Collision tumors are two distinct neoplasms seen together in same anatomic site. Management of such rare entity still lacks standardization with unknown prognosis. Here we are presenting one such rare case of invasive ductal carcinoma of breast and squamous cell carcinoma of anterior chest wall in a 31‐year‐old lady.

Idiopathic neck and chest wall flushing could cause disabling effects on patients' quality of life. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of botulinum toxin-A (BTA) in the management of idiopathic neck and chest wall flushing. This was a pilot prospective clinical study of patients with severe idiopathic neck and anterior chest wall flushing. Two mouse units of BTA were injected intracutaneously with a maximum dose of 100 units per patient per session. The dermatology life quality index is used as the primary outcome measure. Twenty-two patients were included in the study (18 women, four men) with an average age of 26 years (range 18-48). Twenty patients (90.9%) had immediate improvement with almost complete resolution of their flushing. At four weeks follow-up, 18 of 22 patients were included in the final analysis, significant improvement in quality of life was achieved, and mean baseline dermatology life quality index score 7.78 (SD 3.25) improved significantly to 4.23 (SD 3.44) with a mean difference of 3.56 (SD 4.6; 95%, confidence interval 1.27, 5.84) with paired samples t-test 3.29 (d.f. 17) P < 0.004. BTA may provide an effective treatment in the management of idiopathic neck and chest wall flushing.

Successful reconstruction of extensive anterior chest wall defect following major electrical burn represents a very challenging surgery. Herein we report the first case using pedicled full-thickness abdominal flap combined with skin grafting to treat this injury with severe infection and exposure of pericardium and ribs in a Chinese patient. Following the performance of chest debridement to remove necrotic and infected tissues and the injection of broad-spectrum antibiotics to reduce infection, a pedicled full-thickness abdominal flap was used to cover the exposed pericardium and ribs, and skin grafting from the right leg of the patient was done to cover the exposed vital tissues. The patient was followed up for a total of 3·5 years, and satisfactory cosmetic and functional outcomes were obtained without complications. This report provides an effective method for the surgeons who encounter similar cases where reconstruction of extensive anterior chest wall is required.

Synovitis, acne, pustulosis, hyperostosis and osteitis (SAPHO) syndrome is characterized by various dermatological manifestations and osteoarthropathy frequently localized to the anterior chest wall. Dermatologists should be familiar with this syndrome. Its early diagnosis is important to avoid prolonged antibiotic treatments and unnecessary invasive procedures. We report a new case of this syndrome with review of the relevant published work.

Cutaneous metastasis in vaginal cancer is an extremely rare event and no cases of cutaneous metastasis from primary vaginal adenocarcinoma have been found. We report the clinicopathologic features, including cytopathologic findings, of the first case of cutaneous metastasis to the anterior chest wall from a sporadic-type advanced primary vaginal adenocarcinoma. Our present case suggested that cytopathologic examination should be performed as soon as possible when a patient exhibits multiple subcutaneous nodules or a painful cutaneous ulcer during treatment of advanced gynecologic cancer.

We describe the case of a woman with the classic combination of features of synovitis-acne-pustulosis-hyperostosis-osteitis (SAPHO) syndrome, including pustulosis palmo-plantaris and anterior chest wall involvement. The varying symptomology, etiology and pathogenesis of this syndrome and the contribution of stress are discussed. The authors ascribe the dearth of reported cases to lack of awareness and recognition of SAPHO, and not to the real incidence of the syndrome.

We report the case of a 6-year-old child who fell from a height of almost 10 metres. He had a large wound in the anterior chest wall with herniation of the lung through a defect produced by dysjunction of costo-chondral/ sterno-chondral cartilages of the second to the fifth right ribs. Successful reduction and surgical repair was performed through a right anterolateral thoracotomy.

Dissection of the anterior chest wall typically precedes the opening of the thoracic cavity. The techniques for exposing and subsequently reflecting or removing the structures of the anterior chest wall have been well described. However, these approaches that involve the systematic dissection of the layers of tissue overlying the anterior thoracic wall prior to the removal of the anterior thoracic wall render the pectoral regions and axillas unfit for continued study. The authors offer an alternative dissection that allows continued access to the thoracic cavity while maintaining the integrity of the pectoral and axillary regions. This new technique may facilitate more efficient use and complete study of each specimen.

Salivary gland choristoma (heterotopic salivary gland tissue) is a rare condition typically seen in the newborn period. This developmental heterotopia is generally nonprogressive, with little risk of malignant transformation. We present the second known reported case of a salivary gland choristoma located on the anterior chest wall. Knowledge of this rare entity will allow for accurate diagnosis and management of this benign anatomic variant.

Purpose and Methods: Between 1988 and 2000, 378 cases of keloids were treated and the therapeutic outcomes were evaluated. For this study, 147 keloids in 129 patients were selected. Results: The overall recurrence rate was 32.7%. Analysis of the therapeutic outcomes showed that the recurrence rates in the sites with high stretch tension, such as the chest wall, and the scapular and suprapubic regions were statistically higher than in sites without high tension, such as the neck, earlobes and lower limbs (p = 0.0017). Discussion: The results suggested that keloid sites with a high risk of recurrence should be treated with escalated radiation doses. However in our experience, pigmentation increases when the radiation dose is increased. Additionally, pigmentation can be suppressed by the following methods: 1. reducing the one-time dose of irradiation while keeping the total dose unchanged; 2. lengthening the irradiation interval. Therefore we made a new protocols and provide further insights into the treatment: Total 20 Gy (4 days): Anterior chest wall, Scapular region and Suprapuvic region; Total 10 Gy (2 days): Ear lobe; Total 15 Gy (3 days): Others.

Tietze's syndrome, a nonsuppurative, tender swelling of the anterior chest wall, is a disorder of uncertain etiology and pathology, unassociated with constitutional disturbances, and of a prolonged fluctuating course. Familiarity with the uniform clinical manifestations of this relatively frequent entity makes its recognition fairly simple. The therapeutic approach includes reassurance of the patient as to the benign nature of this condition, along with supportive measures chiefly to allay pain. Le therapeutica include reassecurar le patiente con respecto al character benigne de iste condition e le uso de mesuras supportative, principalmente pro alleviar le dolores.

One hundred fifty-nine computed tomographic (CT) scans were performed on 123 patients (90 Hodgkin's disease and 33 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma). Seventeen patients were shown to have involvement of the chest wall. Computed tomographic scans were more sensitive in detecting chest wall lesions than conventional x-rays and clinical examination. This information was important in staging the extent of disease at presentation, guiding radiation therapy, and assessing response to treatment. The anterior chest wall was most commonly affected with or without associated anterior mediastinal disease, but other sites also were involved.

The principle of including an underlying skeletal muscle in the design of a large skin flap, to assure a safer blood supply during transfer, has been applied to the chest wall. Pectoralis major is included in a chest flap used for the repair of a large defect of all layers of the anterior chest wall, including the medial ends of the clavicles and upper two ribs and the manubrium sterni.
