This expository paper presents known results on distribution functions g(x) of the sequence of blocks where xn is an increasing sequence of positive integers. Also presents results of the set G(Xn) of all distribution functions g(x). Specially: - continuity of g(x); - connectivity of G(Xn); - singleton of G(Xn); - one-step g(x); - uniform distribution of Xn, n = 1, 2, . . . ; - lower and upper bounds of g(x); - applications to bounds of ; - many examples, e.g., , where pn is the nth prime, is uniformly distributed. The present results have been published by 25 papers of several authors between 2001-2013.

On a recent paper Benchohra and Mostefai [2] presented some existence results for an integral equation of fractional order with multiple time delay in Banach spaces. In contrast to the classical case, when assumptions are expressed in terms of the strong topology, they considered another case, namely with the weak topology. It has some consequences for the proof. We present here some comments and corrections.

In this paper we improve Theorem 7 in [1] which deals with the existence and uniqueness of solutions of the three dimensional globally modified Navier-Stokes equations.

In their 2012 paper, Bobadilla and Koll\'ar studied topological conditions which guarantee that a proper map of complex algebraic varieties is a topological or differentiable fibration. They also asked whether a certain finiteness property on the relative covering space can imply that a proper map is a fibration. In this paper, we answer positively the integral homology version of their question in the case of abelian varieties, and the rational homology version in the case of compact ball quotients. We also propose several conjectures in relation to the Singer-Hopf conjecture in the complex projective setting., Comment: published/final version

The main objective of this paper is to construct a new sequence of operators involving Apostol-Genocchi polynomials based on certain parameters. We investigate the rate of convergence of the operators given in this paper using second-order modulus of continuity and Voronovskaja type approximation theorem. Moreover, we find weighted approximation result of the given operators. Finally, we derive the Kantorovich variant of the given operators and discussed the approximation results.

In this paper, we present an alternative proof for this fact and show that compact $\kappa$-solutions are rotational symmetric. Our proof arose from independent work relating to our Strong Stability Theorem for singular Ricci flows.

In a recent paper [JUKIĆ, D.: A necessary and sufficient criterion for the existence of the global minima of a continuous lower bounded function on a noncompact set, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 375 (2020)], a new existence level was introduced and then was used to obtain a necessary and sufficient criterion for the existence of the global minima of a continuous lower bounded function on a noncompact set. In this paper, we determined that existence level for the residual sum of squares of the power-law regression with an unknown location parameter, and so we obtained a necessary and sufficient condition which guarantee the existence of the least squares estimate.

This paper aims at producing numerical solutions of nonlinear parabolic PDEs with forcing term without any linearization. Since the linearization of nonlinear term leads to lose real features, without doing linearization, this paper focuses on capturing natural behaviour of the mechanism. Therefore we concentrate on analysis of the physical processes without losing their properties. To carry out this study, a backward differentiation formula in time and a spline method in space have been combined in leading to the discretized equation. This method leads to a very reliable alternative in solving the problem by conserving the physical properties of the nature. The efficiency of the present method are proved theoretically and illustrated by various numerical tests.

In a recent paper, Sokół et al. [Applications of k-Fibonacci numbers for the starlike analytic functions, Hacet. J. Math. Stat. 44(1) (2015), 121{127] obtained an upper bound for the Fekete-Szegö functionalϕλwhenλ 2R of functions belong to the classSLkconnected withk-Fibonacci numbers. The main purpose of this paper is to obtain sharp bounds forϕλbothλ 2R andλ 2C.

In recent years, the problem of estimating Hankel determinants has attracted the attention of many mathematicians. Their research have been focused mainly on deriving the bounds of H 2 , 2 {H_{2,2}} or H 3 , 1 {H_{3,1}} over different subclasses of 𝒮 {\mathcal{S}} . Only in a few papers third Hankel determinants for non-univalent functions were considered. In this paper, we consider two classes of analytic functions with real coefficients. The first one is the class 𝒯 {\mathcal{T}} of typically real functions. The second object of our interest is 𝒦 ℝ ⁢ ( i ) {\mathcal{K}_{\mathbb{R}}(i)} , the class of functions with real coefficients which are convex in the direction of the imaginary axis. In both classes, we find lower and upper bounds of the third Hankel determinant. The results are sharp.

In this paper, we develop the theory of a class of casual differential equations on a time scale. An existence theorem for casual differential equations on a time scale is given under mixed Lipschitz and compactness conditions by the fixed point theorem in Banach algebra due to Dhage. Some fundamental differential inequalities on a time scale are also presented which are utilized to investigate the existence of extremal solutions. The comparison principle on casual differential equations on a time scale is established. Our results in this paper extend and improve some well-known results.

In this paper, the global exponential stability and periodicity are investigated for delayed neural network models with continuous coefficients and piecewise constant delay of generalized type. The sufficient condition for the existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions of the model is established by applying Banach’s fixed point theorem and the successive approximations method. By constructing suitable differential inequalities with generalized piecewise constant delay, some sufficient conditions for the global exponential stability of the model are obtained. Typical numerical examples with simulations are utilized to illustrate the validity and improvement in less conservatism of the theoretical results. This paper ends with a brief conclusion.

In this paper we establish general weighted Hardy identities for several subelliptic settings including Hardy identities on the Heisenberg group, Carnot groups with respect to a homogeneous gauge and Carnot–Carathéodory metric, general nilpotent groups, and certain families of Hörmander vector fields. We also introduce new weighted uncertainty principles in these settings. This is done by continuing the program initiated by [N. Lam, G. Lu and L. Zhang, Factorizations and Hardy’s-type identities and inequalities on upper half spaces, Calc. Var. Partial Differential Equations 58 2019, 6, Paper No. 183; N. Lam, G. Lu and L. Zhang, Geometric Hardy’s inequalities with general distance functions, J. Funct. Anal. 279 2020, 8, Article ID 108673] of using the Bessel pairs introduced by [N. Ghoussoub and A. Moradifam, Functional Inequalities: New Perspectives and New Applications, Math. Surveys Monogr. 187, American Mathematical Society, Providence, 2013] to obtain Hardy identities. Using these identities, we are able to improve significantly existing Hardy inequalities in the literature in the aforementioned subelliptic settings. In particular, we establish the Hardy identities and inequalities in the spirit of [H. Brezis and J. L. Vázquez, Blow-up solutions of some nonlinear elliptic problems, Rev. Mat. Univ. Complut. Madrid 10 1997, 443–469] and [H. Brezis and M. Marcus, Hardy’s inequalities revisited. Dedicated to Ennio De Giorgi, Ann. Sc. Norm. Super. Pisa Cl. Sci. (4) 25 1997, 1–2, 217–237] in these settings.

In this paper, we provide some conditions for a K-woven pair of K-g-frames to be preserved under an operator and particularly, we report that applying two different operators to a K-woven pair of K-g-frames can leave them K-woven. Several new methods on the construction of K-woven pair of K-g-frames are also given. We end the paper with a new perturbation result on the weaving of K-g-frames, which shows that, under the perturbation condition involved in one known result on this topic, two K-g-frames can be K-woven in the whole space, not merely in the subspace Range(K).

Our considerations are inspired by the papers [13, 14] in which the continuous solutions of the first equation on abelian topological groups were determined.

Multimodal biometric systems are nowadays considered as state of the art subject. Since identity establishment in everyday situations has become very significant and rather difficult, there is a need for reliable means of identification. Multimodal systems establish identity based on more than one biometric trait. Hence one of their most significant advantages is the ability to provide greater recognition accuracy and resistance against the forgery. Many papers have proposed various combinations of biometric traits. However, there is an inferior number of solutions demonstrating the use of fingerprint and finger vein patterns. Our main goal was to contribute to this particular field of biometrics. In this paper, we propose OpenFinger, an automated solution for identity recognition utilizing fingerprint and finger vein pattern which is robust to finger displacement as well as rotation. Evaluation and experiments were conducted using SDUMLA-HMT multimodal database. Our solution has been implemented using C++ language and is distributed as a collection of Linux shared libraries. First, fingerprint images are enhanced by means of adaptive filtering where Gabor filter plays the most significant role. On the other hand, finger vein images require the bounding rectangle to be accurately detected in order to focus just on useful biometric pattern. At the extraction stage, Level-2 features are extracted from fingerprints using deep convolutional network using a popular Caffe framework. We employ SIFT and SURF features in case of finger vein patterns. Fingerprint features are matched using closed commercial algorithm developed by Suprema, whereas finger vein features are matched using OpenCV library built-in functions, namely the brute force matcher and the FLANN-based matcher. In case of SIFT features score normalization is conducted by means of double sigmoid, hyperbolic tangens, Z-score and Min-Max functions. On the side of finger veins, the best result was obtained by a combination of SIFT features, brute force matcher with scores normalized by hyperbolic tangens method. In the end, fusion of both biometric traits is done on a score level basis. Fusion was done by means of sum and mean methods achieving 2.12% EER. Complete evaluation is presented in terms of general indicators such as FAR/FRR and ROC.

Aspace X is said to have the absolutely strongly star -𝒤-Hurewicz (ASS𝒤H) property if for each sequence (𝒰 n : n ∈ 𝕅)of opencovers of X and each dense subset Y of X, there is a sequence (Fn : n ∈ 𝕅) of finite subsets of Y such that for each x ∈ X, {n ∈ 𝕅 : x ∉ St(Fn , 𝒰 n )}∈ 𝒤, where 𝒤 is the proper admissible ideal of 𝕅. In this paper, we investigate the relationship between the ASS𝒤H property and other related properties and study the topological properties of the ASS𝒤H property. This paper generalizes several results of Song [25] to the larger class of spaces having the ASS𝒤H properties.

This paper is concerned with a system governed by nonsingular delay differential equations. We study the β-Ulam-type stability of the mentioned system. The investigations are carried out over compact and unbounded intervals. Before proceeding to the main results, we convert the system into an equivalent integral equation and then establish an existence theorem for the addressed system. To justify the application of the reported results, an example along with graphical representation is illustrated at the end of the paper.

In this paper, by using lower bounds for linear forms in logarithms of algebraic numbers and the theory of continued fractions, we find all Fibonacci numbers that appear in generalized Pell sequences. Some interesting estimations involving generalized Pell numbers, that we believe are of independent interest, are also deduced. This paper continues a previous work that searched for Fibonacci numbers in the Pell sequence.

This paper relates to a recent trend in complex differential equations which studies solutions in a given domain. The classical settings in complex equations were widely studied for meromorphic solutions in the complex plane. For functions in the complex plane, we have a lot of results of general nature, in particular, the classical value distributions theory describing numbers of a-points. Many of these results do not work for functions in a given domain. A recent principle of derivatives permits us to study the numbers of Ahlfors simple islands for functions in a given domain; the islands play, to some extend, a role similar to that of the numbers of simple a-points. In this paper, we consider a large class of higher order differential equations admitting meromorphic solutions in a given domain. Applying the principle of derivatives, we get the upper bounds for the numbers of Ahlfors simple islands of similar solutions.

In 1980, Onishchik introduced the index of a Riemannian symmetric space as the minimal codimension of a (proper) totally geodesic submanifold. He calculated the index for symmetric spaces of rank less than or equal to 2, but for higher rank it was unclear how to tackle the problem. In earlier papers we developed several approaches to this problem, which allowed us to calculate the index for many symmetric spaces. Our systematic approach led to a conjecture for how to calculate the index. The subject of the paper is suggested by G. Janelidze and motivated by his earlier result giving a positive answer to the question posed by S. MacLane whether the Galois theory of homogeneous linear ordinary differential equations over a differential field (which is Kolchin–Ritt theory and an algebraic version of Picard–Vessiot theory) can be obtained as a particular case of G. Janelidze’s Galois theory in categories. One ground category in the Galois structure involved in this theory is dual to the category of commutative rings with unit, and another one is dual to the category of commutative differential rings with unit. In the present paper, we apply the general categorical construction, the particular case of which gives this Galois structure, by replacing “commutative rings with unit” by algebras from any variety V \mathscr{V} of universal algebras satisfying the amalgamation property and a certain condition (of the syntactical nature) for elements of amalgamated free products which was introduced earlier, and replacing “commutative differential rings with unit” by V \mathscr{V} -algebras equipped with additional unary operations which satisfy some special identities to construct a new Galois structure. It is proved that this Galois structure is admissible. Moreover, normal extensions with respect to it are characterized in the case where V \mathscr{V} is any of the following varieties: abelian groups, loops and quasigroups.

In this paper we establish a new critical point theorem for a class of perturbed differentiable functionals without satisfying the Palais–Smale condition. We prove the existence of at least one critical point to such functionals, provided that the perturbation is sufficiently small. The main abstract result of this paper is applied both to perturbed nonhomogeneous equations in Orlicz–Sobolev spaces and to nonlocal problems in fractional Sobolev spaces.

In this study, at first we prove that the existence of best proximity points for cyclic nonexpansive mappings is equivalent to the existence of best proximity pairs for noncyclic nonexpansive mappings in the setting of strictly convex Banach spaces by using the projection operator. In this way, we conclude that the main result of the paper [Proximal normal structure and nonexpansive mappings, Studia Math. 171 (2005), 283–293] immediately follows. We then discuss the convergence of best proximity pairs for noncyclic contractions by applying the convergence of iterative sequences for cyclic contractions and show that the convergence method of a recent paper [Convergence of Picard's iteration using projection algorithm for noncyclic contractions, Indag. Math. 30 (2019), no. 1, 227–239] is obtained exactly from Picard’s iteration sequence.

In this paper we deal with positive radially symmetric solutions for a boundary value problem containing a strongly nonlinear operator. The proof of existence of positive solutions that we give uses the blow-up method as a main ingredient for the search of a-priori bounds of solutions. The blow-up argument is one by contradiction and uses a sort of scaling, reminiscent to the one used in the theory of minimal surfaces, see [B. Gidas and J. Spruck, A priori bounds for positive solutions of nonlinear elliptic equations, Comm. Partial Differential Equations 6 1981, 883–901], and therefore the homogeneity of the operators, Laplacian or p-Laplacian, and second members powers or power like functions play a fundamental role in the method. Thus, when the differential operators are no longer homogeneous, and similarly for the second members, applying the blow-up method to obtain a-priori bounds of solutions seems an almost impossible task. In spite of this fact, in [M. García-Huidobro, I. Guerra and R. Manásevich, Existence of positive radial solutions for a weakly coupled system via blow up, Abstr. Appl. Anal. 3 1998, 1–2, 105–131], we were able to overcome this difficulty and obtain a-priori bounds for a certain (simpler) type of problems. We show in this paper that the asymptotically homogeneous functions provide, in the same sense, a nonlinear rescaling, that allows us to generalize the blow-up method to our present situation. After the a-priori bounds are obtained, the existence of a solution follows from Leray–Schauder topological degree theory.

This paper gives an explicit formula of the asymptotic expansion of the Kobayashi–Royden metric on the punctured sphere ℂ ⁢ ℙ 1 ∖ { 0 , 1 , ∞ } {\mathbb{CP}^{1}\setminus\{0,1,\infty\}} in terms of the exponential Bell polynomials. We prove a local quantitative version of the Little Picard’s Theorem as an application of the asymptotic expansion. Furthermore, the approach in the paper leads to the interesting consequence that the coefficients in the asymptotic expansion are rational numbers. Furthermore, the explicit formula of the metric and the conclusion regarding the coefficients apply to more general cases of ℂ ⁢ ℙ 1 ∖ { a 1 , … , a n } {\mathbb{CP}^{1}\setminus\{a_{1},\ldots,a_{n}\}} , n ≥ 3 {n\geq 3} , as well, and the metric on ℂ ⁢ ℙ 1 ∖ { 0 , 1 3 , - 1 6 ± 3 6 ⁢ i } {\mathbb{CP}^{1}\setminus\{0,\frac{1}{3},-\frac{1}{6}\pm\frac{\sqrt{3}}{6}i\}} will be given as a concrete example of our results.

The F-index F(G) of a graph G is obtained by the sum of cubes of the degrees of all the vertices in G. It is defined in the same paper of 1972 where the first and second Zagreb indices are introduced to study the structure-dependency of total π-electron energy. Recently, Furtula and Gutman [J. Math. Chem. 53 (2015), no. 4, 1184–1190] reinvestigated F-index and proved its various properties. A connected graph with order n and size m, such that m = n + 2, is called a tricyclic graph. In this paper, we characterize the extremal graphs and prove the ordering among the different subfamilies of graphs with respect to F-index in $\begin{array}{} \displaystyle {\it\Omega}^{\alpha}_n \end{array}$, where $\begin{array}{} \displaystyle {\it\Omega}^{\alpha}_n \end{array}$ is a complete class of tricyclic graphs with three, four, six and seven cycles, such that each graph has α ≥ 1 pendant vertices and n ≥ 16 + α order. Mainly, we prove the bounds (lower and upper) of F(G), i.e $$\begin{array}{} \displaystyle 8n+12\alpha +76\leq F(G)\leq 8(n-1)-7\alpha + (\alpha+6)^3 ~\mbox{for each}~ G\in {\it\Omega}^{\alpha}_n. \end{array}$$

In recent papers, new sets of Sheffer and Brenke polynomials based on higher order Bell numbers and several integer sequences related to them have been studied. In the present paper, new sets of Bell–Sheffer polynomials are introduced. Connections with Bell numbers are shown.

The authors developed in a recent paper natural dualities for finitely generated quasivarieties of Sugihara algebras. They thereby identified the admissibility algebras for these quasivarieties which, via the Test Spaces Method devised by Cabrer et al., give access to a viable method for studying admissible rules within relevance logic, specifically for extensions of the deductive system R-mingle.This paper builds on the work already done on the theory of natural dualities for Sugihara algebras. Its purpose is to provide an integrated suite of multisorted duality theorems of a uniform type, encompassing finitely generated quasivarieties and varieties of both Sugihara algebras and Sugihara monoids, and embracing both the odd and the even cases. The overarching theoretical framework of multisorted duality theory developed here leads on to amenable representations of free algebras. More widely, it provides a springboard to further applications.

In this paper, we develop the elementary theory of inverse semigroups to the cases of type B semigroups. The main aim of this paper is to study proper type B semigroups. We introduce first the concept of a left admissible triple. After obtaining some basic properties of left admissible triple, we give the definition of a Q-semigroup and get a structure theorem of Q-semigroup. In particular, we introduce the notion of an admissible triple and give some characterization of proper type B semigroups. It is proved that an arbitrary Q-semigroup with an admissible triple is an E-unitary type B semigroup.

In this paper, we consider the wavelet estimators of a nonparametric regression model based on widely orthant dependent random errors. The moment consistency and the completely consistency for wavelet estimators under some more mild moment conditions are investigated. The results obtained in the paper improve and extend the corresponding ones for dependent random variables. Finally, we provide a numerical simulation to verify the validity of our results.

The presented paper is strictly connected, among others, with the paper On the sum of some alternating series, Comp. Math. Appl. (2011), written by Wituła and Słota. A problem concerning the form of determinants formulated in the cited paper is solved here. Next, the obtained result is adapted to solve some system of linear equations and the description of the sum of alternating series.

This paper proves the boundedness of the generalized Riesz potentials I ρ , μ , τ ⁢ f {I_{\rho,\mu,\tau}f} of functions in the Morrey space L ( 1 , φ ; κ ) ⁢ ( G ) {L^{(1,\varphi;\kappa)}(G)} over a general measure space X, with G a bounded open set in X (or G is X ) {X)} , as an extension of earlier results. The modification parameter τ is introduced for the purpose of including the case where the underlying measure does not satisfy the doubling condition. What is new in the present paper is that ρ depends on x ∈ X {x\in X} . An example in the end of this article convincingly explains why the modification parameter τ must be introduced.

We define the concepts of commutator (Krylov) transitive and strongly commutator (Krylov) transitive Abelian p-groups. These two innovations are respectively non-trivial generalizations of the notions of commutator fully transitive and strongly commutator fully transitive p-groups from a paper of Chekhlov and Danchev (J. Group Theory, 2015). They are also commutator socle-regular in the sense of Danchev and Goldsmith (J. Group Theory, 2014). Various results from there and from a paper of Goldsmith and Strüngmann (Houston J. Math., 2007) are considerably extended to this new point of view. We also define and explore the concept of a commutator weakly transitive Abelian p-group, comparing its properties with those of the aforementioned two group classes. Some affirmations, sounding quite curiously, are detected in order to illustrate the pathology of the commutators in the endomorphism rings of p-primary Abelian groups.

The main goal of this paper is to introduce the notion of stabilizers in EQ-algebras and develop stabilizer theory in EQ-algebras. In the paper, we introduce (fuzzy) left and right stabilizers and investigate some related properties of them. Then, we discuss the relations among (fuzzy) stabilizers, (fuzzy) prefilters (filters) and (fuzzy) co-annihilators. Also, we obtain that the set of all prefilters in a good EQ-algebra forms a relative pseudo-complemented lattice, where Str(F, G) is the relative pseudo-complemented of F with respect to G. These results will provide a solid algebraic foundation for the consequence connectives in higher fuzzy logic.

This paper studies the bounded approximation property (BAP) in quasi-Banach spaces. In the first part of the paper, we show that the kernel of any surjective operator ℓ p → X {\ell_{p}\to X} has the BAP when X has it and 0 < p ≤ 1 {0 , which is an analogue of the corresponding result of Lusky for Banach spaces. We then obtain and study nonlocally convex versions of the Kadec–Pełczyński–Wojtaszczyk complementably universal spaces for Banach spaces with the BAP.

In this paper, we continue to investigate the exceptional sets for sums of five and six almost equal cubes of primes. We would also like to establish that almost all natural numbers n, subjected to certain congruence conditions, can be written as n = p 1 3 + ⋯ + p s 3 {n=p_{1}^{3}+\cdots+p_{s}^{3}} ( s = 5 , 6 {s=5,6} ) with | p j - ( n / s ) 1 / 3 | ≤ n θ s / 3 + ε {|p_{j}-(n/s)^{1/3}|\leq n^{\theta_{s}/3+\varepsilon}} ( 1 ≤ j ≤ s {1\leq j\leq s} ), where θ s {\theta_{s}} is as small as possible. The main result of this paper is to improve θ 6 = 5 / 6 + ε {\theta_{6}=5/6+\varepsilon} , which is proven in [M. Wang, Exceptional sets for sums of five and six almost equal prime cubes, Acta Math. Hungar. 156 2018, 2, 424–434], to θ 6 = 9 / 11 + ε {\theta_{6}=9/11+\varepsilon} , as well as prove θ 5 = 8 / 9 + ε {\theta_{5}=8/9+\varepsilon} in another way.
