De taalontwikkeling is een belangrijk onderdeel voor de verdere sociale en cognitieve ontwikkeling van het jonge kind. Om optimale taalontwikkeling te laten plaatsvinden, speelt het opvoedgedrag van ouders een belangrijke rol. Twee aspecten van opvoedgedrag die belangrijk worden geacht, zijn moederlijke stimulatie en moederlijke warmte. De onderzoeksvraag die in deze thesis wordt onderzocht is: Wordt de relatie tussen moederlijke stimulering en taalvaardigheid van peuters versterkt door moederlijke warmte? Dit wordt onderzocht bij 123 moeders en hun peuter (36-42 maanden). Dit is onderzocht door het afnemen van de CECPAQ en de BAYLEY-III-NL. Uit de resultaten blijkt dat er geen sprake is van samenhang tussen warmte en taalvaardigheid, taalbegrip en taalproductie, eveneens is er geen samenhang gevonden tussen ouderlijke stimulatie en taalvaardigheid, taalbegrip en taalproductie. Tot slot is er geen relatie tussen stimulatie en taalontwikkeling en de versterking hiervan door warmte. Naar aanleiding van de resultaten van dit onderzoek wordt aanbevolen om vervolgonderzoek te doen, met een heterogene groep en andere meetinstrumenten op het gebied van stimulatie.

Cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) has a high prevalence among patients who received heart transplantation (HTx). CAV is a multiple factorial process in which the immune system plays a large role. In this thesis, the data on the immunological and fibrotic processes that are involved in the development of CAV are summarized. During the pathogenesis of CAV, cells from the innate and the adaptive immune system cooperate to reject the foreign organ that is transplanted. The inflammatory response results in dysfunction of the endothelium and migration and proliferation of smooth muscle cells (SMCs). Apoptosis and factors secreted by both the endothelium as the SMCs lead to fibrosis. The migration of SMCs together with fibrosis provoke concentric intimal thickening of the coronary arteries, which is the main characteristic of CAV.

In dit paper doe ik een poging tot het beschrijven van de verschillende bestaande betekenissen van het Nederlandse polyseme woord weer (of weder), omdat er verschillende theorieën over het Duitse wieder en in mindere mate het Engelse again bestaan, maar het Nederlands hier nooit bij betrokken is en mogelijk wel iets kan toevoegen aan de discussie. Ik ben voornamelijk uitgegaan van de monosemietheorie van Von Stechow (1996) en de polysemietheorie van Fabricius-Hansen (2001) en heb Fabricius-Hansens standpunt overgenomen. Ik heb data uit woordenboeken gebruikt om de verschillende betekenissen van weer te onderzoeken. Ik heb vier betekenissen gevonden die niet eerder in literatuur genoemd zijn, waaronder weer in werkwoorden als weerkaatsen, die het presuppositie-element mist dat gezien wordt als deel van de inherente betekenis van alle betekenissen van weer en dus een essentieel verschil in betekenis vertoont met eerder genoemde betekenissen. Dit duidt erop dat weer niet één onderliggende betekenis heeft, die verandert afhankelijk van de context (monosemie), maar meerdere gerelateerde onderliggende betekenissen (polysemie).

The Rifian Corridor was one of the main marine connections between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean before the Messinian Salinity Crisis (5.97 – 5.33). Previous studies indicated that the Mediterranean became partially isolated from the Atlantic already at 6.64 – 6.44 Ma because of the restriction of this marine connection. The gradual closure of the Rifian Corridor however has been hardly captured stratigraphically since the latest marine deposits are often eroded. In order to specify the processes leading to the closure of the Rifian Corridor a field study was conducted in the Saïss Basin and in the western end of the Gharb basin, located in the mid-western part of the Rifian Corridor. Magnetostratigraphic, biostratigraphic and grain-size results are presented in combination with a sedimentary log of the Neogene deposits at two study-locations near Meknes. Grain-size results are used to correlate and interpret both study-locations. Correlation of the biostratigraphy and polarity sequence of the marl intervals allows an accurate dating of the composite section. The composite section shows an increase in depth related to basin subsidence and is dated at 6.37 – 6.29 Ma. The turbiditic dominated successions show periodic variances in tectonic activity of the source area while subsidence further affected the type of active sedimentary processes. This study furthermore shows increasing influences of bottom current controlled deposits higher up the stratigraphy, indicating changes in the exchange of Atlantic-Mediterranean bottom sea-water. Both sections show different bottom current regimes, the northern section indicates bi-directional flow (E–W & W-E) whereas the southern section indicates dominantly Mediterranean inflow (W–E). The differences in flow regime observed, can be explained by the effect of Coriolis force acting on the water masses in the Rifian Corridor.
