Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is an enveloped RNA virus in the order Nidovirales, family Arteriviridae, genus Betaarterivirus. Antibodies against nonstructural proteins (NSPs) from this virus can be found in pigs starting 4 days postinfection and they remain detectable for several months.The goal of this study was to evaluate the immunogenicity and antigenic properties of recombinant proteins NSP1 and NSP11 expressed in Escherichia coli cells, as well as to assess the neutralization activity that they elicit.We obtained the complete ORF-1 genes coding for NSP1 and NSP11 from PRRSV using the VR-2332 strain. Cloning was performed with the pET23a(+) vector with a histidine tag (His6), linearized by restriction enzyme digestion; the expression of the NSP1 and NSP11 clones was induced in OverExpress C41(DE3) chemically competent cells. Recombinant proteins were used to generate hyperimmune sera and we perform serological assays to confirm neutralizing antibodies.The expressed recombinant NSP1 and NSP11 were found to be immunogenic when injected in pigs, as well as demonstrated higher specificity in recognition of antigen in field sera from pigs positive infected with PRRSV. Furthermore, both NSP1 and NSP11 recombinant proteins elicited PRRSV neutralizing antibodies.In this study, we demonstrated the immune humoral response to NSP 1 and NSP11, and neutralizing-antibody response to PRRSV VR2332 strain in sera from hyperimmunized pigs.

Introduction Traumatic memories of events such as a life‐threatening incident, serious injury, or sexual violence are a core symptom of stress‐related disorders; they might be susceptible to positive modification with interference tasks (reconsolidation‐based interventions). Our objective was to test the effect of performing a motor interference task (finger tapping in response to audio cues) on patients who suffer from traumatic memories. Methods We designed an uncontrolled pilot prospective clinical trial. Ten participants listened to an audio track that instructed them to tap their fingers in response to specific audio cues while trying to recall the traumatic event. Each patient underwent an assessment including the Spanish version of the PTSD Symptom Severity Scale‐Revised (EGS‐R), the visual analogue scale (EQ‐VAS) from EuroQol 5D (EQ‐5D), and a simple visual analogue scale (VAS) before the intervention, immediately after, and a week after the treatment. Results All measures exhibited a statistically significant improvement 1 week after the study. On the PTSD scale, 1 week later, 30% of the patients did not score high enough for such diagnosis. The acaricidal effects of 55 strains of Metarhizium anisopliae (Metschnikoff) Sorokin, 1883 (Hypocreales: Clavicipitaceae) isolated from paddocks of cattle farms were evaluated in two Rhipicephalus microplus (Canestrini 1887) (Ixodida: Ixodidae) populations, of which one was multi-resistant and one was susceptible to chemical acaricides. Percentage mortality and reproductive efficiency indices in R. microplus were evaluated by adult immersion tests at a dose of 1 × 108 conidia/mL for each fungal strain. Some strains were selected to calculate lethal concentrations to kill 50% (LC50) and 99% (LC99) of engorged ticks. Strains MaV22, MaV26 and MaV55 induced 100% mortality in R. microplus on day 14. Strains MaV05, MaV09 and MaV22 caused mortality of >90% from day 12 onward in both tick populations. The most effective acaricidal fungal strain, MaV55, inhibited egg laying by 54.86 and 55.86% in acaricide-resistant and -susceptible R. microplus populations, respectively. None of the fungal strains had statistically significant effects on larval hatching. In conclusion, nine strains of M. anisopliae demonstrated high acaricidal effects against R. microplus and reduced its egg laying. No differences in acaricidal effects were observed between the two populations of ticks tested.

The potential advantages of applying encapsulated ionic liquid (ENIL) to CO2 capture by chemical absorption with 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate [bmim][acetate] are evaluated. The [bmim][acetate]-ENIL is a particle material with solid appearance and 70 % w/w in ionic liquid (IL). The performance of this material as CO2 sorbent was evaluated by gravimetric and fixed-bed sorption experiments at different temperatures and CO2 partial pressures. ENIL maintains the favourable thermodynamic properties of the neat IL regarding CO2 absorption. Remarkably, a drastic increase of CO2 sorption rates was achieved using ENIL, related to much higher contact area after discretization. In addition, experiments demonstrate reversibility of the chemical reaction and the efficient ENIL regeneration, mainly hindered by the unfavourable transport properties. The common drawback of ILs as CO2 chemical absorbents (low absorption rate and difficulties in solvent regeneration) are overcome by using ENIL systems.
