This study presents a bibliometric analysis of Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management (CSREM) covering the period from 2003 to 2020. Data for the analysis is drawn from the Scopus database. The analysis of 875 publications reflects an admirable pursuit for intellectual excellence by the journal. It is starting with five citations in 2003; the journal has earned 6434 citations during the year 2020. Over the last 18 years, the journal has accumulated 22,770 citations. The paper provides an in‐depth insight into what has been achieved by the journal by analyzing bibliographic mapping of knowledge, intellectual structure of publications, contributions by universities, countries, and authors using bibliographic coupling (BC), co‐citations, and co‐occurrence (CC) methods. As the first retrospection of the journal, the study would be of interest to the readers, contributors, and the editorial board, as it offers inputs for future research.

Despite the growing significance of pro‐environmental behavior in the hospitality industry, empirically derived insights into its predictors and outcomes remain unexplored. Drawing upon the theory of social exchange and social identity theory, this study investigates the impact of hotels' employees' perception of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities on employees' voluntary pro‐environmental behavior (VPEB). The authors also examine the mediating roles of organizational pride and employee engagement (EE). Moreover, the moderating role of empathy is also investigated in the relationship between CSR and VPEB. We investigated our theoretical framework through a survey of 336 employees of selected luxury hotels in Pakistan. Findings reveal that CSR directly affects VPEB. Further, the parallel and sequential mediation of EE and organizational pride is also confirmed between CSR and VPEB. Moreover, empathy moderates the relationship between CSR and VPEB. Theoretical and managerial implications are discussed at the end.

The rising interest in environmental protection and sustainability has led to the emergence of a new research focus in human resource management (HRM) field. Scholars in this field have started to investigate how HRM can significantly contribute to achieving sustainable environmental goals and coined the term “green human resource management” (GHRM). Despite the growing interest in studying GHRM, few studies have examined its impact on positive employees' attitudes and behaviour in reducing firms' environmental footprint and enhancing business sustainability. Hence, to bridge this research gap, the present study expanded green research streams by investigating GHRM influence on pro‐environmental behaviours (PEBs) through the mediating effect of green commitment. SmartPLS was employed to test the theoretical framework from 342 valid responses. Present research findings reveal that GHRM practices influence employees' green commitment and PEBs. Moreover, the results also suggest that green commitment mediates the relationship between GHRM and PEBs. In the end, theoretical contributions and implications were discussed.

This study examined the abusive supervision’s influence on emotion regulation and outcomes. Based on COR theory, we investigated whether supervisor abuse has a direct relationship with the emotional labor strategies of surface acting (monitoring external emotions) and deep acting (monitoring internal feelings). In turn, we investigated the indirect relationship of supervisor abuse on outcomes (i.e., emotional exhaustion, job satisfaction, and task performance) via these emotional labor strategies. Using lagged and dyadic sample (210 subordinates and 30 supervisors), we found that abusive supervision predicted surface and deep acting and that the indirect associations of supervisor abuse on outcomes via emotional labor strategies were also significant. The present investigation empirically supports the theorized links and offers notable implications for personnel selection and assessment.

The competitive academic climate of all the academic fields, including business strategy, puts great stress to publish. To effectively maneuver the field of business strategy and the environment, all the stakeholders, such as academicians and practitioners, must understand the current position of the theory and practice. A systematic bibliometric analysis of a top tier journal can serve this issue by providing a holistic view of the publications' trends and trajectories. This study analyzes the trend of publication in the Business Strategy and the Environment (BSE) Journal since its inception in 1992 to 2019. The study uses two procedures to analyze the bibliometric data collected from the Scopus database. First, we use different aspects such as citation and publication structure to estimate the evolution of the BSE; second, we use VOS viewer software to visualize the mapping of BSE based on co‐citation, bibliographic coupling (BC), and co‐occurrence (CC). The results show a gradual increase in the citation and publication structure of the BSE. The increase in publications and citations indicates BSE's growing stature as a key academic outlet advancing knowledge in business strategy and environmental sustainability research. This study contributes to the literature by identifying the most influential aspects of the journal, which would help researchers to understand the trends and focus of the BSE.

Latest report of NASA claims that planet average surface temperature has risen about 1.62°F since the late 19th century because of increased human‐made emissions into atmosphere. Due to recent COVID‐19 pandemic, this planet is getting relief from pollution, as Wright stated that the sudden fall in pollution is observed in India, a country having world's 30 most polluted cities, similarly Gohd stated that satellite track emissions drop over china during this coronavirus outbreak. These facts showing, human is responsible to increase the pollution in this planet, therefore current study aims to test a model which can help in changing consumer behavior into consumer green behavior. A significant trend has been observed towards the recognition of the strategic importance of protecting the environment by enforcing laws. These kind of efforts are in favor of reducing consumption of plastic bags, and the need for practical and rapid measures to reduce the amount of plastic waste has increased, especially nylon bags, has increased. However, plastic bags are still the most common and used by many individuals, who prefer them to others to put their needs and belongings and their various purchases, or to save their food and drink because of its ease. Data were collected from shoppers at Cyberjaya (Malaysia) and Bangkok (Thailand). Findings indicate that knowledge and attitude have a significant and positive impact on consumer green behavior; the study also identified that the ban on plastic bags also has a significant and positive influence on consumer green behavior. This more considerable influence shows the need for such governmental interventions to moderate consumers' environmentally unfriendly behavior, and we cannot merely rely on consumers' acknowledgement of understanding the danger.

Entrepreneurial orientation (EO) is a valuable organizational asset which is considered to be a driver of superior organizational performance (OP). However, some studies challenge this notion and show a negative link between EO and OP. This deviation may be rooted in the contingent‐theoretic approach, which postulates the need to align an organization's strategic posture with various other factors to achieve strategic fit. Therefore, leaning on contingent‐theoretic approach this research aims to test a direct and synergistic effect of EO and corporate social responsibility (CSR) on OP in the context of developing (Pakistan) and developed (United Kingdom) economies. A survey is conducted and the data are analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS‐SEM). The results show a significant direct effect of EO and CSR on OP. In addition, we found that CSR significantly mediates the impact of EO on OP across both countries. This study suggests that specific strategic actions, such as EO and CSR, should be studied in combination with other strategic actions to provide a holistic understanding of OP.

Despite the claims that corporate social responsibility (CSR) plays a vital role in employee behavior, the empirical support of these claims is limited especially in the Pakistani context. Thus, this paper aims to fill this gap by investigating the relationship between employees' perception of CSR and employee engagement (EE) in Pakistan. In addition, the present research also looks at the role of gender differences in terms of CSR perception and EE. The data were collected from employees working in different industries of Pakistan, such as manufacturing, banking, electronics, and oil and gas. Structural equation modeling technique was used to test the hypothesized relationships. The results revealed a significant positive impact of CSR perception on EE. Furthermore, the moderation effect of gender on the CSR‐EE relationship was investigated. The empirical evidence showed a stronger relationship between CSR and women than men. The current study attests the importance of CSR in nurturing employees' positive work behavior. This research suggests the incorporation of CSR in a business to the maximum possible capacity.

We investigated the effect of various growth substances such as hydrogen peroxide, salicylic acid (SA), moringa leaf-extract (MLE) and ascorbic acid (ASA) on leaf physiology and seed cotton yield (SCY) of heat-stressed cotton. Cotton plants were exposed to elevated temperatures at three reproductive stages, either by staggering planting time in the field or by increasing growth cabinet temperatures (38/24°C and 45/30°C) in glasshouse. Elevated temperature at any reproductive phase significantly damaged cellular membrane and reduced SCY. Plants exposed to 38/24°C and 45/30°C in glasshouse produced 63% and 22% lower SCY, respectively, compared with plants under optimal temperature ((32/20°C). In response to high temperature, cotton plants up-regulated activities of anti-oxidative enzymes e.g. peroxidase and ascorbic acid. However, this defensive system could not protect cellular membrane of stressed plants from extreme temperature (38 and 45°C). In contrast, growth substances such as H2O2, ASA and MLE significantly increased anti-oxidative enzymes activity to an extent, which reduced heat-induced damage to cellular membrane. No significant effect of any regulator was observed on SCY under optimum temperatures; although H2O2, MLE and ASA significantly increased SCY of heat-stressed cotton. Hydrogen peroxide increased SCY of April and May thermal regimes crops by 16% (averaged across both sowing dates) under field, while it caused 14% and 20% increase in SCY of plants exposed to sub (38/24°C) and supra optimal (45/30°C) thermal regimes under glasshouse. We concluded that growth regulators, specifically, H2O2 can protect cotton crops from heat-induced cellular membrane damage by up-regulating antioxidant defense system.

Long wave UVA radiation (340-400 nm) causes detrimental as well as beneficial effects on human skin. Studies of human skin fibroblasts irradiated with UVA demonstrate increased expression of both antifibrotic heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and matrix metalloproteinase 1 (MMP-1). The use of UVA-induced MMP-1 is well-studied in treating skin fibrotic conditions such as localized scleroderma, now called morphea. However, the role that UVA-induced HO-1 plays in phototherapy of morphea has not been characterized. In the present manuscript, we have illustrated and reviewed the biological function of HO-1 and the use of UVA1 wavebands (340-400 nm) for phototherapy; the potential use of HO-1 induction in UVA therapy of morphea is also discussed.

UVA treatment of cultured human skin fibroblasts (FEK4) has been shown previously to reduce transcriptional activation of heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) following a second dose of UVA radiation, a phenomenon known as refractoriness. This study demonstrates that the levels of HO-1 protein are also reduced after a second dose of UVA radiation as are Nrf2 levels, and there is less accumulation of Nrf2 in the nucleus where as Bach1 does accumulate in the nucleus. Cell viability is further reduced and cell membrane damage increased as compared with a single UVA treatment when an initial UVA treatment was followed by a second dose. Knockdown of Nrf2 by siRNA (siNrf2) targeting caused additional refractoriness of HO-1 protein induction to a second UVA or heme treatment and this treatment also further enhanced cell damage by a second dose of UVA radiation. However, transfection with Nrf2 caused less refractoriness of HO-1 to a second dose of UVA and reduced cell damage by a second dose of UVA radiation. These findings are consistent with the proposal that Nrf2 is involved in HO-1 refractoriness and could serve as a cytoprotective factor against cell damage caused by repeated exposure to moderate doses of UVA radiation. We propose that protection by the Nrf2-HO-1 pathway protection may have clinical relevance since human skin is exposed repeatedly to UVA radiation.
