This study aimed to analyze the clinical features, treatment, survival, and prognostic factors of Chinese patients with peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) excluding natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (NKTCL).Data on patients with newly diagnosed PTCLs between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2017 at our hospital were retrospectively reviewed. Patients with NKTCL were excluded.A total of 240 patients were included. PTCL, not otherwise specified (PTCL-NOS), was the most frequent subtype (42.5%), followed by angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL) (21.3%), anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-negative anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (ALK-ALCL) (16.7%), ALK-positive ALCL (ALK+ALCL) (10.8%) and others (8.8%). With a median follow-up of 81.1 months, the 5-year progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) rates for all patients were 30.4% (95% CI 25.0%-37.0%) and 48.8% (95% CI 42.6%-55.7%), respectively. On multivariate analysis, no consolidative autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) and not achieving complete response after first-line chemotherapy retained independently prognostic value for inferior PFS and OS. Besides, bone marrow involvement and serum albumin level were independent factors for PFS, and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status ≥2 was significantly predictive of inferior OS. Compared with PTCL-NOS, significantly superior PFS and OS were observed for ALK+ALCL and ALK-ALCL.The survival outcomes with current treatment for most PTCL subtypes are still unsatisfactory. Prospective randomized studies are needed to establish the value of consolidative ASCT in PTCL, and novel therapeutic approaches should be explored.

The force exerted on particles is of great significance to the flow and reaction characteristics of particles in gasifier. In this study, the unbalanced thrust, especially its magnitude, of a single char particle induced by chemical reactions during combustion process is investigated numerically, based on the random distribution of active sites. It is revealed that the nonuniform distribution of active sites directly leads to the nonuniform release of gaseous products, which accounts for the net induced thrust of particles. The effects of active site ratio, ambient gas temperature and particle diameter on the induced thrust of reaction particle were investigated. The results show that the induced thrust on particles could be equal to the magnitude of particle gravity. The induced thrust decreases with the increase of active area and particle diameter. And it is enhanced with the increase of ambient temperature.

AIM The prognosis and treatment options for follicular lymphoma (FL) remain heterogenous. This study aimed to analyze the prognostic impact of rituximab maintenance and evaluate the prognostic models in Chinese FL patients. METHODS We retrospectively evaluated patients with treatment-naive advanced stage FL who were treated in Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College between January 2008 and December 2018. We compared the baseline characteristics, long-term survival outcomes, prognostic factors and the performance of four common prognostic models (i.e., FLIPI, FLIPI2, PRIMA-PI and LDH+β2M) between them. RESULTS A total of 158 patients were included (rituximab maintenance group, 77 patients; observation group, 81 patients). The median follow-up time was 61.0 months. Aim The aim of the study was to compare the therapeutic strategies and prognostic factors of patients with primary intestinal diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (PI-DLBCL). Methods A total of 50 PI-DLBCL patients who accepted standard first-line treatment at National Cancer Center in China were included in this retrospective study. Survival analysis was performed to evaluate the prognostic risk factors. Results The 3-year overall survival (OS) and 3-year progression-free survival (PFS) for the entire group were 76.0% and 65.9%, respectively. Univariate analysis showed that B symptom, advanced Lugano stage, elevated LDH status, poor ECOG PS and immunochemotherapy alone were significantly correlated with a poor PFS. Elevated LDH status, poor ECOG PS, advanced Lugano stage, high IPI score and immunochemotherapy alone were significantly correlated with a poor OS. Multivariate analysis revealed that ECOG PS (P= 0.035; HR = 0.233; 95% CI, 0.060-0.905), LDH level (P = 0.010; HR = 0.223; 95% CI, 0.072-0.693) and surgery (P = 0.002; HR = 5.584; 95% CI, 1.883-16.563) were independent prognostic factors for OS. LDH level (P = 0.035; HR = 0.210; 95% CI, 0.049-0.894) and surgery (P = 0.003; HR = 6.410; 95% CI, 1.903-21.593) were independent risk factors for PFS in PI-DLBCL. R-CHOP immunochemotherapy combined surgery treatment was also associated with a lower rate of refractory/relapsed (R/R) disease (P = 0.004). Furthermore, stratified analysis revealed that partial resection or radical resection combined with immunochemotherapy had no significantly difference which affect OS (P = 0.338) and PFS (P = 0.207). Conclusion R-CHOP immunochemotherapy plus surgery was associated with a superior prognosis compared with R-CHOP alone in Chinese PI-DLBCL population.

We aimed to develop a new risk stratification tool to predict freedom from progression (FFP) for newly diagnosed advanced classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL).We collected data from 386 patients with advanced cHL diagnosed between December 8, 2000 and October 29, 2018, and treated with curative intent with ABVD (doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine) or an ABVD-equivalent regimen. Cases were randomly divided into training and validation cohorts at a ratio of 7:3. The new model was constructed based on the results of Cox proportional hazards model in the training cohort. Comparisons of discrimination between the new model and other models in the training and validation cohorts for FFP prediction were measured by time-dependent area under curve (tAUC) and Harrell's C-index. Calibration plots were constructed to compare the consistency between the predicted and observed estimates of survival probability for the new model in the training and validation cohorts.The new model (IPSPLR) composed of International Prognostic Score (IPS)-3 and platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR) provided four distinct risk groups. The IPSPLR showed better discriminative ability when compared with IPS-3 and IPS-7. The AUC of IPSPLR was consistently higher than that of IPS-3 and IPS-7 between 12 and 120 months. The C-index of the IPSPLR was higher than that of IPS-7 and IPS-3. The calibration plots showed an excellent agreement between the IPSPLR-predicted and observed estimates of 5-year FFP.The IPSPLR is an easily used tool for FFP prediction for newly diagnosed advanced cHL. Validation of this tool in other large datasets is needed.

Background Extensive‐stage small cell lung cancer (ES‐SCLC) is deemed as a fatal malignancy with a poor prognosis. Although immunotherapy has gradually played an important role in the treatment of ES‐SCLC since 2018, ES‐SCLC treatment data and patient outcome before 2018, when chemotherapy served as a fundamental therapeutic strategy, is still meaningful as a summary of the situation regarding previous medical treatment and is a baseline for comparative data. In addition, the prognostic factors of ES‐SCLC have failed to reach a consensus until now. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate survival and identify the prognostic factors in an ES‐SCLC population. Methods We retrospectively collected the detailed medical records of 358 patients with ES‐SCLC from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2018 in a Chinese top‐level cancer hospital. The prognostic factors were evaluated by Cox univariate and multivariate analysis. Results The median overall survival (OS) of ES‐SCLC patients (N = 358) was 14.0 months, the one‐ and two‐year OS rates were 56.2% and 21.7%, respectively. Moreover, we identified two demographic characters (age ≥ 70, smoking index ≥ 400), one tumor burden factor (bone multimetastasis), two tumor biomarkers (cyfra211, CA125) and two laboratory indexes (decreased Na, PLR, This study provides real‐world evidence of survival and prognosis of untreated extensive stage small cell lung cancer (ES‐SCLC). We retrospectively collected the detailed medical records of 358 patients with ES‐SCLC from 2011 to 2018 in a Chinese top‐level cancer hospital. The median overall survival (OS) of all patients was 14.0 months, and the one‐ and two‐year OS rates were 56.2% and 21.7%, respectively. The median progression‐free survival (PFS) of 238 patients was 6.2 months, and the six‐month and one‐year PFS rates were 51.7% and 14.3%, respectively. Moreover, several independent prognostic factors for OS and PFS of ES‐SCLC were identified.

Aim The clinical course of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is variable and there is a lack of prognostic markers and models for relapsed or refractory (r/r) DLBCL. Hence, we conducted this study to identify independent factors that can predict the survival rate of r/r DLBCL patients. Methods A total of 416 r/r DLBCL patients who were pretreated with first-line anthracycline-based chemotherapy at the National Cancer Center in China between 2006 and 2016 were divided into the primary (n = 291) and validation (n = 125) cohorts. The effect of preclinical and clinical indicators on DLBCL survival rates of the two cohorts were evaluated by univariate and multivariate analyses. Factors showing good correlation with patient survival rates were used to construct a prognostic nomogram. Results Multivariate analysis of the primary cohort revealed five independent prognostic factors: lactate dehydrogenase level at diagnosis, response to front line treatment, progression/recurrence pattern, location, and invasion on progression/recurrence, which were then used to construct a nomogram. The nomogram was shown to have a C-index of 0.76 and AUC values of 0.81 and 0.80 for the primary and validation cohorts, respectively, suggesting good prognostic power. We further stratified the r/r DLBCL patients into four risk groups according to the newly developed nomogram. Conclusion The prognostic nomogram constructed using the five identified clinical indicators can potentially be applied in the clinical setting to guide treatment decision.

Hemolymphangioma of the thorax is a very rare benign tumor. There were only three reports of this disease until 2016. Herein, we report a case of hemolymphangioma of the thorax with pleural effusion. A 57-year-old woman had been admitted to hospital. Computed tomography also demonstrated a heterogenous mass in the posterior mediastinum and suspected invasion to the artery. Surgery was performed. The mediastinal tumor was soft. The pathological diagnosis was a hemolymphangioma of the posterior mediastinum. Her postoperative course was uneventful and she was discharged on the fifth day after surgery. Major symptoms are chest tightness and short of breath due to the tumor and pleural effusion. However, we experienced a case of hemolymphangioma of the thorax with pleural effusion. This disease is a very rare entity, but should be considered when patients have mass and pleural effusion in the thorax.

Background: Factors affecting progenitor cell mobilization in patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) are incompletely understood. The aim of this retrospective study was to determine which factors are crucial for effective mobilization and collection of autologous peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC) prior to transplantation in Chinese patients. Patients and methods: A total of 239 patients with lymphoma (198 NHL and 41 HL patients) underwent PBSC collection after mobilization with granulocyte-colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) or G-CSF plus chemotherapy priming. Results: Patient characteristics at diagnosis and transplant, including low Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group score (P = 0.013), lack of extranodal invasion (P = 0.034), previously administered radiotherapy regimens (P = 0.040), treatment with platinum prior to mobilization (P = 0.042), previous chemotherapy regimens (P = 0.001) and cycles (P < 0.001), and chemotherapy regimens (P < 0.001) were statistically significant for successful mobilization in multivariate analysis. Premobilization factors, including previous radiotherapy (P = 0.009), previous chemotherapy regimens (P = 0.043) and cycles (P = 0.039), low platelet count prior to mobilization (P = 0.042), and lower CD34+ cells in peripheral blood (PB) (P = 0.050) or bone marrow (BM) (P = 0.007) were considered possibly predictive of poor mobilization. We found the patients who had chemosensitive lymphoma had worse progress-free survival (PFS) than the patients with initial treatment and high risks (P = 0.017). Conclusion: Our analysis showed that high amounts of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, low platelet count, chemosensitive recurrent patients, combination chemotherapy plus G-CSF and low CD34+ cells in BM prior to mobilization could emerged as important predictive factors for mobilization failure in Chinese patients with NHL and HL.
