Abstract Within the evolving landscape of fifth‐generation (5G) wireless networks, the introduction of network‐slicing protocols has become pivotal, enabling the accommodation of diverse application needs while fortifying defences against potential security breaches. This study endeavours to construct a comprehensive network‐slicing model integrated with an attack detection system within the 5G framework. Leveraging software‐defined networking (SDN) along with deep learning techniques, this approach seeks to fortify security measures while optimizing network performance. This undertaking introduces network slicing predicated on SDN with the OpenFlow protocol and Ryu control technology, complemented by a neural network model for attack detection using deep learning methodologies. Additionally, the proposed convolutional neural networks‐long short‐term memory approach demonstrates superiority over conventional ML algorithms, signifying its potential for real‐time attack detection. Evaluation of the proposed system using a 5G dataset showcases an impressive accuracy of 99%, surpassing previous studies, and affirming the efficacy of the approach. Moreover, network slicing significantly enhances quality of service by segmenting services based on bandwidth. Future research will concentrate on real‐world implementation, encompassing diverse dataset evaluations, and assessing the model's adaptability across varied scenarios.

ABSTRACT Background MiRNA let7d‐5p has been recently reported to be abnormally expressed in diabetes‐associated atherosclerosis (AS). However, it still remains unknown how let7d‐5p contributes to the process of atherosclerosis. Methods Twenty fresh tissues and a total of 28 wax block specimens from carotid endarterectomy procedures were obtained from the Luoyang Central Hospital affiliated to Zhengzhou University. The expression of let7d‐5p was assessed using quantitative RT‐PCR (qRT‐PCR). A series of in vitro experiments was used to determine the roles of let7d‐5p knockdown and overexpression in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). Results We discovered that the carotid plaques from diabetic patients had lower expression levels of miR let7d‐5p. In VSMCs, the expression of miRNA let7d‐5p was significantly lower in high glucose conditions compared with low glucose situations. The proliferation and migration of VSMCs were also inhibited by the overexpression of let7d‐5p, whereas the opposite was true when let7d‐5p was inhibited, according to gain and loss of function studies. Mechanically, let7d‐5p might activate the GSK3β/β‐catenin signaling pathway via binding to the high mobility group AT‐Hook 2 (HMGA2) mRNA in VSMCs. Additionally, GLP‐1RA liraglutide may prevent the migration and proliferation of VSMCs by raising let7d‐5p levels. Conclusions High glucose stimulated the proliferation and migration of VSMCs by regulating the let7d‐5p/HMGA2/GSK3β/β‐catenin pathway, and liraglutide may slow atherosclerosis by increasing the levels of miR let7d‐5p.

Abstract Lead‐free halide perovskites possess excellent photoelectric properties, making them widely used in the photoelectric fields. Herein, lead‐free double perovskite crystals (PCs) doped with manganese (Cs2NaInCl6:Mn2+) are successfully prepared by the more energy‐efficient crystallization method. The crystals emit bright orange‐red light under the ultraviolet (UV) lamp, showing unique optical properties. They have the highest photoluminescence quantum yield of 42.91%. The white light‐emitting diodes (LEDs) are fabricated using these perovskite crystals, which show a color rendering index of 92 and external quantum efficiency (EQE) as high as 16.3%. Furtherly, perovskite‐modified fiber paper made of aramid chopped fibers (ACFs) and polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) exhibited fluorescent properties under different conditions. This paper combines fiber composite technology with PPS fiber filter bags, which are widely used in environmental protection, for the first time and demonstrates functional fiber filter bags with fluorescent characteristics. This filter bag provides an idea for the automatic detection of industrial filtration. Meanwhile, after being exposed to industrial waste gas for 60 h, the filter bag can maintain superior fluorescence performance. In this study, lead‐free double perovskites are synthesized using an efficient method for preparing high‐performance LEDs and high‐stability fluorescent fibers. Concurrently, the application of perovskites in environmental protection is expanded.

Abstract Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder, characterized by social communication disability and stereotypic behavior. This study aims to investigate the impact of prenatal exposure to 1‐nitropyrene (1‐NP), a key component of motor vehicle exhaust, on autism‐like behaviors in a mouse model. Three‐chamber test finds that prenatal 1‐NP exposure causes autism‐like behaviors during the weaning period. Patch clamp shows that inhibitory synaptic transmission is reduced in medial prefrontal cortex of 1‐NP‐exposed weaning pups. Immunofluorescence finds that prenatal 1‐NP exposure reduces the number of prefrontal glutamate decarboxylase 67 (GAD67) positive interneurons in fetuses and weaning pups. Moreover, prenatal 1‐NP exposure retards tangential migration of GAD67‐positive interneurons and downregulates interneuron migration‐related genes, such as Nrg1, Erbb4, and Sema3F, in fetal forebrain. Mechanistically, prenatal 1‐NP exposure reduces hydroxymethylation of interneuron migration‐related genes through inhibiting ten‐eleven translocation (TET) activity in fetal forebrain. Supplement with alpha‐ketoglutarate (α‐KG), a cofactor of TET enzyme, reverses 1‐NP‐induced hypohydroxymethylation at specific sites of interneuron migration‐related genes. Moreover, α‐KG supplement alleviates 1‐NP‐induced migration retardation of interneurons in fetal forebrain. Finally, maternal α‐KG supplement improves 1‐NP‐induced autism‐like behaviors in weaning offspring. In conclusion, prenatal 1‐NP exposure causes autism‐like behavior partially by altering DNA hydroxymethylation of interneuron migration‐related genes in developing brain.

Abstract The efficient synthesis of chiral 2,2‐disubstituted indolin‐3‐ones is of great importance due to its significant synthetic and biological applications. However, catalytic enantioselective methods for de novo synthesis of such heterocycles remain scarce. Herein, a novel cyclizative rearrangement of readily available anilines and vicinal diketones for the one‐step construction of enantioenriched 2,2‐disubstituted indolin‐3‐ones is presented. The reaction proceeds through a self‐sorted [3+2] heteroannulation/regioselective dehydration/1,2‐ester shift process. Only chiral phosphoric acid is employed to promote the entire sequence and simplify the manipulation of this protocol. Various common aniline derivatives are successfully applied to asymmetric synthesis as 1,3‐binuclephiles for the first time. Remarkably, the observed stereoselectivity is proposed to originate from an amine‐directed regio‐ and enantioselective ortho‐Csp2‐H addition of the anilines to the ketones. A range of synthetic transformations of the resulting products are demonstrated as well.

Abstract Background Intervertebral disk degeneration (IVDD) is a common spine disease, and inflammation is considered to be one of its main pathogenesis. Apigetrin (API) is a natural bioactive flavonoid isolated from various herbal medicines and shows attractive anti‐inflammatory and antioxidative properties; whereas, there is no exploration of the therapeutic potential of API on IVDD. Here, we aim to explore the potential role of API on IVDD in vivo and in vitro. Methods In vitro, western blotting, real‐time quantitative polymerase chain reaction, and immunofluorescence analysis were implemented to explore the bioactivity of API on interleukin‐1 beta (IL‐1β)‐induced inflammatory changes in nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs). In vivo, histological staining and immunohistochemistry were employed to investigate the histological changes of intervertebral disk sections on puncture‐induced IVDD rat models. Results In vitro, API played a crucial role in anti‐inflammation and autophagy enhancement in IL‐1β‐induced NPCs. API improved inflammation by inhibiting the nuclear factor‐kappaB and mitogen‐activated protein kinas pathways, whereas it promoted autophagy via the phosphatidylinositol 3‐kinase/AKT/mammalian target of the rapamycin pathway. Furthermore, in vivo experiment illustrated that API mitigates the IVDD progression in puncture‐induced IVDD model. Conclusions API inhibited degenerative phenotypes and promoted autophagy in vivo and in vitro IVDD models. Those suggested that API might be a potential drug or target for IVDD.

Abstract Background Cervical cancer is one of the most common gynecological cancers. Accumulated evidence shows that long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play essential roles in cervical cancer occurrence and progression, but their specific functions and mechanisms remain to be further explored. Methods The RT‐qPCR assay was used to detect the expression of NEAT1 in cervical cancer tissues and cell lines. CCK‐8, colony formation, flow cytometry, western blotting, and Transwell assays were used to evaluate the impact of NEAT1 on the malignant behavior of cervical cancer cells. Glucose consumption, lactate production, ATP levels, ROS levels, MMP levels, and the mRNA expressions of glycolysis‐related genes and tricarboxylic acid cycle‐related genes were detected to analyze the effect of NEAT1 on metabolism reprograming in cervical cancer cells. The expressions of PDK1, β‐catenin and downstream molecules of the WNT/β‐catenin signaling pathway in cervical cancer cells and tissues were detected by western blotting, RT‐qPCR, immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry assays. Results This study investigated the role and possible molecular mechanism of lncRNA nuclear paraspeckle assembly transcript 1 (NEAT1) in cervical cancer. Our results showed that NEAT1 was highly expressed in cervical cancer tissues and cell lines. Downregulation of NEAT1 inhibited the proliferation, migration, invasion and glycolysis of cervical cancer cells, while overexpression of NEAT1 led to the opposite effects. Mechanistically, NEAT1 upregulated pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase (PDK1) through the WNT/β‐catenin signaling pathway, which enhanced glycolysis and then facilitated cervical cancer metastasis. Furthermore, NEAT1 maintained the protein stability of β‐catenin but did not affect its mRNA level. We also excluded the direct binding of NEAT1 to the β‐catenin protein via RNA pull‐down assay. The suppressive impact of NEAT1 knockdown on cell proliferation, invasion, and migration was rescued by β‐catenin overexpression. The WNT inhibitor iCRT3 attenuated the carcinogenic effect induced by NEAT1 overexpression. Conclusion In summary, these findings indicated that NEAT1 may contribute to the progression of cervical cancer by activating the WNT/β‐catenin/PDK1 signaling axis.

Abstract Hierarchical self‐assembly from simple building blocks to complex polymers is a feasible approach to constructing multi‐functional smart materials. However, the polymerization process of polymers often involves challenges such as the design of building blocks and the drive of external energy. Here, a hierarchical self‐assembly with self‐driven and energy conversion capabilities based on p‐aminophenol and diethylenetriamine building blocks is reported. Through β‐galactosidase (β‐Gal) specific activation to the self‐assembly, the intelligent assemblies (oligomer and superpolymer) with excellent photothermal and fluorescent properties are dynamically formed in situ, and thus the sensitive multi‐mode detection of β‐Gal activity is realized. Based on the overexpression of β‐Gal in ovarian cancer cells, the self‐assembly superpolymer is specifically generated in SKOV‐3 cells to achieve fluorescence imaging. The photothermal therapeutic ability of the self‐assembly oligomer (synthesized in vitro) is evaluated by a subcutaneous ovarian cancer model, showing satisfactory anti‐tumor effects. This work expands the construction of intelligent assemblies through the self‐driven cascade assembly of small molecules and provides new methods for the diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer.

Abstract Quinoline‐based fibroblast activation protein (FAP) inhibitor (FAPI)‐based positron emission tomography (PET) imaging and radioligand therapy (RLT) are being investigated for use in a wide variety of diseases, and recent results have been promising. This review summarizes the current status of FAPI radiopharmaceuticals in PET imaging of malignant tumors and benign conditions and compares their diagnostic efficacy with 18F‐fluorodeoxyglucose. In addition, we summarize the previously published FAP‐targeted RLT data and discuss its current clinical use and future potential. Our qualitative summary can inform future research directions, medical guidelines, and optimal clinical decision‐making.

Objective As conventional plates require repeated pre‐bending during surgery with poor matching, this study aimed to explore the design and application of an acetabular integrative anatomical plate (AIAP) via the lateral‐rectus approach (LRA) in fresh complex acetabular fractures for the good reduction and fixation. Methods We designed an AIAP based on the anatomical morphology of the Chinese people. From March 2016 to September 2021, 178 patients with fresh complex acetabular fractures treated with an AIAP via the LRA were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were treated by the LRA under general anesthesia in a supine position. The fragments were well reduced and fixed by AIAPs. The operation time and intraoperative blood loss were recorded. All patients underwent reexamination of pelvic X‐rays and CT scans and were followed up for over 1 year postoperatively. The reduction quality of fracture was evaluated according to the Matta criteria. The postoperative functional recovery was evaluated by modified Merle d'Aubigne‐Postel scoring system. Statistics were analyzed by SPSS 25.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Results All 178 patients went through the operation successfully. The time from injury to operation ranged from 5 to 21 days (8.7 ± 2.6 days). The operation time ranged from 35 to 150 min (75 ± 29 min). The intraoperative blood loss was from 250 to 1400 ml (440 ± 153 ml). According to the Matta score, the fracture reduction was evaluated as excellent in 131 cases, good in 31 cases, and poor in 16 cases, with an overall excellent and good rate of 91%. Four patients suffered wound fat liquefaction and healed after fresh dressing. All patients were followed up for 1 to 5 years without wound infection. All fractures were healed. At the last follow‐up, the modified Merle d'Aubigne‐Postel score results were evaluated as excellent in 125 cases, good in 26 cases, and fair in 27 cases, with an overall excellent and good rate of 84.8%. Postoperative complications included six cases of traumatic arthritis of the hips and two cases of femoral head necrosis. Conclusion The LRA with an AIAP can help expose, reduce, and fix anterior and posterior columns as well as the quadrilateral area of the acetabulum, which is capable of improving the reduction quality of complex acetabular fractures and shortening surgical time and blood loss, thus reaching a good clinical efficacy.

Abstract Background An experimental study was performed to improve the anterior approach model of intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD). Objective The aims of this study were to investigate the anterior approach model of IVDD for the cause of death, phenotypes, and underlying mechanisms of low back pain in mice. Method In this study, we conducted an anterior puncture procedure on a cohort of 300 C57BL/6J mice that were 8 weeks old. Our investigation focused on exploring the causes of death in the study population (n = 300) and assessing the time‐course changes in various parameters, including radiographical, histological, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry analyses (n = 10). Additionally, we conducted behavioral assessments on a subset of the animals (n = 30). Results Transverse vertebral artery rupture is a major factor in surgical death. Radiographical analyses showed that the hydration of the nucleus pulposus began to decrease at 2 weeks after puncture and obviously disappeared over 4 weeks. 3D‐CT showed that disc height was significantly decreased at 4 weeks. Osteophyte at the anterior vertebral rims was observed at 2 weeks after the puncture. As the time course increased, histological analyses showed progressive disruption of the destruction of the extracellular matrix and increased secretion of inflammatory cytokines and apoptosis. Behavioral signs of low back pain were increased between the puncture and sham groups at 4 weeks. Conclusion The improvement of anterior intervertebral disc approach model in mice will be useful to investigate underlying mechanisms and potential therapeutic strategies for behavior and phenotypes. Furthermore, the application of vibrational pre‐treatment can be used to increase the sensitivity of axial back pain in the model, thereby providing researchers with a reliable method for measuring this critical phenotype.

Abstract Cancer is a major cause of death globally, and traditional treatments often have limited efficacy and adverse effects. Immunotherapy has shown promise in various malignancies but is less effective in tumors with low immunogenicity or immunosuppressive microenvironment, especially sarcomas. Tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) have been associated with a favorable response to immunotherapy and improved survival in cancer patients. However, the immunological mechanisms and clinical significance of TLS in malignant tumors are not fully understood. In this review, we elucidate the composition, neogenesis, and immune characteristics of TLS in tumors, as well as the inflammatory response in cancer development. An in‐depth discussion of the unique immune characteristics of TLSs in lung cancer, breast cancer, melanoma, and soft tissue sarcomas will be presented. Additionally, the therapeutic implications of TLS, including its role as a marker of therapeutic response and prognosis, and strategies to promote TLS formation and maturation will be explored. Overall, we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of the role of TLS in the tumor immune microenvironment and suggest potential interventions for cancer treatment.

Abstract Electrochemical C–C and C–N coupling reactions with the conversion of abundant and inexpensive small molecules, such as CO2 and nitrogen‐containing species, are considered a promising route for increasing the value of CO2 reduction products. The development of high‐performance catalysts is the key to the both electrocatalytic reactions. In this review, we present a systematic summary of the reaction systems for electrocatalytic CO2 reduction, along with the coupling mechanisms of C–C and C–N bonds over outstanding electrocatalytic materials recently developed. The key intermediate species and reaction pathways related to the coupling as well as the catalyst‐structure relationship will be also discussed, aiming to provide insights and guidance for designing efficient CO2 reduction systems.

Abstract Scimitar syndrome is a rare congenital anomaly characterized by partial or total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage of the right lung to the inferior vena cava. We report a case of a 67‐year‐old female who presented with cough and dyspnea and was diagnosed with scimitar syndrome and pulmonary arterial hypertension based on comprehensive imaging and hemodynamic evaluation. This case highlights the importance of considering scimitar syndrome as a cause of pulmonary hypertension even in adult patients.

Objective Anterior dislocation of the sacroiliac joint (ADSIJ) is caused by strong violence, and because of its low morbidity, there are no standardized diagnostic and therapeutical guidelines at this moment. This study aims to explore the surgical techniques and preliminary outcomes of the lateral‐rectus approach (LRA) for treating ADSIJ. Methods A retrospective study was conducted of 15 patients with ADSIJ from January 2016 to January 2021. The patients' age ranged from 1.8 years old to 57 years old (37 ± 18 years old). All patients underwent open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) through the LRA. Eight patients were combined with lumbosacral plexus injury and underwent neurolysis during operation. Patients' fracture type, mechanism of injury, associated injuries, operation time and intraoperative bleeding volume were accessed by reviewing medical history. Quality of fracture reduction was evaluated with the Matta score. At 1‐year follow‐up, the functional rehabilitation was evaluated by the Majeed rehabilitation criteria. For those with lumbosacral plexus injury, the neuromotor function was evaluated using muscle strength grading proposed by the British Medical Research Council (BMRC) and recovery was recorded. Results All 15 patients underwent the operation successfully. The surgical time ranged from 70 to 220 min (126 ± 42 min), and the intraoperative blood loss ranged from 180 to 2000 mL (816 ± 560 mL). Eighty percent of the cohort (12/15) were rated as excellent and good in the Matta score for fracture reduction quality after operation without surgical incision‐related complications. At 1‐year follow‐up, the overall excellent and good rate was 73.3% (11/15) according to the Majeed criteria, the neuromotor function recovered completely in six cases and partially in two cases according to the BMRC muscle strength grading, and the recovery of sensory function was evaluated as excellent in six cases, good in one case and poor in one case, with an overall excellent and good rate of 87.5%. Conclusion The LRA can well expose the surrounding structures of the sacroiliac joint from the front, which helps surgeons reduce and fix the anterior dislocation of the sacroiliac joint under direct vision and effectively decompress the entrapment of the lumbosacral plexus to achieve better clinical efficacy.

Abstract Aims Frailty in older patients with stage B heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) has not been fully explored. We evaluated the prevalence and prognostic significance of frailty in older patients diagnosed with stage B HFpEF. Methods Our prospective cohort study included inpatients aged ≥65 years who were followed up for 3 years. Stage B HFpEF was defined as cardiac structural or functional abnormalities with a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) ≥ 50% without signs or symptoms. Frailty was assessed using the Fried phenotype. The primary outcome was 3‐year all‐cause mortality or readmission. Results Overall, 520 older inpatients diagnosed with stage B HFpEF [mean ± standard deviation age: 75.5 ± 6.25 years, male: 222 (42.7%)] were included in the study. Of these, 145 (27.9%) were frail. Abstract Soft tissue sarcoma (STS) is an uncommon malignancy that often carries a grim prognosis. Trophinin‐associated protein (TROAP) is augmented in a variety of tumors and can affect tumor proliferation. Nevertheless, the prognostic value and specific functions of TROAP in STS are still vague. Herein, we display that TROAP exhibits an augmented trend in STS, and its elevation correlates with a poor prognosis of STS. Furthermore, its reduction is related to increased immune cell infiltration, enhanced stroma, and elevation of immune activation. Meanwhile, the TROAP‐derived genomic signature is validated to predict patient prognosis, immunotherapy, and drug response reliably. A nomogram constructed based on age, metastatic status, and a TROAP‐derived risk score of an STS individual could be used to quantify the survival probability of STS. In addition, in vitro experiments have demonstrated that TROAP is overexpressed in STS, and the downregulation of TROAP could affect the proliferation, migration, metastasis, and cell cycle of STS cells. In summary, the TROAP expression is elevated in STS tissues and cells, which is related to the poor prognosis and malignant biological behaviors of STS. It could act as a potential prognostic biomarker for diagnosis and treatment of STS.

Abstract This study aimed to investigate the characteristics and prognosis of distant metastasis (DM) after primary treatment for early‐stage extranodal nasal‐type natural killer (NK)/T‐cell lymphoma (ENKTCL). A total of 1619 patients from the China Lymphoma Collaborative Group database were retrospectively reviewed. The cumulative incidence of DM was assessed using Fine and Gray's competing risk analysis. The correlation between DM sites was evaluated using phi coefficients, while DM sites were classified using hierarchical clustering. Regression analysis was used to assess the linear correlation between DM‐free survival (DMFS) and overall survival (OS). The 5‐year cumulative DM rate was 26.2%, with the highest annual hazard rate being in the first year (14.9%). The most frequent DM sites were the skin and soft tissues (SSTs, 32.4%) and distant lymph nodes (LNs, 31.3%). DM sites were categorized into four subgroups of distinct prognosis — distant LN, SST, extracutaneous site, and lymphoma‐associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis. SST or distant LN, solitary metastasis, and late‐onset DM demonstrated a relatively favorable prognosis. Contemporary chemotherapy significantly decreased DM rates and improved DMFS. Decreased DM rates were further associated with increased OS probabilities. Our findings improve the understanding of the variable clinical behaviors of early‐stage ENKTCL based on four distinct DM sites and thus provide guidance for future therapeutic decisions, metastatic surveillance, and translational trial design.

Abstract The increasing ground‐level ozone (O3) pollution resulting from rapid global urbanization and industrialization has negative effects on many plants. Nonetheless, many gaps remain in our knowledge of how ornamental plants respond to O3. Rose (Rosa hybrida L.) is a commercially important ornamental plant worldwide. In this study, we exposed four rose cultivars (“Schloss Mannheim,” “Iceberg,” “Lüye,” and “Spectra”) to either unfiltered ambient air (NF), unfiltered ambient air plus 40 ppb O3 (NF40), or unfiltered ambient air plus 80 ppb O3 (NF80). Only the cultivar “Schloss Mannheim” showed significant O3‐related effects, including foliar injury, reduced chlorophyll content, reduced net photosynthetic rate, reduced stomatal conductance, and reduced stomatal apertures. In “Schloss Mannheim,” several transcription factor genes—HSF, WRKY, and MYB genes—were upregulated by O3 exposure, and their expression was correlated with that of NCED1, PP2Cs, PYR/PYL, and UGTs, which are related to ABA biosynthesis and signaling. These results suggest that HSF, WRKY, and MYB transcription factors and ABA are important components of the plant response to O3 stress, suggesting a possible strategy for cultivating O3‐tolerant rose varieties.

Abstract Background Patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) suffer from a high incidence of premature ovarian failure, which might be due to cyclophosphamide gonadal toxicity, immune abnormalities, or other reasons. This study aimed to investigate whether the transplantation of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (HUC‐MSCs) can improve ovarian reserve function in lupus mice. Methods We used MRL/lpr mice to observe changes in ovarian structure and secretory function in SLE. Lupus mice and controls were injected with HUC‐MSCs at Weeks 12 and 16. We detected serum concentrations of the sex hormones estradiol (E2), follicle‐stimulating hormone (FSH), and anti‐Müllerian hormone (AMH), using enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assays. Hematoxylin and eosin staining showed ovarian tissue structure and enabled the counting of follicles. Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) and insulin‐like growth factor 1 (IGF‐1) expression in ovarian tissue was observed by immunohistochemistry. Abstract The increasingly severe energy crisis has strengthened the determination to develop environmentally friendly energy. And hydrogen has emerged as a candidate for clean energy. Among many hydrogen generation methods, biohydrogen stands out due to its environmental sustainability, simple operating environment, and cost advantages. This review focuses on the rational design of catalysts for fermentative hydrogen production. The principles of microbial dark fermentation and photo‐fermentation are elucidated exhaustively. Various strategies to increase the efficiency of fermentative hydrogen production are summarized, and some recent representative works from microbial dark fermentation and photo‐fermentation are described. Meanwhile, perspectives and discussions on the rational design of catalysts for fermentative hydrogen production are provided.

Abstract The performance of asymmetric supercapacitors (ASCs) is strongly restricted by the capacity gap between the positive and negative electrodes. To address this issue, two new electrode materials deriving from Co‐ and Fe‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs, Co‐TAMBA‐d, and Fe‐TAMBA‐d) through a single‐step sintering method have been developed by considering the superiorities of the derivatives of MOFs including large surface areas, sufficient metal‐atom‐doping content, and extreme surface wettability to the bath solution. The as‐prepared Co‐TAMBA‐d as a positive electrode delivers typical pseudocapacitive behavior with the improvement of capacity, which is better than those of pristine MOF materials, while Fe‐TAMBA‐d as negative electrodes displays better electrochemical behavior than those of activated carbon. ASCs based on these two electrodes exhibits excellent energy density and power density of 47 W h/kg and 1658 W/kg, respectively, where this device can maintain prominent cycling stability with capacity retention after 5000 cycles being about 75%. Furthermore, the capacity can feed a series of red light‐emitting diodes, which gives solid evidence of the potential utilization. These results can afford the feasibility of isostructural MOF derivatives as promising electrodes in novel ASCs.

Abstract In magma‐rich rifts, normal faulting is commonly thought to be induced by dike intrusions. However, whether fault slip occurs purely tectonically is unclear. An earthquake sequence starting with a Mw 5.5 earthquake occurred in December 2022 in northern Afar, a continental rift near breakup. InSAR measurements show that seismicity was caused by normal faulting alone, without involvement of magma movements. Our best‐fit InSAR models show that conjugate faults ruptured during the seismic sequence with mainly normal dip‐slip and total deformation corresponding to a Mw 5.7 event, in agreement with local seismic recordings. Our models show that tectonic faulting accommodates 26 cm of extension corresponding to ∼30 years of plate spreading without any link to magma. Our observations point toward significant along‐rift variation in the proportion of extension from faulting, potentially caused by along‐rift variations in rate of extension and/or from a spatially and temporally segmented supply of magma.

Abstract Background The gastrointestinal (GI) tract is the second most frequent extranasal involvement site for ENKTL. This study aimed to explore the clinicopathological features, treatment models, survival outcomes, and prognosis of gastrointestinal ENKTL (GI‐ENKTL). Methods The clinical data of GI‐ENKTL patients were extracted from the China Lymphoma Collaborative Group (CLCG) database and were analyzed retrospectively. Results A total of 30 patients were enrolled, with a male/female ratio of 4:1 and a median age of 42 years. Twenty‐nine patients received chemotherapy, of whom 15 patients received asparaginase‐based (ASP‐based) regimens. Moreover, seven received surgery and three received radiotherapy. The overall response an d complete remission rates were 50.0% and 30.0% for the whole cohort, 50.0% and 37.5% for patients treated with ASP‐based regimens, and 50.0% and 25.0% for those treated with non‐ASP‐based regimens, respectively. The median follow‐up was 12.9 months and the 1‐year overall survival rate was 40.0% for the whole cohort. For those patients in an early stage, ASP‐based regimens resulted in a superior 1‐year progression‐free survival rate compared to non‐ASP‐based regimens (100.0% vs. 36.0%, p = .07). However, ASP‐based regimens did not improve survival in patients at an advanced stage. Conclusion GI‐ENKTL still has a poor prognosis, even in the era of modern asparaginase‐based treatment strategies.

Abstract Flexible aqueous batteries have been thriving with the growing demand for wearable and portable electrical devices. In particular, flexible aqueous multivalent ion batteries (FAMIBs), the charge carriers of which include Zn2+, Al3+, Mg2+, and Ca2+, have great potential for development owing to their high safety, high elemental abundance in the Earth's crust, and a multi‐electron redox mechanism with a high theoretical specific capacity. Therefore, for a comprehensive understanding of this developing field, it is necessary to summarize the recent research progress of FAMIBs in a timely manner. Herein, the advancements of the state‐of‐the‐art FAMIBs are reviewed, and the prospects toward this field are also proposed. This study focuses on the rational material and configuration design for FAMIBs in recent studies to achieve high battery performances under deformation conditions, which is elaborated on by classification of the anode, cathode, hydrogel electrolyte, and configurations of FAMIBs. Besides, the electrochemical performance of FAMIBs under flexible conditions is also reviewed from the perspective of their working voltage, specific capacity, and cycling stability. Finally, the approaches to improve the performance of FAMIBs are comprehensively evaluated, followed by the outlook on the challenges and opportunities in future development of FAMIBs.

Objective To investigate whether the radiographic results are affected by cage position in single‐level transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF). Method Between January 2016 and June 2018, 130 patients (62 males and 68 females, average age: 55.28 ± 10.11 years) who underwent single‐level TLIF were analyzed retrospectively. Standing lateral radiographs of the lumbar spine were collected and evaluated preoperatively, postoperatively, and at the time of last follow‐up. Cage position in the fused segment was recorded using a central point ratio (CPR), which indicated the cage position. CPR is calculated by dividing the distance between the cage center point and the posterior extent of the superior endplate of the inferior vertebra by the length of the superior endplate of the inferior vertebra. Based on cage positions, the patients were divided into three groups: Anterior Group (n = 38); Middle Group (n = 68); and Posterior Group (n = 24). Segmental lumbar lordosis (SLL), foraminal height (FH), posterior disc height (PDH), and anterior disc height (ADH) were evaluated. A subanalysis was also performed on cage height within each group. Results The average follow‐up time of the patients was 35.20 ± 4.43 months. The mean values of CPR in Anterior Group, Middle Group, and Posterior Group were 0.64, 0.51, and 0.37, respectively. Public technology collaborative innovation serves as an essential driving force to implement the innovation-driven strategy as well as promote national and regional economic sustainable development. Moreover, strengthening the construction of public technology collaborative innovation system is likewise of great significance for strengthening the quality and technology level of enterprises, enhancing their independent innovation capability, and achieving strategic transformation. Particularly, collaborative innovation of public technology in accordance with mature private technology enables the efficient allocation of technological and economic resources. In practice, there are still issues including high innovation costs, insufficient motivation, and low efficiency of innovation. Existing research typically ignores the technical cooperation among multiple parties. An evolutionary game model of public technology collaborative innovation is established in this paper to examine the interaction mechanism among the government, enterprises, and technology owners. For the purpose of analyzing the dynamic evolution of public technology collaborative innovation behavior and its influencing factors, numerical simulation experiments were conducted with meaningful results: (1) Setting the cost and benefit allocation coefficient in a scientific manner contributes to system stability and promotes cooperation among game players. (2) Reasonable government subsidies and penalties can assist in the formation of an active technological innovation between the firm and the technology owner. (3) The pricing method of private technology transfer is a significant factor influencing the evolution process. Besides, the adoption of a technology pricing method on the basis of government interests is conducive to the formation of a stable tripartite win-win situation. The research on collaborative innovation of public technology is further expanded in this paper, offering a reference for the formulation of relevant policies aimed at promoting cooperation in public technology innovation.

Background and Aims. Drought harms the growth and productivity of grapevines; it thus poses a major threat to the development of viticulture in the background of ongoing climate change. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) can be used to enhance the resistance/tolerance of plants to environmental stress. The effects of AMF on the osmotic regulation, antioxidant substances, and expression of drought-responsive genes in the grapevine Vitis vinifera L. cv. Ecolly were studied. Methods and Results. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse in a completely randomized block design with four treatments: AMF colonization, well-watered; non-AMF colonization, well-watered; AMF colonization with drought stress; and non-AMF colonization with drought stress. The concentration of sucrose and proline in the leaves was higher in mycorrhizal grapevine than in nonmycorrhizal grapevine under drought stress. The concentration of malonaldehyde, hydrogen peroxide, superoxide anion, and glutathione and the activity of superoxide dismutase and peroxidase activity in leaves were higher in mycorrhizal grapevine than in nonmycorrhizal grapevine under drought conditions. AMF inoculation affected the expression of drought-responsive genes. Mycorrhization upregulated the expression of VvNCED, VvP5CS, VvSIP, VvPIP1;2, and VvTIP2;1 genes under drought stress. Conclusions. AMF could reduce the harm caused by drought stress by regulating osmosis, antioxidant activities, and the expression of key drought-responsive genes and aquaporin genes. Significance of the Study. This work provides insights into the physiological and biochemical activities influenced by AMF on grapevine under drought stress.

Travel time reliability assessment has been widely used in recent years to evaluate the performance of transportation networks and measure the operation level of transportation systems. Weather, as one of the important factors influencing travel time reliability, affects the relationship between the supply and requirement of urban road networks. Considering the traffic characteristics under different traffic conditions, a study on the influence of weather on travel time reliability under different conditions is proposed to predict the probability of travelers completing their trips within the expected time under different weather conditions. Based on the urban road network data and cab trajectory data of Harbin city, this paper correlates the floating vehicle location with the road network information through a hidden Markov model to reduce the influence of vehicle trajectory errors on the calculation results of path travel time. To analyze the entire distribution of extreme travel time and its impact on the reliability of travel time under various traffic situations, it captures the tail features of the travel time distribution based on extreme value theory. Then, to increase the predictability of each quantile, it combines a deep-learning LSTM model and a quantile regression model to create a probabilistic travel time prediction model utilizing combined layers. The proposed model is compared with the linear quantile regression and neural network quantile regression models, and the model is evaluated in terms of point prediction results and probabilistic prediction results, respectively, to ensure the accuracy of predictions from the model. As a result, the prediction accuracy of the model in this paper is greatly improved, and the degree of violating quantile constraints is greatly reduced.

Background. Several studies have been conducted to investigate the role of cell division cycle-associated 5 (CDCA5) in cancer. Its role in breast cancer, however, remains unknown. Methods. The Gene Expression Omnibus and Cancer Genome Atlas Program databases provided the open-access information needed for the research. The CCK8 and colony formation assays were used to measure cell proliferation. The capacity of breast cancer cells to invade and migrate was assessed using the transwell assay. Results. In our study, CDCA5 was identified as the interested gene through a series of bioinformatics analysis. We found a higher CDCA5 expression level in tissue and cells of breast cancer. Meanwhile, CDCA5 has been linked to increased proliferation, invasion, and migration of breast cancer cells, which was also associated with worse clinical features. The biochemical pathways, in which CDCA5 was engaged, were identified using biological enrichment analysis. Immune infiltration research revealed that CDCA5 was linked to enhanced activity of several immune function terms. Meanwhile, DNA methylation might be responsible for the aberrant level of CDCA5 in tumor tissue. In addition, CDCA5 could significantly increase the paclitaxel and docetaxel sensitivity, indicating that it has the potential for clinical application. Also, we found that CDCA5 is mainly localized in cell nucleoplasm. Moreover, in the breast cancer microenvironment, we found that CDCA5 is mainly expressed in malignant cells, proliferation T cells, and neutrophils. Conclusion. Overall, our findings suggest that CDCA5 is a potential prognostic indicator and target for breast cancer, which can indicate the direction of the relevant research.

Ammonia is a key risk factor in intensive aquaculture systems. This experiment is aimed at investigating the influence of dietary protein levels on genetically improved farmed tilapia (GIFT, Oreochromis niloticus) under chronic ammonia stress. GIFT juveniles of 4.00±0.55 g were exposed to high ammonia level at 0.88 mg/L and fed with six diets comprising graded protein levels at 22.64%, 27.26%, 31.04%, 35.63%, 38.47%, and 42.66% for 8 weeks. The fish in negative control was fed the diet with 31.04% protein in normal water (0.02 mg ammonia/L water). Our results showed that high ammonia exposure (0.88 mg/L) caused significant decrease in fish growth performance, hematological parameters, liver antioxidant enzymes (catalase and glutathione peroxidase), and gill Na+- and K+-dependent adenosine triphosphatase (Na+/K+-ATP) activity. When fish were under high ammonia exposure, the weight gain rate, special growth rate, feed efficiency, and survival rate elevated significantly with dietary protein supplementation increase to 35.63%, whereas protein efficiency ratio, hepatosomatic index, and viscerosomatic index showed a decreased tendency. Dietary protein administration significantly enhanced crude protein but reduced crude lipid contents in the whole fish. Fish fed diets with 35.63%-42.66% protein had higher red blood cell counts and hematocrit percentage than fish fed 22.64% protein diet. The values of serum biochemical indices (lactate dehydrogenase, aspartate aminotransferase, and alanine aminotransferase), hepatic antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase), and gill Na+/K+-ATP activity were all elevated with the increment of dietary protein. Moreover, histological analysis indicated that dietary protein administration could prevent the ammonia-induced damages in fish gill, kidney, and liver tissues. Based on weight gain rate as a response criterion, the optimal dietary protein requirement for GIFT juveniles under chronic ammonia stress was 37.9%.

Objective. Many stroke victims have severe swallowing problems. Previous neuroimaging studies have found that several brain regions scattered in the frontal, temporal, and parietal lobes, such as Brodmann’s areas (BA) 6, 21, and 40, are associated with swallowing function. This study sought to investigate changes in swallowing function and resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) in stroke patients with dysphagia following action observation treatment. It also sought to detect changes in brain regions associated with swallowing in stroke patients. Methods. In this study, 12 healthy controls (HCs) and 12 stroke patients were recruited. Stroke patients were given 4 weeks of action observation therapy. In order to assess the differences in mfALFF values between patients before treatment and HCs, the fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations (fALFF) in three frequency bands (conventional frequency band, slow-4, and slow-5) were calculated for fMRI data. The significant brain regions were selected as regions of interest (ROIs) for subsequent analysis. The mfALFF values were extracted from ROIs of the three groups (patients before and after treatment and HCs) and compared to assess the therapeutic efficacy. Results. In the conventional band, stroke patients before treatment had higher mfALFF in the inferior temporal gyrus and lower mfALFF in the calcarine fissure and surrounding cortex and thalamus compared to HCs. In the slow-4 band, there was no significant difference in related brain regions between stroke patients before treatment and HCs. In the slow-5 band, stroke patients before treatment had higher mfALFF in inferior cerebellum, inferior temporal gyrus, middle frontal gyrus, and lower mfALFF in calcarine fissure and surrounding cortex compared to HCs. We also assessed changes in aberrant brain activity that occurred both before and after action observation therapy. The mfALFF between stroke patients after therapy was closed to HCs in comparison to the patients before treatment. Conclusion. Action observation therapy can affect the excitability of certain brain regions. The changes in brain function brought about by this treatment may help to further understand the potential mechanism of network remodeling of swallowing function.

Abstract Although photosynthetic multiprotein complexes have received major attention, our knowledge about the assembly of these proteins into functional complexes in plants is still limited. In the present study, we have identified a chlorophyll‐deficient mutant, pale‐green leaf 1 (pgl1), in rice that displays abnormally developed chloroplasts. Map‐based cloning of this gene revealed that OsPGL1 encodes a chloroplast targeted protein homologous to the 54‐kDa subunit of the signal recognition particle (cpSRP54). Immunoblot analysis revealed that the accumulation of the PSI core proteins PsaA and PsaB, subunits from the ATP synthase, cytochrome, and light‐harvesting complex (LHC) is dramatically reduced in pgl1. Blue native gel analysis of thylakoid membrane proteins showed the existence of an extra band in the pgl1 mutant, which located between the dimeric PSII/PSI‐LHCI and the monomeric PSII. Immunodetection after 2D separation indicated that the extra band consists of the proteins from the PSI core complex. Measurements of chlorophyll fluorescence at 77 K further confirmed that PSI, rather than PSII, was primarily impaired in the pgl1 mutant. These results suggest that OsPGL1 might act as a molecular chaperone that is required for the efficient assembly and specific integration of the peripheral LHCI proteins into the PSI core complex in rice.

Objective To evaluate whether it is safe and effective for orthopaedic medical staff to provide support to the work against COVID‐19. Methods One hundred and twenty‐two orthopaedic medical staff from the orthopaedic center of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University were included in this retrospective investigation. A total of 43 surgeons and 69 nurses provided medical support in the treatment of COVID‐19 patients from 1 January 2020 to 8 April 2020 in four different hospitals in Wuhan. We collected data on the age, gender, and body temperature of orthopaedic medical staff, as well as the results for their chest CT scans, SARS‐CoV‐2 RNA, SARS‐CoV‐2 IgM and SARS‐CoV‐2 IgG tests, and training and examinations on COVID‐19 knowledge. We also collected data on the time span of work, the number of infected staff during the support period, the number of COVID‐19 patients the surgeons treated and the cure rate, the performance of the surgeons as assessed by the specialists and patients, and the number of infected staff during the pandemic. Results Among the 49 surgeons and 73 nurses, 43 surgeons and 69 nurses provided support against COVID‐19. A total of 12 surgeons and 11 nurses provided support in the fields of respiration, intensive care, and emergency. A total of 34 surgeons and 58 nurses worked in the designated wards restructured for COVID‐19 in the orthopaedic building. The average time span of work for the surgeons and nurses was 14.78 ± 3.64 days and 24.77 ± 7.58 days, respectively. No staff were infected during the support period. Over 1000 patients were received in the fever clinic by orthopaedic surgeons. The overall number of the treated hospitalized patients was 622. Among these patients, 226 cases were mild, 318 were mild to moderate, and 58 were severe or critical. The cure rate was 96.01%, 99.37%, and 52.00% respectively. The performance of the surgeons was scored 87.02 ± 3.17 and 90.69 ± 3.58 by the specialists and the patients, respectively. During the whole pandemic, 3 surgeons and 3 nurses who did not participate in the support work were infected in the early stages. The morbidity of all the orthopaedic staff was 4.92% during the whole pandemic, while no one was infected during the support work. Conclusion Our investigation indicated that although they worked outside their specialty, it was safe and effective for the orthopaedic staff to provide medical support in the work against COVID‐19 with adequate precautions and proper training.

Abstract The mechanical damage and failure of cement sheaths in gas storage wells under cyclic loading have been studied extensively. However, because the test device cannot restore the wellbore condition, most studies have been theoretical or regular experimental. If the load‐bearing mode and stress environment in a test device differ from those in a wellbore, then the damage and failure modes will deviate from what occurs in the actual wellbore. Therefore, it is necessary to explore a method that restores the wellbore condition and design a wellbore simulation device that reveals the deformation and damage of the cement sheath. In this study, the development laws of microannulus and microcracks in the cement sheath were studied by triaxial cyclic loading, low‐field nuclear magnetic resonance imaging, and scanning electron microscopy. A device to evaluate cement sheath integrity was then developed. A stress equivalence method was proposed, based on the principle that the stresses at the first and second interfaces of the device are equal to those of the wellbore cement sheath. This method was used to design material, size, and experimental conditions to simulate the load‐deformation law of a cement sheath in a gas storage well. The damage failure mechanism was investigated using the simulation results and computed tomography. Micropores and microcracks in the cement sheath increased continuously under cyclic loading. Damage accumulated, causing strength failure as the period of the cyclic loading increased. Plastic deformation of the cement sheath occurred under cyclic loading, but interfacial peeling did not. The reason is that the cement sheath is under compressive stress during loading and unloading, and the interface between the cement sheath and the outer wall is not damaged. This study provides a new method for studying the mechanical failure of a cement sheath under complex wellbore conditions.

Abstract Bacterial membrane vesicles (MVs) have recently gained much attention and have been shown to carry a wide diversity of secreted bacterial components. However, it is poorly understood whether MV carriage is an indispensable requirement for a cargo's function. Bacteriocins as weapons of bacterial warfare shape the composition of microbial communities. Many bacteriocins have pronounced hydrophobicity that is imposed by their mechanism of action, but how they diffuse through aqueous environments to reach their target competitors is not known. Here we show that antimicrobial competitive activity of an exemplary hydrophobic bacteriocin of the thiopeptide antibiotic family, micrococcin P1 (MP1), is dependent on incorporation into MVs, which were found to carry MP1 at high concentrations. In contrast, MP1 without MV association was poorly active due to low solubility. Furthermore, we provide previously unavailable evidence that MVs fuse with a Gram‐positive bacterium's cytoplasmic membrane, in this case to deliver a bacteriocin to its intracellular target. Our findings demonstrate how bacteria overcome the problem associated with secreting hydrophobic small molecules and delivering them to their target and show that MVs have a key function in bacterial warfare. Furthermore, our study provides hitherto rare evidence that MVs provide an essential rather than merely accessory function in bacterial physiology.

Abstract Self‐similarity, a prior of natural images, has attracted much attention. The attribute means that low‐rank group matrices can be constructed from similar image patches. For low‐rank approximation denoising methods based on singular value decomposition (SVD) the ability to accurately construct group matrices with noise and handle singular values are keys. Here, combining image priors, a two‐stage clustering method to adaptively construct group matrices is designed. The method is anti‐noise, that is, when noise levels are high, these matrices are more accurate than that constructed by other algorithms. Then, according to the significance of singular values and singular vectors, singular vectors of the low‐rank estimations are corrected so that the residual noise in the low‐rank estimations is further suppressed. For back projection , the authors use the original noise level and the residual image to adaptively determine projection parameters and new noise levels . So, authors' back projection can provide a good foundation for authors' two‐stage denoising methods, better remove noise and preserve image details. Experimental results show that compared with the existing state‐of‐the‐art denoising algorithms, the proposed algorithm achieves competitive denoising performances in terms of quantitative metrics and preserving details. Especially with the increase of noise, the competitiveness of authors' algorithms is gradually enhanced.

Abstract Intervertebral disc (IVD) herniation and degeneration contributes significantly to low back pain (LBP), of which the molecular pathogenesis is not fully understood. Disc herniation may cause LBP and radicular pain, but not all LBP patients have disc herniation. Degenerated discs could be the source of pain, but not all degenerated discs are symptomatic. We previously found that disc degeneration and herniation accompanied by inflammation. We further found that anti‐inflammatory molecules blocked immune responses, alleviated IVD degeneration and pain. Based on our recent findings and the work of others, we hypothesize that immune system may play a prominent role in the production of disc herniation or disc degeneration associated pain. While the nucleus pulposus (NP) is an immune‐privileged organ, the damage of the physical barrier between NP and systemic circulation, or the innervation and vascularization of the degenerated NP, on one hand exposes NP as a foreign antigen to immune system, and on the other hand presents compression on the nerve root or dorsal root ganglion (DRG), which both elicit immune responses induced by immune cells and their mediators. The inflammation can remain for a long time at remote distance, with various types of cytokines and immune cells involved in this pain‐inducing process. In this review, we aim to revisit the autoimmunity of the NP, immune cell infiltration after break of physical barrier, the inflammatory activities in the DRG and the generation of pain. We also summarize the involvement of immune system, including immune cells and cytokines, in degenerated or herniated IVDs and affected DRG.
