Abstract Background Our study aimed to evaluate change in sarcopenia, its defining components over 1 year follow‐up and investigate associations with subsequent cognitive decline, incident mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia among patients undergoing haemodialysis (HD). Methods In the multicentre, longitudinal study, 1117 HD patients aged 56.8 ± 14.3 years (654 men; and 463 women) from 17 dialysis centres in Guizhou Province, China, were recruited in 2019 and followed up for 1 year in 2020. Sarcopenia was diagnosed with Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia criteria using appendicular skeletal muscle mass index (ASMI) and handgrip strength (HGS). Body composition was measured using body composition monitor; body water, weight, and height were corrected to calculate ASMI. HGS was measured by mechanical handgrip dynamometer. Cognitive function was measured with Mini Mental State Examination. Multivariate linear, logistic regression models and subgroup analyses were employed to examine the associations of changes in sarcopenia, ASMI, and HGS with Mini Mental State Examination score change, and incident MCI, dementia. Results Four hundred fourteen (37.1%) patients had sarcopenia at baseline; during 1 year follow‐up, 257 (23.0%) developed MCI and 143 (12.8%) developed dementia. According to changes in sarcopenia, patients were stratified into four groups: non‐sarcopenia; non‐sarcopenia to sarcopenia; sarcopenia; and sarcopenia to non‐sarcopenia. HD patients in sarcopenia and non‐sarcopenia to sarcopenia groups had higher risk of MCI (34.8%, 32.0%, vs. 17.4%) and dementia (20.6%, 19.8%, vs. 8.7%), compared non‐sarcopenia group (P 60 years, and with low educational level. Conclusions Longitudinal associations were observed between new‐onset, persistent sarcopenia, and cognitive impairment. Early detection and intervention should be implemented to delay the onset of sarcopenia and improve cognitive health among HD patients.

Background It is uncertain whether rare NOTCH3 variants are associated with stroke and dementia in the general population and whether they lead to alterations in cognitive function. This study aims to determine the associations of rare NOTCH3 variants with prevalent and incident stroke and dementia, as well as cognitive function changes. Methods and Results In the prospective community‐based Shunyi Study, a total of 1007 participants were included in the baseline analysis. For the follow‐up analysis, 1007 participants were included in the stroke analysis, and 870 participants in the dementia analysis. Background. Serine proteinase inhibitors, clade B, member 3 (SerpinB3) and B4 are highly similar in amino acid sequences and associated with inflammation regulation. We investigated SerpinB3 and B4 expression and their roles in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). Methods. The expression of SerpinB3 and B4 in nasal mucosa tissues, brush cells, and secretions from CRSwNP patients was measured, and their regulation by inflammatory cytokines were investigated. Their functions were also analyzed using air–liquid interface (ALI)-cultured primary human nasal epithelial cells (HNECs) and transcriptomic analysis. Results. Both SerpinB3 and B4 expression was higher in nasal mucosa, brush cells, and secretions from eosinophilic (E) CRSwNP and nonECRSwNP patients than in healthy controls. Immunofluorescence staining indicated that SerpinB3 and B4 were primarily expressed in epithelial cells and their expression was higher in CRSwNP patients. SerpinB3 and B4 expression was upregulated by interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-5, IL-6, and IL-17a. Transcriptomic analysis identified differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in response to recombinant SerpinB3 and B4 stimulation. Both the DEGs of SerpinB3 and B4 were associated with disease genes of nasal polyps and inflammation in DisGeNET database. Pathway enrichment indicated that downregulated DEGs of SerpinB3 and B4 were both enriched in cytokine–cytokine receptor interactions, with CXCL8 as the hub gene in the protein–protein interaction networks. Furthermore, CXCL8/IL-8 expression was downregulated by recombinant SerpinB3 and B4 protein in ALI-cultured HNECs, and upregulated when knockdown of SerpinB3/B4. Conclusion. SerpinB3/B4 expression is upregulated in nasal mucosa of CRSwNP patients. SerpinB3/B4 may play an anti-inflammatory role in CRSwNP by inhibiting the expression of epithelial cell-derived CXCL8/IL-8.

Abstract Background Inhibition of CDK7, a potent transcription regulator, may bring new hope for treating pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), which is featured by large genetic heterogeneity and abundant KRAS mutations. This investigation aimed at exploring the discrepant efficacies of THZ1, a small‐molecule covalent CDK7 inhibitor, on PDACs with different KRAS mutations and the underlying mechanisms. Methods Associations of CDK7 expression with survival by KRAS mutations were first assessed. Effects of THZ1 on PDAC by different KRAS mutations were then investigated in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, the effects of THZ1 on gene transcription and phosphorylation of RNA polymerase II (RNAPOLII) in different KRAS mutant PDACs were assessed, and the effect of THZ1 on super‐enhancer activity was evaluated using chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing. Lastly, the effects of THZ1 on the binding of H3K27ac to PIK3CA and on the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signalling were analysed. Results High CDK7 expression was significantly linked to worse survival within PDAC patients carrying KRAS‐G12V mutation but not in those with KRAS‐G12D mutation. The apoptosis‐inducing effect of THZ1 was markedly stronger in KRAS‐G12V PDAC than KRAS‐G12D cancer. THZ1 significantly inhibited the growth of xenograft tumour with KRAS‐G12V mutation, and the inhibition was markedly stronger than for KRAS‐G12D tumour. In mini‐cell‐derived xenograft (CDX) models, THZ1 significantly suppressed KRAS‐G12V PDAC but not KRAS‐G12D cancer. THZ1 significantly suppressed the phosphorylation of RNAPOLII, and this effect was stronger in KRAS‐G12V PDAC (especially at ser5). KRAS‐G12V PDAC had more H3K27ac‐binding super‐enhancers, and the inhibition of THZ1 on super‐enhancer activity was also stronger in KRAS‐G12V PDAC. Furthermore, THZ1 significantly weakened the binding of H3K27ac to PIK3CA in KRAS‐G12V PDAC. THZ1 significantly suppressed the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway and its downstream markers, and this effect was stronger in KRAS‐G12V cells. Conclusions In this hypothesis‐generating study, THZ1 might selectively inhibit certain PDACs with KRAS‐G12V mutation more potently compared with some other PDACs with KRAS‐G12D mutation, which might be associated with its effect on super‐enhancer activity and the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signalling. Our findings might offer novel key clues for the precise management of PDAC and important evidence for future targeted trial design. Highlights THZ1 had a stronger effect on PDAC‐bearing KRAS‐G12V mutation than G12D mutation. Suppressive effect of THZ1 on phosphorylation of RNAPOLII was stronger in KRAS‐G12V than KRAS‐G12D PDAC. Inhibition of THZ1 on super‐enhancer activity and H3K27ac binding to PIK3CA was stronger in KRAS‐G12V PDAC. Suppressive effect of THZ1 on PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway was stronger in KRAS‐G12V PDAC.

Abstract Nonprogrammed cell death (NPCD) and programmed cell death (PCD) are two types of cell death. Cell death is significantly linked to tumor development, medication resistance, cancer recurrence, and metastatic dissemination. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of cell death is essential for the treatment of cancer. Pyroptosis is a kind of PCD distinct from autophagy and apoptosis in terms of the structure and function of cells. The defining features of pyroptosis include the release of an inflammatory cascade reaction and the expulsion of lysosomes, inflammatory mediators, and other cellular substances from within the cell. Additionally, it displays variations in osmotic pressure both within and outside the cell. Pyroptosis, as evidenced by a growing body of research, is critical for controlling the development of inflammatory diseases and cancer. In this paper, we reviewed the current level of knowledge on the mechanism of pyroptosis and inflammasomes and their connection to cancer and inflammatory diseases. This article presents a theoretical framework for investigating the potential of therapeutic targets in cancer and inflammatory diseases, overcoming medication resistance, establishing nanomedicines associated with pyroptosis, and developing risk prediction models in refractory cancer. Given the link between pyroptosis and the emergence of cancer and inflammatory diseases, pyroptosis‐targeted treatments may be a cutting‐edge treatment strategy.

ABSTRACT Purpose This pilot study explored the use of fast volumetric four‐dimensional magnetic resonance imaging (4D‐MRI) for motion characterization in the abdomen, ultimately aiming for the translation to future MR‐guided radiotherapy (MRgRT) applications. Methods Nine healthy subjects and four patients underwent shallow free‐breathing abdominal scans on a 1.5 T MR simulator using a fast volumetric 4D‐MRI sequence with a temporal resolution up to three frames per second. The reference left/right liver and gross target volume (GTV) were segmented on the first frame, and the following consecutive dynamic images were nonlinearly registered to the reference to create the dynamic binary masks. Respiratory probabilistic volumes (rPPVj,i%), which correspond to the probability of being occupied by a volume of interest (VOI), were generated by summating the dynamic binary masks. Subject‐specific rPPV144,0% and rPPV144,5% of the GTV were quantitatively compared to the 4D computed tomography (CT)‐determined internal target volume (ITV) using the dice similarity coefficient (DSC), volumetric difference, and Hausdorff distance (HD). Results The results showed slightly smaller rPPV144,0% and rPPV144,5% but larger DSC and small HD compared to the 4D‐CT‐determined ITV, which preliminarily demonstrates the feasibility and capability of characterizing abdominal respiratory motion using the volumetric 4D‐MRI‐derived rPPV approach. Conclusion The potential usefulness of fast volumetric 4D‐MRI for personalized motion management in future MRgRT is proposed.

Abstract Objective We aimed to determine the planning target volume margins applicable to magnetic resonance‐guided stereotactic body radiation therapy (MRgSBRT) of localized prostate cancer on a 1.5 T MR‐Linac. Methods A total of 10 patients with low‐ to intermediate‐risk prostate cancer were retrospectively enrolled. All patients received five‐fraction MRgSBRT treatments, and underwent daily endorectal ballooning and bladder control. Five patients were implanted with the hydrogel rectal spacer. Three MR scans at each fraction were acquired to evaluate the intrafractional prostate motion. The required planning target volume margin was determined using the van Herk margin recipe based on direct MR‐MR prostate registration. The set‐up margin for localization using bony anatomy was also estimated. Results The mean and standard deviation of translational displacement in left‐right (LR), superior‐inferior (SI), and anterior‐posterior (AP) directions were –0.3 ± 0.7, 2.0 ± 1.5, and 1.4 ± 1.1 mm, respectively. Planning target volume margins over the MRgSBRT fraction duration were 2.8 (LR), 5.3 (SI), and 3.9 mm (AP). Set‐up margins were estimated to 2.6 (LR), 3.3 (SI), and 3.3 mm (AP). Prostate motion increased considerably with treatment duration. Adapt‐to‐position had smaller intrafractional motions than adapt‐to‐shape. The rectal spacer insignificantly (p > 0.1) reduced the prostate motion in SI and AP. Conclusion Online workflow efficiency enhancement and intrafractional motion monitoring are vital for planning target volume margin reduction and precision enhancement in MRgSBRT.

Objective. We aim to evaluate the impact of diabetes management shared care clinic (DMSCC) on glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) compliance and self-management abilities in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods. This study was a prospective cohort study of patients with T2DM participating in the DMSCC. At baseline and after management, the HbA1c levels were measured, the HbA1c compliance rate were calculated, and the Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities-6 (SDSCA-6), Diabetes Empowerment Scale-DAWN Short Form (DES-DSF), and Problem Areas in Diabetes Scale—Five-item Short Form (PAID-5) were completed. Abstract Whether the definition of hypertension according to 2017 AHA/ACC guidelines and blood pressure (BP) changes was related to the increased risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD) remained debated. This prospective cohort study aimed to investigate the association of BP and long‐term BP change with CKD risk with different glucose metabolism according to the new hypertension guidelines. This study examined 12 951 participants and 11 183 participants derived from the older people cohort study, respectively. Participants were divided into three groups based on blood glucose and the risks were assessmented by the logistic regression model. Abstract Axonal projection conveys neural information. The divergent and diverse projections of individual neurons imply the complexity of information flow. It is necessary to investigate the relationship between the projection and functional information at the single neuron level for understanding the rules of neural circuit assembly, but a gap remains due to a lack of methods to map the function to whole‐brain projection. Here an approach is developed to bridge two‐photon calcium imaging in vivo with high‐resolution whole‐brain imaging based on sparse labeling with the genetically encoded calcium indicator GCaMP6. Reliable whole‐brain projections are captured by the high‐definition fluorescent micro‐optical sectioning tomography (HD‐fMOST). A cross‐modality cell matching is performed and the functional annotation of whole‐brain projection at the single‐neuron level (FAWPS) is obtained. Applying it to the layer 2/3 (L2/3) neurons in mouse visual cortex, the relationship is investigated between functional preferences and axonal projection features. The functional preference of projection motifs and the correlation between axonal length in MOs and neuronal orientation selectivity, suggest that projection motif‐defined neurons form a functionally specific information flow, and the projection strength in specific targets relates to the information clarity. This pipeline provides a new way to understand the principle of neuronal information transmission.

Abstract Baicalein is a biologically important flavonoid in extracted from the Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, which can effectively inhibit the influenza virus. This study aimed to analyze the safety and pharmacokinetic (PK) characteristics of baicalein tablets in healthy Chinese subjects and provide more information for phase II clinical trials. In this multiple‐ascending‐dose placebo‐controlled trial, 36 healthy subjects were randomized to receive 200, 400, and 600 mg of baicalein tablet or placebo once daily on day 1 and day 10, 3 times daily on days 4–9. All groups were intended to produce safety and tolerability outcomes (lowest dose first). Blood and urine samples were collected from subjects in the 600 mg group for baicalein PK analysis. Our study had shown that Baicalein tablet was generally safe and well‐tolerated. All adverse events were mild and resolved without any intervention except one case of fever reported in the 600 mg group, which was considered as moderate but not related with baicalein as judged by the investigator. Oral baicalein tablets were rapidly absorbed with peak plasma levels being reached within 2 h after multiple administration. The highest urinary excretion of baicalein and its metabolites peaked in 2 h, followed by 12 h, with a double peak trend.

Abstract Background The C–C chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5) is mainly expressed in a variety of immune cells. It interacts with multiple chemokine ligands that mediate the trafficking and recruitment of effector cells toward sites of inflammation. CCR5 not only plays a critical role in cell growth, activation, differentiation, adhesion, and migration but also participates in the development of acute graft‐versus‐host disease (GVHD) after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation. Methods This is a literature review article. The research design method is an evidence‐based rapid review. The present discourse aim is first to scrutinize and assess the available literature on CCR5 and acute GVHD. Standard literature and database searches were implemented, gathered relevant material, and extracted information was then assessed. Results CCR5 is a marker of GVHD effector cells, and CCR5 expression is elevated when acute GVHD occurs. CCR5 blockade with maraviroc in clinical trials results in a low incidence of acute GVHD. The immune mechanism includes that CCR5 blockade inhibits donor T cell migration and recruitment toward target organs, reduces the absolute numbers of donor T cells, is capable of slightly suppressing dendritic cell maturation, and reduces the percentage of Th1 and Th17 subsets. CCR5 blockade also inhibits internalization and activation of chemokines, inhibits proliferation and chemotaxis of T cells, and decreases the production of TNF‐α and IFN‐γ. In addition, there may be a form of crosstalk between CCR5 and CCR2. Inconsistently, infusion of CCR5−/− Tregs into lethally irradiated mice significantly increased the infiltration of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells into the liver, resulting in earlier and more severe GVHD. Conclusion This review indicates that CCR5 plays an important role in pathogenesis and development of acute GVHD. Elucidating its role in different immune cells will aid the development of targeted therapeutic treatments.

In order to stabilize the output fluctuation of wind power generation, this paper applies control strategy to control the action of the battery energy storage system according to the stability target, and quickly makes up for the system demand. In this paper, the optimal scheduling of new energy power system with energy storage is studied. This model predictive control is introduced into a certain system and optimized by model predictive control strategy so that the combination can match the predetermined expectations. Then, the model predictive control strategy is used to improve the schedulability of the wind farm. The objective function is to minimize the amount of action, and the composite output can track the scheduling instructions. Considering the cost, the way of storage and operation cost is optimized, and the penalty cost of wind abandonment is also reduced. Through rolling optimization and feedback correction, the model predictive control is optimized and solved, and finally, the action instructions of the storage system are obtained so that the storage output can effectively calm the wind. Power makes the combination schedulable. The optimized wind power/energy storage output is equivalent to the benign and dispatchable power supply of the power grid.

Objective. To investigate the association of weight loss daily of term infants with hospitalization in the first week after birth. Methods. This prospective cohort study was conducted among 1865 infants from May 2020 to June 2021, born in the Department of Obstetrics, Kunshan’s First People’s Hospital Affiliated to Jiangsu University and Huai’an Maternal and Child Health Care Center. The infants’ weight was collected daily in the hospital, and the weight loss was calculated daily. According to the weight loss daily, the infants were divided into 3 groups. Group A: the weight loss per day was less than 2% of birth weight, and the total weight loss was less than 10%. Group B: the weight loss per day was between 2 and 4% of the birth weight, and the total weight loss was less than 10%. Group C: the weight loss per day was more than 4% of the birth weight, or the total weight was more than 10%. The infants in group C were monitored carefully in the hospital or Outpatient Department (OPD) daily. The primary outcome was the incidence of hospitalization. Results. Of the 1865 term infants enrolled, 1052 were completed on the 7th day (356 in group A, 513 in group B, and 183 in group C). There was no significant difference among the three groups of subjects in terms of infant data, including birth weight, gender, Apgar scores, and gestational age. The number of C-sections and primiparas was substantially higher in groups C and B than in group A. The incidence of hospitalization in group C was significantly higher than that in group A and group B (30.6%, 12.1%, and 12.5%, respectively). The incidence of exclusive breastfeeding in group C was significantly lower than that in group A and group B (28.4%, 41%, and 38.4%, respectively). There was no significant difference between group A and group B in the incidence of hospitalization and exclusive breastfeeding. Most of the hospitalization was because of hyperbilirubinemia, and in group C, there were 2 babies because of dehydration fever and 3 because of hypoglycemia. Conclusions. The neonates whose weight loss daily after birth was more than 4% of the total weight loss of more than 10% had higher hospitalization rates.

Abstract Aims/Introduction Elevated serum cancer antigen 19‐9 (CA19‐9) levels have been found in diabetes patients in most observational studies; however, whether there is a causal association between CA19‐9 and diabetes mellitus is unclear. Materials and Methods Our study was carried out based on the Dongfeng‐Tongji cohort comprising 27,009 individuals. We first investigated the associations between serum CA19‐9 levels and incident diabetes mellitus risk in a prospective cohort study (12,700 individuals). Then, we explored the potential causal relationship between CA19‐9 and diabetes mellitus risk in a cross‐sectional study (3,349 diabetes mellitus patients and 8,341 controls) using Mendelian randomization analysis. A weighted genetic risk score was calculated by adding the CA19‐9 increasing alleles in five single‐nucleotide polymorphisms (rs17271883, rs3760776 and rs3760775 in FUT6, rs11880333 in CA11, rs265548 in B3GNT3, and rs1047781 in FUT2), which were identified in a previous genome‐wide association study on serum CA19‐9 levels. Results In the prospective study, a total of 1,004 incident diabetes mellitus patients were diagnosed during a mean 4.54‐year follow‐up period. Elevated serum CA19‐9 level was associated with a higher incident diabetes risk after adjustment for confounders, with a hazard ratio of 1.20 (95% confidence interval 1.11–1.30) per standard deviation (12.17 U/mL) CA19‐9 increase. Using the genetic score to estimate the unconfounded effect, we did not find a causal association of CA19‐9 with diabetes risk (odds ratio per weighted CA19‐9‐increasing allele: 0.99, 95% confidence interval 0.94–1.04; P = 0.61). Conclusions The present study did not support a causal association of serum CA19‐9 with diabetes risk. CA19‐9 might be a potential biomarker of incident diabetes mellitus risk.

Abstract Food waste (FW) is a severe environmental problem all over the world, and the recalcitrant organic residues (ROR) from FW treatment plant operations are also a critical environmental issue due to unsustainable treatment and disposal techniques. Requirements for FW and ROR complete exploitation with the establishment of recycling‐renewable technologies are very crucial. This paper review AD and pyrolysis as two promising technologies to degrade FW and its residues, creating numerous renewable bioenergy yields with value‐added. Existing oil/tar application methods in the AD suffered from various problems such as microorganism toxicity and limited productivity. Future upgrading techniques considering the second‐stage pyrolysis process to decompose oil/tars for syngas with high hydrogen content and enhanced bio‐methanation in the AD were addressed. Simultaneous pyrolysis by‐product recycle in the AD during the valorization of FW are aimed to have the features of sustainability toward increased bioenergy production, reactor efficiency, and agricultural application.

Abstract Objective Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is a common gynecologic malignancy characterized by extensive peritoneal metastasis and high mortality rate. ABHD11 Antisense RNA1 (ABHD11‐AS1) has recently been identified as a regulator of growth and metastasis in multiple tumors, including EOC. However, the biological function and potential mechanism of ABHD11‐AS1 in EOC remains poorly understood. Methods Immunohistochemistry, western blot, and qRT‐PCR analysis were used to determine the expression pattern of ABHD11‐AS1 and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in both EOC tissues and cell lines, respectively. Colony formation, transwell and wound healing assays were performed to evaluate the roles of EGFR and ABHD11‐AS1 on the capacity of cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Western blot analysis was performed to measure the regulation of EGFR pathway on STAT3. Moreover, chromatin immunoprecipitation was employed to demonstrate the interaction between ABHD11‐AS1 and STAT3. RNA immunoprecipitation was subjected to prove the direct binding between ABHD11‐AS1 and EZH2. Immunofluorescence staining was performed to measure the expression and localization of TIMP2. EOC mouse model was conducted for validating the role of ABHD11‐AS1 in vivo. Results EGFR and ABHD11‐AS1 were highly expressed in EOC tissues and cell lines. Knockdown of EGFR or ABHD11‐AS1 inhibited cell growth, migration, and invasion of EOC cells. Expression of ABHD11‐AS1 was regulated by the activation of EGFR signaling pathway, mediated by STAT3. Besides, ABHD11‐AS1 was shown to silence TIMP2 by binding to chromatin‐modifying enzyme EZH2. Furthermore, inhibition of EGFR pathway or ABHD11‐AS1 repressed the tumor growth of EOC. Conclusion We defined the regulatory relationship between the EGFR signaling pathway, ABHD11‐AS1, EZH2, and TIMP2 suggesting that ABHD11‐AS1 may act as an oncogene and a potential target for antitumor therapies in ovarian cancer.

Three‐dimensional (3D) [red, green and blue (RGB) + depth] saliency modelling can help with popular 3D multimedia applications. However, depth images produced from existing 3D devices are often with low quality, e.g. containing noises and holes. In this study, rather than relying on features or predictions directly derived from single depth images, the authors propose to encode deep layout features to facilitate the spatial‐aware saliency prediction. Specifically, they first generate coarse depth‐induced saliency cues which are careless of depth details. Then, to leverage the information of the high‐quality RGB image, they embed both low‐level and high‐level RGB deep features to refine the final prediction. In this way, they take both bottom‐up and top‐down cues together with spatial layout into account and achieve better saliency modelling results. Experiments on five public datasets show the superiority of the proposed method.

Abstract Aims/Introduction Pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are at a higher risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. The aim of the present study was to estimate the pooled prevalence of GDM in mainland China according to International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups criteria. Materials and Methods We carried out a systematic review by searching both English and Chinese literature databases. Random effects models were used to summarize the prevalence of GDM in mainland China. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses were carried out to address heterogeneity. Publication bias was evaluated using Egger's test. Results A total of 25 papers were included in the meta‐analysis, involving 79,064 Chinese participants. The total incidence of GDM in mainland China was 14.8% (95% confidence interval 12.8–16.7%). Subgroup analysis showed that the age, bodyweight and family history of diabetes mellitus could significantly increase the incidence of GDM. Conclusions To the best of our knowledge, this systematic review is the first to estimate the pooled prevalence of GDM among women in mainland China according to International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups criteria. The results of our systematic review suggest a high prevalence of GDM in mainland China, indicating that this country might have the largest number of GDM patients worldwide.

This study provided a content analysis of studies aiming to disclose how artificial intelligence (AI) has been applied to the education sector and explore the potential research trends and challenges of AI in education. A total of 100 papers including 63 empirical papers (74 studies) and 37 analytic papers were selected from the education and educational research category of Social Sciences Citation Index database from 2010 to 2020. The content analysis showed that the research questions could be classified into development layer (classification, matching, recommendation, and deep learning), application layer (feedback, reasoning, and adaptive learning), and integration layer (affection computing, role-playing, immersive learning, and gamification). Moreover, four research trends, including Internet of Things, swarm intelligence, deep learning, and neuroscience, as well as an assessment of AI in education, were suggested for further investigation. However, we also proposed the challenges in education may be caused by AI with regard to inappropriate use of AI techniques, changing roles of teachers and students, as well as social and ethical issues. The results provide insights into an overview of the AI used for education domain, which helps to strengthen the theoretical foundation of AI in education and provides a promising channel for educators and AI engineers to carry out further collaborative research.

Objective. Peer support is a concept of substantial significance to health scientists and practitioners today due to its focus shifting from disease treatment to health promotion. Effective incorporation peer relationships in support-enhancing interventions could improve quality care and health outcomes. More and more cases of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have been diagnosed in nonsmokers. In this study, the effects of peer-support nursing intervention on the pulmonary function and quality of life of nonsmoking patients with COPD were investigated. Methods. A total of 100 COPD nonsmoking patients admitted to our hospital from October 2018 to October 2020 were selected as study subjects. All nonsmoking patients were in accordance with the guidelines of COPD diagnosis and treatment issued by the Respiratory Medicine Branch of Chinese Medical Association, and they were not in the habit of smoking. According to the different interventions, the nonsmoking patients were divided into the control group (n = 50) and the observation group (n = 50). Among them, nonsmoking patients in the control group received routine care, and nonsmoking patients in the observation group received routine care and peer-support nursing. The difference on the scores of social support, self-management efficacy, healthy lifestyle, and the distance of six-minute walking were to be compared between the two groups before and after the intervention. Results. There was no significant statistical difference on the general information between the two groups in terms of age, gender, and course of disease (P>0.05). Before intervention, the social support score involving subjective support, objective support, utilization of support, and total score revealed slight difference between the two groups (P>0.05). However, after the intervention, the subjective support, utilization of support, and total score remained statistically different between the two groups (P0.05). Before intervention, there was no statistical difference in the self-management efficacy scores such as positive attitude, stress reduction, self-decision-making, and total score between the two groups (P>0.05). After the intervention, the two groups indicated statistical difference in the self-management efficacy scores (P0.05), and the abovementioned outcome measures indicated significant difference between the two groups after intervention (P0.05), but after the intervention, the observation group revealed a significantly longer distance of six-minute walking compared to the control group (P

The work has developed an innovative speed loop controller for the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) system. The main advantage of the presented method lies in the fact that the boundary of the lumped disturbance is not required. Under this case, the severe chattering caused by the inappropriate choice of parameters can be avoided. Finally, the simulation and experimental consequences are given to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed algorithm used to control a PMSM system subject to the lumped disturbance.

Background. The relationship between onset age of diabetes and diabetic retinopathy (DR) is controversy and not concluded. Therefore, this hospital-based case-control study aimed to investigate the influence of diabetes onset age on the development of DR in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D), independent of diabetic duration and HbA1c levels. Methods. A sample of 780 T2D patients with diabetic duration of 10–20 years and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) ≥7% were enrolled in the study. 338 T2D patients with onset age ≤45 years were further selected as cases (early onset) and 79 with onset age ≥ 55 years were chosen as controls (elderly onset). International Clinical Diabetic Retinopathy Disease Severity Scale was applied to estimate the severity of DR. Results. The prevalence of DR and proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) was notably increased in the early onset group. When stratified by duration of diabetes, the impact of younger age on the risk of DR turned to be greatest in patients with diabetic duration ≥15 years (OR = 5.202, 95% CI 2.625–10.310). In groups stratified by HbA1c, the risk of DR was highest in patients with younger onset age and HbA1c ≥ 9% (OR = 3.889, 95% CI 1.852–8.167). The associated daily maintenance effort and cost has been increasing with the growing use of high-voltage (HV) cable circuits. This study proposes a time-delay concept-based approach to maintenance scheduling of individual HV cable components, to allow periodicity of inspection to be optimised with consideration of time-delay interval between the instant of defect inception and final failure. Here, the progress from a defect to its resultant final failure can be represented as a two-stage process, one being a stochastic process of defect arrival and the other being a delay-time interval from defect to failure. Then an optimisation model is established to schedule maintenance activities based on the two statistical processes, where the objective function is set as the minimal maintenance cost. Cable circuits are divided into five components in accordance with the objects of inspection and testing. The components within different service ages are considered individually in the statistical models, and their accumulate failure numbers during each service year are used to automatically formulate and update periodicity of inspection. To illustrate the feasibility of the approach proposed, theoretical analysis on thousands of cable circuits are carried out. Results show that the economic expenditure could be reduced by 22.2% after optimisation.

Objective. To study the clinical manifestations, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings, and prognosis of delayed encephalopathy after carbon monoxide poisoning (DEACMP). Methods. The medical records of 20 patients with DEACMP were retrospectively reviewed. All the patients received hyperbaric oxygen treatment and other treatments as necessary. Results. The patients had diverse clinical manifestations, including memory deficits, personality changes, cognitive or executive function deficits, mood disorders, Parkinsonism, dystonia or other motor impairments, and akinetic mutism. MRI revealed lesions in the bilateral cerebral white matter and/or basal ganglia. Except for the pathologically confirmed DEACMP, epileptic seizure, hemiplegia, and vegetative state, the remaining symptoms had been improved, especially the cognitive impairment, which had been decreased from 95% to 25% and psychiatric symptoms also decreased from 95% to 55% at the 6-month follow-up. Conclusions. The prognosis of patients with DEACMP was poor, and they had a relatively severe disability. The early use of hyperbaric oxygen is of great significance to improve clinical efficacy and get a better prognosis.

This paper first presents a new generally perturbed compressed sensing (CS) model y=(A+E)(x+u)+e, which incorporated a general nonzero perturbation E into sensing matrix A and a noise u into signal x simultaneously based on the standard CS model y=Ax+e and is called noise folding in completely perturbed CS model. Our construction mainly will whiten the new proposed CS model and explore in restricted isometry property (RIP) and coherence of the new CS model under some conditions. Finally, we use OMP to give a numerical simulation which shows that our model is feasible although the recovered value of signal is not exact compared with original signal because of measurement noise e, signal noise u, and perturbation E involved.

Inner product transform principle reveals that the basis functions most relevant or similar to the fault features are pivotal to the meaningful fault detection. Customized multiwavelet methods and practices have continued to improve over the recent years, focused on two-scale similarity transform (TST), lifting transform (LT), and lifting scheme (LS). Due to the respective advantages and disadvantages, a comparative study on the multiwavelet construction methods by TST, symmetric and dissymmetric LT, and LS is discussed in the paper, covering the differences of construction theories, the synthetic analyses of construction strategies, and the comparison of waveform characteristics along with their applicable occasions. Comprehensively utilizing the capabilities of the construction methods, a novel customized multiwavelet library is established for the accurate fault detection. The proposed method is applied to incipient fault detection of rolling bearing for electric locomotive to verify the effectiveness and feasibility.
