The article focuses on antitourism in literature by Willa Cather. The author argues that the book "One of Ours," by Cather is one of many World War I novels which classify characters by their touristic positioning. According to the author, the tourist soldier is seen as incapable of understanding the "real" reason for American intervention while the traveller can comprehend the defence of culture behind the war. The experience of the character Claude, a soldier in the war, are presented. The writers Anna Robeson Burr, Clara E. Laughlin, and Mary Hastings Bradley are mentioned.
