Abstract Due to the disturbances and varying latency, a teleoperated robotic manipulator might not comply with the master control commands. Although prior studies on minimising the impact of network latency and disturbances on teleoperated robots were conducted, there has been very little research on the prediction of minimal operation regions of robotic arms, especially in the worst‐case scenarios when the disturbances and time delays still prevail even after impact minimisation. This study investigates the problem and proposes a novel solution to predicting minimal operation regions of networked control robotic manipulators. The proposed method can be used to forecast safe operation regions in which the manipulators will certainly enter and exclude regions that the robots will never penetrate. Leveraging on a Lyanonov Krasovskii criterion, the method performs region prediction by establishing minimal reachable bounding sets of the nonlinear, perturbed robotic arm's state vectors guided via a time‐varying delay‐dominant network. Though predominantly nonlinear, the entire prediction process is formulated as a tractable Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) optimisation problem, which can be solved efficiently and effectively. Efficacy of the proposed method is validated with simulations where a simulated robotic arm is distorted with time‐varying delays and disturbances.

Abstract The Arctic polar nights bring extreme environmental conditions characterised by cold and darkness, which challenge the survival of organisms in the Arctic. Additionally, multiple anthropogenic stressors can amplify the pressure on the fragile Arctic ecosystems during this period. Determining how multiple anthropogenic stressors may affect the survival of Arctic life is crucial for ecological risk assessments and management, but this topic is understudied. For the first time, our study investigates the complex interactions of multiple stressors, exploring stressor temporal dynamics and exposure duration on a key Arctic copepod Calanus glacialis during the polar nights. We conducted experiments with pulse (intermittent) and press (continuous) exposure scenarios, involving microplastics, pyrene and warming in a fully factorial design. We observed significant effects on copepod survival, with pronounced impacts during later stressor phases. We also detected two‐way interactions between microplastics and pyrene, as well as pyrene and warming, further intensified with the presence of a third stressor. Continuous stressor exposure for 9 days (press‐temporal scenario) led to greater reductions in copepod survival compared to the pulse‐temporal scenario, characterised by two 3‐day stressor exposure phases. Notably, the inclusion of recovery phases, free from stressor exposure, positively influenced copepod survival, highlighting the importance of temporal exposure dynamics. We did not find behaviour to be affected by the different treatments. Our findings underscore the intricate interactions amongst multiple stressors and their temporal patterns in shaping the vulnerability of overwintering Arctic copepods with crucial implications for managing Arctic aquatic ecosystems under the fastest rate of ongoing climate change on earth.

Abstract Introduction In Viet Nam, key populations (KPs) face barriers accessing HIV services. Virtual platforms can be leveraged to increase access for KPs, including for HIV self‐testing (HIVST). This study compares reach and effectiveness of a web‐based HIVST intervention from pilot to scale‐up in Viet Nam. Methods A mixed‐methods explanatory sequential design used cross‐sectional and thematic analysis. The pilot launched in Can Tho in November 2020, followed by Hanoi and Nghe An in April 2021. Scale‐up included Can Tho and Nghe An, with 21 novel provinces from April to December 2022. After risk assessment, participants registered on the website, receiving HIVST (OraQuick®) by courier, peer educator or self‐pick‐up. Test result reporting and completing satisfaction surveys were encouraged. Intervention reach was measured through numbers accessing the testing, disaggregated by demographics, and proportion of individuals reporting self‐testing post‐registration. Effectiveness was measured through numbers reporting self‐test results, testing positive and linking to care, and testing negative and using HIVST to manage pre‐exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) use. Thematic content analysis of free‐text responses from the satisfaction survey synthesized quantitative outcomes. Abstract Background De novo variations are a primary cause of Rett syndrome and Tubulinopathy, accounting for over 90% of cases. Some studies have identified and documented parental inheritance by mosaicism in these two disorders, albeit with limited data. Methods Clinical characteristics and diagnosis, including genetic tests of members of two families, were obtained from medical reports. Results The first family with Rett syndrome (RTT) presented with two offspring carrying FOXG1 c.460dup. Both affected RTT pregnancies did not show anomalies within the first trimester, preventing prenatal recognition at an early stage. The second family had two of three offspring confirmed with TUBA1A c.172G>A related to Tubulinopathy. Both young couples from the two families harbored none of the variants correlating to their children's conditions. Diagnosis of parental mosaics with higher rates of recurrence was reasonably determined, and genetic counseling played a major role in guiding and managing their subsequent pregnancies. Conclusion In genetic disorders with a high penetration of de novo variants, the risk of having a recurrent baby is an important topic to discuss with affected families. By examining variants that siblings share, clinical diagnosis can offer valuable information about the presence of mosaic inheritance. To effectively manage in the long term, adequate genetic counseling and strategic planning for future pregnancies should be emphasized to mitigate the risk of recurrent offspring.

Abstract Time‐to‐detection (TTD) occupancy models are increasingly used to study site occupancy of organisms. Occupancy is a reduced representation of abundance (distinguishing only between 0 and >0 individuals), which is also often a quantity of interest. In this paper, we present a novel framework for TTD occupancy models that address limitations of existing approaches. Our approach incorporates factors that accommodate detection heterogeneity among sites/visits and inter‐visit dependency, allowing for the relaxation of some restrictive assumptions inherent in previous models. As a result, our framework offers a robust and versatile tool for analysing various ecological data sets. We employ a maximum likelihood approach to estimate model parameters and conduct inference for the proposed TTD occupancy models. A key feature of these models is the introduction of a community parameter. This parameter characterizes the similarity of detectabilities, ranging from complete independence to complete identity, across multiple site visits. This framework disentangles the detection rate, abundance and occupancy, similar to the popular N‐mixture model. For situations where abundance estimation is not the primary goal, a family of mixed gamma exponential TTD models is developed, which generally exhibit more stable numerical properties compared to N‐mixture type TTD models. The performance of the proposed models and some reduced models is evaluated through simulation studies. The results indicate that the N‐mixture TTD model tends to considerably overestimate the occupancy probability when the community parameter is less than one, a condition necessary to satisfy the strict closure population assumption. On the other hand, the standard exponential TTD occupancy model underestimates the occupancy probability in the presence of unobserved detection heterogeneity and inter‐visit dependency. An analysis of 63 bird species in the Karoo region of South Africa demonstrates the enhanced flexibility of the proposed TTD occupancy models for data fitting. This paper demonstrates the importance of employing more flexible and general models to accurately capture the complexities of ecological systems or survey data. We provide R‐code to fit all considered models to data. The proposed TTD model framework contributes to enhancing our understanding of species occupancy distributions.

Key Clinical Message Gallbladder volvulus (GV) is a medical emergency and a rare cause of acute abdominal pain among the pediatric population. GV is more prominent usually in boys in pediatric patients. If it is not diagnosed and surgically intervened promptly, GV will become a life‐threating condition. Fortunately, a safe and effective laparoscopic cholecystectomy is now widely indicated. A 5 years old female patient with abdominal pain and heavy much vomiting was referred to the emergency room in our hospital. She was suspiciously diagnosed with acute inflammation of the gallbladder according to the results of abdominal ultrasound and computerized tomography (CT) scan already performed on admission. One day after the hospitalization, abdominal ultrasound, and CT scan were performed again because of intensification of her abdominal pain and revealed the clinical portrait of GV such as a “floating gallbladder” sign, an echogenic cone structure, an elongated axis displaced horizontally instead of vertically and a lack of intramural blood flow. The acute GV diagnosis was made and the patient was operated, using the laparoscopic cholecystectomy on time, the gallbladder was tightly twisted clockwise at approximately 720°. The operation and postoperative treatment went quite well and the patient was discharged from the hospital on postoperative Day 7. GV is very rare in children, easily omitted or misdiagnosed with cholecystitis. Imaging diagnosis such as ultrasound, CT with contrast helps make diagnosis promptly that avoids severe complications such as gallbladder perforation, necrosis, and biliary peritonitis.

Abstract Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) represents a rare, insidiously progressive disease of the pulmonary system, marked by cystic degradation of lung tissues leading to respiratory compromise. Pulmonary LAM has been identified as being associated with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) in its pulmonary manifestation (TSC‐LAM), a multisystem genetic disorder resulting from mutations in either the TSC1 or TSC2 genes. Herein, we describe an early 20s female admitted to the hospital with dyspnea, chest pain, hypopigmented macules, and facial fibroadenomas. She has a medical history of renal angiomyolipomas (ALMs) and pneumothoraces. Diagnosis with LAM was confirmed through high‐resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scan and histopathology of lung biopsy. Whole exome sequencing analysis identified a frameshift mutation c.4504del (p.L1502Cfs*74) in the patient's TSC2 gene. This variant was de novo due to its absence in the patient's parents. This is the first report on the clinical and genetic etiology of TSC‐LAM in Vietnam.

Abstract In the pursuit of carbon neutrality policies, the development of eco‐friendly and intelligent furniture commands a significant role. However, the integration of non‐biodegradable electronic components in smart furniture fabrication has led to substantial electronic waste. Here, we report a straightforward approach, the rapid production of Laser‐Induced Graphene (LIG) on medium‐density fiberboard (MDF), a prevalent recycled wood in furniture production. This LIG electrode is crafted with negligible material ablation in ambient air with the aid of femtosecond laser pulses, without requiring any additional materials, showcasing the highest electrical conductivity (2.781 Ω sq−1) among previously reported lignocellulosic materials‐based LIG. The application of this LIG electrode for lighting, heating, and touch sensors displays sufficient performance for smart furniture implementation. For eco‐conscious furniture, LIG‐based human‐machine interfaces are demonstrated on recycled woods for the facile control of smart devices, which will readily enable IoT‐oriented smart sustainable furniture.

Abstract Calanoid copepods Acartia species are major live feeds for the early stages of economically important marine fish in hatcheries in Southeast Asian countries. However, rearing Acartia copepods at high densities to increase productivity remains a major challenge. To address the issue, we conducted two experiments on (1) Acartia sp. nauplii (1000, 3000, 6000, 9000, 12,000, and 15,000 individuals L−1) and (2) adults (1000, 1500, 2000, and 2500 individuals L−1). We assessed key parameters for biomass production: development, survival, and egg and nauplii production. In general, increased density resulted in longer development time, lowered survival and egg and nauplii production but did not affect the size of adult males and females. Despite survival to adulthood decreasing at higher stocking nauplii densities, the number of surviving adults was highest at a stocking density of 12,000 individuals L−1. Egg and nauplii production was very low which may be the result of high predation. The total eggs and nauplii harvested were highest at the lowest adult density. These results are essential for the biomass production of Acartia sp. in central Vietnam.

Abstract The current study aimed to identify the chemical constituents and bioactivities of the crude ethanolic extract (CEE) and its fractions (ethyl acetate (EAF), hexane (HEF), and aqueous (AEF)) from leaves of cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) grown in Vietnam. A total of 31 compounds which belong to alkanes, hydrocarbons, iodine, terpenoids, phenolics, and flavonoids were determined by a gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) analysis, with bis(2‐ethylhexyl) phthalate being the most prevailing compound. The highest total phenolic and flavonoid contents were obtained in the EAF, followed by HEF, CEE, and AQF. All samples showed promising in vitro antibacterial activity, enzyme inhibition, and anticancer activity. Among the samples tested, the EAF exhibited the highest enzyme inhibition activity against α‐amylase and α‐glucosidase (IC50 values of 51.24 μg/mL and 99.29 μg/mL, respectively), cytotoxicity activity against HeLa cells (IC50 value of 79.49 μg/mL), and antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli with MIC values of 5 mg/mL and 2.5 mg/mL, respectively. These findings suggest that the leaves of A. occidentale cultivated in Vietnam are a promising source of bioactive components and that EAF is a promising bioactive material warranting further pharmaceutical investigation.

Abstract Automated computed tomography (CT) scan segmentation (labelling of pixels according to tissue type) is now possible. This technique is being adapted to achieve three‐dimensional (3D) segmentation of CT scans, opposed to single L3‐slice alone. This systematic review evaluates feasibility and accuracy of automated segmentation of 3D CT scans for volumetric body composition (BC) analysis, as well as current limitations and pitfalls clinicians and researchers should be aware of. OVID Medline, Embase and grey literature databases up to October 2021 were searched. Original studies investigating automated skeletal muscle, visceral and subcutaneous AT segmentation from CT were included. Seven of the 92 studies met inclusion criteria. Variation existed in expertise and numbers of humans performing ground‐truth segmentations used to train algorithms. There was heterogeneity in patient characteristics, pathology and CT phases that segmentation algorithms were developed upon. Reporting of anatomical CT coverage varied, with confusing terminology. Six studies covered volumetric regional slabs rather than the whole body. One study stated the use of whole‐body CT, but it was not clear whether this truly meant head‐to‐fingertip‐to‐toe. Two studies used conventional computer algorithms. The latter five used deep learning (DL), an artificial intelligence technique where algorithms are similarly organized to brain neuronal pathways. Six of seven reported excellent segmentation performance (Dice similarity coefficients > 0.9 per tissue). Internal testing on unseen scans was performed for only four of seven algorithms, whilst only three were tested externally. Trained DL algorithms achieved full CT segmentation in 12 to 75 s versus 25 min for non‐DL techniques. DL enables opportunistic, rapid and automated volumetric BC analysis of CT performed for clinical indications. However, most CT scans do not cover head‐to‐fingertip‐to‐toe; further research must validate using common CT regions to estimate true whole‐body BC, with direct comparison to single lumbar slice. Due to successes of DL, we expect progressive numbers of algorithms to materialize in addition to the seven discussed in this paper. Researchers and clinicians in the field of BC must therefore be aware of pitfalls. High Dice similarity coefficients do not inform the degree to which BC tissues may be under‐ or overestimated and nor does it inform on algorithm precision. Consensus is needed to define accuracy and precision standards for ground‐truth labelling. Creation of a large international, multicentre common CT dataset with BC ground‐truth labels from multiple experts could be a robust solution.

Abstract Optimization and validation for simultaneous quantitation of four aflatoxins B1, B2, G1, and G2 in peanuts and raisins were performed on ultra‐performance liquid chromatography in a combination of fluorescence detector, without derivatization. The advantages were short analysis time, simple sample handling, and reduced solvent consumption. Instrument detection limits of AFB1, AFB2, AFG1, and AFG2 were 0.07, 0.01, 0.1, and 0.008 μg/kg, respectively, lower than those obtained by LCMSMS and HPLC‐FLD with derivatization. Two solvent mixtures were chosen for two different matrices whose matrix effect was not negligible (2.81%–8.04% for peanuts and 5.63%–11.43% for raisins). The linear ranges were from 0.2 to 20 μg/L for AFB1 and AFG1 and from 0.05 to 5 μg/L for AFB2 and AFG2. The limits of detection and quantification were 0.025–0.1 and 0.075–0.3 μg/kg for peanuts and raisins, respectively. Recoveries at three other concentrations from 0.75 to 125 μg/kg of total aflatoxins were obtained between 76.5% and 99.8% (with RSD

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in Vietnamese women, but its mutational landscape and actionable alterations for targeted therapies remain unknown. After treatment, a sensitive biomarker to complement conventional imaging to monitor patients is also lacking. In this prospective multi‐center study, 134 early‐stage breast cancer patients eligible for curative‐intent surgery were recruited. Genomic DNA from tumor tissues and paired white blood cells were sequenced to profile all tumor‐derived mutations in 95 cancer‐associated genes. Our bioinformatic algorithm was then utilized to identify top mutations for individual patients. Serial plasma samples were collected before surgery and at scheduled visits after surgery. Personalized assay tracking the selected mutations were performed to detect circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in the plasma. We found that the mutational landscape of the Vietnamese was largely similar to other Asian cohorts, showing higher TP53 mutation frequency than in Caucasians. Alterations in PIK3CA and PI3K signaling were dominant, particularly in our triple‐negative subgroup. Using top‐ranked mutations, we detected ctDNA in pre‐operative plasma in 24.6–43.5% of the hormone‐receptor‐positive groups and 76.9–80.8% of the hormone‐receptor‐negative groups. The detection rate was associated with breast cancer subtypes and clinicopathological features that increased the risk of relapse. Interim analysis after a 15‐month follow‐up revealed post‐operative detection of ctDNA in all three patients that had recurrence, with a lead time of 7–13 months ahead of clinical diagnosis. Our personalized assay is streamlined and affordable with promising clinical utility in residual cancer surveillance. We also generated the first somatic variant dataset for Vietnamese breast cancer women that could lay the foundation for precision cancer medicine in Vietnam.

Abstract The Southern Ocean plays a major role in controlling the evolution of Antarctic glaciers and in turn their impact on sea level rise. We present the Southern Ocean high‐resolution (SOhi) simulation of the MITgcm ocean model to reproduce ice‐ocean interaction at 1/24° around Antarctica, including all ice shelf cavities and oceanic tides. We evaluate the model accuracy on the continental shelf using Marine Mammals Exploring the Oceans Pole to Pole data and compare the results with three other MITgcm ocean models (ECCO4, SOSE, and LLC4320) and the ISMIP6 temperature reconstruction. Below 400 m, all the models exhibit a warm bias on the continental shelf, but the bias is reduced in the high‐resolution simulations. We hypothesize some of the bias is due to an overestimation of sea ice cover, which reduces heat loss to the atmosphere. Both high‐resolution and accurate bathymetry are required to improve model accuracy around Antarctica.

Abstract The Squaretail mullet, Ellochelon vaigiensis, is a commercial fish species distributed throughout the Indo‐Pacific region. This species tolerates wide variations in salinity, having been reported from both freshwater and marine habitats. Although economically significant, there is little information on its reproduction, especially in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta (VMD), where it is heavily extracted. Our study elucidates the breeding pattern, seasonality, first length at maturity, as well as potential and relative fecundity of this species. Fish specimens were collected by trawl nets from November 2020 to October 2021 at four estuarine sites within the VMD. We found this species to be a synchronous spawner, with peaks in reproductive activity from June to September. In the populations we surveyed, there was significant dominance of males (1.26:1.00) based on 942 fish samples (526 males and 416 females). The length at 50% maturity for females was significantly higher than for males at all sites and ranged from 10.6 to 19.3 cm. The diameter of the eggs examined for this species exhibited slight variation, from 0.43 to 0.54 mm. The potential fecundity ranged from 246,254 ± 35,878 to 411,970 ± 54,370 eggs, corresponding to female length and weight of 26.7–32.6 cm and 102.97–234.19 g, respectively. Relative fecundity values were highest at Thanh Phu, Ben Tre (6388 ± 605 eggs), and Dong Hai, Bac Lieu (6461 ± 637 eggs), followed by Tran De, Soc Trang (4729 ± 408), and were found to be lowest at Duyen Hai, Tra Vinh (3117 ± 223 eggs). Information on reproductive behavior in this species has far‐reaching impacts on sustainable extractions, stock conservation, and aquaculture.

Abstract The water chestnut Trapa bispinosa Roxb. has been domesticated in China and has been reported as the only domesticated species of this genus. To understand the origin of T. bispinosa and its evolution pathway, we compared the genetic similarity and seed morphology of domesticated water chestnut T. bispinosa with three wild species T. natans, T. incisa, and T. japonica along with archeological seed samples from the Tianluoshan site (approximately 7000–6300 cal BP) in China. The largest seed size was observed only in the domesticated species, whereas other wild species showed smaller size including T. natans L. genetically close to the domesticated type, and T. incisa was the smallest in size. The volumes of the seed capsule and endosperm were measured using X ray CT scans, showing the ratios of total volumes between T. bispinosa and wild species ranged from 4.2 to 4.5. The ratios of endosperm volume ranged from 3.3 to 3.7. Both measurements showed domesticated species have larger seed volume. Genome size was indirectly estimated by flow cytometry. Domesticated species with larger seed size was estimated as diploid, as were the wild species except for tetraploid species T. japonica. Domesticated species clearly showed the largest edible organs, but it was not a result of ploidy level changes. Maternal lineages traced using complete whole chloroplast sequences, suggested that T. natans is the closest to T. bispinosa, both of which are close to T. japonica. The result was confirmed by PCR genotyping with chloroplast insertion/deletion (cpINDEL) markers developed in the study. T. incisa showed distinct plastid types within the species, and T. japonica showed a unique plastid genotype. Our study concludes the largest volumes for the edible endosperm have been accomplished through nearly 6000 years of artificial selection, but the domestication did not involve ploidy level changes.

Abstract The capacity to manipulate magnetization in 2D dilute magnetic semiconductors (2D‐DMSs) using light, specifically in magnetically doped transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) monolayers (M‐doped TX2, where M = V, Fe, and Cr; T = W, Mo; X = S, Se, and Te), may lead to innovative applications in spintronics, spin‐caloritronics, valleytronics, and quantum computation. This Perspective paper explores the mediation of magnetization by light under ambient conditions in 2D‐TMD DMSs and heterostructures. By combining magneto‐LC resonance (MLCR) experiments with density functional theory (DFT) calculations, we show that the magnetization can be enhanced using light in V‐doped TMD monolayers (e.g., V‐WS2, V‐WSe2). This phenomenon is attributed to excess holes in the conduction and valence bands, and carriers trapped in magnetic doping states, mediating the magnetization of the semiconducting layer. In 2D‐TMD heterostructures (VSe2/WS2, VSe2/MoS2), the significance of proximity, charge‐transfer, and confinement effects in amplifying light‐mediated magnetism is demonstrated. We attributed this to photon absorption at the TMD layer that generates electron–hole pairs mediating the magnetization of the heterostructure. These findings will encourage further research in the field of 2D magnetism and establish a novel design of 2D‐TMDs and heterostructures with optically tunable magnetic functionalities, paving the way for next‐generation magneto‐optic nanodevices.

Abstract The majority of adoptive cellular therapies are produced from peripheral mononuclear cells obtained via leukapheresis and further enriched for the cells of interest (e.g., T cells). Here, we present a first‐of‐its‐kind closed system, which effectively removes ~85% of monocytes and ~88% of platelets, while recovering ~88% of concentrated T cells in a separate output stream, as the leukapheresis sample flows through a microfluidic device at 5 mL/min. The system is driven by a common peristaltic pump, enabled by a novel pressure wave dampener, and operates in a closed bag‐to‐bag configuration, without requiring any specialized, dedicated equipment. When compared to standard density gradient centrifugation on paired samples, the new system demonstrated a 1.5‐fold increase in T cell recovery and a 2‐fold reduction in inter‐sample variability for this separation outcome. The T cell‐to‐monocyte ratio of the leukapheresis sample was increased to 20:1, whereas with density gradient processing it decreased to 2:1. As a result of superior purity and/or gentler processing, T cells enriched by the system showed a 2.7‐times higher fold expansion during subsequent culture, and an overall 3.5‐times higher cumulative yield. This centrifugation‐free and label‐free closed system for enriching lymphocytes could significantly simplify and standardize the manufacturing of life‐saving cellular therapies.

This investigation focused on assessing and enhancing ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) using natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) to extract phenolics and terpenoids from sweet basil leaves. The initial stage involved evaluating the extraction performance of twelve NADES and ethanol. A NADES comprising lactic acid and glucose with a 2 : 1 molar ratio and 20% water content (WC) obtained the highest total phenolic content (TPC) and total terpenoid content (TTC). Single-factor experiments systematically examined the impact of liquid-to-solid ratio (LSR), water content in NADES (WC), ultrasound power, temperature, and exposure time on the extraction yield. Optimization using Box–Behnken Design (BBD) models for the lactic acid and glucose-based UAE revealed the optimal conditions to be 80 ml/g LSR, 30% water, 300 W, 50°C temperature, and a 15-minute exposure time. Under these optimized parameters, the extraction achieved the highest TPC and TTC at 69.88 mg GAE/g and 110.71 mg UA/g, respectively. This study presents an environmentally friendly and sustainable extraction protocol for the extraction of phenolic compounds and terpenoids from sweet basil leaves.

Abstract Recent advances in the field of environmental DNA (eDNA) metabarcoding have produced a promising platform for early detection and broad‐spectrum monitoring of plant pests and pathogens. To date, the majority of fungal metabarcoding assays have relied upon universal primers amplifying segments of the ribosomal DNA, to ensure broad taxonomic coverage while studying changes in community composition, or more recently, to screen for presence/absence of target species. In a diagnostics framework however, single, universal molecular barcodes do not discriminate accurately enough for many groups of important fungal phytopathogens at the required species level. Here, a modular, multi‐barcode amplicon sequencing pipeline was established to provide rapid and reliable diagnostics targeting the Ophiostomatales, an order containing economically important phytopathogens vectored by bark and ambrosia beetles (Curculionidae). Using compositionally varied mock communities, we evaluated five barcoding loci: ITS1, ITS2, the large ribosomal sub‐unit (LSU), translation elongation factor 1‐alpha (TEF1α) and calmodulin (CAL), for their ability to provide species‐level resolution. The sensitivity and detection limit of the assay was established by spiking genomic DNA of the exotic Dutch elm disease pathogen, Ophiostoma novo‐ulmi Brasier, into both the controlled mock communities and eDNA sampled from Ips grandicollis (Eichhoff) beetles collected in New South Wales, Australia. The TEF1α barcode successfully detected the Dutch elm pathogen DNA with 100% accuracy down to approx. 5 pg/μl, while the ITS1 barcode had a 100% accuracy down to approx. 0.4 pg/μl within a given sample. Our results demonstrate that a dual‐barcode approach targeting the ITS1 and TEF1α regions simultaneously is sufficient for accurate species level detection and characterisation of the Ophiostomatales and offers confident detection of low‐abundance taxa (relative read abundances of 0.1%–0.01%). Multi‐barcode metabarcoding provides a framework which can quickly and efficiently be adapted to new targets when establishing high throughput diagnostics for post‐border biosecurity surveillance of fungal phytopathogens.

Abstract Non‐invasive human‐machine interactions (HMIs) are expected to be promoted by epidermal tactile receptive devices that can accurately perceive human activities. In reality, however, the HMI efficiency is limited by the unsatisfactory perception capability of mechanosensors and the complicated techniques for device fabrication and integration. Herein, a paradigm is presented for high‐throughput fabrication of multimodal epidermal mechanosensors based on a sequential “femtosecond laser patterning‐elastomer infiltration‐physical transfer” process. The resilient mechanosensor features a unique hybrid sensing layer of rigid cellular graphitic flakes (CGF)‐soft elastomer. The continuous microcracking of CGF under strain enables a sharp reduction in conductive pathways, while the soft elastomer within the framework sustains mechanical robustness of the structure. As a result, the mechanosensor achieves an ultrahigh sensitivity in a broad strain range (GF of 371.4 in the first linear range of 0–50%, and maximum GF of 8922.6 in the range of 61–70%), a low detection limit (0.01%), and a fast response/recovery behavior (2.6/2.1 ms). The device also exhibits excellent sensing performances to multimodal mechanical stimuli, enabling high‐fidelity monitoring of full‐range human motions. As proof‐of‐concept demonstrations, multi‐pixel mechanosensor arrays are constructed and implemented in a robot hand controlling system and a security system, providing a platform toward efficient HMIs.

Abstract Syzygium zeylanicum L. (DC) (SZL) has been used in antidiabetes treatment for ages. However, the scientific evidence of active agents that have antidiabetic activity and response against biological activities is limited. In this study, the active components of SZL trunk‐bark extract (SZL extract) were identified using principal component analysis (PCA), and their antidiabetic activities were assessed. The results indicated that the ethyl acetate fraction (EAF) had the highest concentration of phenolic compounds, antioxidants, and antihyperglycemic activities in the postprandial zebrafish model. The major antioxidant contributors were gallic acid, catechin, epicatechin, ellagic acid, quercetin, caffeine, and apigenin, and their concentrated levels reduced α‐amylase inhibitory activity, whereas rutin and ethyl gallate influenced the α‐glucosidase inhibitory activity. This study showed the bio‐functional properties of active phenolic compounds present in the SZL extract, potentially serving as a functional food to control hyperglycemia.

Abstract Background Radiofrequency catheter ablation is the preferred treatment choice for ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) originating from right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) in symptomatic patients and is usually performed under fluoroscopy guidance. Zero‐fluoroscopy (ZF) ablations using 3D mapping system applied for treatment of various types of arrhythmias are trending and practiced in many centers around the world, but rarely done in Vietnam. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of zero‐fluoroscopy ablation of RVOT VAs, compared with fluoroscopy‐guided ablation without a 3D electroanatomic mapping (EAM) system. Methods and Results We conducted a nonrandomized, prospective single‐center study including 114 patients with RVOT VAs that had electrocardiographic features of typical left bundle branch block, inferior axis QRS morphology, and a precordial transition ≥ V3, from May 2020 to July 2022. The patients were assigned (without randomization) to two different approaches of either zero‐fluoroscopy ablation under the guidance of the Ensite system (ZF group) or fluoroscopy‐guided ablation without a 3D EAM (fluoroscopy group) in a 1:1 ratio. After a follow‐up time of 5.0 ± 4.9 months and 6.9 ± 9.3 months in the ZF and fluoroscopy groups, respectively, the results showed a higher success rate in the fluoroscopy group than in the complete ZF group (87.3% vs 86.8%), although the difference was not statistically significant. No major complication was noted in both the groups. Conclusion ZF ablation for RVOT VAs can be done safely and effectively using the 3D electroanatomic mapping system. The results of ZF approach are comparable to that of the fluoroscopy‐guided approach without a 3D EAM system.

Abstract Background Brugada syndrome (BrS) is a rare genetic disease that causes sudden cardiac death (SCD) and arrhythmia. SCN5A pathogenic variants (about 30% of diagnosed patients) are responsible for BrS. Aims Lack of knowledge regarding molecular characteristics and the correlation between genotype and phenotype interfere with the risk stratification and finding the optimal treatment in Vietnam. Therefore, we identified SCN5A variants and evaluated the genotype–phenotype correlation of BrS on 117 Vietnamese probands. Materials and Methods The clinical characteristics and blood samples of BrS patients were collected. To determine SCN5A variants, Sanger sequencing was conducted, and subsequently, these variants were analyzed by bioinformatic tools. Results In this cohort, the overall rate of detected variants in SCN5A was 25.6%, which could include both pathogenic and benign variants. In genetic testing, 21 SCN5A variants were identified, including eight novels and 15 published variants. Multiple bioinformatic tools were used to predict variant effect with c.551A>G, c.1890+14G>A, c.3338C>T, c.3578G>A, and c.5484C>T as benign, while other variants were predicted as disease‐causing. Abstract Multiple‐Input Multiple‐Output Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO‐OFDM) is an essential technology in the wireless communication system. However, its performance is significantly affected by Carrier Frequency Offset (CFO), which leads to inter‐carrier interference (ICI). The CFO estimation and compensation techniques are used to mitigate the Doppler effect. In addition, the confidentiality of data is a key factor of the system. This paper proposes a Turbo‐based encryption and coding scheme to improve reliability and security for the MIMO‐OFDM wireless communication systems affected by the Doppler frequency offset. In our proposed scheme, the secret key is produced from channel parameters between legitimate users and it is used as a seed for generating a pseudo‐random bit sequence using an Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) generator with variable key lengths. The Turbo code's puncturing mechanism is controlled by this pseudo‐random bit sequence. The proposed method is applied to the system with different modulation schemes through the Rayleigh channel. The simulation results show that the system affected by the Doppler effect would obtain the best performance when using the highest key length of the AES generator, the BPSK, and a great number of receive antennas. Furthermore, the proposed solution outperforms several previous approaches for the MIMO‐OFDM systems.

Abstract Purpose Deficits in speech understanding constitute one of the most severe consequences of hearing loss. Here we investigate the clinical and genetic risk factors for symmetric deterioration of speech recognition thresholds (SRT) among cancer survivors treated with cisplatin. Methods SRT was measured using spondaic words and calculating the mean of measurements for both ears with symmetric SRT values. For clinical associations, SRT‐based hearing disability (SHD) was defined as SRT≥15 dB hearing loss and clinical variables were derived from the study dataset. Genotyped blood samples were used for GWAS with rank‐based inverse normal transformed SRT values as the response variable. Age was used as a covariate in association analyses. Abstract Objective To measure the performance of multiparametric (mp) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to identify intraprostatic tumour deposits using a systematic and targeted MR‐guided transperineal prostate biopsy technique. Materials and Methods Patients underwent a combined systematic and targeted MR‐guided transperineal biopsy procedure in the dorsal lithotomy position under general anaesthesia. Systematic biopsies were spaced 10 mm or less apart and additional biopsies targeted any Prostate Imaging–Reporting and Data System (PI‐RADS) 3, 4 or 5 lesions identified on mpMRI. Cancer detection rates were calculated on a per patient and per lesion basis. Results A total of 125 patients underwent the biopsy procedure. The positive predictive value (PPV) of mpMRI per patient was 59% for any cancer and 49% for Gleason score (GS) ≥ 7 cancer. The negative predictive value (NPV) of mpMRI per patient was 67% for any cancer and 88% for GS ≥ 7 cancer. On a per lesion basis, the PPV of PI‐RADS 3 lesions for any and GS ≥ 7 cancer was 24% and 10%. For PI‐RADS 4 lesions it was 42% and 32%. For PI‐RADS 5 lesions, it was 76% and 70%. MpMRI failed to identify GS ≥ 7 cancer found on systematic biopsy in 22% of patients. Conclusion Based on a combination of systematic and targeted transperineal prostate biopsies, mpMRI showed a high NPV and low PPV for GS ≥ 7 cancer on a per patient basis. The PPV of mpMRI on a per lesion basis increased with increasing PI‐RADS score. However, there were a significant number of both false positive as well as false negative (mpMRI invisible) areas within the prostate that contained GS ≥ 7 cancer. Therefore, pathologic confirmation using both targeted and systematic mapping biopsy is necessary to accurately identify all intraprostatic tumour deposits.

Abstract Graphdiyne (GDY), a new 2D material, has recently proven excellent performance in photodetector applications due to its direct bandgap and high mobility. Different from the zero‐gap of graphene, these preeminent properties made GDY emerge as a rising star for solving the bottleneck of graphene‐based inefficient heterojunction. Herein, a highly effective graphdiyne/molybdenum (GDY/MoS2) type‐II heterojunction in a charge separation is reported toward a high‐performance photodetector. Characterized by robust electron repulsion of alkyne‐rich skeleton, the GDY based junction facilitates the effective electron–hole pairs separation and transfer. This results in significant suppression of Auger recombination up to six times at the GDY/MoS2 interface compared with the pristine materials owing to an ultrafast hot hole transfer from MoS2 to GDY. GDY/MoS2 device demonstrates notable photovoltaic behavior with a short‐circuit current of −1.3 × 10−5 A and a large open‐circuit voltage of 0.23 V under visible irradiation. As a positive‐charge‐attracting magnet, under illumination, alkyne‐rich framework induces positive photogating effect on the neighboring MoS2, further enhancing photocurrent. Consequently, the device exhibits broadband detection (453–1064 nm) with a maximum responsivity of 78.5 A W−1 and a high speed of 50 µs. Results open up a new promising strategy using GDY toward effective junction for future optoelectronic applications.

Abstract Eco‐friendly triboelectric nanogenerator (eco‐TENG) is considered as a next‐generation renewable kinetic energy‐harvesting technology, especially for its potential use as a power supply unit for self‐powered electronics. For eco‐TENGs, nature‐derived biomaterials, which are non‐toxic to human and environment, highly biocompatible, and abundant in nature, are used for tribopositive or tribonegative materials, or both. Here, recent progress in nature‐derived biomaterials exploited for eco‐TENGs and their energy‐harvesting performances are reviewed, focusing on refined, hybridized, post‐treated, or not. Since biomaterials that exist in nature have evolved over hundreds of years to hundreds of thousands of years, their diversity, novelty in physicochemical structure, and high safety to nature hold enormous potential as carbon‐neutral energy materials. Furthermore, scalability and cost‐effectiveness of their fabrication methods make them promising as industrially viable eco‐materials.

Abstract Population's biological parameters, including length at first capture, mortalities, exploitation rates, growth coefficient, longevity, and recruitment times, are essential in assessing fishing status, but there is no data on Mystus mysticetus. Therefore, the study was conducted to provide these parameters to assess the fishing status of this species at Cai Rang, Can Tho (CRCT) and Long Phu, Soc Trang (LPST). A collection of 741 individual fish was used for analysis and showed that most fish size groups ranged from 9.0 cm to 12.0 cm, and the asymptotic length was 16.8 cm for both CRCT and LPST populations. The fish population von Bertalanffy curve was Lt = 16.80(1 − e−0.51(t + 0.38)) at CRCT and Lt = 16.80(1 − e−0.48(t + 0.40)) at LPST. The fish growth coefficient at CRCT (2.16) was higher than at LPST (2.13), whereas the reverse case was true for longevity ranging from 5.88 years (at CRCT) to 6.25 years (at LPST). At CRCT, fishing mortality, natural mortality, total mortality, and exploitation rate were 0.69/year, 1.40/year, 2.09/year, and 0.33, respectively; at LPST, these values were 0.75/year, 1.33/year, 2.08/year, and 0.36, respectively. Although the population parameter of this fish species exhibited a spatial variation, both CRCT and LPST fish resources have not been subjected to overexploit because E (0.33 at CRCT and 0.36 at LPST) is lower than E0.1 (0.707 at CRCT and 0.616 at LPST).

Abstract Introduction Pre‐exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is an important HIV prevention option. Two randomized trials have provided efficacy evidence for long‐acting injectable cabotegravir (CAB‐LA) as PrEP. In considering CAB‐LA as an additional PrEP modality for people at substantial risk of HIV, it is important to understand community response to injectable PrEP. We conducted a systematic review of values, preferences and perceptions of acceptability for injectable PrEP to inform global guidance. Methods We searched nine databases and conference websites for peer‐reviewed and grey literature (January 2010−September 2021). There were no restrictions on location. A two‐stage review process assessed references against eligibility criteria. Data from included studies were organized by constructs from the Theoretical Framework of Acceptability. Results We included 62 unique references. Most studies were observational, cross‐sectional and qualitative. Over half of the studies were conducted in North America. Men who have sex with men were the most researched group. Most studies (57/62) examined injectable PrEP, including hypothetical injectables (55/57) or placebo products (2/57). Six studies examined CAB‐LA specifically. There was overall interest in and often a preference for injectable PrEP, though there was variation within and across groups and regions. Many stakeholders indicated that injectable PrEP could help address adherence challenges associated with daily or on‐demand dosing for oral PrEP and may be a better lifestyle fit for individuals seeking privacy, discretion and infrequent dosing. End‐users reported concerns, including fear of needles, injection site pain and body location, logistical challenges and waning or incomplete protection. Discussion Despite an overall preference for injectable PrEP, heterogeneity across groups and regions highlights the importance of enabling end‐users to choose a PrEP modality that supports effective use. Like other products, preference for injectable PrEP may change over time and end‐users may switch between prevention options. There will be a greater understanding of enacted preference as more end‐users are offered anti‐retroviral (ARV)‐containing injectables. Future research should focus on equitable implementation, including real‐time decision‐making and how trained healthcare providers can support choice. Conclusions Given overall acceptability, injectable PrEP should be included as part of a menu of prevention options, allowing end‐users to select the modality that suits their preferences, needs and lifestyle.

Abstract Simultaneously enhancing the reaction kinetics, mass transport, and gas release during alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is critical to minimizing the reaction polarization resistance, but remains a big challenge. Through rational design of a hierarchical multiheterogeneous three‐dimensionally (3D) ordered macroporous Mo2C‐embedded nitrogen‐doped carbon with ultrafine Ru nanoclusters anchored on its surface (OMS Mo2C/NC‐Ru), we realize both electronic and morphologic engineering of the catalyst to maximize the electrocatalysis performance. The formed Ru‐NC heterostructure shows regulative electronic states and optimized adsorption energy with the intermediate H*, and the Mo2C‐NC heterostructure accelerates the Volmer reaction due to the strong water dissociation ability as confirmed by theoretical calculations. Consequently, superior HER activity in alkaline solution with an extremely low overpotential of 15.5 mV at 10 mA cm−2 with the mass activity more than 17 times higher than that of the benchmark Pt/C, an ultrasmall Tafel slope of 22.7 mV dec−1, and excellent electrocatalytic durability were achieved, attributing to the enhanced mass transport and favorable gas release process endowed from the unique OMS Mo2C/NC‐Ru structure. By oxidizing OMS Mo2C/NC‐Ru into OMS MoO3‐RuO2 catalyst, it can also be applied as efficient oxygen evolution electrocatalyst, enabling the construction of a quasi‐symmetric electrolyzer for overall water splitting. Such a device's performance surpassed the state‐of‐the‐art Pt/C || RuO2 electrolyzer. This study provides instructive guidance for designing 3D‐ordered macroporous multicomponent catalysts for efficient catalytic applications.

Abstract Purpose Cisplatin is a critical component of first‐line chemotherapy for several cancers, but causes peripheral sensory neuropathy, hearing loss, and tinnitus. We aimed to identify comorbidities for cisplatin‐induced neurotoxicities among large numbers of similarly treated patients without the confounding effect of cranial radiotherapy. Methods Utilizing linear and logistic regression analyses on 1680 well‐characterized cisplatin‐treated testicular cancer survivors, we analyzed associations of hearing loss, tinnitus, and peripheral neuropathy with nongenetic comorbidities. Genome‐wide association studies and gene‐based analyses were performed on each phenotype. Results Hearing loss, tinnitus, and peripheral neuropathy, accounting for age and cisplatin dose, were interdependent. Survivors with these neurotoxicities experienced more hypertension and poorer self‐reported health. In addition, hearing loss was positively associated with BMIs at clinical evaluation and nonwork‐related noise exposure (>5 h/week). Tinnitus was positively associated with tobacco use, hypercholesterolemia, and noise exposure. We observed positive associations between peripheral neuropathy and persistent vertigo, tobacco use, and excess alcohol consumption. Hearing loss and TXNRD1, which plays a key role in redox regulation, showed borderline significance (p = 4.2 × 10−6) in gene‐based analysis. rs62283056 in WFS1 previously found to be significantly associated with hearing loss (n = 511), was marginally significant in an independent replication cohort (p = 0.06; n = 606). Gene‐based analyses identified significant associations between tinnitus and WNT8A (p = 2.5 × 10−6), encoding a signaling protein important in germ cell tumors. Conclusions Genetics variants in TXNRD1 and WNT8A are notable risk factors for hearing loss and tinnitus, respectively. Future studies should investigate these genes and if replicated, identify their potential impact on preventive strategies.

Abstract In this article, a method is proposed to increase the accuracy of reactive power‐sharing for parallel‐connected inverters in Microgrid, this method is done by automatically adjusting the values of the virtual impedance to adjusting the output voltage of the inverters. The virtual impedances are automatically adjusted to compensate for the difference in the output voltage of the inverters due to the influence of the line impedances. The output voltage of the inverters will be adaptively adjusted according to the change of the load, this method greatly improves the accuracy in the reactive power sharing The correct power sharing for the inverters will ensure the stability of voltage and frequency in the Microgrid. The control method is simple and does not need to know the line impedance parameter. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed strategy are proven by simulation and experimental results.

Abstract A 44‐year‐old woman at 30 weeks of pregnancy was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit with a diagnosis of severe COVID‐19 pneumonia. Her condition worsened quickly, defined by prolonged hypoxia even with intensive therapy and oxygen supplementation. This led to the decision to perform a caesarean delivery and continue pulse corticosteroids therapy after delivery. Soon after she recovered from COVID‐19 pneumonia, her life was threatened again by septic shock from hospital‐acquired pneumonia. After nearly 1 month of hospitalization, she was discharged and fully recovered on the re‐examination day 10 months later.
