1. BIOCHEMICAL EVALUATION IN TIBIAL FRACTURE REPAIR OF GOATS USING PAX AND LCP TECHNIQUES.

The present study was conducted in twelve clinical cases of fracture in goats. The fracture cases were divided into two groups viz., group I and group II and each consisted of six goats, respectively. Group I and II treated with polyaxial locking plate system (PAX) and locking compression plate (LCP), respectively. The two techniques were evaluated with biochemical changes on pre-operative day, post-operative day 0th, 1
5th , 30th and 60th . On analysis of biochemical parameters revealed that, there was no significant difference in the levels of serum alkaline phosphatase between both the groups at all intervals of study. Both the groups showed significant rise in serum alkaline phosphatase, significantly elevated on day 15th and day 30th , when compared to day 0th . The comparison between the groups revealed that there was no significant difference in serum calcium level at any intervals of study. The serum calcium level was increased on day 15th and day 30th when compared to 0th day in both the group of animals. The comparison between the groups at different intervals of the study indicated that there was no significant difference in serum phosphorous level at interval of study. The serum phosphorous level was elevated on day 15th and on 30th day significantly, when compared 0th day in both the group of animals. However, all the parameters showed rise in levels upto day 30th and returned to normal physiological range by 60th day. It was concluded that, the effect of biochemical parameters on tibial fracture repair of goats using PAX and LCP techniques was transient. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]- Published
