The international liver glycogen storage disease (GSD) priority setting partnership (IGSDPSP) was established to identify the top research priorities in this area. The multiphase methodology followed the principles of the James Lind Alliance (JLA) guidebook. An international scoping survey in seven languages was distributed to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals to gather uncertainties, which were consolidated into summary questions. The existing literature was reviewed to ensure that the summary questions had not yet been answered. A second survey asked responders to prioritize these summary questions. A final shortlist of 22 questions was discussed during an international multi-stakeholder workshop, and a consensus was reached on the top 11 priorities using an adapted nominal group technique.In the first survey, a total of 1388 questions were identified from 763 responders from 58 countries. These original uncertainties were refined into 72 summary questions for a second prioritization survey. In total 562 responders from 58 countries answered the second survey. From the second survey, the top 10 for patients, carers and healthcare professionals was identified and this shortlist of 22 questions was taken to the final workshop. During the final workshop, participants identified the worldwide top 11 research priorities for liver GSD. In addition, a top three research priorities per liver GSD subtype was identified.This unique priority setting partnership is the first international, multilingual priority setting partnership focusing on ultra-rare diseases. This process provides a valuable resource for researchers and funding agencies to foster interdisciplinary and transnational research projects with a clear benefit for patients., (© 2019 The Authors. There are less data available on the effect of the ACA on breast cancer care beyond the screening level. A retrospective review at participating iCaRe2/BCCR institutions was completed before and after ACA. Post-ACA, patients were older, more urban, and more likely to be insured through Medicaid. Increased imaging use was noted post-ACA. Background: Glutathione S-transferase is often up-regulated in neoplastic tissues. A single previous study found a loss of expression associated with carcinogenesis of the prostate., Methods: To extend these results, the authors performed immunohistochemical staining for the pi-class of glutathione S-transferase (GSTpi) on 74 archival sequential prostate specimens. The antibody used was derived from rabbits immunized against purified human GSTpi. Paraffin blocks containing both benign tissue and adenocarcinoma were studied., Results: Heterogeneous expression of GSTpi in benign acini was found in 96% of cases, but GSTpi was not expressed in 95% of invasive adenocarcinomas of the prostate, nor was it expressed in any of the foci of high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia. Basal cells of benign acini showed strong, diffuse staining for GSTpi, whereas the secretory luminal epithelium expressed GSTpi weakly and focally., Conclusions: This study confirms the down-regulation of GSTpi in adenocarcinoma of the prostate and shows that the loss of GSTpi expression is a phenotype associated with malignant transformation.

Background: Typhlitis is being recognized with increasing frequency as a serious complication of aggressive chemotherapy for hematologic and solid malignancies., Methods: In this report the authors describe two cases of typhlitis in patients with metastatic breast cancer treated with taxol and doxorubicin., Results: Both cases occurred during the first cycle of treatment with taxol (180 mg/m2) and doxorubicin (75 mg/m2), being given simultaneously as 72-hour continuous intravenous infusions., Conclusion: Two cases of typhlitis have occurred after combined treatment with taxol and doxorubicin, while typhlitis has not been described after treatment with either drug alone.

Histocompatibility may be a barrier to the infection of cattle when Theileria parva parva-infected tissues or in vitro cultured macroschizont-infected lymphoblastoid cell lines are used for immunization. By inoculating 10(3) and 10(5) infected cells into autologous recipients infection was achieved and immunity engendered. Cell lines inoculated into BoLA matched recipients did not produce patent infections but some recipients developed antibodies to the parasite and 3/5 were immune to challenge. No evidence of infection or immunity was found in BoLA half matched or mismatched cattle. This result suggests that there is an histocompatibility barrier to infection using T. p. parva-infected lymphoblastoid cells.
