementations, the presence of numerous defects and discontinuities in colloidal quantum dot (CQD) films significantly curtails the transport distance of hot carriers. In this study, the harnessing of excess energies from hot‐carriers is successfully demonstrated and a world‐record carrier diffusion length of 15 µm is observed for the first time in colloidal systems, surpassing existing hot‐carrier materials by more than tenfold. The observed phenomenon is attributed to the specifically designed honeycomb‐like topological structures in a HgTe CQD superlattice, with its long‐range periodicity confirmed by High‐Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy(HR‐TEM), Selected Area Electron Diffraction(SAED) patterns, and low‐angle X‐ray diffraction (XRD). In such a superlattice, nonlocal hot carrier transport is supported by three unique physical properties: the wavelength‐independent responsivity, linear output characteristics and microsecond fast photoresponse. These findings underscore the potential of HgTe CQD superlattices as a feasible approach for efficient hot carrier collection, thereby paving the way for practical applications in highly sensitive photodetection and solar energy harvesting.

Abstract Background End‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is the final stage of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Aims We aimed to analyze the expression differences of serum thrombomodulin (TM), platelet‐activating factor (PAF), and P‐selectin (CD62P) in patients with autologous arteriovenous fistula (AVF) and the correlation with vascular access function. Methods The case data were retrospectively analyzed. Moreover, 160 patients with AVF maintenance hemodialysis were selected as the AVF group, and 150 healthy participants were selected as the healthy control group. According to the function of vascular access, patients in the AVF group were divided into Group A (n = 50, after the first establishment of AVF), Group B (n = 64, normal vascular access function after hemodialysis treatment), and Group C (n = 46, vascular access failure). Pearson analysis was conducted to explore the correlation between serum TM, PAF, CD62P content, and vascular pathological examination indicators, to evaluate the value of TM, PAF, and CD62P levels in predicting vascular access failure in patients with AVF. Abstract The realization of a controllable transparent conducting system with selective light transparency is crucial for exploring many of the most intriguing effects in top‐illuminated optoelectronic devices. However, the performance is limited by insufficient electrical conductivity, low work function, and vulnerable interface of traditional transparent conducting materials, such as tin‐doped indium oxide. Here, it is reported that two‐dimensional (2D) titanium carbide (Ti3C2Tx) MXene film acts as an efficient transparent conducting electrode for the lead sulfide (PbS) colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) photodiode with controllable near infrared transmittance. The solution‐processed interface engineering of MXene and PbS layers remarkably reduces the interface defects of MXene/PbS CQDs and the carrier concentration in the PbS layer. The stable Ti3C2Tx/PbS CQDs photodiodes give rise to a high specific detectivity of 5.51 × 1012 cm W−1 Hz1/2, a large dynamic response range of 140 dB, and a large bandwidth of 0.76 MHz at 940 nm in the self‐powered state, ranking among the most exceptional in terms of comprehensive performance among reported PbS CQDs photodiodes. In contrast with the traditional photodiode technologies, this efficient and stable approach opens a new horizon to construct widely used infrared photodiodes with CQDs and MXenes.

Abstract Background Stress hyperglycemia ratio (SHR), a novel biomarker of stress hyperglycemia, was proved to be a reliable predictor of short‐term adverse outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS). However, its impact on long‐term prognosis remained controversial. Methods A total of 7662 patients with ACS from a large nationwide prospective cohort between January 2015 and May 2019 were included. SHR was calculated by the following formula: SHR = admission glucose (mmol/L)/(1.59 × HbA1c [%]−2.59). The primary end point was a major adverse cardiovascular event (MACE) during follow‐up, a composite of all‐cause death, myocardial infarction, and unplanned revascularization. The second end point was the separate components of the primary end points. Results During a median follow‐up of 2.1 years, 779 MACE events occurred. After multivariable adjustment, ACS patients with the highest SHR tertile were significantly associated with increased long‐term risks of MACE (hazard ratio [HR] 1.53, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.24–1.88), all‐cause death (HR 1.80, 95% CI 1.29–2.51) and unplanned revascularization (HR 1.44, 95% CI 1.09–1.91). Although significant associations between the highest SHR tertile and risks of MACE and all‐cause death were assessed in both diabetic and nondiabetic patients, the patterns of risk were different in these two groups. Conclusion Elevated SHR was independently associated with a higher risk of long‐term outcomes irrespective of diabetic status, suggesting that SHR was a potential biomarker for risk stratification after ACS.

Abstract Objective A rapid and accurate forecast for the early prognosis of ICH patients is challenging. This study investigated whether heart rate variability (HRV) and skin sympathetic nerve activity (SKNA) could prognosticate poor neurological outcomes in ICH patients. Methods Between November 2020 and November 2021, we studied 92 spontaneous ICH patients in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) score at 2 weeks after the ICH was used to categorize patients into good and poor outcome groups. The modified Rankin Scale (mRS) assessed patients' ability to live independently for 1 year. We utilized a portable high‐frequency electrocardiogram (ECG) recording system to record the HRV and SKNA information in ICH patients and control participants. Results 77 patients were eligible for the prediction of neurological outcome and were allocated into the good (n = 22) or poor (n = 55) outcome groups based on the GOS grade. In univariate logistic regression analysis, significant variables that could differentiate the outcomes were age, hypertension, tracheal intubation, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score, existing intraventricular hemorrhage, white blood cells, neutrophil, lnVLF, lnTP, and aSKNA. Variables in the best fit multivariable logistic regression model were age, hypertension, GCS score, neutrophils, and aSKNA. The GCS score was the only independent risk factor for poor outcomes. At 30 days and 1 year of follow‐up, patients with lower aSKNA had poor outcomes. Interpretation ICH patients had reduced aSKNA, which could be a prognostic indicator. A lower aSKNA suggested a worse prognosis. The present data indicate that ECG signals could be helpful for prognosticating ICH patients.

Abstract Objective Polo‐like kinase 1 (PLK1), a serine/threonine‐protein kinase, functions as a potent oncogene in the initiation and progression of tumor. The aim of this study is to assess potential correlations between PLK1 expression and immune infiltration in breast cancer (BRCA) and construct a PLK1‐based immune risk model applicable for prognosis and treatment response prediction in BRCA. Methods We collected data on PLK1 gene expression in BRCA patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Thereafter, we analyzed the associations of PLK1 expression with immune cell infiltration and immunomodulators, and established a prognostic risk model based on seven PLK1‐associated immunomodulator genes and a nomogram for survival prediction. Results BRCA prognosis, clinical stage progression, and tumor classification were all shown to be substantially correlated with PLK1 expression. The PLK1 gene was significantly enriched in T cell and B cell receptors and molecules of the chemokine signaling pathways. Specifically, PLK1 expression was positively correlated with the CD8+ T cell and regulatory T cell (Tregs) activation and negatively correlated with M2 macrophage infiltration. The seven‐genes‐based risk model could serve as an independent prognostic factor of BRCA. Abstract Aim This study aimed to determine the psychosocial markers associated with pre‐hospital delay among patients with diabetic foot (DF). Design This study has a cross‐sectional design. Methods The participants completed a questionnaire including pre‐hospital time, demographic characteristics, Social Support Rate Scale, Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire and Type D Personality Scale‐14. Bivariate and multivariate analyses were conducted to explore independent associations with pre‐hospital delay. Results Only 1.8% (3/164) of participants arrived at the hospital for medical care in 24 h of symptom onset. Patients with low utilization of social support (p = 0.029), low negative illness perceptions (p = 0.014) and high levels of negative affectivity (p = 0.009) are likely to arrive late at the clinic. Medical staff should pay attention to identifying diabetic patients' Type D personalities and take actions to improve their social support as well as illness perception, so as to reduce the occurrence of hospital delay. Implications for the Profession and/or Patient Care Psychosocial factors play a vital role in the delay in seeking medical treatment for patients with DF. Medical staff need to improve patients' illness perception as well as self‐management ability through health education. Importantly, key family members provide an emotional and psychological support system for diabetic patients. Therefore, nurses need to work with family members together to give information and psychological support during family visits. Additionally, building and maintaining trust with patients is crucial to encouraging individuals to express their concerns and worries. In this case, nurses may identify patients' negative emotions and conduct timely intervention, so as to achieve favourable outcomes. Abstract Deubiquitylating enzymes (DUBs) maintain relative homeostasis of the cellular ubiquitome by removing the post‐translational modification ubiquitin moiety from substrates. Numerous DUBs have been demonstrated specificity for cleaving a certain type of ubiquitin linkage or positions within ubiquitin chains. Moreover, several DUBs perform functions through specific protein–protein interactions in a catalytically independent manner, which further expands the versatility and complexity of DUBs’ functions. Dysregulation of DUBs disrupts the dynamic equilibrium of ubiquitome and causes various diseases, especially cancer and immune disorders. This review summarizes the Janus‐faced roles of DUBs in cancer including proteasomal degradation, DNA repair, apoptosis, and tumor metastasis, as well as in immunity involving innate immune receptor signaling and inflammatory and autoimmune disorders. The prospects and challenges for the clinical development of DUB inhibitors are further discussed. The review provides a comprehensive understanding of the multi‐faced roles of DUBs in cancer and immunity.

Key Clinical Message Parathyroid lipoadenoma is a rare type of parathyroid adenoma, described as a single parathyroid adenoma with more than 50% fat on histologic examination and an unknown etiology, which is one of the rare causes of primary hyperparathyroidism. The difficulty of parathyroid lipoadenoma is mainly diagnosed by preoperative imaging localization. We hope to arouse attention to the parathyroid adenoma which is difficult to locate through our case report. The patient was a middle‐aged male with a body mass index of 38.4 kg/m2 who admitted to our hospital with a 40‐day history of an untreated thyroid nodule. We incidentally discovered parathyroid lipoadenoma in his thyroid surgery. His prognosis was good, and there were no signs of recurrence at his 12‐month follow‐up appointment. We believe that parathyroid lipoadenoma needs to rely on paraffin pathology to make a final diagnosis. This case report serves as a reminder that parathyroid lipoadenomas are also possible in patients who do not have primary hyperparathyroidism preoperatively and who have negative imaging. Clinicians must carefully examine the adipose tissue for the presence of parathyroid lipoadenomas during thyroid surgery to avoid postoperative hypoparathyroidism and persistent hypocalcaemia.

Abstract Doxorubicin (DOX)‐induced cardiotoxicity limits its broad use as a chemotherapy agent. The development of effective and non‐invasive strategies to prevent DOX‐associated adverse cardiac events is urgently needed. We aimed to examine whether and how low‐intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) plays a protective role in DOX‐induced cardiotoxicity. Male C57BL/6J mice were used to establish models of both acute and chronic DOX‐induced cardiomyopathy. Non‐invasive LIPUS therapy was conducted for four consecutive days after DOX administration. Cardiac contractile function was evaluated by echocardiography. Myocardial apoptosis, oxidative stress, and fibrosis were analyzed using terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase‐mediated dUTP nick end labelling (TUNEL) staining, dihydroethidium (DHE) staining, and picrosirius red staining assays. RNA‐seq analysis was performed to unbiasedly explore the possible downstream regulatory mechanisms. Neutrophil recruitment and infiltration in the heart were analyzed by flow cytometry. The S100a8/a9 inhibitor ABR‐238901 was utilized to identify the effect of S100a8/a9 signaling. We found that LIPUS therapy elicited a great benefit on DOX‐induced heart contractile dysfunction in both acute and chronic DOX models. Chronic DOX administration increased serum creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase levels, as well as myocardial apoptosis, all of which were significantly mitigated by LIPUS. In addition, LIPUS treatment prevented chronic DOX‐induced cardiac oxidative stress and fibrosis. RNA‐seq analysis revealed that LIPUS treatment partially reversed alterations of gene expression induced by DOX. Gene ontology (GO) analysis of the downregulated genes between DOX‐LIPUS and DOX‐Sham groups indicated that inhibition of neutrophil chemotaxis might be involved in the protective effects of LIPUS therapy. Flow cytometry analysis illustrated the inhibitory effects of LIPUS on DOX‐induced neutrophil recruitment and infiltration in the heart. Moreover, S100 calcium binding protein A8/A9 (S100a8/a9) was identified as a potential key target of LIPUS therapy. S100a8/a9 inhibition by ABR‐238901 showed a similar heart protective effect against DOX‐induced cardiomyopathy to LIPUS treatment. LIPUS therapy prevents DOX‐induced cardiotoxicity through inhibition of S100a8/a9‐mediated neutrophil recruitment to the heart, suggesting its potential application in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy with DOX.

Abstract The electronic structure of halide perovskites is central to their carrier dynamics, enabling the excellent optoelectronic performance. However, the experimentally resolved transient absorption spectra exhibit large discrepancies from the commonly computed electronic structure by density functional theory. Using pseudocubic CsPbI3 as a prototype example, here, it is unveiled with both ab initio molecular dynamics simulations and transmission electron microscopy that there exists pronounced dynamical lattice distortion in the form of disordered instantaneous octahedral tilting. Rigorous first‐principles calculations reveal that the lattice distortion substantially alters the electronic band structure through renormalizing the band dispersions and the interband transition energies. Most notably, the electron and hole effective masses increase by 65% and 88%, respectively; the transition energy between the two highest valence bands decreases by about one half, agreeing remarkably well with supercontinuum transient‐absorption measurements. This study further demonstrates how the resulting electronic structure modulates various aspects of the carrier dynamics such as carrier transport, hot‐carrier relaxation, Auger recombination, and carrier multiplication in halide perovskites. The insights provide a pathway to engineer carrier transport and relaxation via lattice distortion, enabling the promise to achieve ultrahigh‐efficiency photovoltaic devices.

Abstract An improved voltage balancing control (VBC) method is proposed in this paper to optimize control performance of single‐phase cascaded H‐bridge rectifier (CHBR). Firstly, the steady‐state error of the VBC method based on capacitor energy estimation is analyzed. An error compensation method is therefore presented to eliminate the steady‐state error. The proposed method delivers fast dynamic performance without steady‐state error. In addition, it requires less parameter tuning than traditional proportional‐integral‐based (PI‐based) VBC methods, and coupling effect between the upper‐ and the lower layer control system is also eliminated in both dynamic and steady state. Moreover, a mixed second‐ and third‐order generalized integrator (MSTOGI) method is applied to suppress the dc offset of grid voltage, which may occur in the process of sampling or conversion. Finally, a physical experiment platform is developed and a series of comparisons are given to verify the feasibility of the proposed method.

Abstract This paper explores deep learning (DL) methods that are used or have the potential to be used for traffic video analysis, emphasising driving safety for both autonomous vehicles and human‐operated vehicles. A typical processing pipeline is presented, which can be used to understand and interpret traffic videos by extracting operational safety metrics and providing general hints and guidelines to improve traffic safety. This processing framework includes several steps, including video enhancement, video stabilisation, semantic and incident segmentation, object detection and classification, trajectory extraction, speed estimation, event analysis, modelling, and anomaly detection. The main goal is to guide traffic analysts to develop their own custom‐built processing frameworks by selecting the best choices for each step and offering new designs for the lacking modules by providing a comparative analysis of the most successful conventional and DL‐based algorithms proposed for each step. Existing open‐source tools and public datasets that can help train DL models are also reviewed. To be more specific, exemplary traffic problems are reviewed and required steps are mentioned for each problem. Besides, connections to the closely related research areas of drivers' cognition evaluation, crowd‐sourcing‐based monitoring systems, edge computing in roadside infrastructures, automated driving systems‐equipped vehicles are investigated, and the missing gaps are highlighted. Finally, commercial implementations of traffic monitoring systems, their future outlook, and open problems and remaining challenges for widespread use of such systems are reviewed.

Abstract Genomic prediction (GP) based on haplotype alleles can capture quantitative trait loci (QTL) effects and increase predictive ability because the haplotypes are expected to be in linkage disequilibrium (LD) with QTL. In this study, we constructed haploblocks using LD‐based and the fixed number of single nucleotide polymorphisms (fixed‐SNP) methods with Illumina BovineHD chip in beef cattle. To evaluate the performance of different haplotype block partitioning methods, we constructed haploblocks based on LD thresholds (from r2 > 0.2 to r2 > 0.8) and the number of fixed‐SNPs (5, 10, 20). The performance of predictive methods for three carcass traits including liveweight (LW), dressing percentage (DP), and longissimus dorsi muscle weight (LDMW) was evaluated using three approaches (GBLUP and BayesB model based on the SNP, GHBLUP, and BayesBH models based on the haploblock, and GHBLUP+GBLUP and BayesBH+BayesB models based on the combined haploblock and the nonblocked SNPs, which were located between blocks). In this study, we found the accuracies of LD‐based and fixed‐SNP haplotype Bayesian methods outperformed the Bayesian models (up to 8.54 ± 7.44% and 5.74 ± 2.95%, respectively). GHBLUP showed a high improvement (up to 11.29 ± 9.87%) compared with GBLUP. The Bayesian models have higher accuracies than BLUP models in most scenarios. The average computing time of the BayesBH+BayesB model can reduce by 29.3% compared with the BayesB model. The prediction accuracies using the LD‐based haplotype method showed higher improvements than the fixed‐SNP haplotype method. In addition, to avoid the influence of rare haplotypes generated from haplotype construction, we compared the performance of GP by filtering four types of minor haplotype allele frequency (MHAF) (0.01, 0.025, 0.05, and 0.1) under different conditions (LD levels were set at r2 > 0.3, and the fixed number of SNPs was 5). We found the optimal MHAF threshold for LW was 0.01, and the optimal MHAF threshold for DP and LDMW was 0.025.

Abstract Multi‐stable structures and metamaterials with more than two stable states are widely applied in diversified engineering applications. Non‐rigid foldable origami patterns have provided an effective way of designing multi‐stable structures. But most of them have only two stable states and therefore require a combination of many units to achieve multi‐stability. Here, a series of extensible origami structures are proposed with generic multi‐stability based on non‐rigid wrapping origami. Through a kinematic analysis and experiments, it is demonstrate that a sequential folding among different layers of the structures is created to generate a continuous rigid origami range and several discrete rigid origami states, which consequently leads to the multi‐stability of the extensible origami structures. Moreover, the effects of design parameters on the mechanical properties of the structures are investigated by numerical simulation, enabling properties programmability upon specific needs. This study thus paves a new pathway for the development of novel multi‐stable origami structures.

Abstract Biofilms and their associated infections have posed serious threats to the society from both an economical concern and a healthcare perspective. Graphene oxide (GO) has recently prompted the emergence of applications in the area of antibacterial materials owing to its high biocompatibility and surface functionalization. However, the weak biological interactions with microbial cells limit the antibiotic activity of GO. Herein, by combining GO with currently utilized antibacterial metal ions, copper ion‐graphene oxide composite (Cu2+@GO) with exceptional bactericidal activity is achieved in this work. Cu2+@GO composite possessed more than 95% antimicrobial efficiency of both Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) compared with the Cu2+ only group or GO only group. Additionally, the composite inhibits the formation of bacterial biofilms, making it a potential candidate for the development of alternative antimicrobials. Antibacterial mechanism study shows that Cu2+@GO has both bacteria‐binding ability and the property of producing reactive oxygen species (ROS) to cause the bacterial destruction. In vivo experiments indicate that Cu2+@GO possess an inhibition effect to P. aeruginosa‐induced keratitis. Overall, this work demonstrates that Cu2+@GO may be promising antibacterial agents for the treatment of bacterial infection, which contributes to designing more antibiotic and safe graphene‐based materials.

Abstract 2D cell culture occupies an important place in cancer progression and drug discovery research. However, it limitedly models the “true biology” of tumors in vivo. 3D tumor culture systems can better mimic tumor characteristics for anticancer drug discovery but still maintain great challenges. Herein, polydopamine (PDA)‐modified decellularized lung scaffolds are designed and can serve as a functional biosystem to study tumor progression and anticancer drug screening, as well as mimic the tumor microenvironment. PDA‐modified scaffolds with strong hydrophilicity and excellent cell compatibility can promote cell growth and proliferation. After 96 h treatment with 5‐FU, cisplatin, and DOX, higher survival rates in PDA‐modified scaffolds are observed compared to nonmodified scaffolds and 2D systems. The E‐cadhesion formation, HIF‐1α‐mediated senescence decrease, and tumor stemness enhancement can drive drug resistance and antitumor drug screening of breast cancer cells. Moreover, there is a higher survival rate of CD45+/CD3+/CD4+/CD8+ T cells in PDA‐modified scaffolds for potential cancer immunotherapy drug screening. This PDA‐modified tumor bioplatform will supply some promising information for studying tumor progression, overcoming tumor resistance, and screening tumor immunotherapy drugs.

Abstract A systemic and local inflammatory immune imbalance is thought to be the cause of traumatic tracheal stenosis (TS). However, with CD4+ T lymphocytes being the predominant immune cells in TS, the mechanism of action and recruitment has not been described. In our research, using flow cytometry, ELISA, immunofluorescence, and Transwell chamber assays, the expression, distribution, and potential chemotactic function of CD4+ T cells in TS patients were examined before and after treatment. The results showed that the untreated group had significantly more CD4+ T cells and their secreted TGF‐β1 than the treated group. Additionally, the untreated group's CD4+ T cells showed a significant rise in CCL22 and CCL1, as well as a larger proportion of CCR4 and CCR8. CD4+ T cells and CD68+ macrophages located in TS also expressed CCL1 and CCL22. In vitro, anti‐CCL1 and anti‐CCL22 can partially block the chemoattractant effect of TS bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) on purified CD4+ T cells. The findings of this study indicated that TS contained unbalanced CD4 immune cells that were actively recruited locally by CCR4/CCL22 and CCR8/CCL1. As a result, it is anticipated that CD4 immune rebalancing can serve as a novel treatment for TS.

Abstract Objective We aim to familiarize the application status of metagenomic sequencing in diagnosing pulmonary infections, to compare metagenomic sequencing with traditional diagnostic methods, to conclude the advantages and limitations of metagenomic sequencing, and to provide some advice for clinical practice and some inspiration for associated researches. Data Sources The data were obtained from peer‐reviewed literature, white papers, and meeting reports. Results This review focused on the applications of untargeted metagenomic sequencing in lungs infected by bacteria, viruses, fungi, chlamydia pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, parasites, and other pathogens. Compared with conventional diagnostic methods, metagenomic sequencing is better in detecting novel, rare, and unexpected pathogens and being applied in co‐infections. Meanwhile, it can also provide more comprehensive information about pathogens. However, metagenomic sequencing still has limitations. Also, the situations that should be applied in and how the results should be interpreted are discussed in this review. Conclusion Metagenomic sequencing improves efficiency to identify pathogens compared with traditional diagnostic methods and can be applied in clinical diagnosis. However, the technology of metagenomic sequencing still needs to be improved. Also, clinicians should learn more about when to use metagenomic sequencing and how to interpret its results.

Objective Evaluation of sagittal pelvic tilt is significant for hip surgeons. However, the accurate measurement of pelvic sagittal inclination (PSI) is still a challenge. The objective of this study is to propose a new method for measurement of PSI from pelvic anteroposterior radiograph based on the inverse cosine function obtained from individualized pelvic model. Methods Collecting the imaging data of 30 patients with both pelvic CT and full‐length spine radiographs. Establishing pelvic model by customized 3D reconstruction software. The length of three groups of longitudinal and transverse line segments (A′p and B′) were measured from full‐length spine anteroposterior radiographs. The corresponding anatomical parameters, including A, B, b, ∠α, ∠γ, were measured and calculated on the same patient's pelvic model. The estimated PSI (ePSI) based on three groups of anatomical landmarks, including ePSI‐1, ePSI‐2, and ePSI‐3, were calculated by equation, ePSI=arccosA′pb*B′−∠α, and compared with the actual PSI (aPSI) measured by Surgamap software. For the reliability and validation evaluation, three observers measured these parameters in two rounds. Intra‐class correlation and inter‐class correlation were both calculated. Abstract Radiodermatitis, inflammatory lesions of skin and mucosa caused by radiation, is a common adverse effect during the radiation therapy of vulvar carcinoma. The incidence of radiodermatitis is affected by various factors, and the purpose of this study was to investigate the risk factors of radiodermatitis in patients with vulvar carcinoma. Patients with vulvar tumors who received radiotherapy from January 2015 to December 2020 were included in this retrospective study. Radiodermatitis was graded according to the grading criteria of the American Center for Radiological Oncology, and then univariate analysis and logistic multivariate regression analysis were used to determine the risk factors of radiodermatitis. A total of 60 eligible patients were enrolled, including 3 (5%), 25 (41.7%), 28 (46.7%), and 4 (6.6%) patients with grade 0, 1, 2, and 3 radiodermatitis, respectively. Abstract Background Programmed cell death protein 1 (PD‐1) blockade plus radiotherapy may be a promising strategy to improve the prognosis of patients with metastatic non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the optimum combined scheme, treatment time of radiotherapy, and irradiated lesion have not been fully determined. Methods A total of 321 metastatic NSCLC patients treated with immunotherapy were identified. Among them, 107 patients received PD‐1/PD‐ligand 1 (PD‐L1) inhibitors with radiotherapy, while the remaining cases did not receive radiotherapy. Data on overall survival (OS), progression‐free survival (PFS), treatment response and adverse events were collected. Comparisons based on type of radiation, timing of radiotherapy and number of irradiated lesions were performed. Results The median OS in PD‐1/PD‐L1 inhibitors plus radiotherapy was longer than in nonradiotherapy (22.8 vs. 16.6 months, p = 0.022). The median PFS showed a similar trend in this study (9.4 vs. 6.2 months, p = 0.042). Moreover, the combined strategy demonstrated a superior disease control rate and abscopal control rate versus without radiotherapy (both p ≤ 0.001). Further multivariate analysis in the immunotherapy and radiotherapy groups revealed that age below 65 (p = 0.004), Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance scores of 0–1 (p = 0.001), oligometastasis (p = 0.006), concurrent combination (p = 0.002), and treated with SRT (p = 0.013) were associated with longer OS. There was a similar incidence of adverse events between the two groups (both p ≥ 0.05). Conclusions The combination of PD‐1/PD‐L1 inhibitors plus palliative radiotherapy demonstrated favorable survival and good tolerability in metastatic NSCLC patients.

Abstract Background and Aims Few studies have meta‐analyzed different prognostic models developed for older adults, especially nursing home residents. We aimed to systematically review and meta‐analyze the performance of all published models that predicted all‐cause mortality among older nursing home residents. Methods We systematically searched PubMed and EMBASE from the databases' inception to January 1, 2020 to capture studies developing and/or validating a prognostic/prediction model for all‐cause mortality among nursing home residents. We then carried out both qualitative and quantitative analyses evaluating these models' risks of bias and applicability. Results The systematic search yielded 23,975 articles. We identified 28 indices that predicted the risk of all‐cause mortality from 14 days to 39 months among older adults in nursing homes. The most used predictors were age, sex, body weight, swallowing problem, congestive heart failure, shortness of breath, body mass index, and activities of daily living. Of the 28 indices, 8 (29%) and 3 (11%) were internally and externally validated, respectively. None of the indices was validated in more than one cohort. Of the 28 indices, 22 (79%) reported the C‐statistic, while only 6 (6%) reported the 95% confidence interval for the C statistic in the development cohorts. In the validation cohorts, 11 (39%) reported the C‐statistic and 8 (29%) reported the 95% confidence interval. The meta‐analyzed C statistic for all indices is 0.733 (95% prediction interval: 0.669−0.797). All studies/indices had high risks of bias and high concern for applicability according to PROBAST. Conclusion We identified 28 indices for predicting all‐cause mortality among older nursing home residents. The overall quality of evidence was low due to a high degree of bias and poor reporting of model performance statistics. Before any prediction model could be recommended in routine care, future research is needed to rigorously validate existing prediction models and evaluate their applicability and develop new prediction models.

Abstract Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD)‐induced lower back pain (LBP) is a common problem worldwide. The underlying mechanism is partially accredited to ferroptosis, based on sequencing analyses of IVDD patients from the gene expression omnibus (GEO) databases. In this study, it is shown that polydopamine nanoparticles (PDA NPs) inhibit oxidative stress‐induced ferroptosis in nucleus pulposus (NP) cells in vitro. PDA NPs scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS), chelate Fe2+ to mitigate iron overload, and regulate the expression of iron storage proteins such as ferritin heavy chain (FHC), ferritin, and transferrin receptor (TFR). More importantly, PDA NPs co‐localize with glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) around the mitochondria and suppress ubiquitin‐mediated degradation, which in turn exerts a protective function via the transformation and clearance of phospholipid hydroperoxides. PDA NPs further down‐regulate malondialdehyde (MDA) and lipid peroxide (LPO) production; thus, antagonizing ferroptosis in NP cells. Moreover, PDA NPs effectively rescue puncture‐induced degeneration in vivo by targeting ferroptosis and inhibiting GPX4 ubiquitination, resulting in the upregulation of antioxidant pathways. The findings offer a new tool to explore the underlying mechanisms and a novel treatment strategy for IVDD‐induced LBP.

Abstract Long‐time coherent integration (LTCI) is one of the effective methods to enhance the radar detection capability of manoeuvring targets. In most existing studies, the target is assumed to move at a consistent model during the total integration time. In modern times, this point is not always true. The modern targets often possess strong manoeuvring penetration capability, which enables the presence of multiple motion models (i.e. the target's motion model is changing during the total integration time) with a high possibility, especially when the coherent integration time is long. This factor would reduce the performance of the existing LTCI methods. In this study, an adaptive non‐searching method, based on the adjacent cross correlation function (ACCF)/modified ACCF (MACCF), Keystone transform (KT)/second‐order KT, Hough transform and fractional Fourier transform, is proposed for LTCI of a manoeuvring target with multiple motion models. First, the motion model change points are identified. Subsequently, the adaptive case prejudgement and parameters estimation for different motion stages are completed. Finally, the LTCI of the manoeuvring target with multiple motion models is realised after motion compensation. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
