In a recent paper [JUKIĆ, D.: A necessary and sufficient criterion for the existence of the global minima of a continuous lower bounded function on a noncompact set, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 375 (2020)], a new existence level was introduced and then was used to obtain a necessary and sufficient criterion for the existence of the global minima of a continuous lower bounded function on a noncompact set. In this paper, we determined that existence level for the residual sum of squares of the power-law regression with an unknown location parameter, and so we obtained a necessary and sufficient condition which guarantee the existence of the least squares estimate.

This paper aims at producing numerical solutions of nonlinear parabolic PDEs with forcing term without any linearization. Since the linearization of nonlinear term leads to lose real features, without doing linearization, this paper focuses on capturing natural behaviour of the mechanism. Therefore we concentrate on analysis of the physical processes without losing their properties. To carry out this study, a backward differentiation formula in time and a spline method in space have been combined in leading to the discretized equation. This method leads to a very reliable alternative in solving the problem by conserving the physical properties of the nature. The efficiency of the present method are proved theoretically and illustrated by various numerical tests.

In a recent paper, Sokół et al. [Applications of k-Fibonacci numbers for the starlike analytic functions, Hacet. J. Math. Stat. 44(1) (2015), 121{127] obtained an upper bound for the Fekete-Szegö functionalϕλwhenλ 2R of functions belong to the classSLkconnected withk-Fibonacci numbers. The main purpose of this paper is to obtain sharp bounds forϕλbothλ 2R andλ 2C.

In recent years, the problem of estimating Hankel determinants has attracted the attention of many mathematicians. Their research have been focused mainly on deriving the bounds of H 2 , 2 {H_{2,2}} or H 3 , 1 {H_{3,1}} over different subclasses of 𝒮 {\mathcal{S}} . Only in a few papers third Hankel determinants for non-univalent functions were considered. In this paper, we consider two classes of analytic functions with real coefficients. The first one is the class 𝒯 {\mathcal{T}} of typically real functions. The second object of our interest is 𝒦 ℝ ⁢ ( i ) {\mathcal{K}_{\mathbb{R}}(i)} , the class of functions with real coefficients which are convex in the direction of the imaginary axis. In both classes, we find lower and upper bounds of the third Hankel determinant. The results are sharp.

In this paper, we develop the theory of a class of casual differential equations on a time scale. An existence theorem for casual differential equations on a time scale is given under mixed Lipschitz and compactness conditions by the fixed point theorem in Banach algebra due to Dhage. Some fundamental differential inequalities on a time scale are also presented which are utilized to investigate the existence of extremal solutions. The comparison principle on casual differential equations on a time scale is established. Our results in this paper extend and improve some well-known results.

In this paper, the global exponential stability and periodicity are investigated for delayed neural network models with continuous coefficients and piecewise constant delay of generalized type. The sufficient condition for the existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions of the model is established by applying Banach’s fixed point theorem and the successive approximations method. By constructing suitable differential inequalities with generalized piecewise constant delay, some sufficient conditions for the global exponential stability of the model are obtained. Typical numerical examples with simulations are utilized to illustrate the validity and improvement in less conservatism of the theoretical results. This paper ends with a brief conclusion.

In this paper we establish general weighted Hardy identities for several subelliptic settings including Hardy identities on the Heisenberg group, Carnot groups with respect to a homogeneous gauge and Carnot–Carathéodory metric, general nilpotent groups, and certain families of Hörmander vector fields. We also introduce new weighted uncertainty principles in these settings. This is done by continuing the program initiated by [N. Lam, G. Lu and L. Zhang, Factorizations and Hardy’s-type identities and inequalities on upper half spaces, Calc. Var. Partial Differential Equations 58 2019, 6, Paper No. 183; N. Lam, G. Lu and L. Zhang, Geometric Hardy’s inequalities with general distance functions, J. Funct. Anal. 279 2020, 8, Article ID 108673] of using the Bessel pairs introduced by [N. Ghoussoub and A. Moradifam, Functional Inequalities: New Perspectives and New Applications, Math. Surveys Monogr. 187, American Mathematical Society, Providence, 2013] to obtain Hardy identities. Using these identities, we are able to improve significantly existing Hardy inequalities in the literature in the aforementioned subelliptic settings. In particular, we establish the Hardy identities and inequalities in the spirit of [H. Brezis and J. L. Vázquez, Blow-up solutions of some nonlinear elliptic problems, Rev. Mat. Univ. Complut. Madrid 10 1997, 443–469] and [H. Brezis and M. Marcus, Hardy’s inequalities revisited. Dedicated to Ennio De Giorgi, Ann. Sc. Norm. Super. Pisa Cl. Sci. (4) 25 1997, 1–2, 217–237] in these settings.

Our considerations are inspired by the papers [13, 14] in which the continuous solutions of the first equation on abelian topological groups were determined.

Aspace X is said to have the absolutely strongly star -𝒤-Hurewicz (ASS𝒤H) property if for each sequence (𝒰 n : n ∈ 𝕅)of opencovers of X and each dense subset Y of X, there is a sequence (Fn : n ∈ 𝕅) of finite subsets of Y such that for each x ∈ X, {n ∈ 𝕅 : x ∉ St(Fn , 𝒰 n )}∈ 𝒤, where 𝒤 is the proper admissible ideal of 𝕅. In this paper, we investigate the relationship between the ASS𝒤H property and other related properties and study the topological properties of the ASS𝒤H property. This paper generalizes several results of Song [25] to the larger class of spaces having the ASS𝒤H properties.

In this paper, by using lower bounds for linear forms in logarithms of algebraic numbers and the theory of continued fractions, we find all Fibonacci numbers that appear in generalized Pell sequences. Some interesting estimations involving generalized Pell numbers, that we believe are of independent interest, are also deduced. This paper continues a previous work that searched for Fibonacci numbers in the Pell sequence.

This paper relates to a recent trend in complex differential equations which studies solutions in a given domain. The classical settings in complex equations were widely studied for meromorphic solutions in the complex plane. For functions in the complex plane, we have a lot of results of general nature, in particular, the classical value distributions theory describing numbers of a-points. Many of these results do not work for functions in a given domain. A recent principle of derivatives permits us to study the numbers of Ahlfors simple islands for functions in a given domain; the islands play, to some extend, a role similar to that of the numbers of simple a-points. In this paper, we consider a large class of higher order differential equations admitting meromorphic solutions in a given domain. Applying the principle of derivatives, we get the upper bounds for the numbers of Ahlfors simple islands of similar solutions.

The subject of the paper is suggested by G. Janelidze and motivated by his earlier result giving a positive answer to the question posed by S. MacLane whether the Galois theory of homogeneous linear ordinary differential equations over a differential field (which is Kolchin–Ritt theory and an algebraic version of Picard–Vessiot theory) can be obtained as a particular case of G. Janelidze’s Galois theory in categories. One ground category in the Galois structure involved in this theory is dual to the category of commutative rings with unit, and another one is dual to the category of commutative differential rings with unit. In the present paper, we apply the general categorical construction, the particular case of which gives this Galois structure, by replacing “commutative rings with unit” by algebras from any variety V \mathscr{V} of universal algebras satisfying the amalgamation property and a certain condition (of the syntactical nature) for elements of amalgamated free products which was introduced earlier, and replacing “commutative differential rings with unit” by V \mathscr{V} -algebras equipped with additional unary operations which satisfy some special identities to construct a new Galois structure. It is proved that this Galois structure is admissible. Moreover, normal extensions with respect to it are characterized in the case where V \mathscr{V} is any of the following varieties: abelian groups, loops and quasigroups.

In this paper we establish a new critical point theorem for a class of perturbed differentiable functionals without satisfying the Palais–Smale condition. We prove the existence of at least one critical point to such functionals, provided that the perturbation is sufficiently small. The main abstract result of this paper is applied both to perturbed nonhomogeneous equations in Orlicz–Sobolev spaces and to nonlocal problems in fractional Sobolev spaces.

In this study, at first we prove that the existence of best proximity points for cyclic nonexpansive mappings is equivalent to the existence of best proximity pairs for noncyclic nonexpansive mappings in the setting of strictly convex Banach spaces by using the projection operator. In this way, we conclude that the main result of the paper [Proximal normal structure and nonexpansive mappings, Studia Math. 171 (2005), 283–293] immediately follows. We then discuss the convergence of best proximity pairs for noncyclic contractions by applying the convergence of iterative sequences for cyclic contractions and show that the convergence method of a recent paper [Convergence of Picard's iteration using projection algorithm for noncyclic contractions, Indag. Math. 30 (2019), no. 1, 227–239] is obtained exactly from Picard’s iteration sequence.

In this paper we deal with positive radially symmetric solutions for a boundary value problem containing a strongly nonlinear operator. The proof of existence of positive solutions that we give uses the blow-up method as a main ingredient for the search of a-priori bounds of solutions. The blow-up argument is one by contradiction and uses a sort of scaling, reminiscent to the one used in the theory of minimal surfaces, see [B. Gidas and J. Spruck, A priori bounds for positive solutions of nonlinear elliptic equations, Comm. Partial Differential Equations 6 1981, 883–901], and therefore the homogeneity of the operators, Laplacian or p-Laplacian, and second members powers or power like functions play a fundamental role in the method. Thus, when the differential operators are no longer homogeneous, and similarly for the second members, applying the blow-up method to obtain a-priori bounds of solutions seems an almost impossible task. In spite of this fact, in [M. García-Huidobro, I. Guerra and R. Manásevich, Existence of positive radial solutions for a weakly coupled system via blow up, Abstr. Appl. Anal. 3 1998, 1–2, 105–131], we were able to overcome this difficulty and obtain a-priori bounds for a certain (simpler) type of problems. We show in this paper that the asymptotically homogeneous functions provide, in the same sense, a nonlinear rescaling, that allows us to generalize the blow-up method to our present situation. After the a-priori bounds are obtained, the existence of a solution follows from Leray–Schauder topological degree theory.

This paper gives an explicit formula of the asymptotic expansion of the Kobayashi–Royden metric on the punctured sphere ℂ ⁢ ℙ 1 ∖ { 0 , 1 , ∞ } {\mathbb{CP}^{1}\setminus\{0,1,\infty\}} in terms of the exponential Bell polynomials. We prove a local quantitative version of the Little Picard’s Theorem as an application of the asymptotic expansion. Furthermore, the approach in the paper leads to the interesting consequence that the coefficients in the asymptotic expansion are rational numbers. Furthermore, the explicit formula of the metric and the conclusion regarding the coefficients apply to more general cases of ℂ ⁢ ℙ 1 ∖ { a 1 , … , a n } {\mathbb{CP}^{1}\setminus\{a_{1},\ldots,a_{n}\}} , n ≥ 3 {n\geq 3} , as well, and the metric on ℂ ⁢ ℙ 1 ∖ { 0 , 1 3 , - 1 6 ± 3 6 ⁢ i } {\mathbb{CP}^{1}\setminus\{0,\frac{1}{3},-\frac{1}{6}\pm\frac{\sqrt{3}}{6}i\}} will be given as a concrete example of our results.

In recent papers, new sets of Sheffer and Brenke polynomials based on higher order Bell numbers and several integer sequences related to them have been studied. In the present paper, new sets of Bell–Sheffer polynomials are introduced. Connections with Bell numbers are shown.

The authors developed in a recent paper natural dualities for finitely generated quasivarieties of Sugihara algebras. They thereby identified the admissibility algebras for these quasivarieties which, via the Test Spaces Method devised by Cabrer et al., give access to a viable method for studying admissible rules within relevance logic, specifically for extensions of the deductive system R-mingle.This paper builds on the work already done on the theory of natural dualities for Sugihara algebras. Its purpose is to provide an integrated suite of multisorted duality theorems of a uniform type, encompassing finitely generated quasivarieties and varieties of both Sugihara algebras and Sugihara monoids, and embracing both the odd and the even cases. The overarching theoretical framework of multisorted duality theory developed here leads on to amenable representations of free algebras. More widely, it provides a springboard to further applications.

In this paper, we develop the elementary theory of inverse semigroups to the cases of type B semigroups. The main aim of this paper is to study proper type B semigroups. We introduce first the concept of a left admissible triple. After obtaining some basic properties of left admissible triple, we give the definition of a Q-semigroup and get a structure theorem of Q-semigroup. In particular, we introduce the notion of an admissible triple and give some characterization of proper type B semigroups. It is proved that an arbitrary Q-semigroup with an admissible triple is an E-unitary type B semigroup.

In this paper, we consider the wavelet estimators of a nonparametric regression model based on widely orthant dependent random errors. The moment consistency and the completely consistency for wavelet estimators under some more mild moment conditions are investigated. The results obtained in the paper improve and extend the corresponding ones for dependent random variables. Finally, we provide a numerical simulation to verify the validity of our results.

The presented paper is strictly connected, among others, with the paper On the sum of some alternating series, Comp. Math. Appl. (2011), written by Wituła and Słota. A problem concerning the form of determinants formulated in the cited paper is solved here. Next, the obtained result is adapted to solve some system of linear equations and the description of the sum of alternating series.

This paper proves the boundedness of the generalized Riesz potentials I ρ , μ , τ ⁢ f {I_{\rho,\mu,\tau}f} of functions in the Morrey space L ( 1 , φ ; κ ) ⁢ ( G ) {L^{(1,\varphi;\kappa)}(G)} over a general measure space X, with G a bounded open set in X (or G is X ) {X)} , as an extension of earlier results. The modification parameter τ is introduced for the purpose of including the case where the underlying measure does not satisfy the doubling condition. What is new in the present paper is that ρ depends on x ∈ X {x\in X} . An example in the end of this article convincingly explains why the modification parameter τ must be introduced.

We define the concepts of commutator (Krylov) transitive and strongly commutator (Krylov) transitive Abelian p-groups. These two innovations are respectively non-trivial generalizations of the notions of commutator fully transitive and strongly commutator fully transitive p-groups from a paper of Chekhlov and Danchev (J. Group Theory, 2015). They are also commutator socle-regular in the sense of Danchev and Goldsmith (J. Group Theory, 2014). Various results from there and from a paper of Goldsmith and Strüngmann (Houston J. Math., 2007) are considerably extended to this new point of view. We also define and explore the concept of a commutator weakly transitive Abelian p-group, comparing its properties with those of the aforementioned two group classes. Some affirmations, sounding quite curiously, are detected in order to illustrate the pathology of the commutators in the endomorphism rings of p-primary Abelian groups.

This paper studies the bounded approximation property (BAP) in quasi-Banach spaces. In the first part of the paper, we show that the kernel of any surjective operator ℓ p → X {\ell_{p}\to X} has the BAP when X has it and 0 < p ≤ 1 {0 , which is an analogue of the corresponding result of Lusky for Banach spaces. We then obtain and study nonlocally convex versions of the Kadec–Pełczyński–Wojtaszczyk complementably universal spaces for Banach spaces with the BAP.

In this paper, we continue to investigate the exceptional sets for sums of five and six almost equal cubes of primes. We would also like to establish that almost all natural numbers n, subjected to certain congruence conditions, can be written as n = p 1 3 + ⋯ + p s 3 {n=p_{1}^{3}+\cdots+p_{s}^{3}} ( s = 5 , 6 {s=5,6} ) with | p j - ( n / s ) 1 / 3 | ≤ n θ s / 3 + ε {|p_{j}-(n/s)^{1/3}|\leq n^{\theta_{s}/3+\varepsilon}} ( 1 ≤ j ≤ s {1\leq j\leq s} ), where θ s {\theta_{s}} is as small as possible. The main result of this paper is to improve θ 6 = 5 / 6 + ε {\theta_{6}=5/6+\varepsilon} , which is proven in [M. Wang, Exceptional sets for sums of five and six almost equal prime cubes, Acta Math. Hungar. 156 2018, 2, 424–434], to θ 6 = 9 / 11 + ε {\theta_{6}=9/11+\varepsilon} , as well as prove θ 5 = 8 / 9 + ε {\theta_{5}=8/9+\varepsilon} in another way.

In the present paper, we introduce a certain subclass 𝒦q(λ, γ, h) of analytic functions by means of a quasi-subordination. Sharp bounds of the Fekete-Szegő functional for functions belonging to the class 𝒦q(λ, γ, h) are obtained. The results presented in the paper give improved versions for the certain subclasses involving the quasi-subordination and majorization.

Overf the last few years, by utilizing Mawhin’s continuation theorem of coincidence degree theory and Lyapunov functional, many scholars have been concerned with the global asymptotical stability of positive periodic solutions for the non-linear ecosystems. In the real world, almost periodicity is usually more realistic and more general than periodicity, but there are scarcely any papers concerning the issue of the global asymptotical stability of positive almost periodic solutions of non-linear ecosystems. In this paper we consider a kind of delayed two-species competitive model with stage structure. By means of Mawhin’s continuation theorem of coincidence degree theory, some sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence of at least one positive almost periodic solutions for the above model with nonnegative coefficients. Furthermore, the global asymptotical stability of positive almost periodic solution of the model is also studied. The work of this paper extends and improves some results in recent years. An example and simulations are employed to illustrate the main results of this paper.

The concept of generalized digroup was proposed by Salazar-Díaz, Velásquez and Wills-Toro in their paper “Generalized digroups” as a non trivial extension of groups. In this way, many concepts and results given in the category of groups can be extended in a natural form to the category of generalized digroups. The aim of this paper is to present the construction of the free generalized digroup and study its properties. Although this construction is vastly different from the one given for the case of groups, we will use this concept, the classical construction for groups and the semidirect product to construct the tensor generalized digroup as well as the semidirect product of generalized digroups. Additionally, we give a new structural result for generalized digroups using compatible actions of groups and an equivariant map from a group set to the group corresponding to notions of associative dialgebras and augmented racks.

In the present paper, we discuss the approximation properties of Jain–Baskakov operators with parameter c. The paper deals with the modified forms of the Baskakov basis functions. Some direct results are established, which include the asymptotic formula, error estimation in terms of the modulus of continuity and weighted approximation. Also, we construct the King modification of these operators, which preserves the test functions e 0 {e_{0}} and e 1 {e_{1}} . It is shown that these King type operators provide a better approximation order than some Baskakov–Durrmeyer operators for continuous functions defined on some closed intervals.

The aim of this paper is to discuss the existence of mild solutions for a class of semilinear stochastic partial differential equation with nonlocal initial conditions and noncompact semigroups in a real separable Hilbert space. Combined with the theory of stochastic analysis and operator semigroups, a generalized Darbo’s fixed point theorem and a new estimation technique of the measure of noncompactness, we obtained the existence of mild solutions under the situation that the nonlinear term and nonlocal function satisfy some appropriate local growth conditions and a noncompactness measure condition. In addition, the condition of uniformly continuity of the nonlinearity is not required and also the strong restriction on the constants in the condition of noncompactness measure is completely deleted in this paper. An example to illustrate the feasibility of the main results is also given.

In this paper, the complete convergence for the weighted sums of arrays of rowwise extended negatively dependent (END, for short) random variables is established under some mild conditions. In addition, the Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund type strong law of large numbers for arrays of rowwise END random variables is also obtained. The result obtained in the paper generalizes and improves some corresponding ones for independent random variables and some dependent random variables in some extent. By using the complete convergence that we established, we further study the complete consistency for the weighted estimator in a nonparametric regression model based on END errors.

[EN] This paper presents a methodology to quantify computationally the uncertainty in a class of differential equations often met in Mathematical Physics, namely random non-autonomous second-order linear differential equations, via adaptive generalized Polynomial Chaos (gPC) and the stochastic Galerkin projection technique. Unlike the random Frobenius method, which can only deal with particular random linear differential equations and needs the random inputs (coefficients and forcing term) to be analytic, adaptive gPC allows approximating the expectation and covariance of the solution stochastic process to general random second-order linear differential equations. The random inputs are allowed to functionally depend on random variables that may be independent or dependent, both absolutely continuous or discrete with infinitely many point masses. These hypotheses include a wide variety of particular differential equations, which might not be solvable via the random Frobenius method, in which the random input coefficients may be expressed via a Karhunen-Loeve expansion., This work has been supported by the Spanish Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad grant MTM2017-89664-P. The paper deals with the nonlinear tensor diffusion which yields a coherence improvement. It is very appropriate for images with flow-like structures. Two convolutions are used in the construction of diffusion tensor for such a model, see [Drblíková, O.—Mikula, K.: Convergence analysis of finite volume scheme for nonlinear tensor anisotropic diffusion in image processing, SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 46 (2007), 37–60], [Weickert, J.: Coherence-enhancing diffusion filtering, Int. J. Comput. Vis. 31 (1999), 111–127]. In this paper we introduce the third supplemental convolution in order to enhance the diffusion strategy. First, we briefly present the classical coherence enhancing model and explain our modification. Then the discrete scheme is provided. The core of the paper consists in numerical experiments. Benefits of the additional convolution are discussed and illustrated in the figures.

In the paper, the authors provide five alternative proofs of two formulas for a tridiagonal determinant, supply a detailed proof of the inverse of the corresponding tridiagonal matrix, and provide a proof for a formula of another tridiagonal determinant. This is a companion of the paper [F. Qi, V. Čerňanová,and Y. S. Semenov, Some tridiagonal determinants related to central Delannoy numbers, the Chebyshev polynomials, and the Fibonacci polynomials, Politehn. Univ. Bucharest Sci. Bull. Ser. A Appl. Math. Š. Schwarz in his paper [SCHWARZ, Š.:Zur Theorie der Halbgruppen, Sborník prác Prírodovedeckej fakulty Slovenskej univerzity v Bratislave, Vol. VI, Bratislava, 1943, 64 pp.] proved the existence of maximal subgroups in periodic semigroups and a decade later he brought into play the maximal subsemigroups and thus he embodied the idempotents in the structural description of semigroups [SCHWARZ, Š.:Contribution to the theory of torsion semigroups, Czechoslovak Math. J.3(1) (1953), 7–21]. Later in his papers he showed that a proper description of these structural elements can be used to (re)prove many useful and important results in algebra and number theory. The present paper gives a survey of selected results scattered throughout the literature where an semigroup approach based on tools like idempotent, maximal subgroup or maximal subsemigroup either led to a new insight into the substance of the known results or helped to discover new approach to solve problems. Special attention will be given to some disregarded historical connections between semigroup and ring theory.

As a continuation of a previous paper, we prove Perelman’s assertion, that is, for ancient solutions to the Ricci flow with bounded nonnegative curvature operator, uniformly bounded entropy is equivalent to κ-noncollapsing on all scales. We also establish an equality between the asymptotic entropy and the asymptotic reduced volume, which is a result similar to a paper by Xu (2017), where he assumes the Type I curvature bound.

This paper is the complementary work of [S. Cho, Group schemes and local densities of ramified hermitian lattices in residue characteristic 2: Part I, Algebra Number Theory 10 2016, 3, 451–532]. Ramified quadratic extensions E / F {E/F} , where F is a finite unramified field extension of ℚ 2 {\mathbb{Q}_{2}} , fall into two cases that we call Case 1 and Case 2. In our previous work, we obtained the local density formula for a ramified hermitian lattice in Case 1. In this paper, we obtain the local density formula for the remaining Case 2, by constructing a smooth integral group scheme model for an appropriate unitary group. Consequently, this paper, combined with [W. T. Gan and J.-K. Yu, Group schemes and local densities, Duke Math. J. 105 2000, 3, 497–524] and our previous work, allows the computation of the mass formula for any hermitian lattice ( L , H ) {(L,H)} , when a base field is unramified over ℚ {\mathbb{Q}} at a prime ( 2 ) {(2)} .

In this paper, we introduce the flag-wise positively curved condition for Finsler spaces (the (FP) Condition), which means that in each tangent plane, we can find a flag pole in this plane such that the corresponding flag has positive flag curvature. Applying the Killing navigation technique, we find a list of compact coset spaces admitting non-negatively curved homogeneous Finsler metrics satisfying the (FP) Condition. Using a crucial technique we developed previously, we prove that most of these coset spaces cannot be endowed with positively curved homogeneous Finsler metrics. We also prove that any Lie group whose Lie algebra is a rank $2$ non-Abelian compact Lie algebra admits a left invariant Finsler metric satisfying the (FP) condition. As by-products, we find the first example of non-compact coset space $S^3\times \mathbb{R}$ which admits homogeneous flag-wise positively curved Finsler metrics. Moreover, we find some non-negatively curved Finsler metrics on $S^2\times S^3$ and $S^6\times S^7$ which satisfy the (FP) condition, as well as some flag-wise positively curved Finsler metrics on $S^3\times S^3$, shedding some light on the long standing general Hopf conjecture., 23 pages. The main aim of this paper is to obtain Maia type fixed point results for Ćirić-Prešić contraction condition, following Ćirić L. B. and Prešić S. B. result proved in [Ćirić L. B.; Prešić S. B. On Prešić type generalization of the Banach contraction mapping principle, Acta Math. Univ. Comenian. (N.S.), 2007, v 76, no. 2, 143–147] and Luong N. V. and Thuan N. X. result in [Luong, N. V., Thuan, N. X., Some fixed point theorems of Prešić-Ćirić type, Acta Univ. Apulensis Math. Inform., No. 30, (2012), 237–249]. We unified these theorems with Maia’s fixed point theorem proved in [Maia, Maria Grazia. Un’osservazione sulle contrazioni metriche. (Italian) Rend. Sem. Mat. Univ. Padova 40 1968 139–143] and the obtained results are proved is the present paper. An example is also provided.

This paper is devoted to the study of a nonlinear Euler-Bernoulli Beam type equation involving both left and right Caputo fractional derivatives. Differently from the approaches of the other papers where they established the existence of solution for the linear Euler-Bernoulli Beam type equation numerically, we use the lower and upper solutions method with some new results on the monotonicity of the right Caputo derivative. Furthermore, we give the explicit expression of the upper and lower solutions. A numerical example is given to illustrate the obtained results.

In this paper, we first establish a kind of weighted space-time L 2 {L^{2}} estimate, which belongs to Keel–Smith–Sogge-type estimates, for perturbed linear elastic wave equations. This estimate refines the corresponding one established by the second author [D. Zha, Space-time L 2 L^{2} estimates for elastic waves and applications, J. Differential Equations 263 2017, 4, 1947–1965] and is proved by combining the methods in the former paper, the first author, Wang and Yokoyama’s paper [K. Hidano, C. Wang and K. Yokoyama, On almost global existence and local well posedness for some 3-D quasi-linear wave equations, Adv. Differential Equations 17 2012, 3–4, 267–306] and some new ingredients. Then, together with some weighted Sobolev inequalities, this estimate is used to show a refined version of almost global existence of classical solutions for nonlinear elastic waves with small initial data. Compared with former almost global existence results for nonlinear elastic waves due to John [F. John, Almost global existence of elastic waves of finite amplitude arising from small initial disturbances, Comm. Pure Appl. Math. 41 1988, 5, 615–666] and Klainerman and Sideris [S. Klainerman and T. C. Sideris, On almost global existence for nonrelativistic wave equations in 3D, Comm. Pure Appl. Math. 49 1996, 307–321], the main innovation of our result is that it considerably improves the amount of regularity of initial data, i.e., the Sobolev regularity of initial data is assumed to be the smallest among all the admissible Sobolev spaces of integer order in the standard local existence theory. Finally, in the radially symmetric case, we establish the almost global existence of a low regularity solution for every small initial data in H 3 × H 2 {H^{3}\times H^{2}} .

In the paper, we investigate the relation between the properties of functions and their Fourier–Haar coefficients. We show that for some classes of functions Fourier–Haar coefficients have constant signs and order of magnitude. In 1964, Golubov proved in [B. I. Golubov, On Fourier series of continuous functions with respect to a Haar system (in Russian), Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR Ser. Mat. 28 1964, 1271–1296] that if f ⁢ ( x ) ∈ C ⁢ ( 0 , 1 ) {f(x)\in C(0,1)} , then its Fourier–Haar coefficients have constant signs when f ⁢ ( x ) {f(x)} is a nonincreasing function on [ 0 , 1 ] {[0,1]} , and in some cases those coefficients have a certain order of magnitude. In the present paper, we continue to investigate the properties of functions which follow from the behavior of their Fourier–Haar coefficients.

In this paper a general fixed point theorem for mappings with a new type of common limit range property satisfying a mixed implicit relation is proved. In the last part of the paper, as application, some fixed point results for mappings satisfying contractive conditions of integral type and for φ-contractive mappings are obtained.

The value distribution and, in particular, the numbers of a-points, have not been studied for meromorphic functions which are solutions of some complex differential equations in a given domain. Instead, the numbers of good a-points and Ahlfors islands, which play to a certain extend a role similar to that of the numbers of a-points, have been considered in some recent papers. In this paper, we consider meromorphic functions in a given domain, which are the solutions of some higher order equations and largely generalize the solutions of Painlevé equations 3–6. We give the upper bounds for the numbers of good a-points and Ahlfors islands of similar solutions.

In this paper, we are concerned with the existence and concentration phenomena of solutions for the following singularly perturbed fractional Schrödinger problem: ε 2 ⁢ s ⁢ ( - Δ ) s ⁢ u + V ⁢ ( x ) ⁢ u = f ⁢ ( u ) in ⁢ ℝ N , \varepsilon^{2s}(-\Delta)^{s}u+V(x)u=f(u)\quad\text{in }\mathbb{R}^{N}, where N > 2 ⁢ s {N>2s} and the nonlinearity f has critical growth. By using the variational approach, we construct a localized bound-state solution concentrating around an isolated component of the positive minimum point of V as ε → 0 {\varepsilon\rightarrow 0} . Our result improves the study made in [X. He and W. Zou, Existence and concentration result for the fractional Schrödinger equations with critical nonlinearities, Calc. Var. Partial Differential Equations 55 2016, 4, Article ID 91], in the sense that, in the present paper, the Ambrosetti–Rabinowitz condition and the monotonicity condition on f ⁢ ( t ) / t {f(t)/t} are not required.

The symbol 𝓢 c (X) denotes the hyperspace of all nontrivial convergent sequences in a Hausdorff space X. This hyperspace is endowed with the Vietoris topology. In the current paper, we compare the cellularity, the tightness, the extent, the dispersion character, the net weight, the i-weight, the π-weight, the π-character, the pseudocharacter and the Lindelöf number of 𝓢 c (X) with the corresponding cardinal function of X. We also answer a question posed by the authors in a previous paper.

We obtain the upper bound of the second Hankel determinant | a2a4− a 3 2 $\begin{array}{} a^2_3 \end{array} $ | for functions belonging to the this class is studied using Toeplitz determinants. The results, which are presented in this paper, would generalize those in related works of several earlier authors.

In the present paper, for an inverse sequence of pointed topological semi-simplicial sets and fibrations preserving base points E ¯ = E ¯ ← p 1 1 E ¯ ← p 2 2 ⋯ ← p m E ¯ ← m + 1 ⋯ , \underline{E}=\underline{E}{}_{1}\xleftarrow{p_{1}}\underline{E}{}_{2}% \xleftarrow{p_{2}}\cdots\xleftarrow{p_{m}}\underline{E}{}_{m+1}\xleftarrow{% \hphantom{p_{1}}}\cdots, an analogous formula is proved.

Arone and the second author showed that when the dimensions are in the stable range, the rational homology and homotopy of the high-dimensional analogues of spaces of long knots can be calculated as the homology of a direct sum of finite graph-complexes that they described explicitly. They also showed that these homology and homotopy groups can be interpreted as the higher-order Hochschild homology, also called Hochschild–Pirashvili homology. In this paper, we generalize all these results to high-dimensional analogues of spaces of string links. The methods of our paper are applicable in the range when the ambient dimension is at least twice the maximal dimension of a link component plus two, which in particular guarantees that the spaces under study are connected. However, we conjecture that our homotopy graph-complex computes the rational homotopy groups of link spaces always when the codimension is greater than two, i.e. always when the Goodwillie–Weiss calculus is applicable. Using Haefliger’s approach to calculate the groups of isotopy classes of higher-dimensional links, we confirm our conjecture at the level of π 0 {\pi_{0}} .

In this paper, we introduce some classes of R-modules that are closely related to the classes of Prüfer, Dedekind and Bezout modules. Let R be a commutative ring with identity and set ℍ = { M ∣ M ⁢ is an ⁢ R ⁢ -module and ⁢ Nil ⁢ ( M ) ⁢ is a divided prime submodule of ⁢ M } . \mathbb{H}=\bigl{\{}M\mid M\text{ is an }R\text{-module and }\mathrm{Nil}(M)% \text{ is a divided prime submodule of }M\bigr{\}}. For an R-module M ∈ ℍ {M\in\mathbb{H}} , set T = ( R ∖ Z ⁢ ( R ) ) ∩ ( R ∖ Z ⁢ ( M ) ) {T=(R\setminus Z(R))\cap(R\setminus Z(M))} , 𝔗 ⁢ ( M ) = T - 1 ⁢ M {\mathfrak{T}(M)=T^{-1}M} and P = ( Nil ( M ) : R M ) {P=(\mathrm{Nil}(M):_{R}M)} . In this case, the mapping Φ : 𝔗 ⁢ ( M ) → M P {\Phi:\mathfrak{T}(M)\to M_{P}} given by Φ ⁢ ( x / s ) = x / s {\Phi(x/s)=x/s} is an R-module homomorphism. The restriction of Φ to M is also an R-module homomorphism from M into M P {M_{P}} given by Φ ⁢ ( x ) = x / 1 {\Phi(x)=x/1} for every x ∈ M {x\in M} . A nonnil submodule N of M is said to be Φ-invertible if Φ ⁢ ( N ) {\Phi(N)} is an invertible submodule of Φ ⁢ ( M ) {\Phi(M)} . Moreover, M is called a Φ-Prüfer module if every finitely generated nonnil submodule of M is Φ-invertible. If every nonnil submodule of M is Φ-invertible, then we say that M is a Φ-Dedekind module. Furthermore, M is said to be a Φ-Bezout module if Φ ⁢ ( N ) {\Phi(N)} is a principal ideal of Φ ⁢ ( M ) {\Phi(M)} for every finitely generated submodule N of the R-module M. The paper is devoted to the study of the properties of Φ-Prüfer, Φ-Dedekind and Φ-Bezout R-modules.
