- Abstract
Environmental attitude is an important attitude in dealing with environmental problems and climate change events that occur due to human behavior. This study aims to determine the effect of episodic future thinking on environmental attitudes. Episodic Future Thinking (EFT), which is projecting oneself into the future to feel future events, has been used in several previous studies to increase pro-environmental behavior. The research method used is a pre-experimental model in the form of a one-group pretest-posttest design. This study was conducted online involving 17 participants in emerging adulthood (18-25 years) obtained by incident sampling technique using e-flyer. The measuring instrument used in this study is the preservation scales from Brief Version of Environmental Attitude Inventory (EAI-24) and the 7-point rating scale phenomenological features of episodic future thinking. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test. The results showed a significant value of p = 0.001, Z =-3.446. Based on these results, it can be concluded that episodic future thinking can affect the environmental attitude. The result of this study can provide alternative strategies to improve environmental care attitudes and environmental care behavior on campus or the community. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
