Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite (OIHP) photodetectors have presented unprecedented device performance mainly owing to outstanding material properties. However, the solution-processed OIHP polycrystalline thin films with defective surface and grain boundaries always impair the key parameter of photodetectors. Herein, a nonfullerene passivation layer exhibits more efficient passivation for OIHP materials to dramatically reduce the trap density of state, yielding a dark current as low as 2.6 × 10-8 A cm-2 under -0.1 V. In addition, the strong absorption in near-infrared (NIR) region of nonfullerene/C60 heterojunction broadens the detectable range to over 900 nm by effective charge transport, ultimately leading to a specific detectivity of 1.45 × 1012 and 7.37 × 1011 cm Hz1/2 W-1 at 650 and 820 nm, respectively. Encouragingly, the response speed of 27 ns is obtained at 0.6 mm2 of device area by removing constrain from the resistance-capacitance constant. Moreover, the prominent practical application of the photodetector is demonstrated in a weak light detection circuit and a visible light communication system. It is believed that the OIHP photodetectors with high sensitivity, NIR photoresponse, and ultrafast speed would pave the way to commercial applications.

We have developed a novel, mild, efficient, and scalable protocol for the synthesis of N-protected β-cyano- l -alanine esters or ­amides from N-protected l -asparagin. This protocol avoided the use of toxic or unpleasant reagents and was easy to operate in laboratory.

NF-κB/p65 is retained in the cytoplasm until it is activated in response to stress. Nuclear import of p65 is regulated by importin α in a nuclear localization signal (NLS)-dependent manner. However, the role of importin β family members in the nuclear translocation of p65 is largely unclear. In this study, using high-content siRNA screening, we identified three of 17 importin β family members that are involved in the nuclear import of p65. Our data showed that knockdown of KPNB1, XPO7 and IPO8 reduced the amount of nuclear p65 following tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) stimulation, resulting in lower NF-κB activity. KPNB1 was the major importin β receptor for p65 import, and this import was dependent on the NLS of p65. However, NLS-mutated p65 still entered the nucleus and bound to XPO7 and IPO8. Interestingly, among the six members of the importin α family, KPNA2 was most important for p65 import. Taken together, our results show that the import of p65 mainly relies on the canonical KPNA2/KPNB1 pathway; however, p65 is also imported by an alternative pathway that is independent of its NLS. Redundant importin receptors are likely to maintain the important function of p65 according to need.

An unexpected R(2)AlCl-mediated ring-opening reaction of oxacycles for the formation of all-carbon quaternary centers was discovered, and a possible mechanism is proposed. The developed chemistry provides a concise approach to synthesize structural diverse of dolastane-type compounds.

Stereoselective total synthesis of natural product crisamicin A (1) was accomplished for the first time via the Pd/TMTU-catalyzed alkoxycarbonylative annulation to generate a unique cis-pyran-fused lactone, an intermolecular Diels−Alder reaction to construct the pyranonaphthoquinone unit, and a novel Pd−thiourea pincer complex-catalyzed homocoupling of functionalized naphthoquinones.

A practical one-pot synthetic strategy for the efficient synthesis of a range of structurally interesting and bioactive quinoline-based tetracycles has been developed. A key step in the synthesis is a tandem three-component reaction of heteroaromatic amine, methyl 2-formylbenzoate and tbutyl isonitrile, followed by TFA-mediated lactamization via intramolecular aminolysis of an adjacent ester. Results related to a kinase-panel screening for several selected compounds are also discussed in this article.

Lewis acid Zn(OTf)2-catalyzed tandem annulations of isonitriles and allenic esters which lead to efficient and flexible syntheses of a range of biologically significant maleimides and carbazoles and related compounds are reported. A mechanistic rationale is proposed to account for the observed reactivity.

A series of pyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide derivatives containing two α-amino acid pendant groups was prepared and characterized. Three of the synthesized compounds obtained from this series, all having aromatic amino acid side chains, were found to be excellent organogelators toward aromatic solvents (mgc∼10–20 mg/mL), alcoholic solvents (mgc∼4–15 mg/mL), and CCl 4 (mgc∼4–10 mg/mL). It was found that the intra-molecular hydrogen bonds between the pyridine dicarboxamide N–Hs and the pyridine N atom were the key structural elements for gel formation. This series of compounds represented one of the rare examples where both inter- and intra-molecular hydrogen bonds were needed for effective gel formation. FTIR, 1 H NMR, and CD spectroscopy revealed that both hydrogen bonding and π–π aromatic stacking were the driving forces for gelation.
