Abstract Biochemical characterization of new microalgal strains that are isolated from diverse environmental conditions is an important starting point for the establishment of high‐quality feedstock for nutraceutical and pharmaceutical applications. In this research study, the biochemical composition of three Iranian native subspecies of Scenedesmus microalgae (Scenedesmus obliquus, Scenedesmus bijugusi, and Scenedesmus sp.), with the main focus on fatty acid composition, was studied. The results showed that the strain Scenedesmus bijugusi had the highest biomass productivity (48 g/L/d), biomass (0.73%), carbohydrate (13.97%), fat (16.27%), protein (44.04%), chlorophyll‐a (6.32 mg/g), and carotenoids (3.7 mg/g). The lipid profile also revealed that S. obliquus had the highest percentage of polyunsaturated fatty acid (46.52%), ratio of ∑n‐3/∑n‐6 (5.96), ratio of polyunsaturated fatty acid to saturated fatty acid (PUFA/SAF) (1.18), α‐linolenic acid (22.74%), hypocholesterolemia index (1.61), and low atherogenic index (0.34). S. bijugusi and S. obliquus, thus, showed a great promise in nutraceutical and pharmaceutical applications due to their appropriate high productivity, biopigment, protein, lipid, antioxidant activity, long‐chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, and α‐linolenic acid.

Abstract Background Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most frequent arrhythmia after cardiac surgery causing a range of clinical symptoms and treatments that develop in around one‐third of coronary artery bypass surgery patients. We aimed to evaluate the effect of Amiodarone in preventing arrhythmia in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass surgery. Method In this double‐blind randomized clinical trial, 60 patients candidate for coronary artery bypass surgery above the age of 18 were included and randomly divided into two groups of intervention, receiving an infusion of Amiodarone (3 mg/kg) 10 min (in 100 cc Normal saline) before declamping of the aorta, and a control group, receiving 100 cc of saline 10 min before declamping of the aorta. The patient's demographic, clinical features, and hospital and clinical course were recorded. Results After undergoing operation, 22 (36.67%) of patients were developed arrhythmia. Abstract The goal of this research was to assess the free Lactobacillus curvatus (FLC) and microencapsulated L. curvatus (MLC) survivability using sodium alginate and Plantago major mucilage (PMM), as a second layer to produce probiotic aloe vera jelly dessert (AVJD). To determine bead characteristics, the aspect ratio of the bead, survival in 72°C, and cold storage were assessed as well as for AVJD, survivability of probiotics in simulated gastrointestinal condition (SGIC), and storage time. The results showed that all the beads are spherical (aspect ratio = 1.12), and under heat stress conditions, MLC showed a higher survival rate (50.15%) compared to FLC (not detected after 5 min). The number of survived probiotics in the MLC sample (8.65 log CFU/mL) was higher than FLC (7.52 log CFU/g) on the 28th day. In AVJD, the MLC survived at a minimum scientific adequate number of probiotics (6.88 log CFU/mL) on the 28th day. In SGIC, the final survival rates of FLC and MLC samples were 14.24% and 71.04%, respectively. These results suggest that using alginate and PMM is a promising method to protect L. curvatus (LC) from harsh environmental conditions and in AVJD.

ABSTRACT Background Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a rare malignancy of invasive epithelium with keratinocyte differentiation, and it is the most common form of eyelid malignant neoplasm, comprising 5%–10% of malignancies. While SCC rarely affects the orbit, it may be involved through local invasion from a cutaneous primary site or extension by perineural invasion. Only 12 cases of primary orbital SCC have been reported until now. Here, we present a case of primary carcinoma of the right orbit with coexisting Carney's syndrome, a rare genetic disorder associated with multiple endocrine neoplasias (MEN) syndromes. Case A 62‐year‐old South Asian male presented with a painful swelling in the lateral aspect of the right eyebrow and protrusion of the eyeball in August 2020. He had a history of excision of Right atrial Myxoma in March 2020. Orbital computerized tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography (PET‐CT) scans revealed an enhancing soft tissue lesion in the right orbit with the involvement of frontal and ethmoid sinuses. Biopsy confirmed HPV‐related poorly differentiated SCC, positive for HPV‐related markers. The patient received concurrent chemo irradiation with Cisplatin. Follow‐up PET‐CT done 3 months later showed a new lesion appeared in the right orbital region and right lobe of thyroid. Later had surgical excision and total thyroidectomy, and histopathological examination (HPE) from orbit was reported as invasive SCC and from the thyroid was reported as synchronous papillary thyroid cancer. The patient's proptosis resolved, and subsequent PET‐CT and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans did not show any residual or recurrent disease. Conclusion Primary SCC of the orbit is an extremely rare disease, and this case report presents the 13th reported case and the first one associated with Carney's syndrome. As there is no standard treatment regimen for primary SCC of the orbit, this case highlights the use of multimodality treatment, including surgical excision and chemo irradiation. The findings emphasize the importance of early detection and management of this uncommon and life‐threatening condition, providing hope for patients and aiding in the prevention of recurrence.

Abstract Isoprene, a volatile hydrocarbon, is typically emitted from the leaves of many plant species. Given its well‐known function in plant growth and defense aboveground, we examined its effects on root physiology. We used isoprene‐emitting (IE) lines and a non‐emitting (NE) line of Arabidopsis and investigated their performance by analyzing root phenotype, hormone levels, transcriptome, and metabolite profiles under both normal and salt stress conditions. We show that IE lines emitted tiny amounts of isoprene from roots and showed an increased root/shoot ratio compared with NE line. Isoprene emission exerted a noteworthy influence on hormone profiles related to plant growth and stress response, promoting root development and salt‐stress resistance. Methyl erythritol 4‐phosphate pathway metabolites, precursors of isoprene and hormones, were higher in the roots of IE lines than in the NE line. Transcriptome data indicated that the presence of isoprene increased the expression of key genes involved in hormone metabolism/signaling. Our findings reveal that constitutive root isoprene emission sustains root growth under saline conditions by regulating and/or priming hormone biosynthesis and signaling mechanisms and expression of key genes relevant to salt stress defense.

Abstract Polyamines have received a lot of attention since the 1990s because of their anti‐aging, anti‐chronic disease, and proliferative effects. Wheat germ was reported as one of the natural sources of high polyamine, especially spermidine. The current study used three types of wheat germ: group A was industrially separated germ from whole grain, group B was the commercially available germinated wheat germ, and group C was manually separated wheat germ from germinated grain. The polyamine content of putrescine, spermidine, and spermine has been determined using a simplified isocratic LC–MS/MS method. An optimized extraction procedure was performed on all seven samples for obtaining a polyamine‐enriched extract. The three dominant carbomylated polyamines were identified by analyzing the extracted samples in order to determine their relative abundance. Wheat germ powders contain the highest amount of polyamines (220–337 μg/g) of which spermidine is one of the most important. Germinated wheat grains, on the other hand, contain the least amount of this polyamine. The commercially available separated wheat germs are suggested as a good nutrition source of these polyamines.

Abstract Background Statins, metformin, and aspirin have been reported to reduce the incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the effect of their perioperative use on survival outcomes of HCC patients following curative liver resection still remains unclear. Method Three hundred and fifty three patients with a first diagnosis of HCC who underwent curative liver resection were included. Propensity score matching analysis with a users: nonusers ratio of 1:2 were performed for each of the medications (statins, metformin, and aspirin). Overall survival (OS) and recurrence‐free survival (RFS) were evaluated and multivariable Cox proportional hazard analysis was performed. Results Sixty two patients received statins, 48 patients used metformin, and 53 patients received aspirin for ≥90 days before surgery. None of the medications improved OS. RFS of statin users was significantly longer than that of nonusers (p = 0.021) in the matched cohort. Users of hydrophilic statins, but not lipophilic ones had a significantly longer RFS than nonusers. Multivariable analysis showed that statin use significantly improved RFS (hazard ratio [HR]: 0.41, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.17–0.97, p = 0.044). No difference was seen in RFS between metformin users and nonusers. Among patients with diabetes, RFS was nonsignificantly longer in metformin users than in non‐metformin users (84.1% vs. 60.85%, p = 0.069) in the matched cohort. No difference in postoperative RFS was seen between aspirin users and nonusers. Conclusion Preoperative use of statins in patients with HCC can increase RFS after curative liver resection, but metformin and aspirin were not associated with improved survival. Randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm the findings of the present study.

Abstract Background Breath‐holding spells (BHS) are common in infancy and early childhood and may appear like seizures. Factors such as autonomic dysfunction and iron deficiency anemia are thought to contribute to the incidence of BHS. In this study, electrocardiographic (ECG) parameters of patients with BHS were compared to those of healthy, normal children. Logistic regression and machine‐learning (ML) models were then created to predict these spells based on ECG characteristics. Methods In this case–control study, 52 BHS children have included as the case and 150 healthy children as the control group. ECG was taken from all children along with clinical examinations. Multivariate logistic regression model was used to predict BHS occurrence based on ECG parameters. ML model was trained and validated using the Gradient‐Boosting algorithm, in the R programming language. Results In BHS and control groups, the average age was 11.90 ± 6.63 and 11.33 ± 6.17 months, respectively (p = .58). Abstract Background Family caregivers of cancer patients must have strong emotional intelligence skills essential for understanding one's and others' feelings and learning how to cope. Objectives The present study aims to determine the predictive factors of emotional intelligence and its relationship with spiritual intelligence, coping, and knowledge and experience about pain among family caregivers of cancer patients in Iran. Methods A cross‐sectional, descriptive study was conducted in 2020–2021. Two hundred twenty‐six family caregivers of cancer patients participated in this study. The data collection tools were Wong and Law's emotional intelligence, King's spiritual intelligence, Brief Cope, and the family pain questionnaire. Following determining the variables' correlation, linear regression was carried out. Abstract Introduction Sleep is an important neurophysiological condition that is intricately linked to general health, laying the basis for both physiological and psychological well‐being. A thorough examination of sleep disorders and cardiovascular health demonstrates their deep relationship, emphasizing the numerous diagnostic tools and treatment techniques available. Aim This study aims to examine the impact, mechanisms, diagnostic techniques, treatment strategies, implications, and healthcare interventions of the sleep‐cardiovascular connection, to better understand the relationship between sleep disorders and cardiovascular health. Methods The paper reviews key studies conducted from 2015‐till date, investigating the impact of sleep disorders on the cardiovascular system. It looked into data relating to cardiovascular outcomes based on the degree of sleep disorders, considered potential confounding factors, and addressed current research constraints. Results The findings highlight a strong link between sleep problems and poor cardiovascular outcomes. Emerging diagnostic tools, such as enhanced sleep‐related technology and biomarkers, open up new avenues for determining the impact of sleep disturbances on cardiovascular health. In addition, the research discusses several treatment options, ranging from cognitive behavioral therapy to pharmaceutical therapies, and their potential benefits in addressing sleep‐related cardiovascular risks. Conclusion The complex association between sleep disturbances and cardiovascular health emphasizes the need to recognize sleep as a critical component of overall well‐being. Thus collaboration among medical disciplines, as well as individualized therapies, are critical to improving patient care. Moreover, Understanding and managing the consequences of sleep problems on cardiovascular health can lead to more effective interventions, better outcomes, and improved public health as research advances.

Abstract To achieve low‐carbon sustainable energy development, new technologies such as Internet of Energy (IoE), intelligent systems and Internet of Things (IoT) as well as distributed energy generations via smart grids (SG) are gaining attention. The interoperability between intelligent energy systems, realised through the web, enables automatic consumption optimisation and increases network efficiency and intelligent management. IoE is an intriguing topic in close connection with the IoT, communication systems, SG and electrical mobility that contributes to energy efficiency to achieve zero‐carbon technologies and green environments. Furthermore, nowadays, the widespread growth and utilisation of processors for mining digital currency in homes and small warehouses are some other factors to be considered in terms of electric energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission. However, research on the use of the Internet for evaluating the misallocation of energy and the effect it can have on CO2 emissions is often neglected. In this study, the authors present a detailed overview regarding the evolution of SG in conjunction with the employment of IoE systems as well as the essential components of IoE for decarbonisation. Also, mathematical models with simulation are provided to evaluate the role of IoE in reducing CO2 emission.

Abstract Background Pulmonary Embolism (PE) is an acute and potentially fatal condition defined as the blockage of pulmonary arteries by an embolism that can be from various origins. Objective The present study aimed to investigate the findings of computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) and echocardiography in patients with acute PE. Methods The present cross‐sectional study included some patients with clinical manifestations of PE who underwent CTPA and echocardiography. The radiologic findings, PE severity, and outcome of the patients were recorded. Moreover, echocardiography was performed by an expert cardiologist using a high‐resolution device, while CTPA was performed by an expert radiologist using a 16‐slice device and a two‐step selective test bolus method. Results According to our findings, a total number of 147 patients were diagnosed with PE, including 44 (29.93%), 44 (29.93%), and 59 (40.14%) cases of mild, moderate, and severe PE, respectively. Moreover, 25 patients (17%) finally expired due to PE. Regarding the CTPA findings, 31 patients (21.1%) had septum flattening, while 35 (23.8%) had a septum deviation toward the left ventricle. Key clinical massage Pseudoaneurysms and aneurysms of the visceral arteries are rare entities. To the best of our knowledge, rupture of a proximal parental artery during endovascular treatment of a visceral aneurism/pseudoaneurysm has not been reported and should be kept in mind as a tragic possibility immediately following an apparently successful management of them. Abstract A 55‐year‐old woman with a history of coronary artery disease was referred to our hospital with abdominal pain as her primary complaint. Early works revealed anemia, a small amount of free peritoneal fluid, and a possible large aneurysm or pseudoaneurysm by the greater curvature of the stomach. She underwent emergency angiography that showed a large aneurism/pseudoaneurysm of the gastroepiploic artery. Successful embolization of the lesion was performed using the isolation technique. Perforation of a side branch of the gastroduodenal artery was observed on the immediate postembolization control angiography. Therefore, parent artery coiling was done immediately with good results. She was symptom‐free and stable hemodynamically after the procedure, during the hospital course, and in the follow‐ups.

Abstract The use of inexpensive, lightweight, and portable particulate matter (PM) sensors is increasingly becoming popular in air quality monitoring applications. As an example, these low‐cost sensors can be used in surface or underground coal mines for monitoring of inhalable dust, and monitoring of inhalable particles in real‐time can be beneficial as it can possibly assist in preventing coal mine related respiratory diseases such as black lung disease. However, commercially available PM sensors are not inherently calibrated, and as a result, they have vague and unclear measurement accuracy. Therefore, they must initially be evaluated and compared with standardised instruments to be ready to be deployed in the fields. In this study, three different types of inexpensive, light‐scattering‐based widely available PM sensors (Shinyei PPD42NS, Sharp GP2Y1010AU0F, and Laser SEN0177) are evaluated and calibrated with reference instruments. PM sensors are compared with reference instruments in a controlled environment. The calibration is done by means of different machine learning techniques. The results demonstrate that the calibrated response obtained by fusion of sensors has a higher accuracy in comparison to the calibrated response of each individual sensor.

Abstract Alopecia Areata (AA) is characterised by an autoimmune response to hair follicles (HFs) and its exact pathobiology remains unclear. The current study aims to look into the molecular changes in the skin of AA patients as well as the potential underlying molecular mechanisms of AA in order to identify potential candidates for early detection and treatment of AA. We applied Weighted Gene Co‐expression Network Analysis (WGCNA) to identify key modules, hub genes, and mRNA–miRNA regulatory networks associated with AA. Furthermore, Chi2 as a machine‐learning algorithm was used to compute the gene importance in AA. Finally, drug‐target construction revealed the potential of repositioning drugs for the treatment of AA. Our analysis using four AA data sets established a network strongly correlated to AA pathogenicity based on GZMA, OXCT2, HOXC13, KRT40, COMP, CHAC1, and KRT83 hub genes. Interestingly, machine learning introduced these genes as important in AA pathogenicity. Besides that, using another ten data sets, we showed that CHAC1 could clearly distinguish AA from similar clinical phenotypes, such as scarring alopecia due to psoriasis. Also, two FDA‐approved drug candidates and 30 experimentally validated miRNAs were identified that affected the co‐expression network. Using transcriptome analysis, suggested CHAC1 as a potential diagnostic predictor to diagnose AA.

Key Clinical Message Although immunodeficient patients are less prone to develop Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19)‐mediated cytokine storm, secondary infections can cause serious complications in this vulnerable population. They are more likely to develop opportunistic infections that can mimic the symptoms of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) infection. Herein, we presented a 27‐year‐old male patient of SARS‐CoV‐2 infection, who was complicated with Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP), following treatment with rituximab. First, he was hospitalized for 5 days with fever, cough, and dyspnea due to COVID‐19 infection, and treated with remdesivir and glucocorticoid. Then, he has been referred to our center with cough, dyspnea, body pain, and fever. Due to persistent fever, the progression of pulmonary lesions, and reduced oxygen saturation, we began treatment with piperacillin + tazobactam, vancomycin, and levofloxacin. Nevertheless, the patient's fever did not stop after the aforementioned empiric treatment and his condition got worse and he was admitted to the intensive care unit. The result of BAL fluid, tested for P. jirovecii by RT‐PCR, turned out to be positive. Therefore, we started trimethoprim‐sulfamethoxazole and dexamethasone, which improved his condition. We hope this article helps clinicians consider causes other than COVID‐19, especially opportunistic infections such as PJP, in patients with respiratory symptoms and fever.

Abstract Background Giant axonal neuropathy (GAN) is a progressive childhood hereditary polyneuropathy that affects both the peripheral and central nervous systems. Disease‐causing variants in the gigaxonin gene (GAN) cause autosomal recessive giant axonal neuropathy. Facial weakness, nystagmus, scoliosis, kinky or curly hair, pyramidal and cerebellar signs, and sensory and motor axonal neuropathy are the main symptoms of this disorder. Here, we report two novel variants in the GAN gene from two unrelated Iranian families. Methods Clinical and imaging data of patients were recorded and evaluated, retrospectively. Whole‐exome sequencing (WES) was undertaken in order to detect disease‐causing variants in participants. Confirmation of a causative variant in all three patients and their parents was carried out using Sanger sequencing and segregation analysis. In addition, for comparing to our cases, we reviewed all relevant clinical data of previously published cases of GAN between the years 2013–2020. Results Three patients from two unrelated families were included. Using WES, we identified a novel nonsense variant [NM_022041.3:c.1162del (p.Leu388Ter)], in a 7‐year‐old boy of family 1, and a likely pathogenic missense variant [NM_022041.3:c.370T>A (p.Phe124Ile)], in two affected siblings of the family 2. Clinical examination revealed typical features of GAN‐1 in all three patients, including walking difficulties, ataxic gait, kinky hair, sensory‐motor polyneuropathy, and nonspecific neuroimaging abnormalities. Review of 63 previously reported cases of GAN indicated unique kinky hair, gait problem, hyporeflexia/areflexia, and sensory impairment were the most commonly reported clinical features. Conclusions One homozygous nonsense variant and one homozygous missense variant in the GAN gene were discovered for the first time in two unrelated Iranian families that expand the mutation spectrum of GAN. Imaging findings are nonspecific, but the electrophysiological study in addition to history is helpful to achieve the diagnosis. The molecular test confirms the diagnosis.

Abstract Background and Aims Upper limb disabilities are one of the most common disabilities among different groups of people who always need rehabilitation. One of the important methods in helping to carry out efficient rehabilitation processes and exercises is the use of games. The aim of this study is to identify the parameters necessary to design a successful rehabilitation game and the outcomes of using these games in upper limb disabilities rehabilitation. Methods This scoping review was conducted by searching the Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus. The eligibility criteria were: any form of game‐based upper limb rehabilitation, published in a peer‐reviewed journal, published in English, and not include articles that did not focus upper limb disabilities rehabilitation games, review, meta‐analysis, or conference papers. Analysis of collected data was done using descriptive statistics (frequency and percentage). Results The search strategy retrieved 537 relevant articles. Finally, after removing irrelevant and repetitive articles, 21 articles were included in this study. Among the six categories of diseases or complications of upper limb disabilities, games were mostly designed for stroke patients. Smart wearables, robots and telerehabilitation were three technologies that were used for rehabilitation along with games. Sports and shooters were the most used games for upper limb disability rehabilitation. Among 99 necessary parameters for designing and implementing a successful rehabilitation game in ten categories. “Increasing the patient's motivation to perform rehabilitation exercises”, “Game difficulty levels”, “Enjoying and the attractiveness of the game for patients”, and “Providing positive or negative audiovisual feedback” were the most important parameters. “Improvement in musculoskeletal performance” and “Increasing users' enjoyment/joy of therapeutic exercises and their motivation to perform these exercises” were the most important positive outcomes, and “Mild discomfort such as nausea and dizziness when using games” was the only negative outcome. Conclusions The successful design of a game according to the parameters identified in the present study can lead to an increase in the positive outcomes of using games in the rehabilitation of disabilities. The study results indicate that upper limb therapeutic exercise augmented with virtual reality games may be highly effective in enhancing motor rehabilitation outcomes.

Abstract A new equivalent circuit model for aged‐polluted polymer outdoor insulators is proposed here. The structure of the model is constructed as such that it can be applied in investigating the effect of insulator aging and dry band discharge intensity on leakage current (LC) characteristics. To implement the capability of modelling aged insulators, the measured leakage currents from laboratory tests on field aged MV insulators with different level of aging and hydrophobicity were examined. Furthermore, the samples were artificially polluted and the corresponding measured leakage currents from laboratory tests were employed as references. The proposed circuit model can consider the effect of pollution by its topology and represents the aging phenomenon of insulator by the changes in the values of its elements. High similarity between test results and model outputs has confirmed model ability to represent aging effect on LC characteristics. Finally, mathematical equations for model parameters in terms of aging level are extracted using curve fitting, in order to predict the age and life‐time of polymer insulator.

Introduction Occlusion of the internal carotid artery (ICA), caused by atherosclerotic thrombosis, arterial embolism, or dissection, is associated with high morbidity and mortality of acute stroke. Commonly, these lesions are managed with aggressive medical treatment due to their chronic and usually irreversible nature. Spontaneous recanalization of the occluded ICA has been described in rare instances. Methods We present a report here on three cases with spontaneous recanalization of complete occluded carotid arteries. Results Our first patient was a 62‐year‐old male with a history of hypertension, who presented with transient left eye vision loss. CT angiography of the head and neck (CTA HN) demonstrated left ICA complete occlusion while the left middle cerebral artery (MCA) and anterior cerebral arteries (ACA) were patent. He was treated with apixaban. At the two‐month follow‐up, the repeat CTA HN demonstrated complete recanalization of the left ICA. The etiology of the occlusion remained cryptogenic. Our second patient was a 71‐year‐old male with a prior history of right carotid endarterectomy, peripheral vascular disease, coronary artery disease, hypertension, and dyslipidemia, who presented with acute right MCA stroke. Work‐up with CTA HN demonstrated right ICA complete occlusion. He was treated medically with aspirin and clopidogrel. Six months later, he presented with a two‐week history of intermittent confusion and left‐sided weakness. His MRI brain was negative foracute stroke. Interestingly, CTA HN demonstrated that the right ICA had complete recanalization. The cause of carotid thrombosis remained cryptogenic. Our third patient was a 46‐year‐old female with a history of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, remote low‐speed vehicle collision, and cervical spine chiropractic treatment (the last neck manipulation was about two years prior), presenting with sudden onset dizziness, right‐sided neck pain, and left homonymous hemianopia. Brain MRI showed acute right posterior cerebral artery (PCA) stroke. CTA HN revealed occlusion of the right ICA with a flare‐up appearance suggestive of a carotid dissection. She also had a right fetal PCA. She was treated medically with rivaroxaban. Four months later, a follow‐up MR angiogramof the neck showed a fully revascularized right ICA. Her hypercoagulable workup revealed that she had a rare form of breast cancer. Conclusions Although ICA occlusion is generally considered chronic and irreversible, our case series suggests that the lesion can have spontaneous recanalization with medical treatment. Further studies of characterizing carotid occlusion to predict recanalization are warranted.

Abstract Mycosis fungoides (MF) is the most common variant of primary skin T‐cell lymphoma. It typically manifests as an indolent progressing cutaneous eruption with erythematous scaly patches or plaques. Due to the nonspecific pathological findings, it can be easily misdiagnosed as psoriasis. A 34‐year‐old woman with a history of psoriasiform plaques for 12 years was referred to our dermatology clinic. In the beginning, the diagnosis of psoriasis was made and topical steroids were prescribed: it did not exhibit any clinical improvement. During the visit, skin biopsy was performed and the diagnosis of MF was confirmed. Treatment with PUVA, prednisolon, methotrexate, topical ointment including ucerin, urea, and clobetasol were initiated. Significant improvement in all lesions were observed after 1 month of the treatment, and within a year, the disease improved dramatically after PUVA therapy. In refractory cases of psoriasiform plaques that are progressive and/or ulcerative despite the optimal treatment, biopsy is required and a possible diagnosis of MF should be kept in mind.
