Abstract

Abstract Background Hepatoid adenocarcinoma of the stomach (HAS) is an extremely rare and unique malignant gastric tumor with a significantly worse prognosis than non‐hepatoid adenocarcinoma of the stomach (non‐HAS). The present study explored the clinicopathological features of HAS and non‐HAS patients to provide insights into HAS treatment strategies. Methods From December 26, 2023, we performed a comprehensive search of the PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Embase.com databases for relevant studies. Two authors independently screened the studies, evaluated their quality, extracted data, and performed the analyses. This study was registered with PROSPERO on January 2, 2024. Results Nine retrospective studies were included for analysis after screening 833 articles. A total of 350 and 924 patients were enrolled in the HAS and non‐HAS groups, respectively. While no significant differences were observed in age, sex, tumor size, T3 or T4 stage, and N2 or N3 stage between the two groups, the HAS group exhibited higher rates of lymph node metastasis (OR = 1.93, 95% CI: 1.19–3.13, p = 0.007), liver metastasis (OR = 3.45, 95% CI: 2.26–5.28, p

Abstract

Abstract Affect gas extraction efficiency to find out the optimum well location parameters, based on the gray correlation analysis of borehole diameter, borehole spacing, and extraction pressure three boreholes parameters that influence efficiency of gas extraction from the design of orthogonal experiment, using COMSOL simulate the effective radius of extraction under different experiments, and the effective radius of extraction for optimizing index quantitative gas extraction efficiency. The results showed that: factors affecting the gas extraction efficiency of the correlation between high and low aperture drilling, borehole spacing, and extraction from extraction negative pressure, it is concluded that the influence parameters of optimal layout parameter values, respectively, borehole diameter 8 cm and 3 m borehole spacing, extraction pressure 50 kPa, combined with the numerical simulation analysis using the optimal layout of gas drilling extraction from about 30 days. The decrease in gas pressure is about 45%, which basically meets the extraction standard, and the decreasing trend of gas pressure is obviously slowed down when the extraction time is longer than 30 days. The engineering experiment is carried out in the 9306 transport lane of a mine in Guizhou Province, and the results are basically consistent with the simulation results, which verify the rationality of the gray correlation analysis method to optimize the drilling parameters, and provide a theoretical basis for the optimization of drilling parameters.

3. Effect of varicella‐zoster virus infection and antiviral treatment on the risk for dementia: A meta‐analysis of observational studies

Abstract Background and purpose: There is increasing evidence to support a role for human herpes viruses in the development of neurodegenerative disorders; however, the association between varicella‐zoster virus (VZV) infection and dementia, and the effect of antiviral therapy on the risk for dementia remain unclear. Methods We searched PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library databases from their dates of inception to May 2023. Odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) served as indicators of effect sizes in evaluations of the effect of VZV infection and antiviral treatment on dementia risk. Subgroup analyses based on study design, study location, diagnostic criteria of dementia, and VZV subtype classification were also performed. Results A total of 10 studies with 316,846 dementia cases were included in the meta‐analysis. We found that any VZV infection (OR: 1.04, 95% CI: .97–1.12; p = .22), herpes zoster (HZ) (OR: 1.05, 95% CI: .96–1.13; p = .28), or HZ involving the cranial nerves (OR: 1.36, 95% CI: .76–2.43; p = .304) was not associated with an increased risk of dementia. The results of subgroup analyses were consistent with these findings. However, patients infected with VZV who received antiviral treatment had a lower OR than untreated patients infected with VZV. Compared to individuals not infected with VZV, antiviral therapy in those infected with VZV was associated with reduced risk for dementia. Conclusion The association between VZV infection and dementia may be masked by antiviral treatment. Further studies with longer follow‐up times that consider the severity of VZV infection and antiviral treatment are needed to clarify the contribution of VZV infection to the risk for dementia.

Abstract Salmonella is one of the most common zoonotic foodborne pathogens and can cause serious threats to public health and global economy. A dual‐mode biosensing platform was demonstrated based on cascaded signal amplification coupled with DNA‐functionalized Ag2S NPs@PB (Ag2S NPs@PB‐DNA) for ultrasensitive and selective Salmonella detection. Specifically, once Salmonella was recognized and captured by the control probe, the primer was released to trigger rolling circle amplification and generate a multimeric single‐stranded DNA (ssDNA) with repetitive sequences. The ssDNA could form multicomponent nucleic acid enzyme with cleavage activity to destroy multiple pieces of L‐DNA, achieving cascaded signal amplification and cleaving L‐DNA as a linker between DNA‐functionalized magnetite microspheres (MMs@DNA) and Ag2S NPs@PB‐DNA, leading to reduction in the capture of Ag2S NPs@PB by MMs@DNA. Due to the excellent photothermal properties of Ag2S NPs@PB under near‐infrared irradiation, the changes of temperature and pressure could be simultaneously monitored in the detection system, and the dual‐mode biosensing platform showed outstanding sensitivity, with a limit of the detection value of 100 CFU mL−1 in temperature and 101 CFU mL−1 in pressure. Moreover, the developed biosensing platform could successfully detect 5.7 CFU of Salmonella in spiked chicken breast after 4 h of enrichment. All the results show this study provides a new avenue for specific, sensitive, and convenient bacterial detection in food analysis and environment safety.

Abstract Background The risk of ischemic heart disease (IHD) due to the impact of gonadotropin‐releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists among female patients with breast cancer remains a controversy. Methods Information from the Registry for Catastrophic Illness, the National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD), and the Death Registry Database in Taiwan were analyzed. Female patients with breast cancer were selected from the Registry for Catastrophic Illness from January 1, 2000, to December 31, 2018. All the breast cancer patients were followed until new‐onset IHD diagnosis, death, or December 31, 2018. A Kaplan–Meier survival curve was drawn to show the difference between patients treated with and without GnRH agonists. The Cox regression analysis was used to investigate the effects of GnRH agonists and the incidence of IHD. Results A total of 172,850 female patients with breast cancer were recognized with a mean age of 52.6 years. Among them, 6071(3.5%) had received GnRH agonist therapy. Abstract Background Clinically, the pulse oxygen saturation of patients with chronic heart failure does not decrease significantly, and the clinical manifestations of labor‐related dyspnea are not typical. As such, it is difficult to make a rapid diagnosis. Objective To investigate changes in pulse oxygen saturation in patients with chronic heart failure and examine the relationship between B‐type natriuretic peptide (BNP) and normal pulse oxygen saturation. Methods A total of 80 hospitalized patients with chronic heart failure and increased BNP were randomly selected as the study group; the family members of 60 patients without dyspnea were randomly selected as the control group. The researchers measured the value of pulse oxygen saturation before and after upper arm compression, calculating the difference and analyzing the correlation between this difference and BNP values. The data were statistically analyzed using the SPSS Statistics 17.0 program. Results The decrease in pulse oxygen saturation in the study group was greater than in the control group; the decrease in pulse oxygen saturation of patients with chronic heart failure positively correlated with BNP. Conclusion The value of pulse oxygen saturation in patients with chronic heart failure decreased more than in the control group, and this difference positively correlated with BNP. The measurement of pulse oxygen saturation before and after upper arm compression is a simple and effective method for diagnosing and evaluating chronic heart failure.
