In this paper, I propose to analyze Juan Vicente Melo's La obediencia nocturna as a confessional novel understanding by confession the narrative sequence integrated by three moments identified by J.M. Coetzee as transgression, confession and absolution. The transgression is understood as a serious fault that threatens a vital order, through confession, the act that interrupts this order is made aware; whereas absolution means the moment in which memory is liberated and in which we witness the revelation of the truth that allows the unification of life. I also complement this analysis with the concepts of escape, search of support and evidence proposed by Maria Zambrano. Reading this novel as a confession, grants one to consider the story of the protagonist's life in crisis not as an end in itself, but as a mean from which a personal truth is revealed to him and allows to operate a change in his state.
